I have taken my cars to Ewing’s for years. These guys are great! Recently, I had to fix lights on my car for inspection quickly . When I took it to them, they did it right away and I passed inspection . They have always helped me and it is gratifying as a single woman to take your car to trustworthy mechanics. You all Rock!
Worst service ever! I need to tow someone car in front of my store they put my call on hold for 25 minutes and the old lady she is not able to understand what i said!!
Responded quickly and driver very polite and friendly!
The driver was great to great care of my girlfriend very thankful
Ewing towing company is the worst place ever to go. I was towed from parking in my own apartment lot, and the service was extremely unpleasant and rude upon my arrival. I was unable to make it before 5 pm as I had class and could not get a ride, so I had to wait until later when they were closed and came the next day, only to be greeted with a nasty, dirty man who was overly rude and not understanding. I will never recommend this place to anyone for any of their services, and I hope they are out of business sooner than later for the sake of the city of Newark and its residents.
Very unprofessional and disrespectful . Basically said that they cant give you the courtesy of waiting for your payment cause you can Jump them. Seriously worse customer service ever...
Do not recommend any of their auto repair work. Worst in newark. Customer service was dogsht.
The dispatcher and driver were very friendly. He showed up in like 10 mins
Great people you can trust. Dont find/make-up things that are wrong/broken with your vehicle. Honest workmen.
Best tow service hands down!
Coming here and seeing the other poor reviews about Ewing Towing & Auto Repair is not surprising in the least. Both times I have had the misfortune to interact with this company, Ewing Towing & Auto Repair, I was met with deceit.Over the phone, I asked them the price to release my vehicle to me the following day. I was given that price. I made a point, immediately, to ask directly, . . and to be sure, thatll be the price to pick it up tomorrow, yeah? Because I wont be picking it up until then. I was told Yep, thats the price factored in for picking up tomorrow. (I had a similar encounter two years prior with the same issue of price swapping. That time it worked because I wasnt sure if I had misheard their pricing or some other fault of my own. But this latest time, with the previous in mind, I was ready and alert for it.)I arrive the following day as discussed with the amount I was told I would need to release my vehicle. When I entered their office to begin the transaction, the corpulent gentleman behind the counter took the description of my vehicle from me to which he replied, . . That doesnt sound familiar. Im not sure. . . if we have that. . lemme see. To his credit, he at least did begin to finger through the carbon-copy pad of paperwork. After a minute, he hadnt found it so I chimed in that the gentleman I spoke with on the phone had identified it himself from my description and found the paper work so maybe if he were around we could figure this out. This was ignored. He then asked where it was towed from and I gave the address and he told me he doesnt think they tow from there. I told him they do and I have an email from my complexs manager telling me Ewing Towing & Auto Repair is the service they use. Then my paperwork was found. He tells me the total is $50 dollars more than I was told it would be. I brought this up, that the gentleman I spoke with yesterday on the phone told me the price of releasing my vehicle specifically today, the day after the phone call. The zaftig man behind the counter I have been dealing with at this point adopts a tone of annoyance and defense, telling me the days of the week and how he figured the price based off what today is and when it was towed. Through some speaking over each other from both our ends, I tell him, I do not doubt he came to his pricing in a specific way, but since the gentleman I spoke with the previous day did the same thing and came to a much different price, I would be interested in hearing from him at the same time to see who did the pricing correctly and who was incorrect. The rotund man stops, looks behind me and to the side to a man I presume also works there, and suddenly, he crosses off his price and writes down the price I was told. Well, I guess we can let it go for [price I was told].So as to what occurred here? I believe Ewing Towing & Auto Repair knowingly and willingly engaged/engages in Bait and Switch tactics. I believe this to be true. It was not the first time its been done to me and I doubt Im the only one it has been done to. Why did his story change when he glanced at the other guy? Was he higher up and gave him the ok to agree to my number? Is he the gentleman I spoke with the day prior? Who was actually correct in their pricing? Who was wrong? At the end of the day it comes down to professionalism, and this is something Ive received neither of the times Ive been to Ewing Towing & Auto Repair. They are inconsistent with pricing and thats the biggest strike I can think of. Ewing Towing & Auto Repair is rude and dishonest. The moment you step out of the cookie-cutter set of responses of a standard transaction, the global man behind the counter becomes very irate and disrespectful. This Ive experienced both times Ive interacted with Ewing Towing & Auto Repair. If you can help it, I advise against doing business with Ewing Towing & Auto Repair.Edit: The gentleman I dealt with in person at the office wore a shirt bearing the name Rock. I doubt thats his real name.
This is under the legal name of Cox Reilly Inc. a Delaware Corporation, file number 2446659. The guy who goes by the fake name Rock in the office is really Kevin J. Cox the principal. They charge different rates for towing and storage verify before ordering a tow. Dont waste your time in JP court go higher. Cox is the form 50 rep in JP it wont cost him a dime to fight you in JP.
Nice folks here.
Friendly people great prices
Good service and prices. And fast.
Great place
Every time I have an issue with my car (which is more often than Id like seeing as shes 12 years old) Rock is extremely accommodating and the service is always timely! The guys here can literally do anything, from oil changes to electrical issues to replacing parts on the interior, a fantastic full service team!
Very friendly and fast
Fast service
If I could give less than one star I would. Like most people who gave one star reviews, my car was towed from the Burger King lot on Main Street. You know as much as that irritates me I understand, you need a permit or whatever, I should’ve read the signs, all that. This should be a review for Burger King too, honestly, because the way they treated was no where near acceptable. I walked in there very angry, like anyone who doesn’t know where their car is would be. NOBODY would even tell me who the hell took my car. Where my property was at remained a complete mystery. After 30 MINUTES of poking around trying to ask the right people who the hell took my car I finally got a name. So I called Ewing towing, and talked to the most unsocial and rude man I have ever talked to. A gas station bathroom has more hospitality then this man. I had to wait 2 and a half hours for him to come back so I could pay 103 dollars just to get my care. Yeah, 103 dollars for parking in a Burger King parking lot. It much more I can say besides, if you ever get in the situation I did, I pray you’re able to keep your patience because that day really did test me.
Glorified car thieves. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I first went to Ewing when my mechanic of 12 years couldnt find the problem with my car. Honestly, I chose Ewing because of their location. I am so glad I did! They were quickly able to diagnose and fix a leak in my transmission. This past weekend, while putting air in my tires, I noticed a crack in the valve. I had recently had two valve and tire sensors replaced at a nationally recognized tire shop. I decided to give Ewing a try for the tires as well. Again, I am so glad I did. The work was done within hours of contact (yes, the same day), and at a fraction of what the tire shop charged. I dont get a new car every 5 years. I need to take good care of the one I have. Im entrusting Ewing with all of my car care! Excellent customer service and unbeatable prices!
Great service and prices!
They basically stole my car from a legal parking spot and charged me almost $500 to get it back.
They towed my car but the guy was nice
This is a great outfit. I have been taking my vehicles to them for over 15 years. They are good with routine maintenance and major repairs. Fair prices. Several times these guys have done a repair and reminded me that it was covered under warranty.
WORST of the WORSE thats what this company is. Theyre thieves plan and simple. My brand new vehicle was parked in my mothers driveway and after visiting with her I went outside and it was gone. I called the New Castle County police to report it stolen!!! Thats how I found out it was towed - when I went to pick it up they were beyond rude and when I asked why it was towed they stated because the back of the vehicle was hanging in the street. Thats ridiculous - but I paid on my credit card to get my new car back. Then I reported the issue to the credit card company to dispute the charges. Ewing wrote and stated the reason was it was parked in the street. Such liars Ewing Towing is. Ill be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and my CC company. They need to be shut down for such horrible and illegal business practices. Unreal!
Been taking my vehicles there for years. Great service and timely repairs. Quick response on towing.
As far as auto service goes, this shop is dependable and friendly. They always answer my questions, give me a fair price (15% discount for UD students really makes a difference) and have even given me rides home when I drop my car off. Go above and beyond, which is really nice.
Great service. Ive had multiple cars repaired there and wouldnt hesitate to go back. Theyve also towed several of my cars for various reasons and are always prompt and professional, especially when pulling my daughters car out of a ditch. Great place to get service.
My mom has been using them for years and they take great care of her. I recently used them a car I bought, the dealer did not put on the tag plate on the front of my car. I needed an oil change and they also put my tag plate on as well. Great service and they are very friendly!!!!
Our car broke down on our way to New Jersey. The guys at Ewing Towing took care of us from when the tow truck came til our car was fixed. We had our 2 kids with us Rock let them play with some toys and let them watch TV in the office. Everyone there is very nice !
I was gonna gift them a 1 because they steal peoples cars, but I upgraded them to 2 because the business photo is them towing a limo. And thats pretty dope.
I have now had three experiences with Ewing Towing, and all three were pretty horrible. The first involved my car being illegally towed from my own parking lot WITH a valid lot sticker on it, a lot I had been parking in for over 4 years. Some of the other cars had the newer stickers as they had just moved into the neighborhood and Ewing towed my car simply because it didnt have the new sticker - even though the old one was still valid. We had to scramble to come up with the $80 to get it back and did get reimbursed since it was not a valid tow. The second issue came about when our lot switched to assigned parking spaces and a random vehicle parked in my assigned space. We were told by our office manager to call Ewing and they would come right out and remove the car from our space. We waited over 2 hours for them to show up - having to sit with our car the whole time as to not have it towed for not being in a valid spot, during which time the owner of the vehicle returned and removed the car. We called Ewing to tell them the tow was no longer necessary and they hung up on us. The third - My vehicle broke down and was removed from our lot by another company through my insurance (D&H and they were awesome). We purchased a new car on a Saturday, when the DMV is not open and our office manager happened to be out of the office in another state for a week. We had already received a temporary parking pass from our office manager to place on the new car and she said it might be a good idea to let Ewing know so they dont tow it - so they look for the temporary pass. Well, I called and they said they didnt care if we had a temporary pass or not, they would tow it. Even with the pass and the vehicle being parked in our assigned space, we were told it would still be towed. This company is just a pain and I would not recommend them to anyone.
Went and got Burger King with some friends and then went across the street to get my other friends some food. Not even 20 minutes pass before I see that they had towed my car arguing that I was no longer a customer of Burger King before they drove off with my car. (I had my Burger King visible in my passenger seat to show that I had eaten there, and that I would be back to eat my food) Meanwhile, my friends food hadn’t even been made yet. Had to have my other friend drive me back to their lot exceptionally fast because the tow driver said if I wasn’t quick he would charge me extra. From what I can tell, Ewing towing is a predatory towing company acting like scum, prowling certain lots to gain a few extra bucks. If this is how they conduct business, I don’t think anyone should be coming to Ewing Towing for their needs.
Very polite and easy to work with. We werent very happy that our car was towed, but they were as nice as you can be with grumpy customers. Super easy to get our car back (in our case) and easy to locate.
Worst place ever!!! Charged me$369.00 for a power steering job that was not complete. My vehicle still has the same problem it had when I sent it to them. They are very rude, huge liars and they DEFINITELY try to get over on people. Truly snakes in a pit! If I could take this one star back I would. Don’t waste your time or money on this company unless you have money set a side to be robbed by them or you wanna be highly disappointed. Their card says “ We meet by accident “... Me going to them and giving them my hard earned cash was definitely one.
Made a poor mistake and parked my car where it wasn’t supposed to be. They were really nice guys, didn’t charge me extra even though I picked it up halfway through another day. Got my car back easy, no damage whatsoever. Cost me a few, but definitely deserved it. My advice: don’t park your car where it doesn’t belong and try and use other people’s property as your personal parking lot. And if you do, these guys won’t abuse you for it.10/10 would get towed by these guys again
I left my car in a parking lot for less than five minutes to make sure my brother got dropped off where he needed to be (at his friend’s new apartment). I’m literally running back to my car because I desire to return to the comforts of my home (again less than five minutes) and then I hear I car alarm off in the distance. I figured “this couldn’t possibly be my car I just parked there a few minutes ago”. Next thing I know my run turned into a sprint as I chased the man who had put my car onto a flatbed. I tell the man my story but he doesn’t care (which I understand to some degree like you gotta keep people’s mouthes fed but still). The man goes “$100”. I don’t know about you, but imagine paying $100 for parking your car for five minutes because you want to make sure your brother is safe, let alone the fact that that price is equivalent to a couple days’ of labor at my job. Now, I don’t carry around $100 cash in my pocket because that’s just stupid for a person my age, so I ask to use my debit card. Of course, the man has forgotten his card reader at the shop (thankfully only around 2 miles down the street). So now I’m sitting in the tow truck with the man who has just charged me $100 dollars for leaving my car in an empty store parking lot for five minutes. Of course I’m upset, but I try to keep my cool and prevent myself from exploding in anger. I don’t remember the exact words he said at this point, but he mentioned that he saw my car in the parking lot and it was not a busy night so he was scouring Newark to find cars to tow. Ok, I understand, it’s Thanksgiving weekend and most kids are with their families and hence there are not that many cars from him to tow in the first place. I arrive at the shop, and two other gentlemen walk into the shop to retrieve their car. They seemed like perfectly fine individuals, however it’s the man who towed my car’s conversation with them that makes me even more upset. He says “Because I towed this gentleman’s car right here (implying me) I’m gonna be out here for another two hours” (I really don’t know why he said that I guess there is paperwork involved after retrieving my car but I don’t know as I do not work at a towing company). The time was approximately 11:30 at night. Listen, I understand that it is 11:30 at night and you want to go home, but you have to keep in mind that it is also 11:30 at night for me as well who is trying to return to his family, paying $100, sitting in a tow truck with a complete stranger, and on top of that now has to deal with the constant apologies and the “I heard your car got towed. That was stupid.” comments from literally everybody I know. I return to the apartment to my brother (who is hysterical because he is upset my car got towed for trying to be a good brother). My brother and his friends at the college claim that the usual fee for towing is only $40, which means that if he is correct I payed for my car to be towed 2.5 times over. I don’t know if they’re correct (in fact I doubt it) but if for some reason I find that to be true I will be furious. Moral of the story: I am never parking my car in Newark ever again as I do not want to give another cent to any tow company so long as I live (which I hope is the case for most individuals unless their car is incapable of moving). I understand it’s a tow company, not a charity, it would be unfair of me to ever be angry at someone who is just trying to do their job. I also understand that a company that specializes in ruining people’s days by taking their mode of transportation is also going to get bad reviews. However, I believe that the situation handled by the man operating the tow truck was wrong and that is not how business should be handled. The reason I am writing this is not to let their average star rating go down, as that’s not the reason these were invented. I am writing this review as a wake up call to the company to improve for unfortunate customers in the future. It’s a hard business, but a business nonetheless.
I have been taking my cars there for years... Always have guaranteed... And good work... Im a fan
Received the absolute worst customer service today at Ewing towing while picking up my towed vehicle. To be fair, I dont even know if you can call the lack of respect that I received from the desk manager customer service.*The tow was reasonable, as I was parked inappropriately, and I completely accept that. *Everything went downhill when I had to interact with Rock at the front desk. He treated me like trash, called me petty names (told me my face was stupid 😂), and tried to make me retrieve my own receipt out of the garage! The facilities were dirty, employees clearly disgruntled, and from their 1/5 star review on yelp, its clear they treat all their customers in the same manner. I would never take my car here for real service, not even to change my windshield wiper fluid!
Id give them 5stars! Great service! Friendly Staff! Very affordable prices!
Car broke down on Hopkins Rd. 5 minutes before they closed, they sent a tow within 15 minutes they came and towed my car. I had a rusted caliper, which was sticking to my rotor causing intense shaking. Fixed perfectly, quick, good work, no complaints. Thanks guys!
I have been using Ewings for a few years now for all my auto repairs. They do great work at a fair price and are very friendly people. Ewings is quick and efficient i would recommend them for auto repairs and towing.
I drove someone to pick their car up after being towed. Being towed was not the issue. She went into the tow company to pay with a nice demeanor and ready to get her car, when the man at the counter treated her with great disrespect. I truly thought I was back in the 50s. He was rude and highly disrespectful to this young lady. I asked him why he was so rude and talking to her in that manner, and he said, he will talk to her any way he likes. I was waiting outside for her to get her car, and another man came outside and was rude to me. I have spoken to others who have been treated in this manner, and I encourage you to avoid this place and their services!
This place is the epitome of gouging. Three times expensive as anyone else, and they dont work with you. Definitely wont go back
The guys at Ewing have been servicing my families cars for many years. The mechanics are great and prompt. Good prices A+++.
So went through burger King drive through parked my car my wife ate her sandwich. We then went to the pharmacy on main Street. Apparently 5 or 10 minutes after we left the parking lot this company swooped in and stole my vehicle and damaged my vehicle in the process. When I finally saw the tow sign and called the company they were extremely rude and I have been screamed at and cussed by employee and owner alike. And as for the damage they claimed it was like that before they touched it and have pictures but refuse to show or send me the pictures the next day. I guess theyre banking i wont make the 65mile drive back to Newark they are wrong.
Towed my daughters car 12 midnight; proffesial driver.
I happened to run over a screw about 2 inches long and my tire was losing air quickly. I pulled into Ewings and asked for him to plug it. Without hesitation he pulled out his supplies and plugged my tire on the spot! Took about 5 mins! I will definitely go back for service again.
Tag from Review mirror. Charged me nearly $100 despite seeing the mistake. Highway Robbery at its finest
Ewings has worked on several vehicles for our family for the last 5 years. Work always gets done right the first time and on time. Great advice and recommendations from Rock and great work from the mechanics.
Shm... plentiful business
Dont call these people unless you like being threatened and yelled at! We needed a forklift moved because of an accident that happened where I work so we called them to assist. After he did the job and it came time for payment, we tried to pay with Amex (which is the company card) but he informed us that they dont accept it. Instead of being professional and trying to help solve the problem, they threatened to drag the forklift back off the dock! The driver got very threatening with the employees and refused to leave. I would suggest that when they are called by a business, they make sure payment arrangements are made because a lot of businesses use Amex as their company card. I guess they are too cheap to set up Amex for their own business! After payment was made to a different card that belonged to an employee, we still had to verbally tell him to leave the property because he wanted to stand there and keep arguing about it! Never dealt with this kind of behavior before from any company! DONT CALL THEM!
Fair price and quick service.
I found myself in a very difficult situation on a cold day. Their response time was swift. The driver was very empathetic. He handled my vehicle with extreme care. It became necessary to speak with the office on multiple occasions. Every occasion, I found the experience to be pleasant and reassuring. What started as a frustrating and agonizing experience, turned out fulfilling..... Thanks to every member of the staff whom I was privileged enough to come into contact with.
Was broke down on I95 they immediately came to pick me up took very good care of my vehicle was speedy and well done highly recommended
Great guys great service. took care of me start to finish!! will tell everyone about them!!
Honest and friendly never let me down
I had a wonderful experience with Ewing Towing I wouldnt take my car any place else they have fair prices and I always get my car back quickly and its fixed right the first time
Moving out and car parked outside in front of the house because the truck is in the driveway. We come out with boxes and guess what no car. Less than 15 minutes in the house and car was loaded on the flatbed. No recourse at all. Absolutely ridiculous practices.
Great service and always happy to use there services
They are honest about what my car needs they dont sell me something I dont need. If its something that can wait they will tell me so
Nice people. Kind of expensive.
My car was flooded out and water was pouring in, and when I called Ewing to ask for someone to help tow me out they told me it would take hours. I asked for the number for another service that might help me, because I was afraid Id drown before they got there, and the woman said, Im not running a car answering service and hung up on me. If you ever need to speak to heartless sociopaths in your hour of need, call Ewing Towing.
Came off the highway as a stranger with a car problem. They were fast, professional, very fair in the way they dealt with me. If they were in business in my town, Id never take my car anywhere else.
Worst service I have ever encountered. The man at the desk cursed and was nothing but disrespectful. Trust me do not go here!
Horrible service. very rude, towed car from place of work..... not sure how you can get towed for WORKING, then once i called he was very nasty to me & took forever to get there while i stood outside freezing. never ever going back.
Excellent service. Dropped my car off in the am and was completed by the afternoon.
Rude attitude and extremely high service.
Extremely rude
I have been doing business with them for years and I wouldnt take my car to anyone else
My dad works here and most of his customers are happy when they walked out for the most part
Towed as a paying customer from Newark shopping center. Wife and I went to see a movie come out and vehicle is gone. Owner operator refused to talk to me over the phone and instead hung up on me. Complete shame operation with shopping center, security service working the shopping center and its businesses.
Hate this place.
The person in charge last night was too rude and I had to wait outside the tow office with my friends and family for almost an hour in the cold weather to get back my car.
Shady company, wouldnt recommend.
