I have lived here for one year. While I really loved my unit, the view specifically I have been let down numerous times by staff members and tonight specifically. My brother and his boyfriend came to visit and had to park on the street the building is on, if you park in the lot as a visitor you get towed. So that is the option for guests. My brothers boyfriends car got broken into, and so much stolen. So embarrassing as a resident here to be worried about that for guests. So they kindly reported it to the front desk of 4 security, which all responded extremely rude and acting like they were blaming them- when they simple wanted to report them and make them aware for other guests. I cannot believe how rude they were and not empathetic in any way. This was moments after a car break in, surely they can be kind and also be concerned since it’s literally GUESTS to the building. Lol. They were all extremely cold, to my surprise.FYI. Mina and Jason are wonderful and work in the leasing office. So is some of the staff in the elevators, and pearla is a sweet heart.I am posting this to warn future residents in case they want to move here. I wouldn’t be doing so if the staff handled the report seriously and said they were happy to be made aware. Therefore, I wanted to make sure everyone was warned and made aware. It raised concerned how little they reacted, as if car break ins like this gets reported or happens every night.
I had a power surge last night and it caused half of my apartment power outlet was down. I wrote a email to management, Kate in the morning, she quickly sent Rudy and Anthony to help less than 30 minutes! They were very professional and reliable, and not only found out what caused the surge but also repaired 6 outlets and helped me to put back everything!I cannot thank them enough!!!
Some of the staff are very mean. I brought it up to management a few times even in writing but unfortunately they never got back to me. It seems like they don’t care.I like the view and floor plans of the units but this level of customer service is very disappointing.
I wanted to thank the team at Barrington Plaza, they ensure that residents love their next home. Jason from the leasing team is incredible and he makes your moving in process so easy. The management team Kate and Abdu reached us just a few days after our move in day and helped us with any questions. I also wanted thank the front desk and maintenance team, they are very friendly and assist you with anything. Don’t think twice and move here.
The only good thing about this place is the front desk/ security management, they are nice people. Other than that there is nothing else great about this place. The management is not great. I have been living here for 3 years and some of the things that have been annoying me this past year is how loud some neighbors can be. Yes, the walls are so thin that I hear everything, including dogs barking 24/7 all day and in the middle of the night or your neighbors partying until 4am. I definitely do NOT recommend or at least not for long term.
This place could be so much nicer than it is but there’s poor attention to detail. From a business standpoint, it’s alarming to me that these details aren’t addressed, I feel like the management company is ignoring the building. I feel if Douglas Emmett gave their staff the resources they needed to properly manage Barrington Plaza’s project’s then they’d be able to make more money. The Bad:1. Floors 2- 9 are unoccupied and it doesnt seem like theyll be repaired anytime soon (1+ Year(s))2. The gym is under construction, but it doesnt look like itll be done anytime soon either (1+ Year(s))3. There are AirBnBs, which is fine usually but they’ve been damaging the building, people’s cars, and leaving trash in the halls, pool, and elevators.4. There’s major construction to a new building that’s kind of annoying but not really that big of a deal.5. My unit didn’t have an internet hook-up when I moved in6. The on-site staff seem limited in the problems they can solve due to poor upper management (everyone on-site is fine)7. The underground garage is leaking water from pipes and cracks in the ceiling8. The hallways smell like trash9. The building is old11. The pool is poorly maintained, but usableThe Good:1. Great location, you can get anywhere super fast, it’s one of the best spots to commute from on the west side.2. The views from the top floors make the other items I’ve mentioned worth it to me. I like being able to see downtown and the ocean.3. The on-site staff are friendly, nice, and accommodating (to the limits of Douglas Emmett)4. The dog park is great if you have a dog and there is an awesome dog person community here5. The rooms are nice with a lot of light and space.6. There’s a pool and a nice area to sit7. The units have porches8. The price is okay but probably not worth itIf anyone at Douglas Emmett in upper management is reading this: please give your teams the resources they need to succeed. The business case for improving these buildings should be clear.
All the people working here are so nice and helpful, especially kate who worked with me through my extension. The location is convenient and close to many delicious restaurants!
Besides having beetles in my unit and no water pressure and noise during the day. Their management team altitude made me surprised. Her name is Kate and her job title is communicated management and they supposed to be train and solve the issues and take care of issues in the the best way to keep residents happy and make sure employee not having mistake or owner their mistakes to having best customer service. The Barrington plaza office is different. When you expect to talk with management thats a problem. I felt Im in prison because they had mistake about parking spots and didnt notice me in advance and after days that I had to go to front desk to complain I found out they gave my parking to someone else and didnt tell me. I asked them to speak with a manager. She called me and started to yell me and saying this is what it is. But my concern was if you make any changes I need to know through email, letter...To make sure this communicate comes from company and building management. This is basic. Instead of this simple way she was yelling at me. I could not even believe how someone can talk like that with me. I was speaking with another resident and she had the same experience. Look like thats their way. So it happens to you before answer her phone call you need to record the conversation. If not after standing her attitude.she will send the letter that you harass them and you are not allowed to call them anymore. So be careful. Im not joking. My expectation of a manager is not what I saw. Dont even talk with them. It does not matter the place is old you smell food, marijuana in hall ways and not clean pool no shower for pool. People play tennis and you see them they are wet from body sweat and jump into the pool and use the pool as a shower. But the management attitude is not acceptable when yo expect sorry for their mistake.
So let me just mention that I have been living here for 3 years and I have a lot to say. Some of the things that have been annoying me these past months is how loud some neighbors can be. Yes, the walls are so thin that I hear everything, including dogs barking 24/7 all day and in the middle of the night. I definitely do NOT recommend.
I tried to add to my previous review but it would not allow me to respond to the managements response. I have left numerous messages for Kate the new manager and of course she never calls back. Total liars. Don’t care. I complain and they pretend to listen but do nothing. So if you want to respond at least don’t lie even about your responses
I rented virtually during Covid I knew the location and building but have never been inside apts. Firstly Jason my leasing person lied about an additional scam charge about water and trash. I needed a place and signed form. It’s a scam. The first of this place. Then non smoking. People smoke especially weed. It’s disgusting. The tenants are allowed pets. The dogs are more like security animals than pets. It’s scarey. The wash machines are messed up because the building won’t turn up pressure. Do not rent here. A dump
I moved there without doing much research or reading reviews and I definitely regret it. Walls and ceilings are thin. Too much noises coming from disrespectful neighbors (Airbnb, parties, door slamming). I literally know when my neighbors leave or come back. Too many dogs, you won’t be able to sleep at night. Some people just get dogs without letting the office know so they don’t have to pay their fees. I have a friend who lived there as well and we moved almost at the same time without knowing what we were getting into. The apartments looks renovated but they are not. They are just painted over and over and the appliances are really dated. No fire safety and on top of that some resident smoke their cigarettes inside the units (I smell smoke when I have my windows open). My friend already moved out and I will too asap. I do not recommend.
I have been living here for a year now and let me tell you, stay away! I am not planning on staying here because I do not feel safe anymore. There was a huge fire that broke down in the building A just few month ago and few other alerts in other buildings. The elevators constantly break down. Even after the fire happened, I keep smelling the smell of weed and cigarettes through my windows at night! The wall are PAPER THIN. You can literally hear your neighbors coughing and there are SO many dogs here. I constantly hear my neighbors dogs all day long. If I knew all that before moving in, I would not be here! The staffs tend to be rude when you are asking for a service and the apartments have old maintenance. NOT WORTH IT FOR THE PRICE.
I cannot mention this enough, the walls are THIN, THIN, THIN. To the point that there is no privacy and it’s a nightmare. You can hear people living around you talking, coughing, doing their thing and let’s not even mention if you live beside a dog owner. Your nightmare is about to start. The neighbors around me are a total nightmare between loud music, partying and their dog barking for hours. I honestly wish I heard or knew this before or during my visit because I would have never moved in here! I cannot wait to move out. Save yourself sleep and money, don’t move here.
Barrington Plaza is the worst place to come to live at if you want to relax or if you are a young professional. My personal experience there is terrible. As everyone already mentioned the walls are paper thin. You will constantly hear doors being slammed, jumping, parties and the every move of your neighbors. Even worse if your neighbors are dog owners. I constantly hear their dog howling like crazy that I am considering contacting animal control.Don’t live here, you will honestly regret it.
I cannot mention this enough, the walls ARE THIN, THIN, THIN. To the point that there is no privacy and it’s a nightmare. You can hear people living around you talking, coughing, doing their thing and let’s not even mention if you live beside dog owners. Your nightmare is about to start. The neighbors around me are a total nightmare between loud music, partying and their dog constantly barking for hours. I honestly wish I heard or knew this before or during my visit because I would have never moved in here! I cannot wait to move the hell out. Save yourself some money and sleep, don’t move here.
I really wish that I could give this place a zero star.We moved out recently due to the airbnb next door, constantly smoking and the fire that took place in Jan, 2020 with no sprinklers installed.Managers are always very busy, either in a phone call or a meeting until they get off work, so please do not expect to get help from the residence office if you choose to live here. There were lots of issues associated with the airbnb, and we reported that to the office at the beginning of 2020. Unfortunately, nothing had changed after almost 10 months. Its critical to let air flow into the room and circulate during the pandemic; however, we could not even open windows because of the smoking from the next door, not to mention noise that came from parties in the airbnb unit. This issue really bothered our life and put our health in danger. When we were asking about any mails that might have been left in the mail box, the receptioniest named Tamika hung up on me, with no apologies right after I questioned her about possibility of leaking our privacy to other people if they do not clear mails before new tenants move in. She Claimed that they have no responsibility to do so, and after new tenants move in, they have no access to the mail box. When I called back, she said it was because the signal was cut off. She has done to me multiple times, hanging up on me without telling me to hold on for a moment right after I asked her critical questions that probably she did not know how to answer. What a coincidence it would be if it alway happens like that? Im pretty sure that the signal was good, and had always been good. Similar situations never happened to me when I talked to other people through my phone. Also, they would say that they already call you back, but you actually did not receive any phone calls. By doing so, it makes you believe that its your fault that you did not receive phone calls. This situation also happened to me several times, which I had never experienced before. Furthermore, there was one time where she told my husband that their previous property manager was in a meeting that would end in 3 hours, but the manager picked up my phone call 10 minutes after my husband talked to her. When we asked her about the mismatched information, she did not admit that she said that. It was quite hilarious. Therefore, it demonstrated that sometimes their receptionists would not let you talk to the managers on purpose. I guess they did a really good job at blocking phone calls and complaints for their managers. Unfortunately, this solution not only could not solve any issues, but also could worsen issues because they could not be delivered to the management team and get resolved. The attitude in which Tamika talked to me was a just a reflection of how the residence team treat the tenants. I sent them an email regarding the airbnb issue in March, with no response until today. They always say they will reply or call you back, but they actually do not do so.Based on all the things that happened before, I regretted a lot to live in this apartment complex, so I moved out as soon as the lease ended. It was a quite unpleasant experience. The rent was not cheap, and the service I got did not match the price that I paid for. When my husband and I were touring the complex, everything looked great on the surface. After you moved in, you would realize that its just painting over and over again. Paint would peel off gradually over time. Its super hard to reach out to the management team. Elevators often broke in the buildings as well.Lastly, I wanted to point out that their maintenance team was really nice and attentive. I really appreciate their help.
I have been living here for a year and half and this is by far the worst place I have lived in. The appliances are really old. The apartments “seem” renovated but you will quickly realize that they are actually falling apart. The walls are extremely thin and that’s something I wish I new before moving in. I constantly hear what my neighbors are doing. The buildings are full of dogs. So get ready to hear dogs all day and eventually waking you up in the middle of the night. When you complain about excessive noises, the management does not care whatsoever. Once you move in and gave them your money, they absolutely won’t care about you. The apartments do not have the proper fire safety that is required by law and that is why there was this huge fire couple months ago that killed a tenant.I do not recommend and I will be moving out asap!
Best views, large panoramic windows!! A lot of closets!! Large apartments!! So happyyy to move in here!! Thank you so much manager Mans, for his care and help!! Brentwood area!! Everything close, 10 min to Beverly Hills, 15 to West Hollywood, 7 min to the beach!!! I’m happy with my choice!! Thank you Mans again for your patience and support!! Love my new apartment!
This is one of the places that reviews are not reflective of the experience. It was great moving in, everything is very clean, gym is clean, free coffee in the mornings! and local to everything. I love my place.
Living here should only be done if you literally have no other choices within the area. Every month has been a nightmare with an AirBnB next door, constantly changing neighbors who smoke (supposedly smoke free apartment) cigarettes and marijuana every day. Management and security have done nothing to resolve this issue, security has been called several times to no avail as they cant hear the loud music or smell the smoke. The apartment itself is 90% carpet and the walls and sink have been painted over many times to make it all look new. For 2700+ a month, its a rip off to stay here. You think after two fires, they would install sprinklers, but nope, no change at all since the 2013 and 2020 fire which has KILLED people.Horrendous
Barrington Plaza is an extremely dangerous place to live. Illegal Airbnbs, two fires in the past couple of years, and faulty fire alarms (leading to a death in one of those fires). Management is TERRIBLE. When they charged us our entire deposit due to damage that was already there when we moved in (as clearly stated on our move in check in forms), we tried to make numerous phone and in person appointments, but the building manager cancelled 90% of the time without any notice. DO NOT LIVE HERE
I have lived in this place for some time.As the reviewers mentioned before, the elevators often have trouble working. As a result, people have to wait for the elevators for a long time. There are no sprinklers installed in the buildings, so it would be very dangerous if there is fire going on.Airbnb has always been a big issue in the apartments, which also causes lots of problems associated with smoking, noise, and partying.Managers are always very busy, so its super hard to rely on them to help you.
There are two good things about this place - location and price for the area. Everything else is horrible (very old appliances, place stinks, rude stuff, cockroaches uhhh). And construction across the street (new building for the property) makes is impossible to live there (starts 7am even on Saturdays!).
Terrible manager . They do everything not to return your security deposit. They charge me $456 for cleaning of 464 sq ft studio that I used just for night sleep for 2.5 months?????? as I was at work all day long and checked out at super clean condition .
Only lived there a month and it was the worst apartment living experience I have ever had to deal with. The place is dirty, unorganized, a human fire trap that caused health problems and injuries. Some of the security are very rude and unhelpful and management does not care about their residents. Packages and mail situation is a nightmare and sometimes lose mail. Would not recommend living here and never felt safe or comfortable while my time there.
Good workers and kind property mangers were there. With a good partner, you will have a great experience in here. Just dont do anything looking like a sublease or houseshare from SNS or any in internet when you make a contract. When you consider this house, visit property house on the lobby.
Nice location, but takes very long to get anything fixed, cleaned etc. and elevators go out all the time. Also the 4 steel walls make that you hear your neighbors. so meet the neighbors before you move in.
The manager Sherrie NEVER responds no matter how many times you try to reach her. Even after the fire at Barrington Plaza caused a fatality she wouldn’t respond to me about my concerns. Do NOT move to Barrington Plaza.
Room is good. Nice pool and gym. Slowest elevator in the world 🙂
I have lived in Barrington Plaza since July 2012.I would like to compliment the service I received from the manager, Karen Rabadi. She is extremely competent, patient, and responsible. She answers emails in a timely, manner.Karen listened to my concerns and we were able to resolve my issues.Anwar and Delia also need to be commended.I had appointments and they were right on time.Barrington Plaza has many units, but if you are pleasant, call to make appointments or email, then your concerns will be resolved.I would not hesitate to move to this beautiful, well located property! With the service I received I plan on staying here many more years!
My Own experience with this people was horrible. I went there on December 8th to look for 2 apartments and I didn’t like nothing that I see. And they ended up taking to go see a another property in a different location, That apartment wasn’t ready to moving so, me and my husband decided to keep shopping around to see if we can find something better for us. Agent guy told us that we need to pay $250 deposit to garante the apartment in case we decide to moved in when the apartment was ready and the deposit at any moment can be refund.2 days later we found something better and I call the property management informed that I need my deposit back. And they told me would take 7 to 10 business days for the money appears in my bank account.A month later I still wait on my money back, basically I need to chase them.Everyday new excuses. They System is very desorganize and unprofessional and I still waiting on my money until today. It’s was so easy for them to take my money then give me back. I don’t recommend nobody to do business with them. Very poor service
Large apartments with a lot of mirrors inside. Huge pool. Bbqs. Tennis court. Nice gym. You will have to wait for elevators on the main building. The management always try to keep your deposit, or charge you more than needed.
Lived here for one year, very dated building with minimal fire safety equipment/detection. These buildings have had multiple fires...a fire catastrophe is inevitable. Stay away.
Once I left they put something in my collection without my knowledge even though I do not have any debt with this place. Avoid renting here
Do you like the constant smell of weed in your apartment? Do you like apocalyptic, ear drum shattering crashes and sonic booms from the demolition and construction of a 30 story building directly in front of you? If you don’t need your hearing or an operational elevator, Barrington Plaza just might be for you.
We lived here only for 4 weeks. Good complex, good location, large and comfy pool, yes it’s old, yes sometimes you need to wait some minutes for an elevator but in general complex is ok
I used to live at this building for 6 years just because of its location. The worst experience ever. Elevators are always broken. My parking spot was a block away from the building. The rent was too expensive for the service I got. Their personnel are very rude and disrespectful. I had a very bad experience with their service. I highly not recommend this place.
Many airb@nb units in the building, a fire in january killed one tenant and closed down the swimming pool and the gym until now many months so far, a high rise construction next door will last for 3 years and horrendous noise starting 7 am, also construction noise inside the building on sundays and weekdays before 7 am, and the management does not responds to emails, I tried to move out but the management is not allowing me unless I pay them a big chunk of money
Worst place to live in! Staff and management is horrible! Building is run down and old, with hear through wallsThey nickel and dime you for everything.Building is unsafe, had a major fire with a tenant who DIED!!!!
KEEP AWAY OF BARRINGTON PLAZA!!!Old buildings, elevators never worked, they don’t give you your security deposit back, even if the apartment is as they gave it to you, they just find excuses to keep your money, for sure you WON’T GET you security deposit back. Be aware of that. The whole time that I lived there there was construction noise all the time, if you like the noise that is the right place for you.Old stove, they told me that it would be replaced at they never replaced it.KEEP AWAY OF BARRINGTON PLAZA!I wish I’ve read all the comments before I moved there. Trust me.
This place is falling apart and almost nothing ever works here. Carpet was dirty when we first move in here. They should at least replace the carpets for a new tenant. Their attitude is like I dont care what ever, well get to you when its convenient for us mentality. I once had a bad clog in my bathroom I had to wait almost a week to get it fix and still had problem with it a week later. So I call an independent plumber out of my own pocket to solve the problem and the management never reimburse me. I love loving here because the view is just awesome the reason for two stars but come on wake up and stand by your claims and improve your customer service.
Stayed at an AirBnb here and had the worst experience ever. 2/3 elevators were broken and it was routinely a 10-30 min experience to get to/from the 18th floor. The building is ran down, it’s right by a lot of construction, and simply doesn’t feel safe. Locked my bike inside the parking garage and the cable lock was cut and my bike was stolen
Terrible facilities, nothing works properlyAwful service, don’t recommend it at all
DONT DO IT! Move-in/out WORST experience I’ve had (including them withholding money on my deposit ~$1000), elevators are always broken, management is always changing/never responding, cockroaches in bedrooms, parties from college students - they lease to foreign students at UCLA for low prices, common areas smell horribly, security is a joke. The list goes on!!!! Don’t sign a lease here - consider yourself warned.
IF YOU ARE A FOREIGN STUDENT, STUDYING AT ELC, ELS, EC, Kaplan or UCLA DON’T STAY WITH ((((ZUMA)))).The apartments are old, dirty, expensive but the vibe of barrington plaza is nice! The most IMPORTANT advise, DON’T rent here with ZUMA!! They try everything to stole your money, hold the deposit of 200$ and they put SUPER expensive prices! You can Rent a house with some friends that Will be much cheaper!!
Great service team. People are nice and helpful.
Had the worst experience, Zuma housing is not responsible at all. The apartment is old and messy. They just painted the apartment again and again.
DONT RENT HERE DONT RENT HERERenting at Barrington Plaza and having to deal with Douglas Emmet was the worst thing that has ever happened to us! The building has several short term renters and airbnb - yes its illegal! - which means the complex is on party mode all the time. Its like living in a frat house. The music is loud, the common areas are dirty, the elevator and call boxes are broken, the people are rude and the air smells like pot (and other weird smells) all the damn time. The police has come to the building several times to look at security camera so who knows what other weird things go on that we never knew about. And dont even try to talk to management, cause they dont care. They refuse to accept that theres a problem with the renters - they know theyre there but claim nothing can be done. They dont maintain the building properly - I found an used condom on the lobby, cans and leftover food on the stars and underwear hanging on the pipes of the laundry room. They dont care about sexual harassment - which happened to me at the elevator and was met by a blank stare from the security and maintenance crew. The security/ receptionist also talks down on you and will do anything and everything in their power to make your life a living hell, such as parking illegally at the moving dock, blocking your car and not reserving the elevator even though youve requested it several weeks in advance. And to top it all off, youll be living in one the oldest buildings in the west side that has never been updated. Expect dripping sinks (we had it), windows that wont open (we had it), clogged pipes due to your neighbor shoving hair down the drain and his shower pipe being connected to your kitchen sink pipe (yes we had it) and cracks on the walls (we had it). The garage is also a joke and you have to walk several minutes to get to your spot - our spot was closer to the B building and not ours. Not to mention all the cars that park illegally on other peoples spots - again management doesnt care at all (really cant stress this enough). Finally they were late for a 2pm move out inspection on a Thursday (because they dont care we have lives and jobs) and when we moved out they tried to charge us for regular wear and tear like shampooing the entrance carpet and repainting the walls, even though it clearly states on the contract that they cant. And when we tried to argue with them it took several calls to reach someone at corporate that said due to all the problems youve faced, we wont charge you move out fees, as if they even had a right to charge us in the first place.Anyways, cant really stress it enough how bad, awful, disgusting, nerve-racking, depressing and humiliating was living there! Were so glad we were able to find another place and didnt even care about breaking our lease, because our peace of mind and humanity are worth way more.DONT RENT HERE DONT RENT HERE DONT RENT HERE
Their elevators are never working, you have to wait 15 minutes for it to come down. Only 1 out of 3 of them are working
The garbage truck comes at 6:15am every Monday so you dont need to set your own alarm. Lots of Spiders. The grills are not new like some recent reviews have said. They havent replaced the grills in well over 3 years and it shows when you use them. They WILL raise your rent 4% every year without fail according to the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization act. Be prepared to deal with a group of management which only cares about money but is unwilling get problems fixed in your apartment. Id highly highly recommend you find a different apartment management group. Douglas Emmett is sketchy.
Moved here in May. Super clean apt with well maintained facilities. Only had one issue moving in and it was swiftly resolved by Unit Manager Angelena Carnes. She is the one to talk to with any issues. I was so impressed with her, I actually decided to sign in just to write this review. Lol cool place, nice gym, great pool area with new grills.Would recommend!
FYI This building has caught on fire and trapped residents on ledges twice. And exposed firefighters and residents to asbestos during the 10/18/2013 12:22 PM PST fire. Second fire on 7th floor across 10 units on 1/29/2020 8:37 AM PST (see video of people about to jump). This building does not have fire sprinklers.
This building is abandoned almost. No hot water, horrible elevators, unfriendly staff, no microwave. Do NOT move here.
Stayed here with Zuma housing. Very dirty apartments. Carpet was dirty, maintenance request will take one week to fix. Our toilet was clogged more than 24 hours. At the end they charged me $450. I asked for receipts of charges they ignored me and blocked my number. Stay away from Zuma and this building.
Zero stars to managers that should work in Walmart. Zero stars to architect who designed a building with paper walls that you can not only hear every move of your neighbor but you can suffocate in secondhand smoke coming in from next door. I have complained about tabacco smell for months until I dveloped a health condition and have to take prescribed medications. I brought a letter from doctors office to the management and they said we did everything we could, we emailed your neighbor and gave him a 3 day notice to move out. Guess what. I spoke to the neighbor and he NEVER was contacted by managment! What are they doing there? It normally takes them 2 to 3 weeks to satisfy simple maintanence request, ridiculous. ALSO, homeless people come to wash their clothes in a swimming pool, in case you like swimming. This building should be demolished because I do not think anyone deserves to live in a place where you do not receive quiet enjoyment, no peaceful nights, no tabacco free air to breathe! Cant wait to move out!P.S. There are plenty of Airbnb guests here who dont care about the lease terms, so as the useless management that is AWARE OF IT even though the lease agreement does not allow you to sublease. Crooks.
This was the worse choice for housing in my junior year at UCLA. Zuma is a rip off company.. they literally stole my security deposit.. service is so bad that we lived in a dirty apartment with a broken ac that they never fixed.. they just take advantage of innocent students and rip them off.. stay away from this company!
Best deals on black Friday’s.
Me and my roommate got charged $250 for smoking on the balcony. Elevator takes forever.
Looks like Barrington Plaza almost burned to the ground due to bad managenent
If you want to wait 10 minutes for the elevator and like living in places where most of the things need repair, then this is the place for you. I’ve been living here for 3+ years and I can tell you that it keeps getting worse.
NOT HAPPYAfter we negotiated our 14th floor apartment rent, we moved from Colorado and showed up on the day of the lease-signing only to have them add an additional fee. In addition, we get two water bills - one for our apartment (which is based on a formula, so we pay too much because we do not use a lot of water. The second water bill is for the complex and that bill includes trash removal. SO THE BENEFITS THAT YOUD EXPECT TO HAVE BASED ON RENTING AS OPPOSED TO OWNING, DO NOT APPLY AT THIS COMPLEX. Our rent is about 3-4% higher than what we negotiated and I wish to God that wed told them to pound salt the day that we signed our lease.NOISE, NOISE and more Noise. You have to live hear to appreciate the countless horns that youll hear from the Wilshire/Barrington intersection; especially at rush hour. If youre not from LA, it wont take you long to figure out that LA residents care about little more than blowing their car-horn for as long as they need to with absolutely NO regard for the fact that theyre in a residential area. There is no reason why the management here should not get after the LAPD and have them place an officer at the Wilshire/Barrington intersection with a video camera and record the 100s of automobiles that block the intersection during the traffic light change, thereby inciting a near riot with the cars (and their obnoxious horns) wanting to cross the intersection and ticket those cars (that block the intersection) accordingly. I am NOT exaggerating, its hundreds (100s) of cars daily which amounts to damn-near a thousand horns (seriously, because theres two lanes of crossing traffic and believe me, both lanes of cars (as well as the cars behind those cars in the lead) are ALL blowing their horns at the fools blocking the intersection!!!!!!).Before you sign a lease here, I CANNOT encourage you enough to hangout at the intersection for 10-15 minutes during morning or afternoon rush hour. Avoid building A at the greatest of cost because its noisy by nature (residents and the cars in the driveway blasting their music) but youll hear horns and sirens 24-hours a day regardless which building you live in. The resident-noise from residents in building A will also travel to building B and C and so beware of that too because even though security is in building A, they are oblivious and will not break up a party until theyre called. The management at Barrington Plaza Apartments DOES have the ability to do something about building noise. They should also have enough influence with the city to do something about the rude drivers that block the intersection at Wilshire and Barrington. If 200 cars block the intersection daily and the city issues a $300 traffic fine for each that violates the law - than that would generate a daily income for the city of Los angeles of $60,000 until the drivers finally got the message. Its ridiculous and so do not live here unless the EXTREME noises of city living have a calming effect on you.OH, one last thing: Youd better LOVE the smell of food being cooked over Mesquite Wood because the restaurant in the complex (Bandera) cooks on the wood from dinner until about 11:00. The smoke will constantly permeate your apartment and where occasionally, it might be pleasant, it grows old very quickly. Thanks for reading and good luck
I have been living in Barrington Plaza for over 5 years now and in my currently apartment for 4. I live in the A tower on the 9th floor - the 2 floors above me have been under construction since October of last year after the fire.Every single day - 7 am to about 5 pm sometimes 6 pm - construction noise in the apartment directly above me....for the past 8 months. I complained to the property manager about a couple months ago and had to request for a concession on rent (they should have offered this themselves) which he did fight for me for so I want thankful. The concession is small and not enough to be quite honest (It MAYBE makes up for the HUGE trash chute right smack in the middle of my balcony blocking the view and sun I pay thousands for at most) with what I have to deal with - now construction on Saturdays too stating at 7 am (I wont even talk about them starting at 6 am on memorial day weekend which goes against the regulations in this city!!!). I dont think they understand or care that the walls in this unit are already too thin and now the addition construction noise, absolutely unbearable. The property manager, I dont know if he thinks I am just making a fuss, is ignoring my request to transfer. He tried to tell me weekend quiet hours are until 10 am but again woke up at 7:40 to the construction above me and this has been going on for I dont know how long. Quiet hours DONT exist so dont try to just appease me by lying to me and when I email back he just ignores me.Additionally, this place now rents out like CRAZY to Zuma housing, which are a bunch of students who have nothing better to do than to party all night every night. I have been calling about some people who party a couple floors above me most nights out of the week on their balcony. I have a job to wake up to. I also take classes and need to study at night. I dont have time to have to make 3 calls a night, by which time its already the early hours of the morning, before they call PD. The apartment just doesnt care because they are students and BP does nothing to enforce regulations other than send courtesy patrol when tenants call to complain.Who has the time and patience to call courtesy patrol all night? By the time I get to sleep around 4 am- guess what - wake up to loud banging and drilling at 7 am!So I am the lucky unit that gets to deal with construction 6 days out of the week and then listen to kids yell and scream and throw all their cigarette butts and red plastic cups all over my balcony in the night. BP is doing nothing for a permanent fix about this. (PLUS I get crap from the construction all over my balcony too which I have to clean once a week)They are trying to make up for some things I think by offering free coffee in the mornings and something about movie nights to everyone, but my case is different and this really does not make up for the lack of peace and quiet that they are subjecting me to for over 8 months which has done nothing but get worse.I wish I could move out but I cannot sign a year lease at this point in my life as its a transitional period for me - so I just have to deal.Additionally, we have had problems with elevators and hot water which for the most part have been fixed probably because of how bad things got here after the fire. Before that, NOTHING was done. Maintenance staff is nice. Walls are thin and windows do not drown on noise from Wilshire especially the loud drunk people walking back from the bars at night. Apartments are old and not upgraded enough to warrant the rent. Apartments near the stairs get to hear banging noises when people walk up and down them.First people would get stuck in elevators for hours, then there was a flood, and then there was a fire. SAFETY much?Anyone looking to move here, l highly recommend you looks somewhere else if you A want to be respected as a tenant and B care about noise control.
Terrible place. You can hear the noise left and right. Need ear plugs to sleep at night. Look somewhere else.
You are in heaven 👌
Look somewhere else! The walls are extremely thin and you can hear loud noises from other tenants and from the street. DO NOT RENT HERE.
Looks fancy but actually suck
America should be embarrased about this apartment building...
Ive been here. That could fix more these carpets.
Quite good.
Bad apartment i have ever met,you can not get the deposit back anyway.
No fire sprinklers
With all due respect, this is the worst building, i had a bad 6 month experience with this building and the staff (my opinion) .
To stay in Airbnb 2/3 day quite close to everything ..
I have not been there yet but I have the reservation for the whole summer and with this fire I am going back, so I have been reading any guest is happy with their experience and they make complaints such as the staff, the old facilities, protections of fires, etc. The truth is very scary, I would like you to guarantee my security for the months that I am staying there, if I do, because if you confirm to me that today March 9, security is just as vague and the facilities so poorly maintained I wish I could cancel my reservation. I DONT WANT TO DIE ON MY HAHA TRIP.
I lived 25 years agoIt wasnt a new building at that time eitherI think its a pretty old building now.
Acceptable housing in apartment. Deplorable attention of those responsible. No communication in Spanish (very important and accepted language in the Southern Californian). Not recommended for Spanish-speaking Latino tourists.
Extremely miserable apartment which is operated by the company CUMAHOUSING. Worn out, rotten, dirty, dirty, nasty, dirty. Our advice! Hands off!
The worst housing possible face in your life a very bad housing, and the worst Mavy Office, it was important to more than 7 times complained and every time they say Prophet Nakhli the director relates to you and the truth what they call,
