Love this complex. The staff is incredible. Any slight issue they are quick to respond. Wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in west village. Kelly has been nothing short of amazing.
ALARA Uptown is amazing. The new staff is great I have no issues with them. They were so friendly and welcoming. I dont know whats going on with the birds but the staff is wonderful with animals. Ive taken my dog and bird in to the office before and they are super sweet with them both.
Great location, staff is always willing to go above and beyond. Shara and Jesus are great!!
Do you like the sound of songbirds? A bird perched on your window? If you care about animals or birds, or if you have children or pets, make sure to ask Alara about how they treat local birds. I was horrified when I heard from someone who lives in the neighborhood. I am waiting to lease a new unit myself but PASS ON ALARA.
I work for a local apartment locator service and have truly enjoyed working with Shara at ALARA Uptown. She always provides us with relevant updates and has made scheduling tours for our clients a breeze! I can always count on her to get back to me ASAP when any of our clients or locators have questions regarding pricing or availability!
This is a well built building (built like a high rise) but has only 5 floors which makes it easy to access your apartment or exist when elevator does not work. It has excellent amenities including washer and dryer in each apartment and very important for me hardwood flooring instead of carpeting. Every apartment has a balcony and you get a your own parking place in a secure parking garage below. My studio apartment is also well positioned near the elevator, stairs, recycling and garbage chute and yet noise is not the problem from these features.
Management has poisoned hundreds (if not more) birds. Dead and painfully dying birds have been found all around the property and nearby streets. Absolutely evil. Shame on anyone who works here
A month in, and problems whatsoever for me. Awesome apartment.
Alara Uptown has been baiting birds with poison for months, maybe even years. This severely impacts all wildlife and even domestic animals in the area. There are dead and dying birds all over West Village. Dallas Animal Services investigated and confirmed they are indeed poisoning the birds, but unfortunately, DAS do not have jurisdiction over this ordinance.
Bird killers!! What is WRONG with you people?! Hundreds of birds were poisoned by this company. You should be ashamed of yourself, Alara.
Cant beat the location & cleanliness. The staff is wonderful and maintenance is on top of it. Updated interiors was important to me, and they are beautiful. Quiet, respectful neighbors. I LOVE living here. I never have to drive on the weekends. Walking distance to all major stores (especially a trader joes!!), tons of restaurants/bars and quick access to Katy Trail. Best spot to live in!
My car has been broken into FOUR times and I’ve lived here less than a year. Each time management’s response is “well, did you lock you car?” Which I do, every single time. Hire a security guard, invest in security cameras, DO SOMETHING or else no one is ever going to want to live here. You can’t control criminals but you can control how you react and the concern, consideration, and professionalism you show your residents who pay a lot of money to live here. One of the many reasons I will not be renewing.
I’ve been working with Nick Porter for about a month now to tour the Alara, apply for the unit and get everything else all settled. I’m taken aback at how professional Nick is and how above and beyond he’s gone for me. The specific unit I applied for has a swapped floor plan, so in order to make me understand, Nick hand wrote and scanned my personalized, floor plan for me.Additionally, I’ve been asking Nick questions almost daily (and I know I can get annoying) and he responds so quickly and with a smile. Nick is so personal and easy going. He really puts his clients first!I’ve never met another leasing agent to go above and beyond for me. I’m super impressed and excited to continue working with Nick, and eventually move into the Alara!
Shara is amaze-balls
The staff do a wonderful job with the community. It’s a great place to live and they truly look out for you as best as they can. Also in a great location with great amenities! Jessica and Kelly are truly the best!
Great place to live! Location is fantastic, floor plans big and practical, solid amenities and the staff has been very helpful and always straight forward. Highly recommend.
It is a beautiful community, look clean and well maintained. Floor plan is modern and practical. Unfortunately, my experience with the leasing office was unpleasant, the leasing agent totally ruined the experience. I have decided to look elsewhere.
I had a great experience at Alara Uptown. The staff is great, especially Alexis at the leasing office - she is a lovely person with a bubbly and helpful personality. She went out of her way to address my every need and she and Kelly treated my dog like a member of their family! The units are very nice, well insulated for noise, and the building is very secure with nice amenities. Maintenance issues were addressed promptly. I would definitely recommend renting here!
Great community/Apartments. Biggest issues are car break ins and elevators not working. Need more security and staff pass non-business hours given the area/activity. No issue with the staff. They do the best they can given the situation. Hire a night and early morning staff and you guys would be perfect. 👌👌.
I’ve lived in Alara Uptown for four years and I cannot express enough how much I love it here. It’s the only complex I’ve ever lived in and I have no plans of moving any time soon. I’ve always loved the management team and truly feel they go out of their way to accommodate/help the residents. Especially during COVID-19, they’ve gone above and beyond. Love Alara!! I would recommend to anyone!
Stay away from this property! The management staff is always changing policy’s and make it very difficult to enjoy your own home. We have had several of our guest vehicles towed which is embarrassing and very inconvenient. On top of the security staff that should be patrolling the apartment complex does not respond . I had an incident one night where there was a suspicious guy waiting by the elevator pretending to tie his shoe. I was parking my vehicle and as soon as turned it off the man ran to my vehicle and tried to attack me. I quickly turned on my vehicle and sped out of the parking garage. Unfortunately he did tear off my door handle off the driver door . I informed the police since no one on the actual property showed up to assist. Also I would like to include we had a very bad any problem during the summer even after having pest control come out and treat our apartment the problem persisted all the way into the winter time. We are at the end of our lease now and this is what bothers me the most ! Management staff left a letter at our door 60 days before our lease was up so that we can reach back out to end our lease. Well unfortunately I did not see the letter until the next month or so due to my busy lifestyle and traveling 70% of the time. As soon as I saw the letter I reached out to the leasing office and advised I wanted to end my lease as planned . The management staff has a 60 day notice policy which if you fail to inform them of your move it forces you to pay an extra month or 2 of your rent at about 40% increase in price. Also they did not try and reach out either by phone or via email to inform of this . Even after reaching out to management they were unable help with this situation. The list goes on and on but I hope this review will help make your decision before leasing at this property.
I currently went to tour this apartment complex and I was greeted by Meg. She did a wonderful job explaining all details, giving me a tour of the apartment complex and showing me all of the features and amenities. The apartment complex is beautiful and has a perfect location in my opinion. Meg also has a great personality! I just signed my lease and cant wait to stay here! I will definitely write another review regarding my experience.
Save your money and rent someplace else. WORST management I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I’ve lived here for over a year and never met managers with such a terrible personality, customer service, and lack of professionalism. Given the fact that tenants indirectly pay their salaries, you think they’d show some manners but that’s not the case here.
Ive lived here for a year now, and just renewed my lease for another year, and didnt have problems with the management as some have stated. Great location and Ive never felt unsafe since everything requires fob access. Visitor parking is slim, but at the right hours, theres street parking. Cameron and Meg have also always been great at answering my questions and dealing with any of my concerns. The apartments are clean with great amenities. Elevators are pretty slow and maybe 2-3x a month the one near the dog park intermittently stops working throughout the day, but I can always take the stairs or go to the other elevator so its not a big deal. Elevators being slow isnt something that they can control anyway. Residents are friendly too. Its worth checking out if youre looking to move.
Im a current resident here and below are some of my own observations of my experiences living at Alara. Living at this apartment has been one of the worst experiences of my life. Car break-ins, fire alarms and broken elevators are the norm. My car got broken into in the parking garage and my golf clubs and other things were stolen. In the past few weeks alone, I have seen multiple other cars with shattered windows and glass all over the ground. The community manager showed no sympathy and was extremely rude. They have done nothing to address past break-ins and it is my belief that they do not care about the safety of its residents and their personal belongings. The elevator closest to my apartment has been out of order for the majority of the last 3 months. Last week there were two fire alarms that went off past 11pm....I was fooled by the nice apartment/amenities and I truly regret living here. I cannot wait for my lease to expire...
I lived at ALARA Uptown in an A2 unit for a little over 4 years, and overall I had a great experience living here. I only recently moved to be a little closer to work and find an area with more green space for my dog. Giving the property 4 stars because I think there are some areas for improvement, but overall my experience with Greystar management was positive, and I would definitely recommend the property to other young professionals working in Dallas. Pros/Cons of the property for me were:Pros:- Location is fantastic...so easy to hop on 75 to go Downtown or take McKinney straight down to Knox/Henderson or Mockingbird area. The West Village area is very walkable with tons of shops and restaurants, and it was always super easy to hop on the trolley or find scooters/bikes for rent everywhere, if thats your jam.- Apartment finish out is modern and spacious. Loved the kitchen in my unit and the huge counter space, super high ceilings, modern appliances and fridge with water dispenser that I miss now! I never had any sort of pest or appliance issues, the gym and pool were nice amenities, and overall I felt safe in the building - which is why I stayed for nearly 5 years!- Noise control: I had an inside unit that faced the courtyard rather than looking out to the streets, so noise was hardly ever an issue for me, especially in such a high traffic area. I imagine if you faced 75 or Blackburn it may be a different story, but the courtyard area was perfect.- Package Lockers: About a year into my living there Alara installed Luxer One package lockers next to the mailroom, which were great. I always knew when I had a package delivered, and didnt have to rush home to pick up from the office before they closed. Great amenity.- Maintenance: The property is pretty well maintained, and I always had a great experience with my maintenance requests. They were always answered within a day and would leave a note so I knew the work was completed.Cons:- Parking and safety: For me, the parking situation needs some TLC. I had an assigned spot close to the staircase I used, which was great, but the garage gates and elevators were broken fairly often. I had my car burglarized once, and also ran into a man sleeping in the stairwell near dog park on my way home from work. Adding more patrol or security cameras would be my recommendation.- Visitor parking and just generally having people over was frustrating. Youre required to request a 24-hour visitor parking permit from the office during business hours in order to have guests park in the visitor spots without being towed...and they WILL tow! This made it difficult if you had guests over after business hours or for a weekend. The call box also never worked for me, and since the building is FOB-access only, I would always have to walk down to the street to greet guests or deliveries.- Pet maintenance: The dog park is tiny and only had one bench, so we rarely used it. While living along 75 was great for commuting, it was not ideal for walking a dog late at night. I also found that many owners did not pick up after their pets. I actually reached out to request a trash can be placed in the stairwell in the northeast corner of the garage to prevent people from throwing their trash on the ground as they came in from the garage or in from the dog park. By the time I moved out there had not been one placed there, but that may have changed.- Fire Alarms: This isnt really the fault of the property, but living in such a dense building resulted in frequent fire alarms going off. In my last 6 months living there we had to evacuate at least 6 times, often at night and once in the rain for 1+ hour while we waited on clearance from the fire dept. Ive been in my current place for about 5 months and it hasnt happened once. This is just one of those things that I think comes from living in an urban apt like this with a fairly young community.
I have lived at Alara Uptown apartments for over three years and absolutely love it! I mostly love the location, safety, and overall community.
The leasing agents are the most unprofessional and rude people I have met. They treat you like they are doing you a favor and regularly lie about things - oh and also send threatening e-mails. They have no consideration for you as a tenant and have no management skills whatsoever - receiving package? There is a good chance they will hold it hostage, lose it or send it back to the shipper after they have told you theyll hold it a few days for you.
Alara uptown is located in the middle of West Village, the hottest area in Dallas. I absolutely adore the staff they have and love working with them as a vendor. This property gives you amazing customer service, if you need help finding anything in Dallas, they are the ones that know!
Do yourself a favor and avoid this property at all costs. Some of the most unprofessional individuals I have ever encountered in my time renting in the Dallas area. PLEASE AVOID THIS APARTMENT BUILDING!!!!!!
I have lived here for 2 years and although there are typical issues, like any apartment community, this staff makes sure you are taken care of. The maintenance guys are awesome and prompt and MacKenzie is wonderful with everything. Feels like family.
I love living here because of the building amenities, safety of the building and also the location!
Went to visit a girl, had dinner with her, came back down to my truck 2 hours later. It was towed.. I was parked in the visitor parking area. Am I not a visitor? Why am I being towed if Im a visitor in the visitor parking area?!?! Complete BS!
The location is convenient because it is right off of the highway. Great place!
Ive been here for a few months and have already experienced vandalism and theft on 2 separate occasions. These heinous acts happened in the parking garage below the apartment complex. Although the entrance and exits of the garage are monitored and recorded by cameras, vandals and thieves seemed to have gotten away with denting my cruiser and stealing 2 expensive bicycles. The only reason I give this place 3 stars is because of its convenient location to Uptown attractions. However, our close proximity to the other side of the highway leaves a sense of great concern.
Lived here for a couple of years before the high rises were built up around it. Really enjoyed it at the time.
Currently living at Alara Uptown but moving out in 2 months. Will update this review when the move-out is final as that experience will definitely have a big impact on my overall experience here.Context - I live on the highest floor (5) and in the corner so I cant speak to any noise.Pros:- Location is obviously amazing, being right off 75 is good and bad as our intersection (Noble) doesnt have a stop light so there have been accidents with people trying to turn left onto Blackburn- Resident Parking: 2 parking spots came with my apartment which is great. The garage had some issues a few months back that took over a week to fix but generally its fine. Ive never heard of any burglaries (although who knows if management would actually tell us)- Maintenance is the best in the business. Every request has been filled in a timely manner and the work has always been great.- The apartments are beautiful - not totally modern but I have an updated unit with a Nest thermostat and 2 very spacious closets which I love.Cons:- Cleanliness: Im fine with pets. But this building is not equipped with the proper cleaning staff. If you take the stairs you will always find trash or feces. Beware.- Amenities are just okay - the pool is nothing spectacular and the gym is small and not well equipped. The community grill is also filthy- Management: I have a few issues with management overall related to communication with tenants. Previously weve had an elevator broken almost every other week and management would never tell us which were broken.. so youd wait for 10 minutes for an already slow elevator just to realize that it wasnt coming. I sent an email to the management team and they quickly started giving tenants more regular updates. The other issue I had was with a friend getting towed from visitor parking because he put the pass in the car in a way that you couldnt clearly see the expiration date. My issue was that you know hes a guest of a resident because he at least has a pass, so why just tow him? The parking pass situation is already the stupidest thing Ive ever heard of but more on that later.Management seems to be responsive enough although I have sent emails without responses and I have no clue if they actually read them (I added a second car to my lease and wanted the info added to the car log so I wouldnt get towed. I havent been towed yet so I guess that means they got the email but no one ever responded). There are other more personality related issues I have with management but none of them would make me tell you not to live here.- Visitor Parking: THE DUMBEST SYSTEM THAT ONLY WORKS DURING BUSINESS HOURS. There has to be a better way to enforce parking restrictions than requiring tenants to go to the leasing office (during biz hours) and request 1-2 day parking passes. We have less than 20 visitor parking spots and I can almost bet that tenants just tell their visitors to park on the street because getting a parking pass is such a hassle. There is actually a good amount of available street parking in the area so you should be fine either way.- Entrances: This is small but all of the entrances dont have a key fob entry system so you either have to go in through the garage, no matter where you exited the building, or enter by the leasing office. Theres also an entrance across the dog park but it smells like urine (obviously) so I wouldnt recommend walking through there unless you have to. One of the Managers told me months ago that the other doors were supposed to be hooked up for re-entry with a key fob (currently you can only exit) but that hasnt happened- Elevators: THE SLOWEST ELEVATORS KNOWN TO MAN. But this isnt just an Alara thing...Ive visited friends at other properties and apparently all the buildings have elevators from this one company and they are all slow. As I stated above, the elevators do break every once in awhile so that can be a hassle depending on where your apartment is.
Cant beat this location. Less than 10minutes to good places.
Fought through traffic to tour apartments before they close at 7 pm. Showed up at 6 pm sat outside because front doors were locked even though I could see staff helping tenants. Waited 15 minutes only for the guy to tell us he wont be able to help us today even though theyre open for another 45 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous dont waste your time
Probably one of the worst places Ive rented from. No visitor parking unless you go through the whole process of getting a 1 day pass (forget about having your girlfriend over after the front offices closes, her car will get towed). No way to park your motorcycle inside either, has to stay in the unguarded visitor parking.Birds everywhere, makes outside common areas gross and really unappealing.Pretty noisy appartements, because right next to construction sites
The location is first of all convenient. Since it is right next to the highway, you have a very quick access using 75/Central to downtown work or entertainment/shopping to the north. Additionally, the location is easily walkable to the West Village, within a couple of minutes (essentially almost across the street). Further, the location is also quickly walkable to the CityPlace West stop on the Dart Rail. You can use this to either ride the Dart Rail to downtown OR catch the Uptown (Free) trolley. The Uptown Trolley is a delight for this area, and provides service all up and down McKinney Avenue up until 12 midnight on the weekends (sometimes later). Think of this as a free taxi service! The flooring is hardwood, with the “hand scraped”, design. The flooring is a step above…and is so much easier to keep clean, because the dark grooves hide dirt! And, the hardwood is generous…it covers not only the living room, but extends through the kitchen, so your entire outer living areas are all hardwoods! This gives a super warm feeling. The kitchen included a huge lighter granite island with plenty of overhang/lip…you could easily put 4 to 6 bar stools on the island in the 2 bedroom. The subway backsplash were a light stone color….I love it when that subway look is used! The oven is way above “standard apartment” fare, with a Whirlpool Accubake electric range top. There was also very ample space for storage, and a very handy built in desk right next to the kitchen. The living room on the 2 bedroom floorplan is very open and blends perfectly into the kitchen and other rooms. There is space enough for 2 couches (one regular and one love seat). The model had a small almost buffet style table with about 4 chairs. The balcony from the living room also had enough space for a 3 or 4 chairs. My only disappointment in the apartment itself was the lack of a stand up shower that makes life easier. The Alara still has the “tub/shower” combination that is so typical in apartments. For additional information, please review my further thoughts at Uptown101 .
I don’t know why there are so many horrible reviews. I’ve lived here 3 years and despite the WHALE that lives above me I just resigned my lease.
