Lefty’s is one of those barbershops where you feel at home. Great atmosphere and a great staff. Terry, the owner, is great! Tyler, my barber, is hands down the best!! While I’ve never had any of the other three barber cut my hair I wouldn’t hesitate if I had too. Honestly I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the barbers in this joint. I’ve never seen one of them give a bad cut or beard trim. If your looking to stay fresh and look sharp Lefty’s is the place.

I love this shop! I have had my hair cut almost exclusively here since they opened two years ago! I have had cuts by Tyler( my fave!), Terry, Justin, and Paige, and have left happy every time! I have also developed friendships with a few of these guys over the years, and it keeps me coming back! Their professionalism, the cleanliness of the shop, the awesome staff and decor… this shop has a customer for life!

Tyler cut my hair and my three year old sons hair and did an excellent job. He was very calm and patient with my son and really helped make the experience a positive one for him. My son was talking about Tyler for the rest of the day and how much fun he had going to the barber. We loved our haircuts and looked our best for my sisters wedding. Thanks Tyler!

Have been going to Lefty’s Ferndale to see Tyler for several months now. The shop is clean and has a great atmosphere. Great conversations and great people. Tyler does awesome work, super clean and looks great every time. If you’re looking for a barber shop in the area, you can’t go wrong with anyone at Lefty’s.

After a few disappointing cuts from DBC, I decided to check out Leftys. Justin cut my hair and is super professional and passionate about what he does. He takes care in making sure you get the cut you want. The place is decorated pretty cool too. Old school feel without all the fakeness of DBC. Leaving a 5 star review here will make it more difficult for me to schedule an appointment, but itd be unfair to give anything else. Leftys is top notch, and I refuse to go anywhere else. Since opening, Terry and his crew have given me great haircuts, so great that I feel attractive and confident for at least a week or so. You cant put a price on that. I mean, I guess you can, and they did, and its quite the bargain.

When I moved to the area I had to find a new place to go for a haircut. I did some research and landed on Leftys based on the reviews. I booked an appointment with Terry and I dont regret it one bit. From the moment I walked in (having never been in there before) Terry talked to me like we have known each other for years. I have seen this place before while either visiting Ferndale or dining, and finally I booked my appointment there for a haircut and beard trimming. Justin has been my barber for more than two years and he is now working here! He is dedicated to details, and best quality. Atmosphere is great, graffiti on the whole makes you feel you are outside and still in the great Ferndale. The place is clean and everyone is friendly. Everyone is welcome. I cannot praise Leftys enough. I was a client of Tylers at his previous shop and wanted to follow him to Leftys and am so glad I did. Well worth the 45 minute drive. The shop is always clean and inviting, the rest of the staff are always welcoming and it has that old school corner shop feel that youd have found in small town America of the 50s and 60s. I would trust all the barbers to cut my hair and trim my beard if my regular guy was not available. You will not be disappointed in Leftys so definitely give it a shot.

So I had the pleasure of having Terry Guido as my barber back when I used to go to the Hi-Hat. And followed Terry when he opened Lefty’s. #1 Terry is a phenomenal barber, whether you are getting a regular haircut or going for something more old school, or even a beard trim (never trusted a barber to touch my beard until I saw this shop’s work) this barber shop should be your go to if you are in the Ferndale/Royal Oak area. #2 My go to is Terry, but I have gotten haircuts from Jay and Tyler as well and both do a top notch job. I enjoy that I can make appointments with whoever I want, and sometimes if they aren’t fully booked I can walk in if I have to get a haircut in a pinch (Make sure to check their FB page or just make sure you schedule an appointment). I also like that I can trust anyone in that shop to do an excellent job. I have never experienced this anywhere else. #3 The shop has a great vibe, it’s clean, bright, and everyone is very personable. This is one of those shops that feels like it’s truly part of the community. Often times you will be having conversations with all the barbers and complete strangers getting their haircut. Which I think is really cool, it harkens back to the days of old school barber shops that seem harder to find, and I love that. #4 reasonable prices. Hands down it’s best shop I’ve been to in Metro Detroit. Give it a try and I promise you will be given great service.
