I moved to the Tucson area about 6 months ago. I have been to the vet office 5 or 6 times now. They are always helpful, kind, considerate and professional. Rarely is the wait long, and if it is, they keep you informed and let you know when your pet will be seen. As a hospital they are going to give you the top options for your pet. However, the vet is open to helping you make the right decision for you and your pet. No judgement if you choose to go with less tests, etc. And you are given time to make the decison, no rush or pressure. Both Dr. Johns and Dr. Waters patiently and thoroughy explain your options. The techs are willing to answer any questions and/or ask the doctor. All the staff are friendly, helpful and compassionate.I had contacted a few other vet offices before finding VCA as I have a couple of special needs cats and did not receive feed back on my questions or concerns from the other offices. VCA was immediately responsive and I am extremely thankful I found them.

I had an offer in the mail for a free first exam, so I brought my puppy here for her first vaccinations and everyone I spoke to was so friendly and knowledgeable and very obviously loved their jobs! Even with the curbside appointments, I still felt like we were taken care of and my puppy was in loving hands. I look forward to going back!

You could tell they were a bit harried as they were extremely busy, but they were very kind and helpful. They also very much knew what they were doing- very knowledgeable. Don’t know what we would have done without them! Also, so far as I can tell they are the ONLY one that has emergency services for birds, so Kudos to them for providing that much needed care!

The front desk lady, Devon (I hope that’s how she spells her name), is absolutely AMAZING. I love VCA Animal Hospital. I use them as my primary care vet. ANYTIME I have concerns (a scare of some sort) or any questions, big or small, in town or when I’m on vacation out of state; I’ve gotten amazing communication from the vets and vet techs. They have gone above and beyond to answer my concerns to make sure I don’t have to walk in or give me complete ease on my vacations.I absolutely appreciate Devon for helping me through my very stressful morning.THANK YOU DEVON, you’re a beautiful soul. ❤️

We took our brand new rescue to Dr. Johns and were really impressed. We are travelers, so it can be difficult to find an outstanding vet along the way. We were really happy with our visit. The staff was great as well. They filled us up with all sorts of important information regarding our new dog. We will be coming back next year when we visit Tucson. Highly recommend!

Took my do in with a growth on his abdomen, they wanted to do 1200 dollars in tests before offering any treatment, and packed the invoice with as many unnecessary tests as possible. Ultimately I took my dog to another local vet, and they fixed him up for 60 bucks with antibiotics. They never mentioned that antibiotics was an option..... or gave me any options accept draining my bank account. No vet should be this expensive, what are they doing on the east side charging that kind of doe?

The staff always friendly, responsive, kind. Dr Metzger has been taking care of all of my dogs for years and I have been very pleased with the care. Appointments are easy to schedule, the fees for services are clearly explained. As a dedicated pet owner, they give you options to fit your budget. A great place to bring your pet!! Everyone here is incredibly nice and helpful, I can’t say enough good things about the doctors and the staff. I’ve been taking my dog and cats there for six years now and they have been fantastic, they always manage to fit me in ASAP, there is very little wait time, their facility is spotless and most importantly their care has been wonderful. The doctors are great about speaking with me through every step of my animal’s treatment, making sure I understand the issues and I’m OK with the next step of the treatment. They even saved the life of one of my cats when he became very ill, and try to save me money whenever possible. I’m extremely grateful for the care that Dr. Metzger, Dr. John’s and the staff at VCA animal Health hospital has provided.

Best vet in Tucson by far. Previously went to two other vets that just didnt quite fit our family. As soon as we went here I got such good vibes. All the staff is very friendly and compassionate. Dr. Johns and Nikki, the vet tech that assisted us, were so great with both our dogs and made sure to explain everything to us thoroughly about what would be on the bill so there werent any hidden fees or underestimation for the full price, as we had previously experienced at another vet. Both our dogs loved the staff and even got toys to take home! I would HIGHLY recommend this vet to any family who want great care for their little fury kids.

I recently moved to Tucson from out east and really wanted to make sure I found a good vet for my two dogs. I wasnt certain being that the vet hospital seemed like a larger facility and possibly impersonal like some bigger facilities are. Well that couldnt be farther from the truth from the moment I walked through the door with my husky, Juneau we were greeted with a smile and helped right away. The front office was clean and the facility did not smell of animals at all. We went back to our room and was greeted by the vet tech who was very friendly as well. He sat on the floor with my dog and looked him over. I could tell the tech really cared about Juneau and even gave him a treat after asking of course. Then the vet came in who was again super friendly and greeted both me and Juneau. She looked him over and reviewed some of my concerns directly. I felt like she was talking to me and not at me. Explained everything in detail too. She found an ear infection in Juneaus ear and even showed my a video about cleaning my dogs ears appropriately. I just cannot say enough good things about this vet hospital. Thank you all so much for making me and my dog feel so important!

I can not say enough about this place and the staff, they are simply amazing! Everything they do is full of compassion, loving and understanding. You can feel the love they have for all animals and treat your pet as if he/she were their own. Got me and my puppy in right away and made sure I was comfortable with the treatments we were getting ourselves into. Everyone was especially sweet to my pup and she even got a new toy when leaving. I would highly recommend to anyone.

We had the most comforting and tender experience when we brought ourcat in for emergency treatment. The staff was so caring and patientat this sad time, that we were overwhelmed by the experience.We would never hesitate to bring our animals to Animal Health Hospital knowing they will be cared for professionally and personally.And if their attention and compassion were not enough, they alsodisplayed veterinary knowledge to a high degree.

Pros: 1. Clean place. 2. They have safe rooms for owners and pets (not have to worry about pets barking or hissing at each other).Cons: 1. Nurses dont give you the welcoming look. They look serious, I hardly see a smile. The only smile I got from my last visit was when I was about to pay. 2. Its all for business. Doctors, dont answer your questions if you didnt pay full amount of service. Their reason is, they didnt do an exam. (thats how I feel)Overall: Its a nice, safe and clean environment. They have a good service, but only if you can afford it.

The entire staff was extremely supportive when we had to put one of our dogs down, definitely went above and beyond. The vet is the most caring vet Ive ever had. Dealt with our huge, standoffish and extremely nervous/growly mastiffs beautifully and better than I ever expected. The expertise and compassion of this clinic has made us lifelong patients.

My wife and I have taken our cats to Animal Health Hospital for over 10 years now and love the staff and the excellent care that we receive. We love both the expert medical care and the personal touch that everyone there gives us. They have always given us the best care. The facility is state of the art and it shows in the pride the staff has and the easy, friendly way they treat us every time we visit.

Dr. Sherry Johns was the most patient and kind vet I have come across in my short time as pet owner. My boy, Yogi is not the easiest dog to deal with or the bravest but Dr. Johns made him feel safe and comfortable. What I like her the most was, she listens to what I have to say... all my concerns and worries. She is very knowledgeable and true professional. My Yogi and Sassy loves her.

Watch out for added charges. I asked the vet a question they charged me $30 extra. My friend was overcharged for his dogs medication. I will not be taking my dog back this vet. They need to inform of the approximate costs before hand. My new vet in Tucson does, open 24/7, and the staff is nicer.

I took my 15 year old dog in to be put down and next to losing my beloved, this was the worst experience of my whole life!! These people are not compassionate or caring at all, all they cared about was getting paid! I was told that all payments would be handled PRIOR to anything being started, but that was NOT the case!! I was interrupted in the middle of my final moments with my beloved in order to pay my bill!! What kind of a veterinary clinic does this?When the tech administered the sedative, he said this doesnt hurt, but she let out the biggest yelp ever and tried to bite, she NEVER behaves like this, the tech said huh, that never hurts! HOW DO YOU KNOW????After the final medication was administered, The vet and the tech sat there squeezing all 4 of her paws (it looked painful) in order to get the medication circulated through her system. After she was gone, I was also told that we could take as much time as we needed, however, that was not the case either, we were not told that we had to leave, but we were made to feel uncomfortable for being there. We were told that when we were ready she would be wrapped up and carried out to my car for me, but then the tech was just standing there staring at me, so I cut my goodbye off and went to get my car! While she was letting go, she ended up having a bowel movement, the feces was NEVER cleaned off of her!! She was placed in a blue transparent body bag and carried out to my car, no box or container! She was sliding around in my trunk!! This is my last memories of her. Every veterinary clinic should treat every animal as if they are their very own, this was not the case here. Im disappointed, heartbroken, and distraught over the final moments with my beloved. This clinic is more expensive than most, save your money and go somewhere else, somewhere where they care!!

We have been taking our English Bulldog to Animal Health Hospital for over 7 years and will never go anywhere else. Disco LOVES Dr Metzger and Dr Johns (and she knows them well as bulldogs are high maintenance and have to go to the vet a lot!) and we are always impressed with vet techs Jesse and Jordan although everyone there is great. Besides the ease of taking our pet in (the layout of the clinic is great), we appreciate that Drs. M and J give us as much time as needed to ask questions and to address our concerns, such as vaccination risks and frequency, and that the practice can refer you to the best specialists if needed. This is not a high volume, cookie cutter place - it is a practice where you will experience competence and compassion.

The front desk lady asked us to put our 2 large dogs on the scale, neither of them were on board. One of my dogs is a mastiff over 120 lbs and my Shephard mix just laid down and started crying. The front desk lady blasts my ignored us. We struggled with them for 5 minutes and the lady never offered to hold them or provide treats to help. I had to specifically ask for someone to help us before she asked one of the many available staff standing in the back to assist. It took 3 of us to get my mastiff on the scale. So rude. I wanted to leave as soon as I walked in the door. I would give zero stars if possible.

Came to these guys through a friend referral after having issues with my long time vet. I could not have been happier with the service I received here! From the moment I first called until I walked out to my car, we just had the best experience. Truly some great folks working here that care about your fur babies and give them the attention and love a family member would. I appreciate the fact they presented me with all my options up front, helped me through the decision making process and had no judgments about my decisions. Customer service is top notch, everyone was beyond accommodating for me and my pups...we can put on quite a show sometimes. LOL. I am VERY happy to have found this place and these wonderful people to care for my pets!

We needed a vet quickly as our older Dog came down with a bad skin problem over the weekend. I called the VCA animal hospital on Harrison, and was able to schedule him for Monday. Our neighbor suggested the VCA, as its her vet too.We took our Wilson in and the staff was very kind and helpful. I had my 2 kids with me too,an older child in a wheelchair, and a toddler.They immediate had a room for us, and we were treated very quickly without having to wait around to be seen, Doctor Johns is who we saw and she is AMAZING. Best vet experience weve ever had. He ended up getting an antibiotic shot which we gladly chose over having to give pills everyday, and we went home with typed out instructions of how to treat the skin area and also antiseptic wipes for fighting infection. And then Wednesday Doctor Johnss took time to Call and check in on Wilson. He is healing up so well now, his skin looks so much better already! They also were so good with my kids and not only smiled and interacted with my toddler and helped explain to her about our dog ( my little girl was in tears worried over our Wilson) they took the time to let her use the stethoscope and listen to his heart beat too, she loved that! They also spoke to my non verbal son. Which is extra special because often times people dont know what to say or do.. but he was all smiles in response.So Id highly recommend this vet. They are not overly expensive either, no more than any vet cost.

Horrible pricing... staffing are nice facility is nice hope you have ALOT of money! Follow up visits are super expensive too... you would think if I paid 500+ on treatment that the follow up would be included... NOPE!

We were in a panic due to a giant growth on our dogs chest. We had assumed it was a goiter or a tumor. Without an appointment, they were able to squeeze us in. Long story short, it only ended up being an abscess. They were able to diagnose and explain to us what was going on and what steps were needed. The counter girl, the vet assistants, and Dr. Sherry Johns were excellent. Sure, I wish my bill was less than it was but we received nothing but the best treatment from beginning to the end. All of the charges were fair, they just added up quick. We plan to bring in our other dog and cat for checkups. Thank you Animal Health Hospital.

I love the staff, Dr. Metzger and Dr. Johns are both very knowledgeable vets and speak in a language that you understand. They give you all the information that you need to make an informed decision on what you can do for your pet. We had an older Pug that was having serious arthritic pains in her hips and shoulders and after a thorough exam we were given not only the expensive option for tests and surgeries to try to help her, but were also given options to better her quality of life and help with pain management so we could enjoy her another 2 years that was well within our budget. They have taken good care of all my animals since and I dont trust my animals to anyone else. Thanks to you and your staff you get 5 stars from our family.

Pretty suspicious all these “5 star reviews”...wonder how many are legit? This place has the long running reputation for being ALL about the money! This place belongs up in the foothills with the people with endless pockets....These guys are one of THE most expensive vets! Certainly NOT your affordable neighborhood vet clinic.(Staff and doctors have their “moments”, But lack true compassion for the business they are in.)Interesting, that when I was calling around to find a more affordable vet, most of the places I called, said this place was “really pricey”! 😬(And boy..... you don’t want to have to see them on an emergency basis... because you will have to mortgage your home)

I cannot say enough about the entire staff of VCA. The experience is full of compassion and kindness from Susan to Nikki to Dr Metzger. We had moved to NC leaving VCA and when we returned we lived on the other side of town so we went to another vet for convenience. Our Rocco got cancer which was devastating for us. The vet we were going to was so mean and cold and basically told me I was lucky it wasnt my family member. I actually started crying which only fueled her more. I quickly hung up and called VCA. They have never been anything but wonderful, compassionate, fantastic and loving to us and our family members. We have pit bulls and Dr Metzger gets right on the floor with them and plays. When we lost Rocco and wanted to adopt a special needs dog, Nikki spent time talking to the rescue and made sure we were able to adopt our new family member Odin. We are forever grateful to this entire office and would never make the mistake of leaving again. The absolute best vet office we have ever been to in Tucson, North Carolina, New York and Virginia. We have seen all the vets in this office and the vet assistants and have not one complaint. Worth the drive!!!!!

We’ve been to a couple other vets in the area and this is by far our favorite and now the only one we’ll use! I have a puppy and a 3 year old who has anxiety. They take great care to reduce her anxiety. This is definitely one of those places where you get what you pay for!

Im very suspicious of all these good reviews! Took my dog there with a Kennel cough I found out later. This Vet came out and was not at all friendly to our dog and did not even examine him. But proceeded to tell me that they would show us a list of all the things it could be and we could decide how to proceed. Seriously? I told the tech later that I expect the Vet to know based on his education and experience of what the problem might be. Not give me a list of over a thousand dollars worth of procedures to pick to start to determine what it might be. I Left! This place only cares about their bottom dollar. Ive experienced this before from other Corporate Vet Chains. I only went here because it was close by. Went back to my old Vet and after examining him she promptly told me it was kennel cough. Gave us some Meds and it was gone in less than a week. Charged like 60 some dollars. Stick with a good local Vet and stay away from Chains.

I took my cat, Cali, to Animal Health and met Dr. Metzger. He is an excellent vet and a compassionate man. After a thorough examination and testing, he explained in detail the problems that he saw in her test as well as his treatment and expected results. I find his methods innovative and am happy to report that I saw immediate improvement in Cali within a day of starting treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Metzger, and his wonderful staff at Animal Health Hospital.

I called Tuesday after work wasnt expecting to get in to see the vet. They had me come right down. The whole entire staff was AMAZING!!! They were very honest from the beginning and bery honest! We have three dogs that are our children and we live way out in the desert, so there is never a dull moment, dog wise. We trust Dr. Metzger and his staff above all others. He has saved our dog Cuate from a rare infection that threatened to kill him. He treated my dog Lupa, who went everywhere I went for over 12 years. I have seen a lot of veterinarians over the years, but none compare to Dr. Metzger.

We are so happy to have found Drs Kipp Metzger and Sherry Johns and the Animal Health Hospital! As winter visitors to Tucson, we needed a trusted vet for our dog, Emma. Kipp and Sherry and their entire team are extraordinary. They are state of the art in terms of science and technology, and their bedside manner is terrific. Weve referred them to three other pet owners who also have been very well pleased with the care and attention their dogs received at AHS. Even though were in Tucson for only part of each year, AHS has been our main veterinary resource for the past 2 years, and will remain so. Simply put, they are the best providers of animal health services weve experienced. And Emma loves them!

Let me start by saying that Dr. Kipp Metzger is an amazing veterinarian and a very kind, compassionate man. His staff is also wonderful. I have never had a bad experience at Animal health Hospital.My Siamese mix, Bogie was having some serious tummy problems and although he eats like a horse, he was losing weight at an alarming rate, so I took him to see Dr. Kipp. After the tests, there were a few possibilities, so we went with the one that started him on meds immediately and decided that if he was not improving within 48 hours, we would pursue a more aggressive route.During the next 48 hours, the improvement was almost too good to be believed. We had a follow up over the phone 2 days later and he was pleased with the news I shared. We scheduled another appointment for a second shot and to weigh the little guy.At the follow up today, we found out that Bogie gained a whole pound in 2 weeks. He’s tiny to begin with, so that is a good thing. Dr. Kipp completed the treatment and we were on our way. I was so happy with the outcome I had a goofy smile on my face the whole ride home.I am incredibly grateful that Dr. Kipp is as thorough as he is. The first visit was rather long but I knew it would be worth the wait. He wanted to get to the bottom of the issue and I had no problem waiting for an answer, which I knew I would get.Dr. Kipp has never let us down. He and his staff offered me coffee and gave my cat a litter box so we were both comfortable. I have 2 cats, and Dr. Kipp will always be their vet; nothing but the best for my boys.

I brought my cat in right at closing with an emergency injury. Dr. Johns and her staff not only treated my cat, but saved me at least $1,000 in ER vet costs. Needless to say, were huge fans!

I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences, I have even referred my sister and my parents here for their pets.
