Has Great customer service the greeter Texia made me feel great with all the knowledge she had to put me in a great car for the week much blessing young Soul.
I only give it a a four because the guy attending the counter was very polite and very personable he even had a sense of humor. However, the older guy outside needed an attitude adjustment, seems he woke up really grumpy then got out of the wrong side of the bed. I did get a very nice car but its dirty. Usually alamo is a pretty good experience. But sometimes lately when I have been traveling I have used other rental companies because they have been cheaper and the thats renting a premium model (SIXT) a nice big Volvo two months ago from Newark Airport as well.
Thought they were going to charge me for the weed smell in the car until I had to explain the difference from the smell of weed smoke and an ounce of some loud smelling unsmoked weed Thanks for understanding 🙃
Ive had mixed experiences here. A couple weeks ago, no problems, lots of options. This last time though, they ran out of cars, and were giving out luxury cars instead. Im sure most people would be happy with that, but between the 45 minute wait and not getting a simple car like I wanted, it wasnt my best experience.

I would rate negative score if it is possible. I reserved car at 2pm...but wait more than one hour to pick the car.. There is no explanation why it takes so long. Its totally ridiculous and a joke. Will never rent from Alamo anymore.
If I could leave zero stars I would. I arrive for my vehicle and they don’t have vehicles in my class ready for pickup. I agree to change classes for a specific pickup truck that the desk agent states they have on the lot. I go outside and they do not have the truck. They try to put me in a different truck and at this point I state I’m not comfortable driving that truck due to its size. The person helping me walks away. I start to talk with another car handler and discuss what vehicle I would like to take and give them multiple options. After thirty minutes he states he has one of the 10 vehicles on my list (he has two of the ten options but refuses to put me in one of them bc of my age even though I have driven said vehicle in another state). He tells me it will be 30 minutes to clean the vehicle. I agree. During this waiting period the original car handler whips around with the truck I already stated I’m uncomfortable with driving. I continue to sit. The handler then SCREAMS on the top of his lungs at me to take the vehicle. I refuse and he attempts to force other customers to take the vehicle. Meanwhile people are being thrown in random clean cars and not getting up charged. I finally get the car I waited for to be cleaned. However, the exterior is filthy and who knows if the inside was even disinfected. At this point I’ve had enough and leave. It took over an hour to get a car that I had a reservation for. I call and request a call back from a branch manager. When I finally get in contact with the manager he speaks over me the entire time, is rude, and doesn’t care what I have to say. To shut me up he takes away the unnecessary up charge. At no point did he apologize for the aggressive and careless actions of his employees. I will never rent from this Alamo again. Disgraceful to say the least.
No cars upon check-in! One staff member wasnt wearing a mask despite NJ mandates. Manager made sexist comments to my wife when confronted about the car situation and said I dont care, theyre not going to fire me or anything. I realize things are difficult right now but I expected a company like Alamo to do better. We wont be using them in the future.
Everything went very smoothly with my rental. The reservation was easy to make and very clear. Getting from the airport to pick up area was fast and convenient. Checking in was a breeze and my car was ready. The car was clean and everything was working as it should. The car got great gas mileage. Returning the car was quick and the attendant was super nice and super friendly. I would not hesitate to rent from Alamo in Newark again
Very long wait at the desk to get the car, but everything else was great. The Jeep Compass was very nice. Drop off was easy.
If Google would let me leave 0 stars, I would. Over the holiday weekend, they had one person working their counter for a while. We waited over an hour to pickup our car as the agents did their up-selling routine; held up people’s cars/the line over address verification; etc. Don’t rent from here. Pay a bit more to rent through Avis next door.
This is based on the one and only time I used Alamo landing at MCO back in 1991. Horrible experience. I wonder if they’ve improved.
The Alamo location at EWR (Newark Airport) is phenomenal. Gail, as well as the whole staff, are real down to earth people. They make the rental experience flawless and are always ready to help if you need to adjust your plans last minute. The whole staff, including those who collect the cars at drop off, are professional and personable. On my multiple rentals from this location, no matter the time, the staff is alert and ready to send you on your way with ease. The staff is why I rent from Alamo at EWR.
This is the second time I rented from here but the staff are not that friendly or need to work on their attitude. When picking up a car the national rental guy that stands outside will point the car for you and you go ahead and pick it up with no options provided. It could he because of this pendemic it could people here are just not in a good mood but its what its.
VERY POLITE, FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL STAFF. VERY AFFORDABLE RATE; FLEXIBLE TIME FRAME TO RETURN VEHICLE; EASY RETURN PROCESS. I HAVE USED THEM BEFORE AND I WILL USE THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
Only complaint was the time it took at the check in window with limited staff while manager talked to people but didnt actually work to help the line get served quicker. ALL other staff we encountered went above and beyond in their commitment to customer service. Returning the car was the fastest airport check in Ive ever had and everyone was so friendly and helpful to my mom and me. Thanks for making our vacation travel go smoothly!

The station manager Jerombi gave us her card and made sure we had the names of the 2 very competent team members who assisted us. Friendly, helpful, and welcoming to 2 older travelers made our car renting effortless.

By checking in for my rental in advance, I was given a bar code on my phone so I could bypass the counter and go straight to the garage to pick a car. The instructions said the cars would be arranged by category so I could easily pick a car from my category.However, there was no arrangement of the cars. They were completely random. No way to tell which car was a mid size SUV. The example of that category given on the website was a Nissan Rogue, so we wandered around until we found one. It wasnt parked by an Alamo sign, nor was there anything in or on the car that would tell us it was an Alamo car. We got in and drove to the exit.There I was greeted by an agent who wanted my paperwork. I showed her the bar code on my phone and she responded that they werent supposed to be doing that. Nonetheless she scanned the bar code and the keys, pointed out that she couldnt print me a rental agreement, and hand-wrote the RA number on a map.The car itself was fine, nearly new. And the return process was very efficient. We were promptly met by an agent who scanned the cars bar code and printed out a receipt.
Made reservation online for a small SUV the night before for 48 hours (cheapest rate we could find at the airport) - we were headed to the Poconos in Pennsylvania for some skiing.Check-in was quick & friendly - we provided ID & credit card, they asked which airline we flew in on & we said Emirates the night before & we declined insurnace so they asked our insurance carrier & we said Allstate. We were provided the paperwork & directed to the garage. To our surprise the lady went to go get our SUV & wed been upgraded to a luxury black BMW X2 👍 - my spouse was quite happy with the zippy hatchback.Returning was quite painless, we filled up the tank before arriving, left the remote keys on the drivers seat & they checked us out. There were no additional fees/charges applied to my rental. Note: I did pay $1 cash at 1 of the tolls we ran into vs using the toll tag on the car - which prob would have created additional charge(s).
First time car renter with Alamo. My service was great. A lady named Jamie helped get us started on our way. She was out going and a delight to speak to. She explains the service clearly and we could tell she enjoys her job. New Jersey could use a whole lot of Jamies. Im from S.C. And because she was so friendly and helpful I do give them a high five and her a ten. Alamo you should give her a GOLD STAR.
Upon landing, we double checked Travelocity rates and found Alamo offered better rates and quickly switched to Alamo for a small savings. The car was in good condition. Unlike their competitors at other airports, there were no stickers on the car or review mirror tags indicating the cars were COVID-19 cleaned. After driving for 30 minutes, I noticed the left signal indicator light was broken. Clearly, the Alamo car prep team missed the mark. During a pandemic, it is amazing that there is no universal standard dictated by the franchisors to the franchisees on how to approach the customer experience.
Service was great! Friendly staff all around. Just before we drove off, we were stopped and told our vehicle had a recall. They quickly switched our car with a upgrade for the inconvenience. THAT is how customer service is done ladies and gentlemen. Now Ill be a loyal Alamo customer. Check In was quick and painless. Car was clean and new. Look forward to our next rental.

The 2019 car rented at Alamo in Newark was what I was expecting in a mid sized vehicle. It had great gas mileage and sized appropriately for our travels. It had the bells and whistles found on new cars which helped. My only complaint is that we were told that it had a sensor for Express Lane tolls, but it didnt. Hopefully, I wont be fined for using the express lanes.
Everything went smoothly and each of the Alamo employees I encountered was polite and knowledgeable. The car was last years model but performed perfectly over my 1,100-mile trip. Ill definitely consider them first for my next rental.
Worst possible place to rent a car. We paid in full 3 weeks ago for a premium SUV. We fly from Florida to NJ are are told we can not have a SUV. Save your money and aggravation. Hey a taxi or Uber somewhere else and rent

Quick rental process, agent offered free upgrade, SUV was clean and operated well. Customer service friendly and fast. Return was hassle free. There are some hidden fees, charges. But, better than most rental car companies.

I always use Alamo for my car rental needs. I find the Newark Liberty International team efficient and courteous. The service line moves quickly and I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes to receive my vehicle. I also like to take advantage of the Manager’s Special. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the vehicle I ended up with each time. Finally, Alamo’s prices are by far the best.
We needed a last minute car rental, because I had accidentally left my personal car keys in the rental car in California. They quickly got me set up in a cost effective car rental that was the right size for what I needed. They also contacted the Alamo at LAX to help me find my keys.
I rent cars often and usually sit in the car for the first few minutes figuring basic functions such as lights, seat adjustment, etc. I very much appreciated that the gentlemen walked me to my car and took the time to show me what I would need to know. I didnt ask to be shown, he just took the initiative do that. Much appreciated!
My husband and I were very happy with the car and service we received at Newark, NJ Airport. Charles Hackley was the person that greeted us. He was professional, kind, and courteous. He took the time to review the vehicle we were renting and asked us if we had any additional questions.
If your flight lands after midnight, please be aware that it’s going to take an hour or two to receive service due to their being one employee who provides service to the National Car Rental and the Alamo Car Rental customers.When I arrived an hour ago, there were ten people in front of me. One hour later, there are six people still in front of me.A productivity team may be able to see that the overnight shift needs more support if the wait time is this long for a reservation already made online. The employee here is very pleasant and professional, but he needs support.
I signed up for the Managers Special which was not that different from some other prices that I found for Alamos other cars. I explained that I was taking a long trip, 600 miles each way to Ohio, and that I wanted a car that got good gas mileage. They gave me a Nissan pickup that got 18 miles per gallon, necessitating spending an absolute fortune on gas. It was obscene. The service at the desk was fine, but when I explained that I needed something with good gas mileage she tried to upgrade me to a full-size car, may have been $1 per day different, which was now $11. If I had realized that I was going to get a car with such terrible gas mileage, Id have upgraded, but I had no idea they were going to give me such a dog. Rates were reasonable, but this request was not taken seriously, hence the two stars. The attendant in the lot who chose the car for me even said, I got you. when I said I need something with a decent engine but good gas mileage. So much for that.
We rented a car for one day before flying home from NYC at the Newark Airport. We want to highly commend the exceptional customer service that Chuck Hackley showed us. He went beyond the call of duty in every way. Thank you Chuck and Alamo.As for Alamo Corporate, why ask for a $250 deposit just because we did not fly in that day? Makes no sense to me and counter agent could not give a reason either.
This was one of the best rental car experiences I have had in a long time. I usually do not write reviews - but because this was such a great experience - I felt I should review. The employees were friendly and helpful. Check in and return was fast. The car was excellent. They even greeted us with cold water which was awesome after a 12 hour flight. Highly recommend Alamo at Newark Airport!!
This place is outstanding! Gail at the counter was friendly, welcoming, and great! Jasmine who got our vehicle was outgoing and very nice as well also! The staff here goes above and beyond! The wait time to get to the counter to out of the lot was minimal and compare to other places in general very fast. Though driving in and around EWR is we dreadful due to traffic the staff at Alamo puts you in a better mood before you have to face that!
Unfortunately my experience with the Alamo rent a car was not good. The associate that helped select my car was very pushy to upgrade and told me incorrect info about the easy pass for tolls which then caused me to stop at every toll get out and pay by credit card when all she had to do was give me one.The car smelled bad too. It smelled like someone had smoked in it and then sprayed something to try and cover it which made it smell even worse.I have a rental for 3/6 with Alamo that I will be cancelling and selecting another carrier. I would not recommend Alamo at Newark to anyone for sure.
Its a car rental place, what could be said? Getting out is a death trap and the spots are tight. Being from NJ I got it but visitors, be careful
When I first came here I was told I could rent a car because I was missing some major things required to rent one such as a boarding pass. Was almost s**t out of luck until on of the women at one of the kiosks, Brianne was able to call her supervisor and work something out with my boyfriend and I. We are extremely grateful and will be renting again. She turned a horrible situation into a good one!

Worst experience ever, went there once an I would never ever go back, unprofessional, seemed very stuck up for nothing. Yet I know I make more than all of them. 2 Caucasian males. A red head at the counter... an a slim manager, very self absorbed.
The vehicle was exactly what I requested. It was clean, and in perfect working order. The whole rental experience was a great value and I would recommend Alamo to everyone.
Fairly easy to get to and staff seemed nice They have the option to use kiosks and you can choose your car when you arrive I would book againHowever I gave an average star rating because they flip flop on policies Every location is different when it comes to placing that extra hold fee on your rental This place does and it seems to be at the discretion of the clerkHad a premium rental but with the hold it was over my limit Got downgraded to a standard for somehow more money and ironically no hold charged If the hold wasnt place on the original rental I would be saved a bundle Felt like I got squeezed Of course Alamo had no explanationOther than that it was a good experience Car was clean, new actually Few miles and still had some protective tape on itAlso they do not do a walk around with you so make sure you detail that car yourself before you leave and maybe when you return tooSince its a shared site anything can happen and they might try to point at you
It took us 2 hours to get from the terminal C to Alamos rental desk.Wrong direction information given by people working at the airport, no one sure if it is at P2 or P3 shuttle stop, overall a big challenge to reach the rental desk.The whole Newark airport experience was a bad one for us and although that by itself is not Alamos fault, the fact that we were not given CLEAR DIRECTIONS by the rental company before we got there, is.The return of the car wasnt less challenging.We were happy however with the rented car as well as the pick-up and the return process once we found our way.
Arrived several hours late because of weather related issues. Had a further problem because Id left stuff on the plane. Gail (I think) was at the desk and was incredibly accommodating and helpful. When I finally got to my car, they no longer had compact, so the upgraded me into a brand new (137 miles on the odometer!) Jetta. Could not have been better treated.
I inadvertently reserved my rental car for 12pm on the day I arrived at the airport, but actually picked up my car around 9am - three hours early. Upon returning the car, I noticed that this triggered an additional charge. However, I called customer service and was almost immediately on the line with a representative who helped me, and a manager quickly refunded me the excess amount, even though I acknowledge that it was my mistake. Alamo has always provided customer service that is far beyond other rental car companies, so I keep coming back.
Good cars and service. Thankfully able to rent and return with ease. Best prices for last minute rentals AND at the airport which offers 24 hour service! They have kiosks where you can get full check in including the keys . I know I will be renting from them again.

I rented a full-size car at Newark airport for six days at a very good last-minute rate (booked 4 days before). The total price was only twenty dollars more than the cost of an economy rental and after fees and taxes worked out to thirty-eight bucks a day. Overall I was very happy with the condition of the vehicle and the overall rental experience. The car was almost new, it drove great, and I had no issues whatsoever. The pick-up and drop-off went quickly and smoothly and the employees were helpful and friendly. I will definitely keep Alamo at the top of my list for rental cars.
Reserved a car months in advance, signed up for avoiding the line and using the kiosk. When the time came I used the kiosk and it said something about I was chosen for the choose your own car option. I took my documents to the lot and got a car, upon getting to the exit the person could not find my information in the system and had to re-enter everything, she also needed my keys meaning no AC while it was like 97 degrees and 100% humidity. To top it off the final bill on return was about $100 more than my reservation even though I had chosen all of the same options. I do have to say everyone was polite and professional BUT there seems to be a disconnect between what we do online vs kiosk.Update: Ill give +2 stars for getting credited the difference in price from what I had booked. I appreciate it.

Ive had a great experience with Alamo in recent months having experienced great customer service in both their Denver and Newark airport locations. In Newark, they worked to get me the car I had my heart set on and then took the time to show me some of the tricks of using the car (folding down the back seat to give us more trunk space, etc). It was a very low stress, positive interaction. I will rent with Alamo on my next journey.

Checked in online before I got to the airport. Was very easy to pick up car & was able to avoid the counter. Car was clean, staff was helpful. very smooth drop off also. Only issue we had was the air train to the rental location at Newark airport directed us to the wrong pick up area. ( via a recording for the stops) the signage had a different location listed. The reason I gave 4 stars. we had to get off & back on the air train.
Standard car rental. Theyre friendly and attentive except did not give instructions on returning process. Went to return the car at 4am due to 6am flight..there was no one at the drop offs so we had no idea how to go about it til someone else dropping their car informed us to park the car and drop the key in the drop off box inside the building. Thank God.

I could not ask for a better car rental service transaction! I had just arrived from Paris, and last minute decided I would get home much faster if I rented a car and drove home. The woman at the counter finished everything in less than one minute! I got a great deal, and had a car in seconds. I was so happy to be going home and appreciate their courteous service. I rented an compact car, super brand new Toyota I believe I was the first to use it. I got a super awesome deal, $22/day close to NYC. Unbelievable. Their customer service is just great. I walked in, in 5 minutes I was outta there with my nice borrowed temp car. I was impressed by the customer service and by their deals.You wont be disappointed! Thx to people holding up Alamo.
I lost my wallet in the rental after I dropped it off and I was please to know that they found it and all of my money was still inside. I ended up giving Ashley a $100 tip. This was The Newark Airport location.... love yall for life

Tracy Beaton provided exceptional service upon arrival, remedying a computer glitch with my reservation quickly, calmly, and efficiently. The man helping me get my car after reservation was just as wonderful, picking out a Buick SUV since it would be the best in the snow. The man who checked me back in was equally pleasant and efficient. It was amazing service all around!
The person who waited on me at the counter was FANTASTIC ! He gave me good directions to my destination & told me which route to avoid.The Female who checked me back in at the airport was FANTASTIC too.Friendly & efficient.The only weak link was the female who brought the rental car around to me.She didnt say much, or care one way or another about showing/telling me anything about the features of the car.

Friendly staff. Getting out the final gate took 20+ minutes due to lack of sufficient manpower out there. But my associate explained in detail how the EZ-Pass worked to get through the never-ending tolls in the area. That she took whatever time I needed was reassuring and welcome.
