Heather is the best manicurist I’ve ever had. She works with me over several appointments to figure out the best combination of techniques to use for my nails, her shaping is immaculate, and she is gentle. I can’t recommend AEY enough and Heather specifically. If something doesn’t work we try something else and she does so well managing my pickiness.
Quiet, small place. Up a long flight of stairs, so be aware if you have mobility limitations. Enjoyed my pedicure and manicure. I liked the color selection and my nail technician was very professional. Massages by the tech were okay, but the massage chair was disappointing. My tech was a little overzealous on my cuticles but the end result was very nice and is holding up. Im just a little sore a few days later. Overall, I would go back for the paint job, but not for the massage/relaxation parts of the experience. That part was just okay.
Gel manicures that I’ve had in the past have started to peel off after 5 days but after 2 and a half weeks my nails still look beautiful with no chips at all! The tech took her time to prep my nails properly before applying the polish which has made a true difference in its staying power
I was trying a new nail salon and saw good reviews for AEY Nail Bar so I booked a signature gel manicure. I usually get dip and saw in past reviews that they had been able to accommodate so I assumed theyd be able to provide dip if requested. However, I would be fine with gel (they dont provide the option to schedule dip on their website). I put in the comments of my appointment reservation that I currently had dip on my nails and would need it removed regardless. Arriving at the salon, I was met with really nice techs -- they were nice throughout and the overall salon was clean and organized. When I asked, the owner informed me that the nail tech I was assigned would not be able to do dip, which was totally fine. Again, before my tech began, I informed her I had dip on my nails and she said that was fine. It seemed as though this nail tech had never removed dip before and the owner informed her it just takes longer. I have had dip countless of times before this and it has never taken more than 5-10 minutes for my nail tech to remove my dip from both hands. It took this nail tech around 45 minutes. She was nice throughout and I was understanding, but I was confused as to how this happened. After that, the salon was 30 minutes from closing (I booked an appointment that started at 5:30pm and they close at 7pm), and my nail tech rushed through prepping my nails and painting with the gel nail polish. When she cut my cuticles, it was painful and two of them bled a bit. I chose black gel polish, which took 3 coats but I still can see through my nails. My nails feel brittle and easily breakable. At the end, past 7pm, my nail tech put so much cuticle oil on my hands that I had to get a napkin to wipe it off. I have never written a bad review and truly feel bad doing so, but after my experience I am really disappointed with this manicure and have scheduled a new appointment with a nail salon tomorrow to get them redone. I paid the full price with a 15% tip but it really was not even worth that. They all were very kind, but Im sorry to say that I wont be returning to AEY Nail Bar due to the inexperienced tech I had. Wish I didnt take the risk and go somewhere new.
Just got engaged and haven’t had my nails done since before Covid. As a gift I was scheduled an appointment. This place was great and the owner was beyond nice. I felt so safe and had an amazing experience! Will definitely be a new regular and highly recommended!
Amazing customer service. They have gone above and beyond for my appointments. Will always go back. Very professional and friendly staff.
I had my nails there done today by Aey and she was so sweet, caring and understanding. she did a great job on my nails. i would highly recommend!!
I got powder dip nails for the first time today. I have never had any kind of acrylics on my nails at all. Im sure you need to get used to the feel of them, but I do feel like my nails are WAY thicker than they need to be. If you look at them from the side some are very thick and 2 not too much. I have seen online tutorials of this process and have never seen them dip more than twice. Mine were dipped 3-4 times and they just seem really think and inflexible. All of my nails are different thicknesses, and thats what I dont like. There were 3 nails with jagged edges I had to file after I got home and noticed them. I like the idea of this, but Im not sure if they were made too thick or its just me. The salon was nice and clean, and everyone there was very pleasant. I would not get these again unless someone else did them and made sure they were thinner and even and not running over the edge of my nail.
I have been frequenting AEY nail bar for a couple years seeing Heather T and Aey for manicures and pedicures. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to do so after a restorative mani/pedi with Aey.The nail bar is located on Walnut street in a 2nd floor suite. The sidewalk level door entry is unassuming and you might miss it if you stroll by too quickly!Upon entry, you buzz in and proceed up one flight of stairs to the nail bar that has been recently remodeled. The entire suite feels bright and airy, modern and refined but without being too fussy. It is impeccably clean, and staff are efficient with time and appointments. Any equipment is sterilized by autoclave and many tools/nail aids are single use and disposable after each customer. Aey maintains an up to date catalog of colors and new techniques that allow execution of the latest trends in nails.Want to chat during your appointment or not at all? No problem. The client has directive over the kind of nail experience they prefer when indulging in a session. You can be creative or play it safe with a classic color, but the end result will be neat and polished (pun intended). Most of all, I wanted to point out that I have been treated like both friend and family. The staff at AEY go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with the results of your service and leave in a better mood than when you arrived!tip: Do book online or call the nail bar for an appointment. AEY nail bar does accept walk-ins, but the secret is out and it can sometimes be difficult to nab a spot (usually from a cancellation) off the cuff.
I have been to many nail salons and AEY Nail Bar is the best I have been to in the city. This is the first time in my life I have been able to grow my nails. I am a nail biter buy now I go three weeks between services because of how high quality Aeys sevices are. The atmosphere is wonderful and everyone is friendly. I highly recommend!!
I’ve been going to AEY for a while and her work is always amazing ! She is so talented and has a great eye for colors !I also go to Heather too, she’s very easy to talk to and does a great job at nails too !In general the salon is clean and friendly, and the ladies who work there are wonderful and sweet. I LOVE getting my nails done there and recommend them all the time !
I love this place. They do such a good job and Ive been happy every time. They are also clean and constantly keeping up with the lastest trends. I added a photo below because Im amazed at how close to the cuticle they get without flooding and they keep the finish smooth 😊 Thanks, ladies, Ill be back. Edit: this is gel
I went in for a set of hard gel extensions. The experience was very nice and my technician was very friendly however, in the course of two weeks Ive had half of my nails come off. I know it is always an option to go in and have the nail fixed, but I am a college student and would have to find to time to take the bus to shadyside in between classes, work, and extracurriculars. For 5 nails coming off it is almost impossible to find the time. This is a problem with the quality of product or combination of products used. For $60+, the results were not worth it.
Being with Aey for the second year! Professional nail artists here and nice people!
Heather was great! Can’t wait to go back to her again for a gel mani :)
After several bad experiences at the salon I used to frequent, I had been trying different places around town. My friend made an appointment for three of us here, and I loved it.The inside is clean and modern. There is a good selection of polish colors, which are presented in an organized way. My technician was friendly and professional, asking many questions along the way to ensure he was doing what I wanted and I was happy with the product. I am extremely hard on my nails, because I frequently wash my hands and cook a lot. They seldom last more than 10 days, but it has been over two weeks and my manicure is still intact.I moved here from NJ three years ago, and was so frustrated with how difficult it was to find a quality nail salon in Pittsburgh. But, I love this place and it is definitely my new go-to.
I have gone here a couple times and love it. Heather is amazing at everything she does. She really seems to care and pay extra attention to your nail care (feet or hands). The owner is very nice and professional. This place feels like family :)
I had such a great experience here. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, even when our party showed up 20 minutes late because of unforeseen traffic. They did an amazing job, were very clean, and are reasonably priced. Staff had great knowledge of nail colors and did amazing nail art for me! Would highly recommend.
Aey did my nails! She was very personable, communicative, and wonderful. She did great quality work and made me feel very comfortable as a first time customer! Will be going back in the future 🙂
Aey and her staff are so friendly and are fantastic at what they do. Ive had many manicures and pedicures, both simple and gel, and have worked with every employee. All are very attentive and accommodating. Although a sense of professionalism is always maintained, Aey never fails to make you feel like youre amongst friends. Highly recommend!
I received a beautiful dip nail manicure with extensions from Heather. AEY nail bar provided me with friendly and excellent service. The salon is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended!
I had a fantastic, relaxing experience. AEY is beautiful, extremely clean and the staff is friendly and professional. Their prices are incredibly fair and the quality is great. I wish I had found them sooner!
Not only was the manicure sub-par, but there was just so much drama among all of the employees right in front of the customers. They were complaining about each other, about their boss, bickering in front of me. And the nail polish was a basic manicure that had massive streaks in between coats and didnt come close to my cuticle. I should have just done my nails myself.
I was looking for a place near work where I could book my appointments during openings in my schedule. Convenient, clean location. I booked my appointment online (so easy to see availability of the staff!). First pedicure with Heather and I will definitely be back!
This is one of the best salons around! Prices are extremely fair and the staff couldnt be more friendly. Such a welcoming environment. And theres such an amazing color selection. I will definitely be back!
Heather did a fantastic job with my pedicure. The polish job was perfect, and my cuticles look great. She was friendly, professional, and wanted me to have a relaxing experience. Very clean salon, Ill definitely be returning!
Lovely time! Will be back for a pedicure. The polish lasts a long time! Very relaxing atmosphere.
Made an unexpected nail appointment. I was accommodated and welcome after showing up late (so gracious). My nail technician was very kind.It became apparent that she was not professionally trained and/or the technician did not have professional training.Compared to my previous nail experiences, the quality of this manicure was the worst I’ve ever received. I’ve never felt so annoyed about an experience.Ps - most reviews on yelp are suspiciously similar/lack of certified reviews.Word of caution: steer clear
As other reviewers noted, this place is no good. Unhygienic which is the most concerning. Very sloppy work that took way too long (2 hours for a mani and pedi) and is extremely overpriced. Please save your health and money and go somewhere else.
My first time getting a pedicure and it was pretty cool. Very nice and clean. The people that work there are awesome. A+
Always do a top notch job and willing to help figure out the best ways to keep your nails health and beautiful.
I went in to have a dip powder manicure, this was my first time going here and having had dip powder done in the past this was not a great job, they are very sloppy ( I can see the white top coat powder on my nails as the finished product), took far too long ( another customer came in after I was already started and left before me, she got the same thing done) also my nail is already chipped just 3 days after having them done, I understand that its a new service, however if you havent mastered it dont use customers as testers
Overall, the salon is clean and very cute. However, for a $60 nail service I was very disappointed with my dip nails. My left hand nails were significantly shorter than my right, and I had to go home and even out the length, edges, and shape. The finish was also bumpy, uneven, and shiny in some places and matte in others. Further, as my nails were still drying and my appointment wasnt even done, the staff began cleaning up around me making me feel rushed and like my later appointment was an inconvenience. I was expecting much more after reading the reviews.
Always a great job! Everyone is very friendly and they do great work
This was my first experience at AEY and I will definitely be coming back. I love the products they use, their services were great, and the staff makes you feel right at home. Thank you!
This was my first time at AEY Nail Bar and it was unfortunately disappointing. My nail tech was very warm and personable, however I felt cheated out of my full hour of service. First, she had to keep answering the phone and booking appointments when trying to do my nails while it seemed that the manager/owner was on a long personal call. Second, the service I booked was supposed to include a signature massage but all that the nail tech did was run lotion up and down my arms for a total of 5 minutes. I left my appointment with 10 minutes remaining on my hour. The worst part though was that after paying $47 plus a tip my gel nail polish started peeling within 4 days while I was on vacation. It’s not good when I feel like I could have given myself a better quality and more relaxing experience at home for a quarter of the price. I gave a two star rating only because the nail tech was nice and the salon was clean, but I am not interested in returning here.
This is the best place to get your nails done in Pittsburgh. The entire staff is an absolute joy to be around and the place is always immaculately clean.* 2 years later and this is still the ONLY place to go in Pittsburgh. Aey, Heather and the other technicians have grown a lot over the years but one thing that hasn’t changed is their amazing customer service and quality work. Ignore the 1 star reviews: they’re either competing businesses ghostwriting or have a tendency to be impossible to be pleased. If I’ve ever had a problem, Aey has been immediate and accommodating in rectifying the situation even when it’s my fault.
So this happened a while back but I recently stumbled upon pics I had taken and I’m newly enraged. This was the literal worst manicure I’ve ever had in my life and I get ~10 a year. I went in for a gel manicure. The tech was rough with my cuticles, but not painful so I didn’t complain. The next day EVERY single cuticle was peeling. By the end of the week, it was all the way up to my first knuckle on more than half of my fingers. I was out of state for a conference and every time I reached for something my cuticles bled. I emailed and Aey responded basically blaming it on my skin, lack of lotion, and even the weather...despite the fact that this had never happened to me before. Eventually she said it might be dull trimmers. She offered an appointment to get them fixed...two weeks later. Additionally, the gel was peeling about a week, week and a half in. For the price tag, there are larger, cleaner salons with more competent staff.TLDR: Staff isn’t well trained/doesn’t have the proper equipment. Salon is cramped. Management makes excuses. AVOID.
I love coming to AEY Nail Bar 💅🏻 My nails always come out beautiful, and my gel nails last for 3 weeks!! This is my treat every few weeks 😍
Friendly and accommodating service. Fit three u us in quickly and with a smile. Thank you!
The BEST!
Aey Nail Bar is always exceeding my expectations. From the quality of the services they provide to the friendly and courteous atmosphere, its easy to see that they are always striving to make your experience a happy one. I have become a regular and see no reason to go anywhere else!
Loved the treatment and accommodations they made. Will be back! My nails were beautiful!
Aey and Heather were professional; not only this, they are easy to communicate my expectation for the service. I am very pleased with the manicure done at Aey. In addition, they are willing to provide insiders view to help people who are new in the area (like me) to navigate this new environment. I will definitely go back again.
High quality work and lovely staff. Will definitely be back!
Lovely staff. Thorough and personable manicure. Will definitely be back!
They do excellent dip powder nails. Very affordable too.
Staff are very skilled and accommodating to clients needs! Relaxing and clean atmosphere!
Went in for a mani/pedi and I loved the entire vibe of this place! Plus my nails are gorgeous now
I love Aey!!! I just got the most beautiful eyelashes I have ever seen! They are so reliable, sweet and reasonable!!
Vwry cute salon. It was clean and the nail technicians were thorough and friendly.
I came here based on other reviews and it did not disappoint!! I had Aleshka and she did the dipping powder with tips. This is one of the few salons in the area Ive found that do the dipping powder. I have found my new go to salon! Aleshka was awesome!!!! The attention to detail was phenomenal and the end result was the best Ive ever had. The salon is very fresh, nice, and clean! All of the ladies working today were very nice and personable too...very nicely run business!! I will be scheduling an appointment in 3 weeks and may just have to add in a pedicure as a treat! Prices are very comparable and well worth the quality of work! Check out their webpage and you can do online booking too! Thank you for a great experience, Aleshka.
Probably the most unprofessional nail salon. The welcome staff was friendly but unfortunately the woman doing my nails was extremely rude. Ive never felt more anxious and uncomfortable in a nail salon before. The woman never introduced herself she also spoke to me with a very rude tone. I came in to get my acrylics off and gel color. She had me soak my nails in acetone for 30 mins while she was nowhere to be found. I did not realize the soaking would take so long so when she returned I asked if she could just clean my nails and not paint them because I am short on time. I immediately was taken back by her reaction, she seamed furious and with an attitude said well didnt you know how long this its going to take?. She then preceded to file my nails and lotion them, all of which Took 5 mins. She charged me $30 in total for the removal and cleaning. I called later to speak to the manager and they gave the phone to a different person. They told me it was $15 extra because it is considered a mens manicure, even though I was not told it would cost extra on top off getting the acrylics off (which by the way, part of the acrylic is still stuck to my nail and wasnt fully taken off). In addition to this, they said the manager would reach out to me, and she never did. Not only is the staff rude but their customer service is horrible. I have never complained about a service before but after this experience I felt the need to speak up.
Oh my god! I know my feet are not the most amazing but this is the worst they have looked after getting a pedicure. The quality of the work and of the polish this time leave a lot to wish. The nails werent even cleaned properly! I was at the AEY Nail Bar before and had a fairly positive experience. This time was completely different. Disappointing. I could have done a much better job myself! I had a manicure done as well and asked for a different polish after the second layer was applied because it looked terrible. The finish was lumpy and not fair. The artist didnt take it well. At the end, she asked another artist, Heather, to finish applying the polish and just left. It might have been a mistake of mine to accept her suggestion of paying before the polish. I paid 80 dollars and lost 2 hours of my Saturday evening for a work that clearly needs to be redone. Not feeling happy about it, at all!
Very nice staff and clean facility but the gel on my nails just got sat.is already cracking off. Toe polish isnt even and didnt remove dry skin on my feet even though i got a deluxe pedi.*Update- salon owner refunded part of my charges and offered to fix the polish. Thank you for providing good customer service.
I couldnt love Aey and her work more! She puts great care and consideration into her services. I am obsessed with the lash extensions she offers!!
Very welcoming, great manicure. Reasonably priced.
Nice place, professional staff and a fantastic job on my nails! I’ll be back !
I went for a manicure and a pedicure but ruined my pedicure that very night. They redid my whole pedicure for me the next day and were super nice about it :)
Nice selection of designs
I heard a lot about this salon but I had very bad experience with them before making an appointment with them I asked about the price of the gel and regular nail color.she said that 50 $ for the regular nail color and 75$ for the gel color of menicure and pedicure.i went there and lady Hider she applied regular nail color on my feet and gel applied for my manicure but she charged 75$, and I went back to take them off then I figured out she used regular nail for pedicure.she also charged 7$ to take them off 🙄that’s ridiculous
