Lived here for 2 years and renewing for a 3rd. As far as Ive seen it is one of the cheapest apartments in the area Depending on what room you rent and walking or bicycling to UNCG is possible. So long as you get your pet set as an emotional support animal you can stay with them too but small dogs are not recommended because of a previous set of incidents involving a medium-sized dog, without leash that lived in the area, attacking small dogs. Management changes almost yearly from what i can tell so the office has troubles keeping the paperwork straight, especially since after it goes to the office it gets sent off property. Bottom line with maintenance is understaffed and they work multiple sites but most major problems get fixed quickly unless it is something handled by a third party, like the windows, then even a broken window takes 3 months.
The school at Spring Garden apartments! I moved down here from upstate New York. I did tour several other apartment complexes before I settled on this one. For a 2BR, 2Bath apartment you do get a good deal, since no other complexes I found include basically all utilities in the rent. The allowance for electricity is reasonable. I love the fact that I have a washer/dryer in my unit, as well as central air which does work very well. Location is very convenient, but personally I will probably end up moving only because its not rural but urban (thats a personal preference). The neighborhood, Lindley Park, is among the more decent ones you can find in Greensboro. I never had any serious maintenance issues, nor bug issues. I saw others complain about thin walls- its possible this building is more insulated, as I havent been in any other apartments in the complex, but I havent heard much above running water or some doors slamming once in a while. Outside noise is my only other complaint, as there seems to be frequent sirens due to its location. However, I cannot fault the complex for that (just an observation). All, in all Id say The School ticks more boxes than not, so its a solid choice especially for its location (convenient to many places in Greensboro). Happy hunting!
I moved into my apartment in May and I am enjoying it so far.. The inside of the apartment is a little dated however maintenance is on top of their game. The staff are all friendly and the Portal app you can use to pay rent is awesome. My rent is affordable. Very happy to be living here.
I moved into the School at Spring Garden at the end of January. Love the area, many bars nearby. My apartment looked great. Only problem I wanted fixed was the carpet. Very friendly environment. The leasing staff has never disappointed me they are awesome! Already renewed my lease!
I am an out of state student who was looking for an affordable place to live and stumbled upon This place. It is a wonderful area to live in with amenities to satisfy the pickiest person. The pricing compared to most apartments in Greensboro are amazing. Not only are the leasing managers nice and amicable, but they really attend to any needs that need to be met. Most definitely recommend leasing.
Management is awesome. Any question asked has been answered immediately. Any problem I have had with the apartment has been solved faster than what I was quoted. One time I was just talking to the maintenance manager outside in the parking lot and he came and fixed our problem right then and there. The pricing is fair and parking is not stressful at all. Great place for an apartment for school.
The apartments are really cute - very high ceilings and HUGE windows. management is great - build a good relationship with them and theyll take care of you. Nylah is a godsend to this complex 100%. the rent is cheap and you pay for what you get, but for housing close to campus and everything in Greensboro, its totally worth it!
The management here is the best, helping with all your needs. The rent is very affordable and communication with the leasing office is always a positive experience. I personally have had to talk to the office more because of COVID-19. Will definitely be staying here much longer!!!
The staff here is amazing, they support the community with pop up shops, they also have really cool giveaways and contests for residents plus you cant beat the price at all! Im definitely gonna be here for a while. We have a game room and gym downstairs too!
I have lived at the school spring garden streets for almost 3 years now and I have renewed my lease for the third you’re coming. From the friendly staff members in the office to the friendly neighbors i’ve encountered The thought of moving saddens me.! Living in 2207 many of the residents have became like family to me! Maintenance orders are filled as quickly as possible even though we do have a shortage of workers! My favorite thing about my apartments is the gym which has many pieces of equipment that a typical gym would have!
Been here for almost a year and Ive enjoyed my time. The office does a great job at replying in person/email. Maintenance has a great response time. Cheapest apartments around Greensboro and down the street from UNCG and eateries. The WiFi is iffy when it decides to be. The office did a great job at picking roommates. Definitely recommend the apartments for students.
I have been at Spartan Place Apartments from about 6 years, I began renting during undergrad. I can say for sure maintenance quality has gotten worse here over time. Communication could be much better. Im not sure what happen to Spartan Place having their own management staff that has been talked about in the past. Most recently, I was told that maintenance completed a work order(I didnt place). Take a look at the air filter that is claimed to have been changed by the work order left by Jack. I placed the very air filter in there 3 months prior. Management claims that maintenance has been changing the air filters for us regularly. In a previous email in 2020, it was stated that maintenance would leave an air filter outside for you, but I never experienced this.I was told that maintenance would come to my apartment the day prior by lunchtime by the manager. I didnt receive any communication that they didnt. I asked about it the following day and was told that maintenance said they previously told me before that they didnt see any mold in the A/C unit or apartment(mold spores dont have to be seen to be present). Yet, my mold test kit I bought from the store says otherwise. I asked when the maintenance came to the apartment, maybe it was within the 3 hour period I was not there. They hadnt visited my apartment. Communication leaves you with more to be desired.Earlier this same day, the a member of the management gave 2 knocks on my front door. As I walked to answer it, the manager and staff entered the unit. They were there due to my follow-up email I sent inquiring as to wether my unit had been spayed for ants as was said to be done over a month prior. There wasnt any communication indicating that they come this day. Before leaving my unit the man spraying for ants sprays the ceiling above my head causing the pesticide to trip on me as he passes by me on his way out of the door. From mid-May to mid-June maintenance responded to a report I made about a sprinkler in the living room leaking. Maintenance staff cuts a hole in the ceiling without covering area of the rug, nor couch that is under this area. The area is covered in debris. Before the cut was made I was asked if I had a ladder and knife to use to cut the ceiling. The leak was repaired before the following week. But, the carpet wasnt cleared nor was the hole in the ceiling repaired until mid-June after several occasions of asking management the timeline. I was assured that the floor would be vacuumed as well, it wasnt. I feel like things would be much better if it didnt feel like staff was cutting corners. It seems like as the price for rent increases, less quality of service is provided. In prior years, I was approached by a TV news reporter who was making a store about the large amount of garbage that had collected in the parking lot on-site. The story didnt air. I was told that it would have aired on the evening news if the station wasnt able to contact management to clean the trash within a few hours. Ive had encounters where members of the corporate office would knock on the door and enter the apartment unannounced and I found this to be very rude. Also, contacting the corporate office on Tinsley Rd. isnt a pleasant experience. They will refuse to speak to you and refer you to the apartment office. The apartment complex was once a great place to be for students looking to live close to campus and focus on school. I would like it to go back to that way again with a focus on the customers.
Ive lived at this complex for about 5 years now, and Ive been very content in each unit Ive been in. Management has been getting better each year, and are friendly. I feel safe and comfortable, and everyone is friendly.
Nyla P. She is a wonderful person she answers my concerns and is just a upbeat woman. I have never been with an Apartment complex where my concerns weren’t met. She always has a smile on her face and is just a beautiful person overall.I recommend this place for anyone come on in and get greeted with a nice smile you wont regret it!!!!!!
If you’re a college student this is a great spot both between NCAT & UNCG. Nylah is really helpful even with the whole pandemic. She answers calls and does her best to accommodate your request. Partly the responsibility of the complex is the residents so property is clean most of the time unless people become careless. It’s what you make of it. 1 2 or 3 BD. Maintenance could be a little more staffed and on point but overall it’s cool. All on Personal preferences.
Great place to live in office always making sure they help out
I wanted to get a place but circumstances changed so I ended up looking elsewhere. This review is about how great their management was, Nylah to be precise. She was really nice and responsive and made the process really easy for me compared to all places I’ve been to. I was really sad I didn’t end up there, I was really looking forward to it.
Horrible! I stayed here last year and even the main office smelled like a blunt! Very rude management! Do not live here! Gross and unkept! Sickly and diseased!
Roach infested and management is terrible, rude service man just a terrible living experience also late fees and expensive because of the faulty way they make you make payments
Very cheap rent and large rooms which is great!!! You get what you pay for though, as there are multiple issues with on-site cleanliness, HORRIBLE wifi, lack of well working amenities, etc. There are tons of bugs inside the apartments, Big spiders and Huge Roaches mostly(even with constant visits from an exterminator). The maintenance guy is really cool and he does a pretty good job for someone working either by himself or with two or three guys.
Management is horrible. The apartments are lovely, I’ve lived there for 3 years, but in those 3 years management has changed 5 times, 3 times in the past 6 months, there’s a new person in the office every time I walk in because they keep quitting. I have not had my own WiFi this entire time, instead of fixing my own they gave me the passwords to my neighbors’ WiFi in their apartments (my neighbors don’t know). If you do have WiFi it’s slowwww, I missed assignments when I was in school because the internet wasn’t working or it was out. When I first moved in, they gave my lease to someone else (without me knowing) and tried to stuff me in another room the size of a closet and tried to say I signed for that one. When she moved me around, she took my rent, but wouldn’t give me my lease. Finally called corporate and they had no idea about me. That first months rent is not on the ledger, so they stole my money. Corporate and the office DO NOT COMMUNICATE! They don’t know what’s going on. I have been trying to get things in my apartment fixed for years and they ignore my requests. So they don’t care about you and just want your money, and living here for 3 years I thought I’d be treated better but everyone is new so they don’t know me. And I have woken up to gunshots outside multiple times. I’ve found bullets and shell casings near my place. The apartments are beautiful. The management is horrible. The area is sketchy.
I’ve lived here for a year and a half. Under the old company things weren’t great but they were acceptable for the rent. When they “fixed” the wifi, we went a month without wifi.As I write this from my phone, my power has been out for over 24 hours. The leasing office told me that Duke Power has been doing work and didn’t alert them. When we called Duke, they let us know that the power had been shut off because the bill never got payed. This company is so incompetent that they can’t even pass my electric bill on to Duke Power. I’ve lost all the food in the fridge and my room mate’s fish died because the filter was off for too long. I will not resign this lease.
Moved in without having seen the apartment at all and we were blown away by the amount of space we were getting for such a great price. High ceilings, historic building, exposed brick, always have hot water, and maintenance issues are always resolved fairly quickly. Great location, too.
WARNING: Dont live here!!! I feel so bad for the people i see now touring the building with management lying about things. For starters, all the walls and windows are paper thinYou hear everything that goes on around you inside and out, all the time. If you have neighbors that do incessant partying, dont expect the leasing people to care. They wont help you at all, theyll just offer to move you to a new room for a $500 fee. Also there are cockroaches like everybody says. The wifi was out for 2 full months which was also unacceptable due to it being included in rent. The applaiances are all pos and the people that live there are rude spoiled college kids with no human courtesy whatsoever. Seriously its a cheap place to live but so not worth how awful it is. Look elsewhere if youre smart.
First off, if you want a cheap place to stay this may be one of your best options decent sized room high ceilings. However, I could write a book about management there but if I had to give it a score out of 10 it surely would be a -6. The WiFi is seriously a joke might want to invest in your own hotspot, and the electricity overages are a joke as well - very inconsistent and do not provide information when asked. If you can afford it don’t stay here. The roaches will have you up at night and the WiFi will have you missing exam and quizzes for a place that advertises itself as “The School” this is surely not an environment for students. My honest perspective and experience living here.
Do Not Live Here. The property manager is literally one of the most rude, inconsiderate, and down right mean individual. Complaints are never taken seriously, she uses her position of power to lord over you and disrespect you. She is never wrong, and her property never has any problems.Since Ive lived here (resided for a full year) My AC unit has never properly functioned, which has resulted in high overages on our power bill. My dishwasher does not wash dishes. When I moved in the apartment was cleaned. The Drains were clogged with paint chips, hair, and debris. The AC didnt work from day one. The apartments have had nonstop renovations which can range from slightly inconveniencing banging, to wall shaking drilling which lasted up to 3 months. The maintenance people are completely incompetent. I hadont mold growing on all the way up ALL of the vaulted windows. The maintenence man David said that it was just dust. It was mold. Dust comes off when your rub your finger across it.The Clothes Dryer ventilation was backed up which prevent it from drying my clothes. Their solution was to reroute the tubing to a bucket next to the dryer which also created a huge fire hazard as the lent was building up around the outlet where it plugs into. Luckily I found it before it found its way in the outlet itself. The entire management is inconsiderate and would enter the property regardless of notice. Granted North Carolina has no statue on this topic, but that doesnt make it rude, and it certainly violates your right to covenant of quiet enjoyment. Like how would you like it if random people were always walking in uninvited while you werent fully clothed or getting ready? As a student this place is not a conducive environment for studying or relaxing. Parties happen every day, music is always loud, the entire complex reeks of marijuana. When you visit this place you will more than likely visit during the summer. Keep in mind it is very relaxed during the summer as there are no residents residing in the apartment with the exception of a few individuals.
If I could give this place a 0 star I would. The apartments are aesthetically very pleasing, but the management and the maintenance are beyond subpar. The wi-fi is inconsistent and there have been several instances of power outages. For these things to be included in the rent youd expect them to work effeincently.....but nope. Theres constantly loud parties and the constant smell of weed seeping into the apartment. On top of all of this, the place has the nerve to have a bug problem. DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I spoke with several Property Managers from The School at Spring Garden about my Wi-Fi not working in my apartment. I am a Masters Student at North Carolina A&T and have several assignments that must be completed using the internet. I am aware that the computer lab closes at 10:00 pm. However, I was assured that I would have 24 hour access to the computer lab since the Wi-Fi was down. However, when I attempted to go to the computer lab after 10:00 pm., the lab was closed. I returned during the original hours, only to find out that the internet was down in the computer lab as well. Therefore, I had to travel, waste time, money, and gas to get my homework done on time. I was also told that the issue should take no longer than a week to fix. Nevertheless, the issue has been ongoing for nearly a month. Financially speaking, the amount I pay for Wi-Fi and amenities is built into the monthly rent expense, meaning that I am paying for services that I am being deprived of. Therefore, I am seeking to have my monthly rent reduced for this month, and an immediate remedy to the problem. There is no reason to brand “The School at Spring Garden” as a “Student Housing” complex and decline to provide students with working Wi-Fi or at least a working computer lab (and no internet connection whatsoever) for nearly a month. I have tried contacting Property Managers at The School at Spring Garden but could not get an answer. I then tried contacting them via email, but no email is listed on the website, and all of the emails they have sent to me a from a “no reply” address. I have reached out to corporate via telephone, since I could not find an email on their website either. Once I spoke with a corporate representative, she refused to give me an email once I told her I had a complaint. I n reference to documentation I will need a signed letter to provide my professors stating that there is no internet connection throughout the building and has not been for nearly a month. I am extremely disappointed in the service I am receiving from The School at Spring Garden and will forward this correspondence to the corporate office, the Better Business Bureau, and local governmental officials dealing with Housing and Urban Development.
The School at Spring Garden IS THE BEST !The Management Company is amazing! The prices are super affordable! Before the new management came over i thought about moving to a different place because of the bugs and lack of ammenites. However, since they took over it has been easy and effortless on my part the new management built a new gym, pool hall, card table ect. enforced way better/ regular pestcontrol that comes out THAT DAY and added new cameras. The people in the office work with you on what ever it is that you need! I am so happy to call this place home!
Lets start with the wifi... is atrocious. The place is cheap, but it is outdated and they really get you with the energy overrages. The management? ISSA JOKE. There basically is no management, you cant get any on the phone and there is never anyone in the office. I have lived here for almost a year now, and the office has been closed the ENTIRE time.
