NICHOLAS WALLACE:We moved in to Regents Park recently. About 4 months back. Contrary to many reviews here which have negative feed back, we have faced a very good management response so far. I dont know what exactly some of the members here faced. A living place with almost 1000 tenants will have its own share of problems.I found the Resident Services, the concierge and mail room people are all doing their best to make our life better here.We had a problem with an elevator recently and we were extremely happy with the response of Mr.Nicholas Wallace in coming to our help. He was all the way with us and saw to it that the problem was solved. We owe him a big thank you. It shows his dedication to the service of the tenants.I had lived in many parts of Chicago, its not that this is the perfect place with absolutely no issues. But if you count the advantages of being here we can just ignore the small issues built into any complex of this size. Particularly take Into account the reasonable rent we pay here compared to other places. Anand Murugan S506

Dont move here. The place is constantly full of smoke. My apartment is constantly full of smoke. When I complain about the issue, I have to wait in line behind other people complaining about the same thing. I have literally spent days worth of time talking about the issue to staff and the front desk, and nothing has changed. Months and Months of trying to fix the issue, and nothing has happened. It is the worse place I have ever lived.Dont move here.

A friend is trying to sublet her room to me. Sent a lot of emails and made a few phone calls but most of them were ignored. A month after the initial contact and no delay from my end, I still cannot receive the sublease agreement for me to sign on. Just now I called the property, the woman on the phone is impatient and rude. She told me I should always make contact through email. I just don t understand... Why there isnt anyone who can take charge of this? I suspect the staff would only help when there is a benefit for them!! Subleasing does not make profit for them.

Ruth Hamilton has been absolutely wonderful and a blessing to my family. With the help of Ruth, my family will now have time to move into our newly renovated home. We just needed additional time. If it was not for God and the kindness and flexibility of Ruth, we would have no place to go and live until our place is ready. Our new home has a room just for my mother as well. This means more than words. My wife and I were so grateful to God for Ruth, we were both in tears at the good news. In my opinion, Ruth deserves 10 Stars. I had a few incidents with my apartment that left me disappointed. Thats when Ruth stepped in and made the world of difference. From the first moment I spoke with her, she took action. Ive never come across a more caring person. It mattered to her that I was uncomfortable and not satisfied with my surroundings. Since interacting with Ruth, my entire quality of life has changed for the better. She not only provided exceptional service, but empathy and care unusual in most people and businesses these days. Thank you Ruth. You deserve more than 5 stars, but if thats the best there is to offer, youre definitely welcome to it!

They claim being a ‘smoke-free’ community, yet the units and all the place (elevators, common areas, parking lot) have a very disgusting smell to marihuana. It’s unbearable. People smoking in the building are supposed to be evicted, yet security is very lax regarding this issue. We’ve been living here for several years and the building has been fantastic. It saddens how this place has decreased its quality of life standards in the last years.

Resident Services office/Management is terrible to work with, Unprofessional, Fake, and snobby attitude. Slum landlord mentality. Hallways smell like weed or the trash chute room. Best thing about building is common areas and they are content with keeping it that way. No additional security in garage since terrible event that happened on news. Pool is still closed but I’m sure they will open with no masks. Still have people walking around without masks in hallways. Do yourself a favor and spend your rent money with any other company than Mac Property. Anyone who lives here will tell you the same. Buildings gone down the drain. Entire maintenance is great, only reason for 1 star.

There is everything you could ask for in a home - its truly been a joy to live here. This review is specifically regarding a member of the amazing maintenance team - Thomas - he is truly outstanding. He was very prompt and dedicated and did a superb job with my request -- truly amazing. The workmanship was excellent and he did it with such a positive and peaceful attitude. He seriously went above and beyond what I could have asked or imagined with the job and Im so pleased with the work. I thank God for the assistance I was given, and I am truly blessed to live in such a beautiful home with such genuine, kind, and compassionate people. This is an awesome apartment to consider for anyone planning to live in the area and I highly recommend it. Unpredictable & periodic cockroaches in the tub and in kitchen. Stairwells always smell like weed, cigarettes, or trash. Don’t be tricked by the aesthetics of the common areas or website. Going on year 4 of living here. This will be my final one. My fellow colleagues and I are moving. The office treats me like I’m the problem when I’m pointing out reasonable my concerns about my place. I pay two thousand in rent, I should not be the one having to call repeatedly for them to do stuff or quickly address my concerns. Never been treated this way by any Residence office in any building I’ve lived in! From the looks of reviews, I’m not the only one. Live somewhere else. They will act nice at first and proceed to do nothing to fix problems. Thank me later.

Current GradStudent here and lived in building for a several years. New management only communicates when it benefits them. Sends mass emails about random things like it being cold outside or returning laundry carts but nothing about helping us feel safer. Month or so after “tragedy” in garage and still no communication and no change to increase safety. Pretending as if nothing ever happened...Still unmasked people in corridors. Hassle to get desk to buzz me in and I actually live here but see random people walk through all time without being stopped. Office doesnt treat all residents equally or fairly, treat some of my neighbors/friends of different backgrounds either better or worse. Bring back old people in resident office, please. They actually gave a care about this place, or pretended to. Will not resign and my friends will not either.

I lived here for 1.5 years. I was very unhappy with the cockroaches, and the internet is unstable as well (from time to time the whole south buildings internet will be out for an hour). The unit I lived in had disconnections even more often because of some infrastructure problem. There is barely any coverage for AT&T in my apartment as well, awful for wfh. Despite the perks (conscientious and most-of-the-time friendly staff, fast maintenance, and free utilities), I would not have signed the lease having had the information.

Giving two stars, rather than one, because the maintenance team responds to service requests quickly. The management team is hard to work with. Had an injury in the apartment because the closet’s wooden sliding door in the hallway fell on my right foot (mind you, this is a solid wooden door that’s as high as ceiling, and it’s heavy). Had a fracture that took me about 4-5 weeks to start walking but not completely healed yet as of writing. Filed a service request and was requested to submit a medical bill. They claimed that the injury was an allegation. Ghosted me after I submitted the medical bill. I didn’t have the emotional energy to keep following up so I stopped contacting them. They were not even willing to give parking spot in the building as compensation when I couldn’t walk far to the car to get groceries. Says there’s no “concession” 🙄. No empathy and no efficiency. Apartment is expensive. Give your money to some other management properties that cares about tenants. So disappointed.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The public spaces, fitness center and pool and very well maintained. The convenience store in the building is convenient if you dont want to go out in the cold. Parking garage has low headroom for SUV garage door lifts, but otherwise feels safe to drive into and walk from the vehicle into the lobby. Three out of 4 elevators are usually working in the South Tower and can cause for long waits for accessing the residence floors. I dread the laundry room as to the cleanliness of the washing machines, with excess soaps, residents hair and could use a regular staff person to maintain the laundry room for 24 hours a day. It can be a toss up as to what machines will or wont be working or residents leaving their clothing in the machines past their finish time. The building is generally very quiet, which I appreciate.

As a resident of Regents Park for the past 4 months, I’m really starting to think that a lot of these reviews are competitors attempting to spread fake news.In my experience, the staff is great. They’re not perfect, but any issue I’ve had has been resolved within the day. I have a view of the lake, access to a pool, gym and rooftop garden. The building feels safe and my apartment is quiet.Rent is a little (but not excessively) expensive. When you consider all that is included, the value is great compared to other secure buildings on the lake. I’d spend hundreds more in a similar building from the south loop going north. The worst part is the elevators, but management is aware and working on it. I also don’t feel like the elevator situation is different than any other high rise experience.I’d recommend this building to others. Almost didn’t move here when reading the reviews below—glad I did though!

Things are definitely improving. When I moved in there were constant issues with the elevators, very rude front door staff, and lack of communication regarding repairs (emails were ignored until issues were addressed. Not the best way to handle concerns). There has been a push to improve common spaces and amenities available and there’s been an attitude adjustment that makes it much easier to put up with issues that arise. Repairmen are always professional and on time. Office staff is much better at responding to emails. Review went from one star to three stars. Will re-evaluate in 6 months.

The elevators are always broken and if they aren’t pet urine is on the floor. They only have one maintenance person who is elderly to clean both towers. They have over populated the building with section 8 tenants some of which hang out and smoke marijuana in the stairwells causing the entire floor to smell. When you submit a maintenance request it takes them weeks or even months to get the task completed. The amenities the building has pool, cleaners, lounge, party room, and coming soon a grocery store seem nice but if I’m already paying over $2k for a two bedroom apartment the management team need to step up with the cleanliness and security needed for the safety of the tenants in the building. Thank you!

Elevators! Elevators! Elevators!! I just renewed my lease for another year due to my job, but this is my final year in this building and I pray it goes by quickly. While most of the staff is very nice, that doesnt do much to appease the residents like me who are paying an arm and a leg to live in this building. The biggest issue is definitely the elevators. It has taken me upwards of 45 minutes to get upstairs to my unit. Ive been late to work and my children have been late to school, as it has taken that same amount of time to get downstairs. Weve been stuck in the elevators and apparently building management thinks making the laundry facilities free now, makes up for that. Unfortunately, you cant put a band-aid on a bullet wound. While the resident services team is always very pleasant, there isnt much they can do aside from placating residents as best as they are taught to. The equipment in the gym works when it wants to. None of the computers in the computer lab actually work, and they charge a fee to print. The grocery store, has been closed and under construction for an entire year and now to add insult to injury, my rent was just increased, which is insane because what exactly am I paying for??? I absolutely love my view, but thats about the only thing. We cannot wait until this lease is up and I would definitely not recommend anyone to live here, unfortunately. There are so many other properties to consider in Chicago where you can get more bang for your buck, so to speak. With my work, I just dont have the time to dedicate to moving, so were stuck for another year here (for those asking why we didnt just move).

I stayed in Regents Park for 6 months throughout the summer of 2018. It was great. Despite the young people who I saw there, no matter what color, I only saw one act of vandalism or behavior and that was from an asian college student! I once complained about dogs and the office staff took care of the problem. If youre going to have a dog, expect to live by the rules. No one really likes your dog as you do and if it barks, MOVE TO THE COUNTRY, not here. I dont care for dogs, so I gave this review 4 stars because they should discourage tenants from having them unless you have a real mental issue. Otherwise, the staff people were always professional and friendly. You have to pick your time to use an elevator because students have a rush hour to classes just like cars. There are over 2,000 people living here so dont get to excited if you see types you may not like. The walk to the Lake Michigan is made for this place. The staff has a rule that you cant have pool parties and this makes sense. The pool is relatively clean. I know. I lost 2 inches around my waist swimming in it. The exercise room is nice too. Walking to downtown Hyde Park is very convenient, the city transportation system is exceptional and the Lake front area is unbeatable. If you are retired and dont want to own, this place is for you.

Elevators: there is usually one that is broken but it is hardly ever more than a minor inconvenience. I have never been more than slightly irritated. And I live on the 29th floor.AC/Heating: centralized, which can be annoying during winter because it gets really hot. I actually just leave it off and ventilation keeps the apartment cozy for me.Gym: not too much to speak of, but its there! Its roomy compared to other places and has a fair amount of equipment.Commute to downtown: 30 to 40 minutes. There is a bus stop right outside which is awesome! And it is surprisingly quick. Probably because there is less traffic from the south and most of it is on the highway.Concierge calls you whenever there is a food delivery and packages are held for you up front. Nice!No garbage disposal and my dishwasher is kind of old, which will lead to somewhat unclean dishes.I have never had filed a noise complaint, and the single bedroom is VERY spacious!Furniture is new and maintenance is pretty responsive.EDIT: I am updating my review because of how they handled a parking issue. Previously Regents park had hourly parking and one day I could not leave the parking lot because the gate machine would not accept my ticket. Regents Park had offered 1 day free parking to pay for inconvenience of not being able TO LEAVE and the surplus charge. Regents Park retracted said offer because their policy changed and I am very furious, that was a horribly inconvenient experience and they are doing nothing on my behalf.

I really dont understand all the hate for this place. I have lived here for over 2 years now and I can say, without a doubt, it is the best apartment complex I have ever lived in. The rent price is a little bit high compared to the rest of Hyde Park, yes, but the amenities make up for it. In Regents, you have access to a nice indoor swimming pool and hot tub, a decent gym, a valet service that manages any deliveries you order online, and a dry cleaning service. There is a convenience store in the basement that is great in a pinch and actually sells reasonably priced beer. You also have access to central air conditioning, which is key in a hot Chicago summer. The most important thing for me, however, is how quiet the apartments are. Despite being surrounded by neighbors, I very rarely hear anything through the walls. We also have a beautiful view of the lake, and we arent even on a particularly high floor. The one thing that does suck about this place is the Internet - you are forced to use American Wide Broadband, which caps at a glacial 15 mb/s speed (this is why I gave them a 4 instead of a 5).Despite Macs bad rep, I have had nothing but positive experiences with management and utilities. I have had the few utility calls I have made in the last few years addressed in under 24 hours, with faster service in instances that warranted it. All of the employees I have interacted with have always been friendly and informative, and I have never had a negative interaction.I highly recommend Regents to anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable place to live. It may cost a bit extra compared to other places in Hyde Park (especially because of the new Whole Foods nearby), but it is well worth it.

I could write a huge list of faults, but the reviews speak for themselves and I can endorse every one of those complaints. The rent is super high, and I have no idea why! The amenities are garbage. Each time a leasing agent is showing a potential tenant the building, I have to tell them the truth. DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. The only people I truly admire here are the maintenance staff, everyone else has been pretty incompetent. Also, if you already live in the Hyde Park area, and you hear a bunch of sirens, be sure to know they are headed our way to Regents Park. Either someone was stuck in the elevator for the 5th or 6th time that week, or their arm or hand has been caught by the elevator door. This place is too expensive for the price, and the staff is extremely rude. For a one-bedroom apartment, its is already over $1.5k with terrible service and additional costs that are insane. They charged $100 for opening my apartment door after I got locked out. The maintenance personnel told me to either pay up $100 or sleep outside. The maintenance guy also would not give me his full name, nor let me keep a copy of the report. He said if I kept asking, he would leave and I could sleep outside. They charged $100 to replace my parking access card, which typically costs $15 at UChicago.Their built-in internet is also extremely slow, and the apartment’s only internet provider (AWB) does not even have a high-speed internet plan to upgrade. The elevators are always broken. Even though there are 4 potential elavators, most of the time only 1 of them work, and if it does, it is very slow since there are 30 floors worth of people sharing just one elevator. They charge $200/month for parking, but the parking lot is in terrible condition. We had nails puncture our car tires twice in just 6 months due to construction work in the parking lot, and the construction work not being cleaned up. I had to pay to replace each of these tires. They should clean the parking lot to make sure there are no nails on the floor. Also, the entire building constantly smells like marijuana.Overall, this is the worst apartment I have ever lived, and I highly recommend not living here.

If I could give this place a 0 star I would. We live on the 30th floor and I would say the average time to get to the ground floor or up here is 10 minutes, depending on how many elevators are broken at a given time. We have had the same window pop out of its frame leaving us unable to shut it out while freezing winds blow off lake Michigan and right into our apartment, all while maintenance takes multiple days to address the problem. There are a few good eggs who really care about the people who live here, but upper management is out of touch and doesnt listen to the problems people have. The tipping point for us was when we were scheduled for 2 months to move out this weekend. The freight elevator proceeded to break, leaving us no way to get our things out of the apartment. Management gave no warning that this had happened and I only found out the night before from one of the employees I came to know pretty well over the last year Ive lived here. They said it MIGHT be fixed by what is now 3 days later, while having no one work on it the entire weekend and my girlfriend and I missing multiple days of work to attempt to move. Avoid this place at any cost, the rent is exorbitant compared to the service you should be getting from a luxury apartment.

Also there is no security measure in the building, no cameras in hallways on my floor and so on.I cannot wait the end day of my lease**************************************I will give 0 star if I could. I have the privilege of living in some of the REAL luxury apartments in my life and this is definitely not one of them. Here are the reasons why.Elevator: I live above 30 floor, and I would expect 10min just to get to the ground level. Elevators are constantly on breakdown, it is normal to have only 2 slow elevators serving all residents on all 37 floors. Even though they are trying to renew the elevators, they are constantly being deceptive about the progress. They would send emails saying 11-3pm elevators would be down, but if you decide to go out on 5pm dont be surprised to see broken elevators. They also claim the first updated elevator would be up and running by Sep 21st, well guess what, now is October 3rd, they are still working on it and not sending us any updates on the repair works. Additionally, in any REAL LUXURY apartments I have lived in, staff always use the freight elevator, but not here apparently, they share the busy elevators even during rush hours (Expect 20min to get to ground level if you live above 30th floor).AC: The whole building needs to be on either heating or cooling, and they are not willing to switch between the two back and forth. We know the previous few days have been really cold, yet still they refuse to switch to heating claiming this week the weather is going to be hot. I live on South tower facing Sun, yet I wake up every morning due to coldness. Cant you spend more money and switch to heating Monday and switch back to cooling on Sunday? Fun story: they sent us emails with title The heat is on, and the other day they sent another email basically saying ignore the previous email, I know it is cold but bear with it.Marijuana: You can smell Marijuana coming from your bathroom vent, windows to a point I have to close the bathroom door and windows.Noise: I always feel there is a tank in my bedroom whenever my neighbor turns on AC, it seems that at least one motor is connected to or fixed on the other side of my bedroom wall. When you just want to rest up, you sometimes cant due to the loud motor noise, and I do have to spend a few nights sleeping in living room due the noise in bedroom. Conclusion: Live elsewhere, even if it means spending more, otherwise you will remember this place for the rest of your life, and the memory will not be a pleasant one.

Living in Regents Park (especially South Tower) has been an absolute nightmare. Upon living here, elevators have been a constant problem, despite their remodernization project. There will be days when only 1 or 2 elevators work, and the lobby piles up with people shoving to get on one (they put benches in the lobby area as though that would fix the issue). There have been days where I have decided to just take the stairs DESPITE LIVING ON THE 30th FLOOR, and of course I was already running late from waiting and didnt have time to change shoes, so did all 30 floors in heels, wreaking havoc on my body. My boyfriend got trapped by himself in an elevator for 15 minutes, because it stopped working. I was trapped in an elevator with 9 other people and 1 dog for 45 minutes. My boyfriend desperately had to go to the bathroom when he was stuck, which was dangerous for his health, and I was late to work due to my experience. I went to the office and they said since they are fixing the problem, they arent responsible for inconveniences. Last I checked, not being able to make money isnt an inconvenience, its a detriment to my economic standing. The elevator problems just dont stop either. I was supposed to move out yesterday (after already having paid an extra $110 to extend the lease 2 days to move on a weekend to have friends help) and the freight elevator is broken. Luckily my boyfriend is friends with a concierge and found out Friday night, so we were prepared to cancel our friends and our U-Haul on Saturday. The office sent NO notice of the closure, despite our having reserved the freight elevator 3 weeks in advance. If we hadnt known, our friends would have arrived and we would have gotten a U-Haul all before the office opened, just to find out we wasted $100 and our friends time. Instead we have just wasted our own time. The office basically said whoops to not telling us about the cancellation and told us all they could do was let us stay in the apartment without extra charge until we could move our own stuff out. So not only did my boyfriend take off work Saturday to move, we now both have to take off work Monday to go and discuss this with the office further. If they do not pay for moving crews for us, we will be forced to stay here until next weekend when our friends can hopefully donate their time to us again. Theyve told us this whole experience is an inconvenience they are sorry for. Last I checked, being unable to move out and wasting money and time is more than an inconvenience.Other issues with this building:Over Memorial Day weekend, the power in the South Tower went out for over 48 hours. I was very lucky to have a friend nearby who had a couch I could stay on and my boyfriend was out of town. If I hadnt, I wouldnt have been able to charge my electronics for classes (Im a student), do my homework (as there would be no internet), or eat. Their compensation for the $100s of groceries we lost and the inability to live in our apartment was $100 TOTAL off of rent for the next month. When using the very nice pool, on multiple occasions there were families having parties of upwards of 20 other people who were disruptive to the area. The laundry room is regularly dirty and machines are frequently broken. The communication here is terrible between the management and tenants. We were initially told elevator renovations would start in June, and they began I believe in late July or early August (if that). We were also told in the fall that our windows would be washed, so to keep shutters closed for privacy. The windows have STILL not been cleaned and it is now February. We had to get a new fridge, as the one we originally had was old and had continual ice buildup that led to the freezer leaking water into the refrigerator (and spoiling many of our vegetables). We got a new fridge quickly, and then had the misfortune of discovering that the new one came with a cockroach that then took up residence under our oven.DO NOT MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH.

Regents park is marketed as a luxury building. Im a young professional who lived in multiple cities and can safely say this place is far from luxury. Its two perks are the location near public transportation in a safe part or Hyde Park and the 24/7 doorman. First big issue is with package delivery, just a couple of weeks ago the package room gave my valuable package to another resident. When I talked to them the people in the package room were rude and wouldnt even look for it. Finally management confirmed the other resident was given the package by the same people who tried to say they never received it. Today my package was lost four hours after its delivery. Other buildings in the area have safe boxes for their packages and Ill have to start using my friends address as I dont trust Regents Park package room. Other issues include: terrible internet. I cant do work from home most nights and I barely can watch something off Netflix. The hallway and elevators regularly smell like marijuana. The elevators take upwards of ten minutes in the morning to come to your floor and theyre usually packed. The elevator renovation project has been underway for a year and not a single new elevator was installed. The interiors of the apartment have cheap finishing and the cubpoards fall apart easily. The fitness center is reasonable. The pool is often crowded with private parties happening there regularly. The roof top garden is nice in the summer. My general impression is mac apartments is trying to sell this place to new comers with the fitness center and the pool but really the basic everyday life facilities are not worth the high rent prices.

Just recently moved here, and cant wait to MOVE OUT. Ive had to buy 3 differnt tv all over $800 just to find one thats compatible with this terrible coax cable that they offer . Now that i found a tv thats compatible i only get some of the channels, now i cant even watch the news, ch 9 and about 10 other channels cant be found. Its mind boggling that i cant watch basic networks 2 5 7 and 9.Cant get no type of cable besides what they offer ABW/AWB. Amenity fees are a complete rip off! We pay for the amenities but 90% of the time half of the amenities are non functioning: hot tub, swimming pool, horizon lounge, GROCERY STORE, treadmills in fitness center are all things thats have been broken, being repaired or inoperable. Of course without notice. Save yourself the embarrassment and check before you decided to use the stuff. Ive reached out about it via phone or walking in office and all i get is maintenance is working on it. I understand this is the real world and things need repairs, but feel like we the tenants should be valued enough to at least be given notice. Overall im very dissatisfied with my living situation here and cant wait to move as much as i hate moving. The sink in kitchen stops up and so does bathroom sink. Maintenance man came to unstop kitchen sink and insinuated that i stopped the sink up because he saw i ate spinach the night before. No sir this sink been stooped up since i been here i just decided to call yall after plunger didnt work. Fyi Ive only been here a lil over 30 days and seem like a lifetime to go. Also mac has me under 2 lease agreements when ive only lived here. But only certain customer service reps see the 2 leases. When i try to get it resolved here at regnets they always say idk what they see, you only have 1 lease. Confusing eh? Totally disappointed.

The management staffs and leasing agents are horrible. I have been here for 4 years and I cannot wait to graduate next year and move out. They figured out all ways to charge you and eat their own words. If they forget some of your fees they will happily send you penalties later because the fact not charging you correctly was your own fault in their thinking.Fighting back for your own right is useless. The staff here has high turnover ratio as some people disappear after a few months leaving or being fired. Help your friends do not refer them here. When I still had hope with the management I have referred some people to the building, however either I never receive my referral bonus or I need to fight it like crazy - they have all means to deny it if you dont have writing records showing the referrals.

I rated one star only because of the management. Everything else is very good, the location, the view, the convenience it provides. But the people at the management level are so terrible! They dont think about their old residents, all they care about is how to make it more luxury, attract more people and raise the rent.

I set-up an appointment to review another unit upon the renewal time of my lease and the agent never showed up and there was no one else in the office as they decided to close early without notification. Office closes at 8pm but no one was there at 7pm when I arrived for my 715 appointment. Very unclear as to what the administrative fees are for and no one there seems to know.

Let me start by saying we moved to Regents because we heard that it was the best place to live at in HP. Unfortunately we moved in towards the end of its great lifecycle. A couple of years after we moved in the building was bought by Resident Evil of Hyde Park: MAC properties. Everything that made the Regents special before in the past was taken away. What made it special? The staff treated residents like family and went out of their way to help and assist. Of course being as terrible as MAC is as soon as they bought the building they broke a contract and fired everyone who was working there. The Union Teamsters were protesting outside the Regents back in 2011 when it happened. I believe it was 2011 but could be wrong. Then MAC tried to intimidate residents to not confront the protesters who they grew to love over the years. The new people who they brought in to management was awful. Arrogant, nasty, disrespectful and unprofessional just like the organization they represent and from the reviews of the present it seems that nothing has changed with MAC.To be honest once that MAC bought the Regents we couldnt feel anything bad happening but very bad things executed by MAC were soon to come.My mom watches babies and she always has. So one day one of her clients left her stroller out in the hallway. We already told management that it is only temporary because we didnt want to bring a wet stroller into the apartment and ruin the carpet. It was winter then. So the stroller came up missing. We talked to management and asked them if they could check the security cameras in the elevator to see if they could find out who stole the stroller. Now mind you the stroller was quite expensive as well. They tell us that they dont have access to the video cameras and cannot watch back the footage. Well then who can? Whats the purpose of having security cameras if you cant use them? We believe that management threw the stroller away. They warned us a a couple of times that we couldnt leave the stroller out in the hallway due to fire hazards and we understood that but just left it out for a bit to dry off. They basically did nothing else for us and cared less about the stroller. The worst hit though came Jan of 2015 when MAC properties gave us a completely out of the blue 5 day notice to move out. We were shocked and didnt know what was happening. They then claimed they sent out an email in Oct of 2014, which I searched for by the way and never found probably because it was never sent, that claimed that they decided to not renew our lease. We of course contacted Tenants rights and realized they just employed scare tactics to try to get us out of the building as soon as possible and what they were doing was illegal as a note must be written to employ such a message and that an email even if sent wasnt the way that you would communicate with a tenant for such matters. Also they needed to give a reasonable amount of time for us to find a new place not 5 days! We were excellent tenants mind you. Of course they were not obligated to state the reason why. The move out was awful as well since the service elevator was in terrible shape and was not working properly so a move out that would have taken normally a few hours took 7-8 hours and caused the movers to be late moving into the new place because they had specific move in times and so they had to keep everything we had in a parking lot overnight while we slept in a vacant apartment at Regents. When we scheduled the service elevator they also had no record of that so there was delays there as well. When we told them what had happened they said they were having issues with the elevator but there is nothing they could reimburse us on. Mind you we were paying the movers by the hour so we payed much more than we should have because of MAC properties negligence. So of course their terrible ways forced us to look for another place to live, they probably did us a huge favor though as dealing with MAC properties really is a nightmare.

Mac properties is just one big scam. Truly terrible management. Their portal to pay rent often messes up and when due to that, your rent payment is delayed they impose a late fee and threaten to increase that fee if you dont pay it and attempt to dispute it. Their management is extremely rude, uncooperative, unresponsive and try to entrap you into paying more than you are legally obliged to pay. The electricity went off for hours and hours on end over 48 hours and the management sent false emails about the time it would be back on, thus further inconveniencing residents. Terrible place to live for a student - this happened right before exams and there was simply no accountability.

And if there were negative star options I would give them negative 5 starts! The management team are horrible. They have no idea what they should do. What they think about is billing their tenants for every possible reason, even it is their own fault. One of the women in the management office usually eats her own words. She forgot what she said even after a couple of days. The most ridiculous thing is that she once said oppositely about the same thing.Dont ever consider this place unless they change their management team to a group of people that are responsible enough.

The management office is terrible. Dont let them cheat your money... They tried to charge me $78 for whats readily available for $40... (That is almost a doubling of the price, THANK YOU!)My boyfriend came to visit and I went to the management office to purchase a weekend parking permit. He was coming late Friday night and planned to leave early Sunday morning. I was told I need to purchase 3 days of parking permit, because each day’s permit is only good until midnight. They sold the permit at $26.00 per day. It would cost us $78 to park from Friday night to Sunday morning. When we checked the hourly rate at Regent’s garage, it was $26 for 24 hours. We were further told that if we purchase 5 24-hour stickers, we could get that for $20 each. It will only cost us $40 to park for the same period of time.I was furious and confronted the management office. The lady there was extremely arrogant and told me that’s the rule “You come in at 11pm, you still have to pay for the extra day, a rule is a rule.” When I asked about the hourly rate being cheaper than the rate offered to the tenants, she shrugged “I don’t care. Go to them next time”

If I could give many negative star, I would give as many as possible. I am a professor in U Chicago and I lived in Regents park 5 years ago when I just moved to Chicago. I have a common last name. Five years after I moved out, I received a collection report with my birth date and my SSN but it was for a charge not even under my name. Just a similar first name and a same last name. They dont understand how common my last name was, and told me to contact collection department and contact others, not them. The dispute is still ongoing and you wont understand how much time I wasted on this and it ruined my perfect credit score (from a median of 790 to currently a 630) for a charge of $200 under a different name. They would not help to resolve the issue. Instead, they told me that they dont even have record of me living there. If they think I have never lived there, why would you charge me for missing bills! If you are with a unique one-of-a-kind last name, then try your luck there. The room is old and the service is aweful, despite the expensive rent. If you do have a last name that potentially others may have too, be aware that on the day you pass them your SSN, they will use it some day to charge you collection for someone who do not pay their bills and you are always a backup!

Additionally, in the 2 years that I was there, they increased the price of the laundry facilities and decreased the size of the gym (claiming it was an upgrade). If you have a choice STAY IN GRADUATE STUDENT HOUSING INSTEAD, it is more affordable and just as well equipped.

So here in is a huge problem, and it has to be a problem if I am writing on my Sisters behalf. So my Sister is a student at Jackson Hospital, and found this place with a roommate. In my opinion I thought that $1641.00 a month for rent + $210.00 a month for parking was a but steep, but hey all for education sake. WELL HERE IS THE PROBLEM, my sister who lives on the 7th floor of the south tower has been SUFFERING from a neighbor who lives in way less than standard conditions. You know its a bad situation when the stench on one apartment comes through the vents of another apartment. Being very diplomatic, both she and I appreciated the fact that the maintenance worker Rocco came and tried to seal up certain places, however to no avail, and after we found out that the resident (Who has been a resident for over 40 years) has had multiple complaints from other tenants about his cleanliness, still hasnt been forced to clean up that made things more difficult. Kenny whom I believe is the maintenance director even said You guys might have to move. So after my sister continued to suffer, we reached out to the South Tower building Manager RYAN LAFFEY, well after being talked to by him like dumb little children with a smooth we are looking into it he tried to tell us that even though this situation is not the fault of my sister, that in order to change units, she would be charged over $800.00 WHAT!!!!! we have now sought out the Chicago Tenants and Landlords organization, who has directed us to an attorney. To add insult to injury, when we asked the leasing person Elizabeth were there any other units available, we were told no....So we had a friend call as a perspective residents, and they were offered all kinds of different apartment options. Horrible just HORRIBLE!!!! Horrible ethics, Horrible staff, Horrible lies. We will be taking further action, because right is Right. My sister loves the place, and wouldnt mind staying there, just in another unit with penalty for something that is not her fault is all we ask.

They did not tell me that they have to block one of my window for they own purpose and considering that it is the one of my only two working windows to get some fresh air. Thank you Regents Park, now I have only one window! They also never tell me that they decide to do a year long construction on my floor. I am a student and I stayed home most of the time. The loud noise is KILLING me !!!!! I cant rest. I cant study and I cant hear my phone rings a lot of times or people on the other side cant hear me talking!!!! HOW BAD!!!! And the rent isnt cheap at all! I try to talk to the resident relations, you know what they told me? They told me that they cant help me or I can work in the public area. How funny! If I can work in the public then why do I pay so much for a private place in your building?

This place could be ok if the management were not awful and everything didnt break. The freight elevator always breaks. I have literally been stuck in it. I fear for my life on moving out (surely the apartment building that daily crushes my soul will not let my physical self, or my furniture, out easily). The regular elevators are also often broken. Even when they are allegedly working, they are incredibly slow. Your morning and evening rush hour commute will likely be complicated by waiting several minutes just to take an elevator up and down the building. The gym equipment, especially the treadmills, breaks, and the remodeled gym is far inferior to the one that preceded it -- fewer and worse weights and machines.Internet service depends on a sysphian choice between two awful options -- cosmically slow ATT service, or always-unreliable American Wireless Broadband. Never in my year of living here did I have a single day of uninterrupted 15 mbps-speed service like I was supposed to. Regents, of course, blames the internet providers and says to call them, but when they fail to get anything fixed (blaming the crappy wiring in this terrible building), Regents of course doesnt do anything about it or try to bring in a better internet provider. The pool is unhygenic. The laundry room depends on internet-connected credit card readers, and somehow these break, often mid-laundry day (taking your sopping wet clothes out of the washer and then realizing that 0 of 20 dryers are working is a sad experience let me tell you). The people who run the building are by far, however, its worst feature. I am told this place used to be nice to live in 10 years ago. But the team MAC Property put in here is chronically unhelpful and unapologetic. Ex: Manager Person: oh the dryers are broken? Yeah we know were working on it. Sad, Broken Tenant: so why did you not put a sign saying not to use the washers, lest you have wet clothes for days afterwards? Manager: Oh, sorry. Well do that right away. Four hours later: dryers broken, still no warning sign, and several more benighted tenants who could have been warned carrying their wet laundry upstairs with lost, deadened looks in their eyes. The latest indignity is that four days before my glorious liberation from this hellish tenement, my little gray plastic key fob (necessary to pass through the extremely slow and often also broken revolving door at the front of the building) broke off of my key ring. It had been pretty worn for awhile, so I guess I should have gotten a new one earlier. But I didnt do so because I assumed the drones downstairs would charge some outrageous fee for a new one. I was correct: a very fake-apologetic (I am sorry you feel that way rather than I am sorry we are terrible) manager, Ranika Hawkins, explained that there is a $50 replacement fee for a piece of plastic it probably costs $1 to manufacture. Oh, and wed be happy to get it to you next week, but not before then as their system is, of course, broken. So since I am moving out in a few days, I will be charged $50 for a key fob I will never actually get to use.Note that you will never get the chance to charge them for all the various indignities you will suffer living in what could be but is not a nice building. Some people here say oh but the views are nice and the location is convenient. Dont fall for it. There are many apartments with nice views and convenient locations), but there are few with so singularly despicable management and unreliable facilities as Regents Park.Note also that all the positive reviews listed here are years old. The newer ones are all negative. This place is getting worse, not better, over time. Do not live here.
