Mac Properties management is very rude an unprofessional . Theres a new criteria to qualify for rental and its almost like there renting the apartment to you. They look down on tenants that have a voucher. There tone with how they speak to you is like your underbeneathe them... I would Not recommend renting from Mac propertyMy apartment was filthy when I move inThe stove was dirty microwave dirty behind the fridge dirty dirty under the dishwasher the window needed fixing and and as a result of that it failed inspection. Im sorry 😞 I moved in, never again . I need to hurry up and get moved out of there apartment!

Don’t be fooled by the five star reviews. You don’t know who they are. Big company have tricks to get good reviews! Please please read the 1-star reviews and NEVER lease with them!I rent a studio in Ellis Court under Mac Properties and my lease began this month. However, lots of unpleasure in the first two weeks confirmed me that their apartments are uninhabitable, and I decide to move out. Here are what they did:(1) I requested them to repair the loose and deformed screen windows. Two days ago they claimed the windows were fixed but they actually werent. Now 7 days have passed since I submitted the request but the windows are still not fixed.(2) I believe their maintenance team stole my items or they did not lock my door and let thief came in, I lost one hair dryer, one kite, 4 cups, one strainer and one plastic bag. Ridiculously, these items only worth ~$40 so I decided not to call the police. Maybe I should have. Now they keep denying it, saying there is no solid proof. Also, they claimed their maintenance team came on Monday but only after 3 days passed, on Thursday did I receive an email saying maintenance were completed. (and yes the windows were actually not fixed)(3) The customer service is unprofessional. All emails are sent from different staff members and got me crazy. Explaining the same thing to different people wasted lots of my working time.

I toured 2 properties with Jasper a few weeks ago. I ultimately opted to go with a different company due to circumstances out of his/Mac’s control (move-in dates), but I was very impressed with Jasper and, by extension, Mac Properties. Jasper went far above and beyond his job duties to show off the properties thoroughly and was very knowledgeable and personable. I could tell he works very hard and is a huge asset to Mac.

I love where I stay just really miss Chandra Lee being here. The entire staff has switched but not seeing her here just makes this place less home for me. Its people like her who has kept me here for almost 3 years.

Jennifer was quick to respond to any questions that I had when trying to find an apartment virtually. She was very knowledgeable about the area and the available properties which was greatly appreciated because I could not tour apartments in person.

RENTERS BEWARE!!! Although I only lived in my apartment for two years(2019-2021) I’ve had COUNTLESS issues with resident services. While SOME of them can be nice, NONE OF THEM ARE ON THE SAME PAGE. They are not a cohesive unit. I literally had to start recording the conversations on my own because one person says one thing, another person says another thing and you, the resident, is left with the short end of the stick. Keep an eye out on you ledger because if you don’t fee’s pop up out the blue. While they’ll eventually get removed, you’ll have to do some hoop jumping first. After I moved out they’re trying to upcharge me by $85 for wall damage when they sent out an email 3 times stating the wall damage was $5 each. I had 3 spots which would’ve totaled $15. (I didn’t wet the stick on things causing damage to the wall, I take full accountability but you can’t just up and change the prices out the blue. Last email I received was on 5/26, 5 days before my move out ) I was told they “meant” to update what was on the email but I never received an updated price list and I was emailed 3 times, on 3/5/21, 5/12/21, and 5/26/21 with same price list over and over. I’ve came to the conclusion that mac properties is just a money hungry corporation as to I was even charged a late fee during the pandemic also, my rent was raised as well. I lived in the 5301-5307 building and I also wanna state that the ceilings are ridiculously thin. When it was quiet in my house I could hear my upstairs neighbor talk on the phone, one day I was in bed and was able to hear them peeing, ridiculously thin. I kept it brief and I have more to say, and able to attach names to each issue but I want to see where this damages claim goes first. I’m 100% sure I’ll be told something completely different but I’ll be back to update. Just don’t do it, save yourself the headache

Ruth has been a tremendous help in getting me settled as a new resident. She is thorough in how she follows up regarding questions or concerns I may have – there was not one email or phone call left unattended. She helped me remain calm throughout the entire moving process. Upon officially moving into my unit, Ruth continued to check in with me and make sure things were satisfactory. I am very grateful to have her ​in Residential Services.

Its an old but well maintained building. Ive been here 4 years and each time my maintenance request is assigned to Carlos hes quickly responsive, professional while in my space and does thorough repairs.

Had a maintenance request for a touch up paint job fulfilled by Larry Jay Fielding and he did a tremendous job and was extremely polite and friendly all the while. I highly recommend him for service requests!

Carlos was very helpful when we moved in our new apartment. He explained every aspect of the building and provided the tools we needed.

Carlos is a great guy. He was very helpful and attentive as we moved in and solved really quickly our requests.

Lived at 5100 South Ellis Avenue. Had consistent issues with the washer, dryer and dishwasher malfunctioning. No garbage disposal in the sink, which would back up frequently. Had two leaks from the apartment above us. The fire alarms went off in the middle of the night as a warning for low battery, requiring us to call the fire department to check for a CO leak since there was no smoke or fire anywhere. While the administrative and maintenance staff are extremely polite, responsive and are a great resource for Mac Properties, the overall quality of the apartment is substandard. For the price, you can, and should, find better in Hyde Park.

Ms. Bonita Adams-Green if unprofessional is a person, she is it and it is HER. Never responds to my email, she is horrible. Please please DO NOT lease with them. One bad apple can definitely spoiled the bunch.Currently, having problems with a roach infestation and NO ONE from management has reached. Please, please do not rent from them. Apartments are not up to-date and they charge a lot.Roaches and mice all in the apartments and Ive only been here a month.ANDdddd....they want your account numbers for ComED and People Gas. A big violation of privacy. Never had this done to me before.

Mac properties have a million and 1 requirements to move in and do not inform you of having two checks or two money orders to pay for parking and rent separately. And if you pay on the portal you have to pay twice as well and get charged $26 each time you pay anything. Service orders take forever to fill and Regina Hamilton, that works in the office, is rude af on emails for service request.

Im living in 5252 apartments and my experience so far is being great. Starting from renting until the people that work at the reception. I highly recommend it.

I moved in here last April and have loved it since. Great location, the beach is a short walk away and there are a lot of great restaurants and stores nearby. Close to a Trader Joe’s which is always a plus. The building is maintained very well and all maintenance requests are taken care of very quickly. There is no package delivery spot within this building, but the packages are delivered right across the street at the Del Prado desk. Chandra Lee at the package pickup desk at Del Prado has always been so sweet and helpful whenever I go to get my packages.

Excellent service. Larry was very professional and I was very impressed.

Mac Aprtment treats the customers rudely. The people who actually work there are the bottom of the barrel. The are among the most ignorant people that you have ever had the chance to meet. The apartment building maintenance people spilled wood varnish all over my grill on mistake and the building has let it dry without cleaning it. Over priced and underserved.

Maintenance is terrible, very rude. Appartments in Chicago are sometimes kept in poor condition and a large percent of them have a large cockroach problem.

I have lived at the Del Prado for almost 3 years, and enjoy living here very much, its more like a community within a community. How they try to keep us saving during COVID-19 crisis I truly appreciate it. Special mention of Chandra, she is the central person who helps to make living at The Del Prado a wonderful experience. She goes above and beyond duty and her efforts to take care of us residents does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated!

I hate to leave a one star review, but unfortunately I have to, in this instance. Mac Properties is indifferent to theft on their property, and refuses to take any action. Their policy is not our problem, when they have cameras that in theory are in place to prevent theft. Bike stolen, packages stolen, food deliveries stolen...Mac is apparently okay with renting to criminals, and taking no action.Decent landlord all around, but lazy when it comes to tenant and property safety.

Ive been living at my Mac apartment for a bit more than two years and have found it to be a nice place to live. I appreciate the security with key fobs and having front desk receptionists at the building all day. I havent had any issues with packages or anything.The front desk people are helpful and friendly, and I wanted to especially comment on Angletha Price. She has been great and I appreciate her work.

From dealing with electricity outages and package deliveries to morning greets and friendly banters, Chandra is on top of everything and ensures the best experience for the residents.Mac is also quick to respond to maintenance repairs and in my opinion quite efficient. I have yet to have a single negative experience with both the management and the managers at Del Prado, and I highly recommend the residence experience.

Chandra & Danielle (& Asia when she was still here!) are wonderful - absolute superstars who make living in Del Prado a joy.Mac need to stop jacking up their prices well above inflation - asking 7% more each year from existing tenants while advertising the same units for less on the open market is price gouging, pure & simple.

These people took my 350 and deposit it with no place one of the agency told me because of my credit i have to pay 500 hundred dollers its been 4 weeks and they havent paid me back my money am reporting them

The leasing office charges are incredibly deceptive and convoluted. The building was a dumpster fire with terrible flooring, bad insulation, constant plumbing problems, peeling bathtub paint, and the bathroom window was covered in black grime the day I moved in and would not come off no matter what I did. Couldn’t really live anywhere else because nothing was affordable and even this tiny and terrible studio was WAY overpriced for how small it was. They don’t have a security deposit that is returned after the lease but it goes into first month rent which at first seems nice but is not actually in accordance with Tenant Rights. The deposit is supposed to be set aside for purpose of apartment damage requirements and is supposed to accrue interest and left untouched unless the apartment is damaged. They’re getting out of paying interest on the deposit AND out of actually providing proper care for the apartment by having the deposit feed into first month rent. The entire operation feels like a sleazy scam bent on taking money off college students.

My review is specifically about Chandra Lee who works at the front desk of a Mac property - and she is awesome. She does a great job of knowing everyone in the building, is always friendly and helpful, and is generally good at her job. I hope she is rewarded accordingly.

Maintenance staff Stefan was really helpful and kind. He did a great job fixing window screens. The job was done speedily even though he had to go back and forth from his office to my place several times to get more materials and tools.

Building maintenance is always stellar! I really appreciate having Keith as the primary maintenance person for any issues in my unit instead of a different person every time like other rental companies I’ve had. Keith is very professional and efficient. I’ve never had any issues he couldn’t fix. I also appreciate Mac Properties for following up on service calls.

He was very thorough, professional, and a very nice person! The weather has broke and of course its very hot outside, so I called Mac to have maintenance come out to install me and my sons ac units. Juan came out and installed both ac units, in a timely manner, and did a great job again! I would highly recommend Juan Ruiz! The Del Prado Apartments are not only a nice people to live in, but it also provides an amazing work environment as well. I’ve been working with NowPow since November 2018, and since then, the staff here has been amazing and friendly. Their gym and facilities are well-maintained thanks to their staff member Jose Garcia who works diligently to ensure everyone has a clean and comfortable space to operate in. Jose is always more than happy to provide help to residents and office workers with whatever he can, and with a great attitude as well. A+ service!

Great leasing experience with Rebecca Kobe at the Mac Properties. I have been looking for an apartment in Hyde Park for the past month. Rebecca has been very responsive and exceeded my expectation for a leasing agent. I have been dealing with several property management agents (TLC, Hyde Park Property Management, etc) but none could compete with the service I got from Rebecca. Highly recommended.

I love the apartment, area, and decent, respectful residents. The building is always kept clean. Overall its pretty good place to live. I would just suggest really attempting to inform yourself on all of the details before you move, just to ensure you know about the various bills etc, because every building is different. Ask about EVERYTHING because you never know what may have been left out or forgotten. My leasing agent in particular was not as informative as I would have liked and I was hit with a heavy gas bill that I was not expecting. Sometimes management is not as polite as they could be either, but aside from that, everything else is pretty good. The building is beautiful and usually quiet, plus the walls are nice and thick. Maintenance is also pretty quick and efficient. There is not much else that I can complain about.

I am a new resident with Mac Properties Del Prado . I will like to first compliment Mr. Ken Hall for his promptness in replying back about my inquiry of Mac Properties. His professional work ethics coupled with patience made my experience easy and smooth The whole process has been great. My concerns about safety and security were heard and as a medical professional with crazy hours of practice, Im very pleased with the whole outcome thus far!!!!!

Living in the Blackwood has been great! Wonderful staff! They are kinda pricey. But you get what your pay for. The leasing agents need to work on their professionalism. They play music in the office like they are at home and some forget about appointments. This dropped them to 4 stars.

Never rent with this company. I moved to Chicago for grad school and lived in a Mac rental. This has been a nightmare experience. Since January, Ive gotten itchy, burning skin reactions and headaches while living at a Mac property. Things have gotten worse with the warm weather. So much so that Ive lived somewhere else for the last month or so even though Im still paying rent. Theyve done nothing to resolve the issue. My emails go unanswered and my calls go to voicemail. The management lies to your face and doesnt care about tenants at all so long as they pay rent. For the cost of renting in Hyde Park, check out TLC Management Co. or a different rental company.Avoid Mac at all costs. Ive never felt so abused by a company before.

We just moved in here about a month ago. The facilities are always clean, maintenance has responded in a timely manner to a request we had a couple of weeks ago and the washers and dryers function well. I do enjoy the package notification system they have going on, having a concierge in the building is nice. I wish the elevators were a bit faster but thats what happens when you live in a building with 13 floors.

I love the staff at city Hyde park especially Natasha G she is awesome. Always pleasant and professional.

They have BED BUGS crawling out of the walls, ROACHES that live in your sink, and SHODDY RENOVATIONS that my husband and I could have constructed better.EVEN THE EXTERMINATORS SAID THE BUGS WERE COMING FROM THE FLOORBOARDS AND CEILING CORNERS.We are very clean people and were appalled by the state of the apartment AFTER signing the lease. All of mac properties are very nice and clean and well maintained ..communication with residents need to be better. its not enough to just leave notes in the hall ways and on doors. and if that must be done it is nice to leave the message ahead of time at least more then a 24 hr notice is needed in order to prepare for any visits or construction. a lot of residents have pets that need to be put away before maintenance enters the unit.

I moved into the Drexel Grand in July and was so excited to be living in Hyde Park! A couple weeks after my move in I started experiencing issues with my loud neighbor above me who would keep me up all night. I reached out to management to fix this issue, and I was notified that a call to the resident has been made and no issues with occur any further. Weeks went by and I was still experiencing disturbances night after night to the point where I would be woken up out of my sleep around 3am and not able to go back to sleep because the noise would not stop. Being someone who works early mornings I need my sleep. I communicated to the neighbor these issues and it seemed like we came to an understanding. I reached out to management again in December with thoughts on ending my lease early because I cannot take these disturbances anymore, and management wanted to reach out to the neighbor again with a simple call to ask to quiet down (this obviously didnt work the first time). I stated not to do this and I will handle on my own which I did. Last week was my final straw! My neighbors began their noise disturbances around 10pm and didnt stop until 5am! I reached out to management AGAIN and I have since been going back and forth with a manager in resident success and an employee because they think the noises I am hearing are at a normal level per speaking with the neighbors. I sent over countless emails with time stamps on texts between my neighbor and I as well as the lease where it states clauses about noise disturbances. Management is now ignoring anything I have to say regarding the lease and told me “transfer to a unit at the top floor to avoid disturbances” and “we need video evidence of the disturbances” and “please refrain from contacting your neighbor because its making her uncomfortable”. As the person who is experiencing the issues of being kept up all night I was being treated as the disturbing party. I sent in videos to prove and this was not enough for them. Being someone who has been in property management for years I am appalled at the service this company has shown! My neighbor and I are not being held at the same lease terms and this is bounds for a violation of fair housing laws, and they know this. I am currently taking legal action because I will no longer be securing a living with this trash company who is only out for taking money from their residents! Not to mention- all of the evidence from these 3 times I have complained I have provided for this case they are still stating this is not enough!!! They keep sending me “lease buyout” and “sublease” info and ignoring my concrete evidence. This is so disgusting and I will never recommend Mac to anyone. Save your money people!

Overall I have very much enjoyed my experience with MAC at the Algonquin. Id very much like to see fitness & laundry center improvements. I really enjoy the gorgeous windows/views & the layout of my apartment. To me, it is nearly perfect. I also appreciate the fact that MAC makes regular improvements throughout the buildings.

Ive only just moved in, but the apartment hunting and move-in process went fairly quickly and easily. The initial step was easy, as MAC quickly hooked me and my roommate up with a realtor, who obviously knew what she was doing. Settling on the apartment was also easy; the process only takes a few steps and is mostly online. Finally, we picked up and our keys and moved in without much hassle (except on our end!).

MAC Properties made our move into the city as seamless as possible. The staff: front desk, maintenance and leasing are all friendly and quick to respond. The building is gorgeous inside and out, a perfect combination of the historic and modern. We love the LEED features that keep our utilities ridiculously low and the convenience of package delivery and notification. Always a plus in the city!

The staff was really helpful and quick to respond to my emails. Furthermore, the company is experienced and it can be trusted. As an international student, these are very important for me. However, we are lacking of recycling facilities in the building.

The washing machines and dryers never seem to work. The building has been dealing with this issue for 3 week and nothing is done. This building has only 1 laundry room for more than 36 rental units.

I was able to see a place, put a deposit down, and sign a lease in two days! Maintenance always comes in a timely fashion and I was able to contact someone and let them know about paying rent late. They responded fast and put my mind at ease.

Mac Properties has been really good for my living experience, any time I have a complaint they take care of it quickly. I lived here almost five years now and havent had any major problems. Ill give them 41/2 stars because the only thing i dislike is the yearly raising of rent, I feel if someone has been with you for a period of time their rent should not increase. I still stay because the rent is not over my budget. I love the neighborhood I live in, it is precious.

Very flexible in scheduling the showing. Welcoming enough to allow us a second walk-thru after the lease was signed. Our leasing agent went above and beyond in getting answers to our questions. Were moving in within the next two weeks and I am very anxious to call The Algonquin Home. Thank you Mac Apartments for the great staff!

My experience finding the perfect home when I was ready to downsize after my kids went off on their own was very quick and easy thanks to Ken Hall at MAC Properties. Every time I emailed him with yet another question or request I felt like he was always just sitting there waiting for me to contact him with something else. Thats how fast his responses to me always were. Ken was very receptive to my wants and needs and made sure I got exactly what I was looking for. So far, I am very pleased with the experience with shopping around and the lease execution process. Thanks Ken, for making this a pleasant experience!
