My son who is an active Duty veteran took his car there for a clutch replacement. When he picked it up the check engine light came on in which he took it back to the dealer. They replaced some kind of flapper valve. After driving it for a little bit he noticed a noise that sounded like it was coming from the  clutch. In returning it again was notified that the mechanic took it out for a test drive and the motor blew up in which they want him responsible for all cost, totaling close to $10,000. The dealer has insurance for this purpose. So why are they not taking care of it ? Is this how we treat our military personnel?

Was really excited to go test drive the new 2021 VW Atlas and didnt really have a good experience. I felt like I was rushed and not really listened too. I test drove the atlas and was not very excited. The sales staff showed me the basic features in the car then took me in to talk about pricing and what I wanted. I told him what I wanted and they couldnt do nothing for me. I thanked the staff and walked away. HOWEVER, I did purchase a BEAUTIFUL 2021 VW ATLAS but not from this dealership.

Came in for diagnosis Monday 6/21/21. Needed to fix headlight and check engine light was on. Essentially paid over $100 just for them to confirm that it was a wiring issue like I expected so they did nothing and quoted me OVER $900 to fix and replace everything. Check engine light was still on after leaving therefore making a waste of another $100. Rescheduled for Wednesday but didnt bother coming back since it would be another two hours out of my day tbh. Ive had trouble with this dealer before with quoting me for expensive repairs for my 2011 Jetta that isnt even worth a dime and their horrendously slow service. Trading in my car next week for something better and I will not he returning to this dealer for ANYTHING.

I Loved my experience at Smith VW! After multiple attempts to fix my vehicle at another location, and being told it was unable to even be corrected. I took my Passat to Smiths VW to be repaired, Tony in the service department was awesome! I dropped my car off Thursday evening and they called Friday morning to let me know it was all fixed!!! George the mechanic, repaired a issue I had spent 6 months trying to have fixed at other locations! Jason also followed up to make sure everything was up to my standards and I truly couldn’t be happier! Thank you again!

A once amazing service department now quite the opposite.I would love to say my complaint is purely because it took 10 days to replace intake runner flap motors on a 2006 Audi A6 Avant, but it isnt. Everything that could have gone wrong did.Dropped off the car on the 22nd with Bobby, a service tech, stating it had a P2006 Engine code and I wanted to get an oil change while there. They stated they would do an engine diagnosis and figure out the issues.Later that day I was told it was the runner flap motors. Asked if that is near the intake valves and was told yes, so I gave them the okay to do the valve cleaning on top of the runner flap motors and oil change as they were already there. Agreed on the work being done and I was told to put down a 500 dollar deposit for the work to be done. All paid. All good. Talk to you soon.26th rolls around and no word from Smith VW. I call and find out that they were waiting on a gasket and it would be done early next week.29th rolls around and still no word, so I call. I was told that day that they were waiting on 1 bolt. And that they most likely had the bolt in house, but never checked during the 3 days. Will be done tomorrow.The 30th rolls around and I get an email, not even a phone call stating that the valves are dirty and need to be cleaned with an extra 517.50 tacked on to the quote. Even though we had already discussed and agreed on getting the valves cleaned. . .At that point I drove down to the dealership to get a better idea of why this was taking so long. The service manager, Jason Willey, was nothing but dismissive, cold, and would not take responsibility. His catch phrase being What do you want me to do about this?. Didnt even know much of anything of what was going on, what had happened leading to this issue, and also refused to acknowledge it as an issue. I demanded that the extra 517.50 be removed from the invoice. After much headache, that was what was done.When I asked why he didnt chime in when the car had been there for a week sitting, his response was I deal with 50 jobs a day, do you think I can keep up with them?. Just constant excuse after excuse.31st rolls around and at 4pm I am told I can go pick up the car. Car repair is paid, I start the car and drive 2 feet and the check engine light comes on. Looked at the mileage and it was obvious the car had not been test driven before I was told to pick it up.So I sit for 1 hour being told it is a vacuum line. 1 hour goes by, it isnt the vacuum line, they will have to diagnose it tomorrow as it is closing time and home I go with no car.The next day I wait until 10:30am, no call, no response, no nothing. So again I call. I am told it was a vacuum line. When I asked if it was a 2nd line or just that 1. No proper answer was given. When I asked why the car was not test driven yesterday I was given attitude and an excuse response of It is a 2006 car, what do you expect?. . .I was calm throughout this whole transaction. 10 days to get intake runner flap motors and a valve cleaning done. All because service techs wont listen to the customer, will not take issues as a priority, and seemingly just do not care about the customer if there is an issue. It was extremely upsetting to see the service manager act the exact same way.

Service is unprofessional and flat out unknowledgeable about proper pricing and estimates. The amount of times as a customer I got called bud And the fact that my personal situation related to the vehicle was being laughed at by the service team after I informed them about my cars issues. In addition on March 13 went for a simple oil change and found when going to my vehicle it had a drawling on the rear windshield that was disturbing and unprofessional.

From the time I came in 6yrs ago (2014) to buy a car, the salesperson and financing dept were super friendly and worked hard and fast to make the process go smoothly. Ive spoken to them since then and they still make me feel special! Same with the service and reception dept. Theyre extremely helpful, informative and patient whenever I have questions. I recently bought a preowned vehicle here. They do not offer any type of warranty on the car what so ever . not even 24 hours. this was a real disappointment.So you drive it off the lot at your own risk The following day Ichecked the fluids! there was absolutely no washer fluid in the reservoir. Then The following day the sun was beating down,so I went to close the sunroof sun screen, It was inoperable and jammed in the full open position. They did not offer to take it through Maryland inspection, so that cost is on the customer also. I feel the service department fell way short on the reconditioning of this vehicle.There were clearly a couple of dents and a quarter size paint chip that could of been easily fixed but they were also ignored. The lack of detail shows through on this car. So, hence the 1 star rating. I will not recommend this dealership for a preowned vehicle.

A few weeks ago I purchased a Golf GTI, my dream car ever since I remeber my dad driving one. I initially went to look at a certified pre-owned that had a really good price. After speaking with Andrew OBrien, however, decided to purchase a brand new 2019 GTI SE. He had a great passion for explaining the VW line-up, not just the GTI. I had my Atlas serviced at this place. It was 450 dollars for only oil change and some minor things to start with. I thought i should spent it as it is a dealership. After 6-7 hours when I called to pick up, the guy said they have not started working on my car. They will try to finish whatever they can., which was very poor since I had dropped my car first thing in the morning. Another 2 hours later when I was called to pick up my car, the guys was telling me only certain things were done out off very small routing service and recalls. Still I just picked up car, thinking they must have done service right.Now 2 weeks later my washer fluid ran dry, which according to service they should have topped up. Now I have real doubt if they did any of the service including oil change, or tire rotation or spark plug change. In the name of dealership service, they just want to provide poor quality service for very high rates, and not do everything or anything as a part of the service.Volkswagen should look into dealership like this.

Have had my car here several times and have spent ALOT of money here. I’ve been having a transmission issue lately, the first time there was a noise coming from my transmission, they called me told me it was internal and the only way to get rid of the noise was to replace the transmission. 12000 miles later the transmission they replaced starts to grind in 4 different gears was told it would not be covered under any type of warranty and they couldn’t cut me any kind of break so I paid them to replace the transmission for the second time. 1800 miles later my transmission starts to grind once again, it’s currently there now waiting to hear back. They don’t care about loyal customers here and I won’t be returning here for service again after this 3rd time.

Needed to get a new key made. After being billed $280 i assumed i should be good to go. I was wrong. Service department told me my fob couldnt be programmed because some module was bad. They said i would have to spend 190 on diag and then on the new part that was needed. I denied that service because i knew that it seemed incorrect. My friend was able to plug his diagnostic computer in to my car and get my fob working completely functional in about 5 minutes. Not sure if i was being lied to or if theres a lack of experience & knowledge at smiths service department. Also compared to other dealerships after the fact and realized i could have saved $100 with another dealer. Honestly i dont feel comfortable bringing my car back for anything else.

Just purchased a vehicle (2014 Toyota Corolla S) from Smith VW and had a really great overall experience. Zero complaints, had a very smooth, hassle-free process from start to finish. The original sales rep Justin wasnt high pressure, was friendly, and very helpful. He brought in Jeff who I believe was one of the sales managers, who ended up helping out significantly with the financing approval and also making sure he took care of the 1 concern I had (brake pads being too worn down) before I was willing to move forward. I left Thursday night after putting down a deposit, then came back Friday afternoon to find the car detailed, cleaned up, and the brake pads replaced! That definitely helped secure my decision and put any apprehension about making the purchase at complete ease. I originally walked in planning to use the pre-qualification through COAF, but Jeff & Brian were actually able to get me a better % rate and lower payment through another bank. Ended up working much more in my favor and Im glad they offered that as an additional option. Honestly, I couldnt have been happier with the experience thus far. Ive only driven the car for 24-48hrs so far, but this is one beautiful vehicle. Thanks for everything Smith VW!

All I can say is THANK YOU! You guys have totally given my boyfriend so much happiness. Rick was our salesman. He had the car ready for us and took us to a great route for the test drive. He was efficient in collecting information and returned quickly with responses. He stayed after hours just to make sure we drove off of the lot happy. Jeff was the person we had negotiated the finances with mostly. He was pretty stern, understandably, but totally met us in the middle in regards to our expectations. Matt was our finance paperwork rep. He explained the documents we had to sign thoroughly, but also did it in a fast pace manor so we could wrap up quickly. I recently purchased a car from a different dealership and I would say that these guys far surpassed my experience there. We are very happy. Will definitely be back very soon.

First and foremost, these reviews on Google are fake. They are manifested from fake accounts to boost their credibility. If you don’t think so, look at other reviews sites. In fact not sure how this dealer is in business. The sales person who was supposed to help us was rude, kept mumbling under his breath making us aware he did not want to help us until we got the point and left. Why you ask? Because we said we wanted to try out all three cars (Mazda 3, civic, Jetta,). before buying thus he did not think he would g a sale that day. I will not be back to this dealer, my kids will never shop here. They have lost 8 potential customers . To much competition in this industry to have to deal with childish, rude, immature, pathetic staff. Buyer Beware.

Let me start by saying that I am picky with who I let touch my cars. With that being said, I would never hesitate to take either of my fully modified cars or my girlfriends stock Tiguan to Smith VW. Whether its for an alignment, a t-shirt, an aftermarket intake, or a simple oil change, Smith VW is the one stop shop. My MKV R32 recently needed the 80k service and I needed it done as soon as possible. I called and spoke with Service Manager Jason Willey and he not only got me in on the day and time I needed, he had the car done and ready for me an hour and a half ahead of time. Weve already purchased two vehicles from Smith VW in the past two years and we will surely be back to purchase more. The friendly atmosphere and the enthusiast based staff make it a pleasure to do business there.

We just bought a 2019 Jetta S from Andrew at Smith VW and I have to say that I was blown away by Andrew. He went above and beyond to make sure that we found the perfect car for us, which included my husband’s very particular specifications. Worst experience ever at this dealership! We have been loyal patrons of this dealership for years. The car that was being serviced was purchased from Smith Volkswagen and all of the service has been performed by them. We had extensive mechanical work performed as well as 4 tires replaced. It was also suggested that we have additional work completed to save on a future repair. We opted to have all mechanical work & tire replacement done at once to ensure dependability over the winter months. When we went to pick the car up it was sitting on the lot and the rims were covered with grease (a brown substance). A closer look revealed damage to all of the rims! We requested they be cleaned off so we could actually see them. The service manager Jason W. complied with our request. The damage was then very visible however Jason W. denied any responsibility. We then had the “pleasure” of speaking with his manager Jason Smith who also denied any responsibility & stated this was “old damage”. The problem is that the so called “old damage” was not present before the tires were replaced. My husband had just detailed the car prior to this repair and the car is garage kept. We have never been treated so disrespectfully by a business owner! We paid our $5200 & left with damage to our vehicle that was not prior to this work.

Just like my first experience with them a few months ago when I bought my new Metra, always quick to greet you & get you taken care of. Had a problem pop up last night at 8:30pm, stopped in & got an appointment for first thing today (very next day) & was in & out in less than a hour. I always get bugged by Volkswagen to leave a review after a visit. I never do because I don’t want to relive the experience. Suffice to say, I look forward to dealing with Smith Volkswagen less then I look forward to a dentist visit.UPDATE:Just got off the phone with someone and they were about as helpful/apologetic as I would expect. Being charged $20 for not refilling the rental when I was told it was not necessary since it was covered under recall is a nice f--- off to a loyal customer. I will not be getting any future service done at this location due to incredibly poor customer service.

Mike was amazing! Great sense of humor and very easy going. As we walked in after searching the night before after close, we came back in to look at a specific vehicle. Mike was on the way out the door, but stopped and helped us anyway. 3 hours later we were in our brand new Tiguan! Amazing job through the whole process! Thanks a million Mike!

Had an alignment done and car still pulled to one side, i keep track of all my miles and they never test drove it after the alignment so I was on my own to pay for a rental since they wouldn’t have the car done until the next day.Next trip I made a 9am appointment for an oil change, arrived at 9 on the dot and was told that it would be 1 1/2 hours before they could even get to my car.Jason and the staff have always been really nice but unfortunately nice doesn’t fix my car.I was looking to buy a new VW but I don’t think I’ll waste my time there now.

Bought a new 2020 VW Passat Rline from Smith VW. The buying experience was very positive. Once we agreed on the price, the whole process took about 45 mins. In and out like the burger place. I found a used car I was interested in online at Smith vw. It was a scion but when I called to talk to a sales person Kevin was was very helpful and knowledgable from the start. I was coming from about 2 hours away and kevin was able to get me the price I wanted over the phone and the car was detailed (very well) and waiting for me when me and my wife got there and we were in and out in less then an hour. Great customer service and friendly staff. If you need a vw or a nice used cat go see Kevin at Smith VW. Its worth the drive.
