Don’t listen to the haters and naysayers who clearly have way too much time and very little lives. Maes Hair Salon is the nicest, efficient, most professional shop in the area and that’s saying a lot considering that they’re are 4 other shops. Mae along with her staff have impeccable braiding and cutting skills that can only be found from the Mother land. Check out this shop if you want a breath of fresh air from the basic shops around.

This place is the worst salon ever! I wasted $220 for a box braids and the braids didnt lasted a month, the braids started falling out, and my hair got messy. They lying under them positive reviews. Please save your money and go somewhere better.

When I tell yall Ive been to all the shops in San Diego and still think this place is the best, it really isnt an understatement. From the moment you walk in the vibes of the friendly staff and the aura of the music will make you feel immediately at home. The shop is spacious and everyone was vaccinated and still wearing masks which I appreciate. They always wipe down their surfaces and are very strict with the Covid guidelines. I got the Knotless Braids superr long for 200 and they even added another deal on top of that with the hair inclusion. As Im writing this the braids still look brand new after me swimming in Cancun and 2 1/2 months of wear n tear. Maes Salon is the goat.

Good shop for natural hair twists, braids, trims whatever your natural hair need is.

Went on a Thursday morning for wash and small twists of my Afro. Wash & style were from 2 different people. Neither of which were Mae. They get a lot of customers so I can see why Mae herself cannot take care of all customers. The lady that did my hair was fast and friendly. I will return for twists.

Came to get instant locs and she did an amazing job. Tried growing them for a year with no luck but I came in and she fixed me up.

Got loc maintenance via interlocking instead of my normal palm roll to try it out and considering all the new growth I had it was pretty fast service. The price was reasonable as well.

Maes beauty salon is the best ! The girl that did my hair was so nice and talkative..I felt very comfortable while getting my hair did .. very good customer service.. And the owner acknowledges you being in her shop. She smiles and says hi . The shop is nice and clean with good music playing in the shop. I recommend everyone to go to her shop. I will be going back again for my braids!!!!

This place is the gold standard for Dread locks... Mae and her crew can take care of your dreads... Seriously 6 weeks or 6 months between visits when you leave you will be proud (6 months cost more) if you have dreads or want them check this place out

Best place in san diego, for any type of hair, miss Mae has a lot of clientele, but when your in her chair, she treats you like your her only customer for the day. She pays close attention to detail, and is very confident in her trade. She is very understanding when it comes to what YOU want, and only knowing her for doing my dreads, I felt very comfortable around her and her shop. I highly recommend you not to go to any other shop. Because she is definitely the best in town
