Easily the best recreational scuba dive operation around. I book this boat multiple times a year and I love out of state. The boat, the crew and Capt Kyaa- are engaged, responsible and interactive. Its easy to get to. Parking is a snap. The boarding process simple. I needed to borrow some.gear-the stuff I used was new and up to date. The Capt takes us to new dive sites so none are repeats. I will continue to use Sun Diver International for.my diving

I had a great dive experience with Kyaa and the Sundiver boat, with two trips to Catalina Island last Friday and Saturday. Kyaa and her deckhands, Mo and Taylor were helpful. Kyaa had good knowledge of the dive sites and gave good briefings. Safety was never a concern and I was satisfied with their roll call procedures. They were flexible with their dive sites and when conditions werent perfect, they were happy to go to another dive site (fuel and time were not concerns to them). They truly went out of the way to make sure we had some great dives.However, I did wish that they put more effort into their COVID-19 procedures. I had a chance to compare Sundiver with another popular dive boat company, Spectre/Cal Boat Diving, and the differences were huge. Although I understand that proper social distancing is not going to be implemented perfectly on a dive boat, even at half capacity, there were things they could have done to make sure things were more sanitary/safer. My largest concern was the food. Food was mostly not prepackaged, with chips, salad, cookies and trailmix presented in a bowl/plate and everyone dipping their fingers in (no public serving utentils were used.) The lunch spread was bread and deli meats/cheese, and again, there were no public serving utensils used. Plastic utensils were placed on the table, but no one (including crew members) used utensils to serve themselves, and the crew didnt say anything about it.

I want to Thank Capt. Kyaa and crewman Taylor for making our day on Friday June 10, 2021 the Absolute Best. We chartered their boat for a memorial to release my parents ashes and to say farewell. They went above and beyond to make our day on the water special. The kindness they showed, their attention to detail, all of their interactions with our party was above and beyond. Their boat was absolutely immaculate, so impressive. My expectations X 10. I highly recommend this company, Im sure you will have the best time no matter where or what you charter them for. They deserve a 10 Star Rating, however it only allows us to give a max of 5!

The best place to have a diving trip to catalina island. She drives really fast, takes only one hour to get the island. Air tank and meals are included.

Had a great experience on the Sundiver Express, Captain Kyaa and her crew really made this Florida Cave Diver feel welcome diving from a boat. Night and day difference in experience from another dive operation in the area the next day.The next time I come to California Sundiver will definitely be my operator of choice.

Captain and crew were well experienced and a lot of fun. The snacks in between are also amazing. Not just chips and dip, but full meat trays, veggies, pretzels, taquitos....

Kyaa and Ray rock! For every group of divers they have the boat. Overnight trips? They got a live aboard. Fast trips to Catalina, they got the fastest boat that can carry over 20 divers. Small groups that really want to move, they got a 6 pack that can be at Catalina in under an hour. They know the best sites with the best conditions and the coolest underwater creatures. They will keep you safe and well fed. A great dive operation

This dive charter is nothing short of amazing. The Captain Kyaa and the crew were all helpful and just generally all around good people. Their knowledge of the area and their skills are top notch as well. Come with the expectation that they know their trade and the area and you will not be disappointed. My first saltwater dive and they were patient and even gave me assistance beyond what I expected. Can you give a place 10 stars?

Excellent diving on Catalina. Fast boats.

My son (11) and I are both freshly certified divers, this was our first boat dive. Kyaa and her crew were very friendly and helpful and made us feel safe, everything was just amazing! The ride to Catalina was fast and smooth, the food was plentiful and great, their rental gear was in tip top shape, and the dive sites were beautiful. Cant wait to do it again!

Professional crew, nice and fast boats, good and full dive gear available, very nice dive sites. They take you to the best spots. I saw kelp forests, tons of lobsters, giant sea basses, nice rock formations, seals during the lunch break... What could I possibly have wanted more? I would definitively come back here to dive on the Catalina island again! You just made my day, or should I say holidays! ;)

Overall I had a great experience diving with Sundiver. We did 3 dives total at wonderful locations plentiful with much to see and great conditions. I have dove with other companies and there were some differences I noticed.1. No dive time limits - I appreciated this, allowing each diver to enjoy their complete dive.2. Loose Covid-19 precautions. This worried my dive parter and I, especially because we would be visiting my elderly parents a few days later. About half the boat wore masks. An earlier reviewer mentions their buffet style meals being a concern but I was actually ok with it (as long as people sanitized and had masks on while around the food).3. Loose enforcement of fishing licenses in order to spearfish. My parter overheard a fellow diver admit to carrying a 3+ yr expired fishing license and I believe he was allowed to fish anyways. As a tour company within our beautiful ocean, preservation and regulations should be adhered to no matter what.SunDiver came recommended from diving acquaintances in Monterey, Ca and I would dive with them again.

I had booked a trip on this charter and was calling to ask about the nitrox that i checked on the order form. Kyaas short response was its too short of a notice, and I tried to get more clarification as to why. Because of her short attitude I did a little bit of research and also found out that they are operating under a suspended status with the Secretary of CA. I asked why this was, and Kyaa subsequently kicked me off the boat. As a dive professional I understand the importance of having all the correct license and insurance. Its important to be informed and have all the details before you jump on a dive boat. Be for warned. Cheers

You won’t find better people or more skilled professionals in the business. I am deeply grateful for my experience with Kyaa and Ray. Sea lions and breath-taking kelp forests on my first trip...it was truly unforgettable!

Do yourself a favour and book a dive with Sundiver RIGHT NOW! I just spent what I can say was quite probably the best Monday of my life diving with them on the oil rigs. Amazing marine life, a HUGE sun fish emerging from the depths (!), frolicking sea lions and cormorants swimming around us... the diving was epic. Plus, the boat and crew were excellent: so friendly, relaxed and helpful that we felt like part of the team. Ill be heading out with them again in a couple of weeks and I cant wait!

The express is one if my favorite dive boats. Fast and always had Dr.Pepper in the cooler :-D the Captain, Ray, is full of knowledge and willing to answer any questions you have.

What to say: there are many dive boats around LA area, I like quite few. But always consider Sundiver the friendliest, safest and most fun. When you onboard they will make sure you have best diving afforded by mother nature that day, whether you are a brand new diver or you are tec 1 with doubles or RB, even when both are on the same boat. Personalisation is what I like the most, no plans are set in stone, best sites will be selected every time based on conditions and wishes of divers onboard, even if it involves extra moving (and fuel).

Great dive boats - although some questionable history in the past with forgotten divers - I am assuming that the captain in question has been replaced (although not 100% certain)
