Austin T has been cutting my hair for years at the Ferndale location! Great location, great environment and a even better hair cut! Would recommend this location and barber to anyone.

Thanks Detroit Barber for the neck beard I’ve always wanted. I came in with a full beard and wanted it trimmed for pictures that afternoon. They inexplicably trimmed 90% of the hair on my chin to a #4 and left the bottom full length. Beard is not fixable, entire beard will have to be trimmed down to a #4 from about 3 inches long. Mustache and beard lined up unevenly. I couldn’t have done a worse job myself if I tried. If you value your beard do not come here. They offered the next beard trim on the house. After 6 months when this finally grows back the last place I will be visiting is Detroit Barbers.

My hair is shorter. I wanted a combination of 3 photos and it was done to perfection. Im very happy and satisfied with my haircut.I will say, speak up if its not exactly what you want. It was close when he stopped and I said it was fine but not what I envisioned. Its easier for them to fix before they start the finishing touches. I spoke up almost too late, but he fixed it. Its what I saw in my minds eye.Brandon did my hair, but he said hes going to the Plymouth shop when it opens.I highly recommend. Everyone else seemed happy with their cuts too. Great atmosphere.

Terrible. Got my haircut for a special occasion. They messed my hair up and still made me pay 45 dollars. I wouldnt recommend to no one. Matter of fact if any ask i will say dont go this particular barber shop...To respond to your replied. If your haircut is messed up its no fixing it. If you described your desire hair style and your 50 barbers mess up a hair style a customer desire theres no fixing their hair. A line up gone wrong is a messed up line up. If a customer ask for a 3 length or higher and your 50 barbers cut it to a 2 or a 2.5 its no fixing what a customer wanted. Thats why its critical to be on point.To further answer your question your barbers knew my was completely incorrect he saw it and the lady who taken my money saw it. To the point he didnt finish my hair cause Im sure he felt bad. As I mentioned it was for a special occasion and I had no time to further sit for more time after being there for a little over a hour to argue or let your 50 barbers try and fix a mistake to further make me look worse.And again from your response to have little to no empathy says alot how your 50 barbers think and operate. Scheduled an appointment with Jacob Wilkinson on 5/27 for 2pm. I was 20 minutes late and he did not make a big deal as he had a client in the chair. I had pictures of the haircut I wanted which was a high fade and a line on the sides and beard trim. The haircut was ok. Fade took awhile and I think it was about average. Overall the service was decent and I will return however my only concern was the $55 price tag on this haircut that I think as worth all of about $35 with a tip.

It was my 1st visit and I was treated wonderfully. The staff was welcoming and took good care of me. The young lady who cut my hair was bright, funny, knowledgeable. She was also very considerate of my wishes and did an awesome job. I highly recommend this business as another staff member did an awesome job for my husband on his 1st visit a few days prior.

Its a nice atmosphere but it has never felt like a personal experience. It feels more like a processing facility. Get in the chair, get out as quick as you can, and the result reflects that.

As a new customer, Ive only had two visits so far. First with Dave, second with Austin - both are outstanding and professional barbers. I prefer to get my hair cut every two weeks. I dont like my grey hair, so, I request a high-fade in an attempt to disguise. These guys understand, and take the time to make sure Im looking good when I leave - they dont rush you through. I drive the extra distance from Auburn Hills...its well worth the time and effort. Check it out for yourself!

20 minutes late to cut my hair- no apology. Barber was new and didn’t know what he was doing. Had to ask another barber to finish. Took so long he never got to my beard. Offered no compensation. Terrible.

Went in for a haircut with Jeff on 21Dec20. I’ve been self maintaining my hair during COVID so I look great in the front shaggy in the rear. Wanted to look good for loved-ones visiting on Christmas. Jeff cleaned up my self cut in no time; improved everything even what I had cut in the front. This barber shop gives you both fast and quality in a profession known for fast and sloppy. Set up a appointment at 11am for a executive hair cut. Ended up with a nice cut (no sideburn trim or eyebrows)at 11:30 but not what I ordered. I feel like I got a $15 cut for $30. Nothing special.Now I get the owner who is defending instead of researching. I ordered an executive cut and was assigned a barber who was 20 minutes late and the barder said he couldnt cut my hair and I was sent to another. Check your online schedule and talk to your staff before responding. Its not that big of a deal but my point was I didnt get what I ordered not that I got a bad cut.

I searched around for a barber to trim my beard and this is the place I chose. I was treated very well he at the Detroit Grooming Barber Shop. They definitely know what to do for the bearded folk. There are some many beard products sold here for all your bearded needs. I would definitely go back. The staff was so friendly. The only recommendation that I would make is to schedule an appointment. This shop tends to get busy.

He was looking beyond mountain man/caveman... he told Austin what he wanted and showed him a couple pics and he did exactly that. I took an appointment on the phone and went to the place.I arrived 5 minutes earlier and Genevieve took care of me.It was a different experience with her, she is talkative, smart and very professional. Youll never feel that shes giving you a haircut because that lady is smooth.She took her time while giving me a haircut because she is a perfectionist so, as I said she takes her time and do the job and definitely youll love the results.I recommend this place for everyone and for sure if you want my advice ask for Genevieve and Im sure that youll be a regular their.

Justin at Detroit Barber Co. gives you the kind of kind of haircut where you want to rate him 1 star, just to hog him to yourself and have the “inside scoop” on who to go to for your best haircut. However, I try to give ratings based on performance and not selfish desires - so 5 star review to him.

$40 for a fade. Nothing fancy, a basic hair cut. The cut was average, I have no complaints there, but nothing to justify the cost.

It is an extremely rare occasion that I feel compelled to write about extreme service; good or bad - I received the BEST haircut Ive had since the 80s from Jeff at Detroit Barber in Ferndale. He was very deliberate in crafting a perfect style based on my hair and my input. I tell every barber the same thing, but Jeff really got it!The above is a review from my first visit this past summer. Since then, I have only had Jeff cut my hair - and consistently increases as a careful, deliberate, artistic, and fantastic barber.

This review is based off my interactions with the stylist.I typically like my hair cut a certain way and am able to explain what I like based off past experiences. I started trying to go into detail on what I was looking to get done as this was my first time here.But there wasnt really a give and take, or a confirmed plan she just kind of dove in. So I got no chance to go into detail on what I like. There was no checking in throughout the process on the length, look, etc.Also, I never faced the mirror once. Not sure if this a barber shop thing or what. Even If i attempted to look at the mirror at any point or check in, I just kind of slowly got turned back around and wasnt given a chance to explain. Maybe they thought I didnt get it?It was stressful, I had no idea what was going on the entire time until the end. If you youre not picky and want your stylist going rogue, this is your spot.

Ive been to Detroit Barbers in Ferndale a couple of times (both pre-pandemic and mid-pandemic) and all experiences have been fantastic.The team makes the whole process seamless, from making an appointment to the procedure once you arrive, and finally (and perhaps most importantly) the quality of the cut you receive. I can personally only speak to the straight hair cut and the beard trim, but the barber shop definitely has a diverse range of regulars. The haircuts tend to fall on the expensive side, but you get a high quality service at the end of the day and for me, its worth it.During COVID-19, you can expect to wear a mask at all times during your visit to the barber shop, have your temperature screened, and your barber will disinfect all equipment and use hand sanitizer before your haircut (while wearing a mask). Personally, Im really glad to see that the business is adhering to guidelines very well and keeping safety high on their priorities!Overall, Id say this is a great spot to get your haircut in Michigan, its not cheap, but definitely worth it.

Thanks Jeff for the great impromptu hair cut. I went in for a consultation for maintenance for my hair replacement system and got a great cut also. Jeff really studies his client before starting and I appreciated that a lot. I know a lot about this system and the installation and maintenance process and felt confident in Jeff’s knowledge and abilities as well. It was a great first experience. Nice people from cashier to owner. I felt comfortable talking about what is essentially a “toupee” in front of the other hair professionals as well as the clientele and I think they were all impressed with Jeff’s abilities as well. I can’t wait to earn my 11th (free) cut at my new shop.

I had an executive haircut by Day and it was perfect. His attention to detail is what keeps me rebooking. I enjoy the professional atmosphere and social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I felt like the guy who cut my hair had to have a vendetta against me. I dont know him and it was my first time there, and I even tipped him *Paid 60 on a 40 dollar cut* but to have messed up my hair this badly he had to have ulterior motives.This was the worst haircut I have ever had in my life, I will be in hiding for the next couple of weeks. My hairline is slanted, even though I paid to have my beard trimmed my mans just straight up would not do it.This place is twice as expensive as everywhere else but this barber is terrible. I refuse to believe he has actual training at this job.

Hands down the worst haircut experience I have ever had. The barbershop attempted to fit me in between two bookings, rushed my haircut because the next appointment had arrived - they were early. The barber cut way too much off. I was asked to go upstairs to have my cut completed so the barber could move on to his next appointment.

Great barber shop with some excellent hair products. Way overpriced though. For a skin fade (with clippers not a straight blade) which is no more than $20-25 anywhere else, I paid $40 here and then I still had to tip the barber on top of that so it was $50 out the door. There is no reason for the price to be that high. My haircut takes 20 minutes max.
