I am so glad I found this place! My husband and I travel for his work and I have teal colored hair and have a hard time finding salons who offer fashion color services. I called and booked an appointment with Rylie! She is AMAZING!! After 2 years of having my hair colored teal and visiting with many stylists in different states she has out performed them all! Best haircut I have gotten in a long time. The staff is great. Riley and Bre are great for mens hair in my experience.Update:The haircuts are still very good. They however have a bad tendency to provide preferential treatment to some of their guests. So, if you are ones of those good for you. But, if not, too bad I guess.

I came in at 2pm for my very first bleaching experience with Riley. I was very nervous about doing it but I am SO GLAD I DID! Riley did a phenomenal job and I will 100% be coming back. Both my color and cut are better than I imagined. If I could give them more than 5 stars i would.

Wouldnt know how their haircuts are because they never answer the phone. It just rings and rings or you get a horrible screeching noise. They also dont respond to the contact form on their website. I cant contact them to make an appointment.To be clear, I called multiple times during the week and during business hours. I did not try calling Saturday after 3p. I submitted a contact request on their website Tuesday June 8th 2021 after calling twice and no one answered. I had hoped they would contact me but I recieved no response.

I’m originally a mid-dark brunette and Tisha (sorry if I mispell your name 🙏🏽) dyed my hair and I love how the colors turned out! If I dye my hair to any other color, I’m going straight back to you!

I went in without knowing what I really wanted and Rylie worked with me to figure it out. I love love love my hair and feel so free. My only problem is a cold neck from going long hair to short XD

I came in to have my hair bleached and dyed and Tisha did such a good job with my hair; I love it so much!! I have very dark hair and Ive struggled to get it light enough to dye it silver and Tisha made my dreams come true! I will definitely come back whenever I want to get my hair done again. 😊

Last week, I went to my appointment at Leedz to dye my hair rose gold. Tisha was my stylist. She did such an amazing job. First of all, she had me come in for a hair consultation to make sure my hair was healthy enough to do what I wanted. Second of all, she helped me decide what look I was actually going for which includes things like maintenance, cost, and overall look. I was already super impressed.Two weeks later I had my actual hair appointment. Tisha did such a good job. Despite heavily lightening my hair, it is still in great condition. After the initial color, it was more purple than I would have liked, and Tisha immediately offered to fix it free of charge. I declined. I hoped it would be good after a wash, and also I thought my hair had been through enough that day. I just washed it for the first time, and it is THE PERFECT color. It turned out so well. I highly recommend. Ive never had anyone treat my hair with so much respect. Also, Tisha was super nice.

Got my haircut by Morgan and she was extremely rude and very unprofessional. Didn’t do what I asked her for and when I wanted to correct her she threw a tantrum and wasn’t so happy about it. She had a big bottle of Vodka sitting on the counter like if it was a bar or something and there were kids aged about 10 year old inside the salon. Will never go back

In December of 2020 I was serviced by Morgan at Leedz Salon. I consulted with her prior to my appointment about having my 4 wefts of hidden row beaded extensions moved up after nearly three months of growth. This method is extremely difficult, and Morgan assured me she would be able to do the job. While she was extremely kind and took her time completing the service, her work did not last long and I found myself back at the salon after three days due to the slippage of nearly all of my beads down the hair. This means they were not correctly installed, or that the quality of the beads was not to par. I have fine hair, but have never had this problem before or any issues like it. My previous installation from another salon lasted perfectly from September until my appointment at Leedz in December. Morgan kindly removed them, installed them again, and I was happy and on my way. Less than a week later, I am experiencing the same issues - I have beads falling out of my hair, bringing clumps of my natural hair with them. I reached out to the owner of the salon, Doug, to see about receiving either another install attempt by another stylist, or a partial refund of the installation price - not the price of my color or other fees, only the part of the service I had an issue with. I was told to expect a call that evening. The next day, he texted me after I missed a call from him at work, simply stating I would not receive any type of refund and that the slippage and damage to my hair was due to me “brushing my hair aggressively.” I have had extensions for nearly a year and have never ever experienced any type of slippage near this caliber - especially after only two days, or less than a week. I use a brush that is specifically intended for extensions, and have always been careful as to increase my time between move-ups. Doug was extremely rude and did not offer any other solution to my problems, only blamed me and threatened that if I were to “slander” his company, that I would be liable and action would be taken against me. I do not recommend Leedz Salon for hidden row beaded extension services. This was my own personal experience. These photos are mine and were taken two days after my first installation appointment.

I went into leedz hoping to find a stylist that could finally give me the style my other stylist couldn’t give me. I asked for a long bob that I wanted to hit the top of my shoulders. I received a bob that is over an inch above my shoulders. In the mirror it looked fine but when I got to my car I realized how short it was. I don’t look like myself anymore and am embarrassed to wear my hair down now. I had to cancel my senior pictures because my hair is so short now that I look like I’m 6 years old. I wish I could’ve received the same service everyone else was raving about.

I called in a week earlier explaining what I want and what my hair already looks like. They set an appointment, I Go in and they say they don’t have time for it and that they should’ve set up a consult before the appointment!Then I ask for a haircut and I cancelled my hair color.Supposed to have layers and be all not same length!Ended up looking the same hair it was before just shorter.This was my first time experience. And I honestly thought and expected so much from them! I looked into reviews before I go in and I expected so much much much more than just this!Ended up paying them $45 And I tipped 15 for just a haircut I don’t like!I’m not gonna say they are bad salon. They are not, they have good service! It’s just that as a new customer, who has been waiting whole time in quarantine, and is excited for it, it’s really annoying to leave without any change.

My first time at Leedz, nice, clean environment. Precautions for covid 19 were taken. Riley was my stylist and she was amazing! Havent been to a salon in a long long time, she was very helpful with how I can keep my hair healthier and what products would be best for my hair type. Would definitely recommend!

Best Salon in Ames by far!! All the girls there do a wonderful job! Very well managed. Doug the owner mentors all his hair stylists and that is why they are exceptional hair care professionals. They have inventory of some of the top brands of products for your hair care needs. It is a relaxing, chill, fun atmosphere. I have been going to Riley for over 1 year now and she is one of the best!

I have seen Tisha for two coloring appointments and she is an absolute magician. She saved my striped, patchy box dyed mess of hair and made it first a beautiful pink, and now a gorgeous mix of purple and blue. She is incredibly friendly and taught me so much about color theory while working on my hair. She is a must for anyone into fashion colors or needing color correction, and Leedz is a wonderful, comfortable salon to see her in. 10/10!

Went to get my eyebrows waxed and ended up getting highlights. Everything turned out beautiful, Bailey did an amazing job with my hair and eyebrows. The staff was all so friendly and helped me with my 5 year old and my 3 month old. I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend them.

I always feel hard to find a good hairstyle that makes me satisfied until I visited here. Doug really did a great job! When I came home, my son told me:” mom, I cannot recognize you now!” When I felt stressful I called to make an appointment with him. He cheered me up by giving me a brand new looking. I was surprised by his amazing cutting skills. By the way, he is so nice and kind that makes me feel comfortable! Thank you so much Doug!

Leedz Salon provides a great experience for the price. There are a lot of options in the local Ames area but $20 for a mens haircut is tough to beat. They have excellent customer service, location and knowledgeable staff all working in their favor. I have been twice and will continue to go back.

I wish I could give this place a nice rating but this was probably the worst highlight and cut Ive ever gotten. I dont blame the salon, Im sure everyone there is great but I went to this salon because I thought I would be high quality. Instead I got someone who had only been cutting hair for 3 months. She was very sweet but gave me everything I didnt want. I wanted highlights to blend my hair better and I have these choppy, clearly uneven streaks through my hair. I also wanted a very small trim. I EMPHASIZED barely any off and she cut about 1/2 a foot off. My hair used to go all they way down my back and now it barely hits my bra line. Im actually a little devastated over it. I also ask for long layers and I think she managed to cut layers out of my hair. I have a straight blunt line and then it randomly starts to taper. I know she was a new girl but when I go to a salon that boasts quality thats what I want. Otherwise I wouldve just gone to a beauty school for half of the price! This is only a review for this certain stylist, in no way do I think the rest of the salon works like this.

I came here for my first haircut in a year so it was a bit of a big moment for me. I dont really like what I got but I can live with it and my hairdresser was the sweetest and very polite! The shampoo they use smells great too.(edit) Thats kind but my hairs already cut quite a bit shorter than what I was hoping for, so I dont think much else can be done to make me happier with it. Ill just have to grow it out. It probably looks good on someone else, but I just wish I liked it more than I do. Thanks tho.

Had a wonderful experience for my first hair cut in Im not even sure how long! Its not just the haircut itself that can make or break an experience, its the hospitality and welcoming personalities that make this salon what it is. My stylist was still quite new, 3 months in, from the time she finished schooling. She made it simple for me to enjoy my time in an environment I was unfamiliar with. Sadly, I havent grown to love my hair in the shape it was cut, but I would still give Leedz another try in the future due to the respect I feel I was given.

Had an appointment with Riley yesterday to get a ton of my hair cut off with layers added in. I took in plenty of pictures of what I wanted. She NAILED IT. It’s not always the case where I get the exact hairstyle I want when I go to a salon, but my hair looks just like the picture. Loved her attitude as well. Doug’s dyed my hair many times before and he’s my favorite there. Will always go back for more.

I have been coming to Leedz salon for 12 years and theyve always done a wonderful job- all great stylists that really listen to all the customers! I had a regular cut/trim/thin my hair day back in April and although I have never dyed my hair in my life, I wanted to do something fun for summer! My stylist Taylor suggested a balayage hair coloring and I came on Saturday and left really really happy. It was clear she knew what she was doing and since Saturday I have received countless compliments on my hair coloring. Its absolutely perfect and I will probably come back for a similar coloring at the end of summer before my wedding. I love my hair!

I didnt realize that they needed two appointments, one for practice and one for the actual day, and the staff did everything they could to make it work for me.The owner stopped by while I was there and congratulated me and talked for a bit. I went to Leedz Salon for the first time yesterday on the recommendation of my coworker. My experience was great! Every staff member I encountered was professional, friendly, and very welcoming. Kelli cut and styled my hair and Im nothing less than thrilled with the end result. She listened to my admittedly-vague idea of what I wanted and asked the right questions to ensure that she understood what I was looking for. Because of her attentiveness, I ended up with the best cut possible. From the service at the reception desk to the salons professional but relaxed atmosphere, every part of my visit impressed me. I felt very pampered and will definitely be back when it comes time for my next haircut.

Doug has cut and colored my hair for at least 20 years (perhaps more). I have always been very happy with the results. While Doug is a great stylist, he is an OUTSTANDING colorist. My mother sees Heather, who is also fantastic.

They cut a lot of hair for a small slice of wallet. I did ask for them put my leftover hair in a box (similar to how they do with food in a restaurant), but they did not feel as though that was something they wanted to do. Aside from them likely selling my gorgeous hair on the brunette market, Id say its a good cut.

Seems hit or miss with the stylists. I got a great haircut done from Trisha, but because I am a student and have a strict schedule...sometimes I have to go with someone who is avaliable within my time-frame. This can leave you with stylists that are readily available...for a reason.

Riley and Doug took my mess of orange and pink hair to a beautiful white platinum blonde. To say they worked a miracle would be an understatement. Riley was very patient through it all, and gave me exactly what I wanted. She is very talented and does an amazing job with bleach and color. I have been going to leedz salon for about 2 years now, and never have received a bad haircut. My stylist, Meghan who moved unfortunately, did not cut my hair. I asked for a undercut with more of fade and even showed a picture of what I was asking for, and within the first seconds of the haircut, the side of the my head was pretty must bald. I am disappointed that after spending over 60 dollars, the hairstyle I wanted was no where near what I got.

I have an appointment with Morgan every 3 weeks for a haircut. She cuts my hair the way I like it every time. I can relax when Im there and know Ill be leaving with a great cut!

Yesterday I make a phone call to make a schedule for today 4:30pm to get the haircut. Then today the front desk call make to reschedule, tell me we close at 5pm. We unusually dont accept customers at 4:30pm. I fell so bad with this. U guys give me a time at 4:30pm. And then call me let me reschedule? Excuse me? Really?

Megan from Leedz SAVED my hair. I had the worst balayage of my life from a different salon, and she fixed it with no trouble at all, and kept the integrity of my hair as best as she could! She was very thoughtful, made sure my car didnt get a ticket, and made me feel so comfortable the whole time. I wish I would have discovered Leedz and Megan when I was a freshman, so I could have had this good of an experience all four years of college. The salon itself is beautiful and the hair wash station is the BEST. I can not say enough good things about Megan and the whole staff!!! Thanks Megan:)

If I could give it a -10 I would. Worst hair experience ever! Ive been to multiple differeny salons and this was definitely the worst! The lady that did my hair kept on pulling my hair so hard i felt like she was trying to pull it off. It took 3 hours and I left the salon extremely unhappy with my color. It was an ugly brow WITH GREEN IN IT!!! I even told the lady if she wont be able to finish my hair to please not let me walk out of here with an ugly color and said dont worry i wont. The worst part is I had to go to work right after and I put my hair up because I was so unsatisfied with my color. Super overpriced as well. I made an appointment with studio 7 the next day and the people there were so much better. My stylist definitely understood me and got the color I wanted for much less than leedz. I was definitely recommend to save your money and head on over there!

Leedz Salon did an amazing job salvaging my poorly bleached hair. I had done this at home and quickly learned this was a mistake. It was a yellow/orange patchy mess. They did a great job of explaining to me why this happened and how they were going to go about fixing this. All the employees there were very friendly and helped me feel much better about the embarrassing mess I had created. Thanks to Megan, I now have beautifully highlighted dirty blonde hair thats as healthy as possible after the whole ordeal!

I have been looking for a salon to go to since I moved to Ames in 2011. I am never going to go to another salon. The artists and receptionists are nice, and the prices are great. Taylor at Leedz has brought my hair from black, to blonde, to blue, to purple, to silver, you name it! And today she gave me the most awesome hair cut. I love it so much!!! She knew exactly what I wanted and I am so pleased. Go to Taylor at Leedz, you wont regret it!
