Just started a one-year full-time student membership and I’m loving it! Nobody hogs equipment, people are considerate of their surroundings, and are consistent with wiping down equipment after each use. I also appreciate the amount of space in this gym— you never feel cramped in a corner when you’re working out. I love the tall ceilings + windows. If you’re interested, you can tour the place with one of the managers anytime— someone’s always around to give a tour + answer questions. You also get a free workout to try it out! I highly recommend doing so :)
Id rather support these guys than a national chain for sure. Theres a decent amount of in-person classes, and I never feel like Im battling it out for equipment. Safety protocols are taken seriously, and the staff is great about hygiene. One small gripe is that the elliptical/treadmill TVs only play a few fuzzy channels, but for the price, Cheetah is a great deal.
Truly a wonderful gym and classes! I just wish they would bring back the childcare option.
Large, well equipped & well maintained. Friendliest & helpful staff staff
Amazing GROOV3 class with Angie Monday nights! Free parking was a plus. I wish there would have been a new client free trail instead of $18 for a drop in but would def go back to take that class!
Good solid gym. Assorted equipment and reasonable hours.
Not only is this a wonderful clean gym with great classes and instructors, the customer service is top notch. Jack, the manager, is incredibly helpful and professional. Good place, good people.
I’m really enjoying this gym so far. Very friendly staff. They are also really making the effort when it comes to keeping clients and staff safe. I feel safer there than I do in the grocery store. Masks are required, everyone gets a bottle of spray disinfectant to bring with them, and it really feels like everyone cares. It’s a nice open feeling space with great people.
Cheetah has hung tough during COVID and kept the place both accessible and safe. Best gym around!
Best gym !
Ive belonged to Cheetah Gym for 3.5 years. It has a great community and is welcoming to everyone. For being an independent neighborhood gym, they also attract some great instructors for strength training, dance fitness, and spin. The bathrooms and amenities in the locker room could be improved but Ive much enjoyed my time being a member here. Much more so than LA Fitness where I was a member for only a couple of years.
This gym is great! Never too busy when I go, which is what I prefer. Great service and friendly staff; I dont even pay for a trainer but their trainers have talked to me and always greet me with and know me by name. They also care about the community and offer local business and teacher membership discounts.
Angie is so helpful! The entire staff is very nice. Plenty of equipment that is well kept.
Excellent gym, cute decor, great location in the heart of Andersonville. Feels like a boutique gym, never crowded, staff is always friendly.
Excellent fitness classes. Staffs were professional and did know how to handle everyone well. Clean facility too. This place is perfect.

Cheetah Gym is great! I was a member for over a year (only stopped because I moved across the country). The facilities were always clean and there was always plenty of equipment available. Not too much in the way of trendy bells and whistles, but they have everything you need to work out: free weights, barbells, cardio equipment, etc. The vintage decor is unique and interesting. Staff are uniformly friendly and helpful. My favorite part of the gym were the group exercise classes. They have them at a wide variety of times to accommodate different schedules. Instructors were never judgmental and made an effort to work with people at different fitness levels while still providing a challenging workout. My only criticism of this gym was that sometimes the upper floor got very warm. Perhaps the older building is not well set up for air conditioning? But the benefits of this gym far outweigh the negatives.
Really nice actually.
Took a great yoga class!
Great classes and a super fun gym. I never feel self conscious or like people are hard-core gym goers. Everyone is nice, open, and the classes are super fun. Its never too crowded, I can always find a treadmill if I need one.
Excellent staff. Clean facilities. Good group of people working out. No judgment and a lot if encouragement. Love this gym.
Love the ambiance- a rustic loft look! the staff is super friendly and the clientele is kind, mature and focused. I also LOVE my trainer.
Great group fitness classes, especially yoga. Tons of equipment.
Quality gym. Great staff, really accommodating to me. Really good facilities clean showers and great weights section. .Would highly recommend
Allways great experience especially management
Cool old gym. It’s a bit crowded around some of the equipment and was disappointed they didn’t offer smoothies though it looked like they had a kitchen to offer it. Good looking crowd around the gym.
I come here regularly. It’s never very crowded, the facilities are great. Some aging equipment but it looks like they’re working on getting them up to date. The people are really nice and the employees leave you alone. There is a large LGBT+ crowd there, but you wouldn’t think twice about it, again, because everyone’s so nice. They try to keep the place clean. Sometimes there’s a funky odor coming thru the place but it’s not their fault, I don’t think.Location is great, right in the heart of downtown Andersonville, with a parking lot in the back.
As much as Im a fan of the gym, Im extremely over the valet. They have been giving me a you dont belong here vibe for the entire year that Ive been a member. Ive 1) heard snarky remark about not being diagonal enough in my spot 2) watched one guy only hold the parking pass by the tip of his fingers like the black was going to rub off on him 3) gotten hostile stares from a third one. Then yesterday one rep just refused to let me into the lot. I repeatedly asked him was the lot full. While blocking the entrance, he kept yelling about me having to park on the street. I asked why. He could never respond. He just kept repeating to park on the street. Finally I drove around him. He blocked the entrance even more. I asked for at least the fifth time was the lot full. His response, Are you going in the gym? Why in the WORLD would I be driving into the entrance if I wasnt going into the gym? All the front desk people know me. At least a handful of instructors know me by name, and one even screams my name out if he sees me from across the gym. There is no possible way he does not know Im a member when I hand a pass to this man at least three to four times a week.I am super over it. Theres only so many times that I can just ignore what seems like passive aggressive racism (or at least profiling) from this valet group.-------------------------On a separate note, and when I park on the street instead of the parking lot, its all love. My favorite classes are WERQ and Zumba with Shanae (who ALWAYS nails the routines and makes me want to dance harder), WERQ with Spencer (who is surprisingly upbeat on a Saturday morning) and Pilates with Rachel (whose class Ive been consistently going to since I joined). I like Shauna Bs yoga classes, mainly because its more about stretching and toning and less about tricks. Ive gone to a bunch of other yoga classes, but I just honestly dont care about standing on my head or backbends. I just want functional flexibility, and shes my ideal yoga instructor.Although I didnt last in kickboxing, Jason is always pleasant, friendly and precise. He means business in his classes, and I tried as much as possible to pay attention to all of his self-defense techniques. I highly recommend at least giving his class a shot. Im far more of a dance/yoga/pilates person, but hes dope. The gym itself is cool. I lose interest in being on treadmills, stationary bikes and weight machines after awhile, but the rebounder is fun to jump on. Personally I like this gym more for the classes. But I have had it up to here with the parking reps. I seriously considered renewing my annual membership, but Im furious with the parking attendants. At this point, Id rather find another gym where I can just park in the parking lot and not deal with them at all.
My gym is awesome! Full range of machines, freeweights, and classes. Plenty of lockers and bonus steamroom in the basement. Parking in back. Im always greeted and made to feel welcome by staff which, unlike other gyms Ive patronized, are the same people as when I joined. Good value for the money.
Enjoyed my time as a member.
Pretty cool gym. They do crossfit, and theyre kind of affordable. I dont know, I wasnt overly impressed, I just want my free Google mug.
Ive been going to this Gym for around 4 years now, weight lifting only, I love that they have a towel service, and their machines, locker room and floors are clean, the staff is very friendly too. The sauna room is small but dont use it often. They have multiple classes included in the membership. Wifi provided for free and also you can use the PCs at front desk. All nice perks.Oh! free Coffee in the mornings! 🙌🏻☕️
Great gym with a strong Chicago feel. So much bigger on the inside than youd think looking at it from the sidewalk. Great classes and staff as well.
Its not state of the art or luxurious, but it meets my needs. There are a wide variety of classes on the schedule including day time classes, which are great for me as I work from home. So far, my favorite instructors are Charlie W for Mixxed Fit, Kevin R for Pilates, Tracey G for WERQ, and Nicole for Cardio kickboxing (a demanding class!). There are still many instructors I have yet to try. Front desk staff are very nice. There is a bad smell in the lobby area - they need to work on that.
Love it here! The classes and trainers are fantastic! When I first started going I lost 20lbs in 3 months! Of course you have to work hard but its so worth it.I also trained with wesley, he taught me a lot that I apply when I workout alone. Jason is a phenomenal trainer as well, he teaches muay thai and a weekend warrior class, great way to start your day. Tracy has bootcamp classes that will push you. Jack- omg his classes will kick your butt but theyre worth it, he works on building strength and agility. With critter youll do a variety of different things each week; TRX, kettlebell, medicine ball etc and help tone. Deborah ab classes are to die for! My core became so strong and my obliques started showing-I love her classes. The daycare workers are so attentive and great with children and rest of staff is awesome. The gym itself has a wide variety of equipment, barbells go up to 100#, dumbbells go to 60# maybe more. An area where you can do TRX and abs, soo many squat racks, battle ropes, stretching area, bands, medicine balls and my fave, a punching bag.Theres also an area where you can spare and they have everything you will need.I also love when I was working out by myself, a trainer gave me some pointers-shout out to Justin!Cant wait to get back there! I had to take 4 months off due to pregnancy complications but in July Ill be back!
I have been a member at cheetah for about three years. They have been very flexible with my membership due to my injuries. The staff are always welcoming and available. The majority of the time the equipment is working and if it is broken, typically they repair it within a short period of time. The gym is a great neighborhood gym and is clean.
Fun, friendly outgoing staff that personalizes each work out to their clients needs.
Great space, has most everything a weight-lifter needs. $15 day pass but guests come free with a member.
The overall quality of this gym is the best that I have visited, in Chicago.
Its really been cleaned up & run well in recent years. The hours and location make it ideal for my family. The equipment is a bit old and dated but always in working order. The staff couldnt be nicer & always willing to work with people to resolve any issues.
Great neighborhood gym, fun, attractive clientele. Very clean, very pretty loft space. Well lit, not too loud. Appreciative and non-pushy member services. Towel service, free lockers, steam room. Great classes and ancillary equipment available for member use, such as boxes, kettlebells, TRX, etc. Basic sports nutrition available, free WiFi.
Great atmosphere. Good variety of equipment for a good workout and friendly staff.
I am a new(er) member to this location after having been a member at the Bucktown location for a year. I prefer going in the mornings because its nice and empty. The staff is always friendly and willing to help and the layout is spacious and allows for a non-crowded workout.
Was unhappy with the level of service during my last visit. Attempted to enquire about a membership and I was turned away because I did not have a shirt on. This gym is not for me. So many of these gyms are turning into country clubs, it is hard to find a real gym where I can get a hardcore workout.
Great Andersonville sexy-daddy gym, beautiful space, neighborhood vibe.
Im actually a member here and have been now for about 5 years, I love everything about this gym its clean, well stocked all the machines are well kept and the guest service is great, never wait for a machine here and everyone is pretty friendly you never feel uncomfortable even next to the meat heads lol. And the eye candy here is abundant too lol.
Excellent classes!! My favorite are the kick boxing, zumba and werq. The only reason Im giving Cheetah 4 stars and not 5 is because the room where they hold the classes is just too small and they dont do a good job of limiting attendance.
No parking lot. To open to the public view for me
Overcrowded with members and equipment. Since the closure of their Edgewater location a year ago this location in Andersonville has become very overcrowded. Theres too much equipment on the floor making it difficult to get around, though everyone seems to be after the same few machines so theres a wait issue. The mens locker room reaks of cigarette smoke from the bar next door as they smoke in the basement over there and it seeps through into the lockers and your belongings. The locker room is also ridiculously cruisy with inappropriate behavior. They do have a small parking lot in back of about 15 or so spots, which is free with validation, but youre expected to tip the guy who watches over it...which adds to the cost of your membership if you drive. The staff is nice and friendly, but due to pressure from owners theyre unable to do much when it come to compliaints or issues that might arise. The owners are all about the $ and dont worry too much about doing right by their members. Unless these are things youre after in a gym Id avoid this place. Its seems theyre in financial ruin anyways, recently sold the Bucktown location, and I hear they now have an $80 initiation fee to join.
Great atmosphere for working out with friendly staff!
Fair price for a clean and well staffed gy.
Friendly staff; love the woods and plants; frequently broken equipment; smelly basement
Seriously in need of fumigation. I have been coming for a while. It has always been a bit like this. You get used to it after 10 min. But now it is really intolerable
Its great, but it makes you sweat! Yuck!
It could use some updated equipment. Some of the machines need maintenance. A lot of the killing machines do not follow smoothly.
Similar to the WP location. LOVE
I just tried contacting them via chat on their website. Whoever was on the other end just dropped the conversation without answering my questions.
Old equipment with cracked padding, machines stay broken for a long time (telling me they don’t do regular maintenance), poor HVAC system, not very clean, men’s locker room always has water pooling on the floor.
Great gym, staff, equipment and classes
Great neighborhood gym
Old equipment and very expensive.
Great gym.
Clean, airy.
Great facility
Friendly
Good place to exercise and de-stress.
