Seriously - live anywhere else. This apartment complex is terrible. Summary of problems: mold in the windows and washer, cockroaches throughout the building, leaking windows and doors, absolutely zero sound proofing from the street. The apartment was disgusting at move in - the washer was coated in mold and someone else’s pet fur. They “cleaned” it by wiping out the pet fur, but you could see that the mold was growing into the rubber of the washer. Took them over a month to replace our washer. On top of that - there was (and still is) mold growing between the window panes. We were consistently told it was “just pollen”. Additionally - literally every window and door that led to the exterior would leak when it rained. For 10months the complex had contractors coming into the apartment to give them “solitons” but they never actually solved the issue. They gave us a dehumidifier to deal with the issue in the short term, but would take it away any time there was water damage in another apartment. We were told that they would order weather stripping for the doors about a month before we left and never got it. There was also water damage and leaking pipes in the stairwells. The complex also has a consistent problem with roaches - you’ll see them in the hallways and stairwells, regardless of what floor you live on. If you have an apartment facing N Boylan - good luck sleeping at night. There is absolutely zero sound insulation from the street so you will hear every car rev, drunken fight, or party that happens on the street (and theres a ton given that you’re right next to glenwood south). We ended up breaking the lease and moving to a new apartment.
Great location, quality apartments and enjoyable amenities. The leasing office and maintenance team always go above and beyond to make their residents feel at home. Excellent value for the cost of rent!
Our experience has been great! We love how beautiful the complex is and our location couldnt be better. We really appreciate how transparent and helpful Ms.V has been and really look forward to our stay here. I do hope they open up the pool/hot tub soon, because that was a big selling point for us.
Great location -- walkable to Glenwood South, the Village District, and downtown! Friendly management. Maintenance issues were rare and resolved quickly when reported. Nice amenities too -- pool, gym, coffee, etc.
Recently moved in, has been a great experience so far. Nice amenities, friendly staff, along with other residents.
Loved the location. Apartment was very nice.
Great complex, who prioritize customer service. Couldnt have asked for more, kudos to Sandra, Miss V, Genesis and Mohammad, great team.
All packages are going missing!!! Literally worth of $700 packages gone! Front desk don’t know anything even though it’s says “package was left at the front desk”. Seriously???? Get organized, management. It’s not that hard to manage packages. Hire a person and make sure we receive packages at the door or something. MESS!!!!
Please do yourself a favor and dont live here. Downtown Raleigh is a great place to live but 712 Tucker is terrible.1. Safety: Security in this place is atrocious. Doors and gates are constantly broken, so pretty much anyone can walk right into the building. Ive had my door kicked in and my neighbor had a brick thrown through her window. You can also find homeless men sleeping in the common area very often, so enjoy those early morning walks with caution.2. Fire Alarm: Its kind of weird to complain about a fire alarm system but the alarm in this place goes off all the time. At least once a month you will be woken up in the middle of the night with the alarm blasting.3. Community: The community here really shifted toward a young college crowd. During Covid you could see plenty of people filling in to party and drink. Management was completely useless and the only thing they did was write a few sternly worded emails. Last month, we were notified a resident tested positive, yet you can still find the same party atmosphere.4. Management: The 712 management team is completely inept and useless. If there is ever a problem, pray you don’t need their assistance. Honestly, I would be shocked if any of those people had even a high school diploma.
Had a terrific time here at 712. The apartment complex is fab, as central to the hub of Raleigh as you can get and a terrific place to call home. Unfortunately for me, its also just around the corner from the best pub for miles around so I left a few pounds heavier than when I arrived. The entire management team is a true pleasure to work with (thanks to Sandra and Miss V in particular) and are always so friendly to everyone (and their pets). I had to terminate my lease early due to unforeseen circumstances and could not have asked for more from the team in helping me navigate through what was a stressful experience. Having come from a new build, upmarket complex where both the clientele and management were all a bit up themselves, staying at 712 was a refreshing experience overall.
Rude staff. Do not respond to emails or fix problems. Charge you for valet trash even if you do not want it/ use it. Fire alarms constantly going off. Broken coffee machine. Outside doors do not close, anyone can get into the building.
This place has come a long way since being owned by the same company as the place across the street. Management and maintenance are now very responsive, parking has finally opened up, and the complex has made many improvements to their amenities. One of the only places I know of with a hot tub too, which is open year-round.
My husband and I have lived her for 2 years, we have enjoyed the experience and will be sad to leave when the time comes. Ericka and Sandra have been great, and you cant beat the location! No complaints!!
We had the opportunity to stay here when visiting a relative and had such a great experience. The pool and gym are great and the location is perfect. We’ve been thinking of moving to the area and 712 Tucker will definitely be on the top of our list.
I toured this property a few months ago and just moved in. I knew right away this was the place for my husband and me!!! The front staff(Sandra and Ericka) were so welcoming and helpful through the entire process. We love all the amenities and the location is awesome!!! I highly recommend this property to anyone.Heidi D.
Had a recurring washing machine problem that was not the fault of the apartment complex. Mike and the maintenance team were diligent to figure out the problem and follow up to make sure everything was as it should be.
Fantastic apartment, great staff and great location. This was the best apartment I ever lived in. The front office is more than willing to help you with any problem you have and the maintenance team fixes things in a timely manner. Unfortunately I had to move out because my job had me moving from Raleigh otherwise I would have stayed. With all the new changes coming to the building I feel like I will be missing out on a place the delivers on more than what it costs. I would urge anyone who wants to live in downtown Raleigh to check out 712 Tucker St you wont leave without wanting to live there, thats what happened to me a year ago.
Aside from one person, 712 has some of the worst leasing agents I’ve ever experienced. I’ve lived in apartments for almost 10 years and have never talked with management as rude as 712 Tucker. The floor plan, location and amenities are great, but the management almost ruins the entire experience.[UPDATE] I’m lowering my rating to one star after yet ANOTHER false fire alarm woke up the community at 2:30 AM on a Sunday night. There was no smoke, nor was there any immediate danger of fire. This seems to happen at least once per month.
Worst place you could possibly live!
I recently toured this property and was quite impressed! I must say after reading some online reviews, I was kind of hesitant to stop by. However, I thought the property was beautiful. It is in a great location of Raleigh, and close to everything you would need. I am unsure of my move date, but when the time comes for me to make the move to Raleigh, they will definitely be one of my top choices. The staff was very friendly, took their time to show me around, and explained things thoroughly. I also noticed the pricing is better than other places in the area. Keep up the good work!
Ive had nothing but a good experience with the management staff and my living experience at 712 Tucker. If youre looking for a great apartment in Glenwood South and the vibrant community this is the place for you!
Great staff! And great building
I have loved living at 712 Tucker. Location is great, I love my apartment, the amenities are really nice and the leasing staff is very friendly and responsive.
The professionals seem friendly. The property is nice and in a great location. The application process seems to be a huge run around making you fell you dont fit their demographic. Response time is horrible on average 2 to 4 hours to get a response and absolutely no effort to fix the mistake resulting in loss of apartment.
This place sucks. It has sucked since before even moving in. The management staff is the worst I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The hidden charges. The obscene charges for trash removal every month. The filthy, unkempt grounds. The total lack of communication. Trash all over the parking deck from lazy tenants. The smell of garbage slapping you in your face just walking through the halls. Ongoing construction with zero or
The location is about the only positive about this place. Ive lived here for about 3 years and ever since the new management took over this place has gone downhill. They are incompetent and unhelpful with any issue you may have. The hot tub hasnt worked since they bought the building, the gym and lobby have been under construction with zero work done for months. The noise on week nights is as bad as on weekends. Contractors in and out of your apartment with little to no notice during the day. Etc etcDo yourself a favor and pay the additional 50$ for a nicer apartment (several in a few block radius).
Rude. Unorganized. Zero communication. No regard for their tenants. Since Nordblom Management Company took over, everything went downhill. At the same time that the new management was taking over, my lease was expiring and I decided to move out. And it wasnt until almost 60 days, 4 unanswered voicemails, and three trips to the leasing office later that I received my security deposit. Their first attempt, more than 30 days after I moved out, was to only return half of the deposit. If I hadnt been persistent, I am sure I never would have seen that money again.Throughout the process, Sandra (the leasing office manager) and her front desk employee were extremely disrespectful and unwilling to openly communicate any issues. With all of the beautiful apartment complexes in downtown Raleigh, I would steer clear of 712 Tucker. Not only is the management horrible, but the apartments themselves are pushing 8 years old and it is beginning to show.
New management refuses to notify anyone of packages - had them sit on a package for a month, refuse to look for it, then miraculously find it, once Id already bought a new one.New lease terms are changed to specify that they wont contact you about packages and will THROW THEM AWAY after two weeks without ever notifying you. They also claim the USPS only comes in once a week.I cant imagine why the women in the front office still work here. They must hate their jobs - everyone in the building hates them for their incompetence.
I truly cant imagine anyone who rents at this community renews their lease for a second term. I choose this apartment because I loved the look and location and didnt want to have to move after my lease ran out. Unfortunately, as you can see from all the other terrible reviews, 712 Tucker has some incredibly serious health, safety and communications concerns.1) The fire alarms go off monthly, if not more frequently (conveniently happens in the middle of the night and go on for about an hours before someone turns them off). This is obviously a huge concern to the safety of all residents. When I brought this concern to the management they said it was something we just had to deal with. The management then sent out extremely rude emails to residents asking us not to contact them when the alarms go off.2) It takes months for the management at 712 Tucker to fix serious safety concerns. The garage doors were stuck in an open position, allowing anyone to enter the property. This resulted in a few people having their cars broken into. The issue continued for at least 2-3 weeks before they had anyone out to fix it. Additionally, there was a hole in the ceiling dripping musty water for over a month. We had to walk past this multiple times a day to walk our dog and we were concerned about why nobody was trying to fix it.3) They are obsessive about the valet trash. The trash company sometimes forgets to pick up your trash and if you leave it out past 9AM 712 Tucker management will fine you a $25 fee. So, if you ever take a sick day or want to sleep in, be sure to set your alarm for 8:50AM to pick up your trash can so you dont get fined.4) The property itself has some issues: The hot water in the apartments runs out in about 10 minutes, so be prepared to take quick showers and dont even think about taking a hot bath. The fire pit they show you when you tour the property has not worked in the 10 months Ive been here. The TV outside does not work. The hot tub chemicals are more often than not way out of normal proportions causing the eyes and nose to burn. The coffee machine works 50/50.5) While the location is amazing and the apartments are beautiful the noise is intense. Lots of partying groups, drunk people and yelling late at night. Most of these issues could be fixed with management and leasing professionals who care about their residents. I hope that management takes notice and tries to mitigate these serious concerns for their remaining residents. If you are considering renting, please take these concerns to heart and decide whether the price is worth it.
Pretty cool condos to live in if your looking to live in the Glenwood South area... you can walk to lots of great bars and just hop on the R-Line if your venturing out a lil bit further!
I’ll extend the streak of one star reviews because it’s definitely deserved. Management company is horrendous. They’re rude and incompetent. I’m guessing that’s because they’re as frustrated with the place as the tenants. The place demos well on walk through a, but it’s a mess. For example, none of the 4 cardio machines has a working TV.
Never live here!! Absolutely disaster since new management came in. Inconsistent communication, roaches in our apartment, parking garage doors that dont alway work, one of my petsitters refused to come back after she was treated rudely by office staff, and a pool that was a disgusting green during one of the nicest weeks of the summer. Ive lived in apartments for years and have never seen anything like this. Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else downtown.
Great location & price. Aside from ~4 months of construction when I first moved in, it is relatively quiet.
I wish I could rate 0 stars. The overall upkeep of the property has deteriorated. Maintenance is so slow to get to requests. All the reviews on here are terrible since Nordblom took over and Nordblom trying to apologize. The grace period is over. Nordblom clearly does not know what they are doing.
I love living here! Great location, walking distance to alot of restaurants and bar but it can still be pretty quiet as well. It is on the expensive side but you really get alot with your rent. No need for a gym membership or taking a trip to Starbucks in the morning (various teas, lattes, hot chocolate, coffee, and more!) The building is pretty well insulated as well, I didnt turn the heat on at all this winter so utilities were very low.I do wish the valet trash was optional, I am willing and able to walk 100 feet to the trash chute. Also, if your building faces the courtyard it can get a little loud sometimes. The staff is super friendly and they throw events multiple times a month with food and cocktails, awesome!
Ive lived here for a few years now and have to say I love the hardwood floors, 2 story ceilings, high build quality, and overall value feeling for the rate. Things all changed with the new management: They are out of touch with our needs, one lady barely speaks english and didnt understand what I was trying to tell her. The maint. staff is extremely rude, they take extended time to make repairs when previously greystar fixed all problems that day or the next. They are very loud in the hallways, Ive overheard conversations where the middle aged bald maint. man was saying vile things about the leasing ladys- in front of me- in the elevator. There is no regard for the fact that, while no one likes to admit, we live in probably the most expensive rental building in Raleigh. Part of that price is hoping that all things will be taken care of immediately- not, as the other responses to reviews have said, as quickly as they can. No. Now. Greystar could do it- why cant you? I never even had to ask greystar- they were just extremely professional and took care of things before they became a problem. Everyone in the building is used to a very high level of professionalism and respect from the staff that is now lacking. There are also talks of ruining our formal foyer with a new leasing office- tenants want privacy when talking with leasing professionals and NO ONE wants the leasing office in the foyer.
New management, Nordblom Management Company, is terrible. We just received our deposit we moved out 57 days ago. When I called to inquiry about the despot it took them days to get back and were extremely unfriendly. They had the wrong information and threaten to withhold most of our deposit because of incorrect information. Their communication about this issue was nonexistent until we reached out them. Additionally, when they finally called us back, the property manager, Sandra was extremely unpleasant and rude when I expressed my dissatisfaction with their communication.Overall, they are disorganized and unthoughtful. Live in the Devon across the street or in one of the many other apartment options downtown.
Weve been here since December and I have nothing too overly negative to say.The good: The office staff has always been great to me and very communicative. The maintenance staff has been prompt and helpful when we had a couple of separate issues. The gym is nice (I use it almost every day) and the community spaces always seem tidy. Our apartment is the biggest and best laid out of any places Ive seen in Raleigh for the price. I never hear my neighbors or the party people outside unless my windows are open which will almost always be the case in a big city. Maybe Im less high maintenance than most people after 4 years of apartment life in NYC but any time Ive called, emailed, or gone to the office with an issue, I have always been respectfully addressed and the issue has been dealt with. Our lease situation was a little unorthodox but they worked closely with us to help us get everything done in a timely manner. The parking garage is actually such a nice amenity. My complaints are small, really. I am pretty sick of the beeping cherry picker machines all day every day (although Im not home during the weekdays, I dont love it on Saturday when Im trying to relax). My biggest complaint is the other residents who leave beer cans in the stairwell, dont clean up after their pets (I have two dogs, yall, it is not that hard to be a decent pet parent), leave the common areas a mess, smoke in the parking garage, take up two spaces in the garage, door ding (I have five separate and obvious dings on my car door), and other just inconsiderate issues of living in an apartment. A lot of complaints are thrown at the maintenance and office staff but the fact of the matter is people dont clean up after themselves either. I do think the maintenance staff could stand to pick up trash tenants leave behind after some time (aforementioned beer can has been in the stair well for three days now and we do pay for maintenance) but its an apartment building, not a college dorm. Stuff only stays nice if everyone involved tries to take care of it. Someone did mention the trash smell and the only time Ive experienced that is when people leave their garbage out on the days that the valet service doesnt come - which is Friday and Saturday nights - or if its out early. The office was very clear and upfront with us about the timing of the trash valet service because I asked about a billion questions before moving in so maybe others dont know.Maybe Im easily pleased after paying more money and receiving less service for years prior to living in 712 and maybe I think that when you pay for something you should put in effort to take care of it too but I like the women in the management office, I like my apartment, my immediate neighbors on the floor seem like cool folks, everyone is pretty low-key and courteous in passing, the amenities are pretty nice, its quiet, the location is awesome, all of the dogs in the building are pretty great, and Im pretty content with it.Tl;Dr - Im ready for construction to stop and for people to *try* to be respectful of the property but the apartments are great, building is nice, and the staff is helpful. Id recommend 712 Tucker for sure.
I have lived in the apartments a couple of months now. Love the area. Definitely cant beat being with in walking distance of so many restaurants and events going on downtown. The staff are easy to deal with and I like the social events they arrange with catered in food and drinks. Very nice day room and entry ways to hang out in.Things I do not like.1.) Cheap windows used by the builder. You hear every car and people talking on the sidewalk.2.) There seems to be a bug problem. As part of my rent there is a exterminator fee. I have called a couple times about the bugs and while Im assuming they come and spray the roaches and millipedes never seem to go away.3.) The hallways in some areas of the building smell so bad you almost do not want to walk through them.4.) I called once about a maintenance issue. It was fixed but not properly. I would expect if I am paying $2000 a month for rent they could splurge on a $2 spring and not use a hammer to put a new divot in a door plate. After I complained it was repaired correctly.5.) There is also a mandatory charge for valet trash and recycling. I love the valet trash service but I do not recycle. Would like to see these charges optional. And recently the cleaning crew at night have not been picking up the trash...Over all a great area to live in. The apartment while nice needs to have the cleaning crew do a better job in the hallways. They also need to do a better job of getting rid of the bugs permanently.
Lived there for 2 years. I suggest people get an apartment at The Devon across the street.
Its a wonderful place to live within walking distance to almost everything!
