Amanda was AMAZING!!!! I was originally scheduled to work with Amanda in 2020, but then when COVID happened and we had to postpone my wedding, she was so accommodating with choosing new dates and helping me make all the necessary adjustments to our schedule/timeline. Once we began working on my dress, she was extremely detail-oriented and did everything she said she would. Additionally, one week prior to my scheduled final try on and dress pick-up, I got worried about the tightness of my dress and my ability to dance, so I emailed her and asked her if there was anyway she could do a last minute alteration to let-out one area I was concerned about. I received a call from her and she talked about what options we had and she had the alteration ready for me 5 days later and it was perfect. Lastly, on my final pick-up appointment, we noticed one of the cups of my dress kept showing when I moved around, and Amanda immediately offered to hand sew it to the lace prior to us leaving to ensure it was not seen in my photos. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Amanda and her business. If youre looking for somewhere you can trust to do a fabulous, professional job with your wedding dress, this is your place.
I had a great experience with Amanda at Iron Horse Atelier. I took my wedding dress there in January for my September wedding. Over 3 fittings and a final try-on, Amanda transformed my dress into the perfect fit! I got layers of tulle removed, added different straps, and added a modesty piece and everything was perfect. She followed COVID protocols for every fitting.
Amanda is awesome!! I am so happy I found her. She is so nice, very professional, and super talented. Highly recommend!
Having my wedding gown alterations done here was absolutely an excellent experience all around. We added an extra fitting because of COVID and it really helped give me peace of mind in a really challenging time. The alterations themselves were high quality and the price was very fair and reasonable. I could not be happier!
As a bridal boutique owner, it was very important to me to have a trustworthy seamstress to whom I could refer my clients, and Amandas one of the first that I send them to. She has a great attention to detail, is well-organized, and brings a perfect balance of professionalism and fun to the fitting process!
Amanda is wonderful to work with. Her work is top quality and she truly cares that you are happy with the final product. Would absolutely recommend!
I could not have been any happier with my experience at Iron Horse Atelier and with Amanda, the owner. Amanda is incredibly gifted and talented, clearly her training is extensive. My wife had her wedding dress altered and Amanda also refit my tuxedo, almost entirely. She spent time in Italy and New York and knows her way around design and construction at a fundamentally different level than her competitors in the Pittsburgh area. More importantly, she is friendly and professional. Her prices are fair and her work was superb. I really can’t recommend her highly enough!
Ruined my dress and then ghosted me. Coming here ended up being my biggest regret and I feel like I really got scammed and ripped off. First off, the response to calls or emails is about 7 days if you are lucky which isn’t great if you are paying this price for time sensitive items so I am not sure I get that this is an active business. I got bad vibes from the start but it took me months to get an appointment and then it was too close to my wedding to switch so I just went with it and chalked it up to being over controlling about details. I just needed it fitted a little and was shocked to be priced at over $900. The more I asked around people said this was insane but the reviews were good so I was thinking she would work wonders. The waist of my dress was moved up two-threeInches up (from top of my hips where it is designed to be to right below my bust like erkle) and the fabric removed so that it could not be reversed or revived. It changed the whole entire look, fit and design because the sides are cut out With a plunging neck and that was totally lost. The shop is super small, cramped, and hot and I felt pressured and rushed everytime I was in there to make changes I didn’t need. It was so hard to tell wearing a mask in a tiny area how the dress fit so I get “you signed off on it” but that attitude is terrible and shady customer service. It didn’t feel right but I couldn’t figure out why it kept fitting and looking worse every time and was never form fitted to me how I wanted but I realized it was a lost cause. When I finally took it home to actually try it on to myself where I could breathe and move I found a hole ripped in the front (it was there in pictures from the shop too) and compared original pictures and realized that the problem was that the waist was moved so far up it looked ridiculous and was not the dress I wanted it to be. I immediately tried to contact Amanda to ask her to repair the hole in the front and please try to restore the Design of how the dress is supposed to look. She refused to answer my calls or ever emailMe back. Note: I was never rude/mean or demanding, I was OVERLY nice kind and pleading the entire time because I was devistated and desperate so for her to ignore me was outrageously unprofessional and made me realize how fake she was to my face. Also, the dress looked to be torn apart and sewn back together haphazardly . Lining caught under seams, loose/pulled stitching, holes in the fabric. I was hoping to keep it as an heirloom but it went from designer to looking hand made. For $900 i had my dress completely remade and ruined. I would have done anything to have it back to original condition (which barely needed anything) and this was not a cheap dress. I expected way way better treatment and service than this. Took it to alterations express for $30 to try to fix what they could and they did a far better job and even steamed it. No idea how people are giving good reviews. This is supposed to be a great experience but I am looking back at pictures and just sick over it. Please think twice, because what’s done can’t be fixed. high cost doesn’t always mean good work and service.
Amanda was very accomodating and fit me into her busy wedding season schedule at the last minute for some alterations to my unusual wedding dress. I ordered a dress online and I wasn’t totally sure whether it would be a disaster when it arrived but Amanda assured me that we would work out the kinks. She made alterations on the bodice length, cup size and even created a beautiful and flowing high to low hem that I fitted out with a light-up LED petticoat! She got my dress done in less than a month and at a very reasonable price. I couldn’t have been happier with my dress and I hope to have the opportunity to work with her again.
Amanda did an incredible job on my wedding dress; the changes required were drastic and she did beautiful work. I am relieved to have trusted her with such an important part of our wedding.
Amanda was absolutely wonderful to work with! She was quick and very polite, I loved chatting with her during fittings. I approached her with a rather quick turnaround requested and she pulled it off without breaking a sweat. My dress fit perfectly and comfortably after our appointments. I would highly recommend her for your altering needs!
