Aspire has been amazing so far! The amenities are great and they always have fun things planned for their residents. It’s a great place to meet other college students, and it’s overall pretty quite.
I have lived here at Aspire for over a year now, and I have truly enjoyed my experience here. The staff is very friendly, and I would highly recommend this place. The location is great and Aspire has a lot of amenities such as the basketball court and the pool that make this place very appealing. Ben is a great manager, and any concerns that I have had have been addressed quickly. I really appreciate everything Aspire has done to make improvements since I have moved back this school year, and I am looking forward to another school year living here.
Washer and dryer have been broken for 2.5 months and we talk to maintenance and the front desk every couple days and it still has not been solved. The wifi is now out and the front desk told us to call spectrum ourselves. There are bugs everywhere. And the couch cushions are torn up and they told us 2.5 months ago they would get us new ones and never have. The shower drains do not drain quickly, they pool at the bottom ankle deep. I have never had more trouble getting a date and time that my problem would be fixed. They promise everything and then provide nothing. Do not live here.
I have had a great experience with aspire. Especially the maintenance team. They are always on top of everything. I am very sad to hear Hector is leaving. He has been a great help!
I would love to give a good review in the front office of Peyton, Brooke, Josie, and shayla they have been great help with me and I would recommend aspire 349 for anyone
Lived at Aspire for 2 years. Was okay in the beginning, but only got worse from there. The gates never work, the whole place is absolutely disgusting especially toward the back where they never have to take new residents. I realize this is mainly because of the college students, but I had neighbors who would leave leaking trash out for weeks and never be penalized for doing so. They claim they would charge you for leaving bags of trash out but that never seemed to be the case. Not just outside of the apartments but out in the grass areas there is always beer cans, old food, and just trash everywhere. You can barely walk around without seeing it. They were also not lenient on anything at all during covid even though they are a student living facility they did not accommodate to the students very well. My only positive is that the maintenance workers are very nice. There are much better places for students to live in Wilmington that are also much cheaper and better quality. Aspires prices are way too high for what they offer.
Without a doubt would never recommend this place to anyone, during the pandemic, I would send 6-7 emails a week and countless calls to the office asking for assistance with things going on during those trying times, maybe once every few months I’d get responses back, the main manager of the compound Victoria Reese is the most unprofessional person I’ve ever worked with. Not only that when they would communicate they would direct me to one persons email only to find out that the gentlemen hadn’t worked there in months, when I asked what to do and why this happened, I was told it was my fault….I kid you not, on the bright side, Best maintenance crew I’ve ever met, they are wonderful, but over all don’t live here if you don’t want to stress. If your washer/heater/ac/ etc have issues look for The maintenance crew out and about each day because you won’t get a single reply from the office. Again 0/10 do not live herePs, both current managers Samantha and Victoria are the worst humans I’ve ever had to speak to, disrespectful and talk down to you as if it’s a joke.
I liked my apartment, I think it was worth the money I paid for. However, my last few months of living there, I somewhere ALWAYS went over my electricity when I never did before, and I was the only person living there at the moment. Not to mention the staff was never in a hurry to help me, like when I had my internet out for over a week. The landscaping was also not impressive, there were always beer cans everywhere and people left their trash everywhere, even though we were supposed to be fined if we did that. The gates were always broken, and people always left their dog poop everywhere. I just felt that for as much as I paid to live there, things should have been better.
The maintenance team is very responsive and respectful. Shane was very helpful with anything that we needed.
Phenomenal maintenance staff, any problems always got resolved in a timely manner. Great employees, very kind. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Managers on site are very disgusting, nasty bitter attitudes. Samantha ( assistant community manager) is very rude, bias and as a black women, I would consider her prejudice as well. I use to love calling up to the office because the staff is always so nice and respectful in any situation, they do not get if from management because I would rather speak to a regular employee then staff management for any problems I have. The other manager up there (can’t remember their name ) same exact way! Don’t recommend aspire 349 at all especially if you are a minority! Management very prejudice.
The maintenance team always responds quickly. Shane was very helpful.
In the initial move in process Ben was very helpful with answering all the questions I had and being very friendly. The Maintence was the main reason of the review Shane was very help with moving in all my belongings to my apartment and if there was anything wrong he would make sure it gets done.
I moved here from Fayetteville N.C and this is a great place to live at, everyone is really cool I’ve made a lot of friends living down here and the complex is really awesome, they host really good and thoughtful events for everyone to come out and enjoy and I don’t think most complexes around here do that. And speak to Ben he is a really nice and genuine person and he will help you for all your questions and needs, really nice pool, clubhouse I recommend this place to anyone and everyone trying to attend UNCW or cape fear
After living at Aspire for 2 years, here are my pros and cons.Pros:Close to campus.Friendly staff.Cons:Entrance and exit gates worked 20% of the time through out the two years. Gates rarely work( always locked ) so you’ll have to constantly drive around.Thin walls, can hear every step people on the top floors make.Apartments are old, the kitchen appliances have been there for years and therefore they need a lot of maintenance constantly.Parking is always and issue, impossible to have people over on weekends. The community overall isn’t the cleanest. Conclusion: There are definitely tons of other much better choices in Wilmington for student apartment living with a lot more value for money. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for student housing. If you do end up living here, avoid living next to the basketball court, you won’t sleep, not even during finals. There are so many better choices...
I started living here back in January and I have to say that everything here is amazing. The amenities, faculty, staff, living conditions are all very superb. I attend UNCW and chose the right place to live at off campus. Only a mile away from campus which is very convenient and only about 10 minutes away from Wrightsville beach. Shuttle services are an option for the people living in the complex and are right outside of the gate of aspire 349. As a college student living here it is very convenient with market street and college rd being very easy to get to which is where most restaurants and all the shopping centers are (Walmart, target, etc). Aspire 349 hosts events that are very fun and enjoyable for all residents, they do love to put a smile on their communities faces. I would definitely recommend living here to all my friends and even family.
Just moved in yesterday and have no complaints. Ben is awesome
Great experience from Shane during the move in.
The apartments are nice, the furnishings are nice. The office staff seems nice. However, DO NOT apply to rent here unless you already have specific roommates. The people that are supposed to match roommates put me with a depressed 44-year-old divorcee who sulks because I spend too much time on Xbox or watching TV and not enough time talking to him. I thought I would be put with other college students, but apparently thats not an obvious move for them.
I love living here
Great Place with Great People
This is my second year here and I couldnt imagine a better place. The Staff and amenities at Aspire 349 separate its self from the rest!
Very poor customer relations/Customer service
Overall a great place to live. The staff here are amazing and so polite. There’s a lot of benefits to living here. You meet amazing people and your less than a mile away from campus! As well as participating in giveaways to win some pretty amazing things, such as a brand new Apple Watch or Apple TV. They also cater to your every need. Whenever you have a problem they are always there to help you find a solution.
This place is great! They have awesome amenities that other apartment complexes don’t offer! The apartments themselves are very spacious and overall it’s just a great place to live! Super friendly staff :)
After being put under new management Aspire has definitely stepped up their game with completing work orders, keeping the complex clean and orderly, and the staff is awesome. They are all super friendly and will help you with any leasing questions or concerns. Highly recommend
When first considering this complex, it seemed a really nice place for my daughter to live her very first year from home. They claimed to be a secured community with functioning gates and pet friendly. However, they changed the locks without prior notice, have not replaced broken furniture which was reported upon move in. They change their idea of leasing policies at their discretion and we now find ourselves having to rehome my daughters pet due to poor management/communication. Every time I have visited, there is a strong smell of marijuana being smoked in the facilities. Worst part is the school recommends this place and from the parents perspective their administration is a complete joke. They have young kids running the front desk without any ability or authority to make decisions. They will not give out numbers to managers and only emails, which have gone unanswered or the promise of weeks before anyone will even be available to answer. I am sorry to say but if you are considering this place - keep looking around. I am seriously disappointed and plan on making the referring school aware of this so thoughtful consideration will be given before recommending this complex.Read down the review section - meant comments are the same. Wish I had read more prior to signing this lease.
I am a freshman in college and new to the Wilmington area. Deciding to live at Carolina Cove was the best decision I made! Its a very friendly community along with a big pool, 24 hour fitness and printing/study room in the club house. Carolina Cove is very involved with the community, they always host fun events for residents to interact with one another. The maintenance team is very friendly and helpful with anything you may need! I will definitely be renewing my lease here for next year!
My son lives at one of the apartments for almost a year now. I never hear him complaining and every time I call the office, everyone is very nice and helpful. A couple of weeks ago my son started working at the front office and he said they are very accommodating with his schedule. I am a very pleased mom.
HUGE s/o to Evan for being so great and making sure my air got fixed. It was 85 in my apartment and he took the time out of his day to personally come by and work on the unit until it was working again. Glad I live in a place where the staff is so helpful and caring about the residents.
I would like to say how amazing the maintenance team is at aspire 349. Extremely inviting and nice people who truly make the community feel at home. Shout out to Jeremy and Hector for fixing my dishwasher after I used the wrong soap in it. They did a great job fixing the issue and left a nice note. I also want to send a shout out to the management team but most importantly Caleb who makes this place feel a little more like home every time I speak with him. The only thing I would fix about Aspire 349 is their back gate, it would be nice if you could enter through it as a resident.
The maintenance crew is amazing. They do a great job!
Took a tour at aspire and loved it! Hailey knew every answer to my questions and really made the tour fun and interesting! The whole staff was very friendly and welcoming
WORST PLACE IVE EVER LIVED!!!!!!If you have a job good luck sleeping! parties and drugs all the time. Security Officers run around all hours of the night yelling at kids and breaking up parties. But it does NO GOOD! I work at the hospital 12 hour shifts and need my sleep! The management is just plain awful. No matter how much you complain about the excessive noise and smell of pot coming from apartments NOTHING IS DONE! I walked out of my apartment one day to even see a thug dealing HEROIN to my neighbor! Since working at the Hospital i see my fair share of heroin packages and this was exactly that! I went on about my business and complained.* Come to find out the manager of this place is a POT HEAD! No wonder none of these drug issues are getting taken care of!The maintenance guys are great and whenever i needed things done they were there to fix them! No issues with that. The front office seems like they run around with their heads cut off, only the girls who sit up front have any idea of what is going on.If you are a decent working person STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! A BUNCH OF DRUNK COLLEGE KIDS WITH DRUGS EVERYWHERE!! THUGS HANGING OUT ALL THE TIME. NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR KIDS!!
Dont live here. When you move out they will charge you a crazy amounts of money for nothing. If you do end up living here, when you move out remember to ask for a itemized statement. If you do that it will save you about $300.
Horrible management who obviously only care about their profit margin. When UNCW refunded dorm and meal plan fees, the management at Aspire basically laughed in my face when I asked to terminate my lease early. I was forced to pay for the entire 12 month period even after UNCW closed campus for the year due to COVID 19. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
I moved here fall of 2017 when it was still Carolina Cove. My experience here as Carolina Cove was horrendous, so I was happy to see that the property was under new management at the end of fall semester/beginning of spring semester. However, I have not seen improvement in the management. I see great improvements in the property itself such as new flooring, redoing the parking lot and cleaning the facility. The new manager has absolutely no place working in a customer service company WHATSOEVER! As a waitress I am well aware of what quality customer service looks like. I have come to speak with the manager, Lilly, several times about serious concerns pertaining to my roommate situation and my pets. Both times she looked at me with a stone cold face showing no sympathy or concern. After my floors had been redone maintained had come into my apartment unannounced while I was not home and locked my bedroom doors and my two roommates doors who do not live there anymore. My things were still in the bedrooms from being moved during the floors being worked on and my cats were locked in my room away from their food and water in the living room. Aside from this, the gates never work and hot tub hasn’t worked since I moved in. I am extremely disappointed in the change of management. It is ran by kids at the office, maintance is rude, and everything is always breaking. Please save yourself the money and do not live here when there are other much nicer places to live at similar pricing.
I just love the hammock garden and business center! The staff is always friendly and ready to help whenever I need something. Accidentally locked my key in my apartment and I received assistance right away. The apartments are great and well maintained.
Carolina Cove is such a great community to lease with. They have awesome resident events! Whenever I have a question or request, I know I can always go to Angel in the front office and she will get things done!
I love living here it was one of the first places I looked when looking for apartment and as a sophomore finding somewhere to live off campus was super important to me. Everyone on the staff is super nice and they go above and beyond to help their residents. The apartments themselves are super homey and a great price for what you get.
I absolutely love living in Carolina Cove! The staff in the office is amazing and they are always willing to help you out with whatever you need. Out of all of the apartment complexes I looked at in Wilmington, Carolina Cove was my top pick simply because the atmosphere is super welcoming and I felt at home instantly. Not to mention the pool area which is awesome! I definitely recommend this apartment complex to any college student looking for a fun/safe place to live! Also Alex up at the front office is great!
This was our boys first choice in apartments when we started looking for an apartment for them for school. I can say from support we have received from the staff, it has been spot on. Evan has been instrumental at helping the transition to apartment living for my boys great. He has responded to every email and phone call promptly and proficiently. The accommodations, and amenities are great, if they get board its their own fault. So from my prospective as a parent, im glad my boys have chosen to live at Carolina Cove. And that we have a staff member ( Evan) that is willing to go the extra mile to make sure any issue is handled promptly
I needed to move in a little early because I had NOWHERE to go and I was staying in my vehicle and I talked Alyssa and she let me move in a few days early and helped me out TREMENDOUSLY. When I moved everything in I had no problems with maintenance either. I have been very satisfied with Carolina Cove.
I have lived here for over two years and I absolutely love it. It is a chill environment and the office staff is always friendly and ready to help. There are great amenities, including an office space that is perfect for when you get overwhelmed and want to get out the house for exams.
Carolina Cove has been an amazing apartment community to live in this past year. I have enjoyed it so much that I have renewed my lease for this upcoming year. Not only are the apartments up to date and new, but the management is what tops the charts. I have never had a bad experience with the staff at the cove. Always friendly, willing to help, and ready to tackle any issues that you may come across. Maintenance is by far the best I have seen at any apartment community as well. Any issues that arise are normally handled that day or the next morning. I have had an absolutely great time here and plan on staying!
Best maintenance staff, Jermey and the guys can do it all!
Absolutely adore this place. 10/10 would recommend. Awesome dog park and pool! Couldnt have asked for a better college living experience!!
Used to work at the office, had to leave because of scheduling conflicts. However, I applied to work here because of how much I love living here. After seeing the behind the scenes, I appreciate all the workers, from maintaince to office staff. I love the new management.
I never do reviews but please read this one. Do not live here. I repeat DO NOT live here. I just had gun shots and three men jump out of a glass window in the apartment above me and police all over the place tonight. The leasing office is disorganized. Anything left on my door step is stolen. Residents are shady. There’s major drug use and possible selling of drugs happening in apartments all around me. I do not feel safe personally living here and would not recommend even taking the chance of living here. If you’re a parent do not let your kids live here. I’m in my twenties and saying this, that’s when you know it’s not just a college area type thing. This place is not safe. I just wish I had some type of review like this to save me from my “binding contract” and the office continues to remind me as I’m crying every night terrified to walk my dog at night.
I have lived in Carolina Cove for 2 years, and am staying for a third. I havent had any problems, until now. I lost my key, found one, and took it into the office, and they are saying I have to pay $50 for another key even though I turned one in. I understand that if you lose a key you are charged, but I found a key I thought was mine and had no way of knowing it wasnt technically the exact same key since I found it where I lost mine. The manager Alyssa was very rude from the start and didnt even fully listen to the situation before telling me I was wrong and she wasnt going to help me. I love my apartment but am over the front desk and management staff being rude to a loyal resident.
Alyssa Arnold is always very professional, and a helpful team member. She was a delight to work with as she took the time to listen, understand and help resolve my problems. I look forward to working with her in the future if the need arises.
The staff is so friendly and amazing! Working closely with Kelcie I could really tell she cared about my overall satisfaction in finding my home for the next year! Never had any issues with maintenance orders, normally completed within 24 hours.Great place to live and perfect location for me!
I lived at this complex for over 5 years. It used to be called Carolina Cove, however the property was recently purchased by Balfour Beatty and they renamed it Aspire 349. I never had any problems with the former management, even when I was seriously injured and was in the hospital for months they let me out of a 12 month long lease no questions asked. When I went to move out under the new management, everything went okay at first. I received a Final Account Balance of around $36.00 which I was more then happy to pay. Then just a few days later I received another email informing me that I owe over $400.00 to replace the carpet in my room, and if I didnt pay, I would be turned over to collections.I sent many emails and phone calls but never was able to get in contact with any form of management. The carpet in my room was at least 5-6 years old and was absolutely disgusting when I moved in a year and a half ago. The carpet is also extremely cheap, some of the lowest quality you can buy, so it was definitely long overdue to be replaced.Long story short I do not recommend living here under any circumstances. If you do decide to live here, I have a suggestion. Take pictures of EVERYTHING. The porch, walls, carpet, etc. Even if you leave the space looking cleaner then you found it, if something needs replaced due to normal wear and tear, rest assured you will be getting the bill and it will be overpriced.Seeing is how I live over 4 hours away and work during the week days I have no option but to pay the bill or go through a mediation office in Wilmington for assistance in settling the matter.Aspire 349 might as well be a criminal enterprise.
My first three days at Carolina Cove have been an experience worth writing about. I may even write a book about it. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and I have a nice view of the pool. The workers are friendly and beautiful and my roommate is very compatible. Carolina Cove is THE place to be!
This place is a great destination for anyone looking to find a place with a home feel. Great facilities even better location. Coming from trinity and bell properties in the past my standards were set pretty high but working closely with Angel and being on the property really gave me the home feeling I was looking for staff, space and safety make this property a must stop... along with the basketball court :)
Oh my gosh, where do I begin!? Ever since I walked through the door at Carolina Cove, I immediately felt a sense of home. The staff is so friendly and the amenities are top notch! I especially like the cereal bar and the pool area. Also the sand volleyball courts are so cool. If you are looking for an apartment, definitely ask for Angel or Evan! Also, Alyssa the community manager really knows her stuff. She really helped me sort out an issue I was having with my roommate, and everything is all good now. :) I look forward to telling my friends to move here when they start at UNCW next semester!!
Weve allowed our precious son to renew his lease there due to the peaceful and student-oriented atmosphere that the Cove is able to provide. He lives right beside the pool. Theyve recently added really pretty chairs and cabanas that werent there the last time that I visited!
YOU WILL GET TOWED!Ok. if you are not a college student you probably dont want to live here. If you are sensitive to noise you also probably dont want to live here. The amenities are great! Love the business center and being able to print for free is a blessing. Parking is a nightmare. Dont think you wont get towed. Maintenance department is great. Anytime there was an issue it was handled quickly and they are always friendly. The staff was always great to me. & plenty of grace was extended when I most definitely needed it.
Pet waste and Juul pods litter the grass, loud parties every other night, and basically nonexistent property security make me feel that, despite being one of the least expensive complexes near UNCW, Im still overpaying.
Love spending my weekends here! The pool is really nice for an apartment and my dog loves the dog park. Always a great time with great people
Carolina Cove is the best student housing in Wilmington by far! The pool area is always super fun. The staff is helpful and really friendly every time I need something. Couldnt imagine living anywhere else!
One the of best student living apartments in Wilmington! Ive lived in a handful of apartments in the area and Cove is definitely one of the best. The front office staff has been extremely helpful with any problems or questions we had while living there. Its also one of the only gated complexs around!
Perfect off campus student housing for UNCW students! I love my apartment and I am excited for the rest of the year. Move in was so easy and the staff was very welcoming and kind. Amenities are the best in this area for sure.
I loved staying at Carolina Cove. The staff was also super friendly! I think one of the employees (Emily) was the one who helped me! Will definitely be coming back.
Dog feces at this complex is deplorable and unsanitary. Creates unhealthy living conditions to residents and pets. Litter and trash. The pool was not permitted to operate because of failure to bring water standards up to acceptable limits. This has been the case since September 2017, however, management made false representation about pool water quality/standards/safety. Feces add to extremely harmful environmental and water pollution.Management was not honest.
I am not even a resident just have friends in this complex and have suffered from this place. The administration failed to listen to resident complaints about a bug problem. This caused my car to be infested with thousands of mites. In one night my car was infested. The mites damaged my car by staining it with red marks to the point where I have to now pay for a very intense detailing of both the inside and outside of my car. When I called they said they could do nothing and gave me no tips on how to at least get them out of my car. I was told to use my boyfriends car or just wait. The stuff I have heard about not helping with rent and even charging more during the COVID-19 crisis is honestly enough to make me say this place is run by thieves.
Freaking gate never accepts any codes.Update: If this is the case your residents dont know when the codes change or what the new ones are. I have been given dozens of codes that simply do nothing that same day. The help button does not connect to anyone who can open the gate. Aspen Heights has a gate too with the same mechanisms and it always works.
I dont leave reviews but the Cove has earned it. Lived here for a year and loved everything about it. Work orders are completed in a timely manner and with good craftsmanship. Management has never been anything but polite and helpful, especially the girls and guys manning the front desk. Residents can be noisy and rowdy from time to time, but this is to be more than expected (if you have any common sense) when living in a community that specializes in student living. I was a little nervous about living here after reading some negative reviews, but it quickly became apparent that I was in good hands here. Bad reviews come from the people who make mistakes and try to take their anger out on staff to no avail, I have witnessed this happen many times while getting coffee in the front office and I have always been more than impressed with the managements composure. I would almost certainly leave or lose my job if I had to put up with some of the bratty stuff Ive seen. Also in response to the review left by Marissa, most people who are actually independent dont complain about how others have mommy and daddys money. This is a prime example of a resident on a power trip after not getting her way. These overly-emotional reviews carry no weight or real insight into how the company operates. I have been nothing but pleased and impressed with my time here at Carolina Cove- especially after this years new remodeling and additions- and have decided to renew my lease and stay for another year. Looking forward to it even more than my first year. Thanks to all here in the community who made my transition to Wilmington easier!
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!Place claims to be a gated community but gates are always either broken or always open. Never any visitors parking because of the open gates, people come from other apartments to park here. Security is never here, they are here only during certain times which they just sit in their cars on their phones. There has been people messing with cars, breaking into apartments.. etc. They dont do anything because there are no cameras. I am ending my lease 4 months early because of these issues and more . :)))) Because i am ending my lease early I have found another apartment to stay in the month of May but since I am leaving aspire they are not only charging me a $250 subleasing fee but also making me pay the whole month of May $675 HOPING to get reimbursed (half of rent) on the 15th of may. This is a HUGE inconvenience for me considering now I have to pay TWO RENTS for the month of may AND the $250 fee. This honestly is the worse place to rent from, and has a terrible reputation from other surrounding students. 0/1 stars if I could.
I couldnt recommend this place enough. All inclusive prices, upgraded pool area, and the new furniture in my apartment make me never want to move! You cant find everything they offer at their price point anywhere else.
FUTURE RENTERS BEWARE!My son moved into Aspire in August 2018. I signed his lease back in February 2018 because the Aspire people recommended we do that to guarantee him an apartment. When we went for orientation at UNCW in June, they still had plenty of available apartments, as did they when he finally moved in..Only difference is they were renting for less than I am paying! Okay, no biggie …..who really ever knows how fast apartments will rent in the long run, right. When we first visited Aspire they bragged about how secure the complex was, how they had gates to keep non residents out, gas grills for the residents, repairs completed in a timely manner, card access system for the common areas. The truth is we are now approaching the end of December and all the gates are always open but when you ask about them you are told they in the process of getting them fixed. I hope if someone’s daughter gets assaulted or anyone gets hurt because of Aspire not providing its residents with the security they promised, they are held liable. I’m concerned for my son’s safety at Aspire and couldn’t imagine having a daughter live there. The gas grills never have gas, some of the doors with card access to common areas don’t work, for instance the exercise room. When my son moved in there was a hole in his front door that looked like someone stuck a knife in it, he turned in a work order but it has yet to be fixed….again we are approaching the end of December. Shortly after moving in there were some non-resident people on the basketball courts early in the morning using all kinds of foul language. He has also noticed a lot of people recently walking around the apartments that don’t live there. If something gets damaged on the outside of the apartments and they can’t find out who did it, all the tenants have to cover the cost of repairs. So they don’t have any concern over who is wondering around the property; they’re covered…they just charge it to the tenants. Read the lease very carefully. If you decide to stay here, don’t expect it to be the way they present it to you.In addition to the above, the way Aspire handles utilities is ridiculous. I pay $745 per month which includes a $30 allotment for utilities; therefore, a two bedroom apartment would have an allotment of $60 ($30 per resident). If there are overages, then any amount over $60 would be billed to and shared by the residents. My son’s roommate never moved in. He obviously signed a lease, so Aspire 349 is most likely collecting $745 from him and $30 of that would be for his part of the utilities. However, they are not applying that $30 toward the electric bill they are charging us 100% of the utilities, they are essentially keeping his roommates $30 that should be applied to the electric bill Secondly, the extra bedroom and bathroom are locked, and off limits to my son, as they should be. However, there is only one thermostat in the apartment, so I have to pay to heat and cool that bedroom and bath as well as covering all electricity to major appliances that are designed for two residents. Imagine this, you move into a three bedroom apartment expecting two roommates with a total of $90 electric allowance and the other two don’t show. Aspire349 now expects you to pay the total electric bill which includes heating and cooling two bedrooms and bathrooms that you don’t have access to and major appliances that are designed for three people. You are basically taking care of Aspires property while they collect rent for it including $60 for utilities for two people. We have made several attempts to rectify this directly with Aspire 349 to no avail. We call and are told they aren’t in. You leave a message, but they never call back. All they care about is getting you to sign your life away on the dotted line.
Fantastic housing for the price their asking. If you enjoy an energetic environment and dont want to continue dealing with Dorm life this is the place for you. There is always somthing fun to do on the weekends and most people within the complex get along with each other well. The employees at the front desk are extremely forgiving of fines and expect college students to act like college students. The only complaints Ive heard from people is that there own roommates are irresponsible and cause both parties to have to pay fines. You wont regret moving here
DO NOT LIVE HERE. One of the main reasons I choose to live here was the scenery and gated community aspect. BUT DO NOT BE FOOLED. This place is a complete joke, ran by college students and maybe 2 adults. There are instances where eggs are thrown at my neighbors door, people stealing door mats and wreaths, glass bottles everywhere, and much more. If you want to live with a bunch of animals then this is the perfect place for you. They say they have security but no one is there when people come and trash the place. My personal vehicle has been messed up due to the pranks that go on around here. These people do not care about what happens to their residents and you literally pay so much money and they take advantage of the fact that most of these kids have mommy and daddy to pay for everything so they charge unnecessary fees and expect you to pay. Every time I had a problem, Miss Emily would give me the hardest time, and she never takes her job seriously. These people are UNPROFESSIONAL and I am moving out as soon as my lease it up.
Had a great time yesterday at Carolina cove apartments thanks to the help of Evan Olsen he’s been a huge help to me and helping find an apartment for when I go to school this upcoming spring my mother and I appreciate all his help and the way he took care of us the whole entire time
I have had a positive experience since I began living here. The management has always been attentive to anything I have needed and they truly helped me get out of a bad living situation that came up out of no where. They made sure myself and my sweet dog Clover were safe and happy. I could not be more thankful for them helping me get into a different unit in a timely manner and checking up on me afterwards. I have read some of the other reviews and in all honesty, you can have a negative experience anywhere. Bad things happen such as crime, theft, partying, drug usage everywhere there Is a large college. As an ECU graduate, I saw a lot of bad things go on in various student housing complexes and it can happen anywhere. Just throwing that out there!
Make sure you take your shoes off before stepping on your carpet. Or when you move out you’ll get charged 325 dollars for them to replace it instead of clean it. Probably the worst apartment complex I’ve ever lived in.
They dont not help with just about anything that costs them money. In fact there is a very large hole in the fence that they dont bother fixing. What a nice gated community. I urge anyone to not go here.
After having some struggles with this place in the beginning and taking a week to get hot water the place isn’t that bad the 24 hour gym is very nice staff is always nice.
Hi, Im a mother of 5 children and as a mother Im very protective of my children. My oldest daughter had graduated from high school and she will be living here in August and I can say this is the far most best place I seen for my child and I can say I feel that she will be safe and ok. She has everything she need as far as in able to study and force on her class. I believe every parent want to make sure there children are some were safe and less worry. I do like that they have college student who work there because they can relate and understand one another and by the way what you see on the picture of there cover and brochure is exactly what you see it amazing and I have been to place that there environment doesnt line up with what they show . Carolina Cove Thank for your professional and courtesy when my daughter and I was there.. Have a pleasant day. I hope this help another parent out I completely understand
Evan and Angel are so amazing!! They have been very helpful and kind since I moved in!
I loved at Carolina Cove for 2 years. When I first moved in I was excited because it was new and I had a good view from my apartment of the pool. The first couple of weeks werent bad but then when everyone finally moved in, it was AWFUL. Management is a joke. I think the 2 years I lived there we had 3 different managers. I called over 5 times and left a message over a period of 2 weeks trying to get in touch with management. NEVER a phone call retuned. The girls that work up front as receptionist are a JOKE. They have no clue whats going on and will just tell you random stuff to get you out of the office. When you ask to speak to management everyone runs around like a chicken with its head cut off. Dont expect any timely returned phone calls, valuable information, or a clean living space. My neighbors were awful and constantly left their trash outside to rot on their balcony or outside of their door. When I complained nothing was done. Someone broke glass on the landing I lived on and I called to let them know at the office....no response and 2 weeks later I swept the glass off myself. Carolina cove doesnt follow up with anything. Nobody cleans up their dog poop and there is always trash and glass everywhere. During the summer the pool gets closed at least 4 times a month because people break glass in the pool. No enforcement of rules. So basically if you want to live somewhere that is run efficiently, feels safe, and has good management; DO NOT LIVE AT CAROLINA COVE APARTMENTS.
Clean, apartments are nice, fairly sized. Grounds are well kept.
Every day I regret choosing aspire, it is overpriced and all of the facilities are inconvenient and overcrowded. Don’t live here
I love this place super nice guys in the office always smilingThank you Aspire for this wonderful year im going to miss it !
ABSOLUTELY NOT. It doesnt even deserve ONE star. These last two years have been terrible. It has done absolutely nothing for me but make me want to get out of student living even faster. Please go spend a little more money and live anywhere but here. You will not regret it. The entire year I have been in this specific unit, the dishwasher hasnt been fixed. Weve called it in multiple times. It took 4 days for the smoke alarms to have the batteries replaced because they didnt hear it when they came to check it out - I dont just keep a ladder stashed in my belongings to reach the vaulted ceilings otherwise I would have done it myself. Heres a thought - just change them when it gets mentioned the first time and you wont have to return. There are no security cameras. Just a worthless gate that people run into to break it that is supposed to deem it a secured property. Your visitors wont have a place to park, and if theyre from out of town - you might as well hope you can find a visitor spot at Mill Creek because Carolina Cove definitely wont have any available. Dont get me started about rent not being prorated for the last month you live here.. thats a sorry way to get a little extra money. This place is awful and I cannot wait to get out. Ill forever be sorry that I put my parents through dealing with this place as well as my own self.
The staff rarely answers phone calls or emails, it takes a very long time to get anything fixed. Almost everyone I have spoken with who lives here now (myself included) was told that the carpet would be replaced before they moved in, not one of them actually had new carpet. Some of them that have moved out have had steep prices for repairs, I highly suggest taking pictures to document the state of your apartment. I want to move but I cant afford to get out of my lease.
Beautiful units, incredible amenities and the best people work here! 💜
Carolina Cove is a joke! Ive lived here for a year and within that year my dishwasher hasnt been fixed, they never cleaned the carpet when I moved in, my stove burners are bad and set the fire alarm off every time you use them and to set it off they let the people around here treat it like crap! Walking out of my apartment to trash laying out by the door. I had to called the law not once but four times in one night due to the egging of the doors. I would not stay at Carolina Cove. Please, there are nicer places around Wilmington. Do not waste your money!
While visiting the apartment complex, Raquel made sure to answer all of our questions and provided amazing customer service. So glad we had her to help us!
Best apartment in Wilmington. The people in the office are always super kind and helpful!!
Worst apartment living experience I’ve had in my life. I’m going to keep it short and simple or else I would be typing all day. The front desk is ran by college kids so any time you call expect an attitude and to be on the phone for ten plus minutes without getting the answer to your question because nobody knows anything. If you want to have a guest over without getting towed you better park in a guest parking spot to hold it for them because there’s only like fifteen of those in the entire parking lot. Oh yeah don’t let the “gated community” fool you, the gates are open more than they are closed and half of the fences around the perimeter are torn down from people jumping over them and nobody fixing them. Tons of hidden fees and the maintenance guys have no clue what they are doing and will leave you telling you the problem is fixed but it’s still the same exact way it was. I have never had to write a review about a apartment complex but I just wanted to give you guys a fair warning, do not live here.
For Parents: LOOK ELSEWHERE!! My son has lived at Carolina Cove since August 2015, and it has not been a good experience. At the time of move in, the apartment was filthy...carpet stains and burns, the A/C air return and filter were thickly caked with dust, one of the bathroom floors was dirty, another bathroom floor vinyl was completely worn of its original pattern, one bedroom had pet hair and dirt all along the floor boards. It took weeks for the carpet to be replaced, and the workers showed up unannounced and unscheduled when my son was out of town. One of his roommates (a 21 y/o girl) was panicked to be there alone with the workmen.Parking is a continual issue. The community is gated so theoretically there should be enough parking for the tenants. My son works late into the night, and cant park anywhere near his building when he returns from work. The Wi-Fi is terrible, according to my son. Hes unable to download things he needs to download. We have very reasonable expectations, and this place has NOT been a good experience. It is NOT as advertised and NOT worth the price!!!My older son has lived in multiple student rental / apartment rental situations, ALL of which were hands-down better than Carolina Cove. We will be looking elsewhere for next year.
My overall experience with Carolina cove/Aspire 349 is not good. But Evan and Angel in the office were always so nice. They tried their best to help me. I wont be renewing because of the price getting too high. Its too expensive for only your bedroom and stuff. Seems like they spend too much money on giving out free food and merch when they could either charge less or use the money wisely. Im not a student but I am 22 years old, and I feel like I live with high school students. The pool and location is great though. I enjoy the pool area the most, but thats only three months you can do that.
My time here when it was the carolina cove was the worst experience of my life. there is nothing on this planet i would recommend less
Staff was amazing, and always kind. But just always loud partys going on. But a beautiful place to live.
Carolina Cove is the worst! Plan on paying an extra 50-150 every month on hidden fees. Management works in a non timely fashion. We put in some service repairs and had to ask multiple times before someone finally came. Once you sign the lease, you must pay 3 months rent in advance to get out($2400). Wilmington is beautiful, dont waste your time stressing out living at Wilmingtons best hideaway. One last thing, dont invite any non residents over, chances are all of the few visitor spots are taken, park anywhere else, youre 100% getting towed within the hour, yet, management cant do theyre jobs.
Staff is super helpful. Chill place for students. My random roomates were chill af.
Had a lot of mix ups moving in because of the management change but Raquel continued to go out of her way to make sure I was able to move in on the right date and that my apartment was ready to be moved into.
Loved living here! Great Management Staff
Whenever Carolina Cove was built, I was so excited! I begged my boyfriend to pay the extra x amount of dollars a month a normal apartment complex would cost to be treated the way we should in a new complex. Unfortunately I was wrong. We have had the worst stay here and will not be renewing our lease. Everything from, the gates only really working whenever they want, and the leasing office telling us there is nothing they can do about it, to bottles being smashed outside my door and them not cleaning it because cleaning is gone for the day, to the grills not only not being filled with propane, but the starter is missing so you cant just start it and it is very very dirty and there is no brush, to on sunny days they close the pool because the kids the night before trashed it, to people yelling and screaming at early hours in the morning around the complex. I would not recommend this complex to anyone- especially for how much it is priced, your amenities should work. The front desk is not helpful at all, whenever I call, they never call me back.
Do not move in here! The apartment was disgusting when I moved in, they never replaced the carpet in my room and waited over a month to replace the carpet in the living area. The whole place is disgusting (trash bags everywhere) and it is noisy 24/7. I have had many problems with them charging me fees that I do NOT owe (such as pet fees even though I dont have one) and they never notified me of a bounced check until two months after. The staff is lazy and disorganized and will never help or answer your questions. You will find much better places for the same price or lower (as their leases are increasing in price) in Wilmington, keep looking and avoid this experience that I have had to deal with.
