Lying cheating employee and dirty broken car. He added an unrequested $8/ day tow service charge and when I caught it, he lied and said I had added it at time of my booking. The vehicle had not been cleaned or sanitized. The engine plastic cowling was hanging underneath and vibrated loudly at 60mph.I could not get Budget to give me another car or fix it at two other locations. They had zero customer service or mechanics or cars to offer.I fixed the car MYSELF with a zip tie.No one was at Newark to hand the keys to when I dropped it off at 630AM. No drop box either. I had to leave the key on the counter and get to my flight.Budget is a disgusting company.
Budget over the years is lacking in enough employees to service clients at the counter. There is always a line and the computer system is old and slow. When you return cars its hard to find out where to drop them off is hard to find, always the farthest from any other rental car agency and where co-located the facilities are bad, always under construction are electrical are being renovated. I travel a lot and i am given a contract that can not be located on return and no receipt is able to be provided at the parking lot on return. For this and other reasons i can not give a good comment are recommend that my company continue to use your services. It is truth and with an honest heart i have to serve this notice of my intentions. Thank you for the past years of excellent service from 1997 to 2012. But since then its all down hill.
The agent was quick and efficient, no problems with pickup or drop-off. However when I called to ask where the shuttle picks up, they told me I had to get there on my own. The person SHOULD HAVE told me to take the air train to the car rental area. Im glad I asked a security guard before calling an uber
The car was good. Thank you. But the wait time to get the car was TWO HOURS!!! In a cramped space where one could get Covid easily if someone was infected in the group of 40 of us waiting in line for a car.
It is just unacceptable to be forced to wait in a 3 hour line to pick up my rental car. How can you have only 1 rep, on a holiday weekend, at a very busy EWR airport, checking in that many customers (over 50). Then I was completely mislead by Fastbreak which I thought would make the process go faster and it just didnt. Ive traveled to many airports, on many holiday weekends and I have just never seen that. The same office had a Sixt, Dollar and a Thrifty . . . way less people but way more reps. It is inexcusable and this cost me 3 hours on a trip and basically wore me out to do anything for the rest of the day. My flight from Fort Lauderdale to Newark was shorter than the wait in line I had to get the car. And yes we are still in a pandemic and shouldnt have to be waiting indoors, that many people for that long of a period, to get a car. We werent allowed to go to Avis to which had way less people either. Seriously if you know you have a staffing issue, stop taking so many reservations or give us a warning on the situation so we can have an option to book elsewhere.
If I could give zero stars, I would. We had a car reserved for months in advance for 7pm. We waited in line for a good hour and a half with only 5 people ahead of us. They had 2 employees when we got in the line, then one just disappeared for the rest of the time. They then took an additional 30 minutes to get our car to us after checking in.All in all, we spent more time waiting around to get the rental than we did driving it.Easily one of the worst rental experiences Ive ever had - stick with enterprise, or another well known car rental agency. Do whatever it takes to avoid this company.
I paid for a luxury car that looked dingy. The tires were worn out. To make matters worse it started over heating. All you could smell was smoke but couldnt see where the source was. Be fore ingot the car I instead on being given another one but was told by the rep at the counter that there were no other cars. We had to take it.
The customer service was great. I forgot my sweater in the car when I returned it and the young man handling the returns was so nice to search the lot. Then the customer service counter made some calls and was able to retrieve it. None of them acted like I was a bother at all.
When I arrived at the Budget counter on 9/12/2021 at Newark Airport at 6:15 PM to pick my car there were about 35- 40 people in front of me. There were 2 people working the desk and instead of picking up my car at 6:30 I finally signed the papers at 8:45 and got into my rental at 9:00PM. I had a similar experience on August 27, 2021. However, this wait was worse, There is no reason when you know the number of people and the time they are picking up to have so few staff available to work the counter! I booked through Costco but will not use Budget again because of the poor service. Drop off was fine but pickup was totally unacceptable!
Online booking was easy. Price was more than fair. The SUV was perfect for 5 pasangers plus luggage. Mitsubishi Outlander.
Easy to get to from the Terminal on the People Trans. Located in a temporary building but adequate for renting and getting your vehicle. Total time from Terminal to getting in the car was less than 20 minutes. Very good. Return was easy as well, drop off was quick. Attendant scanned vehicle bar code and printed receipt and off you go. Seven minutes later we were on the Trans back to Terminal. Excellent.
On Friday, 9/10/21, I picked up my rental at EWR Airport (Newark, NJ). Although I was the next person waiting in line to get my rental, it took more than 20 minutes to receive service. When the customer service agent finally started to assist me, a previous customer came into the building, walked up to the counter (he bypassed and everyone else who was waiting in line) and started talking to the rental agent. The agent stopped working with me and started bantering back and forth with the customer. Approximately 20 to 25 minutes later, I was told where to find my car. Once at my rental car, I saw that the outside of the vehicle was filthy and covered with bird droppings, however I have time to stop and have them to clean it because I was already close to being late for scheduled meeting. When I tried to exit the parking lot there was no one in either of the exit booths to let me exit the property. I circled the lot trying to find another way out for several minutes. After waiting ANOTHER 15 to 20 minutes, a young lady nonchalantly walked slowly from a vehicle to the exit booth and started checking cars and allowing them to leave. So, after being delayed for well over an hour, I missed my scheduled meeting and will now have to make a return trip next month. Then, to add insult to injury, the facility charged me and additional $60 late fee when I returned the vehicle today but I was not an hour late. One of the managers said she would make the adjustment and she kept my receipt. To be perfectly honest, i dont know how companies stay in business with service like this. This was my first time using Budget in over eight years and I am highly disappointed with my experience. Now that I am resuming work travel, it would have to be a dire emergency for me to use them again. I hate to say it, but its true. Please do better.
I have been a FASTBREAK member for many years and have made all my rentals with Budget. This is the 1st time that I feel the service was low and charges were excessive. The car exterior was dirty and obviously not washed. Dings and scratches throughout car and tire wall was cut. The change oil light was on. This is how I drove the car out on day 1. I was late 1 hour and the hourly rate charged was same as a day rate. And the daily fees were increased a day for the 1 hour late. So my contract for $667.85 was increased to $764.78. $96.93 were charged for a one hour late. The contract stated hourly rate $70.63.
Shouldve check the reviews before hand, they are all true. Been in line for over 40min, line is out the door, 2 unmotivated employees. Reviews all to true
I did NOT rent a car on that date ????However, I did get a notification that my check in went perfectly. The problem is Irented the car on September 16th and returned it to the unmanned and unlocked key return box on September 20th!!!!°°°
Your agents in Newark despite being in temporary facilities were nothing short of amazing. The agent noticed that we were from Illinois and assumed that we had an I-Pass that would work on the toll roads in the New York metropolitan area. Check-in was quick, pleasant and efficient
When we arrived we were greeted with a person who was polite and happy. Also not sure if the person who greeted us and assisted us in the Budget parking lot worked for Budget or the Airport. This gentleman was very helpful. He was a tall thin blackman who wore a black rosary cross. He showed true customer service with a great smile. We really appreciated his assistance. Both on the day of our arrival and our departure.
Returned the car with some dirt on the floor. Was charged a cleaning fee - fine, although I have never been charged for dirt in a car before. Not fine, the cleaning fee was FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS. For dirt. On the floor. Note nothing was mentioned when returning the car; got a letter later.Total ridiculous back-door charge.Forgot to mention, this was a PICK-UP TRUCK rental!Edit: Upgraded to 3 stars from 1 as a call to corporate got the fee instantly reversed no questions asked. Just be careful with this location!
Poor customer service the information department. The system did not reflect what was I said or what I was told to upon initial agreement of me reserving the vehicle. This was a insurance rental through Geico gave the claim number and no one processed the claim, but instead charged it to my credit card which left me having to wait for reimbursement through my insurance. The initial car I was suppose to get was not what I received upon picking up the car. Just to much unprofessionalism for me.
Did not get the van that was listed on the itinerary (and the van was available). Brakes did not make me feel comfortable from the beginning. Returned the van a day before actual return date and still received a text message as well as a letter, five days AFTER the van was returned. Called customer service and waited on hold for over and hour after being told that the hold would be 35 minutes. Finally spoke to a representative that i had to ask over and over to repeat himself (huge language barrier). Issue wasnt resolved during that call.
I was sent email saying to confirm my reservation and get quick checkout upon arriving at the location. Well that didnt happen. They had two people working and it took 2 hours for me to get my reserved car. Not to mention when I got to the clerk I was taken care of in about 3 minutes. Which was even more upsetting knowing that if things were handled correctly I could have been in and out instead of waiting for people that didnt take the proper channels to prepare for their trip
I went to rent a vehicle at this location and everything was smooth until she ask for $200 to hold, then when I look the screen I was charged $424.44. So I was why and she said that everything will be refund back to my account. When I returned the vehicle I see what I was charge, two services that I didnt ask for and I wasnt told about it. A flat rate told of 21.99 a day and vehicle insure that I denied from the beginning. The vehicle insurance I was going to use my company for and the toll was something that I didnt ask for. People please read and ask the question if you see this type of issue. That was a professional scamming right there. I call customer service and the dude says that I choose those two options because that why are they in the contract. So guess what Mr. CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I didnt request any of those two. We will contact corporate and if I need a talk to my lawyer about this issue that I think they been doing it to every one that rent without telling them what they signed for.
Two people working (w/ a distinct lack of sense of urgency). Nearly 3 hrs in line for a rental.Plenty of reviews saying the same thing. If you cant handle the influx of people on a day to day basis then youve got to work with the airport to get people transitioned to another company.I get being busy but this was a pathetic display of client care.
I had a hiccup with my original reservation with another rental company. I came over to the Budget counter in a bind and Nancy, the representative at the counter, was EXTREMELY accommodating and very helpful! She quickly was able to find the right vehicle for my needs and guided me on my way. She was calm, personable, and made me feel important. Her customer service truly made a difference and Im very grateful she was there! I travel a lot for business and renting cars can be painful. If every representative was like Nancy, I wouldnt mind it at all. I never complete these surveys but I had to take the time to express how great Nancy was! Give her a raise, seriously she deserves it!
The vehicle that we rented was not clean. It had sticky residue on the dash and steering wheel. There were items and garbage left in the vehicle as well. it had a lot of physical damage with poor evidence of repair (patch up job, looked like they used house paint to cover up damage).Additionally while traveling, we had a family emergency resulting in hospitalization and surgery. When we reached out to see if they could provide a discount because we needed to extend our rental because of our situation (mind you we had already rented for 1 week for over $1k) they would not accommodate or provide any discount. There seemed to be no empathy to our family crisis. We extended the rental as long as we financially could. As a result we had to rush back after the surgery although the doctors recommended further recovery time. We ultimately rented for 11-12 days (5 days more than planned).
Even though I had a bad rental at first with multiple issues with the battery in the controller they made sure they rectified it and they ended up getting me a vehicle that was amazing the new Honda Accord 2021 it was everything I needed and more they also took care of me for my birthday and made sure that I was happy with my new rental even though for 2 days I lost being able to really travel and do anything so they did their best to make it up and I appreciate that.
I feel as though they take advantage of persons whose first language is not English. Sisters husband does not read English well, asked to be told all charges upfront. After the fact found out he was charged $21 dollars daily for Ezpass rental. Overcharge was $500.00+. For an item he barely used. I feel as though this is short sighted for Budget Car as they will be visiting for years to come and we will not be willing to rent a vehicle from persons who are not upfront on charges or willing to negotiate once the oversight is discovered. Very upsetting to us as a matter of principal more than a matter of the money.
They are operating out of a trailer in a parking lot with only 1 employee with several counters. I as a “fastbreak” member have no privilege even thought I have already prepaid everything for a 4 door Jeep Wrangler. I get my vehicle that realized after I was far from the premises that had a crack windshield, paint overspray all over the exterior, “snack stick” plastic wrappers in the floor and the cherry on top is that the dash tray had MARIJUANA residue inside of it (see pictures attached), I’m pretty sure budget can confirm this by looking at the booth cameras from the person that delivered before me. Then I tried calling every possible number for hours and no one picked to the phone. Good Job Budget in up charging and giving people nothing.
Check your car carefully when you take it out and bring it back. Staff there might be incentivized to try to hit you with extra fees. It would be advised to document the exact condition of the car with photos and videos to use when fighting back against fees. In my case I was very glad I had the photo documentation to get them to drop an erroneous fee.
Fraudulent and Hidden Charges!Thought I was paying for $201.66 + TaxLook at these fraudulent surcharges/fees Budget Rental charges you behind the curtain and hides it until your credit card is charged.I’m here sharing this so you do not feel cheated. I’m attending a wedding and flying in from West Coast. I really wish I did not already pay for the reservation…SMHI would recommend you choose a different rental service. I might even recommend you to check out Turo Rental!I’m very upset right now and this is all I can do.I would request everyone to please help me get 72 people to not make reservations with Budget Rentals.Budget Rentals are cheaters!
Representatives could not explain how to locate Budget at airport which made me late to pick it up. I had to ask someone at the airport. After I got the van I asked to switch to a different vehicle because initial van was dirty and had cloth seats. They were able to do this. Next van I was given had a low tire message on the dash. A representative took the car to get it filled and then pointed out that that van was dirty. Finally got the van and called to complain. A representative said they could send me a $40 coupon for next time. Later on I was on my way to my destination and caught a flat tire. We found out the van had no spare tire or tools to change a tire. I had my whole family in the vehicle. We were lucky to be near a tire shop who was able to replace the tire. I had to pay for it and submit for possible reimbursement. Then I had to go and get another vehicle at an airport the following day because who wants to drive a vehicle with no spare. I had to wait there for one big enough to accommodate us. The amount of time I lost going through all of this was ridiculous. I was late to the wedding and then stuck in a ton of traffic trying to get to my final destination after stopping to get the alternate vehicle. All of this while having to speak to several not so pleasant Budget reps on the phone. At this moment I have been on hold trying to place a complaint over the phone for the last half hour because no one apparently knows how to get me to the correct person. Worst rental experience I have ever had. Complete nightmare especially for the 610 that I had to pay plus the almost 90 for the tire!!
Made reservations for 630pm after my flight. I take the air train to budget and from there it was a mess. waited over 30 minutes for a car. there was only 1 customer service rep attending all the clients and he was slow. I travel often and this is by far the last time I use budget. poor customer service and poor time management!
It was a long wait to get a car, but when we got the car, it was a nice new one, very clean and drove well. Staff was very helpful when dropping it off. Thanks!
Arrivedat the airport traveling to Coneticut for my Daughters wedding, after waiting in the Office trailer for quite awhile with only one person working.I was rented a car and told to go to Avis to pick it upI put my luggage in the trunk. the car was dirty opened the drivers door and car smelled like cigarette smoke. Walked all the way back to rental trailer and explained I couldnt have a car that smells like that. I was given a Black Nissan Altima to replace it. This car was dirty on the outside but fairly clean in the inside.I checked out at the exit and asked for an inspection because of the normal wear and tear this car had. He assured me the cameras pick up any major damage.I returned the car 4 days later a nice gal checked me back in we walked around car and I let her know a turn signal bulb was not working she and I checked to find inoperative one and she wrote it on drivers side passenger window. A month later I received a bill in the mail for front end damage $700 and the picture and estimate do not show any damage I can see in the photos. I used to work for Budget and this service is completely unacceptable. Had there been damage she would have noted at the time I dropped it off . I feel this is plain and simple a dishonest business practice. Also $525 rental for 3 days is absurd.
We got to the office at 6:45 pm and finally got the car at 9:15 pm. There were 20 people in line before us with one employee working. We were trying to drive back to Albany, NY. By the time we got the broken and dirty minivan, we could have definitely been home. The employee was texting on her phone when we finally got up to the desk as well. Further it took them TWENTY MINUTES TO PHYSICALLY DRIVE THE CAR TO US. THEY WOULD NOT LET US WALK TO IT. Horrific service and judging by the reviews, this is standard service at this location. They KNEW the amount of reservations they have but staffed at the absolute bare minimum. DISGUSTING AND NEVER AGAIN IM TELLING EVERYONE I KNOW TO AVOID BUDGET CAR RENTAL!!!
Worst rental experience Ive ever had. The car smelled like mildew, was dinged up pretty bad for being an “upgrade”. They are the least advertised on the road at Newark, so you’ll likely miss the turn multiple times trying to return the car. they dont answer the phone. I had to go to enterprise to get help to find the drop off. Then when getting to the drop off no one is there to assist with a return. No signage saying where to drop the car off. I just said screw it and parked in a spot and found a rental agen inside (which did nothing but waste time) It’s one of the most poorly ran facilities I’ve ever seen in my life. I mean at least be somewhat professional and have accurate signs to return your car.
I waited for over an hour in a un air conditioned trailer. The rep was pleasant. But the wait was horrible.
We traveled to New York from California to attend our sons wedding in Brooklyn. I waited as standing on the line for 2 hours to get to the counter, then, finally I was given the rental voucher. The staff told me that it will take another 10-15 minutes to get the car since its on the washing. It took another 30 minutes waiting outside. I arrived the Budget rental around 6 pm and it was almost 9 pm. Then the car showed up and the driver disappeared without saying anything. I took some photos to make sure everything all right. It was already dark and I was trying to figure out how to operate the car. I was so tired and drove to Brooklyn from EWR airport. I paid the toll with cash entire of the travel including driving down to philadelphia and back to EWR. On the last day, the toll cash lady asked me if I had the Easy Pass and I said I dont have one, and paid cash again. On the way back to EWR, I found out that there was a Easy pass opened on the front windshield. I never knew that I paid the toll twice cash and Easy pass every time. I was very frustrated and angry about the bad exercise this Budget company doing. I read the sign that the Easy pass will charge $21 each day. So I was not intending to use it and I did not asked to a staff. I was driving the car with the Easy Pass opened which I didnt realize it.
First of all, this place is running out of a mobile home with one guy working there. Credit card system took like 10 minutes to hold a deposit because it was that slow, and this place is just completely unprofessional. If you see this review, dont even think about reserving a car here. I was supposed to receive a Volkswagen Jetta, but they gave me a Nissan Sentra... I drove it a couple hours since it was night time and next morning, I look at the rear tires. The rear tires had absolutely no tread at all, so they dont inspect these cars for safety at all. This is completely unacceptable to give to a customer, I could have easily hydroplaned and crashed on these type of tires. I talked with the manager and he said I will receive a $50 refund for this issue, and nothing was ever processed. Terrible management and I dont appreciate you lying to me. I will never use Budget at EWR airport again. The front bumper was also sticking out. The car was a piece of junk, and I will never come back here again. Avoid this place at all costs. Attached pictures below.
The manager (a middle eastern male) was inconsiderate and rude. He used a hostile tone when I attempted to explain a concern and a need for a certain type of seating in a car. Please know that the other staff was courteous and were empathetic to my medical concern. He repeatedly told me that he did not care and did not want to hear my concern during my pickup after the vehicle that I reserved was not available. He told me that he would cancel my reservation and not provide a refund.
Horrible customer service. Will never rent from budget again. People at this location are not helpful or available. Shut down early and refused to help me. Spend the extra $20 and rent from a good company like enterprise.
The vehicle was just what I needed. Although the counter agent had to go outside and locate a suitable vehicle himself.
Way over priced and it cost even more than they claimed. Pick up at the counter was very slow, drop off was good.
Upon returning my car, there were NO Budget employees in the lot to direct us. There was a group of six who arrived at the same time. The nice lady from the SIXT company directed us to pull through. Still no Budget employee was there to guide us or check us in. We continued up and one man stopped and got out of his car to see if he could see anyone. Another just pulled over. I was the third car and I looped back around and went back to the entry. Again the SIXT lady was there and she told me I should park and take my key inside. I did this. I had all my items with me, it was hot, and I had a broken finger. I was struggling. I did forget to put my mask on as I walked into the office to drop off my key. I went to the counter and told the woman no one was outside and here was my key. She waved me off. I put my key down and told her my car was in space 204. I never got any kind of receipt for the car.
In Newark where i picked up my car we had a long wait due to lack of agents and the car had a bad smell 😒
They are nothing but common thieves. I rented a car for 3 days. They changed my credit card for additional 4. $1500 . I have tried time and time again to call them to fix this. Still to this day the 18th June 2021. 14 days later. Never again rental car from budget
Pulled in early in the morning to return a car. It look it took literally 3 minutes. Fast, easy process.
I am a fastbreak member. When I arrived at the pickup area, the fast break kiosk was empty. I waited 45 minutes in line. Then, the car I reserved--a Toyota Camry (or similar) wasnt available. I was offered a Ford Pickup as an alternative. That was unacceptable. I then waited an additional 10 minutes and was offered a Nissan van with 43K miles that reeked of cigarette smoke. We were told there were no other cars, so we accepted it. It was especially unpleasant because we had the car for 10 days and did a lot of driving
When there is an safety issue with the vehicle, I would inform one of the attendants of the problem and it falls on death ears. Several people rent these vehicle with different driving skills. If its a safety issue upon returning the vehicle, customers should know who to speak to regarding this matter.
I reserved a minivan several weeks in advance for a family vacation. I checked filled out the pre checkin forms to save time. When arriving to pickup, I was told no minivans were available. Instead they rented me a large SUV with low gas mileage that cost around $100 more to fuel over the long trip. The employees seemed to be moving purposefully slow and it took nearly 40 minutes to receive the vehicle in spite on being the only person there very early in the morning. At no point did they check my insurance or check the vehicle as well. We hit traffic on the way back, and I arrived to return the vehicle at 11:55pm, 5 minutes before closing, to find all budget employees were gone and the doors locked. After walking in the rain for 15 minutes trying to find a budget representative, a rep from another rental company told me to go to Avis. It was thirty minutes past midnight before I left, directly into a flash flood. This was an extremely bad experience and I will be avoiding and warning friends and colleagues against budget in the future.
Check in was fast and easy, car was clean and drove well. I had to extend my rental and was able to do so easily. Drop off was also fast and easy.
Worst rental: went to location, told us we had to wait an hour and come back. Went there in Uber to tell us we couldn’t even use the card we had to pay. Had to Uber back and waist more than $70 rather than initially tell us the payment plan.
Very good price. Nice car. I forgot my phone in the car and I had no problems at all to pick it up after 2 days.
When I landed in Newark airport I waited over an hour to get my car. People in the line were telling me that they had been waiting over two hours. This is completely unacceptable there was one agent eventually followed about a half hour later by another. The process was slow and everyone was getting upset and they were not giving answers to anyone in line. The worst customer service and a horrible experience. If you can use any rental car service why would anyone use Budget? You guys are by far the worst I have ever experienced!
Worst customer service. The person over the counter was very rude in explaining the features and options. It is like take it or leave it. I will never ever rent a car from Budget.
At the rental center in Newark (Aug 26, 2021, Thursday at around 5 pm) waited in line for approximately 2 hours to get the car keys. There was a long line of approximatly 50 people and only one person working at the counter.
Ive rented from Avis and Budget before, but whoever is the independent contractor for the Newark airport is a grifter. Budget gave me a dirty car on empty, I complained about it, was told it would be noted and ok. When I returned it, they attempted to charge me for a full tank of gas. I called the company and had them erase the charge. However, then I got a bill for a $450 cleaning fee. If this goes through, I will not pay it either. What is troubling here is the while the car I was rented was dirty, it wasnt $450 dirty. The claim was a charge was for excessive sand. I believe they own a vacuum at the rental office. They should try to use it. Absolutely horrid experience.
4 star for opening at 6am and not being a 24/7 service at the airport. I had to kill 1 hour of time since i.landed at ewr as the kiosk did not.open until 6am. but 5 stars for the service received at the kiosk. Great customer service and got.an upgrade as well. Will definitely book again.
I was able to rent the type of car that I needed and the checkout was very easy.
Desk closed down with a huge line and sent us all to Avis. 50 people and 1 attendant - are you kidding! This is not a surprise as all the reservations are already made - poor management
Not only was the guy super RUDE (black guy with a thick accent), I had to go 2 days of my vacation without a vehicle. I don’t understand why ya’ll will allow me to PAY with my debit card and then not accept it for the deposit! Also wouldn’t allow me to transfer the reservation to my sister who was standing right there with a “major” credit card. Then you have the AUDACITY to charge me a cancellation fee as though it was MY CHOICE. I will NEVER use Budget again and I will tell every single person I know to go elsewhere.
1. Car had ants. 2. It smelled like a dog and upholstery was covered with dog hairs. 3. Inside and outside of windshield was very dirty.. and there was no windshield washer fluid!!! And I was driving west into the sun.
The rental process online is efficient and I receive good value for my money. The cars are up-to-date. Budget is available at all the airports I use. Fastbreak is helpful although inconsistent by store.
The rental process went snag free. cars were available to fit my need. The free option to return to another neighboring airport earned Budget my two thumbs up.
Avoid this place and the company in general. Had a very specific question and tried repeatedly to contact the Newark location. The phone number automatically goes to a corporate prompt as permitted by our corporate office. So contacting any budget location is next to impossible unless they decide to open up their lines....get the impression reading these reviews about Newark it doesnt happen often. If a company wont talk to me, happy not to talk to them
Pick up and return were simple and efficient. But had to call roadside assistance and had to cancell request since they couldnt provide any idea on how much it would cost on the final bill.
Professional staff, and super friendly, and helpful. Easy pick-up, and easy return.
Gave me a vehicle that was overdue for registration by a year. Had that towed, had to Uber back to the rental area the next day. The first car they tried to give me was 2 months expired. They need to get something fixed. Awful experience.
Terrible place. They added extra stuff on my reservation. Made my Corporate card declined when I got to my hotel. Will never be using this place again. Also my car had soda all over. Very dirty.
Horribly inefficient and understaffed location. 50 customers in line, all waiting for 2 representatives. A great model to frustrate employees and customers alike.
The first car Ireceived was ok below 30 MPH, and terrible at highway speed. I had to return it for a safer vehicle. The return process went well so I would use Budget again. Mary at Stewart Airport was extemely helpful in providing me with a safe rental.
The RaTeS Were Very Reasonable & the Vehicle Was Just As Reserved! 💯👍🏾
Terrible 1 hour 45 minutes in a hot trailer to pick it up on a Thurs night 2 people working one went to dinner. Did not have my car sent me to Avis. Returning just as bad not clearly marked where to return car. Only 1 person working will not recommend Budget and I am a Fastbreak member for over 20 years.
We were given a car that could not accommodate the USB port for the phone and GPS. after that the second car had a major tire blowout 5 miles into the trip. Road Assistance never picked up the call for us to get help in a strange city and neighborhood. Had to call my AAA service to get a tow truck back to the airport to return the car as we could not drive it back in the condition it was in. Told by customer service there was no cars available at our original pickup and had to go somewhere else to get a new car which was totally unacceptable because we did not even know how to get to the original location yet alone a new one. When the tow driver got us back we were sent to a different car rental company to pick up an assigned car which was driven off by a different driver. Returned to Budget and were given a new car from their lot without the easy pass we had paid for. told that would be fine and to just go through the toll plazas. All in all we landed before 10am in the morning, had almost a 5 hour delay to get a car and ended up missing our 4pm check in. It was not a good experience when you do not get a person to talk to about an emergency road side assistance and you are stuck on the side of the road for over 3 hours without any help from the car rental company. Not a good way to do business. We had no response to the phone numbers provided by the car rental company and only did get back to the rental car center by having a personal AAA membership with towing.
Newark is usually a nightmare. Your facility was easy to reach, efficient, good prices and friendly. I have now switched to Budget for all my travel.
I got to Newark in storm hurricane last night There was 1 staff who did not speak good English I could not understand where was A # He felt to tell me I have to walk thru different lot on other side of Avis office While I had reservation w buget I went out in rain 3 times back and forth It was horrible your customer service is awful Your staff lack manners and communication skills Would never use this place and Do not recommend it Just acted inhumane toward me
I always rent with Budget, Tiffany the Budget Rep when or if I see her is always professional and friendly each time.
Your Customer Service Representative was most welcoming and courteous.
Unbelievably poor experience. No Fastbreak option available even though it was listed in my confirmation and online reservation, and only one attendant there when I arrived, with a line well over 30 people long. After waiting in the line for over an hour and a half, the reservation agent, who had since been joined by a fill-in from the Avis desk, informed me that they didnt have my vehicle ready for me despite my flight arriving half an hour late and an additional 90 minutes waiting in line. He requested a vehicle from the Avis pool which took another 20 minutes to arrive. I was so late that I missed the event my friends had planned for over six months out, and I do not plan to use this service ever again without a Fastbreak kiosk or lane. Utterly unacceptable, please consider spending your money with a business with practices that show they value customers.
$297 for A 1 DAY RENTAL! IM AN HOUR AND A HALF LATE AND YOU CHARGE ME $178+ nEVER AGAIN!!
Good prices, great service
Poorly maintained and incredibly short staffed. Super awesome for them to block the exit on the way out as well.
The vehicle that was issued to me wasnt properly inspected. I recieved my vehicle with low tire pressure and had to constantly add air pressure on a daily.
One star is to much for this place I called to book a car and I asked if I could use my probationary license on the phone they said yes I spend 80 dollars on Uber to get there so they can tell me I can’t use it worst place ever
Security deposits are really high, they are not open 24hrs, cannot return the car until they open in the morning. Almost missed my flight due to no drop off facility. But staff are good and got a good suv. Location EWR airport.
Great experience. Good car. No hassles!
Worst experience ever. I do not recommend. Very bad costumer service.
The car we were originally given had a huge bubble in the tire and the agent was very rude and unhelpful and when we were finally given a different car, the windshield and side mirrors were so dirty we could barely see out of the window! and the car i requested was not given to me but something not even comparable.
I was charged an additional $296 after I returned a pre-paid rental. I have contacted customer service several times and the call is disconnected, busy signal or the the agent refuses to assist with having a manager help. This is horrible service to charge an additional $296 AFTER pre-paying for a rental.
They charged me $450 detailing charge because the letter said there was dirt and Sand in the car When I called they said no there was lint left in the carThey then sent me a picture showing crumbs which most of been from there service people because this car was left pristine inside. With the pandemic budget has had some tough times in revenue and they are resorting to deceptive means for producing income. I have rented cars for 50 years and never had one problem but then again I only used Avis and Hertz and thrifty. I suggest you do the same
Truck was dirty wasnt clean, has damage both bumpers and scratches all around. Can look at rental agreement was written by budget employee before releasing the truck
Picking up car was terrible very slow customer service
At Newark Airport where we picked up, the people working there were extremely rude to me, my husband and my family. My husbands mask slipped under his nose, as he juggled 4 suitcases and 4 children. I understand being terrified of covid, but they were behind the glass for crying out loud. Being nasty to customers, is just wrong. There are nice ways to say things. I wont be using budget again
Didnt have any problem with the office employees.
