My dog wasnt in a dire emergency, but I needed to get her seen and my vet is closed until Tuesday. Id tried all the emergency places my vet had listed but they were slammed. While Im sorry the other places were so slammed, Im glad it led me to Pima Pet Clinic.Whats to love?- Great system setup for curbside care- Professional, compassionate, communicative staff- Level of communication is phenomenal- Team operates seamlessly- Thorough- Expedient- Affordable- OrganizedWhats not to love?Absolutely nothing. For emergency/urgent care, I know Ill never bring my dog anywhere else. Thanks to all of the awesome staff.
Our dogs face began rapidly swelling on a Sunday morning, and though we did not know the cause, we knew he needed emergency care. We called several clinics that could not see us before Pima Pet Clinic said they could see him. Upon arrival, it was clear our dogs case was more severe than others, and he was put on top of the list to go back to see the doctor. (We are grateful that the people ahead of us were all so worried about our dog, and gracious about this). As we suspected, he was bitten by a rattlesnake. The entire staff was so kind, and informative, and they took such good care of our boy, and of us! We really felt like he was in wonderful hands, with a group of people who genuinely cared about his comfort, and healing. I cannot say enough good things about them! Thank you all for being so fantastic!!!
Had an emergency with my dog and even though it was a long wait it was worth it. Ppl need to understand that it’s just like a human emergency room yr gonna have to wait a while to get seen. The staff was great the Dr was professional and caring towards my dog which I appreciated. The total amount was just a little out of my price range but they offered a couple payment options, I went with scratchpay which was doable for my situation. I’m happy with the results and would recommend to anyone. Thank you 🙏🏽
All of the techs and docs here are fantastic. They have looked out for and loved on my dogs for years( and me too, when I needed it). I trust them and all the recommendations they have given me. So, so grateful.
Took more than 4 hours to get my dog into a room to not even properly check him. He is in pain now. They didn’t even tell me what was wrong with him, because they did not do any test on him. They only went based on what i told them. They do not know how to do their job right! But they charged an examination fee when they didn’t even examine him.
Dr. Julie B., Monica and the rest of the staff are empathetic, professional, competent and kind. Dr. Julie took the time to examine my pet, explaining the options and following up with the chosen treatment. Would absolutely recommend!
We had to unexpectedly put my brothers dog down and they couldn’t have been any more heartless about the the process. They could have at least acted like they cared instead of being so nonchalant. We only came here cause all other emergency rooms were full. I now understand why every other hospital was full EXCEPT this one.
I was a loyal customer, brought three of my dogs here for emergencies which included surgeries, overnight stays and urgent medical needs. The doctors are great, most of the staff is friendly. They made a courtesy stitches removal appointment for me at 7:30 am on a Saturday when they were a 24/7 operation. Then they decided to change their hours but avoid notifying anyone let alone customers who had appointments. It’s incredibly unprofessional and as I wait outside for 8 am to come along even though I had a 7:30 appointment, a staff member arrives and walks by me avoiding eye contact, not smiling and when I tell her I had an appointment, her reply, I can’t help you until 8 am. It’s just gross unprofessionalism. What happen to this place, they remodeled and lost what they were really good at.
I went in because all of the vets seem to be overwhelmed and I couldnt get in before I leave later in the week. So I went to them. I sat there for 3 hours with 3 other customers who were seen before me. I was finally put into the small exam room the assistant came in and asked symptoms etc. Then she left. At 3.5 hours I went out and asked the receptionist when I would be seen it had been 3 and a half hours. So pretty soon the girl comes back and says Ill take her back but are you willing to wait a while? I said like another 3.5 hours? She said, yes it could be. I left never to go back..They need to tell people when you come in that it may be a lengthy wait, then you make the decision.
This place is absolutely amazing. My dog Punky was not feeling well and I brought her in very late in the day and every single member of the staff was incredibly compassionate, professional, and informative. If I could give them a 50 star review I would. I am so appreciative of the staff there and they were able to get my dog in right away and help her get passed the emergency that she was experiencing. They also were able to get me pointed in the right direction in regards to a long-term strategy to improve Punkys well-being. Thank you Pima Pet Clinic!!
My pup and I absolutely LOVE Pima Pet. We have always had a great experience. The doctors are all incredible (especially Dr. Knight and Dr. Parker) and the techs are always so kind and friendly (shout out to Jaclyn and Cooper!) Without doubt, they are the best vet clinic we’ve ever been to for emergencies and appointments alike. They are professional and kind.
My 9 year old Heeler was not eating and having trouble walking. He also was not able to hold his urine. This came about in a matter of a couple days. Called 5 places to try to get him in asap. This place said they could get him in at 10. I was told to wait in parking lot at 10. I was not seen till 1. My dog could not walk and had to be carried. Vet did ex rays but no blood work. I was told he just needed iv’s and had a bad constipation. He had a bowel movement there and they said he would be fine. I carried him back to the car and brought him home and he only got worse. Not able to get up at all, urinating on himself and everywhere. I called several places to have him euthanized and it took 2 days. He had fluids coming out of his nose, eyes and mouth. He laid there suffering. The vet could have done a better job and told us he was not gonna get better and we could have ended his suffering then. Taking a few ex rays and saying oh he will be fine when he was not eating, could not walk and could not control his bladder was not acceptable to me. Suffering is not acceptable as a dog owner. I would not take another dog here again.
My dog fell off the car and he was drooling blood excessively and a little swollen and we took him here cause all the the other good rating vets were hour long wait. They charged us 104$ just for them to say he’s okay and there’s no blood and we look down and he’s drooling blood so they took another look and said because he’s not crying he should be fine. Got charged for two minute of not a good look or even some medication to help him with the pain. Nothing don’t go here. I can see why the rates are so low. They told us we could go back but they should do their job the first time....
Always keeps you informed. Vet techs are always professional and courteous. Care for my animals as if they were their own.
I understand this place has some bad reviews, but personally my experience for emergency services was fine. The doctor did give me an option of a lot of money upfront, or a more reasonable route that involved following up with my dogs primary vet. One thing that did kind of bother me though is the doctor never spoke to me directly. Everything was passed on between herself and an assistant. I dont think its too much to ask to speak directly to the doctor for 2 minutes - especially when I am in a very concerned state for my pet. Bedside manner means a lot to human patients in medicine, and equally to the owners of animal patients in medicine.
I went to the Pima Pet clinic on Sunday April 18 knowing that my dog more then likely had kennel cough. My dog wasn’t holding down fluids and was in a lot of pain trying to hack stuff up. We waited two hours in the parking lot for them to bring her in after being told it was first come first serve they took dogs in that said they were severe cases. Then we waited three hours for them to check her out just for them to confirm the suspicion that it was more then likely kennel cough. I spent over 100 dollars for them to look at her and they wouldn’t give her any medicine and sent me home with a sick dog. Fast forward over night she got worse and then I had to go spend another 120 dollars at a different place for my dog to actually get medicine that she needed to feel better. Absolutely don’t go to this place if your expecting them to help your dog all I wish is that I could get my money back for this awful experience.
I had an appointment for 0830 Monday morning, there in time. I was not informed they were still doing curbside when appointment was confirmed yesterday which was Sunday. Got here 0845 still waiting. My baby doesn’t like the car and it was hot so I left went to abc vaccines. Apparently they work on their schedule, and I know enough to leave if I’m not happy with attitudes of the young yuppy little girls that work there. Nowhere is it right or in emergency cases prudent to wait even an hour if your fur baby is truly in distress, while one is waiting and fuming get online and find another vet !!! I don’t recommend and after reading these reviews I see I made the right call.
My cat was acting strange and this was the quickest place I could find that was accepting walk-ins at the time. They diagnosed her with diabetes and they have been very helpful with informing me about it and making sure my cat is in good hands. It is a tad on the expensive side, but I think its worth it, especially to keep my cat healthy! Dr. Bejarano and the technician, Cooper, have been a blessing to work with, I even changed this location to be my normal veterinarian.
You are told to drive to the hospital and then call them from the parking lot. It’s then that they tell you the wait time is 4 hours and if you leave the parking lot with your pet to wait in the comfort of your own home and return, you lose your place in line and have to start all over. Ridiculous and really bad for sick and injured pets. I’ll try any other hospital in town before bringing my pet here again.
My dog had a very bad ear infection, the entire staff were very kind and took great care of my puppy!!
My cat Zeke was a client from when I adopted him until the recent end of his life. I find the vets to be caring and always provide me with treatment options.I have another cat who is a client, and have taken other animals there as well. They will continue to be my veterinary clinic of choice. I highly recommend them. Dr Knight is the best!
Well I had two back to back instances. Dog one: I took in he had a serious cough. It was a great experience. They didn’t know what was wrong with him but gave me antibiotics and away I went. Day two: my other dog came down with the same cough. I called in at 0800 am, receptionist came out and gave me clip board. I sat there for over a hour and when the third person went in that had come in after me, I called. They forgot about me, which was frustrating but hey they were busy. So another hour goes by and they haven’t come out, so I called and asked if I should come back later? So they came and got my dog. Two hours later still sitting in the car I still do not have my dog or a clue what is happening. So I call again, kind of concerned, I then get guilt tripped because I have never had a fecal test, dogs aren’t on heart worm meds, didn’t have my records with me etc. I don’t live in this parasite ridden oven of state, where I come from I do not have all these diseases or issues. I gave them my normal vet contact information. They tell me he has kennel cough but I had them both vaccinated for it? But dog one doesn’t have kennel cough and one does? How does two sets of vaccines fail? Then I wasn’t told I should quarantine my dog and this is extremely contagious. So I came to the clinic at 0800 and didn’t get my dog back until 1300 for some basic antibiotics and to be treated poorly. Good think I paid the higher rate for that. So conclusion, day one experience I would have recommended them for saving my puppy. Day two was a disaster and honestly I won’t bring my dogs back.
This place saved my cats life and has given her the best care possible at an affordable price for someone living off disability. The staff is super polite and friendly, its also located in a very convenient location! You can go get your groceries across the street while youre waiting for your pet. Dr. Knight had been following my cat since I had brought her in as an emergency in June. I couldnt have asked for a more! Dr Knight gave me hope and had given me 9 more months with my baby. When it was time to put her to sleep, the whole team here was extremely compassionate and gave me as much time as I needed to say goodbye. Sure theirs tons of other places you can take your pet, You wont find a better vet in Tucson though
I had my Border Collie in Sat. $1100 later was given paperwork with a list of possibilities. Was told they were closing at 7 pm, as there were no doctors avail. Rushed my dog to my regular vet today. She did surgery this morning to remove his spleen. He did not make it. He had 2 liters of blood in his stomach from his spleen bleeding. The doctor at Pima stated he had a little bit of fluid in his stomach, but didnt even think to question a possible spleen issue. Pima sent out his xrays to experts to read. Was told there were no masses. Apparently, they couldnt tell he was bleeding from the test they did. Will never, ever go to Pima again. This is the second time they let us down. Rest in Peace Doc.
Front office staff is very rude. Waited for two hours (arrived at 7am how I was asked to do) and I was skipped and two customers were put ahead of me. When I got off to voice my concern the front desk lady was very rude and telling me to calm down when I was calm and trying to understand why I was skipped. I live an hour away from the clinic so that my dog would not be seen. He has a tennis size lump on his neck that is painful at times. Not the first time that o have gone to this clinic and it has been the same type of service I have received.
I went in to this clinic to tell them parvo symptoms was the case. Being that I just purchased the puppy they stated that they don’t see parvo symptoms. I waiting 3 hrs outside for the exam and test for worms and for some reason they wanted to take an x-ray have no idea why that was. Then to just release the dog I had to wait another hr . Spent 200$ For two cans of puppy food to take home and having to go see another emergency clinic for a actual parvo test and exam again. When I called this place they wanted to charge me for exam agin because the dr. My dog had wasn’t there ?!!!! This place is a joke and I’m not even a vet and the symptoms read parvo and didn’t even test for that. Do not take your pet here!!!!
I will never take my animals here after hearing the vet say to another staff member after me asking about the cost.... And i quote !ucking people coming in here that have to ask about cost shouldnt be allowed to have pets They kept my cat overnight and when I went to pick her up she was basically dead. I had to watch her suffer all of Saturday and Sunday and took her to her regular vet on Monday morning to put her down.Puma Pet Clinic: you used to and thats when this happened.
I would not have my cat Lola today if it wasnt for the loving staff at Pima Pet Clinic. She needed an Emergency operation and they took such great care of her. Me and Lola thank the staff.
I would like to thank Pima Pet Clinic for taking care of my dog Coco in his final days. They made it possible for us to spend his final days with him and to say goodbye. I’d like to thank Sarah for being kind and compassionate and answering all our questions every time I called.
I brought my dog to Pima Pet Clinic 21 years ago with fluid in his lungs and was having difficulty breathing. The Vet gave me a pill to give him to drain his lungs. My dog died right after i walked into my house. He never offered to give my dog an IV of Lasix to quickly remove the fluid. I was never given any options. I should have been told that this is a serious condition and my dog could die at any time! Oh and he examined his prostate while i was there. I hope when the veterinarian is old and in the hospital and can not breath his Dr comes in with a glove and lube and says OK lets check your prostates. I have since had 2 dogs that have had the same condition and they lived to be 18 and 20 because I am fully aware of how to treat this condition now. If i would take them to my veterinarian they quickly take them into the back and start an IV with lasix and they are fine within an hour or so. This incident has had a tremendous impact on my life and to this day i will not let any vet check my pets prostates. I think this place should be closed down especially when you look at all the negative reviews!
I have a beautiful a Great Dane, Mya, who has cancer and Dr. Sheehan has been the most compassionate and understanding of veterinarians I have ever met (and I’ve had dogs for years)! Their staff is very compassionate and empathetic. I could not have asked for better care and listening ears for my beautiful baby girl. Maintaining a quality of life and the ability to have a team of devoted people there to help with questions and concerns means so much during these difficult times. I will always be so grateful that I came to use this Clinic. If you love your animals and require the best care from professionals that listen and are experts in their field, I highly recommend you come here.
The only positive we receive during my dogs emergency visit was that he got the fluids he desperately needed. The doctor suspected Valley Fever and sent him home. Only 24 hrs later my dog almost died at home and I had to rush him to another facility where he was hospitalized and cost me a fortune. Finally, at a third facility, he had surgery. Pima Pet Clinic failed to diagnose my dog, almost cost him his life, and I unnecessarily spent thousands of dollars. NEVER AGIAN will I trust Pima or their doctors.
Pima Pet Clinic was able to see my dog, William, fairly quickly! It took a while before we could go home but Dr. Bejarano was thorough and took the time to explain to me what was going on. If William ever has another emergency, I’ll be coming back! Thank you Dr. Bejarano, Jackie and everyone else who helped.
I was here recently to find out what was wrong with my kitty. He was fine one day and lethargic the next. It was sudden and Im still reeling from it but unfortunately there wasnt much they could do for him so we decided to let him go peacefully. The people working here were amazing! They were kind, empathetic, and really understanding. This was one of the worst days of my life but the compassion expressed by the staff is one of the things I remember clearly. Our baby boy is gone, but not forgotten and because of the great care we received in one of our most difficult times, when we finally adopt a new furbaby, we will make this our all the time vet if possible. I highly recommend this place.
Our dog had be euthanized after we left him in theirc are and a thousand dollars later we still dont know what was wrong with him.
So I recently lost a pet... and they actually didnt force anything upon me... they were caring with my pet and even worried for myself and the rest of the fam.... even sent out a card afterwards of losing my pet... prices arent to bad... I would recommend this place of any sick pet or perhaps a loss or soon to be loss to the family... only wish we could donate bodies afterwards for free vs having to pay for it so they can study and try an see the issues found in our pets!!! But you definitely can If you have the money! But Thank you Pima Pet Clinic almost Brought me to tears with this!
IF YOUR FUR BABY HAS HEART DISEASE, COME HERE...My little Pomeranian, Sofi, has heart disease. Four and a half years ago, a veterinarian in Virginia told me she probably wouldn’t live another six months. I moved to Tucson with her pom brother, Mr. Bear, broken-hearted.It is very hard to find a vet you can really lean into and trust. I am certain we want similar things for our fur children: a vet with deep knowledge and experience, compassion, evident care for our four-leggeds, responsiveness, the ability to get to the bottom of things, clear communication, a fair cost for services and consideration for the fact that most of us don’t drive BMW’s. That’s a long list, but you know, these are our kids and we want the best for them.Being new to Tucson, I went all over looking for a vet. I have been to more than five clinics and finally found Dr. Judith Parker and the Pima Pet Clinic. Another vet sent me here saying “She is the best in Tucson for heart disease.”I have been seeing Dr. Parker for over four years now.And the Sofi dog is still with me.Dr. Parker is an expert on the heart. I am a novice who tries to pay attention. What I see is that heart disease affects a lot of things, principally the heart and the kidneys. It requires a careful calibration of medicines to help the heart to keep beating and the kidneys to keep draining fluid buildup on the lungs. You can help the heart for a while and then the kidneys get tired and start to fail. Then you have to flush the kidneys with fluid and pray your fur baby will return to some kind of balance. There’s a lot to it.I live on the southwest side of the city. On a good day it is 35 minutes one way to the Pima Pet Clinic, but more often it is 45 minutes. Sometimes I take Sofi to a clinic closer to me for fluids and an occasional test. I did so two weeks ago and the vet reviewed her kidney values and gently told me it was time to say goodbye.I cried for an entire day. Then I sat up and said “Dr. Parker has been caring Sofi for four years. She has saved life her life twice before. If this is the end, I need to hear this from her.”I called. I sent the lab results. Her wonderful and terrifically skilled technician, Monica, called me and said “No way. Dr. Parker says Sofi has been at these values before and she has pulled out of it. Bring her in for fluids.”My girl, who has the personality of Little Orphan Annie on Broadway, hadn’t eaten for two weeks. She was bony and weak. I won’t tell you how I looked.I have been going to the clinic every day for a week for fluids. Yesterday, she ate her first little meal of gourmet dog food on her own. She nudged her red ball and barked at one of her dog friends, Poco, as he walked by the window. How do you you express to someone how truly grateful you are for all they have given and continue to give to the wellbeing of a fur baby you love so much?I know I will need to let her go someday, sooner than I wish. But she will be 15 in June. I thought she would leave me at 10.She’s pawing at the rug now so I gotta go. We are going to break out her assortment of tiny tennis balls for a game. She is great at short catch. Maybe shell be up for it tomorrow.PS Care like this requires a team effort and all the people at Pima Pet Clinic are first rate: Monica, Abbey, Jacquelyn, Melissa and Cindy and many more. Thank you all.
After bringing my dog to Pima pet clinic multiple times before their remodel and void and being satisfied every time with great service and communication, accompanied by fiat prices I had to rush my dog back after a fight with another dog that almost tore his ear clean off. The staff was quick to assure me and get my dog back to the triage area, as I sat in my car and waited I was brought as estimate for surgery to repair his ear, I accepted and paid. 7 hours later I had still heard nothing from the vet clinic who still had my dog, I had to call for the update they promised I would receive “as soon as the procedure was done” and the tech had told me a second time that she would “call me when he woke up from the Tranquilizer” . They left me waiting on day long with no updates as I tried to finish my work day. When I came to pick my dog up, I paid the extra cost and drove home with his discharge paperwork and medication in a bad they had given me. Once home I went to check his medications and put them away, I opened their discharge bag to a bloody bandage that wreaked of dog blood and was making a mess of the paperwork and all of my dogs medications I had just purchased for him from Pima pet clinic. The next night after work while they were still open I went back to have my dogs ear reinspected as he was continuing to shake his head, I asked to speak with a manger or doctor about the experience I had getting home last night and was given a run around that “no manager is on site” the doctor told me”I’m not the one to talk to about that, you can try tomorrow”. Extremely displeased with the unprofessional actions of this facility’s tag team. Unfortunately one bad apple can ruin the bunch and their technician who did that sure did.
After my 2 year old cat being sick for two days and a visit from our regular vet I brought him here. Unknowingly at the time to be his last visit to the vet. They ran tests and called me back and let me know that it was renal failure, something the regular vet should have caught. They continued to call me with updates and were very sincere about what I was going through with having to put my baby down. I would highly recommend considering Pima Pet Clinic.
Very happy with PPC! Took our dog for emergency services today, they had us in and out in less than 2 hours, and the charges were very fair and reasonable. (Another pet ER we called last night had “6-8 hour wait” so 2 hrs is nothing!) They were upfront about costs, options and prognosis. The vet was great— really took the time to answer questions and discuss everything in detail. The techs were also friendly and professional. Highly recommend, especially if you are budget conscious by necessity. Thanks PPC!Note: They take COVID safety seriously so I was more than happy to wait in the comfort of my car. If you can’t do that for whatever reason I suggest you let them know in advance to make other arrangements.
Our dog injured her eye. The staff and Veterinarian were all so kind and thoughtful. They took good care of all of us!
Cooper was great. He was so nice to our cat. He made me feel confident. Have been here 3 times with 3 different animals. I complete trust them, and feel that they are only doing whats best for the animal and not just trying to rip me off.
They were good to us. To help our dog and it was the best personal service Ive ever received. When it comes to Veterinary Care I recommend this place highly. They love pets. And want to help them. No matter what it takes.
The vets here are very knowledgeable and reliable. The prices for treatment are also much more reasonable than other animal hospitals in town.
Amazing and honest emergency vet services! Thank you for giving our dog the comfort we couldn’t . Affordable and professional.
We have taken our animals here on two separate emergencies. The staff was empathetic, the vets honest, and the price affordable. They did not try to sell me procedures that were unnecessary. I will use them again.
Our beloved friend and companion, Tawsha, had a stroke. We didnt know if she was in pain but couldnt eat, walk, stand. We knew it was her time. They brought out a small stretcher, very gently lifted her on and took us to a room. Gave us time with her. Kindly explained what they were doing, what was going to happen. The staff were kind, gentle and considerate, not intrusive at all. $110 was our cost. The cost goes up with single/group cremation, urn, paw print, we opted not to do this. Took our girl home.
DONT GO HERE!!!! POOR SERVICE AND LACK OF RESPECT!!! My dog has been sick for a while and we needed the vet to give him some pain meds. We talked with the vet and she ignored what we were saying entirely. We said he was doing well on this medicine and she refused to give him it. The vet ended up hanging up in the middle of the conversation. Then they brought my dog to us and he was drugged up. He was confused and ragdoll basically. We also specifically said dont give him anything. The vet techs were rude and told us we werent welcomed there anymore. They wouldnt respond to our calls after that. Now hes dazed and we have NO clue what they gave him. Its not on the receipts at all. Dont waste your money or time there please.
I brought my kitten in on a saturday for an emergency visit because she had non stop diarrhea, $330 for a lab and everything for them to not know the cause but give me medicine that should help. My kitten was fluffy and lively, very playful and beautiful and was just having diarrhea before i took her here, four days later she stopped eating, the diarrhea stopped for the most part but she lost so much weight and was very lethargic. i took her in four days later after her first being seen and they told me she was very sick and suggested i take her to an overnight vet which would’ve costed $1000 or more or take her home and let her die. the doctor said even taking her to the overnight vet, she still might not make it but i took my chances and took her home with me and was charged another $100 for an exam, she died an hour later. the doctor said the diarrhea was the first sign but tested negative for parasites. Didn’t bother to look further into it and said they’d call and let me know the results and never did, the probiotic they gave me for her made her even worse and before i knew it my baby was dead. $430 for my baby that died four days after being seen. they didn’t try their best for her and didn’t try to see what else it could be. And now $430 later my baby is dead and im grieving, i try to be sympathetic for veterinarians because of their high suicide rate and the things they have to see and deal with but my kitten died in my arms an hour later and all they did was put some fluids in her and suggest ways for me to go further into debt, i wish she was still here and i’m sorry but i blame pima pet clinic for it.
Dr. Jessica Abel is by far the best veterinarian I have ever worked with. My dog was diagnosed with kidney failure almost two years ago, and Dr. Abel is one of few doctors who has stayed positive and gone out of her way to help my little pup live a quality life. Dr. Abel has an incredible heart and I sincerely appreciate her efforts.
Very rude!!!!! I don’t care how busy you are.. you should never be rude to people on the phone! I won’t even bother taking my baby here!!! I guess my dog being sick was not an emergency and was told a week like really!! Disgusting
IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY- CALL BEFORE YOU GO- NOT 24-HOUR!!! I arrived at 7:30pm and they told me the vet left at 7pm and that I would need to go to VCA. Dont advertise you are 24-hour if you are not. I dont usually write reviews but Id hate for someone to lose their pet because they wasted precious time trying to go somewhere that wasnt actually open.
My fur baby was very sick. I called multiple locations and no one would see her without an appointment. I called them and they were so polite had me take her in immediately. We arrived and they already knew it was me who came in and they were ready for her. They took a quick look and pulled us to the back right away. We weren’t able to fix my baby but they made sure we were all taken care of. They treated me and my wife with such affection and warmth it made the hard time a little easier. I thank the staff very much for all they did! If I ever need anything for any of my other animals I will definitely be returning to this location!!! We Thank you all very much for all you do!!!
Pima is not on the chapest side of a veterinarian but Ill tell you this, you get what you pay for. My beloved friend Spot was put down at Pima on Monday. We had never been there before, so its not like they knew us. Today (Thursday) we recieved a special personalized card that they had hand written to extend their sympathy. It is small efforts like that, that make a normal company great. I highly reccomend.
I had to put my dog down, he was my best friend that I had for over 15yrs. Now Baloo is in a better place and is at peace. So thank you very much for everyone there at Pima Pet Clinic for your love and support. 💜
They were great working with my limited funds but recommend I feed a prescription diet for the next week or so gave me 2 small 5.5 oz cans for a 55lb dog I went back the next day because I still hadnt received the prescription so I could go buy it at pet store and only would sell me 1 small 5.5 oz can because they didnt want to open a full case of the large 12 oz cans and sell me 6 which is half the case. I cant afford over $40 for the whole case right now and still havent sent the prescription Im out of the prescription diet they want her on. VERY FRUSTRATING Im trying to do and feed her what they think is best and needs right now and they are making it damn near impossible to do so. To add Im 20 min or more drive from the office.
I brought my kitten in as an emergency on a Saturday for gastroenteritis which was successfully treated at my cats regular vet with Zofran two months prior. They told me the wait would be approx 30-60min. I waited a total of 3 hours and the vet never spoke to me, I was only spoken to through an office staff member. The vet recommended xrays and I declined as she got better in the past with an anti-emetic. They refused to give her a zofran injection or to write a prescription for zofran. She gave a different anti-emetic against my request for zofran as it had worked in the past for her. This whole exchange was through a staff member and not the vet herself which I found very unprofessional. They charged me $68 for injection where my other clinic (Pet Doctor) charged me $21, and this is on top of $91 just for her to be seen by the vet. So in total: wasted 3 hours of my time, gave my cat a non-ideal medication given her history, charged me an exorbitant amount for it, and the vet never even spoke to me. Will not return and will likely be sharing my experience on yelp, and other media if not reached out to.
I took my cat in because he was vomiting excessively. Here I was told that x-rays should be done. If nothing was found on the x-rays, the next step would be experimental surgery. I was not comfortable with that approach, so I paid the $85.00 and left to another clinic. At the other clinic, they found he ate a poisoned mouse through blood tests and gave him an anti-venom. Hes ok now.
Last night we had to say goodbye to our 15-1/2 year old corgi. We took her to Pima, the entire staff were wonderful, we talked to the vet, decided on blood work and an X-ray, the results of which allowed us to make our decision in peace. During the entire process there was compassion for our beloved dog and for us. We recommend them highly.
Ive been to Pima Pet Clinic twice for emergency visits. They were able to see my dog relatively quickly considering I didnt have an appointment and they were up front about the costs which I appreciate (its an emergency so I expect it to be more expensive than a regular vet visit). I was provided with options for treatment and I didnt feel pressured to pay for additional tests/xrays since I had a good idea of what the issue is. Monica the vet tech and Dr. Knight were both fantastic with my dog!Update: Came back 2 days later to have the pup checked due to observing pain symptoms, lady with tattoos opened the door and simply said she couldnt see us and that was that...During the day the vets/vet techs were great - unfortunately, this woman didnt get the memo.
My tiny peekaboo was attacked by a huge dog. She was crushed had a huge gash and a double punctured lung. My dad and his girlfriend were covered in blood when they came in with her. They took her in immediately and she went under 8 Hours of surgery and they saved her life and it was very close for a bit there I would definitely recommend this facility to a friend the staff is great. theyre very busy but they try to get you information as soon as possible. the Vets are amazing, 4 days after surgery she was actually standing up and in 6 days she was able to walk. we owe a great deal to Pima Animal Hospital. It is very expensive. but its for emergency situations. It is like Urgent Care they will see you quickly save your animals life but you will pay a premium for the emergency situation. Surgery is always very expensive it costs a lot to not die.
Avoid this place like the plague. I called right before I took my cat Sunday morning because she was limping, and in the past, her limping had been caused by an ingrown toe-nail. They told me to bring her in, and that they would examine her and cut her nails. After I got there, and after my cat was examined cursorily, the vet, Dr. Curtis, sent in a tech vet with a estimate of $485 for x-rays I had told her my vet had already done! I declined the x-rays but begged them to cut the cats nails, and Dr. Curtis stated we dont do that in emergency. She told me to cut the cat nails myself if I was not going to pay to have these unnecessary x-rays. I had already agreed to pay the $85 initial fee just to be seen, and now Dr. Curtis wanted another $485 dollars of unnecessary x-rays to cut the cat nails. Dr. Curtis has the bedside manner of a shark (it was my impression she liked neither animals nor people), and appears to me to be in this practice to see how much she can extort from pet owners who come in worried about their pets. The only reason I went there is that my regular vets answering machine suggested Pima Vet Clinic in case my vet was closed. Please save yourself unnecessary expenses and price-gouging and go somewhere else!
Dr. Parker killed my cat. She is the worst vet in the City of Tucson. What else is there to say. I am devastated. We went in for a routine visit and he was dead within a hour. Her license should be revoked and put in jail.
Do NOT go here!!! They care more about the money then the well-being of your animal. My mom brought her dog here and took 5 hours to be seen we called over and over that shes really in rough shape they kept saying 15 more min. Finally when she was finally was seen they did some test and wanted to do x-rays my mom said she cant afford the xrays but go ahead and do the test even with that they gave my moms dog fluids and meds and sent her out the door. The next day she was worse! We called and they said were full and bring her in on mon we said she doesnt have till mom. They couldnt help us. We took her to Southern animal hospital where we should have gone in the 1sr place! She was immediately seen due to.the severity and right away the vet knew what was wrong she did one test and found out exactly what was wrong. They took great care to her. Unfortunately we put her down that day her organs were failing and pima pet clinic should have never given her fluids and meds I guess lack of experience, but they got thier $700 so im sure its a win for them.
I recently brought in my male cat who was straining to pee. I called ahead to let them know we would be coming in, and upon arrival they were almost immediately able to put us in a private room. Kristin at the front office was great. Not long after that, vitals were taken by a wonderful vet tech named Monica who was excellent with my cat. We didnt wait long to see Dr. Parker, whose examination determined no blockage (good news). She explained possible reasons for his illness and let me know we would need to wait on a urine sample. I received a full packet of info on Feline Urinary Tract Disease. I also received an itemized estimate for recommended services. They advised me to call them if I had not heard anything by 4:30 pm. By that time, my boy had yet to deliver a urine sample, so they advised me to let him stay overnight. The overnight doctor (I believe she goes by Dr. Miki) called me in the morning with a full update and let me know a time frame to pick him up. When I picked him up, I was given complete discharge instructions as well as his medication and food prescription. I was also given a detailed typed account of his overnight stay. We set up a follow-up appointment in a week, but the clinic still called me to check on him a couple of days after taking him home. I am very impressed with the care and service given by this clinic. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for taking good care of my boy!
I was very impressed with Dr. Scott when I brought my pup in concerned about a stroke. She was very thorough in her examination, listened to the symptoms I described, was very kind and gentle with my anxious dog. She took the time to explain his diagnosis and offered to admit him for observation, but also told me that she felt hed be okay if I took him home if I wanted to and gave me clear things to watch for. She did recommend a shot to help with his symptoms and we opted for that and taking him home because she reassured me his case of Idiopathic Vestibular Syndrome was very mild.Within 24hrs my dog was visibly better and I was very relieved. While the cost of visiting an emergency vet and having them administer a shot was substantive, to me it was worth it to ensure my baby was getting the necessary care on a weekend when our regular vet was closed.
I brought my English Bulldog in for her exam the other day. Since my dog does not get along well with others, they had a room ready upon our arrival. Dr. Parker is very compassionate and thorough. We have been taking our two dogs to this clinic for many years. We wouldnt trust them to anyone else. Thank you!
Our cat loss use of her hind legs at 3am today. I called Pima Pet, to be answered by someone who was so incredibly rude. She showed zero concern but told me that it will be $85 to see her and to ring the bell. Really?!..with an emergency to throw out payment with no compassion says a lot about this place. We landed up driving to the east side to a wonderful ER vet, where our little lady took her last breath. I feel relieved that we didn’t have to suffer the brash staff while dealing with a difficult situation.
DONT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS. I had to take my cat here on an emergent basis as he had a bladder obstruction. The staff was incredibly kind over the phone and when we got in we were put immediately in a room. The Dr. explained the situation and gave us a plan and what to expect. The pricing for everything was about average as we have had x-rays and such done on our dog before and already knew what the cost would be. after leaving I called back in a few hours. The receptionist put the Dr. on the phone and she gave us a status update before and again after the procedure. This place is awesome. They were calm kind and well informed. I would definitely take my cat back.
Dont recommend at all, my pug went in several months ago, after hours due to behaving rather strange (in pain)Was sent home with pain meds, had to go back same night, they operated, charged an arm and leg and all that and she still passed away. When seen the following morning had bruises around the neck .When they operated her stomach no reason for neck bruising, lack of personal care and attention, very dry place . No personal touchIf you have another option I would take it for your pets needs
READ READ READ!!!I wish you could give this place a 0 because that’s what it deserves!!!Here is what happened with us. On a Thursday I noticed our 11 year old English Bulldog was having issues breathing. I called my husband at work and he said we may have to put her down due to her very labored breathing. My husband was able to get home to see her but by the time he was home she was just laying on the floor. We noticed that the side of her face was swollen so we made the decision to take her to the ER. Now we knew that she has slowed down a lot over the last 3 years and all she really wanted to do was sleep and that dreaded time was coming. When we got to the clinic they took her back while we filled out the paperwork. During that time they drained the swollen area which turned out to be an abscess from chronic ear infections that she has had her whole life. When the Vet came back she basically told us the tech would come in with an estimate for treatment. When we saw the estimate it was over $650... But here’s the kicker; they had already drained the abscess so they had the sample in their hand and wanted to charge us $85 for the Vet to “look at it under a microscope” to get a better idea of the type of bacteria that was causing her infection. The they wanted $250 to send the sample in for a culture and another & $200 for antibiotics. Now we tried to explain to the vet that our beloved pet was well past her life expectancy and we didn’t want to spend a lot of money to extend her life 1-6 months and keep her suffering.Essentially the Vet guilt tripped us to doing the antibiotics and seeing if she responds (which we didn’t think she would). Well, we were right. She stopped eating and moving all together over the next two days and we ended up having put her down on Saturday. All we would have needed to hear was that the vet or technician believed that she was close to death and that putting her down wasn’t bad or wrong decision based on her age and health history. But instead the Vet gave no real input and cared more about that money than the animal or customer!!!If you feel it’s that time, don’t feel guilty!!! Your pet will let you know!!! Trust your instincts!!!PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t bring your pets here!!!
Amazing staff amazing doctors . Clean clinic and really fast service. Been my dream place to work as a vet assistant . Keep up the amazing work.
I was very nervous about coming here for our follow up. My husband brought my dog here for emergency services and I had read the reviews. I had a great experience. My vet tech Jaclyn was very kind and caring and my vet was great! She didnt push any treatment/procedures on us, just gave us our options. She took time to listen and I really appreciated that. We are new to the area and have had trouble finding a good vet. I was very pleased with my service today.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were seen quickly and were very pleased.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They left us in the room waiting for about an hour wait for the vet. They charge $85 for an exam that basically just checks your dogs temperature and teeth. Took our dog in because he was throwing up, not eating or drinking, and was restless. They told us that they need to do more tests that will cost between $550-$650 for blood test and X-ray. Then, they dont know what is wrong with him so they want to keep him overnight and give him fluids for $1,300-$1,500. That doesnt mean that they will know what is wrong with him. The Assistant was very rude and unprofessional. While we are at the vet worried about our pet trying to get him better, she was speaking poorly about us to others without even closing the door so we could hear her whole conversation. Additionally, she wasnt knowledgeable about anything. She was very slow and kept asking others for help. Its ridiculous how much they charge for the little attention, knowledge, and respect they give you and your pet. Please dont take your pet to Pima pet clinic if you care about your pet.
I am extremely picky when it comes to my animals, I took my dog here first during an emergency, and they informed me that my dog needed a surgery. I took her elsewhere for a second opinion, and the second place agreed and wanted to charge me 2X what Pima Pet Clinic was going to charge me for the surgery. I got the surgery done with Pima, and they are great you can call them any hour of the day if you have any concerns/questions. They are nice and knowledgeable people, and in my opinion they one of the cheapest emergency vets out there (my regular vet even said that when I called them during this process). I am going back here if I ever have another emergency and I encourage others to do so as well.
I should have just gone to Pima Pet Clinic Emergency in the first place. The only reason I didnt is because it is farther away than another emergency vet clinic that I will now no longer go to. I would rather drive the distance to get the customer care, PET CARE and veterinary services in a timely manner, that all of our pets deserve. Last nights kindness and caring office staff, vet techs and veterinarians made me a returning client after last nights experience. They are going through remodel but that did not hinder their services one bit. I look forward to its completion and the future pet care of my fur babies. Charlie the whippet and I (the distraught mom) are very thankful for your care and support when Southern Arizona Emergency Vets failed us miserably. That will be the next review I am about to write.
Left me on hold for hours only to hang up on me
Cared more about the money and less about the patient...Made us feel awful when we told them that we didnt have enough money to pay for the full treatment. We took my sisters dog because we found her chewing on a cactus...they charged us more than $300 and when she got out of surgery we checked her mouth and she still had pieces of cactus in her mouth.... awful place I wouldnt recommend it.
We had a sick dog. We were greeted immediately and did not have to wait long. All the staff were professional and friendly and the facility was bright and clean. We were given several options for treatment. We were very pleased!
I took my diabetic cat in for an annual exam. The receptionist, Kim, was very kind. We saw Dr. Parker and she did a thorough exam and did not keep me waiting. She was gentle with Whiskers. All the staff was nice and friendly. I will return when we need to go and I will recommend them to others. Thanks Pima Pet Clinic!
I took my English Bulldog Bela to Pima Pet Clinic for her annual exam and shots. We got her from Luv A Bull Rescue in Gilbert. Dr. Parker and her staff were fabulous. Bela has had many eye problems in the past and she gets very agitated when anyone gets close to her eyes. Dr. Parkers love and compassion totally put Bela at ease. I was extremely impressed by the dedication and commitment to her well being that was shown. I recommend Dr. Parker and Pima Pet Clinic to all of my friends and acquaintances every chance I get. They are truly caring professionals.
Cold, callous, cruel to your pet. Pet owner BEWARE! We took our sick dog in. We were seen quickly but the tech was unkind, impatient, and condescending. When the vet came in she had a preconceived idea about us. They took my dog in the back and we could hear him wailing through the door. Her first comment when she brought him back and she made mention of what I heard and made an excuse about his loud noise. My dog proceeded to wail unconsolably as though he was trying to tell us something. It was heartbreaking. The next day he was so sick, he had difficulty breathing and was falling down, leaning on walls and acting as if his head was swimming. Sadly we had to put him to rest. PLEASE BEWARE
Took my puppy there after finding her unresponsive in the yard. When we brought her in she was awake and alert but it was as if she was paralyzed, as she couldn’t even pick her head up. Told this the receptionist and she was nothing but attitude. Took us to a room and second girl also gave me attitude as she stared at me with judgment as if I had done something to my pup. The doc was no different. She went to pic up my puppy to see if she really couldn’t stand and just let’s her fall to the ground!!! Then says she needs to be admitted to run tests so she can TRY and see what happened. Gave me an estimate of over $1,500. I couldn’t afford that so I ask if we should put her down. Vet declined and said she wouldn’t allow me to put her down. To say I was dissatisfied is an understatement. I’ll never return to the clinic and I would strongly recommended others to do the same.
The vets are very compassionate and truthful. You can have your pet seen anytime day or night. Price is more than other vets.Dr. Parker and Dr. Knight have been taking care of my dog for over 10 years. I am extremely happy with them and their service.
If only I could give this place 0 stars. Came home to our 10 week old pug with his eye out of its socket bleeding. We rushed him to the only place open on Labor Day, Pima Pet Clinic; unfortunately. They immediately brought him back to assess the damage. They told us they wouldnt be able to salvage his eye, so they would have to remove it. We knew this was going to be a huge hurdle financially but I would have thought they would at least have the compassion to figure something out.... ANYTHING to at least ensure he did not have to suffer and we could make payments which I would have been able to do. The bill came out to $2,500. We were denied the Care Credit Card and they told us we would have to shop elsewhere. We spent 3 hours outside their clinic calling around to find him some sort of resolve. Eventually we told them we couldnt find the funds. They brought him out with his eye hanging out with antibiotics, painkillers, and saline eye drops (which I paid for $200) and sent us on our way. This was all in front of a group of people in the lobby. We wanted to get him surgery TODAY; and as salt to the wound, they had us sign a waiver stating that we decided to not treat him and that we would treat him ourselves against the clinics opinion. If you ever have a pet emergency, please avoid this place.
We took our dog in late one night after a rattlesnake bite, the staff was courteous and compassionate and we were very glad they took such good care of her. She has made a full recovery and the bill was less than the estimate. I recommend them.
The staff was very helpful and attentive to me and my pup. They made sure he was all set before leaving and went above and beyond with what they did for us. Andrea was especially helpful. Thank you!
So where should I began. So I brought my dog in who was having seizures. They seen her right away and took her to the back. While we were waiting about 45min to a hour the dr came in telling us that basically since our dog is a boxer shes prone to be getting seizures. So she had a list of all the things that they were going to do to her and gave me a estimate on how much it was going to be. She said it was going to be $1500 and $1200 down. So me and my wife agreed to it and payed them the $1200. So they talked to us a bit more and said they would contact us and update us. So me and my wife went in the car and thought about it and said we need to see our dog one last time because we dont know what was going to happen. So we go back in and ask the girl in the front desk if we could see our dog. She said that she didnt want us to get her all riled up. So basically no. So we left to burger king and talked it over and said that this isnt right on how they went about the whole thing. So we went back over to the clinic and wanted to see our dogs progress. So they gave us the run around for about a hour and we got fed up with all the bs. So I told my wife were going to go to the front desk and tell them we wanted our dog and to just charge us for what they did for her. Then all hell broke loose. They all became rude and kept giving us the run around till I said I just want my dam dog. Finally 2 hrs later they racked up our bill and charged us $600 for supposedly the work they did for her. And they brought our dog out still discombobulated. Theres alot more stuff that took place but to long to text it all. Worst experience in my life. Unprofessional and not friendly at all. They cared more about the money than the well being of my pet. Please dont take your animal here
Ive taken my pets here when my regular vet is closed. They have been positive, upbeat, and professional every time. I went yesterday after my old girl got a bone jammed in her mouth, and I was sure it would be expensive for them to cut it out. In fact, they were able to work it free without the extra stress or expense, and (frankly) for less cost than I expected. I could hear them coaxing my dog and exclaiming over her being so good and so patient while they did what they needed to do. She came back to me without signs of undue stress, and has been fine ever since. Those who complain of the prices here: this is AN EMERGENCY CLINIC. It will always be more costly than a regular visit, the same as if you go to the Emergency Room for your own sudden-onset health problem vs the cost to see your regular doctor.None of us want our four-footed family members to suffer needlessly. I do not come to this clinic unless I need to, but I am deeply grateful they are available 24/7 when my pets have to be taken care of immediately.
We had to take our Husky in emergently on a Sunday. It looked to everyone that he had been bitten by a snake. He was not doing well. Although they ended up finding that he had an infected wound and not a snake bite, the staff did an amazing job with our little guy. Its now Tuesday. Hes healing from surgery but back to his old self. Thank you so much to Dr. Olsen-Mikitowicz and all of the staff and Pima Pet Clinic! We cant thank you enough!
Over the years, I have brought all of my dogs into Pima Pet for various emergency situations. From snake bites to accidental ingestion of rat poison to run-ins with Colorado river toads, the care provided to my dogs has been exceptional. I recommend Pima Pet whenever there is an emergency. Thank you for taking good care of my dogs!
If I could give this clinic zero stars I would. Complete lack of compassion, complete lack of empathy. They are also rude, rude, rude!!!!!As a former veterinary technician in this town, I also question the standards of their medical care. Took my foster kitten in for an emergency hernia repair last night. Verbally communicated that I was planning on keeping this kitten and that I would be willing to pay for emergency care if necessary. The technician who checked me and did not pass on this vital communications to the veterinarian. Also repeatedly verbalized to me that my kitten suffered trauma with the innuendo that I caused it.When the kitten took a turn for the worse this communication was also not passed on to the foster program’s vet and a decision was made to euthanize her without ever contacting me or giving me an option to intervene. There was a delay in communication and a delay in care which contributed to this outcome.
This is by far, the best Veterinarian in town. I highly recommend using this business for all your veterinarian needs. Dr. Knight is the Best!
Took very good care of my elderly cat
I chose to ignore the bad reviews, dont make that mistake. My cat needed an emergency spay due to Uterine infection, well this place shows me an estimate of up to $3000 to spay my cat. Crazy to charge $100 for an IV, $100 for a catheter, ultrasound and x-ray both? No option to just do the surgery. I called ahead to get a very rough estimate of what it would cost, told the spay could be $600 (which surprisingly I think it was on the estimate) just didnt include all the other BS fees.
Reception was nice, never got to see a vet. If you go in for an emergency appointment be prepared for a very long wait. Im not talking 20-30 minutes, I talking about hours.
Absolute worst care for your pets that you can find. If I had listened to Pima Pet Clinic my dog would be dead. My dog was hit by a car and when I took her to this Pet Emergency Center they couldnt help her. Though they easily racked up $1,000 in bills for blood tests and cleaning her up, their great recommendation was for me to drive 2 hours to Gilbert to have a Board Certified Surgeon extract her tail and perform surgery on her wounds. They told me that there was only 1 Surgeon in all of Tucson who could perform the surgery and that they tried to contact them but were unsuccessful. I left their office with a big bill, a bandage on my dogs backside that was not secure and falling off, and a feeling that the Pima Pet Clinic Dr. lied to me.Luckily my brother-in-law called me before I started off to Gilbert with my severely injured pup, and he recommended me to call the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson. I gave them a call and wouldnt you know they have 4 Board Certified Surgeons on staff, and no one from Pima Pet Clinic contacted them that morning on my behalf. Long story short, I headed over to VSCT right away and they performed the necessary laser surgery and saved my dog.I went so far as lodging an official complaint about the Pima Pet Clinic to the State Veterinary Board, an Investigation ensued but unfortunately since the actual case review took place in Phoenix I wasnt able to travel up there and appear at the review. Pima Pet Clinic had an attorney represent them and not surprisingly the board decided against filing a citation against the practice.Quite a sham that the State Board would protect a practice that so many people in the community complain about. I would give them a 0 rating if that was an option. Greedy, liars, and worst of all they dont put your pets care as their primary concern.
