We have been in the same apartment for four decades - a group of senior flight crew. Recently we moved out, which was a very disappointing experience. The office NEVER RESPONDS TO EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS, and we moved out after all this time because when our lease was up, they told us to resign the lease and then theyd negotiate a rental price with us. Really?? As flight crew, we put our lives in the hands of our fellow crew members should we have an emergency on a flight. We trust each other with our lives. The office at our complex in Burlingame, CA accused a senior flight attendant who had a lease for 31 years with them of changing her lock. A pilot who had been in that apartment for 21 years took the key over to the office and explained to them that the lock had not been changed. And another crew member I know set up an appointment to look at an apartment and was stood up by the office. Not professional, dont seem to care and Id never sign a lease there again. And the rent doesnt include around $200. of water, sewer, boiler, etc charges that are monthly. I am so sorry to say that I would recommend looking elsewhere for an apartment. And READ your lease before you sign it. When you move out they nail you for painting, cleaning, etc. GO ELSEWHERE!

They gave false and misleading information to me when I moved out, which resulted in huge fees. When I contacted the office with questions, they wouldnt respond. Very unprofessional and disappointing. Do not give this unethical company your money.

My time with Equity Residential as a full-time designer for nearly 4 years has been quite an exhilarating ride. I am in awe of all that we do and the kinds of people who put their expertise to good use. It is a place where employees can feel heard and appreciated with great benefits. Where you can find your strengths and also be challenged. No two days a like. I value my time here and also the friends I have made along the way.

Modern day slumlords !!!They avoid contact with residents at all costsand apparently for a good reason as they receive a mountain of complaints regularly due to incompetent way in which they run their apartments and the incompetent managementthey put in place at their residential apartment complexes. All complaints are directed to an email which takes months to get a reply from.

Update: Adding 2 stars because the staff has really worked hard to show they care, despite the inevitable corporate slimming. //Equity recently bought my Seattle apartment building from Vulcan. In the space of three months, rents jumped 10-12% among an informal neighborhood poll (disproportionate for the 10 year old building surrounded by a slew of Amazon-employee funded brand new ones with better space and features), reduced amenities (all the nice touches that used to be around from gym services to custom maintenance jobs to support weather changes), reduced staff (UPS/FedEx packages litter the lobby because no one was around to pick them up; not the staffs fault, there just arent enough bodies) and maintenance crews who dont seem to have the building quite figured out yet. Oh, and Im required to agree to a variable rent deduction of up to 115% of my actual rent. With no notice. Im not sure if we had it that good with Vulcan but Equitys first impression so far is that theyre out to earn a good ROI for the stockholder, first and foremost. Which, I guess, is at least understandable when you buy an aging building, in South Lake Union terms. Home, however, just became less friendly or affordable. So this review should be understandable, too.

They allow huskies. (Their Glen Meadow complex at least) 3 max dogs where most apartment complexes if you look online and we assumed this followed for most complexes but this one is messed up anyway, that that breed is never allowed., for the reasons of what it does. We have done a ripoff report with pictures of police logs for harassment being added more, to the dogs yowling themselves to even footage of their dogs yowling INSIDE the apartment w/ their 4th dog. The company emails that they know the tenants downstairs have violated the lease on multiple occasions, yet theres nothing they can do but attempt to work with them. They lied to get us in, do not be the next victim of their deception. Unless you enjoy barking, yowling and police filing charges against your neighbors at every turn. WE are moving thank God into a house. Good luck to the next suckers of this place. We are also suing for what we had to pay for being lied to on top of other damages.
