Very helpful and compassionate during a very emotional time. My 14 year old Pom had a recent history of cardiopulmonary disease and went down hill very quickly late in the evening. VCA Valley was extremely helpful with getting her in, helping me through a very sad time (moderate hysterics) and being very compassionate with end of life care. The techs and DRs were very thorough and kind. My only negative feedback would be the phone system was super frustrating to navigate and I got disconnected while trying to use maps to navigate to the location being new to the area. Keep calling, they were very nice and extremely helpful once I got them on the phone.
This is the most unprofessional, uncaring, unsympathetic business I have been to. I am from a smaller town (moved here recently) and I was appalled on how they treated me. I will continue to tell as many people as I can NOT to go here. My cat passed away as we handed her over and David didnt care. I was balling (she was attacked by a dog). I was in such a rush to get her there (after hours) that I forgot my wallet. (I dont even think my shoes were matching). They refused to assist her because I didnt have my wallet and they couldnt swipe my cc first. David told me that they were just like a human hospital and wont do it for free. Im sorry - no one asked for anything to be free. I was in panic mode and rushed her to the vet hospital. And David- if you ever have to go to the hospital in an emergency and forget your wallet, I can guarantee they will NOT turn you away or refuse to help you. You are definitely in the wrong business. She was a life, she needed help. That is what those people go to school for and study! I couldnt believe it. I was heartbroken and all they wanted was to fill out paperwork (for what I assume was for her cremation since they didnt do anything to assist her. At one point David said you can take your dead cat back. So I did. And I found another place that showed care and compassion and helped me through that process. Do you know what if feels like to have some say that and give you back your dead cat? Its awful, I wouldnt wish it on anyone.
We have had a terrible past year with our 3 dogs pictured. VCA has been our choice for all 3 in our emergency situations. We live in Vail and this Emergency hospital is the quickest and most convenient for us. In December our Terrier mix Buddy got into a tiff with our bloodhound over food. There was no blood, but he lost the use of his back legs. Scared to death, we called and told VCA we were on our way. They took him back immediately, quoted us for Xrays and got them done quickly. It appeared that he had a spinal injury but needed to see the deep tissues and wanted to send us to a specialist who could do the MRI and surgery if needed. They made all the arrangements to get him transferred over there that night (because these things ALWAYS happen at night!) so all we had to do was drive him over there. Our fear was that his spinal cord was damaged so severely that he would die. Luckily the specialist found that it was a ruptured disk that would heal on its own. The staff was so gentle and caring with Buddy and explained everything to us before they did it and answered all of our questions. They were quick to get us to the specialty place because if surgery was needed, time was of the essence! He can walk!In May, our 13 year old basset hound, Clarabelle woke up lethargic, wouldnt move easily, was breathing heavily, nauseous, and had her head hanging into her water bowl. Again, we rushed her in and they took her right away. They ran blood tests and immediately found out her white blood cell count was elevated. Being that shes an old girl, we didnt want to stress her out too much so when they asked if they could do xrays, we said no and asked what their suggested treatment would be. They gave her IV fluids, pain medication, and nausea medication and watched her for a few hours. They sent us home with a round of heavy antibiotics and pain and nausea medications. We observed her for the week and got extremely worried when she was refusing to eat the chicken and rice we were giving her. (turns out she doesnt like rice!) The day after she finished her antibiotics, she was 100% better and has been back to her old stubborn, demanding self!Three nights ago our 3 year old bloodhound Holly had a hacking cough, was shaking, lethargic, wouldnt eat anything, and hacked up some blood tinged mucus. Bloodhounds are prone to stomach twisting and getting them to the emergency room for treatment, and sometimes surgery, is the only way to save them. Again, we called on our way and they met us with a team of staff at the emergency room door to take her in. She was scared so my husband had to carry her in. They had an estimate for x-rays within minutes of us getting there and got them done quickly. They noticed she was low on oxygen so they started her on oxygen and put a catheter in so they could give her any meds or fluids. The x-rays showed a huge mass of something in her left lung and her lungs pulling away from her chest. Not knowing what it was, they did an ultrasound to see if it was fluid or tissue. We hoped it was a simple infection or even valley fever. They kept her overnight and asked if they could do a CT scan. Her oxygen level was dropping with oxygen treatment. In the CT scan they noticed her lung had twisted - its called lung torsion. The doctors told us that her lung was dying and she needed surgery immediately. This condition is so rare that only a specialist can do it. They got us to the specialty emergency center and again made all the arrangements so we just had to take her there. The surgeon we spoke with praised VCA for acting so quickly and finding the problem so quickly. Apparently it usually takes days to find this issue and the lungs get worse and make the surgery harder for the doctor and harder on the dog. If we had left it for another day, Holly would have probably gone into respiratory failure and died. She is recovering at the hospital now. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!
I want to take a moment to thank everyone at vca. Its with great sadness and tears I write this review. My love for animals, all animals knows no bounds. My wifes employee found kittens on one of their job sites. One was critically injured at only 1 week old. The other was ok. We live in Oro Valley and not one single lousy veterinarian hospital would take a a minute to check out this dying kitten. Im a strong man and I broke down. I never encountered so many that cared so little. But the entire staff I encountered at vca was compassionate, caring and Im sooooo thankful for the humanity they showed us and this poor tiny little life that was under their care, and humanely euthanized. Im sobbing as I write this. Thank you so much. Ill never forget this.
They took such good care of my kitty!! The staff is phenomenal. The cost was VERY reasonable considering it was a Sunday. I dont think Ill take my kitties anywhere else.
There aren’t words to describe how thoughtful and caring each & every single person I came into contact with at VCA was. My 10 1/2 year old cat Mufasa, unexpectedly, became ill and couldn’t breathe one day. I brought him urgently and they immediately took him in. I got a call with an update within a few minutes. He stayed with them for a few days, as he could not be released due to oxygen demands. While he was there, I was sent pictures of him. He was my one and only boy, so to feel the true compassion VCA gave made all the difference. I spoke with multiple doctors and assistants and each one was incredible. I can’t say enough. I’m so grateful to have had them during such a saddening and difficult time.
Pet is dying.. welp to bad they only care about money. If you dont have a grand up front your loved pet is hopeless. Disgusting. Dont be a vet if you only care about the money.
I have a very sick cat. Hasn’t eaten or drank much in the last week and has lost a ton of weight.I stayed on hold for more than 38 minutes until they just disconnected me. The screenshot was about five minutes before they disconnected me. If they didn’t want to see my cat, they should have been professional enough to say so. Found a place on La Canada that agreed to see her in 2 1/2 hours. don’t bother with these people. Very sad.
Im very grateful Dr. Ash Chirco and team (thank you vet techs!!-David I think it was was fantastic too) were able to save Whiskeys life when he got a blockage. I was very comforted in knowing Dr. Chirco is experienced in ferrets. This VCA location was also great when I found a stray cat earlier in the year, too.
This place makes me sick to my stomach and want to cry. Overpriced, selfish, carless, and only money hungry. If you have a dying pet and are financially struggling dont bring them here. They will let your pet die if you dont give them a grand.I have taken my dog here for his pancreatitis emergencies and have had to bring him back multiple times because they didnt take the time to see what works and what doesnt. Not to mention having to pay over a grand every visit and them not even having the smallest amount of empathy for anyones financial situation or if the dog will die because of it. Money hungry people. It makes me sick to my stomach 💔
If every business was run this way, wed all be happier people. Each time I needed something-from taking in my puppies on a Sunday night, to checking if Id left my glasses at the curb, to sending me a detailed invoice when requested, they were efficient, kind and straightforward. Thank you!
At 8:30 PM, my 3 yr. old Scottie was bleeding profusely from her left nostril. I couldnt get it to stop after 30 min.I called 3 emergency vet clinics that advised me she should see a Vet, but they were at capacity & I should call another emergency clinic. Then I called VCA Valley. The young man told me to hold a cold compress on her muzzle for 5 minutes to constrict the blood vessels. I asked what if that didnt stop it . He said they were close to capacity but gave me hope.I did what he said & it slowed down then stopped.VCA Valley helped me fix the problem not brush me off like the others. Ill forever be in you debt. Thank you.
I have used VCA as a primary vet and for their emergency services. Personally, I feel they are best used in an emergency, as their pricing is a bit high for primary veterinary services. The care my animals have received here has been excellent. I recently had to take my cat in while he was having a seizure. They were very quick to respond, up-front about cost, and took great care of my kitty. They kept in contact the whole time he was with them and kept me updated on his condition and results of tests they did. The advice I received upon his discharge was very helpful. I feel confident the quality of care received was top-notch, and the techs and vets I spoke to were very empathetic, knowledgeable, and clearly cared a lot about what they were doing.
My 14 year old dog was hit by a car and had a fractured pelvis, a large wound on his stomach and fluid building up in his leg. I was initially referred to SAV and they patched him up but a week later he developed necrosis in the wound and when I tried to take him back they couldnt take him so I took him to VCA and I am happy I did. It was doubtful whether they could operate because the wound was so large but Dr Mcrady and her team did a wonderful job of stitching him back together. Its been 6 long weeks of care and rehabilitation and lots of $$$ but it was definitely worth it to see him wag his tail again. All the staff are great and a special shout out to Dr Morris who literally saved his life by giving him a second chance when we thought we had to euthanize. A big heartfelt thank you to everyone at VCA you are awesome!
Jim started vomiting blood on Tuesday night. I rushed him in to VCA early Weds morning. I was immediately impressed with VCAs responsiveness from the first phone call.Once I arrived, I called and they checked me in. Then a tech called me to go over everything. He made me feel comfortableJim went in to the ER and then Dr Brown, the ER Vet called and we had a long phone conversation going over her findings and treatment plan. Dr Brown was patient with all my questions. After xrays and blood panel, wbc was super high and he was dehydrated so they kept him in hospital with iv fluids and iv antibiotics. At hospital, his tech Maddie, Dr Morris, and Dr Perino were all super responsive and communicative and answered all my many questions patiently even though I knew they were super busy. He had a whole team and I felt like they truly cared about him.Dr Perino and Dr Chirco operated on stones in his bladder and Jim is now resting comfortably at home.Overall, my experience was absolutely wonderful. Everyone I spoke to was professional, communicative, caring and polite. Maddie, the tech and vets I worked with were amazing!
Vet was extremely kind and took the time to answer all of our questions! They were thorough and provided us with a ton of resource.
Not sure what’s going on with VCA lately. I’ve been taking all of my pets here for years and have had amazing experiences in the past, however, the last couple of times I’ve called it seems inconvenient for them to help me. The wait times are insane. I called at 5:30am this morning about bringing my dog in and the girl in the phone sounded bored and acted like she wasn’t listening at all when I told her the issue and asked me to repeat myself several times then told me to “call back at 8 because they were doing shift change”. Maybe she didn’t think my issue was enough of an emergency?I ended up calling another vet and being seen immediately. I think I’ll end up using this new vet exclusively in the future.
I have been to this clinic 3 times and everything Ive been over charged for things I declined and they make you pay prior to examining the bill and what Im being charged for. I took my boy tothem after he had already died and was charged 150 for euthanasia. I was refunded after I had a chance to see the bill after I paid. My little baby was severely sick and after 7 hrs in my car I was told that that I had to pay 1100 for
I can put up with their staff being super rude constantly. I can put up with paying 3x as much for a basic service like spaying (Im okay with paying extra for superior care versus what my pup would have gotten at a low cost spay company...which my dog did NOT get...same level of care...just 3x as much). I can also put up with their staff being money motivated and CONSTANTLY recommending things that I know my dogs dont need (not EVERYTHING requires a valley fever test)....HOWEVER! I draw the line at them leaving my dogs out in a hot car, on a 109°+ day, for 30+ minutes, without calling me and letting me know they were running late, or even coming out and offering my dogs water. Putting my dogs in a dangerous situation because of their neglect is NOT okay! And the solution could have been really easy for them, which was take my dogs inside and put them in a holding room until they were ready to see them. Or at least give me a heads up and let me know that they were running 30+ minutes behind (so I could have rescheduled)... But instead they acted like I was being so rude for asking if they were actually going to come out and get my dogs after 30 minutes of me waiting in the car with them. And no car on the market has an AC will continue to run cold after sitting idly by for 30 minutes in a parking lot in full sun. And then when I called them to tell them that this was extremely rude of them, they didnt even offer an apology. So yeah, dont go to this vet.
On June 14, I took my dog panda to the emergency room. She was having bloody diarrhea and was extremely weak. We called from outside and they told me that because she had already seen a vet earlier in the day and had been prescribed medication for vomiting that they recommended to wait until morning to take her to her vet again because they had a 5 hr wait. We had driven an hour and a half to get there . She died on the way back. She was only 6 years old. She was my best friend. I dont know if I should have insisted or what I should have done morebut she didnt deserve to be not be attended. I dont know what to do now.
We took our kitten here after he managed to hide in the washer. This was the nearest emergency vet open on the weekend and we were in a hurry with a wet, stressed little cat. They were quick to evaluate him and while we did have to wait for a couple of hours, the staff was kind and courteous in all of our interactions. This was a busy emergency department, and they continue to take COVID precautions, minimizing contact wherever possible. We were pleased with the experience and best of all, were able to take our little guy home that night.
I brought my 6 week puppy here after she was refusing to eat and becoming lethargic and she ended up being hospitalized for a couple nights. Dr. Wesley took a lot of time preparing us for the best and worst cases and letting us know all the possibilities while we were still figuring out what was wrong. Dr. Chirco was another doctor we spoke to a lot and he updated us at the end of each shift he worked. I called around midnight one of the nights and the nurse was happy to give me an update on Olive. The next night, another nurse sent me a picture of her since we couldnt visit which really helped calm our nerves. This was all a few months ago, and our sweet pup is better than ever! We appreciate all the hard work and the time everyone spent helping to get her better! Im a nurse, and I can confidently say this animal hospital is run much smoother than my human hospital!
I have been here many times at this point. Once for my dog who got into the trash and needed surgery. They were very understanding and answered all my questions and reassured me when it came to my concerns. I also have some guineas pigs and in my case petco sold one of a male instead of female and our two females got pregnant. They have been understanding and helpful with that as well. Unfortunately since our girls were older when they got pregnant some of the babies did not make it through and VCA has been generous and understanding about the whole thing.
I am very disappointed with vca. I brought my 24 week puppy under my vets instructions to get her stomach pumped after she ate a poisoned animal. At first they turned her away claiming it was not a medical emergency, my vet then had to call to convince them to let her be seen, once she was they said they wanted to keep her overnight and it would cost 2500 and needed 80 percent, since all this happened during the weekend i wasnt able to access the funds until Monday, i offered proof that i had the funds being transferred but they refused, when i asked if i were to keep her there until monday so i can just pay them Monday, they said theyd report my puppy as abandoned. The lack of compassion and professionalism at this hospital is unbelievable. *update* I emailed you as instructed by your reply its been a week since with no reply.
I am truly disappointed with VCA. I had an emergency w my dog and i 100% get that everyone is short staffed, but the lack of empathy and compassion from them will be the reason i never go back. The receptionist was absolutely rude - apparently she needed approval from the doctor to make a future appointment for my dog who was REFERRED to go to the hospital and made this one matter the biggest inconvenience of my life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart VCA Valley Animal Hospital for the care of my beloved King. Your staff made an unbearable tragedy a little more bearable and helped me make the best choice for my baby and myself after our horrible accident. I am forever indebted to you and your staff. Best animal Hospital💝 I can not even express my gratitude in words. Thank you thank you thank you.
My family had to make the hard decision to put our baby down and we are so thankful for VCA . They were so helpful on short notice . We appreciate the kindness and recommend them to anyone needing a good vet !
I had the unfortunate responsibility of bringing in my pet rat to be euthanized. I believe the woman who answered said her name was Alyssa. She was so INCREDIBLY kind, compassionate and soft with me. Will never forget that phone call.
I had a great experience with VCA. My kitten needed medical attention and Dr. Wesley and her technician Andrea took great care of her and kept me updated through the whole process, despite it being a drop-off appointment. I would recommend Dr. Wesley to anyone and everyone, for she is extremely knowledgable and personable. I also want to point out that the reception staff was also very professional and kind over the phone.
Ive been with this group for years. They have done a terrific job taking care of my many rescue animals. I appreciate how responsive they are even when there is a problem. Im gonna stick with them. Thank you
I had brought my boy in for an emergency surgery a couple of years back and the staff then was truely amazing. I had to bring him back a week ago to be put to rest and the vet that came into the room remembered him! I can only imagine how many pets come in and she remembered what a good patient he was. She cuddled him with me as he took his last breaths. I can not put into words how wonderful everyone at VCA is. I thought the price was high when I first visited but after looking into how much even normal vets office charge they really are worth every penny spent there. I will continue to bring my fur babies here and would highly recommend them to anyone who asked.
I just wanted to give a shout out to Dr.Wesley and her crew. To all the vet techs and vet assistants who put in the extra time to see my dog Toby today. Toby had a run in with a bat this morning and needed a rabies booster. He had 72 hours to get the shot or would have to be quarantined at PACC. You guys were completely booked but took the time to squeeze my boy in. Because of you guys Toby gets to stay home and quarantine with us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know this profession is hard and I know how busy everyone is right now so thank you. NOMV
Drove here at 10:45 pm with my dog about to die and they said they are too busy to see her. They suggest me to drive to Phoenix and try somewhere over there. I was literally in the parking lot with my dog dying in the backseat
The VCA staff were so amazing yesterday. Their compassion and love that they should my Romeo during his transition from being with me to being back with God was very heartfelt and a blessing.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Unable to get dog with kennel cough seen. This emergency vet isn’t truly an emergency room. They require appointments otherwise the wait IN YoUR CAR with sick pet is greater than 6 hrs. Never got dog care- went home and had to self treat my dog. Less than desirable result.
Our dear ferret was very sick and the team at Valley Animal Hospital nursed him through with IV fluids, medicine and love. They even let us bring his own bed and let members of the family come visit him! I think that kindness helped as much as their expert treatment! Thank You to the Valley Animal Hospital critical care team and Doctors who saved Mr. Weasley so he could continue bringing smiles to everyone he meets, every day!
I just wish facilities would stop using Covid 19 as excuse. Also most everything is about money. I just dont trust anything anymore. Everyone lies and/or doesnt care. They say they do.~~~ So when I have concerns and especially about money I am treated like a monster.. These places are all a bigger picture.....businesses and the owners bank off of people and their pets. I know some workers really care there and I can tell by how they treat customers. Lastnight I was treated as if I were the problem. My animal is sick and they tell me blood tests take 1 to 2 days. ????!!!?? In an EMERGENCY FACILITY ??? O E TO TWO DAYS? My animal could die! But then theyll say, well you can just bring him back while waiting.....thus charging me more money and I cant see my animal or be there for him.I have had NO assistance on the best to do with my animal while waiting. The young male tech who brought him back to me said NOTHING. Looked at me like I was terrible and left.I have a dark and bad feeling about this place and Im STILL waiting for results. Next time I will go to the other animal hospital.I KNOW they are all very busy but thats life everywhere. I work in medical field but I have no problems being nice and treating people very well and explaining. The workers here are there doing their jobs Im sure but the owners of this place need to change some things especially test result timeliness for urgent care so people might not lose their pets while waiting. Its mostly about the management and ownership of this place. Money always wins over truth and honesty and a good business. Also, on a last mention.....this is one of those places apparently, who write sorry responses to the negative reviews and we can discuss this. One would only hope with blind trust a facility cares as whoever is assigned to skim reviews and make VCA look better.
Extreme wait times. The staff seem friendly but arent very clear about communicating wait times; Example: after waiting 3.5 hours we called for an update for the 2nd time and they said there was still a short wait we asked for clarification on short wait we were told 30-60 more minutes to be seen by the vet. We asked for our animal to be returned because we couldnt wait anymore suddenly the dr was actively looking at our animal. Kind of really wish we had gone anywhere else at this point. Would have appreciated a warning that the wait time to be seen by a vet was going to take several hours when we called before we came. After 4 hours the vet finally does a physical examination and explains that they have no idea beyond what we already knew and they needed to run labs. Why couldnt they have run labs during the first 4 hours so the vet might have a clue whats going on?
Took my dog here last week after noticing she wasnt feeling well. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with severe kidney failure and her odds were not very good. We chose to euthanize her Sunday to put her out of pain and the staff were so caring and compassionate, it definitely made it a little easier putting our sweet dog to sleep. A few days later we got a card from them about the service. Overall as good of an experience as something like this could be. Thank you for helping us get out sweet Roxie out of pain.
My 12 year old pitty conan became very Ill we rushed him to vca and they immediately took him in and cared for him. Unfortunately he had cancer and was not going to make it and we had to put him down, our hearts were broken they were so caring and patient with us. I highly recommend vca they truly care about their patients.
We were passing through on a military move and my oldest dogs health went from not great to omg horrible. Our local friend directed us here (her having no pets herself). We called ahead about 3 hours out and made an appointment with the best rough estimate of time we could. Am hour late they still took him back right away with the way he was acting. After x-rays they wanted to do more tests with what they saw... If your dog is a part of your family like ours is how can you say no? The prices werent ridiculous like I have seen at other places but like any lab tests they arent cheap. But once they find the issue they arent going to charge you for the ones that obvious you wont need. Regardless. The news ended up being heartbreaking and the Doctor and staff was very sensitive to our suffering and soon loss. The cremation being handled and can even be shipped is a huge relief. I am extremely grateful for stopping here for them to take care of my beloved pet, may he rest in peace now with no more pain. Thank you guys for your support, guidance and sensitivity in this matter. ❤️
We were on vacation and discovered that our dog, Hendrix, needed medical attention. The COVID safety measures are aggravating, of course, but we were able to get him admitted and looked at. Once he was admitted, the service was very timely and everybody was so kind. The pricing was more than fair. David was with us from the beginning, and hes a wonderful asset. Cant recommend this place enough.
After my cat fell off my third story balcony, I scooped her up and took her straight to VCA. It was her/my first time there and the vet tech was very professional and helpful. I cant imagine working in place with so much trauma going on. They were all very grounded and helpful. I took Jeff there around shift change so it took a while before the day time doctor could get to her but they kept her stable until she could be seen. After she was seen the doctor called and was very thorough and professional. They recommended an MRI and care, gave her meds, and wished her well. Shes now getting holistic care at Rosemont Vet and on the mend. Im incredibly grateful to VCAs vets and vet techs.
They saved our 2 year old puppys life. We had to bring her in twice one weekend because she had stopped eating and was lethargic. It took some time but they finally diagnosed her as having Addisons disease and worked with us to get her healthy and discharged as soon as was reasonable. I dont know if shed be alive if we had gone somewhere else. The staff was amazing throughout the entire process, even sending us picture updates in the middle of the night. Thank you so much!
I have been to 3 vets in tucson for my guinea pigs, and without a doubt I can say VCA has been the best one. I am thankful they are a 24 hour place even in the midst of covid, cause at 2am, I worried about my guinea pig having a upper respiratory infection and immediately called, and while most places would be closed, VCA was open and very willing to take a look at him as soon as I got there. What I love the most though is that they talked me through options before doing them. While most places would do x rays or give meds right away without asking the owner and then charging them for it, VCA made sure I was aware of my options of x rays and medications and even gave me the cost of what each option would be before doing anything to make sure I was comfortable with it and could afford it. VCA will forever be my go to vet for their respect and kindness towards the owner, and the respect, love, and care for the pet as well. I couldnt thank you guys enough for always being there whenever my pet is in need.
They took my dogs condition seriously and didnt just try to keep telling me there were long waits, like I experienced at other emergency clinics. Excellent coordination the entire time they were examining and running tests on my dog. They truly care about animals and arent just about running a business. Its scary to have to bring your dog in anywhere, but this is the best place to do so.
I hate this place. They killed my dog. Dont take your pet here. Please heed my warning. They dont care about anything but money. They are just negligent and careless. Worst mistake of my life.
Took both of my dogs here for the first time on a Saturday because they were both ill. Doctors and techs were both extremely nice and good with the pups. My male usually needs muzzled because of nerves (I was extra worried about him because we could not come in with him due to covid), and I’m told that they did not need to use the muzzle today. That in itself tells me how good the staff was with him. Wait time was long just like a human ER, but no worries. They did allow us to drop the dogs off so we did not have to sit in the parking lot the whole time.
I love everyone there they took such wonderful care of my Dozer when he was nearly ripped in two. THANK YOU FOR NEVER GIVING up on him. I appreciate and respect you all.❤️❤️❤️
I had an emergency with my dog and everywhere was booked. I decided to try this hospital since they were able to squeeze us in. The tech, I believe her name was Jamie, and the vet that worked with us were absolutely amazing. I couldnt have imagined a better team to help us. I didnt wait long at all for him to be seen and the visit, along with medications and a procedure, didnt break the bank!I couldnt have had a smoother journey today when it came to the VCA. Ill be going back for a follow-up because of their all-around great attitude and kindness.
Thank you, Valley Animal Hospital, for your kindness and empathy towards us and our dear dog Lupo. From the moment we were greeted to the moment the Vet entered the room after giving us our last moments with Lupo, we were treated with care and concern. After a stroke and seizures, we knew it was time to put our beloved 14 year old dog down. VAH was so gentle in progressively giving Lupo a shot to relax him to make the seizures stop, and following up with two more shots before the final goodbye shot. Lupo left us without pain and with peace. We miss him so so much! Thank you again, VAH, for making this process bearable and peaceful for all of us.
Thank you!! Twice!! You have helped us with two dogs. Cj had an embarrassing injury to his backend he is 15 years old terror mix. I thought we were going to lose him but he is back to his old man self. Thank you! And last year my mastiff big guy had a bad rattlesnake bite. He is doing great. Thank you guys for everything. My wallet is much lighter now but it was worth every penny.
Talking to the Doctor Who gave me another price estimate a little bit more and then when they try to charge me it was way more than it was supposed to be. And then I told them to take the meds off because it was 305 down to 205 and I had the exact same work done at my Vet two days before on a different golden retriever and the Same meds and it was 185. I have been going to both veterinarians an emergency vet clinics for 45 years and I have never been lied to Like I was this time. There isAnOther emergency vet clinic On Speedway I have been to before And not only do they not overcharge but they certainly did not lie to me about the price. They reached out to me and I did respond and got a call back and the fact that they cared enough to do that was a definite positive. Melissa who is the person I talk to was terrific and clearly cared about the experience that I had. After being explained a few things I believe I overreacted somewhat and will have no problem Going back there if I need to.
Took deceased little dog in for cremation. Have been standing outside half an hour or more in over 106 degrees dont know how long I can survive. Am elderly.
Had to take my ferret Snowbell here to be put down and it really was a depressing experience. I had previously had an experience with my other ferret Pip being put down and staff that handled me and my family that day showed care and remorse for our loss. However this experience didn’t feel as caring. As we were admitted to a room, my ferret began to twitch and appeared to be having a seizure. The door was locked on one end and when I tried to knock loudly to gather attention, it took about 5-10 minutes before they were able to take her. I wanted more time to say my goodbyes but I just couldn’t bear to see her suffer any longer. The person who took care of us took my Snowbell and quickly took her to the room where they would put her down. I’m not sure if things have changed since our last visit, but my sister and I weren’t able to see and hold her body one more time even after they put her down. The experience was fast and rushed in my opinion and while I’m glad she is no longer suffering, I did not feel as complete as I did when we lost our other ferret and had time to hold his body and process that he was really gone. There was no sorry for your loss or any sympathy that day and a part of me wants to understand that maybe staff was just busy that dayBut Snowbell wasn’t just an animal, she was a dear member of our family and I feel like even if the pet hospital is busy, they should take time to ask the family if they are ready or if they would like to cuddle their pet one more time (even after death) before they are taken away forever. The card we received today seemed like a typical sorry for your loss type deal. I hope this was just a one time unfortunate experience and I hope to never have to go back soon with my other ferrets but I hope that in the future staff will at least try to help families cope with their loss and make sure they are satisfied instead of just rushing them out the door.
I dropped off my baby Tomo who was showing signs of constipation and unproductive cough - two things that never occurred before this week. I was worried that this could be a hairball impaction, which could be an emergency. As it’s an emergency care facility, I was a little nervous about the care he may receive or even the bill that might accumulate from emergency services. The lovely doctors and staff at VCA took care of Tomo, listened to my concerns, and answered thoroughly and with care.If you have a concern about a test, procedure, or treatment, they will speak with you patiently and kindly until you both reach a mutual decision. I did not take them up on all the tests that were recommended as some issues they had found were not emergencies. But the ones I did choose, I was confident that Tomo was given the best care. They take care credit, which is also very important, as the bill can be costly. (Emergency care will always be so much more.) But, again, I don’t think they were trying to make a dollar off of me and I felt ok with paying so much for my cat’s care, as he was given great care. Be prepared for the cost, as any emergency care, human or fuzzy friend, can be great. He ended up just being a little constipated with a cough, which will be addressed at a later date as it’s probably not an emergency. I felt silly but at no point was I spoken down to and Tomo’s symptoms belittled. The doctor who saw Tomo was also willing to talk to me about things I already had at home that may help, and I was educated about their purpose and effectiveness towards the problem. All in all, I went with whatever they felt was best.Additionally, they will follow up with you if you happen to choose outpatient care, which is so appreciated. Thanks VCA for taking care of my baby Tomo.
I wanna thank everyone who helped us, I had called about 10 different places and they knew how bad my dog was doing and they all turned me away, but Valleys response was “Get him here now” they did all they could but in the end we had to say goodbye. They were super supportive and understanding they let my boyfriend and I be there for our Harvey. Thank you for everything.
Sunday September 13th i took my Yorkie to the VCA emergency at 730 am due to dog attack. They quoted me 1500 with a 900 deposit. I had no issue with that. I called them at 11ish to check how she was doing, they hadnt taken her into surgery...they said they had other greater emergency, i didnt question that because i trust they are being truthful. So I called them agin at 4 pm and once again they hadnt taken her is and they failed to communicate with us the delay is her surgery, this is 8 hours after i dropped her off. So finally I receive the call to pic her up at 630. My husband left to get her. They siad shed be ready about 630. Since he wasnt there at exactly 630 i get a call asking what time and how much longer it will be until he arrives. So now my husband is there he calls to let them know and they do not hesitate to ge the remaining amount owed for her care. once they take the payment they place him on hold for an additional 30 minutes once they cam back on line they said sorry for the long hold but we had another emergency. I guess the 6 inch gash in my tiny 8 lbs Yorker wasnt an emergency, they just charged as though it was one. 11 hrs later.
I had to take my beloved pet in to be put down in the middle of the night due to a cluster of seizures it was a hard choice but couldn’t let her suffer when we arrived my Dolce was actively seizing so they rushed her back to get it to stop so we could properly say good bye to her in peace they were so nice and understanding and made her as comfortable as possible and I was able to get her remains cremated and got her back in a timely manner they also sent me a condolences card which I though was very sweet I highly recommended this place was very happy with the service despite the reason we had to be there for they made it so much easier on us and let us take our time saying goodbye.
VCA employees care about each animal they care for. Their customer service is excellent! They explain everything in detail and take time with the pets owner. The extra attention to explanation and keeping you updated on procedures during this COVID time is really appreciated. The doctors are excellent as well as all the staff. Highly recommend VCA!
I got here at about 410pm Sunday June 3rd 2018. I drove from Sierra Vista to this location based on reviews. They werent the best reviews but Im glad I went here.My 8 month old German Shepard had been vomiting for 2-3days and was severly dehydrated. She wasnt doing well at all and every method to help her get better at home was unsuccessful. I believed she had gotten food poisoning from her new bag of dog food (same brand and style Ive always given her, but a brand new bag I had purchased). I wanted to make sure she didnt have a blockage or anything else though and she definitely needed emergency care to address her dehydration and inability to hold anything down. She was very lethargic, stiff and hardly had the energy to stand up.I did call ahead to let them know I was bringing her in. Upon arriving it was 106° outside and pretty warm inside the clinic. I think they might be having problems with the A/C. I was immediately brought back into a room and waited about an hour before seeing the vet who saw us as soon as she clocked in (shift switch). Which they did let us know beforehand that we were waiting for this vet to come in, as the one currently on shift was in surgery. We had labs drawn (high BUN but good kidney levels), an x ray (no signs of blockage but gas and an obviously empty stomach). We were given the option to have her injected with meds and fluids under her skin or to leave her there over night with medication and IV fluids, with a follow up x ray. I chose to bring her home for the night to possibly save $1,000 and bring her back if she didnt improve.Once getting home my pup wasnt feeling the best still, especially with her camel hump of water, that had been injected above her shoulder. The next morning she was feeling much better! Its been 2 days now and shes holding everything down, has had 4 bowel movements and is enjoying her bland diet. Her energy has almost fully returned as well.I think the staff was thorough, they listened to my concerns (I also had reasonable expectations when coming in) very friendly and professional.$735.34 (after a military discount) later my German Shepard is doing much better.Picture provided is of an estimate for her to stay over night, just so you can see an idea of how much they charge per thing.
My husband and I brought our 6 month old Great Dane in to treat a wound on her tail that we were worried about. We were given two treatment options, to have her tail amputated or to go through a 2 week bandage change care plan. We didn’t want to rush into amputation before trying to get it healed so we opted for the bandages. We went daily for 4 days, 2-3 hour drop-off and pick-up appointments, and were told each visit that her tail was improving and the bandages were working great so we wouldn’t have to go back for 3 days. On the 5th visit we didn’t get a call to pick her up for 7 hours upon which one of the veterinarians told me that our puppy pulled her bandage off, from being in a kennel the entire time, and the bandages weren’t doing any good and amputation was our best option after spending over $500 on the previous treatment plan. I asked for a quote for the amputation and was given an estimate between $2,211 and $2,542. I immediately called multiple vet offices to get a comparable idea of what that kind of treatment costs and found a family owned vet office that offered the same procedure and treatment plan for $190.75.I am not upset that she was left in a kennel for 5+ hours, it’s a 24 hour emergency animal hospital, I understand that there are more pressing matters on any given day. I am also not upset with the office itself, everyone treated my puppy wonderfully and I never had any issues with wait times or any of the staff members. That being said, I am upset that we were either 1- mislead in following through with the wrong treatment plan or 2- having to change course and pay for two separate treatments because our puppy was left unattended in a kennel for hours with a known tail injury.I am equally upset with the cost of treatments that I was given. I know that the staff doesn’t make the prices but the drastic difference of cost for the same exact treatment is ridiculous. It is so disheartening to have to bring your pet in for an injury only to be faced with such a large bill and the worry of being turned away if you cannot pay at least 80% of the cost up front. The moral of my story is to look into other options before taking your pet here unless you absolutely need to. Again not for a lack of love and care but solely for the cost of treatment. We ended up bringing our puppy to Arivaca Pet Clinic and they have been amazing. We got an appointment for the next day and for an extremely reasonable price, well worth the drive.
Highly recommended. After several emergency visits in the wee morning hours with our dogs over the years, and phone call inquiries after hours, we finally just made Valley our regular vet. Always been impressed with their level of service and compassion. The emergency visit invoices have been more than reasonable and any vet weve ever had has been competent, thorough and transparent with options and billing. Thank you for taking care of my babies!
Unfortunately I disagree with good reviews. We took our pup in to cut back cracked toenail. This mild minor treatment resulted in severe infection within 48 hours. Technicians Kaylee and Megan tried to blame incident on us for being careless. Kaylee also made assumptions about what she felt caused the infection. Bottom line they did recognize Blue’s needs. They would not listen to our simple request for oral antibiotics. Within 24 hours of the “toenail clipping”.she became infected by a unknown incision 2 cm above the toenail bed . The area was clearly shaved so somebody there did it. No one will address that.Blue was not their first priorityThe first priority of the technician was covering up a mistake and then trying to create scenarios that did not happen. We never even spoke to a vet so I cannot say if the vet had anything to do with this.Technicians here think they have qualifications to determine best care for your pet -do not listen to them.My pup simply needed anabiotic’s after they shaved and cut in the wrong area. If this was a mistake so be it, they need to own up to it and apologize! No one here listened. We ended up taking her to another vet.to clean out the infection. This could’ve been prevented had they listened to us on day one.If they took ownership of the mistake, this could’ve been a better outcome.
When my cats kidneys failed VCA took us in right away and treated us with complete kindness in what was a horrible situation. I highly recommend them if you need an emergency vet.
Valley Animal Hospital has excellent staff and care however, NEVER purchase their wellness plan that you can only use at that VCA hospital. I am sorry I fell for the gimmick (I don’t usually). I switched veterinary practices and cancelling the plan has to go through “management.” BUYERS’ BEWARE.IN REPLY: Thank you for your response. I did reach out to your office yesterday and have yet to hear back. While I have been waiting for management to return my call to cancel my CareClub accounts, I was charged again on one of my accounts (which I was told would be non-refundable).Your pet care is phenomenal and I will continue to refer for emergency purposes. However, I believe your CareClub cancellation policy is flawed and wouldn’t recommend for anyone to purchase as you have to jump through hoops to cancel.
Went to get some wound care and told them how anxious I was and how I would like regular updates. I received NO UPDATES AT ALL during the six hours it took to take care of the wound. They said they were sorry because they were busy, but thats no excuse. They just expanded and every time I called I got a different person on the phone after at least a ten minute hold. They have plenty of staff to keep an anxious pet parent updated. Pet is fine but I am not. Also the cost was exorbitant! Ive been here before with emergencies and gotten good care, which is rare for a corporate emergency vet, and was the only reason I went back. This time was not so good. Will definitely find a different emergency vet next time who understands that their patient is also the human pet parent, not just the pet.
Everyone that works here is amazing! We had to put our 15 year old kitty down. From the first phone call, to coming to meet us in the parking lot, to helping us through the process the vet technicians and Vet Doctor were so compassionate and caring. Today I received a condolence card in the mail from them including a note from the Doctor. If your pet needs medical treatment they will take good care of them!
Everyone was so responsive and caring. Prices were affordable. Would highly recommend.
They were kind and caring when I had to euthanize my cat. While a different vet tried to string me along and keep trying different medications, VCA were honest and informed me there was likely no treatment.I heard genuine concern in the voice of each person I talked to, down to the receptionist, and they truly seemed to care about the patient, and not be concerned about the bottom line.
My beloved Jalapeno was brought in because he was lethargic, losing weight and wasnt eating as well as vomiting. I spoke with Samantha on the phone who let me know it would be a 3-4 hour wait. She put me on the list and let me know if I called around and found a shorter wait time to just let them know. She was friendly and understanding of my urgency. Wait times were the same everywhere, so I decided to stay where I was. I was actually seen within 30 minutes for curbside attendance. His attendant Katherine was friendly and took Jalapeno in with the utmost care after we shared his information. I was contacted by Katherine and then Dr. Wesley who let me know the severity of his issue. Dr. Wesley gave me all the information on his ailment as well as the options regarding quality of life. She was patient with me as well as sympathetic. Unfortunately and sadly I had to euthanize my best friend for the greater good. As I cried through the request and process Dr. Wesley cried with me. It wasnt easy, but she made a really bad situation bearable. I greatly thank her for that and am glad that there are veterinarians like her in place for people who have to make one of the worst decisions in their lives regarding a pet. I would never want anyone to have to go through what I have and still am feeling, but this emergency care is the best around. I was made to feel like my dog was the only dog in the facility and was a top priority. Thank you Dr. Wesley, Samantha and Katherine. I was treated with dignity and respect the entire time from the initial phone call to the final good bye and exit to go home.
VCA on 22nd St has an amazing team! Caring, sympathetic, and very thorough, I feel they are a very knowledgeable team of professionals. The Dr Wesley has been amazing! I only wish I would of found them yrs ago!
Cannot say more good things about this clinic! I took in my dog who had swallowed a steak bone and he received wonderful care. I truly felt that the staff cared and treated him as if he were their own pet. They communicated wonderfully, I felt involved and informed even amongst the COVID19 situation. They even called the next day after he was discharged to see how he was recovering! Special shoutout to Dr. Pashaian, Dr. Brown, Brendan and Pam! I was so impressed that Im switching to make them our general veterinarian.
Rosalinda told me that the acetaminophen, fluconazole and gabapentin could in no way have caused my dogs vomiting and diarrhea. Hahaha. I just have to put up with wrong information???
I highly recommend VCA Valley Animal Hospital and Emergency Center. I had to take a family members dog in on an emergency basis. Every one was kind and compassionate from the moment I got there. The technician, Gabby, took a complete history from myself and the owner over the phone. Dr. Ash came in and informed me of her findings and recommendations. I was presented all of my options in detail. We had to make a difficult decision, but the staff were very comforting.
My dog had an infection and swelling on his face and they were readily available to help and very nice and reassuring. Life savers
Our young dog ate a plastic bag with snacks and a preservative packet. Turned out the preservative was very poisonous. From our initial phone call all the way through treatment and checkout the staff and doctor were compassionate, helpful and courteous. Fortunately we got Walter to them quickly and they rapidly determined the proper course of action and treatment. Because of their professionalism our Walter came home with us as good as new and anxious to find more mischief to get into!We were amazed to find a great clinic like this one open on a Sunday afternoon. Our deepest thanks and appreciation to everyone that helped us today!Regards,Walter the Vizsla and his humans
Vets and technicians on an individual basis are pretty good. That is what truly matters, especially in an emergency. However I feel it is too big of a corporation to really value your business and your experience as a customer, both human and pet.
My customary veterinarian recently closed his practice and joined VCA. Hes been our family vet for over 30 years and I have been using him for 12 years. My dog needs to be sedated for a nail trim. In the past the customary fee for this service was between $75 and $95. At VCA for the same service with my long-time vet I was charged $215. Obviously my vet doesnt set the prices anymore. I had to force VCA to allow me to schedule a nail trim. They claimed it wasnt considered an essential service. Try telling a 12 year old senior dog that when she is experiencing difficulty getting traction to stand up from a tile floor because her nails are too long. It took me a month to get her an appointment. The customer service is poor. Every time I called I was put on hold from anywhere to 2 minutes to 8 minutes. To add injury to insult, it took them 20 minutes to process my credit card payment over the phone and notify the vet tech that they could release my dog. Sorry Dr Rocco Mele as much as I love you and Emily, I cant justify coming back under the circumstances.
They are very nice but I make appointments and I get there 10-5 mins before my time and they still take 35-45 mins after the appointment time, I mean I know you have to wait and it’s not like I just walked in either. like I understand sometimes it can take 15-20mins tops to come get my pets but 35-45 mins for there Vaccines and with a appointment. Once they get them I wait a additional an hour as an average. I mean if you have nothing else to do that’s fine. One time I was there for 2 1/2 hours waiting for them to be done with there shots cause of Covid where not allowed in so the whole time I was in my car running the ac wasting gas cause Tucson is really hot and no cover parking either. So the staff is really nice but the wait time is a not for me.
ITS A SCAM!!!! CHARGE YOU UPFRONT FOR CHAT!!!!!
This hospital doesnt even deserve the one star.We had an emergency we thought that would never happen. It took forever to drive to this one hospital since it was the closest. As we got there. They wanted us to pay before they could even treat our baby! Like I said. It was matter of life or death. Was in a hurry and didnt even think about my wallet or even my shoes! We lost him and was grieving in the room while the very rude staff were laughing outside our door!!
I called after my animal ingested something toxic, and despite the day being a Holiday, my call was answered and a Doctor was consulted! I was so grateful and highly recommend VCA Animal Hospital for emergency care.Thank you, VCA!
I brought my dog in on 7/2/2020, she had gotten bit by a rattle snake. While I was worried about my pup the nurse Jessica whom was taking care of Callie kept me updated on everything and calmly talked to me. I just want to give a HUGE shout out to nurse Jessica, thank you so much for everything you did for Callie and thank you to the doctor as well. So much appreciated I can’t thank you enough for taking care of my girl!!
I dont write any reviews unless I have overwhelmingly positive experiences. I dont have time to write them for or dwell on negative experiences. I have been seeing the Vets and Techs at Valley for at least a decade, for 3 different pets, and through multiple building upgrades. I have absolutely never received better service from any vets ever. Cheaper service yes you can certainly find, but far cheaper quality and facilities as well. Everything from helping with all things new puppy to helping you say goodbye to your senior buddy, they treat you with the utmost respect, professionalism, and understanding. One other thing of note that I love, they seem to not employ any STUPID people. Nothing drives me more nuts than going somewhere knowing you are going to need to spend money or are in an emergency situation, and having to deal with gross incompetency. I have never spoken to an employee of any level at Valley that wasnt knowledgeable and a decent human being. Thanks for all the help over the years. Recommend.
Disappointed with the service after several years of going. My pets didnt seem to matter very much and they certainly got a lot of money out of me.
As I write this review I am in tears. Last night we had to make one of the hardest decisions. We had to say goodbye to our beloved baby Abby. She was a 13 year old Golden retriever. The best friend and family member ever. Her time had come and she was suffering. I contacted Vca last night and brought Abby in. The staff and vet there are so so very caring and compassionate. They allow you to take all the time that you need before and after to spend with your baby. They were very sympathetic and loving to our sweet Abby and to us as well. I highly Recommend Vca pet emergency hospital to anyone. Saying goodbye is never an easy thing to do, but I know that we made the right decision for our Abby.
I dont know. I didnt expect the. To just help me. But the lady on the phone was rude and u compassionate
I just want to say. We had to put our 13 yrs kitty down last night for alot of health reasons. The whole staff couldnt have been any more compassionate and understanding and loving. There is a great staff there and understand your needs. Thank you for being there for us and Tabby....
Absolutely wonderful. They took wonderful care my dog and were very reasonably priced!
One of the best places to take your fur babies Into, the staff is always nice, the area is clean, the staff and doctors there genuinely care about your doggies and cats and are always professional. They expressed the deepest of empathy and sympathy to my family when we were bringing our dog into treatments and surgery’s and where there till the end of our dogs life and sent a sympathy card after our family’s members passing. I would recommend everyone who LOVES their animal here and here only
As an ED nurse you know how things should go when a human shows up to the ER possibly septic and needing URGENT medical care. The staff here was slow and unresponsive to my puppies care. In the 5 hours she was there she only received 150 ml of normal saline when she was SEVERELY dehydrated. We had authorized the bolus a liter and a nasogastric tube for feeding 2/3 hours before but nothing had been done. To top it off one of the Vet TECH was so rude and sassy when we asked for an update. We ended up pulling her out of the hospital to take to another. Worst experience ever and sky high prices.
Amazing!! Our toy poodle Teddy, had a scary night on 7/10/19. After taking him to another vet earlier in the day, he was still having issues later on into the night. We brought him in to VCA on an emergency visit and they took wonderful care of him! Everyone was very nice and went above and beyond! The doctor and vet tech were amazing! With X-rays, diagnosis and treatment we were in and out in no time. They were very honest and upfront about treatment and costs (emergency costs are usually higher as to be expected). I will be switching our toy poodle over to VCA for regular checkups as well!
My first and only experience (will not be my last) with VCA Valley Animal Hospital was so amazing considering my situation. My elderly and hospice ferret had been been trying to pass on at home, but just couldnt make that final step over the Rainbow Bridge. From my first call (me crying my eyes out) to his final peaceful breath in my hands, the entire staff and especially Dr. Violetta was patient, compassionate and truly gave me the space to help my Bubba gain his wings. To top off the experience, I received a beautiful hand written condolences card a few short days later!Thank you to all the VCA staff for making this heartbreaking (for me) transition less painful.Should an emergency vet be needed for my parents dogs, I will be back in a heartbeat.
Today on Thanksgiving I lost my best friend. She went from running, playing, eating and drinking to not drinking, not eating, and throwing up in 4 days. She was hurting and I had to make the call to lovingly let her go.Im giving 5 stars because there was no better staff or doctor who could have been there. They were kind. The doctor understood how hard this was for me and they truly cared. In the worst experience of my life they were kind.Rip Nova. I love you so much and I miss you!
They were very kind and generous when our dog was sick. She ended up passing but they were extremely kind and absolutely wonderful about the whole situation ❤️
This place has the BEST and most caring doctors/techs. They do an amazing job at laying out treatment plans and costs. The wait time is reasonable and everyone is so friendly!I couldn’t afford all of the medications my rabbit needed, but the staff sent us home with some donations to help out with the final cost. I’m so so grateful for this hospital!
The quality of care is surpassed by none, however, only for the wealthy. Ive been bringing my pets here for 25 years. They wont even let me through the doors today without 80% of estimated hospital stay up front. Would have payment in full in two days. That will probably be too late. Get this - they will humanely euthanize her for free, though. I am completely devastated.
