I lived there for 2 years. The leasing process was a breeze. They resolved every issue in a timely manor! The maintenance guys were a little lazy tho, they like to put bandaids on the problem instead of actually fixing the problem. They were always really nice and respectful. The ladies in the front office were always helpful especially Stephanie!! They usually got back to me within 24hrs about any of my concerns. They keep the property clean but some of the neighbors are nasty! If you see trash during a visit, it’s not the property management.. they clean the property daily.. it’s the tenants that leave trash everywhere, except in the dumpster where it goes! Only suggestion I have is don’t put tenants with a lot of small children over other tenants. They definitely belong on the lower levels! Some nights it sounded like WWE above me. As far as the demographics of the neighborhood when I moved there it was half and half.. black and Hispanic. When I left it was mostly Hispanic so some nights there were great parties lol. I will continue to recommend this place to others looking for an affordable place on the east side.
This complex is so dirty and trashy. People are constantly working on there cars you would think it’s an auto shop and not to mention my cousins neighbors apartment got shot into. She has a baby and the front desk never reached out to her to insure her safety or let her know what was going on. With all the things that go on in this neighborhood they were so worried about my cargo van being double parked they had me towed and I had to pay 500 dollars to get my van out of towing. Not to mention it being the first week out of the month. Very inconsiderate of what other people have going on. I could see if my tags were expired but for double parking? They need to focus on the crime that goes on this neighborhood. Wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone to stay.

Somerstone Estates has its ups and downs. Didn’t attend the BBQ but other functions they had were ok. Don’t know any residents… just live here!

I have been here since December 2020 and so far so good. Roxanne got me squared away so quickly and my move was very easy. If I had to make one complaint it would be the trash pile up. Makes me concerned about unwanted critters. Overall, not bad. Close to grocery stores and shopping.
I don’t recommend this place. They have been holding my security deposit for the past two months. Can’t get in touch with anyone for help. This is not a company I would do business with in the near future. I would find other place to live if u are looking for a apartment.
Roxanne Avelar exceeds the bar when it comes to customer service. Ive been a resident at Somerstone Estates since August 2016 and from day one of meeting her, its been nothing but a blessing. Roxanne is professional, respectful, personable, knows her job well, attends to issues right away and just does exactly what she says shes going to do. Nothing in life is perfect but she makes living here well worth it. She deserves a pay raise, promotion and to be cloned because she is the epitome of customer service.
I moved here on Valentine’s Day in of 2019 and left October 2019 due to being ROBBED. i stayed on the second floor and they climbed my balcony and no body saw a thing “allegedly” (there was people outside 24/7 even until 6am being loud) my company’s car was hit and they swept up the glass and didn’t say anything! Roxanne & Stephanie are wonderful but the community itself is horrible. Especially the ones you can tell don’t pay rent because they’re outside all day and night! Only if security was there every night to stop the problems. CAMERAS NEED TO BE INSTALLED ON EVERY LIGHT POLE !

These are great apartments in a great area. Maintenance and office staff are friendly. My conversations with their representative have been extremely informative. Roxanne took her time to make sure that I had the home I wanted as well as needed. By her being empathetic to my needs, I felt as if we had connected, building a working relationship I could trust. I could see myself actually living in a community such as this. I love my time here and will always recommend it to others!

Do not move into this apartment complex! I had made a payment on admin and application fee and the apartment i wanted.... come to find out the apartment they had on the website that said was available wasnt even available. I had called them for days, NO ANSWER! I also had made a down payment on the apt on the apprent and they said they was going to give me a refund for it ... going on 4 weeks later, STILL HAVENT RECEIVED IT! I been calling there phone everyday and they NEVER pick up. I left plenty of voicemails and there was no answer! Its hard to be able to go to the office because i live 2 hours away! Hoping to find a home here and im giving the run around on my money!! Do not apply here! Sn: i will be there Tuesday to speak with a manager!

Somerstone Estates is beautiful community. Maintenance is always on top of everything, and the office staff could not be better. Very attentive and helpful with everything from simple work orders to questions about the lease. The PM Wendy is extremely prompt on helping her residents feel cared for and ensures that we are in need of nothing. She goes the extra mile and it’s very much appreciated. This community is one I’d definitely recommend.

I applied to Somerstone Estates the first week of January 2020. Initially they told me my application was denied because of incorrect data they got from a third party Fabsco. I advised the data was incorrect, The leasingConsultant Stephanie said if I couldProvide documentation then maybe. I advised her to do the rentalverification because that’s what you pay the application fee for right? She did the rental verification and what I said turned out to be true that information they received fromfabsco was incorrect. Stephanie called meand told me then send a copy of my bank statements because my job only has phone verification and they can’t use that. I sent her my bank statements she then told that the application was approved she needed her manager to look over it. She then toldme that I needed to pay my $25.00 admin fee ( which is done after the application is approved ). She processed my payment and said she would send me a welcome home letter by the end of the day. That was January 28th. I have not heard anything from her. I’ve called the leasing office numerous times, and even left messages. I feel like $25 was justSTOLEN from me.
Relocating is always a pain. Not this time! Roxanne made sure I was well informed through out the entire process and never once hesitated to answer any questions I had! She was a joy!
Im giving this apartment complex and the staff 1/5 stars because there was no option to give 0/5 stars. My apartment was recently burglarized, my bedroom window was kicked in and thousands of dollars worth of items were stolen. I needed the window boarded up so I reached out to the emergency maintenance line they were not responsive for at least 2 hours. The next morning I went to the leasing office to inform them of the circumstance agents were far from understanding. The agents in the leasing office were extremely rude and had absolutely no information on the renters insurance policy. I spoke with Wendy whom I thought was great prior to all of this and she was very nonchalant. She directly told me that the safety of the residents was not their issue or concern and that forced entry theft happens frequently. They told me I had to pay $400 to switch my apartment even though it would be in the same exact apartment complex and I just had thousands of dollars worth of clothes, electronics and irreplaceable items stolen from. I have never felt so disregarded and belittled as a resident. I will NOT be renewing my lease here and will NEVER recommend anyone to stay here. Residents safety and security should ALWAYS come first and be a priority.
I been here for many years I cant see myself living anywhere else. The staff is great they always welcome you with open arms and willing to help you with whatever your having problems with. They make you happy and have you smiling when you leave the office.

This place is the complete worst ! Once you sign the lease you are a CHECK, not a RESIDENT. Your comfortability or safety is far at the bottom on their list of concerns. There are both RATS!!! And ROACHES !!! Visiting my apartment periodically and I haven’t even been here a year ! The Maintenance is laughable and the garbage is an entire different issue . It’s all over the complex, EVERYDAY! feeding the rats I guess . Not to mention embarrassing. I have both video and pictures of all of this, that I can provide to whom ever cares to see them .

My sister recently moved into this complex in November And has had nothing but problems. This is the Worst place ever . They take forever to make repairs if they repair it at all. Completely not worth the money. Office staff is no help. Tiny apartments not worth half the money they are charging. Dishwasher doesn’t work, no a/c a complete dump. Don’t waste your time applying here. I don’t see how they are allowed to charge high rent for such trash apartments. Will contact the city of Charlotte Monday

They told me they had a renovated 3 bedroom I paid the fee and they tried to put me in a 2 bedroom that wasn’t renovated! Wouldn’t refund fees and had to go through my bank to get refund, Roxanne was very rude! Beware!

Me and my grandma had a great experience with the staff at Somorstone estates. I understand that a new management company purchased this community and has lots of renovations planned. My grandma moved in to a newly renovated 1 bedroom apartment at an affordable rate. Wendy provided great customer service and my grandma is excited to move in.
My friend lived in the apartment complex.When he moved in, it was a renovated apartment but had roaches which Im sure management was aware of upon move in. The parking was scarce at night. I remember several times where I couldnt find parking so I had to illegally park and wait until someone moved. Im not sure what the issue with valet trash was, but neighbors would pile it up in some random spot in the parking lot or it wouldnt get picked up for days in front of people doors. The apartments are decent though but it was the way the grounds are kept that makes it unappealing. Its a huge complex so kids are everywhere. Not really the best place for single individuals without kids.

BEWARE! The complex gives residents rewards points for positive reviews which has skewed the complex from barely a 2 star to almost a 3.5 in a short period of time. However, the complex is still subpar. I have been in upgraded and “classic” units and while the insides of the upgraded units are beautiful, they are still in rundown buildings. The stairs always have food and other mystery liquids dripped down them from the valet trash people dragging the trash down the stairs. (side note the valet trash people rarely come and get the trash as scheduled sometimes leaving my trash out for 3+days) The trash situation attracts so many bugs. When it hits dark outside my walkway is flooded with gigantic roaches and sometimes they line the stairs as well. I have been able to keep those out of the apartment due to my own diligence and often times cleaning the stairs and walkways myself. The pool is rarely open and when it is it’s only from 2pm to 8pm which means I can only use it on weekends due to my work hours.The biggest drawback for me is the maintenance. Maintenance never fixes anything in a timely manner. Our toilet was leaking water and we had standing water in our bathroom for 4 days. We have also came home from a weekend trip to a hole in our ceiling. We immediately placed a work order and yet today (a month later) there is still a hole in the ceiling. We were going to try and save money and stay in the complex because the housing market is expensive in Charlotte but they are raising the rent so much that we were able to get an apartment at a luxury complex for only $50 more a month. The end of my lease can’t come soon enough.This complex is not worth it at all! Save your coins and go somewhere else.
This place is terrible the rent is way to high for no reason the office people are nice and give good service but its just the apartments this place is infested with rats!!!!! Yes rats i have had multiple encounters with them and mice time to time this place makes you pretty much pay for things you dont ask for. ALSO when calling for pest control it takes about 2 months until they come and if you have a rat infestation they bring sticky pads. These apartments are disgusting and honestly sad no one should have to deal with this.

Omg, I went to look at this apartment a few days ago. I just couldnt get over the awesome price. As soon as I drove up there was trash every where. Like everywhere. The leasing office was being renovated so they moved it into an apartment which was straight up funky. She proceeded to show me an apartment 1 bedroom. The building she showed me was really bad. The paint was falling off. Things were falling off. Trust me it was bad. She open the apartment and said this would be the apartment that Ill move into. The carpet was dirty. There was mold, MOLD on the window and in the bathtub. I just couldnt get out fast enough. This place is trash sorry. Management, you really need to fix up your buildings. Showing moldy apartments to potential tenants is just a no no!
I don’t have any problems with the apartment accept I a problem with the trash and the maintenance. You pay for spotty valet trash service and they have one dumpster on the OTHER side of the complex and then they email you about water maintenance and they give you a time but cut the water off before the specified Time and when you tell them about the inconvenience that it caused they’re just like “oh well I’m sorry we hope to have it back on soon!” I won’t be renewing my lease here
I love living at SomerStone. I have been in different apartment complexes through Charlotte, but SomerStone definitely stands out. I like the fact that it is spacious. There is plenty space where you can take a walk or even jog around the main winding street. In addition, the renovation and new amenities (cyber coffee space, the gym, kids park) makes it more attractive. Moreover, Somerstone is minutes away to major stores, banks.. around Charlotte. (NB: based on my personal experience).
I viewed two apartments today at Somerstone Estates and was very impressed with the customer service and professionalism I received from Ms. Maria and Ms. Susanah. Ms. Maria is real and I would not have known Ms. Susanah was new, if I had not asked her how long had she been working there. I liked both apartments that they showed me. Prayerfully one will be available for me in a couple of months.
When I first moved to Charlotte, Somerstone became my home soon after. I needed a place quickly. The move in process initially was a peace of cake until my move in date got pushed back twice. I ended up with a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom. Nothing in the unit was updated. Soon after my move in date the office staff was replaced with new staff members.Fast forward about 6 months I had issues with my hot water tank and it took them about a month and a half to replace it. The tank needed reset multiple times a day. I thought my troubles were over but only a few weeks later I began to hear birds inside the apartment, there were somewhere between my apartment and the apartment beneath me. Myself and the woman who lived under me spoke to the staff in the office several times and it was probably another month or two before that was taken care of, the birds died and their was an awful smell that I was left to deal with. Things seem to be going smoothly for a while, I went on a vacation this past summer and when I came back there was a hole in the ceiling. This was in July, I moved out in October, the hole did not get fixed until the beginning of October. Somerstone offers valet trash services, but its a joke. Paying $25 a month for your trash to pretty much sit outside your apartment for days at a time because no one comes to get it.This past August i reported to Somerstone that my bathroom toilet was leaking, they sent someone over to fix the issue multiple times. It was never fixed the toilet kept leaking and the bathroom kept flooding. This went on for about a week or so until they finally decided to replace the toilet.Overall Somerstone was not necessarily a bad place to live for 2 years. But definitely not somewhere I would recommend for long term living. The rent continues to raise and not very many changes are occurring. The rent raising this past time was the last straw for me. If Im going to pay over 1k in rent, Im going to pay 1k in rent to a place that is worth it.The Staff in the office are very kind and express concern for tenets comfort, but they are slow when it comes to maintenance issues. If you arent looking for somewhere long term, this may be a place for you. But if you are looking long term for a place, longer than a year or more. Look elsewhere because you will be disappointed.

Theres nothing wrong with the apartment that we are currently living at all, its a nice quiet area at night and during the day. The neighbors stay to themselves and not nosy lol or in any other business !!! My daughter loves their playground and to play with the other kids. Overall I love my apartment and the staff :)
Was moving from Columbia SC to Charlotte for my job (relocation). Somerstone made the transition easy and were considerate. When all the other apartment complexes turn me down and gave me the run around, Susanna and her team made me felt welcome to the Queen City. On top of getting a fully renovated one bedroom that was roomy with hardwood floors (I love hardwood over carpet) I got a 6 month move-in discount and move-in gifts. How awesome is that?! A plus is the their laundromat, seasonal outdoor pool, fitness center and doggie park. Also a playground for your kids. Although its on the East side of Charlotte, you will feel safe and comfortable. Neighbors are nice and watch everything lol. And, they have regular giveaways and discounts on your rent for early payments. Check our Somerstone, youll be glad you did!

Ive lived here for almost 2 years. Dont let the name fool you, there is nothing luxury about this place. Yes, the rent is cheap for such a close location to Uptown, University, and Matthews, and the square footage is awesome, but thats about it. The buildings are older. They need to be remodeled. It seems that all they do to your apartment prior to you moving in is throw a new coat of paint on the walls and new carpeting. They gym is a joke. The pool is hardly open. There are zero overhead lights in the living room or bedrooms. I moved in with broken blinds, cracks in my wall, a missing tub stopper, and lumps in the flooring. Ive had several issues with pests (swarms of wasps, spiders, and even a bird) inside my apartment. Management didnt seem to care too much about it. They sent pest control a handful of times, but that didnt resolve the issue. I basically had to handle it myself. The walls are thin. I can hear my upstairs and neighbors beside me. The place is drafty and my energy bills fluctuate drastically. I really try to be positive about places where I live considering I dont want to pay outrageous Charlotte rent prices, but Somerstones cheap prices arent worth it in my opinion. My lease ends this summer and I wont be renewing. The only reason Im giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the prime location to just about everything.

The worst place Ive ever lived! If you can help it do not move here. I was new to the area and didnt have many options as a result of last minute decisions. The staff was nice and helping. When I moved in the only thing the did was put new carpet in. Seems like everything in there was broken...the light fixtures were damaged, balcony doors broke, closet door would not shut, kitchen drawers were broken and hanging on by prayer and faith, the carpet had lumpy metal material under it in one spot of the house that never got fixed, blinds were cracked...the list goes on. Nothing was ever fixed! None of the maintenance men speak English so when they did come to respond to a maintenance request nothing got resolved because communication was impossible. The worst overall experience. This place would be a wonderful place to live if major upgrades were done. The location and pricing is perfect!

I moved to somerstone estates november 7th 2018, shortly after I started hearing critters in my bedroom wall, a few days later it chewed threw my wall. I called millions of times for assistance it took them FOREVER. they sent a maintenance man to nail a board over the hole in my wall. Had an exterminator vome set traps they said they caught them . A few weeks later THEY ARE BACK. I keep calling the office nobody EVER PICKS UP! they refuse to discount my rent for the inconveniences, but when my rent is late they calling my phone . But cant answer for the tenants when they need help!! Horrible apartments im thinking about moving!!
I dont know why these apartment complexes got into the habit of giving you the option of units to choose between classic meaning outdated, and renovated with means updated! That should not mean you have to pay $100 more just to get into one of their updated units as they should be updating them anyway as part of normal protocol. Besides, in most cases their outdated options look so crappy you wont even feel it worth paying the already steep price of $800-$900 for a 1br which is their lower range Now a days they are no longer being sly about it and making it plain and clear how they are leveraging on the fact that so many newcomers are arriving to Charlotte looking for a place to live and so they upsell these subpar units like crazy giving them a lousy deal because they assume these people are desperate and limited in their options so they use that to their advantage. DONT give these complexes your business until they learn to play fair and offer you at least a decent deal in getting a quality apartment for your hard earned money. In the end, their job is to acquire your business and cater to you, not you to their pockets.
I’ve lived here since December. I want sign anymore lease’s here . Every time I call them they don’t ever answer . I have to at least call 12 times just for them to answer . That’s very unprofessional to me . Especially if when I come in your just sitting at the computer or eating . Even if it’s for a apartment issue. I had a package at the office and they didn’t even bother to email me or call me .
Wendy wss the first person i meet when i was looking for a place to live. My wife an i seperated for 2 and a half years i was homeless . No one here would rent me an apartement or hear my story .one day i tried somerstone and i met Wendy .no only did she listen to my story an took compasinate an helpes me to get a place to live .From day 1 I move into this place when I walk into the door she knows my name she speaks shes,curdiouse ans kind with what ever you have going on .Im a,militry vet a disabled vet most people dont give a,damm about that they dont care if yoy have a,place to live how your feeling or sick but not Wendy .She continues to ask how your doing and gets taken care off .since my seperation she is the first person to make me feel that we matter .I watch her with others an she treata,them the same way .People always pray for someone to help them in thier life God sent me here an tjats,how I found them .I,enjoy Somerstone where I live the personall is,wonderfull but the greast part is no matter what proublem or just want go talk to somone I always,can count on Wendy .No matter who you send here no one else can,do what she can and make everyone feel special .Remeber this is from a use to be homeless vet 17 years 7 wars an no one has made me feel,speacial like Wendy .
Worse apartments ever! Let me start from the beginning... I moved there in July only because I previously lived in a sister property and absolutely loved it but the neighborhood I lived in didn’t offer 3 bedrooms so I thought somerstone would be okay since they looked pretty decent on the outside and was owned by the same company... my apartment was not ready when they told me It would be, granted then only ending up needing an additional 3 days, but I was promised a renovated unit and My apartment was raggedy af and was nothing like what was showed to me before applying. The staff is RUDE maintenance never fixed anything rent was HIGH as hell for no reason. Paid an additional $40 a month for a washer and dryer THAT DID NOT WORK. Apartment had roaches, side door didn’t lock, there was never any Parking, they were always doing dumb unnecessary “renovations” etc. ultimately I ended up terminating my lease with almost a year left because they signed me up for a 14 month lease and of course they didn’t offer the opportunity to sublease. I was at the point where I just hated coming home. I’m writing this review today because I guess theyre bribing people with a free echo dot to write a review sooo I’m going to tell the truth 🙂

Avoid at all costs. Price gouging and GREED! Staff are terrible & I believe, prejudiced. If you are not Latinx, the look at you half crazy when you come to the ridiculously decorated club house FULL of amenities residents cant use.Kept the pool closed until the LAST week of summer last year. Charge for trash service NOBODY asked for. Never warned us that internet is now being placed in all units - despite if you already pay for it. Just more ways for them to raise rent on folks that have been here for years, to force them out.They dont answer the phone, and they wont take payments in the office anymore! Forget people who cant afford or are unable to use the internet. But, the WILL make you pay for it :) The office has worse hours than a bank, & was closed for 2 months worth of Fridays due to Jewish holidays. Never seen anyone there on Sundays as advertised. Cause people who work real jobs, with real hours can afford to leave work in the middle of the day - or even MOVE to fit in to THEIR schedule. Dasmen sucks the goodness out of every place it buys. Cant wait to get out of this damn lease.Maintenance requests? Better put it in 2 weeks before you need it. And even then, the staff will leave behind a HUGE mess. I had a guy spraying for bugs come in my apt. 4:40 p.m. & walked in on me in the shower! There was a leak under some steps in our parking lot, filthy water flowing out day & night - for almost 2 solid months. They cut the water off for the entire day at 10 AM, with NO warning, after all that time to get it fixed. Sent an email 0:44 later. I had to go to the gym to take a shower!The rent is just going to keep rising to keep the incompetent office and maintenance staff comfortable with the big screens in the office, snacks, and luxury office stuff we pay for. Potholes are everywhere, and as usual, laundromat for Dasmen is a joke. Ownership has changed at least 4 times since Ive been here. This place is garbage.Oh, and they have peoples cars towed in the middle of the night. Not weekends when its an actual problem - but in the middle of the week so you can get ready for work and no car. Nevermind if you work nights and have anyone over like folks do in the day time.They dont even have visiting hours posted! If thats the case, I dare you to have those cars towed in the middle of the day or early evening. Didnt think so.Carpet was disgustingly filthy when we moved in. And they have the nerve to charge for visual infarctions. Fix things that are needed & stop padding your pockets!!!Dont waste your time or money here. At least get what you pay for. But if youre Latinx, hell, you may get a break on your rent. And Im not prejudiced in ANY way - but I know what Ive seen and heard in that office myself. Stop assuming only Latinx people speak Español, ladies ;-)And dont comment on my post, DASMEN/PROPERTY OWNERS saying I have the wrong company because I choose to remain anonymous. You WONT have a lease with my name, but TRUST when I say I currently live here and cant wait to leave! ✌
I just move in to this place and let me tell you first off Susana and the other pretty chic(sorry i dont know your name ! ) is suppppper niceee!!!! Everything i needed they made it happen !!! I recommend the upgrades if tpu care about all that fablous stuff then standard would be fine ! Either way somerstone is a great amazing place to live !!!!!! And i love the rewards thing !!!!!!

This place is horrible! Do not move here!!!! I have lived here for a year and I renew ed my lease this past September. Well in October I get a notice on my door that they switched management and that they need a copy of my lease or I will be charged month mto month. I am now being charged on a month to month basis which made my rent increase nearly $200/ month. I work in Spartanburg sc so I am never home when the office is open. I have called and emailed the office several times and have not received a response back yet. Now Im having to take off work in order to speak with someone in person! I am furious and am definitely looking for new apartments to move into.
Wished i can give a 0 star. Moved in 3 years ago because the model was in great shape and loved it. Moved in under the assumption they were going to do work to accommodate my wife who is disabled..... get in there, missing drawers from the kitchen and bathroom, under counter light doesnt work, closet light in master didnt work, chipped glass on the mirror, painting that looked like a kid did it throughout (including on the carpet in spots), and burner on stove didnt work. Only think EVER fixed was the stove after 4 attempts including it catching fire one night; that was replaced with one that looked like itd been through hell already. After nearly 2 years, a ramp was finally put in to accommodate my wifes wheel chair. if you live in a certain building in the back, be prepared to have sewage back up every 4 months! Glad to be out of there, was the worse 3 years of our lives and to think we had our 2 yo son go through it with us.... Seemed like a great deal for the price but thats what we get for thinking.
