He took time in our initial consultation to talk to me, look at pictures and discuss what I wanted. He listened, offered expertise; and based on the condition of my hair, made recommendations. We came up with a plan and he executed it to perfection! I finally got the perfect color I’ve always wanted. Seriously, I went from drab to fab in 90 minutes. I know this is long, but PLEASE read this before you decide to get your hair colored here. I saw the high-star reviews and decided to go here for my post-wedding balayage. I showed Brittany the photo I wanted, and she spent hours on my hair. After she was done, I was so unhappy with it. All she gave me was a set of streaky highlights. I told her I was upset so she kindly let me come back the next day so she could fix it. I showed her the photo again, and I got home to this hair. I cried and cried and cried. Ive never had someone mess up my hair this bad - EVER. She was so nice and I hate posting negative reviews but I just couldnt live with myself if I didnt post this and someone elses hair ended up like this. Here are some photos of the second color. (By the way, I went to my stylist back home who was able to fix my hair to look identical to the balayage photo I showed Brittany at 5 points salon).

I have been going to the same stylist for years and was pretty nervous at first to be going to a new salon, but Alida did an amazing job on my hair, and made me feel comfortable! She walked me through everything she was doing! I will definitely be back!

Ive struggled with a red tint in my hair after letting a friend box dye my light brown hair. I finally decided it was worth the money to go to a salon and get my hair done professionally. When I went in, I explained the tendency to pull an orange shine and explained that was the last thing I wanted. I showed him a picture of a chocolatey brown color, but when I left I had black hair with a red tint. I called and asked for them to fix it or refund me, so the owner personally fixed my hair. He claimed he would lift the color, and that it was an easy fix. He must have been in a rush because he only put dye over it, and while the dye was sitting in my hair he moved me to the waiting area to work on another client. My hair still had a red tint and was still much darker than I originally wanted, and he assured me the red tint was only the lighting in the salon. Needless to say I was not happy with my experience, and if you have hair like mine that pulls warm colors I would avoid this salon all together.

Ive always gotten my hair cut by Mark. I told him my hair goals (not frizzy, I air dry my curly hair, etc.) and he didnt even need a picture to exactly nail it. Fantastic experience! They offer a military, and college student discount!

I booked Five Points Salon to do my hair for my wedding after years of great experiences there. They were so accommodating and Brittany did the most amazing job on my hair (and even threw in a few curls for my mother too). I loved having a trial run and being able to discuss options, and there was a perfect balance between Brittany giving me some direction but still executing my vision perfectly. Not only do they do great work with everyday cuts and dyes, but now I can personally attest to the high-quality (yet still affordable) up-do.

I’m so particular about the way my bangs are cut and he shapes them and gets them the perfect length every single time. Great service. Beautiful, classy place right down town. Staff is very accommodating, use natural products. Were able to get my hair the perfect shade of light pink- no easy feat- and it stayed for months! Do not expect it to be mall cheap- these are true professionals.

Zachary will go out of his way to make sure you are satisfied with your hair before you leave! I had the keratin treatment done today, and it was so amazing on my hair! I went in with my hair crazy and wild, couldn’t manage it at all, and left there with hair with absolutely no frizz at all, smooth and shiny! If you have crazy hair I definitely recommend this treatment!

Zach makes a visit to 5 Points Salon so enjoyable. The salon is beautiful and very comfortable, and Zach adds to the positive experience. He does an amazing cut on my fine hair which makes it look fuller. Zach also does a great job coloring my hair. The color is a perfect match for my natural shade so it does not have that dyed hair harsh look. In addition, he is an expert at highlights. The highlights are so natural looking and blend so well with the color and cut. Finally, he has a great sense of humor and is fun to talk to while I am being made gorgeous by him. I would highly recommend Zach and the salon.

Senior year now at Carolina and mad that I didnt find this place sooner. Great service and really genuine. Not in a pushy way to see if youll buy a product. Had my first appointment here today with Laura and she was very nice and really asked a lot of questions and listened to better understand my hair. I have some curl to my hair and a frizz and she did a great job on the wash and cut. The prices here are very reasonable too. Ive paid significantly more money for a haircut that was not nearly as good. They also have a 20% student discount. The Aveda products worked so well on my hair I decided to buy what she had used. But again, not because she was pushing me to. If anything she mentioned that if I wanted to look for a smaller size of the bottle to look elsewhere since they didnt carry a smaller size. Ill definitely be back!

Just got my haircut here for the first time and all I can say is WOW. The atmosphere of this place is so friendly, its conveniently located right in 5pts, and not to mention the reasonable pricing! I reccomend to everyone. Definitely will be coming back.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! I got an amazing consultation for both color and cut by Mark Zieglar. From the minute I came in, I felt comfortable and welcomed by the staff and by Mark. He takes the time to look at my skin tone and recommend good colors for someone who’s starting to go grey. He also gave me the best cut for my face shape. Love it!!!

Zach is literally a miracle worker. I came in after another stylist turned my head RED (when I wanted a cool light brown w some highlights) desperate for help and he gave me exactly what I had wanted in the first place. I thought I was stuck with hair I hated but he definitely fixed a traumatic experience from a bad box dye and an inexperienced stylist into a wonderful one! Never going anywhere else!

The haircut was quick & it looked great! The atmosphere was very friendly, and the prices were good too— $20 for a haircut (same as GreatClips) and it’s the best i’ve looked in a long time. The online booking feature was really convenient as well. It made setting up an appointment easy for me. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this salon to anyone in the downtown area who needs a haircut.(Bonus: if you’re LGBT, this place is LGBT-friendly! so i’d recommend it even more in that case.)

I got my hair permanently straightened here a couple days ago with Zach, and Ill definitely be coming back. I was doubtful about the procedure initially, but Zach was extremely nice and would answer all the questions I had. He knew what he was doing and guided me through the entire process.I just washed my hair today after getting it chemically straightened, and I couldnt be happier! It has air-dried completely straight compared to how it used to dry wavy. If anyone is looking to do this procedure or any other types of styling I would highly recommend coming here!!!

I am new to Columbia and did my research on Aveda Salons. After reading all the great reviews about Brittany I decided to make any appointment with her... and Im so glad I did. She was excellent. Really not a bad thing to say. She listened to what I wanted, gave me her professional opinion and genuinely seemed to have my best interest in mind (not just trying to make a buck). I never expect to get exactly what I want when I get my hair done. Pictures are altered with lightening, editing and so many other things. But what I do expect is to see a stylist that knows whats shes doing, listens to what I want and does her absolute best. I honestly feel thats the service I got with Brittany. I high recommend her!

Shes funny and amiable and did wonders with my hair. Considering the high quality of the service, the cost is more than reasonable. Ive paid more money for worse service from less pleasant stylists. Zack did an amazing job!!! Got partial highlights and layers and they are wonderful! I have really thick but fine hair and a lot of hairdressers struggle with it but Zack was so attentive and really listened to me on how I wanted it done. Definitely going back!

Zach is awesome! Total miracle worker. My first time there he fixed a highlight job from another salon that had my hair orange and uneven. He was so nice and did an amazing job turning me blonde again.

I came here to get a simple root touch-up -- listed at a starting price of $55 on their website -- and my stylist, Brittany, admitted that she did not know how to do the kind of shadow root that I preferred. I said that was okay, I just wanted my color to blend in with my roots so the outgrowth wouldnt be as noticeable. What I received were uneven, streaky highlights that did not remotely blend with my natural color, front pieces of hair that were fried so badly they split off, and an all-over toner applied to my hair that I didnt ask for, but was charged an additional $20 to get, which turned my golden blonde silver. Then, to add insult to injury, I was informed that the total cost was $155, nearly triple what I had originally anticipated to pay. I made it patently clear that I wanted a root touch-up, and Brittany either made an honest mistake in communicating ineffectively the cost of her services or chose to take advantage of a college student who wouldnt want to argue the price. My advice is to stay far from this salon, seriously.

Abigail gave me the EXACT haircut I wanted! I have very long hair (just below my waist before the cut) and have had traumatic cuts in the past where I asked for a couple of inches taken off and left with half a foot gone. Abigail took the time to ask me exactly what I was wanting in terms of length and shape, and then literally used a comb with measurement notches in it to make sure nothing was over cut. In all my experiences in having my hair cut or trimmed, Ive never left a salon in absolute love with my hair, maybe ok with it but never in love with it. This haircut though is the best Ive ever gotten. My hair looks soooo healthy, full, and is the exact length I wanted. Abigail is my new go-to woman for my hair cuts! Thank you soooo much!UPDATE:Nine months after my initial appointment with Abby (described above), I booked another with her. Im happy to say that the first appointment wasnt a fluke! After having the first appointment turn out so well, I realized how upset I was that I didnt get before and after photos so I got some this time. I even came in wanting a different style cut than last time, so shes more than capable in cutting different styles. This time I wanted 6 inches off and long layers. Once again, she nailed it and Im in absolute love with my hair!

I had been seeking a hair stylist in Columbia that can work with my thick, very blonde hair for years. After reading Brittanys excellent reviews, I gave her a shot. Not only is she a very genuine person, she cut a good 6 inches off my hair during my first visit and made my new do look amazing. Im still obsessed with my hair two weeks later. Ill definitely be back to visit Brittany and I hope others do as well.

I didn’t even make it to the front door. I scheduled an appointment for a simple men’s hair cut and called to let them know I was running late. Turns out I was double booked and was going to rushed while someone else was getting their hair done at the same time.

On a whim I made an appointment with Laura at Five Points Salon and I have been going back for two years now. She listens and respects my wishes but also really knows what she is doing. The quality of work I see happening from all the stylists is not only professional but exciting and I have never seen someone leave unhappy. I have gotten many services done there from eyebrow waxes to up-dos and I have always left satisfied. And the Aveda products provided are always wonderful and eco-friendly! My favorite part about Five Points Salon is the atmosphere and the friendly nature of everyone there. Half the reason I go to the salon is to relax and feel good and John always starts off that experience when he greets you at the front door. I have shared many life events with everyone there and I consider them to be part of my family here now! I cannot recommend them enough! Oh and did I mention how great my hair looks?

First, I have to say I love Aveda products. I have traveled all over the country, and have had hair appointments in many states in upscale salons. I just graduated from Carolina and during my senior year I decided to take a shot at the Five Points Salon. I was hooked up with Brittany Miller who corrected a terrible color I received from another salon in town. It was terrible- and she fixed it and made me look great. I went back to Brittany several times and am very sad to be moving across the country. Every time I visit the salon, I feel the team is working together with no drama in a relaxing, laid back environment. I would recommend to anyone- Ive seen great guy hair cuts come out of that place as well! The prices are way too reasonable for the amount of talent that place produces. Thanks Five Pts Salon for making my last year in SC less stressful:) I hope I find another Brittany Miller in San Francisco! best of luck to the business.

Great salon in Five Points. Free parking out front so easy access. Its an Aveda salon, but on the smaller side, so while Aveda hair products are available for purchase, they dont sell anything for lips/makeup.Brittany Miller did a fantastic job on the hair cut - she made some suggestions at the beginning of the appointment and clearly knew how to handle curly hair. Despite the length and thickness of my hair, she never made me feel rushed and took her time to ensure it was cut properly. Id definitely go back to her if I was in the area longer.One important note: the salon doesnt let you put tips on your credit card, so have cash, check, or Venmo handy.

Brittany is the Best hairstylist I have ever been to! She always gets my hair the perfect Blonde and she gives a great CUT. She always layers it perfectly and its never choppy. Its so hard to find a stylist that can color Blonde hair without it being a little bit damaged but I have been going to her for years and my hair is super blonde and super healthy. I have followed Jaynes from his last salon to Five Points Salon and I could not be happier with my services! A few months ago I decided to get a lob and I was amazed with the results. He is a perfectionist and will not let me leave the salon until I look fabulous.

Worst haircut ever! Over three weeks later Im still struggling with all the layers (shelf-type layers) in the back of my short hair. One layer was only on one side and way at the top of the back. Nothing blends, different lengths on each side of my face. Dont go to Zack.
