We took our car here for an inspection of the water pump. The inspection price was never communicated to us.We received a quote to replace the water pump at ~$800, even though average replacement cost in labor should be around ~$500.Prior, we had received a quote from Famous Automotive at $270. We notified them of this to negotiate to a fair price, however, the response was swiftly, “go see them then.”Upon arriving to pick up the car, they charged a $75 inspection fee that we never agreed to, and the front desk said, “They don’t work for free”1. The shop doesn’t know how to handle negotiation without being rude. It’s almost like they’ve forgotten that they have competition, and that kindness goes a long way.2. If we knew they were going to charge $75 for the inspection, we wouldn’t have shown up. Expectations could be set better.

They are a family owned place and they really stand behind the work. I was going to Pep Boys on Lane Ave but they had gone downhill in my opinion so I was looking for somewhere new. I remembered I had gone to Hughs when the father was still the owner. Now I think it is the son and his wife that run the business. They are awesome and highly recommended.

I needed an estimate for my dodge ram and a diagnoses for the noise. The staff was very freindly, they picked up the phone right away, they offered to drive me home when my truck was in the shop, and offer some beverages. Very nice locals and I will be back!

These people do excellent work. They’re honest and upfront about everything, taking the time to make sure you understand, providing clear and helpful estimates before the work. I’ve brought three different vehicles to them and each time they’ve charged less than what was estimated by other shops. They’ve even come to my workplace to pick up a set of keys from me, saving me a trip. Eric is a great guy maintaining a high standard of integrity; I don’t think I’ll be going to any other shop anytime soon.Keep up the great work!

Fair honest and reliable... small town feel in the middle of Riverside. You definitely can not go wrong at this place I have been in to this shop 3 times in the past 1.5 years and each and everytime it is a score of 12 out of 10. Knowledgeable, fair, honest couldnt ask for anything else.Again this is like a small town corner shop in small town USA where I have been many times in my life. It just feels right, and it is always a great feeling to have trust in and be treated fairly from you repair shop.10000% reccomend.

I have been using these guys for years now to do work and maintenance on all my vehicles. It’s run by a very professional and friendly man and his wife, they make a great team. They have a lot of bay doors in the building with certified mechanics that do a great job. I have never had a problem with anything they’ve done, and if I would have had a problem, they stand behind their work (very honest). If you need a ride when dropping off your car they have a driver with a nice clean company vehicle that will take you where you need to go, and they’ll pick you up when your vehicle is finished if needed. They are very punctual and get it done faster then any place I’ve been. I honestly wouldn’t take any of my vehicles anywhere else.

I normally do majority of work on my vehicles. Especially my 02 Ranger (my baby) Lately Ive had to rely on some of the local shops to help me with the work. Hughs came highly recommended from the engine builder I used. They definitely didnt disappoint. Eric (owner) was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was straight with me and knew exactly how to fix the problem with the transmission lines that I was having issue with. Great job. If Im ever in a bind or just want proffessional help, Ill be back here.

I took an 07 Volvo in for a terrible exhaust leak one morning and by the afternoon Eric called to tell me what they had found to be the problem and what it would cost/time it would take to fix. The repair got held up by some gaskets needing to be shipped in, but once they arrived it was fixed in no time. The ol car is quiet once again thanks to Eric and the people at Hughs. Ill definitely be taking my car back when it needs to be worked on next.

I have to give the people at Hughs Riverside five stars, two thumbs up. On a busy day when I called to see if they could fit me into their busy schedule they realized I had a serious problem and I was able to bring my car in car service. I dropped my car off their driver brought me home they took care of my issues the driver picks me up. They took care of everything that I needed done to my car they were courteous and pleasant and if youd like dogs theyve got some sweeties in the office. Thanks so much guys to really saved my day

We have been customers@ Hughs Riverside Auto for over 30 yrs, we can honestly say they are honest, helpful, providing transport to work or beauty salon (etc)& back...go beyond fixing your car, give honest assessment of the issues. They sent someone to come get me on the side of 1-10 when it was summer, towing car later. We do not go anywhere else! SJ

I am so happy with this service oriented business! They fixed the AC in my Mustang several weeks ago and did an oil change. Recently my Low Tire Pressure light has been lighting up, so I called today to see if I could bring the car back for tire service. Eric invited me to pop in any time, which I did right away. I had no wait- just pulled right up front like I owned the place and had the air pressure adjusted in all four tires (they were low) and my sensors reset inside of about 8 minutes. All it cost me was a smile, but of course Hughs has earned my 100% loyalty and this glowing report. Ill be back and I will definitely spread the word!

After driving here from Virginia, I found Hughs on Google because I was a quart down in my car. I was greeted with, No I dont sell quarts of oil, but pull your car in right here. A mechanic at Hughs proceeded to add just the right amount of oil. How much do I owe you? ... Nothing. Please, ... ... nothing. Thank you publicly for your generosity!

Im already hating the fact that I’m wasting time to review this place. I asked em if they had a Bmw fan clutch removal tool. They straight up said no. While I was there, they get a e46 Bmw from a tow service. They have the same mechanical fan. If they don’t have the tool, I wonder how they’ll service that car. Bunch of liars. Just in there to rob people.
