As a starter apartment Time Square has been below average at best. One word to describe this place is GROTESQUE. Between the cockroaches and other bugs I constantly find running around the apartment common areas and my room I couldnt stand being in my unit/building. The smell of the building and its common areas were also absolutely unbearable, the floors and hallways have not been cleaned for years and the dirt and Cigarette smell would make any guest super uncomfortable. The building is full of random homeless people that are easily let in from the outside and that sleep in stair wells and hall ways of the building. Laundry/dryer units as well as the elevators are broken down every other day making this building a headache to live in. The mail system in this building is a joke, there have been multiple incidents of packages being stolen or not received, which the apartment on site management is absolutely zero help on. In general, this place has been somewhat a nightmare to live in and not worth the price posted. If you can stay away from this property and their management do so. I have never been disgusted and frustrated with a property / property management in my life.

Under previous management, Times Square was a great community to live in, but the new Senior Property Manager has been incredibly unresponsive. I have filed multiple noise complaints about neighbors loud TV, music, and arguing, and not only has there not been any remedy, there hasnt even been a response. Especially since weve been home so much this past year, its very disruptive and not conducive to a pleasant living environment.

I’ve lived at Times Square for one week. So far, all of the staff have been very prompt & attentive! The maintenance guys are the BEST, they’ve been so helpful & quick with everything, they’re super cool too!Tammi, the new property manager, has been exceptionally awesome though! She is very patient and nice. I was having ongoing issues with my Parcel registration and she solved it so quickly! She IMMEDIATELY informed me when it was fixed as well, which I appreciate! She even thoroughly answered all of my new-tenant questions too. Thanks! 😊

The following email was sent to Joseph at Chicago Rentals over ten days ago and there has yet to be a response:We have a few issues at the Times Square Apartments. Things have been getting increasingly worse in the last six months.First, my wifes bike has been stolen from the secure bike room. What is the point of it being tagged by your company if no one cares that it was stolen? Stolen by one of the residents as you must have a key to enter the room. That is ridiculous. Do the cameras work? I will watch every second of the footage to find out who stole her bike. (Update: when the woman in the office was told of the incident, she didnt seem to care and said she would call when she reviewed the video - no one has called.)Secondly, packages are no longer being placed in the package center. These packages are then opened by whomever and contents stolen. The emptied boxes are just left out in the open or thrown in the alley. Why arent packages being placed in the lockers? Isnt that why we have them? (See attached photo of the package situation below. Package center on the left. Packages on the right. Doesnt seem to make any sense to me...)Thirdly, there are so many people that wander the building or sleep in the hallways. Ive found multiple people that do not live in the building inside. People sleeping on the floor of my hallway. People hanging out in the stairwells or laundry room. I do not feel safe here.We have expressed these issues to our building office but no one seems to care.Im not sure what you can do but something should be done. We pay way too much money to live here and have our stuff stolen and be unsafe in our hallways. Most recently, more bikes have been stolen, more packages missing, the dog door is constantly broken (it looks like someone just threw their body at it), someone keeps putting paper in the latch so it doesnt close properly, and blood at the entry vestibule. Shown in an attached photo are multiple packages with various names on them that have been opened and left in the bike room - seems like a weird place to open packages now doesnt it?! There are cameras everywhere but none of them work and/or the resolution is so bad that you cant tell who is doing the damage.Furthermore, the carpet in the hallways is filthy and never cleaned and is from probably the 80s. They havent renovated anything in years so it is dark and smells terribly (this can probably also be attributed to the fact that there is not a single vent fan in any of the units over the range).Do not live here. It is not safe. It is not worth the money.I love, love, love the inside of our unit and the wonderful view we have but it is not worth the absurdities happening on the way.

UPDATE: Did not renew our lease this year and moved. Though the location and price are still good, the changing of property management has lowered my initial rating of 5 stars... Frequent noise complaints and visits from the fire department and police is what led to our decision to leave. But even to the very end, our experience went downhill when we were ghosted and did not get our deposit back. New property manager Liliana even went up to our apartment with us for final inspection on our last day, was impressed with how hard we cleaned and our upkeep of the unit, promised us full deposit and refund for accidentally submitting more than what was originally owed for final months rent, and then stated it was nearing the end of office hours so she sent us on our way and said she will get back in touch with us to relay our deposit. Never heard from her again....PS Kept 2 stars for the nice, hardworking maintenance and cleaning team.______________________________________________PREVIOUS REVIEW:Great location and price! The on-site property manager, Danny, is always so professional and easy to communicate with. Tim from maintenance is friendly and gets the job done. Great amenities like a gym and small office space with printer. Street parking isnt too difficult, and if you cant find any there are nearby lots with daily fees. Located on Broadway, so you get a front row seat to the PRIDE parade in June and its only a short walk to the Lakeshore trail with an amazing view of the city skyline. Grocery stores and the red line are all nearby, with Kleins coffee shop literally next door.

I’ve lived at Times Square for ~4 years! It’s been such an easy, pleasant place to live. Having the gym and leasing office in the building has made my life so much easier; never having to rush out to the gym in the morning or worry about receiving packages. The office staff is personable, helpful, and friendly. 10/10!

To whom it may concern;I have been working in one of the retail locations in the time square building. I have seen a lot of strange characters doing strange things. Now these strange things have been reported on numerous occasions and no consequences EVER for these situations. For the last year now a new manager has been put in place by the name Danny. Danny is a great man and takes his job very seriously, since his arrival not only has the craziness gone away, but now I love buena park again. Danny is great.

The office staff is amazing. When ever I have a problem, which is rarely the management is on top of it. They are so nice and considerate, they take the time out of their day to make sure you are okay. Any management that takes time out to make sure their residents are fine is a big plus for me. I love my apartment super big, not a fan of carpet but it will do. Location is amazing, takes me about 15 minutes to get to work. Perfect location to bars, restaurants and wrigley field. Looking forward to renew my lease in a few months.

1. Great office staff. Leticia and Danny are very approachable and helpful. They even put our packages in the Parcel Pending lockers if the carriers dont do it.2. Great maintenance. Smoke alarms are checked twice a year, pest control checks are every two months. If you need any sort of repair in your apartment, it will be done ASAP. The maintenance staff is trustworthy and does real good work, even when you are not around. They are always helpful. Several times I was carrying something heavy down to the trash room and was helped by one of them without me even asking for help. Our cleaning lady Elvia is the best, always keeping the building nice and clean.3. Lots of amenities:24 hour laundry room with cards, no quarters needed.Several vending machines.Parcel PendingRecycling4. Free wi-fi and printer are available for tenants5. Save building6. Plenty of stores and restaurants in walking distance.7. Great access to public transportation8. Kleins Bakery. The place is great. Fantastic pastries, great coffee. Its a wonderful addition to our buildingI live in this building since 1993 and have to say it is now a much better place to live in then it was before TLC took over and our team of building managers is one of the best we had.

Only good thing about this apartment is that it is cheap. I got into this building 2 years back and the office management staff that time was friendly and helpful (only reason I got into this building was that I was new to the city and I need to get into apartment asap and some of my office colleague were living here). But the office staff right now are very rude and unfriendly. Only time they will talk nice to people is when they have to lure someone into signing a new lease in the apartment. My lease is ending on a weekday (Thursday) and when I asked them for a help that, can I move during the weekend, the answer I got was that I need to pay whole one month rent for staying even a single day more than my lease expiration day. So, please be mindful of the fact when you are moving here. (Mind you when I was moving from one apartment to another apartment in the same building last year, they were very accommodative in that aspect. So you can imagine there dual talk)Apartments rooms are very small, kitchen is non existent. So only reason you would like to come to this apartment is when you want to pay less and live at a location which is near to lake.I would not recommend anyone this apartment unless you are restricted with your budget.

Since April I have problems with bed bugs and they have not been able to solve anything. I am paying the rent literally for nothing because sometimes I can not even sleep in my house because of this problem. They only help me to fumigate but when the exterminator says that everything is fine, its not like that. Im truly desperate.it is inhuman that you can not end this problem or cancel my contract. It’s the worst place where I have lived in my live.I’m really disappointed of this place.

Packages are stolen, even though we have a parcel, The carriers who deliver the packages seldom put them in the parcel. People also steal your clothes out of the dryer!!! New management does not seem to care no matter how many times you complain, they sit there and take personal calls the majority of the day, and tell you that they will take care of something and to come back later. Once you go back to them to see if the problem was resolved they tell you it didn’t get done. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!

I dont understand what is happen in the building. Many rarely people come in without keys. They put cigarettes on the door to avoid that close (check the cameras at 10.20 pm July 7, lateral door). In the last weeks, are stolen bicycles and amazon paquets. In the indoor stairs homeless are doing your necessities (urine and heces) . People are talking with the manager and she doesnt do nothing. It is a danger situation. In these conditions I dont recommended the building. Also, hallway smell horrible because the carpet is too old, someone broke the glass of the lateral door, and are stealing clothes from the laundry. Talking with some neighbors, worried like me, they have the suspicion, that are selling drugs in the building and all these create these new horrible situations???? I dont know, but it is time to do something to control everything. 2 years ago when were working Helen, & Eric everything was very good, now all is a caos.

Ive lived in the building for 4 years and counting; its been a great experience. Maitenance has always addressed any issues quickly, and the staff has always been polite and accommodating; its nice to have a management office on-site. They allow you to move units during the term of your lease (for a fee, of course), or you can get priority to upgrade (or downsize) within the building at the end of your lease term.Exercise room gets the job done and is open 24/7 with key access. Packages are through Parcel Pending, which is hugely convenient; no shared package room, and you can get your package any time. Theres a set of lockers that are locked by a key-pad; the service texts/e-mails you when you have a package and gives you a code. You enter the code in the key-pad and the locker with your stuff pops open. No need to rely on staff to be present to unlock a package room, etc.Neighborhood is great; 15 min walk to the lake or Wrigley, Jewel is a couple blocks North on Montrose; quieter than Lakeview/Lincoln Park/Wrigleyville, but close enough that you can walk there if you want.

Dont live in that building. There are bed bugs everywhere! The building knew about that problem and didnt inform the residents. We lost our furniture because of that problem and the building didnt refund us.
