Excellent customer service & great cars at terrific prices. Went to Maui for the first time & was shocked by the price of rental cars. Found this great little company through a YouTube video reviewing car rental in Maui. If you’re looking for a reliable car & aren’t worried about it being the latest model this is the company to go with. I paid half of what I was being quoted by Hertz, Avis, etc. the car was clean, reliable & worked perfectly. Easier than dealing w/ the big companies too. Less waiting around, just picked up the car from the spot they told me the car would be at & I was off. Return was a simple as parking in the public lot.

Absolute best experience with this company! Staff is so hospitable, easy communication, and hassle free. Skip the mainstream rental car companies and help out a local business. The rates are insanely cheap. The cars are older, but clean, and will get you from point A to point B. They have been “islandfied” so they easily stand up to the terrain. They drop the car off at the airport for you to pick up and you drop it right back off at airport parking when you leave. Have nothing but positive things to say about this company. Mahalo. 🌺

Dont even think about using anyone else! Paul made the entire rental car process smooth and very easy. Like others mentioned I was frantically calling around to all the rental companies and they were either priced WAY too high or didnt have anything available. When I called Maui Cruisers (about to give up on my search for an affordable car) Paul answered and was very helpful in getting my family and I into a great car for our 12 night vacation. Even included a booster seat for my daughter at NO additional charge, unlike the other companies. I was a little nervous at first with it being an older vehicle, but it was obviously very well taken care of. The car was very clean when we picked it up and ran great even with the AC blaring. The best part was the pickup and drop off process. After being on the airplane for 7 hours and finally reaching paradise the last thing you want to do is go stand in line at some stuffy overpriced car rental building with two screaming children and a very irritated husband. With Paul, we landed, turned on my phone, and there was a text message with pictures of our vehicle and where it was parked in the parking lot right outside of baggage claim. NO LINES! Drop off was just as easy! Now if you would rather spend your vacation money on a newer overpriced car, thats your call, but if you would rather use your hard earned money on making memories in paradise then Paul with Maui Cruisers is the way to go. This little gem helped my family and I have the most amazing and memorable vacation! Thank you Paul!

Wow -- just about five stars from tons of people! Well deserved. Weve rented cars from Paul many times over the years, and its always been a happy experience. Reliable cars, not pretty (my preference), great customer service. When we dropped the car at the airport my son pulled too hard on the door handle and it broke. Sent a pic to Paul and he cheerfully replied that things happen and hed fix it. During pandemic high-price times Paul got me a better price than any of the major rental outfits (why the heck was I checking them?). Always a smooth experience. Mahalo, Paul!

The entire experience was great from start to finish. Paul is a little old school, but he was the only company that had a rental car available at a reasonable price. I called nearly every car rental place on Maui and they were either out of rental cars or priced $1,000 or more for 6 days. I called Maui Cruisers and Paul immediately told me he had a car available and at half the price of all the other companies. The process from pick up to drop off was super easy, and the next time we return to Maui we will surely be using Maui Cruisers again!

Paul and Maui Cruisers was perfect for our adventures in Maui. Communicative, jovial and accommodating, Paul made it all work! As promised, Paul had a car waiting for us at the airport and we could just drive away. After encountering an issue with the cigarette lighter (remember to bring an old school car phone charger!) Paul rolled through and swapped cars with us so we could have power to navigate around the island. As long as you are not expecting a luxury ride, Maui Cruisers offers accessible vehicles that will work perfectly for your around-Maui travels.

Paul was beyond helpful! I was concerned when all the big rental companies were either sold out or seemed overpriced. I found Maui Cruisers, and Paul was able to get us a rental for half the price of what the other rental companies were advertising. The car was older but ran perfectly fine and was great for what we needed. The whole process of getting and returning the car couldn’t have been easier. I would definitely book with him again!

I am SO happy I found Maui Cruisers after doing some searching for local car rentals companies in Maui. The prices from the big rental companies like Avis and Hertz were outrageous. After some searching and reading the Google reviews, I reached out to Paul for a rental and I am so glad I did. Paul is exactly as the other reviews describe. He is on top of communicating with you, keeping you informed (and laughing) and he will have your back! Our Toyota Corolla rental was exactly where Paul said it would be upon landing at OGG. It ran great with great AC and for half the price of the other huge rental companies, plus it made us fit in with the locals. We were able to see what felt like the entire island because of this rental car - it really made our trip and without it, we would not have been able to see all of the Road to Hana, Iao Valley, Haleakala, etc. I uploaded a few photos of the amazing places our Toyota was able to take us to see. If we ever get to return, we will certainly reach out to Paul and will be referring all of our friends and family thinking of traveling to Maui to him.If you are feeling hesitant to try a smaller company without all of the fancy online booking agreements and paperwork, etc. - dont. Just give Paul and Maui Cruisers a try and you wont be disappointed!

Paul (the owner) is a great guy and really came through with providing my wife and I a car at a solid rate when none of the car rental agencies in Maui were providing anything within reason. Picking and dropping off the car at the airport was very easy and convenient, and the Corolla drove great the entire week without issues. Paul was also easy to contact over phone call or text.

Can’t say enough about Paul! As many of you may have already noticed prices of rentals in Maui are outrageous and cars are extremely hard to come by at this particular time. Paul had our back right from the start. He is honest, affordable, friendly, loves his Island and cares about his customers. We rented an older Toyota Corolla. It was clean, got us everywhere we wanted to go and got great gas mileage. We saved money in many ways! Paul was very easy to get in touch with and responds to texts quickly. Every aspect of renting, from payment to pick up and drop off was easy and without mistakes or misunderstandings.The only thing that would have made the experience better is if we could have met Paul and shook his hand and told him thank you in person! Where do I start, we just got back from Maui a few days ago, amazing time. We couldnt have had an awesome time without Paul and his small company saving us big-time. I spent a few nights looking for a rental car for our trip and was striking out left and right. I found Maui Cruisers online and sent them a message. Paul responded the next morning and we had nice conversation and he advised me that he had Camry for us available! The only cars I could find at the time were tiny micro cars and insane rates. We messaged about the details and was a very pleasant and streamlined agreement. When we arrived, our car was waiting right there for us. No need to go to another building or talk to anyone else. The car was in great shape, had cold AC, and plenty of room for our family of 5. Without Pauls help I dont know what we would have done. Drop off was just as easy and fast, park and go catch our flight. Great customer service and very pleasant to conversate with. I rented from Paul twice about a decade ago and was very pleased with the price and the car. I dont need anything fancy, just reliable. This caused me to rent from him again this past week. The cars are definitely older model and well used but economical and got me everywhere I wanted to go. DO NOT expect a typical rental car and you will not be disappointed. The car was left in the airport parking lot and the instructions were clear as to where to pick it up. My friend and I enjoyed driving all around the island and Paul was quickly available when I had questions or concerns. Would recommend Maui Cruisers for anyone who would prefer to spend money on experiences over luxury.

I have to give Paul at Maui Cruisers the best review of any company I have ever dealt with, and I have not done any business with him! Nine months ago I called Maui Cruisers to rent a car for 8-9 months. Paul said he would not rent one to me for that long, and said he would rent to me for a week or so, but I should buy a cheap car and sell it when I leave. This was in the middle of the pandemic, there were very few tourists. The big rental companies had cars setting bumper to bumper all over town and Paul was turning down my business, telling me a better way for me to go??? Recently I called him back, he did not remember talking to me but again gave me advice on where and how to sell the car. He even offered to give additional help if I ran into problems. I sold the car and ended up saving thousands and Paul gave up thousands. Who does that?? Especially in the middle of a business killing pandemic! If I were him, I am not sure I could turn down the business. He must be a very good man.

Maui Cruisers isn’t your typical car rental agency… it’s way, WAY better. Pick up and drop off at airport was SUPER convenient. Price for a 12-day rental in August 2021 was HALF of what the big car rental agencies wanted and no hidden fees or additional taxes. (Taxes were already bundled into the quoted price). With the money saved, we could afford Sansei Sushi and lots of poke bowls from Foodland!Super efficient Toyota Corolla… got through our trip with just one tank of gas plus a $5 top-up. Car was older but very clean. Best part was that the car totally blended in with local cars (Lahaina shaka sticker and all!), so we could park at a waterfall or trailhead and be a lot less worried about break-ins than if we had had a shiny new car from a traditional rental agency.One-man show named Paul and he is a character! He gave us great advice both before and during our vacation. He really made our trip! We will only rent from Paul/Maui Cruisers whenever we return to Maui.

With the return of tourism, the supply of rental cars could not nearly meet the demand for them and prices at those places skyrocketed - Maui Cruisers has kept it real and is not charging ridiculous prices. First things first: Paul is the best. He is a super entertaining guy and he has an old-school, customer first mentality. He’s the kind of guy who keeps customers coming back for decades, not years.This was my first time going to Maui and like an idiot I waited until the last minute to book a car. Because of COVID, all the big rental companies started selling cars and shipping them to the mainland. When people started traveling again they were stuck with an inadequate supply to meet the rising demand so they started price gouging. Hertz quoted me $1700 for a 5 day standard sedan rental. Unreal.Fortunately, I called Paul. He quickly got me a quote for the fraction of the price. With all the COVID rental shortage madness, he didn’t commit highway robbery with his price like the big rental companies. To be fair, it wasn’t a flashy new Wrangler or Camaro. I have heard about plenty of car break-ins in Maui so there’s something to be said for not renting a vehicle that screams “I’m a tourist; there’s likely valuables in here.” With Paul’s cars you blend in and it got me to Hana and back without a hiccup. YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS!!! Pauls over the top customer service had my skeptical husband curious if things were too good to be true... not the case! Paul rescued us from a desperate situation. My private rental company host through Turo cancelled on me days before our family vacation. I didnt realize that was even possible and just devastated as there was literally NOTHING left available on the island (Spring Break) Paul arranged things to make sure he got us into a mini van and even texted me photos of the kid carseats I requested at no additional charge. Amazing company, friendly and family oriented for sure. If you have been to Maui more then once you see there is minimal driving and most things are within walking distance but if you do need to drive there is only one place to rent a car from and thats Maui Cruisers. They offer larger Vans for big familys, smaller cars for couples or singles and everything in between and the prices are actually fair. The larger companies quoted me almost $900 for the 8 days my family spent on the island, Maui Cruisers charged me $350! This is a no brainer, Paul is amazing and helped us every step of the way. There are no lines or waiting as they Park the car for you at the airport which makes things absolutely simple, when you leave its the same way. Local businesses support the community and the money stays on the island, not the large conglomerates! We will be back again next year for our 6th year in a row and will 100% rent from Maui Cruisers AGAIN!!!

The car got us from A to B everyday and never broke down so thats all we wanted and our wallets werent dented by the experience so we will definitely rent from Paul at Maui Cruisers when we return.

I got really tired of paying what amounts to extortion prices for car rentals in Maui from all the big commercial companies. I found Maui Cruisers while searching for an alternative and couldnt be happier. The reservation and rental process are very low key and informal. Paul has been doing this for a while and knows what hes doing to make it most convenient for the customer. Upon arrival, the car was parked in the airport lot just where he said it would be. Drop off was simple, just park it in the lot and let him know where it is! thats it! No shuttles, no lines, no hassle.The car was an older model and had a very local look about it. It ran perfect and the A/C was great....really the only two things that matter when renting a car in Maui! I paid a fraction of what I would have at any other place, including the discount companies.Mahalo Maui Cruisers!

Cant say enough good about our experience with Maui Cruisers👍 wanting to Save where we could on a Hawaiian vacation, we cut our car rental nearly 2/3rds what new car rentals would have been. Older models, but highly reliable vehicles (our family rented 2). The ease of renting and customer service was wonderful. They will have returning customer with us. 👍👍

Great car rental experience. We were staying in Maui for a month, so we were looking for an economical rental. After talking to Paul via email, we decided to go with Maui Cruisers. Our Corolla was a few years old, but mechanically perfect, and was waiting in the airport lot directly across from baggage claim. It was just what we needed during our stay and drop-off was easy - just across from the airport check-in. I will definitely use them again when we return to Maui. Thanks Paul !

Before my trip I had email Paul and he had given me a very reasonable estimate, so when it came closer to our vacation I called him and booked a car. I knew it would be an older car but the husband and I were pleasantly surprised as to how well kept the Nissan was. The air was fantastic blew out cooler air than my 2011 Honda. I got to meet Paul when we arrived at the airport, he was truly genuine and awesome to deal with! Next time we go to Maui Im hitting Paul up!

We had shopped around for a rental car and found Maui Cruisers to be by far the best deal. We got off our plane, hopped in the car, and were on our way. This company is the most convenient, hassle-free rental car company I have ever dealt with and I really wish there were more companies run the way this one is. We will definitely use Maui Cruisers next time were on the island.

My experience with Maui Cruisers was great. I was in Maui for 3 months for an internship in Haiku, I was nervous about not having a car and being stuck in the quieter part of Maui for 3 months and going a little stir crazy. I emailed Paul about renting a car and he got back to me the next day and 2 days later I had a car. The car I got me ran well and I never had any problems and I loved having a local car, it made my whole experience on Maui so much better.Paul was great the whole time he called to check in on the car and set up an easy drop off for me. I would definitely recommend Maui Cruisers for anyone looking for an easy car rental and the ability to have a more local experience in Maui!

Wonderful, easy, exactly as described, no hidden fees, and is so much easier than trying to rent a car from a bigger rental car company at the airport. Went to Maui last May, coming back this April, and am definitely going to use them again. You save so much money! We rented a jeep for a day to do the Road to Hana and the locals definitely eyeball you as a tourist. With this car, you fit in and get the true Maui experience without being that tourist. I also left my wallet in the car and they shipped it immediately to me. Thank you guys so much for helping me have such a wonderful experience in Maui!

We have rented from Paul four times in the past four years, and he always is fabulous.The rates and service are amazing. We did have a problem with one of the cars onetime, and Paul took care of it immediately, with a kind word and smile. This is theonly place to rent from, especially if you do not want to drive a new convertible orpay several times the price for something fancy.

I hadnt been home in thirteen years. Upon arriving I was dazed and entranced by just being back on Maui. I was given exceptionally clear instructions on how to find my car, and I still managed to let the brain bucket effect win. I called Paul and he kindly confirmed that the car I suspected was indeed mine. I was thrilled to see it was everything promised. An island appropriate, clean, and well maintained car. Aesthetics are certainly subjective, but when in Rome (especially when youre a returning former resident) having a car that fits in makes a huge difference. Getting friendly nods returned from people as youre driving (including cops!) and not having to worry about where youre parking were really just bonuses on top of an amazingly great deal! The price was great and they include full liability coverage. I was under 25 when I booked so it worked out to be half of the amount I was quoted by bigger car rental companies. This translates to more money to spend in Maui! It is also great that they leave the car parked for you at the airport so right when you land you arent lining up with 50 other people for a car rental. You also drop the car off in the same parking lot.We had some minor car issues, but the issue was resolved and Paul the owner issued us an apology which I very much appreciated. Paul really does stand by the reliability of his fleet and you can be sure that in the off chance (0.03%) that you face some issues, Paul will be more than generous in making it up to you.

Maui Cruisers was recommended by a local friend. Paul made the entire process easy and convenient. We rented a car for 10 days and got a great deal. The car was very reliable and we blended in like we were Locals.... We had heard of the many crimes occurring with the new looking rental cars on the various remote beaches... We decided a local used rental car would be the best choice for us... we decided we would rather break down in a used car than have our new fancy rental car broken into and all our luggage stolen or the entire car stolen! (this happened to a friend of ours recently and it ruined their vacation) .... Thankfully, the Maui Cruisers Car we rented, ran FANTASTIC and nobody messed with our local car. We will definitely rent from Maui Cruisers again!

Paul was awesome. We thought our car had broken down (ended up being just a little quirk) and Paul drove all the way across the island to help us out. Ended up chatting for a while after too. Hes got some great stories.Just a note, the cars have been loved... Meaning, things like the speedometer didnt always work but we never felt unsafe and it got us everywhere we needed to go around the island. Would recommend this place to my friends.

Paul is the MAN!! Have rented long term from him for 4 or 5 years and never has he or his Nissan Sentras let us down. Very economical and superior convenient pickup and departure arrangements. Will rent from him as long as we are able to be over there and I highly recommend his rental company and integrity.

Emailed to book a car and they told me to call them. I called literally 6 times on different days at different times (keeping in mind Hawaiian local time), and never heard from them.They apparently dont want my business. I went to Kihei Rent A Car instead. Found their service to be better and the rates were actually cheaper.

Rented last summer and Paul did a great job of getting us just what we needed. Aside from being a great guy, he gives you the best deal he can.

I had no issues with customer service what so ever. Having such a friendly and helpful person non the other end of the rental car line definitely set a great tone for our vacation.Quality of Product: 8/10Paul is very straightforward and honest about his cars: This is not going to be the shiny new car of your dreams, he told me on the phone. With all of his warnings, and with the rock bottom prices, I was expecting a much worse vehicle than I ended up with. The car was old and a bit ragged around the edges, but was small and great for what we needed, and my gf even called it cute. That being said there were some cosmetic damages and very minor issues that might bother some people. Still a great value. Got us around the island no problem, with good gas mileage, and I personally found the car to be great.Value: 10/10You really arent going to find a better deal for a reliable rental car on the island. Especially if you are under the age of 25, like myself, this is definitely the agency for you: they dont charge young driver costs, making this option hugely cheaper than any of the big name dealers or any of the other local agencies I could find. I cant stress enough how great of a deal this is. No, you are not getting a brand new vehicle, but you are getting a car that works at a price that cant be beat.Overall: 9.5/10Some very minor issues that were resolved quickly over the phone, (for example there was a bit of a trick to starting the car in which the key had to be jiggled out a hair to turn the ignition over) but overall I have no complaints and will definitely use Maui Cruisers again in the future. Renting a car should be simple and affordable. With Maui Cruisers it is! This is our 2nd time renting with Paul at Maui Cruisers and well rent here every time we come to Maui. What I want people to take away from this is that renting a good, reliable car locally can be a positive, hassle free and affordable experience.

This place is AWESOME! I called a couple weeks prior to my trip- after having a horrible experience with another agency and the way I was treated. I spoke with Paul when I called and he was incredibly helpful! He gave me a fantastic price for my dates and at the end when I told him about my experience with another agency- he not ONLY got me into one of his best cars- but also spent 30 mins on the phone with me giving me a huge list of sites to see on my trip! His laid back positive attitude and helpfulness is EXACTLY what you want to see when you go on vacation. No hassles, everything is upfront, easy, helpful AND they deliver your car to the airport baggage area for no extra fees!!!!! I will use Maui Cruisers EVERYTIME I come to Maui now and no one else!

They are there when you need them, they take care of your vehicle needs and if there ever is a problem it gets fixed in an efficient and timely manner..Thats just the way they are!! The cars are a bit older, but very well maintened. The guy who owns the place is very sensible and honest.

Very accomodating and no hassles renting a car.

We have rented from Paul at Maui Cruisers 3 or 4 times. Rented two cars at one time just last week (big family gathering on Maui). The cars fit our style of travel quite nicely: easy, if unorthodox, pick-up at the airport (it takes no longer than the the time locating the lamp post and car), NO additional charges or guilt trips regarding waivers or additional frills. Downside is that an occasional lemon will sneak through: our last cars speedometer didnt work so we had to stick a wet finger out the window to gauge the speed. But that didnt really didnt matter; you just drive at the prevailing speed.The point of the car is that its just a transport device. Its not like you want to live in it for the week. You get something fancy, and then you worry about it all week: scratches, theft, did you leave the windows down? Maui Cruisers liberates you from those concerns.

Paul was great. Called me the day before while I was on Kauai to remind me of the rental details, and texted everything to me so I wouldnt forget. The car was left at the airport for me, and I dropped it off there as well - no taxi ride or extra cost for the airport dropoff (just had to pay the parking). It was such a luxury to have an older car - new rental cars always make me nervous, and it was a blessing to blend in and look less like a tourist. (Ill never completely not look like a tourist, Im afraid.) I had trouble with the dashboard lights and called Paul a time or two. The technique he recommended (flick the reostat really hard with your finger) didnt work for me. He offered to drive over and fix it, but that seemed like a lot of trouble, so I rigged up a flashlight so I could see the speedometer at night and it was fine. (He got it working once I returned the car, he told me on the phone - guess I didnt flick it hard enough.) I had also asked about an adapter for my iPod so I could listen to music, and he very kindly included the cassette adapter (!) in the envelope with the rental agreement. We had rented from them two years previously, and I would definitely do it again. Definitely a pleasant, one-of-a-kind experience.

Totally relaxed no worries way to rent a car on Maui. The cars are non-descript local looking sedans...perfect for parking with confidence at trailheads and beaches. Pickup and dropoff could not have been easier...I received a secret agent like message describing the car and its location in the lot. Keys inside. Dropoff at the prearranged light pole in the lot, lock the keys inside, fly home. We will do this again. Driving a local look car really gets more smiles, courtesy, and shaka...
