My sister and I stayed here the semester that COVID all started and classes went online. Honestly, hated this place.Pros:- Nice roommates- Close to campus- Decent PricingCons:- Parking is a NIGHTMARE. They are tight and our car got hit like 3 times and no one ever confessed to hitting it. Plus they do not plow it during winter so you have to drive through 3 feet of snow.- No washer and dryers in apartments- No AC- Ward was antisocial and Bishop was so RUDE. Whenever we left to visit home, the Bishop would tell us we were in the wrong and had to attend our ward every week.- The apartments are small and dirty.- There were nails and hair all over the carpet.- Bathrooms are literally right next to each other which is weird. We had paid for both Winter and Spring semester when COVID hit. I contacted the management and explained that due to personal and family high-risk chronic disease, I could not medically live there for spring semester but would finish paying for the winter semester. They IGNORED my calls, messages, and emails. When they finally responded they said they could not do a refund and I would have to pay in FULL for the spring semester. I had to go through the schools housing department to get out of the lease.I would not advise anyone to stay here. My sister and I both hated it.

WORST WORST APARTMENT EVER. All the good reviews about management and the landlord are about the old landlord, that I enjoyed. The new one is TERRIBLE. After multiple interactions with her I have never met anyone more rude and disrespectful. The apartments are old grimy gross and look NOTHING like photos online. Sinks dont drain, paths wet and freeze, dirty roommates.

I moved into my apartment at the beginning of the semester to find it completely filthy and in disrepair. The carpets were soiled, the tub and toilet black, the kitchen filthy, the fridges unclean, the bed frame covered in dust, the blinds broken, the bathroom drawer broken, and the stench of the apartment which was nearly unbearable. I notified my manager during the first day there of these issues and only the blinds and bathroom drawer were fixed.I understand these are the cheap apartments, but paying $1,800/month for this unit means me and my roommates expected better from them. I expected things to be at least clean and for them to keep it in good repair. For heaven sakes, the loose roof shingles from their roof are still hanging in the trees.I dont recommend living here. It might be cheap, but they are still robbing the students blind.Edit -When I lived there, I got to go look at the model unit next door to my apartment with my roommates. I was impressed how nice it was--new fixtures, carpet, beds, fridges, couches, etc.... The unit they show is in pristine condition and so their pictures are misleading. Ive attached photos of the condition of the apartment when I moved in. Notice the shower and the carpet. Im one to go barefoot in my home but here I could not with how grimy the carpet and shower were. And again, the only things addressed were the blinds and the drawer.

I lived there for 2 semesters and the first was okay. With the price, you would expect a decent apartment to find so many issues there. The parking lot is in okay condition if it is not the winter, with the snow and ice it is a nightmare. Then with how rude the management was with the Corona virus, I was not happy to live there for my second semester. I will not recommend any of Rexburg Housing to anyone. So heres the deal, I like living here and they got a maintenance guy who actually does things. The carpet in one of the rooms has smelled like cat pee since Ive lived here, about 4 semesters. according to old roommates it also smelled that way before I lived here. One of the ladies who does clean check has been telling them they needed to replace the carpet and pad for a long time and it wasnt until we hounded them that anything got done about it. The complex manager doesnt have any power over rent or laundry etc. Its the company that owns the complex. We have to use an app to do laundry and only get a certain number of credits. Most of the time its not enough for me and I have to spend out of my own pocket to do laundry my last couple of weeks even though the website professes to include laundry. I lived somewhere that was almost 400$ cheaper and we never had to worry about an app or spending money besides what we paid for rent to do laundry. There also isnt a ton of storage space in the apartments, mostly in the bedrooms. There arent shelves above the beds like a lot of other places have so you have to get creative with where you put things. The same goes for kitchen stuff, you have to get kind of creative. The mattresses are really hard and I had to buy something extra to make the mattress a little softer and a nice pillow to help my neck and back. For some reason not all the doors have deadbolts either, I had to request one to get one on our door. There isnt any air-conditioning either. We have Roku and a gym and stuff, but I would rather have the apartments be a little nicer than pay for that extra stuff.Thats the stuff I dont like, but there are also some good things. The people are really friendly and the wards are awesome! The complex manager is very nice and is willing to work with you and theres always candy in the office. Maintenance is prompt and gets the job done well when you put a request in. We have two fridges, lots of space for toiletries, a nice sized living room closet for extra storage, and its nice to have some trees and grass close where you can go chill under when the weather is nice. I stay cause I really love my Bishop Brick, which matters a lot to me.It really depends on what your looking for in a complex and maybe by the time you live here some of that will change, who knows.

I have lived here for 3 semester and I absolutely hate this place. The carpet has nails that sitck up out of the floor, is incredibly dusty because the vaccuums dont work and the carpet has waves in it. I had to fold a portion of the carpet over so my desk would sit flat. The washers and dryers that we have to go to are always broken. It is because they never clean out the air vents to the outside (not the lint catchers, but the exhaust pipe). On MOVE IN DAY they were doing CONSTRUCTION on the STAIRS! We were not allowed to go up a particular flight and I had to walk all the way down and back just to bring in all my stuff. They didnt let students out of their spring contract but gave them an option to spend nearly $500 to transfer it to another semester even though they were in violation of the contract.Right now they are doing construction on the parking lot. They start at 7 every morning with dumptrucks and backhoes tearing it up. We are all cranky and tired of waking up to this every morning. This is incrediblly distracting when trying to do online classes because you cant hear. They refused to admit Covid was a thing several months ago but made us sign wavier forms before this semester. All they want is money and they dont care about their residents at all. They crammed us clear full with 6 to an apartment and my roommate has covid. The fridge leaks, the bathroom has mold, there is no AC and only one desk per room.Somerset, Rexburg Housing, and Redstone Residental should be ashamed of the service that they are providing for students.

I used to love living here, and I think the ward and people here are great. The main reason I am rating this a 2 star is because they changed how laundry worked. Its listed online as being in unit laundry, but that was never a thing and didnt bug me to much to have to walk to them. The biggest problem I have is that we now get limited free uses and then have to pay. The washers and dryers are not very good and wash on wrong tempatures all the time, and even use up your credits without starting, so you end up losing money and they wont do anything to replace it. As far as Im aware, they dont even own the machines, so for all intent and purpose we are using a laundry mat and they list it as coming with the contract when really it doesnt. I would have given it a 5 star in the past, but I find this unacceptable what they are doing. I believe it is dishonest of them.

The managers have always been respectful and helpful. They are concerned with the grounds being kept well and are improving the apartments and starting renovations soon. The womens side looks great.I have lived on both sides of campus, and I noticed a great difference in this side of campus; the people are much more warm and kind. Aside from it being a great location, it has the right people, and that is important to me. I plan on returning from my off-track for my fourth semester here at Somerset. There is a lot I can say about this complex, but the most helpful comment that I can give to potential residents about Somerset is that it feels like a home for me. I doubt that it will be any different for you.One thing that I would love to be improved is the dishwashers. They seem to leave a lot of the cups unrinsed.I also hold price of contracts as my most important decision in choosing my housing. Slow to non existent maintenance. When moving in the apartment was in shambles. Also we went almost an entire month without hot water. All we were asked to do is to coordinate schedules with our roommates plus two other apartments above us. Thats 18 students on one water heater to coordinate with what a joke. Finally after filing a complaint and talking about going into arbitration with the school RH started working with us. We sought what we thought was fair and were only given $100 back. If I personally had not been graduating I would have taken the matter into arbitration with the school. As others have mentioned they take, take, and take but are not willing to really work to improve customer satisfaction. They know that students have to live in approved housing and that students will not stand up to them on matters, even when RH violates contracts, so management gets away with ramrodding students into just dealing with the poor service. RH claims poverty when talking money but in all reality are just tight wads.I understand that it is a business but considering that their business is people they should be doing a lot better. Once their accreditation to be Approved Housing is threatened they will step up their game. Until then you can count on getting the short end of the stick.

Not all apartments are made equal. We had 2 refrigerators and that was a life savor with 6 men in an apartment. The place is nice enough and is cheap on the rent.

I highly recommend staying away from Rexburg Housing. They take forever to get one request done. My roommates had previously requested, fall semester 2017, to have our shower looked at because our water was very hot. Then winter semester 2018, I had requested along with my roommates that they look into it because it still wasnt fixed. I went multiple times to talk to the manger to have her send someone to look at, she said she was ordering a part. She had no idea what part to order because nobody came to look. They will say anything to get you off their back. Then after multiple times of them writing down the request, calling them, talking to them in person, I called Rexburg Housing. They FINALLY sent someone over to look at the water heater and realized we needed a new one. This whole semester my roommates and I were being burnt by the water and had burnt marks left on our bodies. Every 5 seconds or so the water will turn from hot to cold. Because they couldnt send someone over took look at it for a second, we have to suffer. Along with the water heater there is also multiple other problems. We have had a broken drawer, a non working fan over the stove, a broken drawer under the oven, and not to mention the sidewalks that flood every time it rains. Instead of fixing the sidewalks they put pallets which does not help a lot.

I love just having to walk across the street to get to the campus. Two fridges, great ward. has both guys apartments and girls apartment so it makes it a lot easier for certain activites like FHE and potlucks.Just a great place to live at

I loved my roommates and the renovated apartments. The management was not helpful though and the rules of Rexburg Housing are ridicules. I will avoid ALL Rexburg Housing in the future. They try and take as much money from you as possible and dont care about making their tenants happy. When you dont have to deal with management it is like any other place to live and not too bad.

Somerset is super close to campus and ideal for the poor college student just starting out. However, Rexburg Housing has some issues they need to sort out. They tend to nickle and dime you for small things like processing fees (ok, how hard is it for the manager to click submit on a website? $25 worth of trouble? Yeah, no.), pricey parking fees, etc. Maintenance requests take far too long to be resolved, were up to two weeks without hearing anything. Itd be nice if things worked. From a business perspective, I understand that their entire maintenance crew is busy remodeling for the fall, but I would hope that a business would pay more attention to current customers rather than future customers. The place is older than any parent of any tenant. The appliances, hot water, plumbing and laundry room really show it. They have remodeled some apartments and its just what the place needs, but a new paint job doesnt fix how a car runs.

The manager right now is great, people are really friendly, and right across the street from campus. If your looking for an apartment I would stay at Somerset, its not that expensive like other apartments and you get access to all the Rexburg housing things, like the pools and movie room, and a little card that can get you stuff like free hair cuts and 20% off Jamba Juice and other things like this.

Major overhaul is what yall need, the place is straight out of the 70s, with mismatched carpet, cracking walls, bubbly and squeaky floors, bad caulk in the bathrooms, shower heads that look like they were from the 70s corroded and disgusting, pipes that sound like a banshee, and wake the whole apartment when you shower, outlets that wont hold a plug (17 out of 25 in the apartment, has been reported repeatedly for almost a year now, finally they came and replaced 3) stoves from the 80s that smell burnt no matter how often you clean them, manager (marie) that says one thing and do another (though to be fair, she was fired, doesnt change the fact that my contract was screwed up, and I had to pay for her mistake, the least they could do is fix her screw-ups, not charge me for it.....) the list goes on but this is depressing. cost me way more to live here than it could ever be worth. get on the ball this semester and maybe this could come up to three.

The only plus is how close it is to campus and the Tasha the manager. Somerset apartments are one of the many communities that is owned and run by Rexburg Housing. Because they have hundreds of apartments they can do whatever they want. Somerset is old and outdated. The showers have mold growing behind the walls because they arent caulked properly. The heat is radiant electric from the ceiling which means the only airflow in an apartment full of 6 guys is whenever someone opens the front door to go out. The air gets pretty stale and probably unhealthy. The appliances look like they were put in when it was built 50 years ago. The floor has dead spots in it where under the carpet you can tell it has either rotted or just broken. While Tasha, the somerset manager, is pleasant to deal with, Rexburg housing, the mother company, is not. I paid for a semester, as was my contract stipulation, and received a discount for signing a multi-semester deal. After the first semester I got married and wanted to sell my second semester of the deal. After paying the discounted rent, I was informed that in order to sell my contract I would have to sell it at the full price or pay the difference. I could not just sell it at the discounted price I had been given and change the name on the contract. After jumping through all the ridiculous loops they set, I received what I supposed to be my deposit refund and rent refund in the mail. It was a check with absolutely no indication of what it represented; how much was returned rent, how much was my original deposit, and how much I was docked for clean checks or whatever else. All in all, I would never suggest anyone get involved with any of the Rexburg Housing properties. They are all old and the people hard to work with.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! This is no 5 - Star quality place, so dont believe it when you read other reviews! 3 Star quality, 1 star service, 0 star price/quality ratio!Something youll learn is that you will have a great manager, but Rexburg Housing is the devil. Seriously, they own at least 5 apartment complexes and everyone I talk to peer-to-peer, feels like students get the raw end of a lot of bad deals. There really isnt a convenient way to pay rent or for a parking pass. If you dont have a personal check, then you either go by a money order or get stuck with a $11.72 convenience fee for paying online with your card. Seriously? Where have you ever had to pay a ridiculous fee like that ever? Not on Amazon, not on ebay, not anywhere. Only with Rexburg Housing.I only needed a contract for 3 weeks of Summer since I was getting married. I asked about a pro-rated rent or even a week-by-week deal, and all they had for me was No. Youll have to pay the $450 for the duration youll be there. End of story. The worker didnt ask more about my situation nor about how they could work with me. Not to mention $450 for summer session is outrageous compared to everyone else around. Its painfully clear that all they care about is making money, not the comfort or convenience of their tenants. If you really want a good place to live thats worth the money, look to NorthPoint or the Ivy. They arent run by Rexburg Housing and youll pay a little more for substantially more quality.***Addendum***After posting this review, the complex called me and offered me to stay for $200 for the summer. This was much better and I am grateful that they responded to my review. Im also sorry that it took me complaining to get good service. My living conditions in the summer were unsavory to say the least. Somerset is composed of 2 buildings. One womens and one Mens. The womens side is newly renovated. The mens side is a dump. You can read the other reviews for more description on that. I lived with moldy carpet, loud showers, leaks, and a dumpster right outside my window that had to remain open to keep any air flow. The place is in dire need of a renovation .A great place to live is Shelbourne. Its right behind Somerset, a little higher price, but much more for your money. A/C, nice carpet, private rooms, good parking, two laundry areas, etc.... Thats my recommendation. Also, they are NOT owned and operated by Rexburg Housing!!!!

Ive been with somerset for three years now, Ive enjoyed my stay. The current manager is AMAZING, he should get a raise or something for all he does for us. The apartments are right next to campus and so for those going to the austin its super easy and convenient. True this isnt a fancy high price apartments like mountain lofts, however one of the pluses is that you dont attract the kinds of people drawn to pricy places. We have a nice smart TV for every apartment, two fridges and nice optix internet. It would be really cool if they got google fiber *hint hint* as they were one of the first to embrace optix as far as Im aware.TLDR: If living with modest living standards isnt your thing, and having the apartment manager waiting on you hand and foot to do everything for you this probably isnt the place for you then.
