Honestly I am disappointed when I took in my newborn to this clinic. First time I had no choice as hospital was requiring me to take my baby on Sunday and this was the only clinic available. I came in on Sunday, there machine to check jaundice, the battery was dead and the doctor kept trying to send us to another location. Like we have a newborn and we cannot be traveling to different locations. We then came back the next day, turns out my daughters last name was spelled wrong, they had to check her weight again and doctor kept pressuring us to check her jaundice at a different location as it “takes them extra steps” to get all the lab work done. My partner and I switched to a completely different clinic and we will not recommend this clinic for pediatricians to anyone. Let me just add that I am a new parent and I was not provided information that the other clinic I switched to provided me with as in like tips, tricks, educated on what’s normal on the baby and what to expect, etc…
We have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes to be seen. The staff is friendly and Dr. Jenna Tate is wonderful and answers all of our many questions as first time parents. She has made appropriate referrals to physical therapy and a pediatric optometrist that have also been great experiences. My only complaint is the clinic could be cleaner..visible dust in the rooms, scuff marks. Could use a deep cleaning and fresh coat of paint.
I have a special need son who had to have surgery that week but we have to take him in to do a physical and had blood work and 1. They couldn’t get the blood on the 1st try and 2. They had to poke him again and I get a call in the afternoon saying they forgot to put his initials on the bottle so the lab would not run the blood work and now I am having to miss another day of work to take him and he will miss school again due to this. Also because they had such a hard time getting his blood work the first time they are now wanting us to go to the emergency room to have the lab done! I’ve never in the 12 years that my son has been born had to experience this, you had one job to do and the fact that it wasn’t done it goes to question your ability as a nurse! I didn’t have these issues when we were going to shakopee!
All the doctors we have seen are great! Always can get a sick appointment same day which is nice!
Called to get my 7 month old in for an ear infection because his normal clinic was full. They had MULTIPLE appointment times available and told me they would only be willing to see him if we agreed to switch and use them as our primary care clinic. As a pediatrician you should be willing to treat any sick kid. I was completely turned off by this and honestly would have considered switching to the clinic if I got there and liked it. You would think most clinics would accept new patients in hopes of retaining them but because they are only willing to see my son if we switch to their clinic I will not be going there.
We’ve been going to Metro Peds for nearly three years. We always have a positive experience with nurses and doctors. Feel the doctors take time to explain things, and we fully understand what’s going on with our boys. Don’t just feel like they’re talking at us. Easy to schedule and great after-hours nurse line. Definitely recommend!
Dr Tumilty is so great! you can tell she absolutely loves children. My daughter has only been going here for about a year but I havent had any problems. weve really only seen Dr Tumilty but I dont doubt that every Dr here is absolutely amazing. I actually used to go to this clinic myself when I was younger so its pretty cool coming here again with my own baby!
They were absolutely fantastic at dealing with me as a terrified new parent. I have always really appreciated that. Every single doctor we saw there was nice, thorough and took plenty of time to answer my questions. We particularly loved Dr Clark though. The nurses return calls promptly and I always found them very willing to help. I also like that there is always a pediatrician on call 24 hours a day for emergencies. If we moved back into the twin cities metro area I would definitely bring my kids back here.
My kids have been patients at this clinic for the last 5 years. Today I brought them both in and was literally running about 2 minutes behind the normal cut off. Excuse me for being a working mom who has a hard time getting out of the office in the middle of the day. I was told by a very rude receptionist that we would have to reschedule. I said, please Im here now, my kids just need their flu shot and well exam, we dont have a lot of concerns or questions to take up the doctors time. I was told we can give them their flu shot but, they have to reschedule the other appointment. I asked what the cutoff time is. They said 15 minutes. I said I am only about 15 minutes late whats the problem? They said its the doctors discretion whether to accept late patients. I asked well, if thats the case can I please talk to the doctor and explain myself? I was told No he was just here and told me youd have to reschedule, there is nothing I can do. Then rude receptionist lady turns her back and walks off.I called the office later and they tried to fob me off on a so-called administrator. No! It was not an administrator who canceled my appointment because I missed the cutoff by 2 minutes and behaved rudely towards me when I got there If my complaint is just going to get lost in customer service administration bureaucracy, there is no point in complaining. I hope those 2 minutes is worth the lost revenue from my bills and poor word of mouth theyre going to get from me as a result. You know what would have happened if Id been there on time? They would have shoved me and my kids into a room and had us waiting for 15-20 minutes anyway! They dont respect their patients time AT ALL but, we sure as heck better respect theirs or by golly, theyre going to teach us a lesson! They dont think enough of patients to even bother to try and train their front desk staff how to be friendly and at least attempt to resolve customer complaints. Ill be taking my business elsewhere.
Dr. Tumilty has been a fantastic Doctor and I cannot reccomend her enough. She has always been patient with my concerns, and has been understanding with everything I bring up. She has been one of the only doctors I have been able to openly and whole heartedly trust. I cannot thank her enough for the amazing experiences that she has granted me. She is compassionate and overall just the best doctor I have ever seen. Thank you Dr. Tumilty!!!
My kids are 17 and 19 and Ive used Metro peds since I brought home a preemie baby in 1999. I was a very nervous new mom and had a little one who needed a bit extra. You always provided the extra, referred to specialists as needed and listen to our concerns when making decisions. Youve developed such a great relationship with my boys and made doctors visits easy!! I highly recommend Metro peds and the use of a pediatric MD to ALL new parents (or parents looking for great care)! You have been highly responsive at all hours, and given us the best care ever!! Well be sad to outgrow your clinics!
The front staff was great. The wait to get into the doctors office wasnt bad (maybe 10 minutes). Unfortunately, the doctor wasnt the best. 15 minute wait with a young child; wheezing and struggling to catch their breath was hard. The doctor didnt seem too qualified. He wasnt asking any follow up questions nor offering any information. My son was having a hard time breathing and basically the doctor said, well, what your old doctor did makes sense, lets try that. DO NOT BUY YOUR NEBULIZER from them - $300 (less $100 in insurance discounts) for a $75 machine. They told me the price was around $100 and had me sign a form indicating I was advised that I could buy this somewhere else. It registered as a RED FLAG but $100 seemed reasonable. As the in-office treatment finished, they went to get us the nebulizer and indicated they would provide training on the machine. 30 minutes passed and I had to flag a somebody down - they apologized for forgetting we were there, went to a closet and pulled a nebulizer off the shelf and sent me on my way. Never saw the doctor after the in-office treatment and will not go back.
We normally go to the Edina location. Because they were closed on Sunday we took our daughter to Burnsville location and we arrived 15 min before our appointment 45 minutes after and we are still waiting after they took 2 other patients that got here after we did.
My wife asked the doctor about a wart on my sons knee. It was small. The doctor quickly removed it and we were charged $229! Is this a joke? I have removed small common warts for $8 using the over the counter stuff. My better half apparently wasnt aware that this can be done at home. Unbelievable how big of a rip off this was. It seems a bit unfair to take advantage like that. :(
We have been visiting Metropolitan Pediatrics for the last 4 years or so and have been very happy with them. We have a great doctor and the staff have always been pleasant and kind. I couldnt ask for more in a pediatrician.
Our daughter has been seeing Dr. Clark for 14 years! Our son saw Dr. Tate until he retired, and now sees Dr. Baker. All docs have been WONDERFUL!
Ive recently have been struggling with Target Pharmacys switch over to CVS so they have mixed up a few meds that have been prescribed by Metro Peds. I was told by CVS that I would need to contact my doctor about a refill, so I called Metro Peds and the woman who answered was not agreeable and was very short with me. It was like I was a nuisance and she was just trying to get rid of me.
The doctors have always been awesome with my children and listen to my concerns. The triage nurse always steers me right.
Im new to the area and tried to call to schedule my children appointments to be seen and the lady that I talked to for 5 mins on the phone was so rude she didnt even let me schedule an appointment and transferred me somewhere else.
