Ive been getting laser treatment and maintenance on off for about 6 years now and it works and makes my life that much easier. If youve never tried laser and are skeptical, give this one a call? I went there to do laser hair removal and what I can tell is that this place is amazing. The staff is friendly and always have the information you need. Sharon explained all the laser process in details and was very professional. I can already see some results. Also the price is unbeatable. I recommend it to anyone.

Don’t come here if your hair is lightened or you’re getting it lightened. I came for a color correction but Mikel did not listen to me, did not give me the actual results that I wanted, or treat my hair gently at all.I wanted the ends of my hair to be the same color as my roots. For that I needed to bleach my regrowth and lighten my brassy ends. The only thing Mikel did was bleach and tone my roots. I think he tried to remove the orange color from my ends when washing out the toner but it was not nearly enough. I mentioned the color was not even to him after but he said that it was because I had to wash the toner out before it could be fully applied so it just *couldn’t be helped* and he started blow drying my hair. I am not exactly sure why he thought that my *scalp* becoming irritated by the toner meant that the *ends* of my hair (which are a good 9 inches away) couldn’t be worked on afterwards. I said to him again that my hair was still not evenly colored and he said something about it becoming brighter if I used the purple shampoo they sold. Interesting because purple shampoo is supposed to be for maintaining toned hair- not finishing the job.But you know, disappointing results I can deal with. What I can’t deal with is how rough they were. Even if they had given me perfectly evenly colored hair I would not come back because of this.I do not have very sensitive skin. I do not know why my scalp got so irritated when it’s been fine the first and second times I bleached my hair by myself. I told Mikel during the consultation that my hair lifts quickly, but he must not have believed me and used a stronger developer or something because my scalp was sensitive even until the next day. If I hadn’t washed it again it might have lasted longer. He told me it was because they used organic/vegetable based products, but if those cause clients’ skin to become so sensitive why does he use them?Add to this the way the comb was tugged through my hair (very naturally tangled) and the laughably small amount of heat protectant used when blow drying my hair, and my hair was in very bad shape at the end of the night.What especially ground my gears though was when my mother was asking Mikell why the appointment was so expensive, Mikell showed her my fried and dead hair and said “look how healthy it looks!” in order to insist that the price was indeed fair. This was the first time my hair had ever come out in a clump on a hair brush. He had to use hair spray to smooth down all the new breakage at my crown just a few minutes earlier.Trust me. If you need your hair done find a different place, or even just do it yourself. Both are better options.Edit: I would not complain about the price had my ends actually been lightened. I accepted the initial price with the understanding that it would be difficult to even out hair that was basically blonde at the root and orange at the ends. I hadn’t expected that he would basically only work on the roots.

Andy is the guy to go too I recommend him very much, He cleans your hair very nice and his cuts are always on point and he always makes sure he gets you right and very professional. I have been coming to Mikels for years. They give high quality haircuts at a great price. When I moved to the city I tried to find a barber in the Lincoln Park area and paid triple the price for terrible haircuts, so I learned my lesson and now I always drive 30 minutes to Skokie twice a month for the perfect haircut every time. All of their barbers are great and you won’t be disappointed when you come here.

Ive been coming to this hair salon for over 10 years, even before they extended and remodeled this location. Great and skillful people, my favorite ones are David and Mike. I drive all the way from OHare neighborhood to get the best haircut. Ive tried in my area a couple of times but it didnt work for me. Give it a try you wont be disappointed!

After moving here from LA, I was in need of a good barber. My friend referred me to Mikel’s barber shop where I met Dani. He has exceeded my expectations with each time I come in for a cut. I am beyond impressed with his attitude and his expertise when it comes to hairstyles. I am very picky about my hair and Dani always manages to get me leaving here happy.

I only trust Mikel with my hair!! He is simply amazing, from hair cuts, to hair color to balayage or highlights, he does it all and does it well!! He has literally fixed my hair color perfectly when another salon ruined it!! 10000 percent recommend!!

It was such a rude and not professional place. My girl was only 14 years old went with a friend. They suggested black hair color, cost 65 dollars and clipped hair extensions, it was too wide and big for her head, they should have suggests that was not for a kid, and not a returnable, but sold it to her for over 100 dollars anyway. Called the salon but he was so rude and unprofessional. Can’t even return the product or help out at least. Terrible place

Ive been going here for years and I have been more than satisfied with each and every haircut. Its quite a professional and friendly place with walk ins and appointment options. I personally come in for walk ins and I know that my haircut will be done well with each barber. However, Matthew and David mostly cut my hair. With the COVID situation, the establishment makes sure each person is safe; you can wait outside, sit inside with social distancing enforced, and they provide hand sanitizer on site.

I highly recommend Mikels hair salon! I bleached my own hair during the quarantine and needed the color corrected (aka It was orange!). I googled a salon near me and took a chance. I am so happy with my hair and honestly that does not happen often. It looks absolutely amazing. I have naturally dark hair so it is tricky to make it blonde. Mikel, the owner, really listened to what I wanted, gave me different options, spent a lot of time discussing this with me and never seemed impatient. And the result was exactly what we discussed. He is a real expert. And his assistant Nina is also amazing. I am so glad I found Mikels. I will be a regular for sure!btw theyre taking the utmost care during the Pandemic. Everyone wears masks and they are constantly cleaning. You will feel very safe.

Good experience!! I went in for a hair cut with Mikel. Right after I signed in, his assistant Nina offered coffee and took me to the back to wash my hair. Mikel asked me few questions and got right to it. He is amazing! He knew exactly what he was doing! He transformed me completely! And since it was my first time getting a service there he gave me shampoo and conditioner from his product line. Total worth it!

I went to this place . I needed to get a layer hair cut! Mikels staff was straightening my hair for 45 minutes and finally Mikel (owner of this salon) showed up and put just 5-6 minutes into cutting my long hair! My hair ended up being UNEVEN when I got home and noticed it! During cutting, I asked him to do that and not to do this and he doesnt seem to be professional! I wasnt satisfied with his work and I was charged for $60 by working on my hair for just 5-6 minutes and making it uneven and it wasnt look like a LAYER hair cut. I asked me to do this and not to do that but still my hair wasnt cut well! Surprisingly he OFFERED me one hair conditioner and one shampoo in EXCHANGE of giving him 5 START review! That was the time I realized that the reason of this high rate of his salon! I gave 5 start that moment and he gave those shampoos and then I edited the review .Now I wanted to let you know that the rating is FAKE ! I got the worst hair cut ever!
