The dentist and her team were very good to work with. She was very compassionate with me and spent a significant amount of time attempting to settle me down. The team are very supportive and very willing to assist. She is very polite and takes the time to explain what has to be done as well as provide helpful advice. Finding a good dentist for your tooth trouble is not straightforward. Their den comes highly recommended from me.

I called to make a teeth whitening appointment for 2, and upon asking about why the price was twice the amount of any other cosmetic salon in the area. The woman on the phone said that I should “give them a call then” and hung up the phone instead of explaining the price. Not the best customer service. Wouldn’t recommend.

I wasnt sure how to rate this place. My first visit for a cleaning was very pleasant. The staff is very nice and the office is very clean. Its also very cold in the office so either bring a jacket or they have blankets for you which is nice.My second visit for a filling was however less pleasant. They numbed me and then left me for 35 minutes by myself. Then the dentist came again and numbed me a second time because I was there for so long. Let me tell you, sitting alone at the dentist with a numb mouth, not the best. And I was annoyed that I had to get numbed a second time. The rest was okay but I wish they didnt leave me because the appointment took way longer then they said it would.Overall it was just okay. I know they do invisalign here as well.

Updated 8/28/20Finished my rescheduled appt and wanted to update this as they no longer deserve the original 1 star rating from a week ago.Overall a pleasant experience with modern technology and positive staff. The office is a little cramped, but it’s clean and they are doing the best they can with the challenges from covid (everything and one was exceptionally sanitary and attentive).Brenda (apologies if misspelled) was my hygienist and I was excellent - knowledgeable, efficient, and got a very good cleaning.Dr. M was very positive and informative with thorough answers to my many questions and concerns. The metaphors were a bit windy, but I really appreciate the approach of making sure I understood the issues presented from multiple angles.I am considering other services with them, but am admittedly getting some second opinions.New (almost) patient - highly disappointed. I am a resident in the building they are located in. Booked an appointment last week for an early am new patient and was given an hour slot at 7:30am. Staff entered my name wrong in the system, the new patient signup portal didn’t work, I was not seen by reception until 7:40 and then told I would need 2 appointments (aka billed twice) or at least 2 hours with them now bc I was a new patient resulting in me cancelling today and, hopefully rescheduling to a week from Friday. I did not receive a new patient appointment card, confirmation text, or email for my next appointment. The receptionist just said fine then disappeared. To date, my experience has been 0.0% satisfactory and with this much trouble figuring out a basic appointment I am hesitant to let them dabble with my mouth.

Being fairly new to LA, I needed to find a new dentist and am really glad I stumbled on this practice. I have some jaw issues that make most dental work tricky, uncomfortable and often painful. But everyone Ive interacted with here has been top notch. The dentist was as gentle as possible, all things considered, and really seemed to go out of her way to make sure I was comfortable -- super duper grateful for that. The hygienists and assistants are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and scheduling was way easier than Ive experienced at other places in LA. Highly recommend.

Im still glad I did some of my restorations here but...Pros:- theyre very efficient / fast- you can get an appointment very quickly- Dr. Loftus & Henry were great to work with, kind, informative, etc.- they fixed a tooth that 2 other dentists said needed a root canal, without a root canal, just an onlay. I was really thrilled about this!- Im very whimpy but they were pretty nice to me and tried their best to make me feel comfortable and didnt give me a hard time for being kind of a pain in the butt.- they used distraction techniques to help me relax- they never emailed me back about new cost estimates with my 2nd insurance, which was a blessing, considering I found a new dentist with better prices in the mean time, who generally seems to work better for meCons:- welp, they misdiagnosed a tooth as needing a root canal and Im happy to report that my new dentist just cleaned it out without one, and this was done in consultation with an endodontist who said root canal at that stage of cavity (close to nerve but not on it) was too extreme- they were brutal with local anesthetic... swirling the needle- I also felt the drill or some discomfort from it even after 5 shots and basically counted through the discomfort so Dr. could finish. When I did my most recent restoration elsewhere, I couldnt stop shaking before they began, thinking itd be like this again. (Luckily it wasnt.) I found out from this other place that up to 12 shots of lidocaine could be given safely, so why the heck wouldnt they give me more that day?- If I hadnt specifically asked for an onlay, I would have not been offered it.- THE PRICES... Whatever these people quote you at, look for a 2nd and 3rd quote elsewhere. They were a good choice for me at the time, but Im so glad I found my new dentist with normal prices. For reference: an onlay and a filling here cost me $1400 out of pocket, all my restorations were quoted at like $6k out of pocket, and they recommended general anesthesia at whopping $1200/hr, or total over $7k for the time needed. If youre neither a celebrity nor an executive nor have Delta Dental, I really dont recommend this place for you, even if you have an insurance or two. But they do offer financing through CareCredit if youre set on going here. If you just need some cavities cleaned out and restored, for the love of god, dont assume its meant to cost you like $10k... Find a general dentist with normal prices who works with multiple insurance types!

It is super convenient for me and Allison, Fern, Dr. Mungcal and all the staff have always made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I have had a few crowns which have been lengthy procedures but no complaints at all!! Happy to recommend my new dentist to all my family and friends!!

Generally I hate the dentist and avoid going at all costs, but Im new to LA and needed to find a new regular dentist. I was referred to Downtown Dental by Youstina and Im so glad I went. Allison, Brenda, and the rest of the team made sure I was comfortable and talked through every step of my visit. Happy to call this my new regular office.

Im in Invisalign had 4 crowns and 4 root canals done, no pain and quick and easy! My teeth have never been so white, my mouth feels so fresh, my gums dont bleed and I stopped clenching and grinding. Great office, fun staff, good music, they pay for parking and they really take good care of their patients !

This place truly understands what customer experience should be. I went in for a cleaning and was greeted by the lovely staff. The dentist performed a thorough cleaning and explained everything as he went along. He was very gentle.

Everyone at this office is really nice, I like how they take the time to answer any questions that I had.They took my dental insurance which makes everything easier. What I appreciate the most is that they have a parking garage and validate for my entire appointment. The staff here on its own deserves the five stars. Everyone is so friendly and take there time to get to know you as a patient. There very easy to work with on what’s best for you in the long run with insurance and dental care. On top of them making you feel comfortable, you can tell that they actually care about you and your dental health. The parking is also super easy and they validate so you don’t have to pay. I am so glad I came to Downtown Dental. From the moment I walked into the office I was met with a smile and a warm welcome. During my first visit, a dental plan was made for me and they got to work right away. I have never experienced such attention to detail and such excellent customer service at a dental office. During my root canal procedure and fillings everyone was extremely helpful and constantly making sure I was comfortable. Since then, I am encouraging everyone to check out Downtown Dental, they really are amazing.

Allison is amazing, really friendly and warm. She also gave good professional advice for the best treatments. Lupe and Jessica were also very friendly and encouraging. Great service very happy with results. Also very accommodating. I got a deep clean and custom trays and zoom for a reasonable price and they did everything in 2 days 😂

This place has been my dentist my whole life and I wont consider going anywhere else. Everyone is nice and accommodating and the doctor knows his stuff. I just had pinhole gum rejuvenation surgery and the results are awesome. The staff really looks out for your best interest and the doctor will assure you have a great smile...pain free too..

Best dentist experience so far. They printed my crowns in their office and I was done within hours instead of weeks. The environment is very comforting and helped with my anxiety about going to the dentist. Great location and amazing Lounge area. All around great friendly people.

Staff was really nice, but they put pressure on me to come in. I need to get my wisdom teeth taken out, I personally was looking for a place that was equipped to perform the procedure. The lady I spoke with on the phone said that they did perform wisdom teeth removals, I told her I would call them back. She called me back, I didn’t call them back. She in a way pressured me to come in. When I came in, it took them an hour to tell me they couldn’t perform the procedure. Waste of my time. They charged my insurance for looking at my teeth for 2 minutes. I don’t mind that they charged the insurance, just upset that they pressured me to come in just to waste my time.

Downtown Dental is the best! They provide fast, effective service. They also take the time to explain things in terms that are easily understandable. My hygienist Allison is great. Im usually nervous going to the dentist, but she was very gentle. I will definitely be recommending Downtown Dental to all my friends.

I am the poster child for being afraid of dentists after a bad experience with a dentist over 10 years ago. So when I finally found the courage to go to a dentist, this one was recommended to me. After explaining my history with dentists to them and being very uncomfortable and on the verge of having an anxiety attack, this staff was very patient with me. They gave me a warm blanket, soothing talks and tissues to dry my tears as I went through the dental procedure. They even sent me a SIGNED birthday card from the entire staff.

I had an awesome experience here with a root canal. The procedure was painless and my doctor took every step so she could ensure that I stayed comfortable and informed the entire time. 10/10 would recommend!

This place is ace. I moved to LA a few months ago and was looking for a new dentist. I did some internet research and this place looked great because they had pictures of their team on their website. Turns out... they are awesome! Each person on staff was kind, polite, and helpful when ever I had a question. Turns out I needed 4 crowns! They worked my appointments in before I had to travel and did a free follow up to adjust my bite. Also, they can print crowns right in the office so they make sure it fits, matches your teeth, and you dont have to wait for 2 weeks. They even sent a lovely handwritten thank you card to my house after my first visit.

Ive never had a dental experience like this before. Everyone was super friendly and genuinely cared about each patient. They remember you and make an effort to follow up after your visit. Im moving to a different city and they even offered to ship medicine to my new address! Definitely would continue my dental services here!

I had a crown on my front tooth replaced after the 40 year old one fell off.Great dentist great staff! I think it cost about the same as the one I had about 40 years ago only now they can sculpt the new crown while you wait! No more walking around with a David Letterman smile for two weeks. Amazing technology, better materials and perfect attention to detail - the final fit is still done by the skilled hands of the dentist.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mungcal for a lot of years. Our dentist/patient relationship began when I was a struggling student, when I didnt have insurance. Dr. Mungcal and his staff assisted me with finding the appropriate financial assistance to pay for my dental work. I was so grateful because I am the sort of dental patient who is traumatized by the thought of a cleaning, never mind anything more elaborate, and there are very few practices where I would feel truly comfortable. Dr. Mungcal makes me feel completely at ease. He has a low key manner that helps minimize stress and he is thorough and meticulous in his work. The bonus in the practice is the office staff: They have the best customer service, so warm, so charming, and willing to accommodate. Dr. Mungcal and his staff are very committed to the patient relationship and to giving excellent service. I would highly recommend them.

First time coming here and it was by far the best experience I have had!The front office staff was so friendly and welcoming. There is hardly any wait time and they even have water bottles available. I went here for a cleaning. The hygienist said I needed a deep cleaning and had a cavity. I said I only wanted a regular cleaning. Her words: Do you want me to get the doctor? Patronizing, like she was asking if I wanted to see the principal.The doctor came in, and the first thing he said was Well, the good news is no cavities. So that got my distrust meter spiking. He also tried to convince me that a deep cleaning was necessary, and when I refused, he said he would not give me a regular cleaning.So, I left with only my time wasted, thankfully not my money. There seem to be quite a few dentists out there who are pulling this stunt. If you go in for a cleaning without any discomfort, then it is unlikely that more intensive treatment is necessary.

I have never liked going to the dentist but the staff at downtown dental are always professional, friendly and always make me feel at ease. I travel 40-50 min just to go to them. Priyam is great hygienist. Gentle, fast and always leaves my teeth clean and smooth. I highly recommend her.

I just had a filling, ate, and drank some soda... NO PROBLEM! Literally no pain whatsoever. Dr. Mungcal got me real numb and re-did my 10yr. old metal filling with a nice porcelain filling that matches my teeth color. Real gentle, nice, and comfortable service. To top it all off, he got it done in less than an hour leaving me the rest of the day to relax and finally eat with NO PAIN. Give him a visit if youre looking for experienced, fast, and painless service! I mean just look how happy I am in that photo!!!

Really friendly staff when you walk in the doors! They were kind and helpful when I got lost getting to their office- just call in advance and youll be fine. (in my defense Im not used to downtown LA, AND there was construction going on in front of the parking structure when I first visited. Speaking of which, they validate parking so you dont need to worry about that. Just make sure you go to the parking structure under their office) Anyway, Priyam was the dentist I saw. If you want someone professional, knowledgeable, and (you can tell) loves what she does, go see her. She did my initial check up, deep cleaning and gave me a great, detailed explanation on how to take care of my teeth/gums which my previous dentists have ignored/ overlooked. Definitely will come again.

I DONT like pain and they informed me that theyd do their best to make this process pain-free...and they DID.I think Ive found my permanent dentist and I recommend anyone whos searching for a dentist, to try Downtown Dental. I found Downtown Dental by googling dentist in the area I live in. I am so glad I found them. They had so many good reviews I couldnt help, but to call and make an appointment. During my consultation they were able to tell me what all was wrong. I couldnt believe how much work I would need, but I knew I needed it. They helped me set up a CareCredit account to help pay for some of the work I needed. As a college student I greatly appreciate all that they have done for me and did everything they could to help me get the work I needed. I have been there 4 times and all times I loved it! The staff is amazing and the doctors are wonderful. I wouldnt go anywhere else but here!

Ive been going to Downtown Dental for over 4 years now and this place is awesome! Dr. Mungcal is really knowledgeable, very thorough and always has a big smile on his face when I see him. Im really bad about flossing and my hygienist Allison always knows when Im falling behind on taking care of my teeth. Everyone at the front desk is super friendly and always ask me how I am doing. I work freelance so I always have to reschedule my appointments and its always easy to call in and reschedule. The thing I like most about Downtown Dental is that they send me periodic text messages to remind me about my appointments, so I know if I have to reschedule. If youre thinking to yourself, how can this place get any better?. Theres free parking in their garage!

I normal dont do well with dentists and Ive found Downtown Dental to be totally different! I recently got some work done and I couldnt be more pleased with the end result and the service I received. I highly recommend Downtown Dental! After experiencing pain for months I got treated by some of the most experienced doctors and hygienists in the field. The staff was amazingly supportive and very kind. I have only good things to say about Dr. Mungcal, he is truly devoted to his career and I can tell as a new patient. He made me feel comfortable and I felt like I could trust him with something so complicated as a root canal. In general Im not a big fan of the dentist but I actually enjoyed getting treated here. Upon arrival I was greeted by the staff and they were so attentive throughout my whole appointment offering me water and even a blanket. Ive had bad dental experiences in the past and to have found such an amazing and professional doctor like Dr. Mungcal is such a relief. I had one root canal, six crowns and two fillings done here. As a student I was afraid I wasnt going to be able to afford it but the staff was really helpful, they gave me the opportunity to pay on a monthly basis with Care Credit. Thank you Downtown Dental.

I have approached for orthodontics treatment by march 2018, 6 months down, they have now provided satisfactory results. Moreover, they did not mend the damaged tooth properly which got affected while extractions.

This place is a SCAM.Do not go here. They will charge you 10 times more than any other dental office.They use their fancy sophisticated diagnosis and charge you for things you dont need.I paid $2400 for ONE deep cleaning and force me to sign up for their membership and products that I dont need. They dont even want to follow up with the subsequent cleaning that my membership entitled me to (even though I paid for it) And ask me to pay another $1700 for the follow up treatment. Check your sources and see other dentist first and then visit them. You can surely compare what your dentist says to Downtown Dental and confirm their fraudulent practice.If your insurance is paying for everything in full, then customers wont complain because nothing is coming out of your pocket and they will only be scamming the insurance company. But if you have to pony up $2400 for one cleaning, and $1700 for follow up cleaning, then Downtown Dental is egregiously scamming you out of your ignorance or your stupidity.They have a clean office and give you free water. But thats where all the good things end.If you dont believe what I am saying, then go ahead and get your teeth diagnose and see what they say and how much they are going to charge for it. Its a simple answer: They will take you to the cleaners!

Almost 20 years with Don now. Hes a great dentist and a great person. And he has one of the happiest office staffs Ive ever seen. So the feeling in the office is very warm and friendly. I mostly live out of town now, but Don Mungcal is one of the doctors Ill keep in LA.

Dr. Mungcal has been my Dentist for the past 16 years. I sincerely find him to be the best Dentist in Los Angeles. Dr. Mungcal and his entire staff are clinically excellent, extremely professional and very kind/personable. The office is pristine with state of the art equipment. The front office and reception staff are extremely efficient. They utilize technology (texts, e-mail, and or phone reminders for appointments) to communicate with patients. Their billing processing is flawless.Going to the Dentist is a daunting experience for many of us. Downtown Dental has a very compassionate vibe and Dr. Mungcal and his staff are VERY sensitive and careful to avoid the infliction of pain. They are constantly watching, asking and gauging pain level and anxiety to minimize discomfort.Downtown Dental and Dr. Mungcal are the best.

I had my teeth x-ray, photographed, and cleaned with the awesome staff at Downtown Dental Los Angeles. The staff made me feel welcomed and at ease, it was a great feeling. Priyam did my cleaning and she did an amazing job, she was AWESOME! Doctor Mungcal was amazing he examined my teeth, gums and explained everything about the health of my teeth and made me feel welcomed and finally Brandi she was my first contact with the office and she made me feel very comfortable and welcomed, what a staff! Broke and on a budget I had to get some work done. I was in terrible pain and had no choice. I was recommended by a friend to this group and I am very happy with how things turned out. Dentists are never cheap, but I feel like it was worth the money I spent to be out of pain.

I had a great experience 10 years ago when I first came here but then had to move elsewhere and locate a new dentist. I have since moved back and returned to downtown dental because not only are they caring and accommodating especially during an emergency root canal, but they also have quality work that lasts in past 10 years (speaking from experience), the invest is worth it, and these are the experts in all things dental, youre in good hands.

My Dental office is awesome! The gals in the office are so cheerful, Kris, Priyam, Natalie, Maribel and Brandi are always welcoming! Dr.Mungcal is great, hes professional, knowledgeable, he help me get rid of my Dental phobia. I love coming to visit my family at Downtown Dental. I highly recommend this office to everyone. Ive got a 10 year old who loves going to the dentist (*sarcasm*). Weve switched her around from doc to doc, hoping to find an atmosphere that puts her at *some* ease and this place does it. She actually doesnt scream and kick for her 6 month check ups, and im thanking the heavens for that

Dr. Mungcal and his team surpass any other dental offices in LA! Check them out, I highly recommend them! I had four fillings and everything feels so smooth the day of and the day after. Love, LOve, LOVE this office! The each member of the staff is friendly and welcoming that the “scary dentist” stigma is completely forgotten about. It’s like a party everytime i go except instead of hugging porcelain by the end of the night, my smile is china doll porcelain white. Now, some of you will get that and some of you won’t but either way, I LOVE DOWNTOWN DENTAL.

DOWNTOWN DENTAL IS THE BEST DENTAL OFFICE IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES WHILE DR. DON MUNGCAL IS THE BEST DENTIST. I dont mind driving 23 miles one way to get to his office because I know I have the best dentist with the best staff taking care of me.I just had on crown done to day. As usual, the staff in the front office greeted me with a warm and friendly welcome. Everyone in the office including the dental assistants are so friendly, nice and very professional. I am a big fan of Downtown Dental! The oral hygienists are wonderful and always make sure I am comfortable during my cleanings. Yesterday, I had a root canal (TMJ related) and the tenderness has been minimal; haven’t needed to take any pain medication. Dr. Mungcal’s entire team is fantastic. If you are looking for a dentist in the Downtown L.A. area, I recommend you check them out.

Brandi worked well with my schedule and is super kind. Natalie did a great job on my x-ray and Perio-Trays, Allison made my teeth sparkling clean, and Susie made the dental work a more pleasant experience. Kristin is a miracle worker with keeping my teeth pearly white, and Maribel is a pleasure to work with. This office is like a going to a BAD CAR DEALER and buying a car from bad sales.NOT HONEST. They hide well BEHIND THEIR BIG SMILE. JUST DONT GO. YOU WILL REGRET. I and my family have been coming to Downtown Dental for nearly 20 years ever since I moved to LA and got a referral to Dr. Mungcal. Dr. Mungcal has treated my severe dental problems(dont ask!) with extreme professionalism and a caring, friendly way. He has been particularly flexible with payment options and insurance options. A convenient downtown location with parking; who could ask for more. Also very convenient with the short timing of appointments needed. The staff is also always very caring and professional. You know your dentist is awesome when you keep on as a patient even while moving all over the county, as we did.
