FIRST HAIR CUT & PEDI- SINCE RE-OPEN- DUE TO COVID-19 ~OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE !I have been waiting to get my hair done, like everyone else, (I was beginning to look like... I dont know what, scary anyway) and was so excited to get an appointment today 6/26/20 ~ This was such an event for me to, not only get my hair cut by the marvelous and talented Mackenzie, but... I also treated myself to, what I can only describe as the best pedicure, that i have had in a L O N G time, if ever.This was the first time I have experienced a pedicure @ Metamorphosis, and was cared for by the sweetest and most amazing Julia. This woman knows what shes doing & does it so well. My feet looked amazing and my polish was killer ~Left the salon, like a new person.Amazing what a little care to yourself can do, and to have such great people make it happen. Thanks so much to you all ~Glad you are re-opened. Such a treat !

I worked with Amanda to schedule my first appointment at Metamorphosis, and was super excited to try them out! Especially since salons had closed because of COVID, Ive been in dire need of a haircut and couldnt wait to try this salon. I arrived for my appointment and nobody was there. I called and nobody answered. I responded back to the email where my appointment was scheduled and got no answer. I was stood up for my hair appointment! This was so disappointing and unprofessional. I hope this review helps others to choose a different salon so that their time is not wasted like mine has been.UPDATE: Since posting this review, Metapmorphosis reached out to me and let me know they were going through a really difficult time and profusely apologized. They offered free services for the future. While the situation was disappointing, I really respected and appreciated the owner reaching out, taking responsibility and trying to correct the situation. Thanks!

This place is cool.

I took my 5 year old Autistic son to Metamorphosis Salon today. The atmosphere was awesome. The owner of the shop was very polite and welcoming. McKenzie the stylist that cut my sons hair was the best. McKenzie was professional, a joy to be around, and most importantly understanding about working with special needs children. Im glad that there is a Salon like this in the community as most barbers wont service my son. Two thumbs up Metamorphosis Salon & Day Spa.

My favorite spa. Love the banyan. Best place to soak in some hot water. The pickle plate at the restaurant is amazing as well.

I really wanted to love this place. I like that they use organic products and it is beautiful inside with all the staff being very welcoming and offering wine. But, this was absolutely the worst pedicure I have ever had. It was $50 and my nails are misshapen and the polish is uneven. I really do better at home. Unfortunately, I will not be returning here. It may be nice for other services, but get your nails done elsewhere.

I really wanted to like this place. I have sensitivities to certain chemicals and my stylist sprayed me with hairspray, mousse, and other carcinogens before I could say anything.Good atmosphere. Good people. I just wish they’d be gentler and more transparent. Overall though, not bad for a $40 haircut. But I still have a migraine.

Great salon. The staff always go out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I see Kim for my hair needs. She is a great stylist and an amazing person. I highly recommend this salon and spa.

The staff here is passionate about what they do. They are friendly, happy and sincerely care about their clients. I really enjoy getting my hair cut and color, pedicures, and massages. After their unfortunate incident with the fire, they temporarily moved to a new location. I was amazed at how resilient and quickly they got their business back up and running at a temporary location. The mother/daughter operations worked day and night which shows their strong focus on customers.

For years I have trusted very few people to cut my hair. Its very thick, coarse and naturally curly. Very curly. Prior to going to Metamorphosis Salon, I had donated 10 inches of my hair at a national chain salon. Needless to say, I HATED the cut and it was known. Shortly thereafter, I went to Mia at Metamorphosis and she gave me a cut that I loved, she gave me some face framing layers and really smoothed it out and got rid of my mushroom cut. I was so happy! I have been a loyal customer of Mia ever since.Recently I decided that I needed a change. I wanted to color my hair. Something that I havent done in 10+ years. My hair is very dark but I wanted to go lighter. I showed Mia what I was thinking of and she gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. I love my new color and cut and have gotten so many compliments on it!!! Mia never disappoints.Not only is Mia fantastic, but the salon is gorgeous. All of the products they use are organic, which is EXTREMLY important to me.In addition to the spa, they also have a yoga studio. I have only taken one class so far, but it was GREAT!!! The teacher (Sam) was amazing and it was one of the best yoga classes I have taken. It was a great workout but it was also fun! We joked and talked during the class. I cant wait to go back!

To be honest, I never enjoy getting my hair cut; I always tend to feel very out of place at salons and unsuccessfully feminine...I dont own a blow dryer and never remember to get my bangs trimmed. What amazed me (and made me feel so welcome) is that my own hair stylist empathized with that during my hair cut! I never felt so comfortable at a salon before Metamorphosis, or genuinely taken care of.Im on a budget, so when I called in advance, the receptionist was kind enough to run me through all the pricing, and scheduled me in easily for the next day. The salon itself was sweet, well-designed and cozy. I was the only customer which would normally make me feel nervous, but instead, it felt relaxing. I was offered tea, coffee or wine (which was so sweet) and really appreciated how large and comfy the salon chairs were.My hair stylist (whose name I apologize I forget), listened to my diatribe about my recent hair loss, answered my many questions, and continually (and I believe, naturally) kept boosting my self confidence. I felt so taken care of in her chair; she sent me home with samples of products to try (without recommending or pressuring I buy any), and did two complementary treatments on my hair (a hair mask and a deep conditioning). This was so generous and thoughtful, especially since I had mentioned that I was on a tight budget due to medical issues.I loved knowing that the products were all organic (which is important to me, ethically)-- and that my stylist was able to speak about the product itself. My hair was very dry and brittle to start with; the product revitalized it and even a week later I can still smell the lovely eucalyptus scent of the hair mask. She was also very strategic about my hair cut and how to get rid of the damage to make my hair feel healthy again.The resulting haircut itself was lovely, and my stylist even styled my hair for free afterwards, since I was attending an event and dislike straight hair. We had a lovely dialogue throughout the cut (she added more texture to my bangs when I asked), which made the change feel less dramatic, and instead, welcome. I walked out with beautiful, healthy hair, and felt beautiful for the first time after months of being extremely self conscious about my hair. I have Metamorphosis, and their genuine care for their customers, to thank for that.Please support their business!

I had my first appointment at Metamorphosis Salon and Spa this past weekend (facial and hair cut/color) and I couldnt be happier! The staff is courteous, easy to talk to and they listened to what you want. You cant help but be happy when youre in the salon as its decorated with lots of color and has a bohemian chic feel to it! On top of it all, they have the best price-quality ratio for hair services and products in Pittsburgh!Ive tried out many salons in the Burg in hopes of finding one that I can come back to over and again. Im happy to have found Metamorphosis and will definitely be a repeat customer of theirs!

Great atmosphere!! I saw Dallas and he gave me the best haircut I have had in a long time. Not only did he do a great job but he LISTENED and DID what I wanted done to my hair. Thank you Dallas and I will definitely be back (which means traveling over a hour each way but very worth it)!!

Dallas started as my hair dresser before Metamorphosis. Hes seen my hair in so many styles and lengths and has done a fantastic job each time. I definitely recommend Dallas for a hair cut! His manicures are superb as well!

Im so glad I found Katie at Metamorphosis! Katie is so friendly and easy to chat with while Im in for a visit, and I love my cut every time. Ive also started to get my nails done here because of how comfortable the environment is. And, they use organic products - so win, win, win.

This is truly the best salon in the burgh! I went here because I saw they won this and I was glad I did. Best haircut and color I ever had and Ive been to many salons because I have moved a lot because of my job. Highly recommend Mia and her staff.

I cant thank these ladies enough for going above and beyond. They did an amazing job with my corrective color (and I say they because it was a group effort!) and are always so accommodating. Their prices are definitely fair for the quality of work they do.

I recently had a manicure/pedicure at the salon. I purchased a Living Social promotion. Im so glad I did. I loved the service, loved the staff and the salon is beautiful. I went back the following week for a facial and it was the best facial I ever had. I will definitely be making this my go to salon.

We went there for my bachlotette party. The pedicure set up was amazing and the chairs were extremely comfortable BUT the manicures were terrible .I had to go to another salon to get them redone, they literally looked like I did them myself. Theyre also over priced for the crappy service they provide. Ive never gotten my hair or a massage done there so I cant comment on that but their manicures and pedicures are terrible . Ill never return .

Not only is this salon filled with incredible talent, but with generous, giving spirit as well. Since meeting Mia and Judy, I will not go anywhere else. Its like spending time with family. The good kind.

I love this salon! Ive been getting my hair highlighted and cut and my brows waxed here for a year now. Everyone is very friendly and it has a trendy and funky atmosphere. The stylists are talented and knowledgable, the products they use are organic, and there are always complimentary beverages. They offer a full range of spa services and nails as well!

I went to Metamorphosis to get a hair cut for the first time this week and it was amazing! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and genuine kindness. They took my coat and scarf from me and offered me a drink. I had Rebecca who made me feel so comfortable and made me not think I was totally crazy for never being at a salon before. She even took the time to show me how to curl my hair with a flat iron! Metamorphosis and Rebecca are both winners! Cant wait to go again.

This review is for wax services.I have had a Brazilian and full leg wax a few days ago and I can tell you with 100 % certainty that it has been the worst wax I have ever had. And I have been waxing for 20 + years.First, the esthetician didnt ask me how I prefer my Brazilian. She just went straight for total removal, no questions asked.Second, she used soft wax for everything. While there are some soft waxes that can successfully and painlessly be used for Brazilian waxes, the wax she used was not one of them. But then any wax can be terrible in inexperienced hands. I can tolerate a lot of pain, but that was pure torture. At times, she applied the wax on the same spot 2 to 3 times until I actually told her it hurts. Her answer was some areas are more sensitive. This answer came from someone who doesnt wax herself and thus has no way of knowing how it feels. (I asked her of she waxes herself and she told me she didnt).Third, it took her 1 hour and 40 minutes to finish. And by that, I dont mean removing all unwanted her, I just mean her take on what a finished wax should look like.Fourth, the esthetician didnt know anything about the wax. I asked her if she likes it and she said she didnt know yet b/c they just changed the wax a week prior to me being there. That shouldve been a big red flag, I dont know why I didnt react and ask for someone else who was familiar with the wax.Needless to say, I need another wax to finish what she started. This girl was as inexperienced as a first day of beauty school student. She knew nothing about waxing. She literally trained on me and I paid for it, with money and patience I didnt know I had. It took all I had to stay on that table until she thought she was done.So I was very disappointed. I was disappointed b/c no one told me she was inexperienced. It should be my choice to let someone experiment on my skin. I was disappointed b/c I paid her to torture me. I was disappointed that the owner never called to apologize for my experience. I was disappointed that I wasted time and money to get butchered.My only positive experience there was with the front desk lady who was very pleasant, sweet and polite. And when I told her I just had the worst wax of my life, she was genuinely sorry for that. She did offer to get the owner, but I had to run as I was late for another appointment. And I did tell her I didnt want anything from them other than training that girl properly so no one else had to receive such terrible wax services. However, I did expect the owner to call me and apologize and that never happened. Which I think is terrible customer service on the owners side.Also, I just want to mention I am an esthetician myself, so I do know what a good wax feels like. I went to this place for a wax b/c the girl who usually waxes me was out of town and I had to get mine done that weekend. I chose this place b/c it was an organic spa and had good reviews. I was debating whether to leave a poor review or not, but decided to go forward with it b/c this was a very bad experience and I feel I should share it with others. I also chose to review the business because the owner never reached out to apologize and let me know she was correcting the situation.

I was looking for a good place to get my hair cut, since Ive had horrible experiences (a lot!) in the past couple of years. Turns out hair cuts are harder than I thought. I showed a picture of what I wanted and left with one of the worst haircuts of my life. I literally cannot do anything with it to save my life. Now I have to find another salon to fix it. I dont recommend going there for anything other than your normal hair needs.
