Property manager is really kind and trying to do his best but hard dealing with college kids. Pool could use a little bit more cleaning, replace stuff in the game room, and there were some roaches but property manager is making this a priority to get rid of.
Nice appliances and amenities. Easy access to things. Free giveaways. Pet friendly. Friendly maintenance crew. Very nice pool area. Great location
Moving out was the best day of living here. Overall the place was gross and poorly built. My door fell apart from just using it, which I got charged for. Our balcony was never cleaned before we moved in, there was still glue on the floors and my bed was not properly built and broke three months into living there. The property was ALWAYS loud, I’ve had to call in noise complaints and even had to scream out my window to tell people in the parking lot to quiet down at midnight. It seemed like no one cared from the front office side of things. No one ever cleaned, the hallways smelt and the carpets were disgusting. Someone dropped chips in front of our door and it took me putting a maintenance request in, after a week of having it there, to get it cleaned. Then outside always had trash everywhere, there weren’t garbages around the property to help with it. The garbage dumpsters sat in the parking lot and smelt terrible, along with the garbage rooms, which were so bad the smell leaked into the hallway.I can go on and on about the issues I’ve had living here and I’m so glad I don’t live here anymore I don’t recommend that anyone signs a lease here.
Hi! I’ve only been living here 2 weeks and have spent the majority of them sleeping on the couch because i. unfortunately can’t fall asleep without cockroaches falling from my air vent onto my bed 😍 Maybe if I post on here management will actually do something about it instead of saying they will. I’m now officially staying at my ex boyfriends house. Thank you! And if you go into my room there is a massive one on the floor waiting for you as proof! And if I get one of those automatic feedback replies I will be even more enraged so save it 💕
Do not move here, i promise it is not worth the exhausting stress. My apartment has been infested with fleas and my roommates and i have been homeless for almost a month because management says it’s safe to stay but it is not because as soon as you step in the door, fleas attack you. Not to mention the whole building in the rugs/carpets it is infested with fleas. I’ve also had numerous cockroaches and management continues to downplay the seriousness of this. As fleas and cockroaches are major health and safety hazards. i promise you- it is not worth it.
I love how as a resident you are supposed to have access to uncommons coffee machine. i wanted hot chocolate but tge machine was out at the time. i went up to the front desk to ask them to refill it which she said she would be happy to do so. i waited and waited and even asked another person. if they had told me they were out of the product i wouldnt be leaving this review. waited about 45 min until i could assume they werent goung to do as they said. so much for ammenities.
The apartments are pretty clean since they are new and recently built, and the amenaties are awesome! I love the freebies and interactive activities every month as well. The front office staff are all friendly and super helpful! The maintenance crew members are all nice and attentive to any issues you have! The only negative is the extremely limited parking spots for visitors. Seems like anyone who comes to visit doesnt have a space to park at, as all the visitors spots are ALWAYS full. (Food Lion and the Planet Fitness parking lot both tow cars, as my friends have had their cars towed there when they come hang)It is also extremely loud, even mid weekday at 2 am. I have an apartment facing the parking lot and hear people screaming and partying almost every night.
DO NOT MOVE IN HERE! FLEA INFESTATION!!. My roommates and I have been unable to live in our apartment for a few weeks now due to intensity of the infestation. They did come and spray the apartment but the problem is within the hallways. Everything is carpet and the fleas are spreading like wildfire. I spoke with the extermination company directly and they agreed that the carpet is to blame. The property manager said the hallways were sprayed but with a generic flea killer but that obviously did NOTHING. The infestation is recurring and nothing will be solved until the the building receives a proper extermination. Do yourself a favor and dont live here.
This whole time we haven’t had us a pay electric and now all of a sudden we have to pay and rent is already $720 a month which a ridiculous overpriced/ not worth what you are getting. Do not recommend living here!!!!
Absolutely beautiful community! With so many places to study and hang out at. Each room has its own bathroom which I love. Very good security as well.
The hallways smell terrible and they will nickel and dime you for every little thing possible. The amenities are nice though.
They use bottom of the line maintenance/pest control companies, bottom of the line materials and then charge $800+ a month. You then put up a sign offering it for $625 just a week after move in since you couldnt fill the units. Sleezy. That aside all I care about as a resident is that the property is upkept but they let things get out of control to the point where the subpar pest control doesnt work. 2 stars since the property managers not a bad guy hes just stuck dealing with all this bs.
Originally was a one star but the staff contacted me and corrected the problem in a very apologetic manner. Nice people.
Great place to meet new people and hang with your friends. There are many cool amenities that are available. Also it is in great proximity to many grocery stores.
Overall terrible 0/10. DO NOT SIGN YOUR LEASE HERE.OR DO IT and I’ll be waiting for you to tell me I was right.
Just to start, my car was towed from an unmarked spot overnight on a day when the towing company was CLOSED that day as well as the next day so I could not even pick up my car until a day later after the towing fee raised to $125. There were no no parking signs, nothing telling me I could not park there, there was actually a car parked next to where I was. I have seen several cars parked in that spot and left there the next morning as well, without being towed.Next I will add that my apartment received a noise complaint weeks ago when I was not present. This noise complaint has now been posted on fox wilmington news, with false information. I am not a student at UNCW yet they claimed all of the girls in my apartment were. I wasnt even home and I notified uncommon and they have known this so there should have been no mentioning of 4 girls. Our privacy was invaded when they mentioned location of the apartment and schools we attend which wasnt even correct, and then at the end of the article they stated that if anyone wanted additional information on the incident to reach out to them. This information being out for everyone to see is not safe for us as girls living alone. Names were given to the news reporter but they were then written as redacted. Now the problems with the apartment itself. Broken base boards, broken dishwasher, broken washer/dryer, holes in the cabinets of bathrooms, chipped wall paint, wall paint splattered in the showers and on counter tops of bathrooms. None of this should be in a new build. There are 15 visitors spots for hundreds of residents guests to park in, it doesnt work. There are several open spots by the townhouses that could easily be used for visitors.Expected a lot more from this place.
Chronic beer pong parties until 2-3am makes living in my HOME Unbearable. Thank you for turning a quiet residential area into a college party zone. Now I get to listen to loud base from car stereos and speakers for parties. Screaming, hollering and cussing. Not to mention the cars that now, as I predicted, have turned franklin into nascar. Cars now go 50 or so down Franklin instead of the legal speed of 25. Mind you I’ve seen dogs with out leads run into the street.A real treat uncommon.
If I could rate this place at 0 stars I would. This place is supposed to be brand new however, there are gaping holes in the floor boards and baseboards (see attached photos). My roommate and I have also discovered a major cockroach problem festering in her bathroom (see attached photos). We have put in TWO maintenance requests regarding this issue and were met with no solution. They claimed to have sent an exterminator but my roommate and I sat home the whole day waiting and they never showed up.The build was rushed, there are literally only 15 visitor parking spaces, it is noisy, and quite frankly the staff is horrible at finding solutions.Save your money and live elsewhere.
After some housing hassle, my roommates and I found ourselves in a pickle. However, after seeing Uncommons gorgeous display in their leasing office and having excellent help from Garrison, I am beyond excited to live here! Garrison was fantastic with answering all my questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner, as well as keeping my roommates and I updated on any news he received. He was very informed about the Uncommon community and has made finding housing for next year a breeze.
I signed my lease here, and the staff was fantastic, Ashley-Brooke helped me out the most and answered any and every question I had. She even talked to my mom on the phone and answered her questions. Extreme hospitality was shown. 10/10 experience, she was very helpful.
Do not listen to the high reviews, they were before anyone moved in.As said by many, this building was rushed to finish in time. The worst part is there are currently rooms on all floors that have seen roaches. Not just 1-2 but 10+ roaches in their rooms. All they tell us is that we’ve been put on a “list” but it’s been over a week and nothing has happened except no sleeping and killing roaches. Didn’t know we had to have pest control experience to live here. There’s no cabinet space ESPECIALLY for the 4 bedroom units. You get 4 cabinets and 3 drawers. There’s people parting at all hours of the night, which like I get because we live in student housing, but during a pandemic that’s not ok.
Uncommon is truly like no other, all thanks to staff member Garrison Hall! He made me feel as if Uncommon was my home away from home. Not many other places can do that for someone who lives 12 hours away! Best customer service and the most welcoming environment! Check it out for yourself!
The students who live in the apartments on Jacksonville Street every weekend have a party with music late at night, I live in the little houses across the street on Jacksonville Street, please do something about it, there is a lot trash on Jacksonville street glasses cans and beer bottles, since those students arrived with their parties and music late at night the quiet of the neighborhood has been lost, do something please
Love uncommon Wilmington and can’t wait to live there next year. They have have always been so timely with replying to my questions. Eric Delgado is also a huge help and the main reason I know about uncommon!
Living here the management is horrible, they handle situations and maintenance in the worst way possible. They try to make you believe at lease signing otherwise, but trust the reviews from the individuals with the problems, there is no way the 5 star reviews are real.. Building structure- outrageous for being new paint on flooring from overspray during build, walls are peeling at the seems from bad sheet wall work prior to painting, cabinets are cheap and won’t line up and fall apart after a month of use, Parking-ridiculous, planned social gatherings- poor planned and scheduled 1-3 or 2-4 when everyone is at work or class, maintenance- water has been shut off multiple times and for days at a time previously, elevators-breaking a lot, apartments don’t maintain temperatures had to buy space heater, water is freezing to scolding to freezing at least 10 times during one shower, rent payment process- have had issues with the app stating wrong payment dates and take no responsibility for it.. So many more to list.. Don’t be sold on the newness, you will pay for it in the end.
I was looking to sign a lease here and had great help during the process! Ashley- Brooke was the best! She was so helpful and was able to answer all of my questions immediately. She made the experience of apartment hunting so much better with her exuberant personality. Overall Uncommons hospitality was great!
Want to live in a poorly rushed build? How about somewhere your car gets towed? Then this is definitely the place to live. Your car will get towed with no warning if you accidentally park in a poorly visible “visitor” parking spot. They have absolutley no empathy for their residents or their financial situations. No ticket, no notification that your car is going to get towed, or that it has already been towed, imagine that. Being a college student you know that your money goes towards rent, tuition and if you have enough towards food. They don’t take this into consideration, and allow the tow company to keep your car until you finally realize your car has been towed and now you need to pay over $100 to get your car back. Uncommon is over glorified, before leasing they made it seem spectacular and made a bunch of promises that they did not keep. Don’t let them coax you into signing a lease. Don’t let the 5 star reviews fool you as residents are rewarded to leave them. Save your money and lease at an apartment complex who actually care about their residents and not just act like it or even if they don’t care about you at least where you won’t be towed for living there and committing an honest mistake.Update : There is now a roach infestation in the building due to the poor up keeping of the property. ( this building isn’t even a year old!!) It seems like every turn you make there is a trash can overfilled with trash that ends up all over the floor. Hallways are never vacuumed. Stairwell is disgustingly filled with beer cans. It is an absolute shame that college students cannot seem to clean up after themselves but it is also a shame that they have not hired a cleaning service to keep the building clean. They have at least 5 people in the office sitting down, if they can’t find a cleaning company how about getting one of them to get up and clean it or the property manager himself do it. Also, the uncommon property is located next to a muffler shop. So, guess what? That means you get to hear loud obnoxious cars all day and for some reason at night too. Additionally, the property is not located in the greatest area in Wilmington so expect to see a lot of homeless people on the streets. And if anyone was wondering if they ever apologized or reimbursed me for the situation mentioned above they did not, despite their “concerned” reply. I almost forgot to add that they have not charged us for two months of electricity. Their plan is to let it accumulate and add it to the end of their lease. The third month should be added to our rent but I doubt it. This is ridiculous, we need to know how much to budget and know if we need to cut down on our electric. Can’t wait to be blindsided with that fat electric bill because they couldn’t seem to figure out how to bill us properly. They say it’s the electric company’s fault but this should have been figured out before allowing people to occupy the space. Cheers to poor property management!!Response: I have already spoken to the property manager and he made it very clear that he could not do anything to help me, not even an apology. Unless someone will be reimbursing me for the towing fees which was $150 cash ( I have the receipt) there is nothing that can be done to make me comfortable. The damage has already been done due to your poor policies. In the meantime I will keep looking for someone to sublease my room. You guys know exactly who I am, Allison Pavletic, and if you really wanted to make things right you would reach out to me because you have my contact information.
I moved in a week ago and right away I could tell things weren’t going to be as advertised. There are chips in the wall and there is no cabinet space, no drawers for silverware, no pantry, etc. parties are outrageous going till 4am even in the middle of a pandemic. Walls are paper thin so you can hear these parties as if you are right at their door and nobody controls them. We were told we could have any dog of any breed but then got and email of “aggressive breeds” that aren’t allowed, and told our dogs can’t be over 35 lbs. we were told the couch would be grey and the furniture was dark, but the couch is tan and the furniture is light so now the decorations I bought don’t match. Not to mention for the month of August we paid a full months rent even though we couldn’t move in until the 13th. Parking is limited, the first building from what I have seen doesn’t even have the ButterflyMX machine to let guests in. The area surrounding the building is kinda gross with a lot of homeless. Printing isn’t free and you have to bring your own paper. Don’t let them fool you, this isn’t the place to be.
Moved in a few days ago and while the building is beautiful, the build was rushed and there have been a lot of oversights so far. My roommates and I signed a lease on a unit in October, a few weeks later they tell us someone else had already signed a lease for that unit and we had to change units. They told us we would be getting move in boxes, but when we moved in we didn’t get anything. We were supposed to be getting a grocery giftcard but didn’t get that either. Called about the move in boxes and they said they weren’t doing them and that they were giving us grocery gift cards instead, and said we were supposed to get one, haven’t gotten anything yet. Moved in and found that night that there was no hot water. Maintenance came the next day, flipped a breaker and said it was fixed, nope! Next day they finally fix it. Then our washer- dryer stops working! Parking spots are tiny and cramped. I have seen maybe a handful of people (including staff thankfully) wearing masks for the pandemic with minimal social distancing. The office staff seems very nice though. I hope that things improve. I will provide updates.Update 1: people still don’t wear masks and there are still a lot of parties. We now have a roach problem and they said pest control would be coming today, but due to “a scheduling error” someone won’t be coming till next week. I asked repeatedly for more mask signage but none has been provided in the building. I see staff not even wearing masks sometimes and have seen resident going into common spaces with staff with no masks and they get to reprimand. My roommate was towed and management handled it horribly. Upon signing they said that no non UNCW student would be living there, but I know of several non UNCW students living here. The hallways are littered with beer cans and trash and no one is picking it up. I asked staff about it and they said that the cleaning company they were using quit (I would quit too!) and that after they got another company they would be cleaning every day. Can management not have someone pick up beer cans? Doesn’t seem that much of a chore. They do their best to trick you and deliberately die to get you to sign. They make you feel like your opinions and views matter but never do anything about it.Update 2: they hired a cleaning company y that doesn’t wear masks. It is now November and they have still not billed us for electric. My friend talked to Grant and apparently he said we wouldn’t have to pay for the past 3 months but then I called the front desk and someone said that was incorrect. There is no communication between management and employees and even less with residents. They try to do fun activities for residents which I do appreciate. Grant, the property manager is rude and had an attitude of “well what do you want me to do about it.” Their employees don’t wear masks in the office, let trash pile up over the weekend and it smells. The dog poop is still everywhere, they do t empty the dog poop trash often either. The roaches are back again and my hall has still not been cleaned. There is a drawing on the wall that has been up for a week and no one has cleaned it. When you call about a noise complaint you’ll either get someone who actually cares and addresses it as soon as possible or a guy who says “what do you want me to do about it” and just tells you to call the police if it is that big of a deal. They said that they were going to do inspections and then the property manager “got sick” so they wouldn’t be doing it for another 3 months, again lack of communication.Update 3: again lack of communication. When we signed the leasing office told us they would help us find subleasers and they had a special list for people interested. Come to find out that was a lie. No bugs anymore and way less parties so a bit better. People working at the front desk are wear masks now which I appreciate and the front desk people are just doing what they are told and are very sweet and try their best to be helpful. I really like the shuttle service I tried it out and like it!
Uncommon Wilmington has such a nice leasing office with a friendly staff! Garrison was very kind to my friends and I when we went to tour. He talks very highly of Uncommon and was even able to let us spin the wheel for a free prize!! I got a very nice stainless steel bottle out of it.
Well, just the other day I took a stroll through Racine Commons to grab the delicious 1$ tacos from Islands. As my mouth starts watering like Pavlov’s dogs, I noticed something out of the ordinary, or should I say “uncommon”.I walked into this lovely leasing office where I was greeted by a well-spoken fellow by the name of Garrison. He introduced me to all the lovely attractions Uncommon had to offer. Then and there I was hooked. After speaking to Garrison, and telling him my housing dilemma, he wished me best luck and hopes to see me around again.Needless to say I had much to think about as I ate my dollar tacos that day. And hopefully can come to a decision before it’s too late.
AB gave my room mate and I a great tour! She was super helpful and professional while discussing housing options.
I had a great experience talking to the staff about Uncommon, particularly Garrison. He was very friendly and gave me a great tour!
Great experience and a wonderful environment. The model was very trendy and the staff, specifically Ashley-Brooke, was very helpful and made my experience finding a new apartment a great one.
I had such a great experience with Uncommon Wilmington and their staff especially Garrison. He provided a fantastic tour and answered all my questions.
Ashley daniels was a fantastic tour guide. she gave my roommate and I a tour and was very knowledgeable about all of the questions we asked.
