My wife went to get a car I reserved for her weeks ago. She was turned away because there were no more cars. This is outrageous and they should let their customers who have reservations know ahead of time if they aren’t going to get a car. Har to find a rental car at a last resort locations and pay double the price for two days. This location offered no support other than telling my wife she could wait around for cars to be returned but told her they had no idea when that would be.

Scam alert. I recently rented a car from National at the airport. The first car was damaged and had a flat. The second car was also damaged and I took a picture of the damage before driving it. About a week or so later I started getting emails and letters from National saying that I damaged the second car. I provided my photo with a date, time and location stamp showing that the car was damaged before I drove it. National has provided no evidence that I damaged the car but continues to send letters saying that I am undefined amount of money and no clear description of any damage.I have emailed National several times and called them. I did get a couple of responses asking for the photo which I provided but no acknowledgment of the photo or why they think I damaged the car.I would not rent from them as they appear to be dishonest scammers.

I agree with many others: at this National location, scamming customers appears to be policy. I recently returned a vehicle and received an invoice for gasoline, even though the car was returned completely full. I called National customer service and was able to get the situation rectified, but it took two phone calls and a lot of time. I rent from National frequently (50-75 days a year), and I find them superior to the other car rental companies, but the Palm Springs location is a terrible exception. I won’t rent from or return to this location in the future.

Complete nightmare with the worst customer service ever.I locked myself out of my car and was told it needed to be towed. Was told the car would be towed 15 minutes down the road and instead it was taken to this location over an hour and a half away because it was where I rented the car from. Which for the record is NOT where I picked up the car. I had to speak to multiple people over the phone to figure out where the car was after it was towed as I still have personal belongings still in the car. Because it was a long drive I called ahead of time to make sure the location would be open in order for me to retrieve my belongings. I was assured that they would be open until 8:00 p.m. I arrived at 7:00 to be told that the only person with the key to the car lot went home 2 hours ago. This means they went home within minutes of me calling and lied that they would be available. I was told I would be contacted by a manager and a week later I have heard nothing and still do not have my personal belongings back. I have even filled out a lost items form as a suggested by the individuals at the counter with no luck on retrieving my things. Worst experience of my life and the customer service has just been atrocious. I will never rent with this brand again.

NEVER TRUST THIS RENTAL location TO HAVE THE CAR YOU RESERVED.We were forced to take the last available car and it was a horrendous long drive that night. To top it off we got a claim for damage for minor dings and dents that were hard to see with naked eye. After having such a bad experience picking up the car, we left in frustration and did not photograph the car before we left the lot. All this being an Emerald Club member. Hats off National.

Let me begin by sharing that I am an executive elite member at National with over 100 rentals a year. I have a choice at my company who to use as well as who my team uses and after my most recent experience, we will be transitioning.Ahead of my personal vacation travel, I called National to confirm someone would be at the counter upon my arrival since I was going to arrive around 10:15pm. We added my flight to the reservation and confirmed someone would be there. Upon arrival, nobody was there. I had to take a taxi to my hotel and then back the next day. Upon arrival the next day, they stated they no longer had my car since I didn’t pick it up yesterday and my reservation was cancelled. Through some heated back and forth of who was right and wrong, I finally got a car, 3 classes below my reservation at the same price. The car was dirty, very used with 21,000 miles and with bald tires. I’m very disappointed and ready for some decent customer service.

Were Emerald Club members and usually have great National Car Rental experiences. First car available for us on this recent trip was only a Jeep Compass (we were expecting a mid-sized SUV)! No Emerald Aisle at the Palm Springs airport. It was assigned. Small, underpowered and older...luckily, its oil change light came on during the first few days of a two-week rental. Also, it started to stall coming out of a stop. After calling into the rental office, we returned it to the airport office (25 minutes from our condo) and they swapped it out. We were then given a brand new Hyundai Santa Fe, the car we were first expecting. Great car for the remaining 10 days but nothing was ever done for us for all of the hassle! Oh well, well remember next time.

This review is for Palm Springs specific, National as a company I’ve had pretty good experiences with as I’m a frequent car rental user and an Emerald Club Member. I travel to Palm Springs often as I help my elderly mother with things. Every time it comes time to turn the car in there’s been issues, including terrible customer service. Over billing, or not able to pay with a different credit card, but will take cash, etc.... They are unable to communicate how or why? Just poor service all the way around. Highly advise going with another company in Palm Springs.

Great customer service, As an Executive member I am very used to walking to the aisle and selecting the car I like, this was the first time I was assigned a car without seeing it first. Rich was very accommodating when I asked to swap the big 7 seater I was assigned with a 2 door convertible. Loved the car and the service, it made my trip to Palm springs even better :)

The staff are great but I wanted to extend my lease for another month. I gave them four days notice and they still could not supply a SUV. I am an executive elite member with them and I was very disappointed that no effort was made to accommodate me. I had to go and rent from Budget. They were short of cars as well but made the effort to find a vehicle for me.

This was our fifth one week rental with National. All the vehicles have been almost brand new and in excellent condition. Pickup and return have been very quick. Three of the rentals have been thru the Emerald Isle, and as they advertise, just grab which ever vehicle you want and off you go.I highly recommend National Car Rental

Terrible customer service.We rented a car at the Palm Springs airport to go drive through Joshua Tree national park. When we signed the paperwork for the car, the employee didnt say ANYTHING about reporting previous damage, nor did they walk us around the car. We have rented cars many times for personal and for work, so I know the drill pretty well and have never had an issue before. We did our out car inspection, and took a picture of the only dent we could find. It was a 2-3 superficial dent in the window pillar that was seen prior to use driving the car. When we returned the vehicle, Vanessa, the National Rental Car employee found the dent and told us it was not in the vehicle prior to us renting it. We said we had a photo, and she continued to say it was our fault. I showed her the photo and she said she was still writing the report to say the damage was our fault, but that we were disputing the cause of the damage. She looked at the time on my phone, rather than the timestamp on the photo and said it was not a photo when we rented the car. After 10 minutes of arguing back and forth, I showed her the photo again with the time stamp that showed the damage 3 minutes after we signed the rental agreement. She finally caved and said the damage wasnt our fault. I GUARANTEE the next person to rent that car and not take a photo of the damage, gets stuck with cost of the damages. Its very clear to me and the others in my party, they do everything in their power to stick renters with extra costs.Do not rent from National at the Palm Springs location. Use any of their competition.

I have been renting from National Car Rental for a long time and I’ve always been happy with the service and the availability of the vehicles. I particularly like when I am able to fly into an airport that offers express service so I can bypass the counter. In this particular case, it was a smaller airport but the individual that I worked with was helpful, friendly and got us moving very quickly.

The car choices at the Palm Springs airport were not good. I am used to having very nice cars and small SUVs to chose from. The Hyandai I rented was safe and reliable but it lacked many of the features I look for when renting a car.

Palm Springs is one of National Car Rental location. The cars are always clean, my selections have always been correct, and counter service is extremely professional. Ive never experienced an error condition at this location. One or two times there have been more than five folks waiting in line, but the rest of the check in counters are normally packed, minimum of 30+ minute wait.

Upon arrival at Palm Springs, National offered a vehicle that was not suitable. Staff searched for the availability of another vehicle. I offered to wait as long as was needed. As my family and I had to wait for nearly 90 minutes, and they could not get the vehicle model I wanted to rent, they provided me with a quality upgrade. The staff member was terrific to us and as an Emerald Member, rental was fluid and upon receiving our vehicle, we left with ease. Returning the vehicle was quick and simple. I have used a variety of car rental agencies over the years but National has always been found to be the most reliable and convenient. I highly recommend National Palm Springs.

Cars steering had so much play in it should have been pulled out of the fleet to repair. No GPS you have to pay for either an upgrade from a standard or the $4.95 per day plus tax. I can get a better car as an economy with more options and feel safer with another rental company. Very disappointed.The gal at the counter was very nice and helpful

My brothers and I and our wives flew into Palm Springs. Our flight was scheduled to land at Midnight. We both had provided our flight info at the time of rental knowing that the desk in Palm Springs closed at 11:30 pm. We were both told that the counter would stay for 2 hours if they knew we were coming in. When we arrived, the counter was vacant. Fortunately for us, Hertz was open and we were able to rent two SUVs from them and they discounted the cost for us as well. When we went back to exchange our vehicles for our National vehicles, the manager of National told us that they had no idea why anyone would tell us they would stay late. Its not their policy. So, from now on, we will be rented from Hertz.

This particular location is staffed by friendly, knowledgeable people who are helpful and positive. It’s always a pleasure to interact with them after a long flight from the East Coast. Really giving the one star would not be what I would do...but it seems like there is not choice to do so; just as National Car Rental is all lacking the choice when I tried signing up for there rewards/points program.Nothing wrong with the car they chose for me ~ I will note this.However, when signing up for the rewards program...I was not allowed to do so without adding a credit card...my debt MasterCard, apparently, is not enough!! This is just ridiculous!!! I decided long ago that having a credit card, when my debt MasterCard works just fine (with the REST OF THE WORLD!!) was really great. I mean ~ there is no Bill to pay...its all done with the transaction, up front. Very clean...Im not paying high credit card interest or membership(s) either.So re-think your policy on this please. Currently it is driving away this customer!! I imagine plenty of others too who.

In my opinion, National continues to be the gold standard in the car rental industry. As an Emerald Club member, it took only a few minutes to pick up my rental at the Palm Springs airport. I was greeted warmly by the counter agent and given my choice of the type of vehicle I could rent. The Rav 4 I selected, was a short walk from the terminal. It was clean, low mileage and free of any damage. All the vehicle systems worked perfectly and provided trouble free transportation during the rental period. The return process was equally efficient. The National rep was prompt and friendly. After a vehicle inspection was completed I was given a final invoice from a hand held device. The final charge was identical to the amount I was quoted at check in. I will definitely continue to rent from National.

National always does a great job. This time around, I accidentally left my glasses and case in the back seat of the car. I didnt notice it until I was in the airport. After running back to the drop off location, the attendant stopped what he was doing and helped me find the car, even though it had already been moved. We found it with the glasses but he made what could have been a very frustrating experience very easy and he did it with a smile. Very impressive and appreciated!

Rented from you guys on 10/31/19 for one day, drop off in another city and everything went like clockwork as it always does. Top notch. Rented from Enterprise for one day, the day prior (10/30/19), and it was a cluster-f of errors including miscommunication, failure to return phone calls for 2+ hours(remember, this was a one day, same day rental), failure to deliver car (I thought that was what they were famous for!) National is best in class.

There was no line, went straight to the counter, told them my name, and I got out with a better car than expected in less than 3 minutes. Upon return I just had to clear it out and park it, they looked at it and said looks good and I went into the airport and left. Super fast and super easy, no hassles or million questions. Love using Emerald Club counter st PSP. Short lineups and courteous efficient agents. Very satisfied with vehicles rented. Would appreciate getting rental credits for both vehicles rented, versus current policy of getting credits for only one vehicle, even though I rented 2 vehicles for the week.

He recommended the right automobile to fit my needs (luggage - 2 sets of golf clubs). When I returned the car it was a friendly conversation without having to go back inside. Efficient pickup/drop-off even though the branch isnt an Emerald Aisle.When we arrived late evening, there was only one person handling both National and Alamo counters, but he was very quick and efficient. Our mid-size car wasnt available so it was upgraded to premium without extra charge. The customer service rep gave us several choices for the new vehicle.Well definitely use National Car Rental at PSP again.

Not a great experience..I arrived at the reservation counter and asked if any cars were available to rent. I presented my membership card (Emerald Club/Executive).. The clerk told me nothing was available.. and then changed her mind and told me one car was available at 156.00/day.I said no thanks and then went to the National website. From there, I was able to book a car right away for around 25.00 per day.. Went up to the desk again and magically they had a car for me... Horrible customer service..

This agency does not live up to the commitments made by the National reservations group. My flight was late arriving and the National reservations group confirmed that an agent would be at the airport to meet me when my flight arrives. When we arrived, the agent had left and we were stranded at the airport. The National reservations group confirmed that I could take a taxi to my home and that I would be reimbursed for this cost. They also committed to have an Enterprise vehicle delivered to my home. When I spoke to the agent this morning, she told me that their phones were turned off at 17:00, that the National reservations group had lied to me (even though I have email confirmation) and that they will not reimburse me for the cost of the taxi and that no-one will pick me up. Totally unreliable for a business traveler and completely unprofessional.

I rented a car day of from this location, received a confirmation via email, and upon arrival at the National Palm Springs Airport they said they do not have the cars to fulfill my reservation and have had to send 10 other similar reservations away just that day.Attendant said “the national website will advertise cars that we don’t have, and then national website doesn’t talk to our local computers”Beware!!!!

National was good to work with as usual, however, they do not have Emerald service at Palm Springs, CA, so you have to wait in line to get car keys at the counter just like at other rental companies. The wait (15min) was hard to take given how easy the Emerald service is at other airports. Then again, maybe this is just another crazy California thing.

I use National all the time for work and Ive always had great service but my recent trip charges forced me to call their support line and complain. What I was charged was twice what I was quoted. When I asked why, they said its because I chose to upgrade. At no point during my pickup did I request an upgrade. I gave my name, the attendant at the desk offered 3 car options, while pointing at the keys, not at any price differences, and I chose 1 of those options. Im guessing the clerk may have provided an upgrade option by mistake as I doubt they would try purposefully offer an upgraded car without clarifying the cost differences to the customer. Now I have to wait for a claim to be reviewed before being credited for the mistake. Not the end of the world, just a big mistake on their part and bad service.

The car rental staff was very efficient and nice. Our flight was changed to a few hours earlier and I called the facility directly to change the time on our pick-up. Even so, the time change wasnt updated for our rental, sadly, so our car wasnt ready. We had a crew of family with us so we had rented a Cadillac Escalade. The desk gave a us a temporary car until ours was ready, only a couple of hours wait. We switched cars very efficiently after breakfast and we were on our way! 4 stars were for the communication error but otherwise a 5!!!

The smell did not go away the entire time we had the car (8 days). when we called to complain they wanted us to go all the way back to the airport and deal with exchanging the car which we did not have time to do. I requested a convertible and received a Camaro SS. Great vehicle. However, on the day I received the vehicle, it was raining, and none of the National representatives took the time to show me how to use the convertible feature. The next day, after spending an hour messing around with the car, I come to find out that there was a piece missing in the trunk (the cargo shade). National was unable to make a swap for me because they had no more convertibles in the area.I kept the vehicle and it drove VERY WELL. However, I am still highly disappointed in the fact that I paid extra for a particular vehicle feature, and was unable to use it all during my trip. If I know this were to be the case, I would have just saved my money and rented a standard vehicle.

I have always been happy with National and the Emerald lane but not this time. We flew into PSP and told that I had no choice in selecting a car. That there was no Emerald Lane at the airport. Had I know I would have price shopped since I was stuck in a car chosen for me. The first car had 2 warning lights on when I started it. There were no service reps out in the lot so I had to go back into the airport and wait in line again. The counter rep seemed bothered by me coming back but she gave me another set of keys for another car and told me to bring back the keys for the first car. I had left the car running as it was 90+ degrees outside and my daughter stayed with our luggage. When we changed cars we had to move all of our luggage and then still had to bring the keys back to the counter as there were no reps in the parking lot. Very disappointed

At PSP airport there was no Emerald choice of cars (although the line exists on the counter side) - a bit of a let down since I just signed up for the Emerald option. It would be nice if this was published before hand. Otherwise everything was 100 %.

The staff is very helpful and polite--but the car wasnt very clean and smelled a bit off (sour milk??) There was a half used bottle of water in the front and a crumpled paper on the floor.Last time I rented from National at Ontario Airport--the rear view mirrors were so dirty that I had to call an attendant to clean them--which he did with some spit. Really? I think you might have a systemic problem with car cleaning---?

The employees were excellent they made sure that I got the car that wouldnt suit my needs and for what I needed it for and it was so easy to pick up the vehicle and turn it back in I would recommend National Rental Car in Palm Springs to anybody

The entire rental experience was as I would want it - smooth and easy. Quick pickup of the car even though there was no Emerald Isle. The agent provided me with a vehicle that had a large trunk to accomodate my luggage. Vehicle performed flawlessly fr the 9 days I had it. Check-in was a breeze...very cheerful and professional. The amount billed was the amount adevertised at initial rental.

There was only one person working both Almo and National...so I had to wait a bit. But my service and the car was great. They should probably change the website open time, because according to the agent it opens at 5 am and not 5:30 am. They should also open at 4:30 am seeing that flights start out at 6 am. But they do have a drop off service where you lock the doors of the car and place the keys in a lock box.

I am extremely disappointed by your personnels refusal to allow me to return to my rental car after I turned it in when I realized in the terminal that I had left my wifes $180 winter coat on the back seat when I emptied the car. I was only allowed to file a claim for the left article which was an exercise in futility since my wifes coat was promptly taken by someone and not returned to me. As a result, I had to purchase a replacement coat for her in the Salt Lake City Airport when we changed planes so that she wouldnt freeze when we deplaned in NY. Color me as an unhappy customer because of the uncooperative poor performance of your personnel at PSP.

Dont reserve through National if you have a late flight. My flight was delayed and there was nobody available leaving me stranded. The call center said someone should wait since I had loaded my flight information with my reservation but there was nobody. All other car rentals services did have people that stayed after hours for their customers.
