Clean and punctual. Nail and waxing services I tried and would recommend. Massage was extraordinary for hands at the end of my manicure. 5 star service, definitely coming back for a manicure and pedicure set. They are meticulous with cuticles, nail prep & polish, they are polite, & they give nice, long massages. I have never had a bad experience here! The woman who did it was super nice and thorough !!!
Planned to get SNS nails, but the nail tech said I needed to call in advance for colored tips. Luckily she said it would be super easy to do gel and I didn’t have a preference. She did the gel and she did a fabulous job! Kept complimenting my nails throughout and did a good job of recreating the picture including picking out the perfect shades for the natural and colored parts. She was fast but thoughtful! End result looks amazing! Would recommend.
What a wonderful place just discovered! Everything is very clean and seems pretty new - nice massage chairs and they put rose petals in the water for soaking your feet which is a nice touch . Great spot for a pedicure! Really a lovely experience. Thank you. I loved my nails.
Service was exceptionally well and the staff were attentive to my requests. The selection and variety for nail work was good and I was very satisfied with the end result. All technicians appear to be great here and even with the constant flow of walk-ins and those with appointments, no one seems to be rushed to hurry up & finish.
Pleasantly surprised to have received such great service! Chris gave me the best pedicure Ive had in a very long time. I highly recommend Splendor Nails for their splendid service!
I got my nails done here. I was nervous to go at first since I had not made an appointment and I was worried about sitting at a nail counter so close to other people with the COVID scourge being what it is. I made sure I went early in the morning and when I got there I only had to wait 15 minutes. There weren’t many people in the salon so I was sat far away from other people which was nice. My nail artist wore her mask the whole time (and wore it properly) so that also made me feel better. There was a woman getting her hair done at the same time and I felt like the precautions taken could’ve been better but regardless, I didn’t feel at risk since I was sitting so far away. The quality of my manicure was very nice. Usually gel polish peels off in about a week but it last for a little longer than that so I was happy. I am not going to include a picture since it was such a basic manicure that it’s not really of note. I am planning on going back soon for something more special so I’ll try to share pictures of that so you can judge the quality of work for yourself.Update: got shellac tips and they came out great!
I had a classic pedicure and received the best massage Ive ever had. She took her time and was super gentle. Will come back again!
I booked an appointment with Lily for a nail repair. I will try to keep this brief. She was extremely rude and disrespectful. She was 15 minutes late for my appointment, which in turn made me late getting back to work. Her tools were not cleaned, she herself was dirty and unkempt and her overall lack of professionalism is what made me walk out before allowing her to complete the service. Because I was not happy with her “service” and requested her to soak my nails off rather than ripping them off with a cuticle trimmer, she went back and forth with me to the point where I ended up stopping the service from continuing. she gave me the finger and told me not to come back, I responded with the same disrespect to her at which point the receptionist stepped in and apologized for her behavior. I certainly will not return to this establishment and I really hope management removes this lady from the store as her behavior in the workplace was unacceptable. If you have the option to go elsewhere, jump on it!
Got a nail infection from this place- I got my nails done here twice in a row after moving to the neighborhood and after a removal (at this same place) I found that a number of my nails had major discoloration & I now have to go to the doctor to make sure I can treat it properly. This has never happened to me before & I have found through research that this happens due to unsanitary equipment & practice by nail techs.I wish I checked reviews before so that I know others had this type of experience & avoid this whole situation. I will not be going back, the place looks nice but its poorly managed... just sharing my experience so others know they could end up in bad situations from going to splendor too
The staff was very polite and accommodating. They also did a very high quality job on my nails. Typically, even with gel, I have chipping happening within a week. I am working on week three and my nails still look awesome!!
Gracious staff, good service for both men and women. Be sure to make an appt.
Mimi did a great job! My nails are very sensitive and she took great care of them. Highly recommend!
Okay, location, location, location! What does that mean? Really, folks? Price, price and price! In this case, you get what you pay for and some; good service. Due to this pandemic, prices have been cut by about $10 may few more depending on the service you need. In my case, I first had my feet and nails done. She had to go through a year of no attention on my feet and nails. WOW, are my feet, hands and nail breathing with a fabulous color on them (settled gold). Great work Tina!Moving on it has a salon on the other side where black sistas are holding it down. Providing great service to all ethnic group including white folks (lol). My stylist, beautician is Janice she turn this run down 60 year birthday girl to a Stallion (look out world I am coming (smile)). I digress the sistas enjoy, like and do their craft well. Go check them out - be you black, white or purple - you will walk out with a smile and/or a very satisfied customer.Back to when you walk into the door someone well acknowledge you it is a tag team up in there. Someone leaves the front desk to handle other things, they have each other covered. Job get done well in this establishment. Rock on ladies and one male who does nails and feet well. I warn you prices are want you pay for up in there (medium-high) and that is a good thing!! Rock on Splendor!! Yes, I am coming back will need my nails, feet, and hair done again! Thank you!! I truly appreciate what you guys do. Keep up the great positive work flow!!!I almost forgot the manager is honest, open with positive vibes who also enjoy wants she does!!
This place is gorgeous and the people are friendly, kind and very respectful to their customers. They really care about their customers and I didnt wait long. I love everything about this place and will be coming back soon to get my daughter a full body wax. Forgot to mention they do everything you want and need to look beautiful 😃 She really loves her fingers and toes done 😊
Lilys has been my nail tech since August. Funny that I even have a nail tech, to begin with, we quickly became close friends. But in short, Lily has gone above and beyond to make sure the shape, quality, and care of my nails are A1 and that I am left satisfied every time I leave her store. She has an eye for making sure I am happy each step of the way, and if anything were to go left then lily has quickly rectified it. She is flexible to any requests I make in regards to color, design, and even nail shape. (my taste can be described as quirky at best) lily has always been open-minded to rise to the occasion and leave me with flawless execution. On top of that in this turbulent time of COVID, Lily and her staff make sure to keep in mind proper sanitization and social distancing rules, where you are never close to the patron.
I’ve visited multiple times with mixed experiences. On some occasions I’ve been very pleased, but on multiple occasions I have left disappointed. On my most recent visit, I received a dip manicure and regular pedicure. I selected a color for my dip nails and asked the technician to find a somewhat close match for my toes. He found a gray that was several shades darker than the silver I selected for my nails but I thought it was fine. In the end, as my nails were near final stages in the correct dip color, the tech painted a shellac in the much darker color on my nails with the intent of matching the color to my toes. He did not communicate this before hand. I can see the misunderstanding, but would have preferred much better communication. Further, the work was sloppy and I had dipping powder left on the skin under my fingers (Which is the correct pale gray that I selected - much different from the darker gray for reference).
Karen did an amazing job with my balayage/hair color fix. Amazing Keratin as well. Best Ive ever had.
Not only is the decor comfy and breath taking, the staff is personable and the prices are comfortable.
I had an amazing experience of hair Art from Karen Nelson, she is the best I’ve ever ran into on this random visit. She is very nice person to talk to while getting my hair done and I can tell you i wasn’t bored, I was so focused on how personal how everything was set up .. I’ve never been in a salon before, so it was pretty cool experience for my first time and I was so happy once I saw the results ! I was like wow ! Talking about a makeover “ I looked like I can be in the cover magazine ! Lol “ Karen is her name ! Yup !! I’ll let it be heard she’s the best ! Professional level is Epic ! I’ll be definitely be back to see her ! Thanks Karen !
TERRIBLE customer service and bad quality of work.
I picked this place for proximity to where I live and I’m glad I did. I’ve gotten my nails done twice and they do excellent work. I also got my first Brazilian wax here. The lady was super comforting and explained everything - I felt as comfortable as one can when doing that! Loved the result!
I can’t remember the last time I had a nail technician who actually cared about doing a great job and making the customer happy. Chris showed extra effort to make sure my nails looked perfect. I was impressed.
Three of us went. They did a decent job on my toes (but we got the reflexology and it was lacking). The chairs didn’t really vibrate or massage. My friend’s toenail polish came off (like slide off) before we even left (even after ample drying).Doubt we will go back.
Walked in after 4 on a Sunday and was able to be served right away. The pedicure was lovely and had a scrub and lotion massage. Only reason I give a 4 is because the color options for nail polish is limited and not very organized in the display. It would be nice to have the display color organized.
Honestly, I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with dc nail salons regarding customer service so my standards are not too high. I’m just happy to get service at this point. It’s best to book in advance because they are not staffed for the demand they receive in this location. I watched them tell at least 10 people to come back after 4 on a Sunday (why not just put an appointment in?).My first time here they would not give me a foot scrub with my pedicure because I was a walk in and they said I’d need an appointment for that. I guess they had squeezed me in.I got a gel manicure and it’s lovely. They lady next to me got powder nails and they did a good job on her too.The worst part is really the customer service. They don’t seem to value the customers because the demand is so high that they don’t need to.
Chris and Lily always do a great job.
I think a lot of these reviews are unfair or maybe they were just posted when they had just opened. I have now been here three times, for three gel manicures and a pedicure. The pedicure was one of the best ones I’ve had - extremely relaxing, great leg massages, and the technician took her time. My manicures still look nearly perfect 3 weeks later except for growing out! Definitely recommend.
Unfortunately, a lot of the negative reviews seem to be from when the salon first opened. There are usually growing pains with any new venture. Very glad I decided to give them a second, third, fourth (etc) chance! Karen is awesome and Lilly gives a wonderful mani/pedi.Great location, wonderful selection of services, relaxing atmosphere and complimentary mimosas/champagne/water and cookies. Definitely recommend!
I stopped in, as it is a block away, to have my eyebrows waxed. The woman at the reception desk walked away and when she came back she said that there was a wait. I let her know that I could only wait a few minutes. She went to speak with the other woman again and when she came back she said she could do them for me right then. As she was finishing my eyebrows she let me know that she was a hair stylist in McLean and that she was just helping her friend who owned the salon. I was horrified when she handed me the mirror and my eyebrows were completely uneven. It is more than three weeks later and I am still growing them out. I would absolutely never go back.
I rushed here on my way home to get a simple manicure. Seeing that they closed at 9pm I wanted to arrive before 830. I arrived around 815, and upon entering. A snooty host asked me how he could help me. Then proceeded to tell me that they were closed.I said well it says online and on your door that you close at 9pm. He responded that well we close at 8 nowNo explanation. No apology. At the very least they need to update their information. It STILL says 9pm. Additionally there should have been some effort to remedy their error. Wont return.
Writing poor reviews isn’t even my style.. BUT I have to. Save yourself the money. It’s a 3 min walk from my place and even in the most desperate of times I’ll never come back. Two different people did my pedicure, both hurt me by either cutting my toe skin or filing everything EXCEPT the actual nail. My heel skin was barely buffed, it feels worse than when I came in. I had to cut my own big toe nail because home girl just couldn’t seem to get it right. They very clearly wanted me to leave because it was close to closing time. No one seemed to k ow who was going to take me when I came in even though I had an appointment... then on the way out pressured me to tip. And yes I’m here drying my feet while I’m writing this. Never. Again.
Do not get your eyebrows done here. I have very simple eyebrows that typically any other salon does a great job. Started to do my eyebrows then he put wax on my lip before I realized what he was doing and I said no and asked for him to take it off and he waxed it instead, only one spot, then tried to charge me for it. Then told me he was done with my eyebrows when he didn’t even do the middle, said he “forgot” when I asked him. As well as no trimming/tweezing to clean up following the wax.
Lily is great! She gave me the best facial of my life and I really value her honesty. She tells you what you need, even if its a less expensive service, she never takes advantage of her clients and is exceptional at what she does
I used to be a regular but this place has completely gone down hill the past few months. Now my SNS needs to be fixed after a couple of days. Definitely pricy for what quality youre getting.
Nice place. Understanding people. Offers full service for nails or hair. Will definitely come back again!
Forget about the nail section. They have more to offer! Their hair stylists are Phenomenal! Karen Nelson and Janice know how to do some hair!!!
Very efficient and did exactly what I asked for
The professionalism is amazing. Keep up the great work
Very nice staff and the whole experience was good, at a reasonable price, clean, offered a full service of options, and gives you a drink. I wish it did brow-threading. I look forward to going back every month or so.
I walked in and they greeted me happily until I asked how much to remove my acrylic nails. They all of a sudden were “booked for the day”. I actually wanted them removed and then I was going to request a SNS manicure. Needless to say I walked up the street to the Wharfs nail salon and won’t ever consider giving them a second chance.
Really nice and new salon but they are using old nail polish. I like the place and the job they do but they REALLY need new nail polish.
Excellent pampering and ok painting for stellar pricing. My fiance and I went in after a 10 day trip in the Mojave desert. Our hands and feet were in pretty rough shape. The manipedis we got were good. His (without polish) were 5 star. Great pampering, lotion, and grinding of his callouses. The painting for me was just ok. Id go back for a pedicure, but I can do a better job on my hands (bubbly, streaky polish and polish left on the cuticles).
The false eyelashes had TOO much glue and were clearly in clumps (not what you pay for). There was also some glue on the bottom lashes (when I only asked for the top lashes), she did NOT have proper glue removal gel/liquid so we CUT the glue out.Do yourself a favour and go somewhere where they use higher end material and have a PLAN for removing glue afterwards.
I went to the salon for a trim just one inch off my hair and when it’s done my full head of curly hair was gone. I like short hair but this was mediocre and not in the mood for it.My dream hair for this summer is Ruined.I like the hair dresser so much but, I can’t trust her to cut my hair again.Disappointed!!!
Like everyone else, i WANTED to love this place. But it is so disorganized, and so understaffed. The receptionists, both the male and the female, just look at you in confusion when you walk in, and all the techs seem very unaware of what they are supposed to be doing at any given time. I will say, I have gotten the manager/head lady/person who takes control in the chaos, and my nails both times have come out great, but it takes forever, and theres no guarantee of consistency.Really really bummed this place cant get it together.
Lilly is simply the best
Unsure about all the negative reviews. I also live right around the corner from this salon, and have been 3 or 4 times since they opened for pedicures, one manicure, and one haircut. Every time Ive gone in, Ive been greeted politely by the host and helped right away. Im not always offered coffee (or wine!), but usually. Perhaps its just that Im not usually in a big hurry?Sitting through a whole mani-pedi is pretty dull stuff, but theyve always come out nice. My haircut, which was last-minute, came out fine, though I prefer my usual stylist. I took off a star because I do find the technicians a little overzealous in trimming cuticles.
Great place, friendly staff, I’ve been for several manicures and a pedicure and I have always been pleased with the results.
Had an ok experience during the time of my manicure and pedicure but got a nail infection soon after my appointment at Splendor Nails. The skin on my pinky finger is now extremely raw and the area underneath of my nail is red and extremely tender, not to mention it hasn’t healed in two weeks. Not the experience I expected to have and I will not be returning.
Love going here! Always great service.
******UPDATE*******I was the first person to leave a positive review of this place. I went to this nail salon 1-3 times a month and brought additional customers here. I made an appointment today at 4:30 for pedicures for 2 people at 6:30. I received 2 back to back calls at 6 asking if we would be coming for our 6:30 appointment and assured them we would be there, to which the woman said- great, see you then! No warning of any issues, etc. I arrived a little early and my friend arrived about 5 minutes late. We sat in the waiting area for about 10 minutes before being sat. My chair was not working properly (at least 3 of them aren’t and the only other pedicure customer who is apparently a regular agreed and helped facilitate a move) and was moved to a chair away from my friend. Her pedicure started immediately while I waited. They were clearly understaffed, which I can understand, but it was not communicated to me that my tech would be the same as the person doing my friends pedicure. I sat in my chair and chatted with my friend (without anyone checking in) while she was getting her pedicure and at 7:30 it was time for mine to begin. I asked for an additional beverage and told the tech my water was cold and asked for hot water. There was clearly a communication barrier and she added cold water, told her no, hot, and she started getting tools out and tried to begin my pedicure. After much back and forth, I worked with the tech and got hot water and asked to speak to a manager. We were both fully prepared to sit there until my pedicure was completed as well but when the manager came over, she immediately started telling me there was some emergency with another tech and their girlfriend (I think?) and that’s why they were understaffed. This was without greeting me or asking what my concern was. I told her I don’t need an excuse or explanation but if I hadn’t needed to get a pedicure done and had made an appointment only 2 hours prior, I would have left if I knew this would be the situation. She told the tech to stop working on me (after she removed polish from 2 of my toes) and said- you want to leave then? I said no, I would like to get a pedicure I would have just liked some communication during my hour long wait that this situation was what it was. She started yelling at me and walked away so I said - ok, I’m done. I started getting together while my friend went to pay for her service. During this time, the manager started crying and complaining to other customers (and I’m assuming apologizing to them.)The tech apologetic as we were walking out. This place has great decor but is not at all a relaxing environment. There is no communication, the chairs aren’t all functioning but they’ll put you in them knowing that, and the managers customer service is awful. They started off strong (yet understaffed) but I honestly don’t know how this is a sustainable business with their customer service the way it is.
Terrible. Went in for an eyebrow wax and the lady did not pluck or trim the brows after the wax. They were noticeably in need of plucking and trimming. She seemed in a rush to get back to other business instead of focusing on the task at hand. I left having to return home and finish the job. Have never had a wax experience like this one. Will not return.
I was so excited for this salon to open. It’s a 4 minute walk from my house! Man, am I disappointed. My mom & I went in yesterday and the gel manicure I got is already lifting. The pedi also needs a repair - it did before I left the shop but having already been there for 3 hours (!!), I just wanted to leave. Multiple customers voiced complaints while I was there and no one seemed particularly pleased with their results. I’m giving it one star because of the facility itself - it’s new, clean, nice, comfortable, spacious, well lit etc. If/when they hire more experienced staff, I would love to return as a regular customer.
Terrible customer service. You tell Rick how you want your nails done and he ignores you. I went in for a regular fill and he did SNS dip instead. He said it was better. All of my nails have cracked or have broken since, and it has only been a week.
I am not a person that write reviews, I am the silent disappointed customer the one that goes away and never comes back but I honestly felt so disappointed and upset that I decided to spend my time writing this.I was a walk in, was told to wait 30 minutes or come back even thought I was first told I could immediately get a pedicure. No issues until than, I got back at 11:15am set down and the pedicure person was talking on the phone while doing my toes, she did a horrible painting job that actually when I got there my 2 weeks old pedicure looked better. Fine I can leave with it. Move to the other table, still she is replying her messages, did a very poor job on the manicure until I mentioned the cuticles were not done properly. Let’s not even talk about the horrible gel color. Even myHusband mentioned it was a poor job and I should never go back.I could look over something but the terrible mani and pedi along with that everyone was offered a drink (water, mimosa, etc), I was totally ignored and thankfully I had my own water with me.Even though the place is in a perfect location to me I prefer going back to driving 10 minutes to another salon than to go back and being treated in this horrible way.
BeBe did a wonderful job- full set Ombré
I finally found someone I want to keep going back to. Jenny did an amazing job!
I simply LOVE this place !! The staff is amazing Rose, Karen, and the owner Lilly are the BEST.. The service are great
Annie gave me a great hair cut!
Im so close to this spot. Excited to have a nail shop close. First time i went, had to wait 20 mins longer than told. Service was ok. Nothing special. Went back again, and was told 25 mins. Waited 1 hr and finally gave up. I understand being short staffed but dont lie. On my way out the door, wasnt even spoken to. No apology . I will continue to go to Golden Nails on H st.
I really wanted to like this place because its close to home. However I gave it two tries and am done. First time, had an appointment but waited 30 minutes. My SNS manicure chipped after a week, which has never happened to me anywhere else. Second time, had an appt for mani/pedi. Despite appt, waited 20 minutes after pedi for someone who could do SNS. Then the technician rushed me through: didnt touch my cuticles, so after a week the manicure already looks grown out; as soon as nails were dry, she said I was done: no lotion, no hand massage, nothing. When you add in that Splendor is slightly pricier than other nearby salons, I wont be back.
I want to give them 0 stars but it wouldn’t let me. I got my nails done Friday 8/10, yesterday 8/12 two nails broke from my scratching my leg. Another today 8/14 while putting on a shirt. Horrible quality.
They color my hair the wrong color.
Very professional and courteous
Lily is the best!
Excellent haircut and nails
Upscale, classy, atmospheric.
