The first car we rented smelled horrible like cigarettes. We initially were going to tough it out because we had waited in line for over an hour just for this car (not the staffs fault, a difficult customer was ahead of us and they were obviously short staffed). About 20 minutes into our drive the smell is so overwhelming we decided this wasnt going to work and the next morning went to a different AVIS location to switch the car out. The staff there was super helpful and quick. We were in and out in 10 minutes with minimal disruption of our vacation. Overall good experience, but please- clean the cars better if people have been smoking in them.

Went to Florida and figured wed splurge and get a convertible. Reservation was for 6pm, car was not ready till almost 7:30pm. We were told the car was extra dirty and they needed time to clean it. I appreciate that they wanted us to have a clean car, but Im at a loss as to why the car wasnt cleaned before my scheduled pickup? We were told to not worry about bringing it back with a full tank as compensation for spending an hour and a half sitting around, but nothing was given to me in writing so I filled it up rather than fight with anyone and explain what happened on pick up.I usually use National or Enterprise but Avis had the best deal for a week long rental.Car was great and in great condition, but the rental desk was understaffed and overwhelmed with all the customers arriving for a rental car at 6pm. Ill likely not use Avis again as the savings on the week long rental didnt make up for wasting so much time sitting at the airport.

We arrived to pick up the rental at 9:30am, and were taken care of in a timely manner. Richard explained everything very well and is one of if not the best customer service representative I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. He is kind, personable and truly seems to care about people and his job. I will rent from Avis every time I come to SFB just to possibly get to chat with him. The rental is awesome and price is great, but his service is how you build loyalty. Thanks Richard!

Not the 1st time to be charged extra. Car visibly returned with full tank, scanner didnt wanna gv reasons for xtra charge. went to window, > 5 mins, hv to explain, n was told it was for fuel. ?? Hed told Scanner the Tank is FULL. She said it was for Fuel.10mins later, she said she will credit the over-charge . Seat vy dirty. Car wasnt cleaned, n sanitized ? (pic shld hv been taken)No one on lot.

I dont remember the persons name that took care of us when we came to pick up our car, but he was extremely professional, nice and positive (not grumpy like most attendants at car rental offices). I have not run across someone like this in the car rental business in a long time. It was so refreshing. It is because of this individual we will come back to Avis. The only reason I gave you a 9 for one of the last questions, is because it was 3am when we dropped off the car, and there was not anybody there so we dropped off the keys in a box like the maintenance man told us to do.

Watch very closely what you are signing!Was asked about unlimited toll coverage which I ended up opting in, and they added another charge on there without asking me (an unrelated optional coverage). By the time I realized it was too late!Cost me an additional $130+ that they havent refunded and are saying I agreed to. Dont let my mistake become yours!

Car was in excellent condition and workers at both the pickup and drop-off counter were prompt and friendly. Location is extremely convenient, right across the street from baggage claim. We would definitely rent from the Orlando Sanford International Airport Avis again!

Best price on 15 passenger vans. Super fast express check-in with avis preferred. I did pay in advance. Van was a new model nice and clean I did bring my own ezpass which helped me to save since Florida does have a lot of small tolls when traveling on the expressway. The return was fast I parked the van and wrote my gas level, mileage and parking lot space number down then handed the information to receptionist. It was a breeze. Later received email my return was complete. Avis is directly across the street from the flight landing and departures. A short walk. I will definitely use Avis again.

I rented in advance. When i got to the airport the staff was very uncaring and unprofessional and acted like I was a bother. I also had to put down 250.00 more in security for damages and possible Tolls ( which is totally fine) but its been 7 days and I have not been able to get ANYONE to tell me why i have not been refunded my 250.00 back to my card. I have rented from Hertz, Budget and Enterprise several times and have never had this experience. I will NEVER rent from Avis again.

They left my family with 3 young children at the airport at 2:30 in the morning with no one at the counter, and no hotels available near by. We were able to get a car from Alamo for the night to make the 50 mile drive to our rental house, and got in at 4:30am. We returned the next morning at 8:00am, and they would not credit us for the day they were not there, and they did not have the vehicle type we had already paid for. We had rented a large SUV and all they could give us was a mini van. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a rental car company. It is unbelievable that your company would leave 3 young children stranded in the middle of nowhere at 2:30 in the morning.

The experience was neutral. There were long lines when we arrived to pick up the vehicle. The vehicle had more marks, dents, scratches, etc. than noted on the inital paper work. I returned to the desk with photos to update the car condition sheet. The interior was filthy and even contained items/documents from previous renters. With or without extra pandemic precautions, the vehicle should be clean. Toll package was over priced. Return box system was helpful for airport drop off.

Had a hiccup with my reservation, it was my fault. But it cost me $800 in addition to resolve. $200 More that the original rental. $1400 in total. Completely outrageous.Edit: Emailed customer service as requested, no response.... called and got hung up on...Edit 2: After the last update, Avis sent an email response to my request. They reduced the cost of the rental and will be sending me a partial refund for the additional cost.

I was so surprised at the speedy service at Avis. Especially during a shortage of rentals right now. The staff was knowledgeable and super fast and friendly. She was able to get us into a almost new rental for cheaper than we were originally quoted from different company. Will use this rental agency again.

On the way back to Orlando from Miami service needed light or check engine light came on. I also was informed when picking up the car that there would be a hold placed on the bank funds to guarantee payment, however, approximately a day or 2 after returning the car I received a mobile notification stating my account was in the negative over $900 due to Avis and I still have yet to hear anything from them to to resolve this issue

Told if sand in the car after going to beach, would be charged a fee. Back driver side tire was only 24 psi. They were out of Elite SUV (ford explorer) and asked if we wanted a Camaro, oh by the way, $15 per day charge or we can have a Toyota RAV4, which she said was actually more expensive than the explorer, but we could have it for the same price. Then she said we could have the Camaro for $10 / day more. Returning the car you have to go back to the counter and wait in line.

From beginning to end it has been a nightmare renting from avis. Car was dirty. Mirrors didnt work. The rep didnt do a walkthrough of car before giving it to us. There were scratches and dents not noted and asked me to sign prior to checking vehicle. They overcharged me for my rental and they didnt even have my rental car available!! They asked me to upgrade for a charge! and the car didnt even have wiper fluid!! Terrible experience!

There is a lack of consistency among the different locations. Some locations text me my car information and others require me to wait in line and go through all kinds of paperwork. I also think sometimes the prices are rather expensive.

I will never rent from Avis again. The only reason why I rented from them was because enterprise had no rentals available. The price that they give you ends up being something completely different after you return the rental and get charged an extra 300 dollars when my rental agreement shows different. I called customer service and the lady that was helping me hung up after I was giving her the breakdown of my charges that is being shown on the receipt. Stay the hell away from Avis

We checked in to get car waited 35 minutes for some one to show up at desk, when we got handed the keys from people who had just pulled in their receipt was folded up with key, We drove to our hotel and discovered the car was so low we had to roll out of the car, tried to reach avis for 3 hours the first day then another 5 hours the following day trying to get some help, the one time they answered the phone we got disconnected, which never happened, then to top it off i forgot to take my handi cap tag off and thought you might call and let me know it, but that hasnt happened either since you cant get thru to you guys except to rent a car I figure Noway ill get a response to my tag

I prepaid for a Ford Mustang. I arrived at 1pm, and there was no Mustang. I was told to call customer service. I did so, and still 20 minutes later nothing was done. I was told there was no way to get the car that I had paid for. I reluctantly took a different model, a VW Jetta, as I was stuck at the airport in Orlando with no way to leave. This was not a good choice for a car. Rode terribly, low power and the door locks would not work correctly. The brakes were horrendous, I came to a stop and then they would continue to roll after making an initial stop. It almost made me crash a dozen times. To say the least, I am not impressed and am not happy with how customer service treated me.

STAY AWAY UNTIL THEY GET NEW and HONEST MANAGEMENT. We made reservations months in advance, paid the deposit, and had email confirmations about our booking. Our flight was delayed seven hours but we called Avis first thing in the morning to let them know our flight number and that we would be arriving 4:30 instead of 9:30. They said no problem. When it was our turn at the desk, the manager, Vanessa, told us we were late and they no longer had a car for us. We reminded her that we called earlier. She changed her tune a little, asked for our credit card and with that in hand she told us our reservation was for “international” people and that we didn’t read the fine print and the price is therefore tripled. We are intelligent people. We read fine print. She lied because she wanted us to pay more during their busy season. We asked her to produce the fine print because it was not on our reservation confirmation. She told us to call the third party and tell them they are scamming us. I said, “You are scamming us. We have a confirmed Avis rental at this price and at this location.” She refused to give us a car and threatened to call security. While we were on the phone with corporate, she cancelled our reservation without our permission which made it difficult for corporate to help us when we called them. This inhumane person left a family of four stranded late in the evening without a car, food, or water to even take our medications because she wanted us to pay more money instead of honoring a contractual agreement. We have used this third party to rent cars and hotels and have never had a problem. This was our first and last time renting with Avis.

When I made the reservation almost 2 months ago I got a rate that when I got to the airport and picked up the car I had to pay a higher rate than agreed on. And the representative didnt tell me there is no a $250 deposit that Ive not had to pay in the past when flying round trip. When making a budget and having to pay over $300 really makes a huge dent in the possible plans and your wallet. Similar thing happened to me 3 months ago. 2 strikes and Im done. Cheaper is not always better. I Will NOT be renting from Avis again. Will go back to Enterprise. Far better customer service and customer appreciation.

Rented a car from this avis last week. Was my first time renting from avis(normally rent from enterprise). The people working the counter were so helpful. Very nice and will answer all of your questions. If you are there for a week I suggest getting the unlimited toll pass it made driving around florida so easy. I will definitely rent from them again.

I booked a reservation through a third party. That was fine but when I came to pick up the car is when it all went downhill. So I arrive at sanford airport and had a one day rental for a funeral in St Pete so they told me my rental was ready I got to it and it was full of water in the cupholders and dog hair everywhere so they told me wait a few minutes and they’ll get me a new rental car so I said fine I waited 30 minutes and the Rent-A-Car they gave me was worse so I told them about it they told me to wait again and I just took it with me because I have to go and they were so rude! if I can give them a minus star I would

Did not get the rental I rented and got tossed a left over vehicle that I didnt pick out. Had to deal with customer service for 2 days over the phone and got no where. Had to run back and fourth 50 miles 1 way to the air port to see if they had my Challenger-RT. After wasting a lot of time on vacation I finally got one after two and half days. So was not too happy about it, very frustrating. And the car stunk and had a strong smell of Marijuana and was not appropriate. I had to go and buy air fresheners to ignore the smell and I did not want to get pulled over by cops to get checked incase something happened.

By far the worst experience ever. I booked online and at the time for my pickup I went inside to pick up my vehicle and was told I had to wait 24hours from the time I booked a rental. Well if that was true why does it let me book online for that time. Then to make matters worst the next day I come back to pick up my reservation and was given a full size vehicle instead of a sports vehicle which is what I booked online. They didn’t refund me any charges for downgrading my rental on their own instead told me today prices went up but if you guys would’ve had my vehicle ready the day I booked it, then I wouldn’t have to pay for additional charges for you guys downgrading my vehicle. But because my address is local and I wasn’t coming off a flight, they showed me no respect and treated me like I was less than such. I absolutely will never book from Sanford airport again. They are very judgmental, careless and rude. If you don’t have a flight and live local, they are going to treat you any kind of way as if you shouldn’t qualify to book a rental with them. I hate I had to experience such thing because I am a preferred member with Avis and when I book from any where else and yes Ive been everywhere and always use Avis first because I was always showed respect until I went to Sanford airport but now it makes me want to use Hertz or Enterprise instead.

Awful customer service. Booked a rental about a week in advance for a red eye flight. Called ahead and spoke with the manager - Vanessa - who assured me that if the flight was delayed that someone would wait until the flight lands based on the information provided about my flight in my reservation. Because of this reassuring guarantee, I proceeded to book with Avis.Our flight was in fact delayed, and I called ahead again to confirm that someone would be there. I was informed by Scott that he would not wait and that he was “instructed by his manager Vanessa” that he had to leave at midnight.The problem with this is - knowing the nature of flights and the frequency in which airlines experience delays - if this office has a policy of shutting down at midnight, I should have been informed. I called every other rental location at the Sanford airport, and they all stay “until the last flight lands” - however by that time they were already all fully booked.Had I known about this policy, and the gross lack of customer service, I would have booked with Enterprise, since I have never had a negative experience with them.Worst of all, when I called back to see if Scott could find it in his heart to stay since we had no way back home, he encouraged me to have a friend pick me up, or to wait until 7am for the office to reopen. If I had a friend to pick me up, why would I have booked a rental reservation? And in what world would I sit at the customer service desk for 7 hours waiting on them to reopen?I will continue to call corporate until a formal complaint is submitted. This is not only horrible customer service but also awful leadership on the part of the manager. Very disappointed and will not be doing business with Avis because of this awful experience.

The worst service I’ve ever received from a car rental agency. When I booked my car I was told that if my flight was delayed, someone would wait for me to pick up my vehicle. While at the terminal my flight was delayed, when I called to double check I was told no one would wait for me to land and I would not be able to get the vehicle I reserved. I even called corporate and was treated with complete disrespect and given no solutions. This is sad because I have rented with Avis a lot in the past. From now on we will be going with Enterprise.

I reserved a car 1 mth in advance. It was almost midnight when we were picking up. We were told all you had was 15 person van. We had to drive 2 hrs that turned into 3 hrs to get where we were going. I feel my car was given to someone else who did not prepare. I feel it was also because we were going 1 way. But when were quarantined a car. We expect a car. Not 15 person van.

Excellent customer service goes a long way. The facility was excellent and I had the car in less than 10 minutes. It was very efficient. I can see for all other customer before me. It means it is a policy not an individual case.Th car I received was a Ford Escape. It had two things I did not like. The car itself has a feature that makes the car goes off after a few seconds stopped. I did not like that feature at all. It feels like you lost all the power. Very uncomfortable for me! If another car hits you from behind you are doomed!.Additionally, the car had a funny noise when accelerating, it was scary and uncomfortable at the same time. I wish I had been assigned a GMC Terrain like the one I have rented from Avis Nebraska.

We reserved a 12 passe ger van because we had a large group and we were making several fairly long distance day trips. When we arrived to pick up the van there was not one available and were given two vehicles....which therefore meant double the gas, double the tolls and double the fee per day for the e pass. This is not acceptable. If you reserve a vehicle you expect what you reserved!

The car was not cleaned very well. We requested a full size vehicle to fit two golf bags but were given a hybrid car that could only fit one golf bag. We requested to prepay for the gas and initialed where told to but it was not drawn up in the contract. We were charged $10 per gallon for this. Pretty disappointed and angry about that. Note: Read the contract and confirm before signing. Decent and good price but because of this experience Avis will be our last choice of car rental company.

The two young ladies working the counter were smiling as I walked up. They were very friendly. When I finished my transaction they handed me the key fab and told me where the car was. I walked around for 10-15 minutes looking, no luck. I walked back in and a young Avis employee named Jenny asked if everything was alright? I told her no, I cant find the car. She immediately said, No problem sir I can help you. She walked outside with me to locate it. It WAS where they said, I was confused. GREAT customer service Jenny! I prepaid for my rental car, which was to include GPS. I waited for over two hours to get the car. This is longer than my flight to Sanford. This is because for some unknown reason the woman at the counter also has to leave the counter to actually get the car, which is offsite and I was told several miles away. The Avis counter line was the only one not moving because of this weird system. When the girl finally showed up with our rental, probably a good 15 minutes or more had passed, she smelt of cigarette smoke and when I said I was sorry she had to work like this, she told me she had been driving around for a bit with our rental on the way back so she could unwind from the stress. I was speechless. I got in the car to program our destination. No GPS. Had to use my phone data for the whole trip. Not looking forward to that bill. I will never use or recommend Avis to anyone.

I flew in on a Saturday and luckily got to the counter ahead of the rush. There was ONE clerk and two people ahead of me. I had already reserved my car ahead of time so I didnt take as long. The line was long when I was done. Then when I found my car, it was a scratched up mess! I was shocked that they would rent me something that bad. Mystery charges for insurance. Told them upfront when i prepaid for the rental i do not want insurance. Told the person at the desk. i do not want insurance. Walked me through everything i needed to sign. When they explained what each section was for, nothing said anything about additional coverage. Drop of the car on time no damages etc. Get a bill for $110 for insurance that they said i approved to be for the car. Dont listen to them when they tell you where to sign. Read it yourself. take all the time in the world you need to. They falsely represented what they were telling me i needed to sign before receiving the car.Called customer service to find out what the charge was for. They rambled through dozens of numbers. Originally, told me to the charge was for gas, then told me the charge was for tax, then told me the charge was for damage, then finally said it was because i signed for additional insurance coverage on the car. I thought everything went really smooth until these garbage additional tack on fees. Will not rent from Avis again.Additional insurance coverage i was scammed into cost 1/3 of of the the car rental itself cost.

A little hiccup in the beginning, not offered the car we wanted. We had to go out to the lot and tell the attendant which one we preferred. But other than that, great customer service, great car and check out was a breeze. Would go with AVIS, again!

We reserved a 7 passenger van 3 months prior, and upon arrival, we were told that there were no vans available.It was during the Christmas holidays, so finding a van at other locations would have been impossible.Avis really didnt seem to care and we were given a smaller SUV AT THE SAME PRICE!!!We have a home in Florida and needed the size of the van and were unable to pick up things we needed for our home as with our group in the vehicle, it made it impossible to put any large items in the back:(We normally rent from Alamo and have never in 10 years have had an issue, so Alamo it is from now on.We will NOT RENT FROM AVIS again and I would caution if you are needing a van, to be aware that you may wind up renting two vehicles to accommodate your group.
