I came in to get my nails done on Sunday. Here is a full honest review. First I spoke with one of their receptionists and made an appointment that required a deposit, which I made. When I came in to get my nails done they gave me someone who was not confident enough to complete my look, which was a simple gel set with rhinestones on both middle fingers. She told me that the guy who does that was not here. She did end up doing it, though I was not elated with what she did I accepted as I had to leave for vacation the very next morning, and tipped. When it was time to close out I was charged the full price even though I made a deposit and didn’t realize until I made it to my car. I returned to the store and they fixed this mistake. My issue is that when I went on vacation the following day 3 stones had already fallen off. I Instantly messaged them and attached pictures and they said that I could come in to get it fixed when I returned. When I came in to get it fixed I was questioned on when and where my appointment was and who did my nails, and told to return 30 minutes later.30 minutes later when I returned no one acknowledged me, and no one attempted to fix my nails. While I understand the shop may be busy, this is unacceptable customer service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this salon. There is no reason that a $75 full set should have issues less than a week after getting it done. In addition, every nail-tech should be capable of completing a basic set with a few rhinestones. I will attach pictures. Clearly they don’t value their clientele. Please take your money elsewhere. Sitting here as I have been writing this review 15 min. later and still no acknowledgement.
Scheduled an appointment.. that is the only way they are taking customers now. When you walk in they make you wash your hands. Each station had a glass between seats and when I came in it was only 8 people total. 4 guest and 4 technicians. The place is clean, the prices are responsible. Only reason I gave them a 4 star is because the lady cut my big toe when doing my cuticles.
Overpriced mediocre nail jobs. Nail tech charges 75 as starting price I went to him twice and was charged 150$ each time (just for nails not with pedi included) and left unsatisfactory both times. I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to friends and family. The place is clean, staff friendly and efficient, but they do regulate quality work and charge topnotch dollars.
I went into this location for a pedicure and a polish color change on my hands. Lily charged me $90…… i choose a $37 pedicure with two acrylic toes. Even if she charged $60 why would they charge $30 to change the color on your nails. It wasn’t a manicure. She didn’t cut down my nails. She didn’t file or shape them. Just simply removed the polish and added a new gel coat. This place does mediocre work and completely over priced. Definitely check other places before coming here otherwise they will run you a good $75 easy for something you could’ve paid your friend to do.
Lili is the name of the young lady who did my eyebrow. I specifically told her to do clean up the new grow of hair following the shape. Instead, she did the opposite and removed my eyebrow hair and messed it up. When I told her that she did it wrong, her response was rude and unprofessional. This place is too expensive to get this kind of service.
Andy gave me the best pedicure of my life!!! I love Lilys manicures! JD is a beast with the nail art!!! JD has exclusive clientele, good luck getting an appointment. He has a VIP List for his clients, no walk ins.
The amount of professionalism and attention provided to myself and my daughter were above and beyond anything I had imagined. This shop does amazing work!! They have so many options and are patient. This is the best spot in NE DC Yall!! Dakota nails are the best!!!
Several broken nails within 1 week do not go to the girl with lavender hair charged $60 for a fill-in with nothing in the nails just plain and did nothing deliver I did not see the purpose of returning to have them re-done when they should have at least been done correctly initially. The nails completely lifted within 5 days.
Lilly gave me the best dip manicure of my life. So sweet and attentive.
My first visit. Calm environment and friendly service. I look forward to returning.
Great nail salon, by far the best I’ve been 2. Always on time, great customer service, a great vibe and very professional. I love the owner, takes care of me every time. The best
We made an appointment. I was told that I could only receive plain color without any designs because I do not wear acrylic nails. My partner was charged $30 for a polish change with NO manicure. When she asked about the price the owner was rude and admitted that he overcharges customers because the rent in the area is too expensive.**His response is also ridiculous. If I was yelling and upset about the price BEFORE I received services why would we both still have gotten our nails done and paid for the services? I even tipped my manicurist as she herself was nice. The owner is rude and unprofessional and it trickles down to some of the staff.
I called so many times today, it took for ever for them to answer the phone, I was told to come in….which I did, I was asked what I needed to have done I told the lady who great me when I first walked in, however when she finished with my pedicure she asked if I wanted a manicure I told yes why not at all this another customer walked in and the lady who was doing my pedicure told me that she did not have the time to do my manicure because her customer was there. This is not professional at all.
Jonathan and the staff at Dakota Nail Spa have been extremely professional and do a fantastic job! Jonathans nail designs are very creative, and the pedicures are very relaxing. I have been a regular customer for several months and they are always accommodating with my schedule.
Jonathan and staff every professional and friendly. My technician Mai is very creative and I am always happy with the service.
I have been attending Dakota Nails since they opened. The staff is professional and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I HIGHLY recommend Dakota Nails as a regular addition to your self care routine for 2021!!!
I am an advocate and stickler of customer service and this place would get a 0 if that was a rating. I live less than 5 minutes away, but will not return here. When I walked in, no staff greeted me with a hello, hi, or any words. One lady looked up after 3 minutes and asked me if I had an appointment. I answered her, “No. Do I need to make one?” She looked at me and kept working. No one said anything so I left. Businesses need to realize a person will always remember how you make them feel. I will not patronize a business where I do not even feel appreciated or welcomed. Management needs to be aware of this. Simply say hello or smile and say, “Can I help you, “, or “I’ll be right with you.”
Today was my first time going, Ms.T was the best pedicure technician I’ve ever had! She did not rush at all-which made my time way more relaxing. Covid health factors are definitely placed, with a hand wash, clean utensils, and shields. I felt safe, relaxed, and beautiful. Thank you.
0/10 would NOT recommend.. they can’t do tapered square nails.. my nails were leaning like the tower of pisa... my nail broke after two days and all I did was grab a pack of sheets..
Jonathan is great! He really takes his time when he does your nails and has amazing designs and you can tell that he enjoys doing the artwork that goes into the intricate designs. He is also very honest about wait times which I appreciate. I stopped going to many nail salons who would say the wait was only ten minutes but left me waiting for a long time. I cannot recommend him enough!
I was really excited to go to this location as it was new and clean. I saw that you had to make an appointment so I called to make one. Once I walked in I was greeted but I didn’t understand nor hear the question I was asked. I thought they were talking about my mask and I was confused. The response was “I’m asking about your nails. This is a nail salon right? You see the sign outside. You’re in a nail salon.” I was struck back but I understand people can have bad days and I’ve been in customer service all my life. So I was directed to wash my hands and to sit with the nail tech. All is well until it took 2 hours to get my nails done. Usually other locations have them done more precise and a tad bit less time. Nail tech was nice but I’m rating more on communication/customer service and the quality of nails. It’s only been a week and my SNS dip nails are breaking off. I’m not new to SNS and I know they’re not supposed to fall apart after a week. The price charged was not worth the outcome I received. After experiencing over 30 nail places in my lifetime, this salon isn’t on my preferred list. I apologize but I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Always Great Work.... in everything!!
The salon is new and very clean. Pedicure was great. The tech took time with the foot and leg massage, which I appreciated. My tech was not the most experienced and I had to guide her a bit with the polish technique (I wanted glittery toe nails) but she was very pleasant, polite and worked hard to make sure I was satisfied. Wonderful customer service. I will be back!5 stars for cleanliness and customer service4 stars for quality/look of nails and sanitation (sterilized tools but reused nail file)
Ive been coming to this shop since it opened and have always received great customer service and quality services. I dont mind the changes that have been implemented since Covid, it actually makes things alot smoother. Making an appointment for services is great, it allows for more personalized attention while being serviced. My mom and daughters come here too and we all love the shop and the technicians. They know us by name. I know alot of people may come in for an impromptu service but due to restrictions now, its hard to accommodate. You honestly can not get upset with the shop or its techs for adhering to new health guidelines and restrictions. I know when Im getting serviced by JD, he always greets customers as they come in the door. The shop is always clean, plenty of parking for a shop in DC and the prices are expected for the quality. My nails and feet are always on point. Thank you Dakota Nails Spa.. see you again soon.
Tried to go for the first time and called ahead to make an appointment. 10 min before the appointment they called to push the appointment back a half hour. I was hoping to use this place regularly but poor scheduling will force me to go somewhere else.
Ive been going To this location ever since they open and let me tell you I am completely satisfied. Jonathan is a wonderful Nail Tech he goes above and beyond and gets very creative when at times I do not know what type of design I want. He is very professional and all the staff are very friendly and professional as well. Ive gotten gel, SNS and acrylics, And let me tell you theyve last a while I cook and clean at home wash dishes with bare hands and my nails dont come off, my gel stays intact just like SNS. Overall I am very satisfied also another very important factor is the hygiene all of their equipment is disinfected which is something that I like because I went to another nail salon that I used to go to a lot and they gave me a toenail fungus so I am very picky when it comes to selecting a place. I will continue to go to Dakota nails and spa because I walk out of there completely satisfied and very happy with my nails.
I am rating Dakota Nail Salon and Spa not on their nail services but more so on their lashes. If you go to this salon DO NOT GET YOUR LASHES DONE! I have only had these lashes on for a day and immediately the lashes began to fall out and irritate my eyes. I asked the technician how to remove the lashes and he simply stated using baby oil or coconut oil would remove them without a hassle. So here I am, a hour later, still trying to remove the lashes from my eyes. As I am gently rubbing the baby oil on my eyes and trying to remove the lashes from my eyes, pieces and pieces of my lashes have fallen out. This was my first experience with lashes and will certainly be my last, as I won’t have any lashes left for them to glue.
I love going to Dakota Nail Spa. I normally get my mani/pedi with Kiwi; she always does an excellent job. The spa manager Jonathan is very courteous and remembers clients by name. The location is clean and very well organized. The prices are decent for the quality of work and for the location. Excellent nail spa!
New & shiny but prices are above average. They charge 4 callus remover treatment! Who does that?! Hear owner is some rich lady who doesnt care theyre gouging folks. I hope it gets better.
Ive had three different techs and they Were ALL Great! I love that! Esp Mai
My new favorite salon! The staff are friendly, the salon is clean, and they have a great selection of colors. My gel manicure lasted longer than usual and my pedicure did too!
Great service.
I went in there with no nails on & left with no nails on but i was getting my nails done the whole 2/3 hours there.
Lin was very friendly and nice. 3 weeks later my dip powder nails are still fresh and on fleek! ♥️♥️
Love love this place! And very sanitized!
Love love loveeeeeeeee this place..Jonathan did myNails about two weeks ago and I’m still getting compliments on them..I will be back for sure in about a week lol..The place is so clean and welcoming
Loved it, great experience and professional team and very nice facilities
They do a high quality job. The fumes are not over powering, clean comfortable atmosphere at fair price.
Took my mom and wife in for ped+mani . They both love it . Love this brand new salon . Welcome to the neighborhood and of course I’ll be back .
Prices are WAYYYY overpriced!! No thank you.
Best mani/pedi Ive had in awhile. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!
I came in to get the SNS powder ($45). The staff was very friendly and my appointment started on time. However, after only 2 days 3 of my natural nails have broken. The products used suck big time. I’ll be returning to my usual nail salon to fix them.
Ill just get straight to the point here. Starting with my gel mani its not very neat around the cuticle area and looks a bit uneven. At this point I have yet to have had an exceptional gel mani so Ill let it pass. My real concern is with the pedi. I noticed after I got home my toe was a bit sore and upon closer inspection I can see the nail tech cut my cuticle and it bled a bit. A day later and its more sore and red looking. Im keeping my fingers crossed the instruments were truly sterilized and no harm will result from this cut. Ive never had this happen before so it is kind of upsetting. The nail tech may not have intended to cause a cut but it is nonetheless a safety concern for me so unfortunately I will not being returning.
Good prices and nice staff
The salon is over priced and the nail techs are not that good if Im paying those prices then I want better quality work done
Great atmosphere, wonderful custom service.
Space, decor, products, professionalism and comfort.
First time and I will go back for my monthly Pedicure!
Clean and good nail techs
Clean nail shop
