If I could give this place negative I would. The absolute worst people live here and the apartment complex won’t do anything about it. I see people getting arrested here all the time and my lovely neighbors did thousands of dollars of damage to my car by fist fighting on top of it. The apartment complex has not supported me, even after neighbors were threatening my life. DO NOT LIVE HERE

Its clear that theyre understaffed, but you may find it harder to get quick responses. Other than that the amenities are great. Peaceful neighborhood.Update (07/07/2020): upgrading to a 5*. After living here over the past two years, I felt that I could write a better review. I was initially concerned when the management kept being changed out, however since Hawthorne took over the staff has been perfect. All of the staff were always friendly and were eager to help with any problems that arose. Richard and the rest of the maintenance crew were always friendly and responded quickly to any issues that I had(water heater/leaking faucet). The management did recently turn over, however this was due to Emily getting promoted and Madison move on; both of whom were probably the best Ive ever worked with. However, to anyone moving in I assure you that Michael, Kenita, and Kiley picked up where Emily and Madison left off.

2019 Updated Review: Things were going great until they started enforcing new rules. Now you can’t even have a boat in the parking lot or a flag on your balcony. So ridiculous and unnecessary. It’s like living under a strict HOA without the added bonus of owning your own home/property. I can’t wait to move in August...they are going to lose a lot of business to Adara next door.

I dont understand why people have left bad reviews. For me the experience was great. i love the great price for the great location and what you get for it. Beautiful new apartments. The carpet is new and nothing on the walls. I love the dark wood kitchen cabinets and floors. The appliances were great and i love how it included a nice washer and dryer. My ac did stop one summer hot day but i called the emergency number provided and they came within two hours which gave me time to go shopping or eat dinner. i believe the two bedroom apartments are more worth it because it is like only one or two hundred dollars more than the one bedroom apartments. You can make the other room an office or have a roommate. I am at the very back corner where i can see a peak of the highway behind the forest. I thought it might have been a problem at first but it really never was. It becomes normal and never bothered me except for the first two nights. The airplane noises are usual because i have been living in brier creek already. For the location and price and what you get i think is worth it.

I can hear the birds of the neighbor behind me. When the neighbor upstairs flushes, it sounds like water is dripping onto my ceiling. The hallways have not been cleaned in at least a year and there are many spiders taking up residence there. When the apartments were built, someone had the great idea of putting the small PVC piping that runs to the hot water heater inside of a larger PVC pipe. This funnels the noise from the upstairs neighbor into our apartment. The mulch washes onto the sidewalk whenever it rains. The office staff was attentive when I first moved in but over time they have become unresponsive. There is a gate to each entrance and it seems one or the other is constantly out of commission. I dont use the pool because its always crowded.Im moving this Saturday and for almost the whole year there was a large construction dumpster in the parking lot. Speaking of parking, its atrocious. Getting out of the complex in the winter is dangerous. Ice forms at the exit/entrance and there is a somewhat blind curve with fast moving traffic.

Edit: Since my last review, I see that management is indeed renovating kitchens! While this will take some time and only some of the apartments have it (not me sadly), Im so happy to see that theyre doing this! Making great steps forward.Ever since management has changed, its been way better. The staff is friendly and organized. The package situation improved drastically. This management actually checks in our packages, keeps track of them, and sends us an email about it. So far, things are improving with them. The reason Im not rating higher is because of the units themselves. Theyre pretty nice, a great location and a good amount of space. The real issues require some renovation. The kitchen layout is pretty terrible, and the kitchen sink water pressure is frustratingly slow. The drains all seem pretty slow as well. The dishwasher is loud, and the walls are pretty thin, so I can hear my neighbors at times. This hasnt been too much of an issue though.Garbage pick up at the door is fantastic as long as they remember to come (they seem to forget occasionally) and I like the gated community. The gates used to break all the time, but oddly enough theyre been fine lately. If this place got a major renovation (pipes, kitchen, new appliances) it would be a fantastic place with this new management. Unfortunately, pipes would be difficult but new appliances and a new kitchen would do wonders.

The one star earned is for the actual apartment. When I was searching for places to live I fell in love with this place. That feeling has been overshadowed by the HORRIBLE experiences from the last 17 months. We have had nothing but problems since we resigned for 15 months. Like some other people I also had charges for renters insurance that they said I didnt have. My insurance company had an old address for the property management and mailed it to them. Apparently it is too much of a hassle for these people to let us know that the address changed. Instead it is my responsibility to read the lease and recognize that the address is different. They are quick to send a memo if someone leaves their trashcan out too long or parks crooked but they cant send a memo to tell us the address changed. Another thing with the insurance was they tried to tell me that my husband wasnt covered by the policy when he was on it from day 1.They have this attitude like they are better than everyone who lives there.Like many others before me, I have had issues with the security gate and parking as well. My phone number changed and I asked them 3 times to change it in the guest gate and it was never changed. Not that it would have really made a difference since the resident gate was always broken. They put my rent payment into the wrong account 3 or 4 times claiming system errors. I got notes saying that my rent was late and I owed a late fee when I paid my rent on time.I put in a work order for my water pressure being extremely low. It was closed out and never fixed.I cant wait to be done with these people forever. July 27th cant come soon enough.

There are NOT enough parking spaces in the complex for all of the residents. If you go out to a movie or a late dinner, be prepared to walk from one end of the complex to the other to get from a parking space to your unit (which is OK unless theres snow or ice). Also, speaking of snow and ice, the complex is HORRIBLE about snow and ice clean up. Today, three days after a snow event (sleet followed by about 1 inch of snow), the sidewalks are still covered with ice and snow and the parking lot in front of my building is an ice skating rink. The complex could have at least put salt on the sidewalks and in the shaded areas of the parking lot to help melt the ice. This is inexcusable. Finally, the kitchens look nice, but they are the cheapest appliances ever (no-name microwave anyone??). The water pressure from the kitchen sink is awful, and the sink is so shallow that its virtually unusable. It takes 2 minutes to fill a pot of water. If you like to cook like I do, this is very frustrating. I LOVE the layout of the unit I have, but I will not be renewing my lease once its up.

One of my favorite things about the apartment is the 9-foot ceilings, which make the place feel and seem even bigger. The location is amazing. Its kind of feel like I live in a mountain lodge/resort, secluded on the hill. My girlfriend and I decided to apply because the apartments are nice and conveniently located. The staff directed us on how to apply gave us clear directions and explanation of fees involved. We applied for the apartment that was available that fit our needs which at the time was available. It took sometime a week or so to get approved, and fees were explained. 3 days later we were emailed stating that occupants in the unit we applied for were not going to moving out around the date we wanted to move in the unit. Thats ok right no problem, we thought. There were 2 other units available both not what we wanted and more expensive. So we asked could we take a 1st floor unit more expensive by $40-$50 and asked could they match the price of the unit we originally were approved for, the unit that originally was available to us. No there was no help that the Crest could provide, we asked well can the unit be made available at a later date, No there was no date that the Crest could tell us it would be avail. So basically weve paid fees for a place we cannot stay. We are currently scheduled to move out our unit and are in a hurry to find a place in exactly a month. If you do apply here please be aware, you need to give them atleast 2 weeks to approve you if you have less then good credit, they will not honor units to future residence when current residence change there mind, they will not adjust pricing because you were inconvenienced, you have to conform to their terms or be left to apply elsewhere and be out of your application fees.

The apartments look nice but dont be fooled.I lived there for 1 year. The Gate is broke 3 weeks out of the month. The would get it repaired and it would break again within a week and you either had it permanently open or had to use the side entrance. Such a pain in the butt and defeats the purpose of having a secured community.I urge you to check out whats behind the garbage area doors. Often folks think this area is a junk yard and trash will pile rup at 6-7 ft tall. Absolutely disgusting. The PARKING is out of this world Stupid. Id have to walk 2 football fields to get to my apartment on many occasions. There was a dog barking non stop downstairs and it sounded like it was right in my living room making it impossible to get a good nights rest. I complained to the office and even played them a recording. Drug use could be smelled all hours of thr night. Nothing done. They often want to enter your apartment on 1 days notice to do inspections and pest control. Very annoying. My AC unit went down every 60 days. I had so many service calls it was CRAZY. Id often go without AC for weeks due to not being home during the day and I surely didnt want these folks wandering around my apartment without my supervision.I had a packages confirmed delivered to the main office and they never called me, never left me any messages on my door and even claimed they didnt have my package and its yet to be recovered. When they opened the door to look for my package there was a mountain of missed delivery because they dont notify folks why they have a package. Probably one of the laziest apartment complexes Ive ever lived in.I remember them taking a long time completing my credit check and setting me up to move in as well. They didnt return my calls. I thought it was just a one off because the woman was so dang nice. NOPE. I was wrong. They are flat out lazy.I never used the pool because its very small and always crowded, same with the gym.I honestly would love to say something positive because I wouldnt want anyone putting my business down in every aspect but theres not much other than the apartments look nice, the clubhouse was remodeled and now has a pool table and shuffleboard. Its also easy to pay your rent online.

Very disappointing... Its been 2 years here at The Crest, and through all the issues we renewed our lease...We are regretting the decision now, as alot of the issues weve had have come to a head...1. Parking is horrible if you want a parking spot anytime after 4p on any given day2. The security gates are broken almost as soon as they are fixed, (sometimes months and months before theyre fixed) with people speeding through and crashing into them3. We live near the pool and its almost always crowded with people making noise way past the 10p cutoff time, sometimes close to midnight in the summer4. It looks like the first level of our building had their doors repainted a year ago, possibly to make the sample apartment and apartments near it look extra pretty but our door and our neighbors from the second floor and above have not been repainted at all5. We had an issue with ants coming out of an electric socket in our kitchen and the work order was completed without the normal signed note indicating they came into our apartment...But what is MOST frustrating is that after going through the process of deciding to renew the lease, we were charged a $25 fee for failure to provide proof of renters insurance. Insurance that weve had since we moved in and is documented. We were notified to sign, sign, sign the lease, but conveniently told that we were being charged a fee for coverage weve maintained and have proof of (it rolls over automatically yearly)...NOT HAPPY!

Ive been living at the crest for 2 years this month and been dying to get out ever since i moved in. Not because the place isnt nice or the staff isnt friendly, but because I have had to deal with a noisy neighbor since day 1 and management has done nothing about it. Im not talking vacuuming or heavy steps. I mean parties at 2am on a Tuesday night or banging on the floor when our dog rarely barks. We have tried to speak level heatedly to the neighbor, but only received threats and retaliation. We even had to call the cops..after notifying management several time, no action was taken. That being said, there are several other neighbors who have become our close friends but certainly not the guy who lives above us. If you are looking for a new place to live with a decent rent price in brier creek, live here. If you want quiet enjoyment and a staff who stick up for you when needed, look elsewhere.

Review №61

With topics in order of importance to me, heres my review after living here for 2 years in a first-floor unit (two adults, no kids). Im not getting paid for this review, and I dont work for The Crest.- GREAT LOCATION! Youre living at Brier Creek, so youre within a few miles of major retail, restaurants, grocery stores an a nice movie theater (which is being renovated as of July 2016 to include new cushier seating). The Crest is kind of separated from the rest of the apartments in the area, just slightly off the beaten path. Even though Walmart is nearby, Ive never seen a Walmart cart at our apartment complex (someone out there will appreciate this fact). As of this year, you can still enjoy an unobstructed view of the July 4th Brier Creek fireworks from the south side of the apartment complex.- MODERN STYLING. Dark floors (1st floor only?), open layout, island, dark cabinets, large master bath, high ceilings. After living in a place for two years, you start noticing the little flaws, but its liveable. The dishwasher is really loud, but the washer and dryer work perfectly. The paint and carpet is cheap, but plenty of natural light (depending on the unit you choose).- PARKING is plentiful, but it depends on what building you select. We requested a corner unit well-beyond the clubhouse/mailboxes, facing the cemetery, but not right next to Hwy 70/Glenwood (road noise). Even at night, no issues finding parking in this area.- WHAT ABOUT THAT CEMETERY? We really liked it. It was quiet, green, and well-maintained. You have a semi-private half-mile trail to take your morning runs or walk your dog. Its better than looking out your window at the back of another building.- SOLID CUSTOMER SERVICE. Every time I needed help, I got it within one business day. Maintenance requests are turned around quickly.- NOISE? Yes, you will hear your upstairs neighbors. This is typical if youre on a lower-level floor, so you just deal with it. We just think of them as our upstairs family.- VALET TRASH. Im officially spoiled now. You put it outside your door at night, they take it, and you retrieve your empty container in the morning. I just wish we didnt have to pay extra for this service, but apparently this is becoming more common at apartments.- GATE/SECURITY. True, it is often broken, probably by residents rushing the gate. However, if a bad person wants to follow you through a gate, its going to happen -- broken or not. We dont sweat it. I have never felt unsafe here. Its well-lit. Exercise common caution and awareness.- HVAC. Others complained about broken AC units. In two years, our AC and heat has always worked really well.- PACKAGES. Sometimes USPS/FedEx will deliver right to your door. Ive never had any issues with package delivery/retrieval from the office.- POOL. Always crowded in the summer, so we barely used it. I dont get the sense that Crest staff is monitoring residents activities at the pool. It gets loud sometimes, even though our music devices are supposed to be strictly personal (low volume or earbuds).- KIDS. Interestingly, although they have a dog park, there is no playground onsite. There are several nice parks, trails and community centers within a short drive of The Crest.- PET FRIENDLY. We dont have a dog, but there are many dog owners in this complex. For the most part, the residents curb their dogs. Management puts out notices asking people to report others who dont curb their dogs. I would not run barefoot through the grass.- GYM. Its a free, apartment complex gym. Its basic. There are other gyms in the area if you want to pay for a better fitness experience.- AIRPORT. Pro: perfect for frequent flyers. Con: can be noisy. After a while, for us the sound just melted into the background noise.- FOOD TRUCKS. I hope they keep this going - weekly (or almost weekly) theres a different food truck onsite on a weekday night. Nice!- ICE NEAR GATES IN WINTER. I cant believe someone actually complained about this in another review. Its weather, yall. Cmon!

EDIT in response to Shoni Freeman:ICE NEAR GATES IN WINTER. If you could read, I mentioned their irrigation system leaks. There would be zero ice at the entrance if they did not have a faulty irrigation system. That ice is 100% on them and would not be there if they had a good system. Its simple, moron, CMON!!The absolute worst apartment complex that I have ever lived in. In the span of one year, my HVAC unit stopped working NINE times. The majority of the breakdowns occurred in the summer months and it was even 85+ degrees on the thermostat in my apartment for three straight days while I waited for maintenance to come fix it. All of those problems and management would not hire a professional to come fix it. All they would do is send one of their maintenance techs over to my apartment, fill it up with some freon, and be done with it. It was unbearable to live in my apartment when the HVAC unit stopped working during the summer, so I would usually have to stay with a friend for a day or two while maintenance took their time fixing it. Management simply didnt care.Getting out of the complex is especially dangerous in the winter. If you havent been there, the road leading to the Crest is highly traveled and there is a large curve right after the entrance. When leaving, it can be pretty tough to see around this curve unless you nearly pull into the lane of oncoming traffic. Couple this with the fact that water leaks from the irrigation system at the entrance, getting out of this place is very dangerous in the winter months. In January/February of when I lived there, there was usually a sheet of ice at the entrance. Definitely made the morning commute interesting by having to pull out into two lanes of traffic while maneuvering on ice.One of the nice things I noticed when initially touring their complex was the grilling area. I was able to grill just a handful of times when living here because the gas tanks were constantly empty. There are a million kids that live in this complex that run around the parking lots without any supervision.Valet trash isnt that great. They skip alot of winter nights when it is too cold and they usually sling your trash can halfway down the hall trying to pull the bag out, leaving it on its side. There is zero monitoring of who comes to the pool. I lost track of how many times I watched random people drive into the complex, bring their entire family to the pool, and then leave.Theres plenty of other apartment complexes in the Brier Creek area that blow the Crest out of the water. I would strongly encourage everyone to avoid this place, unless you like being ignored when you take real problems to the people running the place.

Never been the type to write bad reviews since Ive been in a leasing consultant before and understand its mostly disgruntled customers. But today was the last straw.I will start off with a positive by saying- the apartments are very nice on the inside and are in a great location. When I moved in, the apartment wasnt ready and they wouldnt let me move my things in, had to pay my movers for 5 extra hours to wait until I could. Sounds like not a big deal, but that was like $350 more.A couple of months ago we saw a couple of guys down outside my apartment smoking pot and walking behind my building and window. Figured they just wanted to hide. The next morning I went out for an hour and came back-- someone tried to break in to the apartment where the knob was basically ripped off, and they said that their doorknobs are old and has happens all the time. It was just because the doorknobs had worn out. and it wasnt criminal activity. We called the cops and the police officer came over and filed a report and even said that was a load of bull, and doorknobs dont break like that on their own.Teenagers are constantly behind my building smoking pot and leaving there leftovers back there. Never said anything really because they werent really loud.I have lived here since June and the gates to the community have MAYBE worked a month out of that time. Looks like someone rammed the gate with their car because its bent and has been that way for a couple of months.I had a list of maintenance requests I needed done. I dont like strangers in my apartment, so I planned a week in advance to take day off from work so I could be there while they fixed the issues. No they werent emergency issues but we planned in advance. They came the wrong day, and I wasnt there. Told them to come when my maintenance appointment was because I am taking off work- they said ok. Afternoon comes around after my appointment was scheduled, I called them. oh they had an emergency with an AC and since someone called out sick this will have to wait until tomorrow since it will take all day. (rant- as a former leasing consultant, that is only considered an emergency when the temp outside is under or over a certain degree to where it can cause discomfort or danger. Its in the 60s and its beautifully sunny outside.) Even if the AC has the worst possible problem, they dont take ALL day and you can spare 30 min out of that day to fix my scheduled appointment. Or, I dont know - at least call to let me know I can go back to work so I dont waste the day I took off.I get things happen- but they are so sweet when they are selling the apartment. You move in and they are just inconsiderate, rude, and dont put the customer first.I had and still have friends who live here and they all warned me (I wanted to move in because the pool is a lot of fun in the summer and there are a lot of people my age ) But Ignored them when they told me not to move in. One friend broke her lease to move out because some drunk thugs threw bottle rockets at her. Told her that would never happen again and could happen anywhere. Wish I could go back and take her advice.

Staff was not up front and honest about the rules of parking until after we moved in and it was too late.
