Be prepared to pay hundreds upon hundreds for this scam of a place. You wouldn’t believe what I was charged for driving through the tolls. It is UNBELIEVABLE that they do not have transponders in their cars.
Every year my daughter and I take a road trip and rent a car to do this. I reserved a car via Priceline that advertised itself as an economy car with unlimited miles from a company called Nextcar. The morning we were set to leave for our trip, I sent a text saying I needed to go to PHL International Airport and get a shuttle, which I did. I arrived early and waited for a shuttle which drove me several miles outside of the airport. Upon arrival the woman at the counter asked for my DL and CC and immediately charge me the agreed upon amount in addition to a security deposit. Only after she took my money was I told the miles were not unlimited if I left the tristate area. The trip had already been planned to travel down south and they already had my money. I am now getting charged almost $600 more than the agreed upon amount, and when I call and leave messages no one calls me back. The car was barely worth the amount I agreed to pay. It was a 2019 Nissan Versa with alignment so bad I felt like I was being pulled off the road.I would recommend one of the major chains. This place is dishonest.
This rental experience was an absolute wreck. I would NOT recommend renting from this company. The service was absolutely horrible. The experience went from bad to even worse after the rental was done. The car was reserved ahead of time and we were not sent any paperwork to fill out till after our flight was in the air. We then had to wait at the airport for over 90min because they refused to send the shuttle. They sent their office employee home due to bad weather, when we were going to have to drive in that same weather and were also significantly delayed in our travel plans. The reservation then had to be changed into my name, so 2hrs after arriving at the airport the shuttle was finally sent. The rental car itself was fine, but the service was just horrendous. We then called regarding paying the tolls and were told that the invoice wouldn’t come for 30-45days. I was then charged $50 for a citation regarding the tolls when I never received a toll invoice. (There is no way to pay for PA tolls online without an invoice #. I then had to call the PA tolls customer service and the representative confirmed that without an invoice # the tolls could not be paid online.) When I called regarding the $50 charge the employee I spoke to was very rude and told me that I deserved the $50 charge because she had to do all the work. I asked for an invoice # and the employee told me it was going to be mailed. The “work” it took to mail the invoice could have been totally avoided by emailing the invoice in the first place. I think it is wrong to charge customers $50 when the invoice was not even sent to me so I could pay it. Overall this was a very poor rental experience. I would not wish this treatment upon anyone. I will not rent from this company again.
Would NOT recommend. You will pay hundreds upon hundreds for a vehicle. Extremely rude customer service, not helpful at all, and we were told the shuttle service would take up to 45mins to arrive at the airport. This is my first and will be my last with this company.
GREAT 5 STAR SERVICE !!!!EVERYTHING WAS SUPER EASY, CAR SUPER CLEAN, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. COULDNT ASK FOR MORE.THANKS
My fiancé attempted to find an affordable place to rent a car through a travel website for the holidays. Unfortunately, this place was listed as a car rental company located at the Philadelphia airport. We in-turn found out that this company was not located at the airport. Given the holiday, the prices of their rentals matched competitors and we chose this one because of there being few dollars difference. My advice for ANYONE purchasing from here is to:1) Firstly to weigh the options & pay the extra money for rentals AT THE AIRPORT. With Rent-A-Wreck, you are literally getting what you pay for. Sadly, I am not referring to prices (because in our case, it wasn’t that much of a difference). The vehicle we rented radio, Bluetooth, and speakers all did not work. The car did not drive properly (no pick-up and felt like we were driving a lemon). It was not safe to drive.2) If you choose them, please—READ, READ, READ—they have a few charges and rules that other companies do not have (too many to write.)3) Plan ahead! You will have to call them when you land. If they are open, they’ll send someone to come get you because they are off-site. We waited over 30 minutes because they were not opened at 9am. (Hours may vary.) Then you’d have to communicate with their office once you arrive. (Which can be long—given the older woman in the office.—with a running nose and her mask falling off every second.)Personal: I do not like having to plan things, but I wished I had talked to my fiancé before him booking with Rebt-A-Wreck. That’s entirely our fault. He’s not from Philadelphia. I would have chosen another place. Which is why I had share this review. When I love a place, I share it everyone. When I don’t, I normally don’t share but I realized that any one could have been us: paying more fees when we got there, being yelled at and being placed in a lemon for a car. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. The customer service was horrible. The ONLY compliment I have is that every rule, every fee was on the contract, my fiancé signed. Which I found out AFTER demanding the contract. So I could do nothing to fight it. SO PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS AND READ before paying and signing anything! But most importantly go with another company.
Worst experience. Unexpected charges weeks later. This place is a local business with the WORST customer service. Called and asked to speak to someone other then the ONE person that answers phones and handles renting cars and was told the only other person was the owner and the owner was TOO BUSY to handle complaint. No personalized customer service for being an independent business.BEWARE!! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!!Side note - Looking back at other google reviews i noticed that the owner (or only employee) of this business only responds to positive reviews. Most reputable businesses respond to both. Just goes to show how badly this business is run.
Rented a car for the holiday weekend and it was a very pleasant experience! Excellent service! Fast and easy pick up. The car was clean and odorless. Overall good experience and definitely will rent again from here next time I need a car.
The worst place ever
Great rates, great car, & great customer service.
I have rented a car for a week from the Philadelphia airport. As soon as I got the car I added it to my EZPass account however, due to a mistake done by the NJ Turnpike a bill for 2.6 dollars was sent to the rental company. Since Rent A Wreck dont offer an EZPass, they have charged me for a 50$(!) fee for processing the violation, which means, forwarding me the bill. I have since called and sent two emails with proof that the vehicle was under my account and that the bill was sent by accident but havent heard back.I am renting cars pretty often and care about the price I pay;I however, I will happily pay more to avoid dealing with unprofessional companies like that.
Rental was a breeze, car was like new with only 4k miles. Great prices and service will definitely rent again!
Absolutely horrible location! do not rent from them! the staff are extremely unprofessional and they do not even try to resolve problems that they created. Overcharged my card almost 800.00 and attempted to deny the charges even when presented with a picture from my account showing the charges they posted to my account. I have made numerous calls to the facility with no ability to contact a manager that will take care of returning my money. And on top of that they cancelled my reservation ! Absolutely horrible! im contacting the better business bureau!
What a joke!!! No communication about reservation times and requirements are nothing of what’s stated when booking. Just so happened to call the pickup line to find out that I would’ve showed up to no employees and no car because they don’t open until 930am. Had to send pictures of my ID, Debit card, ID cards and dec page along with 2 contracts plus a reservation that included the exact same info. Thanks for keeping Philly trashy
Awful customer service, rude, not helpful, and extremely dirty. It’s a literal wreck here at this place. Will never return here for business. If I could give this place a lower rating I would.
Rhonda treated us like family right from the start. The pickup from the airport and drop off was quick and easy. The car we rented, Ill just say this, I need to buy me a hyundai elantra!!Heres the 5 star earner right here, I left my oakly sunglasses in the car by accident, called them up and amazingly they were returned to the the lost and found and arrangements were easily made for their prompt return back to me!When I come back to philly next year I know where to rent a car again!
I would never recommend this rental company. I booked through Expedia for a rental for 2 weeks with unlimited mileage and I paid for the insurance online beforehand to save money when we went to pick up. When we went to pick it up we were told it was 120 miles a day and if we went over it was charged per mile so we weren’t able to go see New York like we had intended. Also when we received the car it had low tire pressure and she told us to go fill it with air at the nearest gas station, like that was our problem? Then we were charged $280 for insurance which I confronted the lady about when we went to return the car and told her I had purchased beforehand to which she told me it was already processed and nothing she could do about it, like refunds aren’t an option most likely because the money was already spent. Horrible service and complete lies when you book online.
Great prices and very helpful!
I mean I have rented from majority rental places and this was by far the WORST I MEAN THE WORST RENTAL PLACE EVER . Customer service was horrible, they don’t pick up the phone, they decide to close an hour early when the time on there states 630, shuttle bus driver doesn’t want to drive the bus but instead sends calls to voicemail I mean the list goes on and on, just don’t even bother your self with the headache just go else where !
Great cars and great rates I would definitely rent again
Left me high and dry at airport. No service after 3 on saturday. Promised to return call and did not. Had to make last minute reservation with another company. The wreck is the organization
Very disgusting location and very very rude and unprofessional staff. Woman clerk seemed to be in some type of coma looked as if she was former addict. Switched cars and made me take a suv i did not want.Stay away from this place at all costs.
This business is inexcusably terrible. I rented a vehicle and they assured me that I would need to do an inspection because there would be photos has I left and entered the lot. Instead, they send a picture of a vehicle with a small dent (no license plate, no time time stamp and no before and after) and I trying to force me to pay over $1000.
Discriminatory
Seems like a horrible company all around. Weren’t clear at all with their terms of agreement or what you would actually need at time of pick up. When I called to cancel my prepaid reservation the woman was VERY rude and at the end of the call just hung up on me. No “have a nice day” or anything.
Just a week and a half before pickup they advised me they needed a COPY of my drivers license & credit card scanned and sent online. I called them several times to discuss and it was hours before some girl called back - from her car, I could hardly hear her. Bad business, very unprofessional.
