Beyond frustrating. I liked living there but these last 2 months ruined the experience. Very unprofessional. This company has refused to call me or respond to my emails. They didn’t close my energy account though I moved out 2 months ago and I am continually being billed (called the energy company and they said only the landlord can close my account), obligo (extra $10/month for rent that we were required to have) continued to charge me 2 extra months despite no longer living there and I’m waiting for a $1300 deposit refund that was supposed to be refunded at the latest 2 weeks ago. Nobody contacted me regarding my walk through or any of the move out process. They won’t respond to my emails regarding ANY of these complaints and I’m very close to taking them to small claims court due to owing me $1500+.For your sanity, rent somewhere else.
The management team is horrible. When I first moved they had me go to the wrong apartment. They do not respond to emails. I have been trying to access the online portal where payment options can be accessed. They basically have refused to activate my membership while still charging me for rent. They charged me for two and a half months before I lived here for a full month. I cant check the postings to change my payment method and they have it on autopay after I requested it be changed. THIS IS A HORRIBLE SITUATION. The apartment is fine but the uncaring, cold nature of the management makes this a one star experience. The emails keep telling me to change my password but it is also telling me there is no active membership. No one cares. no one can figure it out and nobody has been following up to solve this issue of payment option access. Its a scamming maneuver. If you can look for other places because common is highly deceiving. And not as smooth as they make it seem. Technical support is no existent.
For city living and the square feet! Its not that bad. Very beautiful building was built in 1911
Common is an amazing place with amazing people. There was a few minor problems along the way like my room not being ready and what not but it was solved professionally and without an issue I cannot recommend them enough.
I’ve been trying to get a hold of them for about 4 months and finally did today for a virtual tour. The woman on the phone said the studio I would tour was within my budget. So I got on the virtual tour and the guy tells me they’re all WAY over my budget and they have no studios nearby that are under that. I explained that that wasn’t what I was told and all he said was sorry about that instead of trying to figure why I was told something different. So basically I spent months not being able to reach anyone and when I finally do, they lied to me. This is the worst experience I’ve had looking for an apartment and will actively tell others to avoid Common at all costs.
I moved here about 2 months ago and was overcharged for rent by $400. It is impossible to get into contact with anyone and I wasnt able to get my money back. My partner and I were left starving with no gas for work. I have been asking for at least just a discount on the next months rent, but no one ever gets back to me. Ive sent probably 50 emails with no response. The management here basically doesnt exist.
Very unprofessional and overpriced. Absolutely never respond or if they do it takes weeks. Not worth the stress having zero management available.
Absolutely impossible to get a hold of management for anything. Our building had an issue with tenants regularly getting their packages stolen and they did nothing. They are generally super unhelpful and unresponsive when issues arise.
Packages stolen daily. People pee on the entrance doors. Management team is about as absent as Ive ever seen.If you like having to call a lawyer against your landlord and shifty eye all your neighbors because your renter fails to solve theft issues you might like it here.
I lived here for 6 years and the current property management company is the best one weve had. They are extremely responsive and quickly resolve any concerns. The building is clean, a great value, and the location cant be beat. 2 blocks from the light rail in the heart of Capitol Hill!
Common delivered me exactly what I was looking for - a short-term lease with amenities while I was in-transition to find a more permanent living situation. It was nice being able to move in and out without the overhead of figuring out internet & utilities, etc. The support team had a fairly quick turnaround while I was there. Overall great experience.
I just recently moved into one of Commons studios! I fell in love with how modern the space is. Its not just a space Id enjoy, my cats would have many windows to look through! Its nice being close to a park and local businesses. Theres a market just down the street in case I ever want snacks. I havent interacted much with my neighbors but Common has ways you can chat with people living in your area or in other Common complexes. I chose Common for their affordable price and free wifi! They were very responsive to me during the application process. On move in day, there was a hold up accessing my keys, but they were able to send someone over to help me retrieve them! Im very thankful and excited to be here!
This was my first experience renting an apartment on my own. I lived here for about two years, and overall I have nothing negative to say. Any time I had an issue, which was very rarely, they were on top of it. And moving in was very easy. I think I moved in about 24 hours after sending in my application. They also have staff that keeps the building and common areas clean, and the events they have for the building are really fun (even for an introvert like me). I’d definitely recommend to anyone checking this place out. Especially if you’re a young professional who needs something affordable, clean, in a central location, and cares about their privacy but also enjoys the option to get to know their neighbors (which can be pretty difficult to do in a bigger city.)
I have lived here for most of 2020, almost 10 months now, and have had a great time with Common and highly recommend Common Terry!Positives:Location: Common Terry is very well located. It is a stones throw away from Downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill, Elliot Bay and Central District as well. Public transport out of here is very good, and options for restaurants from the immediate neighborhood are pretty decent. The lack of the overt bustle makes the neighborhood very pedestrian friendly.Common and leases: These homes shine at affordability for short leases and the flexibility offered by a single company controlling the building. I initially moved with a 3 month lease to scope out the neighborhood, subsequently extended my lease and moved to a different unit and am now transferring that lease to move into a third unit that I liked better. In short, if youre staying, Manny and Tom are excellent at helping navigate the whole thing.Negatives/accommodations to make while living here:Hello hospitals: Depending on which way your window faces, you might hear quite a few ambulances. No on-premises staff: Easy to contact Common and get help, but Ive definitely seen some new residents having locked themselves out.Mixed bag:Amenities are a mixed bag. Pretty great free Wi-Fi, good and regularly cleaned common kitchens, couple of TVs in common spaces, nice fire pit, heating works well, no proper mail room but have secure mailboxes, exercise room is small and has very little equipment, no in-unit laundry though multiple laundry units on each floor... and do we have a roof?!With calibrated expectations, living here has been a very good experience!
I wish Id found Common back when I was living in Boston. Great support team, super efficient/simple processes, and incredible value. Special shout-out to Tom for going above and beyond to help me out with a last-minute transfer request!
Transitioning from a single family home back to an apartment can be difficult, my team here has made it virtually painless. I love my new home! Thank you for being so responsive to all my questions & needs.
Julie was super helpful and answered all my questions that I had! She responded promptly and accurately!
I had a great experience living in one of their capital hill units. Service are very professional and quick, they alway kept the place clean! Ill always recommend others to live here
Moved into a newer building run by Common and have had a bad experience from start to finish. They have no idea what they’re doing. They falsely advertise and over-exaggerate. The elevator has broken down multiple times, the freezer drawer of my fridge completely froze shut, the “eco” dishwasher doesn’t clean anything whatsoever, they failed to have me sign the proper documentation upon move in then accused me of violating my lease and slapped me with a huge bill to cover their own mistake. Oh, and the hot water was broken for four days and they refuse to acknowledge it was more than two days. Not worth the trouble. At all.
I have lived here for almost a month so far and enjoyed it a lot! It’s really a great location. Out of the business of the city, but close to everything I need! I can walk anywhere from here. Also my apartment building has great amenities and I like the modern appliances within. :)
Stayed at Common Summit in Seattle, WA for 1 year. I had a very good experience overall. The apartment is relatively new and in a great location. Its also clean and has nice amenities.
Common took over halfway through my lease and it was a great transition! They’re super quick/friendly with responses and on top of anything that goes on. The hosted events are always varied in type of activity and such a fun, unique way to meet people in a new city and try new things. The complex is always very clean and Common Anderson is in the heart of everything in Capitol Hill- 8+ grocery stores within walking distance, tons of restaurants, cafes, nightlife, shopping, access to great parks and a safe location.
I have nothing but good things to say about Common Living. The apartment complexes are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, while the property management team is easy to work with, organized, caring, and prompt. After living in a smaller apartment for two years in a complex owned by Common, I reached out to Jenna, the Customer Success Manager, to let her know I needed more space and was looking for other apartments. She quickly scheduled a meeting to discuss what type of apartment I was looking for, and she literally found the PERFECT fit. This was no easy feat, as I was very specific in what I was looking for - a complex close to Lake Union, with a patio and view of the water, a lofted studio space with full amenities, in Eastlake (a neighborhood I love), at a reasonable price. Miraculously, she found EXACTLY that, but even better- a BRAND NEW complex at a price I could afford! I was thrilled, and couldn’t wait to move in. She even scheduled multiple tours for me to view the complex, to provide full confidence in my decision to transfer buildings. And on top of that, she timed the move-in so I can easily transfer from my current lease to the next without paying double rent. With their awesome customer service team and great apartments, I plan to stay with Common Living until I buy property. Although I may just stay permanently!
I rent a micro studio in Common for two years already, it is convenient and affordable to me.When I renew my lease, the renewals manager Tom is very supportive on helping me go thought the process.
I have been living in a Common property for 5 months and here are the pros and cons:Pros:Brand new building and appliances (the one Im in)Very nice super who is responsiveShort term leasesCons:Unresponsive and disorganized management from NY, they dont seem to communicate with each other or know their properties wellPoor property mgmt.- they dont notify at least 2 days before entering units, and they entered mine without consent while I was working, with my dog there and left debris all over my floorUtilities arent included, FYI and do your due diligence on the building and what it offers (mine doesnt have AC yet its advertised as having it)Get everything in writing! I was offered a free month and its nowhere to be found, nor is a response from management when I inquireBe prepared for noise and TINY quarters- I can hear everything from my unit, and thats with 2 white noise machinesLastly, theyre not pandemic-sensitive at all- they suggest handling any complaints with tenants face to face and they enter units when its not an emergencyBottom line- you can find better living conditions elsewhere and for less, not sure what the heck I am paying for here
I lived here about a year. The property management company is extremely irresponsible and unreliable. My security deposit was not returned even after 40 days of vacating the place, and never received any communication about why there is a delay. No response to demand letters sent for legal action. When I had wanted to terminate lease about 2 months before my lease ended, they were making illegal demands like 3months rent as penalty even though my lease term did not have that duration. They do not respond to any emails or even physical mail. There are no on-site personnel for any assistance. the apartment is really close to harbor view medical center. Noise of ambulances throughout the day made it really difficult for me.
It was a decent unit asking price was to high for the location though, getting a hold with people was timely and professional, shout out to Tom Ahern you really on top of everything and helped me out👌🏽
It is absolutely shameful what lack of care the property management brings to the residents and to the property. No accommodations are offered here, and safety & health concerns are readily dismissed.
It is a really good place to live, the only thing is that its a big process to start the lease and its too much information they send you so it gets confusing, but the building its really good, the studio it has more than enough space to live and its always clean
Common once again has found a way to solve the problem, thanks!
Very bad communication.
