Absolutely love this building - great vibes, views, location and staff, but just overall, very nice. Many great places in walking distance, spacious and clean gym, beautiful outdoor space with lake views. I highly recommend taking a look at this place if you are searching for a new home! Bill was also great and helped make us feel at home during the viewing and move in!
We lived here for 2.5 years, and I have to say it was one of the best experiences of our lives. I know that may sound a bit much, but its true.1. Staff, Staff, & Staff. I cannot stress this enough on how helpful and good the staff is here. Natalie (GM), who helped us when we had to move to another city and worked with us to help make that happen, also genuinely cares about making 500 the best building to live in the city. Crystal (Resident Advisor) always made time available to walk into her office with any questions and very detail-oriented and helpful. Most of all, despite anything, going on always smiling. The fantastic front door staff & Chief Engineer and maintenance staff, I think, is what makes this place the best place to live . Lorenzo, Vinny, Immanuel, Greg, Ed, Roman, Juan, & both Ronald. If I could, I would write a fantastic thing about each staff member and how I’m honestly grateful to meet you guys. Unfortunately, this review thing, I think, has max on how much I can write, and the only thing missing now is handing out awards like we are at the Oscars. So will STOP.2. The second thing is the amenities. Go outside and take a look at the pool and then pinch yourself to see if your dreaming. Next, ask your friends to take a look at the pool and repeat the steps. Enough Said! Then take a walk and look at the excellent amenity space.3. I saved the best for last. The friendships we have at 500 we will have for a long time, which includes the staff. You are living in one of the BEST buildings in the city. You live behind the lake, and if your lucky, you will have a view, and I’m telling you cannot beat that. Most importantly is safety; you feel safe living here.Let me end with the grand finale. So youre not reading and saying “DP,” this cant be true!!! We moved to NYC, and I looked at 18 buildings, and today Im writing you from a Related building in NYC (Abington House). We have been here for six months, and yet again, I feel the same as I did at 500. The Related product is exceptional, and I thought we got lucky in Chicago, but now history is repeating itself. Every building has its pros and cons, but to us, Related wins on all accounts. Thanks for the amazing experience - Mayor DP
We were lucky enough to live here for almost 3 years and it could not have been a more wonderful place to live. The one thing I cannot over emphasize is how truly incredible the staff here is. They go out of their way to make you apart on the 500 family and will do anything to help you out. From the front office with Natalie and Crystal, to the incredible front door staff with Vinny, Lorenzo, Immanuel, Greg, Ed. The building maintenance staff led by Roman, both Ronalds, Francisco are top notch and finally, but certainly not least is custodial staff whom are the unsung heroes of the building who kept us safe during the pandemic with their amazing leaders in Juan and Carmen! There are many other people who make this building special and the amenities will blow you away, but it truly is the people who work here that make this one of the best places to live in Chicago. If you want to have a wonderful experience living in the heart of Chicago, there is not a better place to do it!
My husband and I have called 500 North Lake Shore Drive as our home for the past nearly six years and we have loved living here. If we weren’t moving out of state, we would probably live here for another six years.500 LSD is in the heart of the city, the building is magnificent with the entire glass structure, and the views of the lake and the city are astonishing. However, even though the building itself is breathtaking, that is not why we have called this place home for so many years. It is the people who work here, that have made us feel like we are at home.Vincent, always happy to help and assist and never did I have to remind him what our apartment number was. Immanuel always asked if we won our volleyball games when we got home from the beach all sandy. Edward always smiling (and I know you are smiling behind the mask too) and taking the time to learn how to properly pronounce my name. Lorenzo, getting me an elevator without the need to ask for one and noticing even the small things where he could help when others didn’t.Roman, Chief Engineer of the building, came to my rescue after hours and hang our very heavy wooden wedding picture up on our wall, so I could surprise my husband with it when he got home. Carmen, always teaching me Spanish and asking how my family was doing. Natalie always ready to assist – no matter what the email was about – and having that open door policy to come and talk. And everyone who works in the building; Lashanda, Fernando, Ronald, Juan, Gregory, Maria, Vanesa (and I apologize if I forgot someone) always with a smile and ready to help. The people who work in this building will make your day. No matter in what mood you are in, they will brighten it up and that is why we have loved to live in this building for so long. Yes, the amenities are nice, the views spectacular… but it is the people, and we will miss you all. Thank you for our years together and we wish you all the best in the years to come. Please know that we will miss you, a lot. With love and gratitude,Jonna & Manuel
I’ve lived at 500LSD for almost 2 years. This all glass building is beautiful and ALWAYS clean. Recently, I decided I needed more space, so I inquired about 2bds. The resident specialist, Crystal, made the transition seamless. The best part of 500 LSD is the staff (literally no complaints about a single person). They are always in good spirits and super helpful; feels like family. If you’re looking for a home and not just a place to live, choose this one! The other luxury buildings in Chicago don’t compare.
We’ve lived at 500 for 2 years now and just renewed. We love the building, location, and staff. Lorenzo, Crystal, and Immanuel have all been exceptional. If you’re searching for a luxurious and exceptionally located unit, call Related.
My wife and I have lived in 500 Lake Shore for almost two years. We absolutely love the building. The apartments are well designed with modern appliances. The staff is amazing. The concierge (all of them know my name and greet me), maintenance (never wait more than 24 hrs for something to be fixed or installed), and management make our lives much easier. They have programming for the building with food trucks, pet events, and holiday gatherings for the residents. The amenities can’t be beat. Not many places can offer a pool, gym and resident area with beautiful views of the lake.
Beautiful building and facilities. Tons of amenities and unbeatable views.
Ive lived in this building for four years and I cant say enough good things about 500. The location is amazing, the building is beautiful (+ always clean), and the staff and management are what really make it feel like home. If you are looking to live in a luxury Chicago high-rise, with beautiful amenities and an awesome, welcoming front-desk team, look no further. :)
The management sucks. They will hit you up with a ton of charges when you move out. Dont move here unless you want to pay a lot of money. There are better apartments in Chicago for cheaper.
I’ve lived here for a few months and it’s a, Great building with Great responsive staff. Best placed I’ve lived in my 10 years in Chicago.
The good:- By far the best on-site gym in Chicago.- Friendly front door staff- Walking distance to Navy Pier- Other great amenities such as the pool and common area- The addition of Amazon lockers- Updated units and appliances- Very seldom do I hear neighbors above me- 4 Bus stops right outside.- Lobby doors are locked at night. Need Key to get inThe bad:- This is by far my biggest pet peeve, it is very noisy if you get a unit adjacent to Lake Shore. Makes for a major problem trying to sleep - had to purchase 2 white noise machines and even that doesnt solve the problem- The removal of Internet and cable from rent. You now have to select a provider rather than it being included in rent.- The removal of the ability to pay rent online. Now you must use the clunky app- When an item is not in an Amazon locker, it either a) sits in a public space in the mail room or b) sits with the doormen. You can also have the latter packages delivered to your unit by the doormen but dont expect delivery the day it arrives. It happens once or twice a week in my experience- Not quite near the L. Although its relative, the nearest L is the Red Line about .7 milesOverall experience:- 500 N Lake Shore is a great luxury living. However, I am critical in the sense that I enjoy a seamless user experience and this is where they fall short. The transitioning to having to submit my AT&T bill every single month for a credit on my rent as well as having to use the clunky app has driven my score down to a 4 star (would love to give a 3.5 if possible). The noise is also a huge issue for me.Please note that this is my experience and yours may differ completely. All new residents will not be required to submit their bill, your new unit my not be as noisy as mine, and you may love using the app. The building is great and the people are friendly.
Do NOT be concerned of a 4.4 rating for this place. One person in google reviews dragged the rating down because they had to wait long to a tour.. whatever dude! THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! The service is incredible, the apartments are amazing, and amenities are great. We use the Alfred service and get our counters wiped down and apartment tidied up FOR FREE every Monday. This place deserves 5 stars. Worth every penny. If youre on the fence, just live here!
I recently visited a friend in the building and everything there is lovely! Beautiful apartments and an awesome location. Well done!
Wonderful building amenities, great views and staff. The friendly and very helpful staff make this building the best place to live in the city. The amenity floor including gym, pool deck and social areas are the best in the city as well. Ive lived here for nearly three years now and no complaints.
Twice in the past week I visited this place trying to see a leasing agent. Both times I politely waited fifteen minutes, only to be told nobody is available. On each occasion I also left my card asking someone to call. I never received any contact. They dont seem to anxious for new tenants...... perhaps theyre full and hopefully your experience will be better than mine if youre interested in living here. With so many other options, its easy to seek alternatives with better service.
I cant say enough good things about this place. Ive lived here for nearly a year and have yet to experience anything negative. The apartments are nice, other residents are pleasant, and the staff is second to none. I looked at several comparable buildings before leasing at 500 and have absolutely zero regrets.
This June marked my 5-year anniversary living at 500 N Lake Shore drive and it is really hard to summarize what an amazing experience it has been. There are so many great things about the building from the views, units, amenities, lakefront and the list can go on but what truly separates it from other places and what has kept me there this long….is this people. The staff Is amazing from the people at the door, the porters, maintenance staff and management…they go above and beyond to provide the best possible experience for their residents. They pay attention to every little detail especially on the amenity floor to ensure that “Luxury Living” it way more than just a tagline used on building brochures. Over the years, I have looked at every new building in the area and I always came back to 500 N Lake shore drive because of the views, the people and they truly created an experience that can be defined as luxury. The units themselves are gorgeous and provide plenty of space but for me it was all about waking up every morning to sweeping views of the lake and city. It may cost a little more but being on a high floor with a view of the water will create an experience you will never forget. I probably have over 1000 pictures over the years of stunning sunrises/sunsets/lake phots that look like something out of a magazine. The 12th floor amenity space speaks for itself…do a tour and you will once again see the true definition of luxury living. Top notch grills, private space to host events, an amazing pool and hot tub that allows you to have a front row view of the fireworks twice a week in the summer. I used the pool deck/event space more than anyone and it is another reason why I have loved the building so much. Because of the relationship with Equinox, the gym is amazing and has plenty of space for a great workout…..also remind yourself that you can roll out of bed and be on the lakefront and Riverwalk. The neighborhood is great and has become more resident friendly with the additions or target and whole foods the last few years. The building has also done a lot the last few years to bring even more services to the building from meal delivery to car washes. If you are looking for the true definition of luxury living, this is the place for you and keep in mind that one of the best parts of the building are the people/staff. Very few times in life do high expectations get exceeded and this is one of them. I am so grateful for the staff and the experience they have provided me the last 5 years.
Great lake-view apartment! Awesome and spacious apartment. Nice gym and lobby! Professional staff as well!
Been a broker for Coldwell Brokerage for a while now and Im doing great but i was considering applying here for a broader spectrum of clients, has anyone worked here? Any advice?
Amongst the better decks and game rooms in the city.
