I have lived here for 10 months now. I have mostly good things to say about living here, give them a shot.Pros:- Got a pretty good deal on my lease - I think it was first 6 weeks free.- Beautiful interior of the apartment- Maintenance requests are fulfilled next business dayCons:- Most of the staff are exceptional but there is one staff member who has been consistently rude to me- There are silverfish appearing in the apartments, neighbors have posted about it and I have seen them as well- BBQ by the pool has been broken for months and has not been fixed

Terrible complex. I had to move out early due to their lack of respect of personal information that they hand out willingly to other residents then deny it. They handle conflict between residents poorly and had major bug infestation issues. I HIGHLY do not recommend this complex to anyone. The management company Grubb Properties is knowledgeable of all these issues yet all they do is apologize and say they will correct it no actions have been taken obviously since I received an email with a residents information in it three days ago even thought I’ve moved out over 3 months ago. They do not value privacy here. They do not care about their residents and the upkeep of the property is embarrassing.

This is the most unsafe apt complex I have lived in. Multiple residents have reported cars being broken into. We have to put signs up for deliveries not to be made to the door steps bc they’ll be stolen. Someone also broke into our apt in broad day light while one of us was in there and the other had the dog outside. All management has done is told us to continue to lock the doors.

Hands down the best place to live in the North Charleston/Park Circle area if you are renting. The staff is amazing - so helpful and friendly, they truly care about their residents. I always felt safe walking my dog at night in the area with the amount of lights they keep on 24/7. The dog spa, gym and pool are great. Will miss living here and the great people who keep the complex running!

I absolutely love living here. The layout of my apartment is just right for me and all the amenities are fantastic. The location is near perfect, as it is close to the best that Park Circle has to offer and is very well situated for quickly getting Downtown. However, the best part of living here is the amazing staff, every single of one of them does everything they can for us residents, and it shows.

My husband and I moved in to Link Apartments at Mixson back in November and we LOVE living there. From the apartment, the amenities, THE STAFF, the location...everything. Its been such a great experience. The staff is so helpful in any and all things related to our home from keeping us up-to-date on upcoming projects, to hosting social gatherings, to responding to maintenance requests. The gym is a great little gym, too. The dog park is big enough for our pup to run free, but theres also an open area for her to roam around on the leash. And theres always dog baggies nearby anywhere on the premises. We love the coffee shop. It has the best treats and drinks. The location is PRIME since we are a 20 minute walk from East Montague and less than that from the circle for all the disc golf our little hearts desire. We have really loved living here so far and have no qualms at all. The apartment has a great layout and I LOVE the gas range along with the open shelves. Totes adorbs. Id recommend living here to anyone!

This place is great! Friendly staff, great living space! I love it so much! The only suggestion I would have is for them to instill a fine for dog poop (like pooprints) to make dog owners accountable. I hate that I step on dog poop even on the sidewalks. Gross! Other than that, this place is awesome!!

My boyfriend and I had a lot of trouble finding a good and affordable place to live in and were apprehensive about moving into Link Mixson because of the bad reviews on Google, but we decided to give it a shot anyway. Once we got to meet the staff and tour the gorgeous apartments and surrounding areas, we were sold immediately.First, Id like to address the bad reviews on here: it turns out that Link Mixson is under new management and theyre wonderful people. They are friendly, easily available, and really efficient! On one of the first few days here, we asked to have a fan installed in a room and they did so expeditiously. Its ridiculously easy to get ahold of them because their office is nearby, and we can contact them in a number of ways, on every day of the week. The new management team is great management, overall. On top of having new management, the buildings themselves are brand new. The apartments are stunning, inside and out. The European style is open and clean-looking. Personally, the best part has to be the kitchen since it has granite counter tops and gas stoves. The outside area is also commendable. Its green and pet friendly. Theres plenty of space to hang out or walk your dog. Its a quiet community and I really enjoy spending time in and out of my apartment.

Just moved into to property on 8/30/2019 The front office staff was very pleasant. I am very disappointed in my apartment on so many thing levels,Scratched and scuffed marks on all the appliances. The Bathroom counter top has a very large brown stain with a long scratch through it, The face covering on the stove near the nobs is coming off and there is brown sticky substance leaking out of it, the doors to the laundry, I have to pull and wrestle them to open it then noticed that the left door has a nice sized hole on the outside and is cracked down the middle, all of the cute open faced cabinets are peeling and cracked, even the blinds pieces of it missing in the living room.I live on the 2nd floor and the outside stairs shake and wobble when my 70lb pound dog runs down them. And the more I look around the list just keep growing. I was living in a different state and chose this place due to the short distance to my job. And was sent pictures of the space.I am counting the days until my lease ends.

While visiting a friend a few weeks ago I tripped on the staircase. Not their issue right? Wrong. The safety handrail was broken in two places and not attached to the wall. Turns out at that point it had been BROKEN and KNOWN BROKEN by management for more than 6 weeks. When I sent them an email the first inquiry was ignored. The second a week or so later said they would look into the matter, including the damage done to my laptop. Answer to me a few days following was they would not reimburse me for the broken mac. BAD ANSWER MIXSON because it really wasnt about that....my communication was that yes I have a broken laptop, but that the handrail NEEDS TO BE FIXED and why do you not care about the safety of those on the site? You are lucky i did not injure myself and my letter would have been from a personal injury attorney. My goal with this review is to simply expose this place for what it is. Ignorant of the safety and concerns of its residents and visitors. I did a quick pole of people in various buildings and guess what..........my experience, while unique, is not out of character. RUN FROM THIS PLACE.

I would be giving this place five stars if I had just moved in. But since Ive been living here since June 2014 and there is still construction work being done (in fact, loud drill work being done right outside my window as I type this) I cant help but be severely disappointed. While the design is clean and modern, the walls are very thin (despite being sold as sound-proof) and there is dog poop everywhere. Not to mention that the location is terrible. There are no grocery stores for miles, and you have to get on the interstate to get anywhere. Also, the office staff is extremely friendly, but a little bit incompetent (my deposit wasnt cashed until eight months after I moved in and they are apparently unaware of the construction work). I get the feeling that in a couple of years this place will be great, but as for now, not worth it.

New appliances, granite countertops, wood floors, freshly painted walls (and not boring-old-white). The complex itself is very community-driven. I’ve been here a month and I’ve already been invited to several gatherings: a wine and painting class, a holiday gift wrapping get together and bingo night. Id feel unsafe to live here. I normally dont write reviews, but I thought Id warn people for their safety. My sister had to leave her apartment in building 400, and move into a guest suite in building 500 because it was deemed unlivable, a fire hazard due to all of the construction. The Flats at Mixson didnt tell anyone, until the Fire Marshall came. They then informed everyone to vacate within 30 days. The construction seems to be on most of the buildings, even though they were completed about a year ago. Some people cant walk out onto their balconies because they boarded up their doors, because its unsafe to walk out onto them. Constant scaffolding everywhere, on a lot of the buildings. Support beams underneath balconies. The parking lot which is just gravel constantly has pot holes. Its best to avoid that. And since these apartments seem to be very cheaply made, youll most likely have problems, (floor bowing, doors that you have to slam to close, ect.) But dont worry, the staff in the leasing office will not only be rude, but unhelpful.

Do not move here. Do not be fooled by how pretty things look or what they tell about how soon the construction will be done. I lived here for a year and renewed my lease with a 10% raise in my rent and a month later, construction began on every building to make up for the horrible job they did at construction. Water leaked in everywhere and some residents had there whole units flooded. They raise my rent and then used that to fix the buildings.I couldnt take my dogs on a peaceful walk because theres just construction noise constantly. The door hinges to the swing doors on my building broke 5 months ago. They have yet to fix them. They cant get someone to make custom hinges for the door. There are just no hinges on the door so they just swing and bang loudly against the building when its windy.Residents in my building complained enough and they were let out of there leases. The websites show these outdoor events but its not possible to have outdoor events because there is construction, everywhere. There is a pool but you cant bring alcohol to the pool. Families invite there friends who bring there kids and so theres like 10 kids in the pool. They put grills at the pool on top of wood and someone pointed out that this was violation of the fire code so then they had to replace that. The rents are higher then average because this place is pretty and new its literally just a facade. It says they treat you like family, but only if that family if youre the in-laws that they dont really like but have to be nice to.The middle of my floor started to warp and the property manager came in and told me it was water spilled from my dog bowl. She said this despite my dog bowl being against the wall. She also said the flooring had been discontinued so if there is an issue with a small section of the floor, that means you have replace the whole flooring and she tried to tell me that if I wanted this done, I would have to pay for it.I could go on and on about how much I regret moving here. To my defense, I moved in right after the building was finished and we also had the nicest properly manager back then. Her name was Allie. The new one, her name is Robin. She put up covers over the windows to her office so we cant see her when we go into the office. Shes probably tired of having to deal with all the issues. Shes lucky that at the end of the day, she gets to go home. A home that is not the flats, and has floors that probably do not warp, and and doors that have hinges, a place where there is not the sound of construction constantly going on. My hands hurt or I would write more.

I Initially gave Flats At Mixson at 4 star review, after Allie left this place went down hill in a hurry. There are multiple serious structural issues with the buildings and the way Management has treated and communicated with residents i will never rent from Greystar again. I dont think there is anything nice to say about the property by the time i got out of my lease other than the maintenance staff is quick and very professional for standard work orders. Do your self a favor and stay away from this place.

I moved out of the Flats at Mixson on Aug 3. Five days before the mandatory eviction due to the City of North Charleston deeming my building (bldg 500) unfit for residency due to multiple fire and safety violations. Several weeks prior, the management of the flats dismissed my safety concerns and boastfully stated that the renovation of my building was safe and signed off by City of North Charleston. Nothing could be further from the truth. On June 10th the City of North Charleston Fire Department descended on Mixson. Approximately 6 NCFD vehicles parked outside my window, including the Fire Marshall, multiple Assistant Fire Marshals and the City Building Inspector. I spoke with the first firefighters on scene and one of the firefighters comment was “this is the type of place where fire fighters die”. He told me “if there was a fire, we wouldn’t be able to get a ladder to your window”. There was no way for them to navigate a ladder around the scaffolding that surrounded the building. If there was a fire my only other alternative was to exit through two makeshift tunnels made out of plywood. Some of my neighbors literally had plywood nailed to the outside of their windows preventing any way out if their door was blocked. He also pointed out that the fire hydrant was blocked off with construction materials. The construction teams lacked respect for the residents. The walkways were constantly littered with debris such as nails, glass, discarded chunks of stucco and abandoned construction equipment. They parked in the already limited parking spaces and caused significant damage to the gravel parking lot resulting in a field of potholes which resulted in significant damage to my vehicle. We were told they would only be permitted to work between 9am and 5pm but they often started as early as 8am and stayed as late as 6:30pm. The air was constantly thick with dust and over time everything in my apartment had a noticeable buildup despite my efforts to keep it clean. The zip wall in my apartment that was suppose to keep the dust out came apart multiple times and a hole was ripped in it by a worker, whom didn’t even attempt to fix it.The issue with all of the buildings at Mixson is that they all suffered significant water damage due to improperly installed roof flashing. Mixson is not telling residents, current or new, that the exterior of every single building will have to be removed, all the rotted wood, rotting insulation and windows will need to be replaced (these buildings are practically new and I was the second person to live in my unit). Several of the 1st floor residents that I spoke with told me they had issues with constantly damp carpet and bubbling floors. While work has been done on every building at this point, the work on the remaining buildings was only to prevent additional water damage and ensure the buildings are structurally sound. All Mixson porches were fitted with a temporary joist after inspectors deemed they were unsafe and could potentially collapse. At some point every building will be wrapped in scaffolding and share the same fate as bldg 500.I loved the Flats at Mixson when I first moved in Aug 2014. I loved the design, the atmosphere, my neighbors, etc. I thought of it as a little oasis in the ghetto (I heard multiple gunshots while living there). However now, I view Mixson with great disdain. It was the worst living situation I’ve ever been subject to and I hope that my review will help others avoid such a horrible place. I’ve never felt so unsafe, or felt so much angst in my own home then I did when I lived at the Flats at Mixson.

Run away as fast as you can. There are some pros: I like my little apartment (even though a lot of its features are shoddy). The barista crew at the Mixson Market is generally really nice, and the little community events are well-meaning. But the cons are so egregious that they decimate the pros. Basically, this place is a house of cards. Office staff is sooo dishonest and condescending, and the apartment buildings are coming apart at the seams. There is so much lying and borderline illegality when it comes to the staffs dealing with tenants that its almost laughable. The construction/lack of repair has gotten really dangerous, and its insane that this luxury community--which is by no means cheap--is structurally/operationally no better than a tenement. Ive yet to meet anyone whos renewing their lease. One star is a kind review.

First and foremost, I woluld like to lead this review by advising that the complex is now under new management and is undergoing extensive (and beautiful) renovations. My wife and I made the decision to move to Charleston from Louisiana for our careers. When I was apartment hunting I knew I wanted to live in an area that was quiet, close to the highway, close enough and still far enough away from downtown. Link Apartments at Mixson fits that bill to a Tee. Additionally, I knew I wanted an apartment complex with awesome amenities, an open floor plan, and lots of windows for natural lighting. Again, Link Apartments Mixson, again, did not disappoint. My wife and I instantly were drawn to the pictures of the interior of the apartments. The wood floors, European styled kitchen with open shelving, and sizeable balcony for the reasonable price, kept us coming back to the website when we were making our final decision. Renting an apartment from out of town without seeing it first can be scary. Luckily, we had the benefit of working with Erin in the leasing office. She was flawless with assisting us with any questions we may have had and walking us through the (easy, quick and convenient) leasing process online. We communicated through phone and email in order to complete the process. Erin was honest and upfront about the construction and renovations that were taking place with the apartments and she gave us approximate dates of when all the work would be complete. We took advantage of the leasing special and she made sure we both understood the terms. My wife traveled a week ahead of me due to her start date and Erin and the rest of the management team went over and beyond to accommodate us. After a month of living on the property I can truly say I feel as though we made the best choice for our needs. The other tenants are friendly, the area and building is pet friendly, the complex has community patios with sitting areas and ping pong tables, and they have already started to have little community breakfasts and activities to engage everyone in the complex. In addition to these perks, the complex is located within an up and coming community steps always from Park Circle area (exclusively called Mixson) that has a restaurant, an awesome little coffee shop, and small dog park that is available to the tenants. All of these are in walking distance. I am not sure of all the issues that this complex may have had in the past, but so far Link Apartments Mixson is revamping itself under new management and is turning out to be a beautiful, affordable, and accomodating apartment community. Thanks to everyone in the leasing office for welcoming us to Charleston.

When we first moved into The Flats, we loved it. It was newly built, clean, nice amenities, and the neighborhood events they did were great. However, as the months went out, our opinion greatly changed. Although water wasnt visibly leaking into our apartment, it was clearly leaking underneath the floor and baseboards. Our floors by our front door and baseboards were warped, so they sent it a crew in to fix it, which consisted of completely ripping everything up and replacing it, which took a week. I mentioned this to my neighbor and she said, yeah they did that to mine a month ago and water is leaking in again already. There were clearly a number of issues going on with each of the buildings, because construction crews began construction on all of the buildings shortly after. We lived through a month of crews ripping off and repairing the outside of our building. An entire month, Mon-Fri, 9-5. Part of the appeal of The Flats was that it was new and we would have no issues, but this clearly wasnt the case. Oh, but we did get a $5 coupon to the farmers market (if you can call it that) for enduring a month long of construction. Then one morning at 6am our fire alarm starting going off. We quickly jumped out of bed and I went outside with the dogs while my boyfriend tried to take the battery out of the smoke detector. Once the battery was out, it was still going off. Luckily the maintenance guy was already on site so he was able to come quickly to do whatever needed to be done, which apparently was replacing the smoke detector. According to him, this happened to another couple just hours before. Soooo, apparently faulty smoke detectors was a common thing.Lastly, with just 2 months left on our lease, my boyfriend walked out to his car in the morning to go to work and found that all 4 tires had been stolen off his car in the middle of the night. I emailed The Flats office to let them know so that they could inform other residents, and also maybe see if anyone noticed anything suspicious. I shouldve known better that they wouldnt want to publicize this, and they of course didnt bother sending out an email to the residents. I also asked the leasing office if they had any cameras around the property and the response that I got was no, because it could make us liable if something like this happened. .....oh, okay. Well, wouldnt you know it, 2 nights later we were pulling in from dinner (around 8pm) and saw cops 3 buildings from ours with their lights on. We walked down there to see what was going on, and someones car had been broken into. This was pretty much the breaking point for us. I asked The Flats if there was any way we could just end our lease a month early so we could move. I expressed to them how violated and unsafe we felt and all I got was a no, sorry. I took it a step further and had my therapist, who I see for my anxiety disorder, write a letter stating that because of the incidents that took place, my anxiety was exasperated and it would be in my best interest to move immediately. I sent the letter to the leasing office and to Greystar Corporate office and got no response. Apparently $1000 means more than someones mental health. We decided to just move out anyway and pay two leases for a month because I needed to just get out of there. The Flats is a disaster. I dont even know if they are currently renting out apartments since some of them were deemed unlivable, but if they are, just stay away. The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one is because our first 6 months there were fine and they do have great community events, but just do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to live.

We moved in right after our building was completed and really liked the layout of the apartment as well as the amenities plus for us the location was great being that we both worked near Park Circle. Everyone had told us that the area was up and coming so we gave it a shot.At first I really enjoyed the management team as they seemed nice, but over time it became sort of fake. I had to call a few times to get a shelf in our kitchen fixed because it was sagging and they told me it would be fine the first time the maintenance guy came to look at it. Being that I was home all the time I could see that it was not sturdy so I took all my items off the shelf except the microwave which was on it when we moved in. Even then with less weight it sagged more so I called again and they sent the maintenance guy out again. He attempted to support it, but this did not work so they had to come in and completely redo the shelf. It still sagged about an inch on one end and never seemed sturdy, but I guess after fixing it 3 times they were not going to do it again. Then the issue came with our patio doors (we were on the first floor). They were not properly sealed so I could feel air coming through them which was running our air conditioning constantly. I had contacted them to come fix it and they fixed the seal, but it was still not good enough. Our electric bill was ridiculous one month (almost twice what it should be) and they did offer after a lot of back and forth to credit our account for 1/3 the amount of the bill. They also came and had to cut the top of the door so that it would close well and add a thicker seal. They also had to fix the seal on our front door.We only lived there for 6 months and it seemed as though the maintenance guy was there almost weekly taking care of something because they obviously rushed through the construction. Aside from all the maintenance we had to have I never felt safe there. I was a stay at home mom of an infant and we were on the first floor. Our windows were always locked and the blinds were always closed so that no one could see in. We parked our cars always right next to our side windows so that we could hear if anyone tampered with them. I tried to sit on the porch to read when my son was napping, but someone creep always walked past and made a comment. We also had a gentleman who would sit on our porch chair pretty regularly, which was right outside our door and our main living area.Although the amenities were nice, the grills closest to our apartment were always not working or out of gas and they never sent around newsletters informing residents of any issues, anything not working, etc. When we moved out it was 6 months before our lease ended because we had to transfer for a job. The move out fees were insane and they were not willing to work with us. Come to find out that not even a month after we left and paid all the fees we would have had to move out anyway because the entire lower level of our building flooded. And when we moved out we were packing our vehicles/uhaul and had left a vacuum on the other side of the road from our place with a sign for free. A gentleman saw it and asked if he could have it and I told him yes he could. He then lingered and I knew he was looking for something else to take. Well when I went just inside the double doors to grab a box and came back out he was gone and a box that was sitting on the bed of our truck was gone.Honestly, the place was built too quickly, the rent is higher than it should be for the neighborhood and it is unsafe. We heard sirens pretty consistently going past and there were always people walking past from the mini mart at the end of the road with beer. These same people would kind of linger when I would leave to go to my car or pull up to go into my apartment and they always made crude comments. I even had one guy carrying a pack of beer invite me to a party down the road.. Its unfortunate because these could have been really nice apartments and the Mixson Market area is very cute, but the area isnt there yet.
