Beautiful location, amazing staff, and attentive service. An amazing place to live. The pool is clean, well maintained, and the dog park is lovely.
If you have a phobia of bugs don’t even think about it. I paid rent on time but never actually lived in my apartment due to the bugs. Just thinking about this makes me want a refund. Their excuse was it’s a wooded area. I’m thankful I got the place when I was in need, but the bugs kept me from thoroughly enjoying the space. Would not recommend if you have a fear of bugs…it causes unnecessary stress and anxiety!
Wooded, older complex with many insects and bugs. Maintenance is extremely slow with completing requests. Units have popcorn ceilings.
Havent lived there, but we looked. The complex is beautiful and amenities are great. Price is good and staff is beyond helpful. Walking trail to Lake Johnson!
Ha! This place is a complete joke. If you just have to stay here, definitely get a second floor apartment. If not, be ready to get well acquainted with the spiders, centipedes and other insects that will literally take over your apartment. No matter how clean you are, the bugs will be there with you. The maintenance team is a joke! Had to call for repairs to my HVAC FOUR times and it was still not properly fixed. The cabinets, counters and floors are outdated. The plus to this place is the lake nearby with a walking trail. The staff screwed up my lease twice...basically don’t move here unless ur on a time crunch and have no where else to go. Moved from this property going on 2 months ago now and haven’t looked back.
We recently moved in, and have been pleased with everything so far. Quiet place, good location, nice greenway that connects to Lake Johnson and a wooded setting that I enjoy. Not to mention a nice fireplace and a screened in patio in the updated version: Staff has been very helpful and responsive with helping us move in as well! Great quality for the price so far.
I was born here, ive lived her for 19 years now and i love this place :)
I’ve been a resident here going on 4 months. When I was going through my application steps I was informed I was moving into a “NEWLY RENOVATED” apartment sad to say it wasn’t newly renovated I have all old appliances which some have broken down, or is in the process of breaking down. As far as everything else I’m highly content it’s very quiet, neighbor’s are friendly, and both maintenance and office staff are great. Special Thank you to Mb, J, and Mh you ladies and gentlemen are great.
My boyfriend and I were looking for a new apartment and Jalan from ARIUM showed us a lot of great options. Upgraded apartments and a beautiful dog park for our fur babies. Not to mention is it’s extremely close to lake Johnson! Perfect for the weekends or if we want to take the dogs on a longer walk. It’s also close to downtown, state, grocery stores and gas stations. Really the most ideal location. We absolutely love living here!
My experience so far has been positive. All of my interactions with office staff have been friendly, professional, and accommodating. The buildings are a bit older so there are inherently issues with that, but the apartment itself (we have a renovated unit) are nice for what it is. Any maintenance requests I’ve submitted had been fixed quickly and competently.Great location, 10 mins from downtown, 10 from crossroads (major shopping area), and maybe 10-20 from almost anything else of note. The property backs right up to lake Johnson, it’s maybe a 5 minute walk to the nearest entrance.I can’t speak for other managements but we haven’t had any issues here so far. For price, location, quality and safety this is really hard to beat. Seriously we looked at literally everything in the Raleigh area in our price range. If you’re looking it definitely worth a stop.
I had originally thought this apartment complex was a decent deal for the price, but just this month, they erroneously auto-drafted ~300% the cost of our rent out of our bank account one day and are now saying they will not be able to refund us the money... they are simply going to use it to count towards our rent the next few months, which we had not planned on. This mistake caused us to overdraft our account and theyre not taking care to resolve this in a reasonable time frame. This is a huge error on their part and they do not seem to be taking it seriously, so I no longer recommend living here.
Beautiful location! I moved here from San Diego and absolutely love it here in Raleigh especially these apartments. Youre so close to everything. Love my wood burning fireplace. Office staff is very the most friendliest of people! They make you feel so welcome and at home with all their events and community gathering.
Update: The Property Manager is extremely kind and helpful. She was quick to respond and help find a solution to the problem. She has been able to help rectify the problem.I have considered leaving a review for awhile. I have really enjoyed how quiet it is and how convenient the location is. However, maintenance and pest control are an issue I have put in several work requests for the same issue and it goes on deaf ears.
Arium Lake Johnson is a really good place to live. Close to downtown and the grocery store and gas stations. Lake Johnson park is within walking distance as well as the trails! The staff is very kind and always able to help when needed. They throw very nice resident events, always with FOOD! Which is always a plus. I’ve been here almost a year and have no complaints! So far so good! I always recommend them when I hear someone say they are looking for an apartment.
Everything was fine no problems UNTIL i went to try and wash my clothes expecting everything to work. wasted detergent and then had to take everything out the washer and bring it back upstairs because they haven’t cleared the quarters and none of the machines were available for use. I then called the office to let them know and they told me i had to call the 1800 number and speak with them. First of all that is not my job i do not get paid to make sure the laundry centers are working properly! Other than that it would have been 5 stars
We lived here, our roof was hit by a tree during December. For a full month, the room was left open to the sky and we had to live elsewhere. They threw together a slapdash 2-day job in Jan, after leaving it OPEN FOR A MONTH, and so obviously there was tons of mold. We reported that we were coughing, sore throat, couldn’t breathe, that all went away when we went to live elsewhere. They told us there was nothing wrong. We sent in maintenance reports with pics of mold, they DELETED THEM from our maintenance request history (we took screenshots). When we tried to get a refund for the month that the roof was OPEN DURING DECEMBER, they refused because they “offered us another apartment” (which they never did give us the keys to). So happy to be living across the street at Remington Place instead - ARIUM is a bunch of con artists. If you live in 3020-G, watch out for mold sickness!!!
My experience has been quite pleasant overall - Professional management overall and good neighbors, cant ask for more actually.
Living in a 2 bedroom apartment ground floor. My apartment is not upgraded and we dont have lights and fans in our bed rooms. We see cockroaches and grass bugs at times. Emergency maintenance attends call even off time from the community but they didnt show up on time for me. Not sure if they provide fans & lights in upgraded apartments.
IT’S NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!! Not even half the price!!!I’m not happy with my 18 months stay in this apartment. I had a bad experience when moving in. I was given a wrong apartment. I decided to shorten my lease as a result but they rectified it and gave me the renovated apartment which they had shown me during the initial tour.Even the renovated apartment has issues!!!Gnats: there is a season when you get swarms of gnats in your kitchen. The gnats even try to enter your mouth when eating.Dark inside: it’s like a cave inside the house. No ceiling lights in any of the bedrooms or sitting room.We had spread our car boot mat in our patio to dry but we couldn’t find it the next morning. We complained and they promised to ask around but they didn’t. We had to personally ask all the maintenance guys before they admitted they took it and returned it to us.When it rained, our front door was usually flooded and we tip toed into the house. It’s so bad that our packages get delivered to the front door and left inside the rain water!Bugs!!! Cockroaches and rats run in and out of your apartment every day.I wish I could shout it out. There are better and newer apartments at the same price. Just look around. When moving out we were billed for broken blinds and some few crayon marks on the wall. $100 per wall!!! We stayed there for almost 2 years. This is regular wear and tear. The only good thing is that the maintenance guys respond very fast to online maintenance requests which I usually make a lot because the appliances break down often.
I’ve had a great experience so far! The staff members are always nice, helpful, efficient and very respectful. The maintenance response is quick. The grounds are always clean and the community events are great!
Nice and peaceful society. Very Clean and staff are proactive.
I love my new apartment and Chrissy and the other women at the office have gone out of their way to make sure I am happy. Maintenance has been very helpful also, and like others have said, my neighbors are friendly too!! Very happy here 😊
This is a beautiful location with the most helpful staff. Lake Johnson is literally in walking distance. Philip Centore was always available to answer questions and get me in the exact apartment I wanted. Any issues I had with the apartment or space was handled within 24 hours and was extremely hassle free.
Great place to lease with! They make you a deal and provide an A+ service. One way they could improve is service post lease.
DO NOT LIVE HERE. Leaving ends up being just as hard as living there. I feel that they take advantage of the fact that they can claim they dont know what the condition was when you moved in because they didnt own it then. They should be gutting the apartment I lived in and instead they are charging me for the carpet and cleaning fees. With the exception of a spot on the inside of a closet door, that apartment is as I received it. In the end, while Im 100% that they are counting on this, I give up. I paid the last bill to be rid of them.SAVE yourself the insanity and bugs and pick somewhere else.On a side note - the responses to the negative reviews are rather pointless, dont you think? Its canned and it just serves to show that you are disconnected from the real issues at this property. You cant have a 48 hr maintenance guarantee and leave people months waiting on basic repairs. You arent sorry about my time at your apartment complex. That was clear then and it is now. You dont care because you have a revolving door of students you have access to who dont know better. This place looks awesome on the surface, but the reality is something much uglier.Good riddance.
I have lived here for one month so far and its been nothing but great so far. The resident staff is always helpful and I love the location. Close to Everything!!Update: 6 months and still very pleased with my decision to rent here!
If there is something like minus stars I will give this management and apartment. They are Evil. DO NOT LIVE HERE !!!!!! This is a Warning. For over 15 months they did not repair the AC In one of the 2 bedrooms. Dryer was bad and they brought an older dryer to replace it. Things even got lost and they did nothing to help locate or spread the word and it was the maintenance people who took it. My daughter wrote on a part of the wall and they are charging 300$ for paint. This is a bad place for you friend don’t do it!!!!!2 weeks after they told us to pay about 500 for crayon on the wall and after they threatened to call the police because of my loud voice. We tried to make payment online and we couldn’t because for some reason they have deactivated our account and we can’t even see the bill.Stupid
If you are considering moving here and property management is important to you do NOT move here! Property management is consistently terrible. They do not properly staff the offices so they are unable to help residents.they will allow maintenance folks to enter your apartment WITHOUT permission and they will make you wait 30 minutes to pick up a package. They have lost packages multiple times and do not seem to know what is happening at any time. It’s obvious they were not trained properly and the manager does not have their priorities in order at all. Only plus is proximity to Lake Johnson. Overall feeling: SUCKSSS, BE BETTER
I just moved here and I am very Satisfied . The staff is amazing Everything Tania told me that would be in my apartment is there . Today we got screened in porches !!!! I can’t wait for the spring n summer time . Upgraded amenities and it just keeps upgrading. I love my apartment .
I love the layout of my apartment and the location of this community in the Raleigh area. I also have great neighbors. The maintenance staff has been very helpful since I moved back to this community. I lived at Walnut Creek for 12 years previously. Im glad Ariums staff is continuing the good work for the residents. The office staff is always very friendly and is good about getting back to me if I leave a message. The clubhouse is very nice and I love the pool area. The only thing that I am disappointed in is the fact that I havent heard anything about the landscaping issues at my building and the possible updates to my kitchen appliances.Overall, Im very glad that I chose to move back to this community and hope to stay here for a long time to come. I would have no problem recommending this community to others.Thank You!
The apartment complex was so awesome. I really love the area it was in. It is just the kind of place that I could call home. It was quite clean with a very beautiful floor plan. The kitchen and the bath was really nice. I would definitely recommend the complex to anyone.
We looked around countless apartment complexes and never found one as welcoming as Arium! In a bind, we needed to move within a week and Phillip made it completely easy. Also can’t beat the scenery around the complex, as well as the affordable rates.
I love lake Johnson it’s a beautiful environment especially for my asthma. The fresh air waking my up along side the fire place burning in the winter it’s amazing and pretty .
Very expensive, poor service and disgusting apartments. DO NOT LIVE HERE FIND A BETTER PLACE NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
These are great apartments in a great area. They are a bit older and that brings some issues, but the maintenance and office staff are always friendly and quick to respond to such issues. I have loved my time here and will always recommend it to others.
Terrible response time. Wife and I had to move out during the COVID-19 pandemic and they were the absolute worst to deal with. Emails were left not responded to. I turned in my keys through the proper procedure and forms several weeks early from my move out date and still got a phone call asking if I had moved out yet, showing how unorganized their office is
Update:After speaking with Miriam, an office manager, on the phone she was very polite, understanding, and responsive to our issues. So far she is the only good experience we have with this apartment complex and for that I’ll add an extra star.My husband and I lived here from July 2019 to May 2020. The apartment was below average compared to other complexes in the area, no matter how much we cleaned the apartment was constantly full of spiders and occasionally roaches, and the washer/dryer only worked half the time and never fully dried clothes. We gave up on work orders and contacting the office as they take weeks to respond no matter what you need and have on more than one occasion said they never received our messages even though we called and emailed multiple times. In the process of terminating our lease early in order to find a more suitable place to live I was notified that they could not talk to me about the lease because only my husband was on the lease, which was completely false as I had been put on the lease months early and proves to me that they are not capable of managing paperwork. On top of the issues we had living there, the move out process has been beyond atrocious. We payed 2 months rent as a buy out fee and sent our intent to vacate and tried calling several times and it took their office several WEEKS to get back to us. Then, after we already turned in the keys and paid our final months rent they contacted us a week later asking for the keys which we already turned in. Just seems like they are terrible at communicating among their office and with tenants.
We have lived here for 9 months. Things are mostly clean, they respond to maintenance requests quickly, and we felt safe. We did have a centipede problem in summer months. We left because they were increasing rent by 6% for 12 month lease renewal even though we live in a non-renovated apartment.
My wife, cat, and dog have lived her for almost two years and weve thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful location (just steps away from Lake Johnson), quiet neighbors, and great staff that go out of their way to work with you. We hate to leave, to be honest. High recommended.
I’m new here in Raleigh. Really good place to live areas are nice and clean. They make everything possible to do it right. Thanks
I have been with Arium since they were Walnut Creek Apartments. I can say it has definitely been a drastic change. Fresh new accents such as the screened in balconies really compliment the experience. Arium is a whole vibe.
I think its pretty funny that theyre making fake accounts with generic first and last names to give the same scripted positive review. New management company screwed this place up and theyre trying to alter the average review rating. Use common sense my friends.
The leasing staff here is very pleasant! Very quiet community in a great area! It was a pleasure meeting Philip and his team!
Lived here for two years and LOVED it. Right next to lake johnson, a trail, and easy access to the highway. Had bugs occasionally and some things would break, but the staff was always so friendly and got on it right away. It is in the woods so we expected the bugs. Thanks for a great experience 😁 I would live here again.
I am enjoying the new property managers. They are constantly improving the properly. The staff is generous and kind!
So far so good!👍🏾 Only been here a short time. Jaylin and the staff have been very helpful. I appreciate their patience. LookIng forward to a great stay here.
Wonderful place to live. We love the location, design and friendly, professional office management!!!!I love calling Arium Lake Johnson home ❤️
Ive been living in this complex since 2017, and I had no complaints until the new management took over. Since then, my packages have gotten lost, maintenance requests have been slow in being completed, and we were essentially tricked into signing a new lease. They never sent out a notice to us about the new prices, and we had to contact the office ourselves to get any sort of quote. And when we did, the price was way more than either of us had expected it to be, but by that point, it was too late to back out.Weve had mold growing in our kitchen, and I put in a maintenance request almost a month ago, and its still labeled as in progress. Despite having also put in requests for bug maintenance, were still getting roaches in the apartment. Our door doesnt close, the dishwasher only sometimes works, and our AC is working overtime and upping our electricity bill. And we just discovered yesterday that theyre overcharging our rent by almost $200 more than what was agreed upon in the lease we signed.Overall, were severely disappointed in the new management. Im not sure if theyre being malicious with their intentions, or if theres some form of lazy miscommunication going on, but with the amount that theyre making us pay now, the customer service and response time should be much better than it is.
I have been living at Arium Lake Johnson for almost 2 months now, and I must say I love it. I wanted to wait a bit to leave a review so I had a full perspective of living here, not just moving in.The Leasing Consultants and the Assistant Manager have been a pleasure to work with from the moment I toured the community. Jalan toured me twice because I wanted to be SURE this was *the* place, and the second interaction I had certainly sealed the deal, I felt immediately at home. Jalan was friendly, remembered who I was, and had no problems answering the 84789 questions I had via phone or email!!!The maintenance guys are professionally friendly, and typically get things done within 48-72 hours of submitting non-emergency requests (which is fine the property is huge and only so many of them) and they are respectful which is a double plus. I can not speak on how emergency calls are handled as I have not had to call one in, but interacting with these gentlemen I do believe they would be on top of the job! (will update if I experience an emergency and how they handle it)Also want to throw in here, no household roaches that I have seen. Now come summer time it may be different with those terrible water bugs, however they are a different kind of pest and cant be treated simply because they are a wood roach and well.....we are smack dab in the middle of the woods. Now to say that everything has been without a hitch, I would be lying. However, I understand that it IS a somewhat older property, not brand new, not luxury, ARIUM brand is still fairly new so its still trying to transition, there are definitely some quirky things (slightly outdated paint color, no overhead lights, or ceiling fans for 1st floor apartments anyway but these things I can live with) and people arent perfect, nor are they robots, and mistakes happen!I would 10/10 recommend this property to anyone considering moving here. The office and maintenance staff are very friendly, and aim to be efficient, as well as accommodating. Happy happy resident!
Beautiful and quiet location. The office is upgrading the facilities such as screen proctector. I am very happy to live here.
I have been a satisfied resident for 5 years at Arium Lake Johnson. When the management changed, I had apprehensions, as change can bring about a certain amount of anxiety. I can honestly say, I love the changes, and continue to be a very happy resident. They continuously strive to be the best! Miriam, Phillip, Jaelyn, and the rest of the staff are wonderful. You will not be unhappy when you make your home here at Arium Lake Johnson!
First, I want to state that weve lived here for 3 years with minimal issues. Under Bell Property Management. That said, I want to reflect what Erin said below. **A new company has purchased this complex a week ago** with no warning and the new owners are disrespectful. At least she got a 24 hour notice, their contractors entered our apartment with no notice while my little sister was home alone this morning and told her to move all our stuff out of the way for them to start the same construction project. We are in the middle of moving, the apartment is full of boxes, and they want us to find room to put the washer/dryer while they do it.Previous management verbally told us that they can wait to do our unit until after we move out. New management isnt respecting that and they arent respecting the rule of 24 hour written notice.DONT MOVE HERE!! The apartments arent that nice and the nice management company that was running it before is gone.
The apartments are nice, and this would theoretically be a nice place to live if the staff were replaced. Our apartment was damaged by a falling tree, the staff treated us as inconveniences whenever we asked to know when our apartment would be ready again, it wasn’t repaired for a full month, they still charged us rent, and when it was repaired, they did it in a 3 day slapdash job that left floors that dipped when you walked across them and musty, moldy smells from the water damage. Our maintenance requests vanished from the website “maintenance request history” tab, & they claimed to never get maintenance requests that we had submitted & that were in our history. If they weren’t deleting, ignoring, and ducking our maintenance requests, they were entering our apartment at 11 pm to do them, or doing the bare minimum. I would not recommend this apartment complex under any circumstances. If you insist on living here, take screenshots of every maintenance request sent, save every email, and do everything in writing.
I went looking to move into this place LAST November, I told the guy Tino that I had a short window to move and he assured me that everything would be good to go. He showed me an apt and had me fill out the application. 3 days go by and I here nothing, I called and was told that he would call me back on Monday, he didnt I called him and was told to bring in my $100 deposit which I did in the form of a money order. I never heard back from him after that, I called and spoke with a young lady that told me they were undergoing new management and none of the applications had been processed. Its time for me to move out of the place were I was and now your telling me that my application didnt even go through. Why would your leasing agent tell me to bring my money in knowing this change was taking place? Here we are in September and I still havent received my money back. All dude had to say was we dont have anything available in the time frame that youre looking at. I want my $100 back asap!
The new owners downgraded the system for tracking package deliveries. You used to get an email from the leasing office that a package had arrived and then they would look up your apartment # on a tablet when you went to the office to retrieve it. Since the new owners took over they decided that a better system would be to use a 3-ring binder full of paper to track packages and no longer send out emails. Long story short, if someone sends you a package (i.e. a surprise birthday present) dont expect to find out unless the sender has notified you.
At this point I’m even debating on having anything shipped to my apartment and I order things online quite frequently. Since switching to ARIUM, I’ve had the worst experience picking up packages. Before, anytime one of my packages was delivered I would go to the front office, sign off on my package, and DONE. Now, I have to wait to specifically get an email from ARIUM before I can even pick up my package from the front office, which takes days after my package has been officially delivered. Do they not know it’s the Holiday season and people are trying to receive their packages on a timely manner? I expect to be able to pick up my package the same day it is delivered. For example, one of my orders was delivered on Saturday but I have yet to receive an email from ARIUM and it is now 2 days later... And I KNOW that as soon as I get to the front office they are only going to say “you have to wait for your package to be checked in by us and you have received an email from us”. I understand a lot of orders are coming in at the moment but this is not fair for any of the residents here. Also, they lost one of my boyfriends packages. Thank goodness for amazon prime, or else he would have never gotten his money back. ARIUM lake Johnson, please fix your mailing system.
DaChrisha RamseyThis location is extremely beautiful to me, I love the area, And this is my first apartment! They are so helpful at the front office, and everyone is so polite, they keep it so nice and clean .
Clean and peaceful place to live. Convenience for college students or those working in downtown.
I have here for about six weeks and so far have had a good experience. The apartments are nice, although the master bathroom is tiny. The staff has been friendly and courteous and addressed the minor issue i had immediately. The facilities are well maintained and I love the atmosphere.i would give it 5 stars but I would need to review several months from now to be fair.
TLDR: I know their site shows completely upgraded apartments. I know they are doing renovations. I know its an awesome spot. They started doing events and giving free concert tickets. However, I cannot recommend it, especially if you are super sensitive to your living environment (ex. allergies, energies, etc.).The why nots:I lived at the Lake Johnson location for 2 years. 1 year with a different management company. I will say that the transition was rough. My roof leaked (second floor apartment) and it took several months to get it fixed. But that was not my biggest issue. Towards the end of my stay, they had a several month backlog of maintenance requests. It took 5 weeks to get someone to look at my disposal so I could use my kitchen sink. And then there were the bugs. Just about every time I called for pest control. pest control conveniently could not get into my apartment. 1 set of keys, a door lock change, and 2 more key sets later, they finally could get in. I even stayed home several times only for them not to show up. I am a clean person, yet I had cockroaches crawling across my bed! The sub-floor (under the carpet) had gaps the width of my feet in it or gave a half inch in spots. 5 weeks of weather took its toll and while Im sure there is mold, nothing was done for it. The dryer had a metal on metal sound when it rotated. And the windows are SUPER drafty, driving up the heating and cooling costs. I ended up providing them a slide deck with photos of major issues and using a room layout, created a map of where the problems were. I didnt even get an acknowledgement of receipt for that. I even had someone puke on my car - on the door handle for the driver door.I had staff laugh at me on the phone when I called because I had not heard from service or it was taking forever. I went so far as to leave a poor review through their own feedback portal and brought a cockroach to the front office in hopes someone would take me seriously. The bagged roach finally got some attention, but only once. And when the problem came back .... nothing but access problems. The location is wonderful. Very convenient. The park is within walking distance, which is also awesome. Its 82 acres of forest in the middle of the city and I was as far from Rte 40 as you could get. It was nice. But it turned into a nightmare for me. I cannot recommend the location or the property management company.
My experience with ARIUM Lake Johnson has been WONDERDFUL.. Its very peaceful and the staff is allways helpful.. I been here almost a year and have not had any problems..
New management is absolutely dreadful. The package system, as everyone else has said, is slow and infuriating. It has taken 2 days for them to ALLOW me to pick up my package. I can see its been delivered on Amazon, and I even saw it in the office, but wasnt ALLOWED to pick it up and sign for it. Incredibly frustrating.Ive heard other horror stories from close friends who have had broken AC and other issues that took upwards of 2 weeks to fix.Neither of these things EVER happened to me in my 4 years of living here prior to new management. Theyre also all quite unfriendly in my experiences with them. I do NOT recommend living here, and I am already looking to move out.
The new owners do not care for the clients and will charge you for things that are their fault. They use fake reviews from a paid company and bribe current tenants for five star reviews. Their latest was a chance to win concert tickets in exchange for reviews.
Older units but well maintained, can’t beat the location with its access to 40, centralized location, and immediate access to Lake Johnson, reasonable price too. A culture of excellance exists as promoted by the leadership that filters down through all levels of the staff. The fellow residents are respectful neighbors, checks all the boxes you’d want!
Once Arium bought the property, it became a terrible place to live. We had a lot of issues with our apartment and consistently our maintenance requests would be ignored. Every interaction we had with the leasing office staff was among the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The staff was rude, unhelpful, uninformed, and they tried to make everything seem like our fault in ridiculous ways. We were once chided for emailing the address listed on their website under Contact Us, because they dont check that one. The buildings are nice and Lake Johnson is wonderful, but the moment anything goes wrong in your apartment it becomes a terrible place to live due to the management company.
Friendly, efficient staff. Quite and very clean aparment. We love it.
The apartment seemed nice when we first moved in. It is close to the NCSU campus and stores. Then we started noticing things. The apartment is SMALL. The floors were not level. The toilet leaked. The air conditioner wouldnt hold a charge, and the air coming out was never cold. We told maintenance several times about it, but they never did anything. At least the heater worked. The apartment had the appliance upgrade, which was the only thing nice about it. When it came time to renew, they wanted to raise the rent $100 a month! We looked around and found a much nicer, larger apartment for the same rent we had been paying. When it came time to move out, boy, thats when they showed their true colors. They charged us for replacing the entire carpet due to pet urine when there was no urine on the carpet. The office staff seemed nice at first, but they wouldnt return calls, kept changing their stories when we finally talked to someone, and down right lied to us several times. The maintenance people are a joke. The office staff are dishonest. Save yourself a headache. DO NOT RENT HERE! There are much nicer apartments in the area.
I have been living here for almost 2 years at the time of this review. My experience here has been fairly good. The staff are professional and helpful, maintenance and support is good. The area is great, quiet, out of the way of heavy traffic, and neighbors are respectful. The reason for the 2 star rating is meant for the apartment itself. Ever since my 3rd day of moving in I started seeing roaches enter my apartment. I have contacted the front desk about this probably 3-4 times and every time the exterminator comes out to they dont really do much as to look into as to where and how they are coming in. Most of the times they would just come up with a possible reason and do a couple of sprays outside the apartment and be on their way. I have been told also by the maintenance staff when they decided to take a look that they may be water bugs instead of roaches(which they are obviously not). My opinion on why this is occurring is that my apartment was renovated prior to me moving in but not every small opening was sealed properly. I state this because I noticed the pests came through small opening underneath my carpet, the water heater area, and through the ventilation system. Walnut Creek is an OK place to live, just not long term.EDIT:MOVE HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. The last couple of weeks I have filed a noise complaint in regards about my upstairs neighbor constantly making noise early in the mornings, as early as 0430-0600. I have contacted the landlord about it but the most they could do is tell the occupant to mind their neighbors. My upstairs neighbor is stating to the landlord that it is the person that lives on the other side of the building that is making the noise ( which is not true due to I constantly hear them walking back and forth and constantly moving stuff right above my apartment). I have tried to speak with the tenant but it is at the point where they will not acknowledge me and now they are ignoring me, even when I was trying to reason with them. My landlord hasnt been much help either due to I had constantly requested assistance with the issue and possibly request an early release on my lease as it is affecting my health and work ethics. But no success, I just keep receiving excuses one after another. They did state that they have a project to repair the tenants floor as it is making very loud creeks which causes me to wake up very early in the mornings but a project like that tends to take several weeks to resolve. I have used to enjoy my time here but now I cannot wait for the day that I turn in my keys and never hear from this place again.
[email protected] is 0% helpful- I doubt any these 1 star reviews had any type of productive outcome or resolution. The apartment is OK- however new management really took advantage of the We may make reasonable changes to written rules, effective immediately, if they are distributed and applicable to all units in the apartment community and do not change dollar amounts on page clause of the lease. The 12 month lease that I signed was essentially only valid for 4 months before Arium gutted it and forced all residents to abide by its new diet version of the lease. There have been many subtle changes that all seem to have central theme of Arium first, residents second. The final straw for me, which led to this petty one star review, was being told that I could not sublet to my friend.
Im a bit peturbed that the pool isnt open yet!! It should be open NOW!!! ITs been hot for a month already!!! I think the complex is nice, but if were paying for amenities...we should be able to use them!! The gym could also use an upgrade! But the staff are good people.
Edited from 5 stars following management shift. This apartment complex has recently come under new management, who has had a really tough time with the transition and the following months. They can not seem to get out of their own way, constant errors and preventable mistakes stemming from high internal turnover and inept staff. The apartments themselves are still really great, amazing woods setting far enough away from the city and close enough to I-40 for quick access to downtown and whatever else you need, not to mention the proximity to Lake Johnson (5 min walk).
I just contacted them regarding my shower head pipe being broken. I was told it was not an emergency situation, and they dont know when they can get someone to fix it. I cant even take a shower in my own apartment. That is an emergency.
I live by myself and renting 1b1b apartment at ARIUM LAKE JOHNSON. And I need to pay $150 for my Electric bill to lessae office because I am a foreigner cannot Finnish my Duke Energy account. And I swear I didnt cook every day, not open the light all the time, the heating system always at 70℉. I asked the leesae office why I need to pay the much for my 800 square feet apartment and the said always like that. I asked all my friends and they all cannot believe that.
Awesome location, convenient for people with stores close by. Clean apartments, wonderful staff.
The office people are very rude and are never there. I had an appointment at ten to pick up keys and didnt get them til much later because there was only one person there and their phone call seemed to be much more important. They also wouldnt let us into the pool, which is supposed to close at dusk, when it was still two hours til the sun started to set. The picture of a newly renovated apartment has a microwave, but is there ever any truth in advertising? Guess not.
Changing my 5 star review to one star. New management was not tenet friendly, massively increased rent and justified it with cheap perks. I would not recommend living here.
PETOWNERS DO NOT MOVE HERE! Do not move here if you care about your pets or want any privacy at all. Since we have been living here in August, there has been multiple notices that maintenance will be in your apartment for multiple days. This is the second time they have said they will be in our apartment for 5 days and we need to secure our pets and our valuables... They gave us a notice tonight.. that they will be in all week including yesterday and today... so were they already in here??? They do not care about their residents.
My experience has been good except for someone stealing my package from in front of my door. There need to be something in place to tell the courier if no one come to the door then take the package to the office.
My husband and I lived at Arium Lake Johnson and overall our experience with the front desk staff was horrible. They were unprofessional and made us feel like it was a burden to help us with our apartment. We had no hot water, no working stove or oven, and no air conditioning in the summer for 3 days- the office and maintenance tried minimally to fix the problem, offered us no compensation for the 3 days we were without utilities, and required us to call them multiple times when they would not return our calls. My husband ultimately had to work directly with Duke Energy to get the problem resolved. When I put in a formal complaint with WeListen@ARIUMliving, they were also very rude and defending the unprofessional behavior of their staff. Very disappointed with this experience and do not recommend living in an apartment where the local staff and corporate office do not care about their residents.
Very nice office staff and they address any issues you have in a timely manner. I mean come on people we are right smack in the woods so yes your gonna see things that come out the woods smh some people. Over all not a bad place to live currently under going some really nice renovations.
I dedicate this review to the staff and maintenance. In every experience they have always been pleasant efficient and very considerate of my belongings in my apartment. also a joy to talk to, thanks!
I dont really know why there are a bunch of negative reviews on here, but I have lived here since 2013 and I love it. We have lived in both a 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom. Sales staff/management is awesome and super friendly. The maintenance staff is also great - outside of peak times (August, when everyone moves in), we have had our requests fixed within 24 hours. Most folks who live here are grad students, singles, or small families, and in the 4.5 years we have lived here, we only had one issues with noise (which was promptly taken care after emailing the staff). They are extremely pet friendly and have one of the lowest pet deposit/fees in the area. One of my favorite things, though, is that the whole complex is surrounded by trees/woods, and it is right next to lake Johnson. It may be 10 minutes from downtown, but it feels like youre in Garner (in the good way). Also, compared to a lot of apartments in the area, these apartments are very reasonably priced. To the folks who complained about paying, they have some specific rules involving paying by (physical) check, but you can pay online using your checking account number without a fee, anytime. And rent is due ON THE FIRST, they just happen to give you until the 5th before you get a late fee. So quit complaining about getting slapped with a fee just because you waited until the last minute on the 5th to pay them with a physical check, because technically you are already late paying.
The new management is rude. Living here was great until we got new management. Its like they are trying to run people off. They had a crew come in to fix the dryer or ventilation or something. They trashed our apartment and they have done nothing to fix it. I theyre knew leasing options are ridiculous.they are trying to trap us into a new lease or a 1300 dollar month to month deal. I would recommend this place to nobody
They are amazing, they are super nice and whenever you need something done or anything they get it done!:)
I love the area
Went there to pick up an application for an apartment. When arriving to the office the staff seemed busy but they were having a personal conversation, I waited for them to acknowledge me so they knew I was there, and they then asked me to wait. There was a couple before me that they took to show apartments, it took about 15 minutes for them to go look at the apartments and then another 10 for them to talk about paper etc. Then they left and I continued waiting for someone to bring me back so they could help me. A woman came in and sat down, she then got up and started talking to the staff. they skipped me and took this woman before me, another 15 minutes pass and I was still waiting, no one checked up on me or acknowledged me. I was nothing but polite and pleasant mind you even though it was brief. I was waiting so long that I decided to go over and just get the application, because they obviously forgot me. They were unfriendly, unhelpful and unprofessional carrying on conversations that were too personal for the work place. Besides that when my Roomate went to pick up her application they were talking about yet again too personal things and made a racist comment about a celebrity that made her uncomfortable. Im sure the place would be fine to live but seeing who Id be dealing with living here definitely turned me off from wanting to live here. If these people worked for me Id definitely fire them, friendliness, helpfulness and politeness always pays for itself.
I lived there for 2 years. It was good and enjoyable experience. It is one of the good complexes near the NCSU and the monthly rate for my apartment was pretty low.If anything is broken, they would fix it very quickly.
Warning Walnut Creek Apartments, previously owned by Bell properties was taken over and renamed Arium at Lake Johnson in November 2018. The new management company is terrible, starting mandatory construction projects in the apartment with 1 day notice and then dragging them on for weeks at a at time making parts of the living space unusable. I have called numerous time to the office to verify when the project expects to be done and then tell me that day, only for me to arrive home and find nothing has changed.
Walnut Creek are great student apartments compared to others in the area, but I wouldnt live in them if you are not a student. The ventilation in them is really bad: the slightest bit of steam from cooking can set off the alarms and it takes an hour for them to turn off. Further, the heating and cooling only works for the shared living spaces and maybe one bedroom. If you have an external facing room, good luck keeping it below 80 in the summer and above 58 in the winter.Other than that, they are great and affordable apartment; just a tad overpriced compared to options further from campus. The maintenance and office staff are very kind and welcoming, and understanding of issues. Repairs are quick and timely. The staff are also extremely dog friendly!
DO NOT SIGN LEASE! Mold in our apartment around the showerhead, its pretty obvious theres a leak since it it only around there and the drywall was falling off. We asked them to come fix it in December. They came and replaced the wall and said the mold is from steam and to keep the door open when showering... Obviously the mold returned. I went in on Sunday to place a work order. Waited 48 hours with no response. Called them today and they said theres no work order, you should do it online so there is no human error. They said sometimes the office workers forget to hit send. They also claim free rent credit for every day after 48 hours that there is no response. But they said it doesnt apply to us because there is no work order. This is ridiculous. Do not move here!
So far I like living here and I feel safe.
Disappointed with the new management- mail handling, office hours, even the portal to setup automatic payment. Ive been contacted by the leasing office several times that I moved out without returning the apartment key back and my lease doesnt end until the summer. I have a missing package, which I saw that it was delivered on their tablet and they asked me to come back again the next day and why I came the next day they told me to check with the sender to check if it was delivered to the office although it was showing on the tablet. They dont send out emails once packages are received. Staff are generally not friendly.
First, the good: Office staff has been super nice. Grounds are well kept, maintenance has been prompt every time I had an issue. The apartments are older, smaller, with walls and carpet show their age. Kitchen can range from nice to old, depending on the unit. The biggest issue for me was the continual pest issue. There was an exterminator who came around every time you requested, which did help, but never solved the problem.Depending on what kind of a deal you can get, this can be a decent place to live for cheaper and close to NCSU.
It is unfair that google forces me to award even one star. I lived at this property when it was managed by Bell Partners and known as Walnut Creek Apartments. Back then, it would have been a 5/5 without a doubt. Beautiful location near the lake, great access to I-40, and only 15 minutes (with traffic!) to downtown. Management was always friendly and the systems worked great. And then the transition. Arium took over the apartment complex and renamed it as Arium Lake Johnson. As soon as it happened, everything went down the drain. The lower level management staff are atrociously rude (literal shrugs and not my problem eye rolling) over problems they caused. Work orders were filled incorrectly which constantly sent people to our apartment when it wasnt requested (normally I wouldnt care, but its not good for people to come into our home unannounced as we leave the dog out and we are not home). Work requests we did complete caused far more problems (splashing paint all across our TV, coffee table, artwork) that we decided to live with the malfunctions. So much miscommunication. Constant emails for package pick ups when no packages have arrived. Trash is a complete mess now and something is always closed- the pool, the lights for the courts dont work, etc. And lastly, they are unwilling and inflexible for their residents. I am a student and I wanted to move out early August after summer sessions but my lease ended in May. Bell Partners had said I could stay with a $200 additional month to month fee- this is totally fair. So when the contracts moved over with Arium, I asked multiple people how I can either extend my lease contract for 2 months or create a new one until my planned move out, or at least keep with what Bell Partners had promised (the additional $200 month to month fee). Arium told me they only sign 6 month or longer contracts. I couldnt sign another contract as I was moving out of the state. But thats when they said they would only add an additional $200 to the rent. I was so relieved, I could afford to live until summer session was over. But then as soon as my lease ended, they charged me rent and half (RENT AND A HALF) until my move out date. I never signed a contract with them and I was told in person and over the phone it would only be a $200 increase. Turns out, they decided to put the apartment to market price and THEN add $200. I was a student, so either I had to move into another apartment for 6 weeks or fork over my meager salary. Absolutely disgusted. They care about one thing and one thing only- your money. Nothing is their fault, nothing is their problem. Their lower level management staff are incredibly lacking in any sort of social skills- a literal robot would have been a more humane experience. Upper level management has better social skills, but at the end of the day, are still incompetent. Literally live anywhere else. You can check my reviews on Google- I am generally pretty understanding and overall positive (most of my ratings are 5/5). I encourage you to look closely at Ariums 5/5 ratings, they are made by people with incredibly vague names and only have 1 review- my guess is that these are being paid for or written by the staff. Also, if for whatever reason you decide to live here, go with a second story apartment- less cockroaches.
Editing to actually write some stuff,Edit: their move out policy is basically 4 months rent, be prepared.60 days notice and 2x rent. We only had 4 months left in our lease, and we cant break it early. We lived here for awhile before Arium took over. Before it was Bell Apartments, their staff was incredibly friendly, understanding, and wonderful. We even know our grounds keeper by name, and he knew us and our dogs. But ever since Arium bought it, its just gone down hill fast;-Within a week, they forced us all to sign new contracts and uped the price of living here.-They constantly messed up our rent, even though weve asked them every single time to fix it.-I went to pick up a package and was told you need to wait till 2pm or an e-mail from us This happened constantly. Despite knowing that my package was there, I was refused to be able to pick it up and my work hours prevented me from coming back later to get it.-The front staff where incredibly rude, like it was a burden for us to be there to pick up packages, or ask questions. Asking us to stop standing there and wait somewhere else, or in general have a snarky attitude.-They sent an e-mail out to ALL tenants saying rent was over due, and then when we replied stating that we had paid it they sent back as snarky email basically saying something along the lines of then ignore it (Someone else sent out an e-mail later clearifying it was an error, but still!)-Ive sent several e-mails asking questions or in general reporting something and havent received a single response. Ive contacted them through several different means, including their contact fourm and direct e-mail. Nothing is responded to.-Our AC is working overtime, there are times it refuses to go below 84. Weve put in several requests for them to fix it, they say they do but it still wouldnt go below 84.-TRASH. There is trash EVERYWHERE. I dont know what changed between ownership, but now trash is littering the entire parking lot. Staff refuse to change the trash cans laid out throughout the grounds, and when they do they LEAVE THE BAG on the ground for WEEKS. Until they feel like walking 20 feet to put it in a dumpster.Im sorry but we probably wont be renewing the lease. We loved this place before but its just a mess now.
Terrible experience on package service. Firstly they are trapped by their weird and stupid package record system. One time I arrived at the leasing office at 6:05pm, two staffs were in the office . While I was standing outside for at least 2 min keep knocking the door, they pretend unnoticed. Finally a lady came to open the door with an angry face and told me the mailing system has been locked and I cannot get my package. The next time I arrived at 6:00pm and a guy can get my package with no problem. I was always fansinated by their mood-determined computer system. Secondly, as everybody said, they cannot give you the package until they record your package on their system. Even I showed up in the office telling them my package has arrived at their office (because I tracked my Amazon order ), their will kindly send you home without giving you your package because they have no time to record the package for you. Looks like your time is trivial and their time is precious.
I have lived here 7 years and am very disappointed in this new management. Office staff is not accommodating to the tenants. I have yet to receive any responses from my emails that have been sent to the property manager Whitney in reference to my concerns. On Memorial Day there were several non residents infiltrating the pool. I sent an email about this and asked that a more secure position be taken regarding this issue and to be resolved by the next holiday, July 4th.As of today I have not received any response. This is the second time I have contacted management with no reply.I also never receive any emails when the pool is closed. The office staff says they have sent emails, but myself and others have not received any email re: to pool closings.I also spoke with the office the day of a service call by maintainance telling them that no one shall enter my apt without me being home. I gave the office my my phone number and asked them to contact me before entering . This was not done and I came home to find maintainance in my apt without my permission. The office staff has an attitude that they are not here to please the residents.I am not the only resident that has expressed they are VERY DISSAPOINTED with this new management. I hear complaints every day when I am at the pool. Its very unfortunate that we lost all the Bell employees. They were caring and always made sure that our concerns were addressed.Carroll company you need to intervene .I and others are paying high end rent and should be given high end treatment!!
Great place to live. Really worth the value
I lived here from august 2015-2016. Maybe some things have changed since then, but I really enjoyed my time living here.Pros: the location is great, right next to lake johnson and the beltway, secluded, grounds are well kept; the apartments only have two stories, so you wont have to climb several flights of stairs; there were rarely problems requiring maintence, but if there were they were always quick and responsive; the office workers were always friendly as well; I never had any bug problems, but I also had a cat.Cons: the apartments are older, the kitchen is very small, so if you cook with someone else you will bump into each other frequently and you might not have enough space if making a complicated dish or if you have several appliances; if you are unloading dishes you cannot access the fridge or the laundry. That is my only complaint.
The office staff and maintenance people are very nice and helpful. Good things end there. First thing that happened to us, drier takes 2+ hours to dry clothes. We contacted maintenance, and they blew out the vent - 3 separate times. It didnt help at all. Were just about to move, the drier now gets stuck running for hours, and doesnt even heat up. Lots of spiders and bugs get into the apartment because they dont let you turn off the light by the front door. So at night in the warm weather you have to open and close the front door really fast, and have no lights on inside in order for no bugs to wander in. This is also super annoying as it shines into the bedroom window, and illuminates the room even with the blinds closed. We had the water heater in the apartment above us break. This flooded our bathroom, and soaked the carpet outside of it. It was so bad that water was dripping out of light fixtures, and now the ceiling is sagging in one area. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing. Also, the wooden steps to get to the 2nd floor apartments are right against the walls for the master bedrooms. Whenever someone walks up the stairs outside, it shakes my wall, and wakes me up. The walls look like theyve been patched several times. I hate this place.
