I talked to my doctor a couple weeks ago about seeing someone for my mental health, when I talked about why he agreed. He sent a referral for me to see someone and I got a call the next day (a Friday). All last week I couldn’t bring myself to get up out of bed or early enough to go in to fill out new patient paperwork as I haven’t been sleeping well because of my mental health and anxiety. I was finally able to force myself up today to to do so. When I went in no one wanted to help so I just stood there till someone called me over. The lady I spoke to didn’t even look at and told me I’d have to go in Monday-Thursday next week. When I explained that today was the only day so far I’ve been able to get up to go she just repeated herself. She didn’t look at me till I turned away. I am going to try to find a new place that I can go to with my insurance. It was a complete waste of time and they showed no interest in helping at all
My husband just went for his latest appointment and wanted to talk to his doctor about getting a note for his service dog that he uses for his mental disability. The nurse and the doctor both refused to write the note stating that they could not write it without giving a reason why and thinking he only needed an emotional support dog. I have also tried the free program and after telling one of the therapists about an incident that happened with a family member I got brushed off and given some anger management paperwork. I do not recommend this place. Also the nurse was very adiment that his dog had to be professionally trained and certified both of which are against ADA law. If you have a service animal do not bring them here they were not helpful or accommodating at all. Wish I could give them 0 stars.
Meena Mohan is my wife’s life coach at the behavioral center and she is awesome. She has helped my wife a lot and we would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for help.
I wanted to talk to a counselor, so I signed up. They changed my meeting to an online meeting on late notice. When I got into the website for my appointment, I waited for 50 minutes before nobody showed up. Instead, the appointment timed out, and nobody at the facility will answer the phone even though its under business hours.
Had 3 different doctors in 3 years because they can’t keep staff. Was just informed my case has been “closed out” and cannot schedule an appointment or get a refill on meds because they went from automatically scheduling follow ups to having you do it yourself without bothering to tell anyone. DO NOT trust your mental health to these clowns. They 100% don’t give a sh!t about you.
Went to this place in 2019. When I first went I was welcomed, showed them my insurance, and was told it was accepted and that it would be free of charge because of my insurance. Went dozens of times no charges or copays, over the year I went. My last appointment was in the beginning of 2020. It is now March of 2021, and I received a notice from a debt collector of a unpaid services in the mail. NEVER had to pay or sign anything, but now, over two years since the start/end of my treatment, they want to claim my insurance wont cover fully my treatment (Which they do, they were called). No emails, phone calls, letters from BayCare Behavioral Health in Winter Haven, just a random debt collectors notice letter and as of today multiple debt collection phone calls. If I was informed when I asked about insurance and payment coverage about payments they would of been paid after each visit or I would have not gone to dozens of appointments to begin with. Deceit, Harassment, and unreliable service provided here. DO NOT GO HERE, and if you do because its the only place for you to go, make sure they write EVERYTHING down in writing with signatures and stamps of the company.-An Ex-Patient of this facility
With what Polk County Offers for Behavioral Health this is an alright place to go. Some Psychiatrist/ARNP may be more helpful than others, but they do provide assistance to those without Healthcare which is most important to me. Everyone deserves a chance to try to get help. Our Criminal Justice system fails Miserably at helping People who needs it the most. Their Process of Psychiatric Rehabilitation you receive is the worst possible Medication with Awful to Horrifying side effects. At least with Baycare Behavioral Health there is some hope. Give them a chance. Be sure who you bring or if you go yourself you tell Every single detail of what is going on with you as far as symptoms or whatever else you may be Experiencing that brings you there. If you dont express Every detail it will be a little harder to get help. If you have Insurance search for a Private Doctor and read Reviews. There are often long waits to get in especially if they are Very good. I believe that you still have to see a Counselor 1st before possible Medication which is another appointment at the Sweet Center/BayCare Behavioral Health. BayCare took over practically Everything. If you are admitted in the hospital (Baker Acted) you might get an appointment sooner, but be prepared to wait otherwise. They have far too many patients and not enough staff in my opinion. Call each morning for cancellations if you need in badly, but only certain times are set aside for New Patients. They do have a lot of cancelled appointments.
Currently going here and cannot stand it. i’m being forced to miss a telehealth appointment because i have not been sent the link to join. i’ve called the office multiple times and all i get is a recording saying “thank you, goodbye”.this isn’t the first time i’ve called and had a recording cut me off. i once called and had a recording... pretend to be a real person... so i would talk and obviously no response since it’s a recording.this is so unacceptable. i can’t understand why a medical facility would do things like this. i have been off of my meds for weeks now and have experience awful withdrawal symptoms from my previous SSRIs.my therapist is also awful. she has given me incorrect information concerning hrt and transition multiple times and it’s VERY pushy. she takes over the entire session and then i’ve gained nothing from it. i will avoid coming back here at all costs.
So far this place is doing more harm than good. You get texts emails about appointment. They call before appointment and leave voicemail saying we need to talk before appointment. Leave name no extension. Call back frantically because they threaten to cancle appointment before time scheduled if cant get ahold of you caller ID says JENNIFER NOT BAYCARE. Call back 4 times get voicemail cant get ahold of this JENNIFER...... trying to get help and there causing stress and confusion and dont even leave extension but say I have to talk before appointment. No one says you need to talk to separate person ahead of appointment time. Communication SUCKS
Not very helpful, they basically blew me off, told me to call 211, really?? My primary doctor recommended this place to find a psychiatrist, they told me next appointment wasn’t until September, then they claimed they couldn’t hear me on the phone, they just didn’t want to handle the situation, very dissatisfied, I will be contacting my primary doctors office, they need to recommend me to a better facility
100% do not recommend unless youre in a crisis with no other options. A close family member was going to Baycare to receive psychiatric services from Dr. Saez. To make a long story short, shes typically very respectful and passive in the presence of doctors. However, as a result of Dr. Saez repeatedly engaging in rude, dismissive behavior, her severe psychiatric symptoms were triggered and escalated to her physically clearing his desk of all files, decor, etc via swiping them off or throwing them at Dr. Saez. Because of his inability to interact with patients in a productive manner, she was Baker Acted for behavior that is wildly out of character for her. Luckily, while in the hospital she found a psychiatrist who completely took care of her SSDI, corrected her diagnosis, discovered a previously unknown stroke that affected her behavior, and got her on the right meds. Good psych care is out there. Dont settle for being treated like your issues are unimportant.
On March 2, 2020 I received a call from a Employee named Debbie in which she didnt give it to me I went through other channels to get it.She was trying to reach a relative and I asked could I get her number to have someone call her back she said no very short and awith tone in her voice and just hung up.She needs to be retrained in her people skills very RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. Maybe shes she was having a bad day I hope she not like this with clients she needs to self check. We are all dealing with something you separate your job from your feelings.
I am beyond dissatisfied With the staff, they are inexperienced and rude. My boyfriend got checked into the hospital, a couple of days ago and has been trying to reach me off of the hospital phone (since they confiscated his cell phone that he PAYS for). Anyways, I didnt recognize the phone number so I never answered it. Once I realized it was him I called the hospital to make sure he was okay. I told the operator his name and she transferred me to the psychiatrist. She told me that she did not have a patient by that name. I reckoned that it was my mistake and that I called the wrong hospital but I checked the number and it was the right one. So I called back and I got transferred to the same psychiatrist. she got an attitude with me over the phone and told me that she didnt have a patient by that name. She is a liar because he talked to me today and told me that he is at the Winterhaven haven hospital in the behavioral department. I also talked to his dad and he said the same thing. SO DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE LIED TO AND HAVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. My boyfriend also said its DIRTY and he hates it there.
Horrible experience!!! My adult son was put back on a medication that a different Dr. had put him on but wasnt strong enough for him. He wound up hospitalized because of it! Another Dr. doubled his dosage and it worked Great for him! He was stabilized for over 3 months, and was completely normal, cheerful clear-headed. He seemed to have some slight side effects, and as though the medication was slightly too strong for him. We called to let the new Dr. know there at the Center for Behavioral Health and he put him back on the original dosage that was too weak for him, that he wound up in the hospital from!! My son has been destabilized as a result, has been having symptoms again, and has been doing worse now! I had tried calling the Dr. more than several times to no avail. I can not speak to the Dr. it goes through a nurse. I dont know why the Dr. cant understand that he had already been tried on that lower dosage of medication by another Dr. and it wasnt strong enough, the maximum dosage worked great but was slightly too strong! There a dosage in the middle of those two that might work for him! I dont understand why the Dr. would put him on a dosage that he was already tried on before by another Dr., definitely does not work for him, and caused him to wind up in the hospital the last time?!
I called to make an appointment, actually needing help. As soon as I said that I don’t have Medicaid and have insurance through my employer, she seemed to not want to talk to me. I was told to come in on a “walk-in, first come first serve” basis, and that if they reach capacity I will be asked to come back another day. I work full time Monday through Friday and I can’t just take off time from work with the “maybe you’ll see someone, maybe not”. Mental health is not something that should be brushed off like this. Extremely disappointing, but from the other reviews here, it doesn’t appear this facility is very helpful.
I went to this place genuinely seeking help and was brushed off. I was so unimportant that I wasnt even asked for my insurance information. How can any proper diagnosis be made upon first meeting someone? Are these people even licensed? BayCare, please do not respond by asking for my contact information. You didnt help me the first time, what makes me think youre going to help now?
This place is absolutely ridiculous. I called and was told I didnt need an appointment as a new patient and could just walk in for a psychiatrist. I was told first I see the therapist and then I would be able to see the psychiatrist. I drove an hour there, filled out paperwork, and sat there waiting, only to be told the psychiatrist isnt taking new patients. So why was I told otherwise? As someone who isnt mentally well, this place turning me away has only made my issues worse. Thanks a lot for wasting my time and energy, and maybe inform the people who work there that you arent accepting new patients for the psychiatrist.
Thank my Doctor I have been her patient for almost if 15years shes understanding shes knows me she takes her time. The staff is always friendly.
I like this place, Ive beign in many therapist and many psychiatrists and I feel very comfortable here, they are adjusting my medications and they care about you
I went in asked for health I got the health I needed. The lady there told me about new health information. She told me jan 1 my insurance will be excepted there. I was told how to get help before I get them to make an appt. bathrooms was clean office was clean. She was busy with phone ringing off the hook. She had time to take me information. I felt important! Thank you BayCare!
Wonderful doctors, nurses, pharmacy and staff
This place does not return phone calls, even when you leave multiple URGENT messages regarding your medication being wrong. I guess they would rather patients end their lives than return phone calls.
This place is a disgrace. They are a perfect example of why mentally ill people fall through the cracks and end up hurting themselves or others. They have open access which means you can get seen by a social worker. You can’t schedule appointments in a timely manner and they can’t see you on a regular basis. A family member was trying to get help and this placed failed them on all levels.
Very disappointed in this office. I have had to reschedule an appointment for my son at least 3 times already and when I called to asked why his appointment was moved yet again all I was told is that oh well her schedule is a mess and basically things happen. Well I have a job and have to work. I can not keep changing days and times. It reflects very unprofessionally towards me. This is unacceptable and this is why I stopped coming to this place once before but unfortunately I had to come back. For my child.
This is a joke. People that come here obviously need mental help. This place does nothing but make my anxiety worse and give me thoughts of hurting people. So instead of helping me they make me worse! This is an unservice. Gave them one star because I can’t give them none.
Horrible, NO genuine concern for pts. I can only get 60-90min PER MONTH of therapy. Little/no availability, yet they take new pts 3 days/week! EVEN WORSE: Last month, I asked my therapist, Yasmin, for a letter acknowledging that my dog is my emotional support pet (for my landlord), said she didnt know how to do it, would have it for me next month, then tells me at todays appointment (she was 20 minutes late) we dont do that anymore,...regulation changes... said decision was result of staff meeting, then told me I need to go online to register my dog, blah blah. After I repeatedly explained that what she was referring to is a service dog (as in dogs for the blind, dogs certified, etc)...still not comprehending...said, well, we dont know what kind of dog it is, what it does... (Um, what?!!) I said, an emotional support pet can be a rabbit...it doesnt matter what kind of dog she is or what she does, this is about MY emotional well-being, isnt that what youre here for?! I asked for something so basic that I guarantee there are deeper, worrisome issues with this staff and/or director. Yasmin is either lying or incompetent, or if there was an actual meeting where this was discussed, then all the therapists are incompetent and/or unconcerned in the actual emotional well-being of their patients! Now, Im going to have to deal with the hassle of complaining state agencies/boards to take action, at least to provide a letter for my dog if nothing else. Do yourself a favor, find another center that will actually care about you. You cannot be in a healthy mental state if your therapist/center does nothing for your emotional or spiritual needs! Run from this place!
I just wanted to thank the staff for making me feel safe. I was in haines city on vacation from florida. I needed to seek some help with my depression and meds. It was sunday and seemed the only option for help was to seek out treatment at the hospital where I stayed the night that night. I had never been in a situation like this before out of state scared in a psych ward. I did notice that the nurses seemed to have there hands full all the time but that never stopped them from helping anyone that needed it. A young nurse who helped me as I was discharged was an absolute sweetheart. She too was from Kentucky and she treated me very kindly and ill never forget that. The psych doctor was very professional and listened to everything i had to say. I just wanted to make sure that these nurses and doctors get credit for what I saw and witnessed while I was there as kind and considerate. Especially in a field that requires so much patience. thank you for helping me in a time of need!
Do not go to this facility. They have cancelled the appointment with my daughter three times leaving her without medication or help. They provide NO ALTERNATIVE doctor and leave the patient without help. This is not a service that you can just delay or ignore. Peoples lives are at stake and the result of such irresponsible, incompetent, and unprofessional behavior can be devastating-- even life threatening. Do not go to this facility! Save your money, your time, and your soul and find help elsewhere. Bay Care should be sued for malpractice and closed as the scam it is.
I will not be returning!!!!
Wen I was there they helped me so good that Im all the way in Leesburg bout to transfer my services back to them... Much love Winter Haven 😘💕
Horrible experience! Took my mom, Before going I read reviews there was alot of bad ones but I went anyway. I went on Wesnesday because is the only day they have a Spanish speaking therapist. Apparently if you have Medicaid it will not cover a spanish speaking therapist! If you dont speak English Medicaid will not cover it. What!!!!!! Since when does language have anything to do with Medicaid. That was just the stupidest thing Ive ever heard. After waiting 2 hrs. What a waste of time. If you speak just the spanish language dont waste your time going to this location.
Want to thank all the staff that took care care of me . There level of commitment is outstanding from emerg/ triage to pphysicians and nurses... outstanding performance on all levels we thank you all.Don and Robert
Why when I make an apointment and my doctor wants to reschedule my appointment from a thursday to a Friday its possible for her convienence but i call in to push the new appointment a little farther in the day (11am to 1pm) the only option i get is to wait a whole 30 days (just for a refill) I think thats so ridiculous!
Don’t go bad service
I would give it 0 stars if I could. Possibly the worst service that has ever existed. Constant cancellation of appointments. Employees are unhelpful and rarely listen. Random charges on your account.
Excellent services.
They really helped my mom
If you care about your mental health (prescription wise), I would stay far away from this clinic. Theyre slammed to the max with patients. Youll find everything out after the fact when it comes to issues regarding refills, such as needing to see the doctor every three months for certain scripts, which is totally understandable, but they wont preemptively set the appointments while you are at the clinic, or call to set an appointment. Youll find out when you call for a refill on your scripts, 3 weeks prior to the prescription needing to be filled, that you need to see the doctor and the next available appointment is 3 months away. Or another example, my fiancees appointment was cancelled due to her doctor having an issue (also completely understandable, we all have emergencies and all that) but the next available appointment was 2 months out. This is unacceptable for a behavioral health clinic. They diagnose you, put you on prescriptions, and then you have to chase and beg to get an appointment for your prescriptions, but hey the risks from stopping prescriptions suddenly arent a real thing. Strokes, mania, psychosis, nah none of that is a real factor.
