Best haircut for men in Ames, hands down. I’ve gotten haircuts all over the world and this is up there with some of the best places I’ve ever been in terms of quality.Highly recommend.

Came here for a regular haircut a couple of time. The barber shop is super-clean, staff very professional and quality/price excellent.EDIT - This Barber shop outstand my expectations: the Staff takes notes of previous haircut sets so they already know what could be your haircut tastes +/- little adjustments if you use a different hairdresser. Thats a big Pro.

Never going back to those other regular haircuts places after coming here. The place is neat, friendly staff. My sons haircut wasnt messed up. Price was the same also. Definitely recommend.

I normally visit budget places such as Great Clips to get my hair cut or just use clippers at home. With that being said, I would happily visit the Groom Room again to get my hair trimmed. The staff was very friendly with a great level of discussion and joking banter to help you relax while in the chair. My hair looked well styled and I enjoyed my experience. The price is higher than what Im used to (most likely in line with market expectations) which is the only reason I dont visit more often.

I’ve been getting my hair cut here for a few years by Rylie. I keep coming back because I get a great hair cut, the staff is experienced and professional, they are on time, the service is great, the music is good, and the bathrooms are always clean (I always judge a company by how nice/clean their restrooms are :)).

I typically go to Troy and get a perfect cut every time. Everyone is pleasant and youre always going to get a good haircut no matter who you schedule with.

And talked more like my mom than a stranger, also gave me a cool fade suggestion on the side of my hair, which was awesome! Doing my haircut with her again next time fs.

Tldr; excellent quality/service worth the little bit more than great clips/great cuts etcI have been to the groom room three different times and had three different people cut my hair/trim beard. The results have always been great. I do not like spending more than I have to but I absolutely recommend you spend 9 or 10 bucks more than great clips etc and get a wonderful service!

These folks have a passion for men’s hair. The place looked great and it’s great that I can book online. I actually was able to get in because somebody canceled. I had some ideas of what I wanted and they helped give some ideas that would make it better for my hair. They also gave tips on styling.They do a hot razer neck shave and a brief shoulder massage as part of the cut. This is my new spot. The professionalism, the amazing cut I got, the services, and their knowledge is the best I’ve seen.

I cant say enough good things about The Groom Room. I have been getting my haircut for the past 3 years here, and every haircut is the best haircut I have ever received. The staff are very friendly and take good care of every client. Ask for Jason, and he will give you an amazing cut! Well worth the money.

Room my son in for a haircut, he had long hair and been awhile since his last cut. I told the person that I wanted it to stay long in the back and to just “trim” it while taking quite a bit off the top and sides. It looks like they used a weed whacker to cut his hair, took way to much off the back and it’s choppy. I had to trim a lot of it when I got home to make it look somewhat decent.

An excellent experience all around. The staff are professional and the atmosphere is great now that theyve finished a huge remodel. The owners obviously have a clear vision that is reflected both in the smallest details and in the overall experience itself.Ive had cuts from Emily & Jason and would highly recommend both.

Went to the groom room for the first time this morning, with stylist Ms. B. Sat down in the chair and showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she proceeded to tell me that the haircut in the picture wouldn’t work on my hair because my hair was too thin. I told her I’ve had that cut before and that’s what I wanted. She called the manager over because she wasn’t sure how to do the cut. The manager stayed and hovered over the chair instructing her exactly how to cut my hair so she wouldn’t mess it up. The two would take turns cutting my hair like I was a test client. It felt like I was at PCI instead of a place with a great reputation like the groom room. I knew she was unsure about the cut so I offered to leave my phone out to reference the picture. Half way through the appointment she spilled water all over my phone and wiped it on the towel behind my head that had product all over it. In the end, the haircut ended up looking just alright, but I was very disappointed in the service and great amount of anxiety it produced. Not worth my $38, and I won’t be returning anytime soon. If you go here, be sure to get a different stylist at least.

Got my hair cut here for the first time today, and as long as Im living in the area this will be the only place I go! They know their styles and execute to perfection. Told Jesse the same things I told the last stylist, but my cut looks so much better than before! He made adjustments based on the texture and flow of my hair, and those little things made a big difference. Cant recommend them enough!

Theyre always very welcoming. Their staff knows what to do and you always look good when you leave (unless you just dont look good in general. They cant perform miracles).

Best Barber Shop in Ames!

It was good but they dont do straight razor cuts which is how I get my haircut. They didnt line up my hair which I think should be done with a haircut. I wont be coming back to this place and rather drive 40 miles to get it done better.
