Was looking for a new barber shop after moving to the area. Popped in for the first time for a haircut. The environment is a quintessential neighborhood barber shop feel with roots from little Italy. The barbers were great. Even though we are all vaccinated, I still wore a mask. Without asking, the barber also wore a mask to help me feel more comfortable. The appointment was easy to make on their website. The barber was on time and courteous. The small talk was engaging. I’m happy with my haircut, more importantly my wife liked the haircut. I’d definitely go back.
Comfortable spot, friendly barbers, great location. Ron is the best -- my haircut with him is always professional, appropriate, and good-looking. Ive followed him around town and happy that he landed here.
Best shop, only place I’ll go. Ron is the my guy! Always hooking it up! All the guys that work in the shop are great!
Amazing job! 2 for 2 on haircuts and love the vibe. Finally found a barbershop I can trust.
This is an incredibly quaint environment with exceptional service! I’ve been coming here for the last year and cannot stress enough the wonderful customer service and attention to detail I am given. Not the mention the complimentary shot of whiskey!
I was looking for a barber shop in NYC after moving here this past year. Found this place! Ron did a great job with my trim and fade. Great ambiance and positive vibes. Definitely recommend!
I’m particular about my hair and this place always does a great job. Ron is really talented and made the cut enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Great environment, people, and haircut. Ron is great!
Enjoyed my cut at this place, excellent experience and results. Ron did a great job buzzing and fading my hair. Will return.
I had a positive experience at neighborhood cut and shave. The place is intimate and stylish, staff is friendly and chatty. I booked my appointment online just one hour prior showing up. It’s my second time there and Nelson always gets me “back in business”, he’s my favorite barber!
Ive been coming to Neighborhood Cut and Shave in the west village for years now! Such a friendly and warm barbershop environment - you feel like part of the crew when youre there. Alex has been my barber for years and when I followed her from her last shop to this location, I couldnt have made a better choice. Highly recommend and definitely worth the value!
AMAZING experience. Special needs friendly.. Firstly, they make you feel like family. I have a special needs son and they were extremely understanding towards him. They gave him a great haircut. He loved Alex. It’s hard to get him to do anything. And she did it with ease. He was so happy when we left. They also make it fun. Lots of positive energy. Very talented crew. Thank you!!!
This is a great barbershop. The location is clean, comfortable and the results are always quality. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the staff at this location. I have been coming here for less than a year, and do not plan on going elsewhere.
Great vibes and great barbers. Never disappoints
I absolutely love Neighborhood Cut and Shave. The staff is amazing. Talented and friendly. Always makes me feel welcome and gives me a great cut, I never have to clean it up when I get home. Ive started taking my son, and our barber gave him the coolest Mohawk. I love this place. The complimentary shot doesnt hurt either,
I love this place. Neighborhood Cut & Shave has survived when similar places have closed (pre-pandemic) because they do good work and attract great barbers. Most important for Manhattan, their prices are very reasonable given the quality of their work. I love the convenience and being able to go here frequently for a trim to keep my sides and back of my head shaved between full haircuts.
I travel from Brooklyn to get my haircut. Its has a cool, professional vibe. The best haircut for the money, and the best shaves Ive ever had, if you feel like getting pampered. Always friendly, with fun conversations, and a shot of whiskey if you prefer.
Amazing haircut! Ron was amazing, he was very personable and did a great job!
Great barbershop, highly recommend the cuts from Andrew!
Alex is an expert barber. She listens and is super creative. The shop has a great vibe. Love it here!
I have been coming to this shop for several years now. And regardless who cuts my hair or my sons hair, it is always an excellent experience. I recommend this shop to anyone.
Been going here for haircuts over 3 years now. Service is amazing and have always left happy. Best in town for a fade. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cut in the city.
First barber cancelled my appointment so I called to ask if anyone else was available. Got a different barber for the same time but I arrived on time and he wasn’t there. He walked in 10 min late with no apology and food in hand. He said I’ll take you in a minute and pulled his food out. Really disappointed with the lack of professionalism and didn’t wait for him to eat.
Great barbershop 💈! Love the vibe! Staff is awesome 👏🏻
Great experience at the shop. Friendly and talented staff had me leaving satisfied.
Best spot in the west village. Everyone is a professional and there’s always a fun vibe at the place. Highly recommend.
I have been going to Inessa for years - This place is fantastic
AJ was very personable and did a great job. Shot of whiskey when I sat down was a nice touch. It was my first visit but will not be my last.
Easy, clean and fun. Great haircut
Andrew always give a great haircut. Clean, friendly & quick service.
Always a great haircut! They keep the place clean and have a very friendly staff. Highly reccomend!
Alex R has been cutting my hair for over four years now, first at Harrys and Neighborhood Cut & Shave. Love going to the shop because everyones super nice and friendly, get a great haircut every time, and I mean, come on - who doesnt like a shot of whiskey to make the experience that much more enjoyable?
I was referred by several friends to Alex R for my haircut and have been going nonstop for about 3 years now. Great, consistent quality and always find plenty of availability just as long as I book ahead!
Ron was awesome!
Fantastic place. Also gives haircuts.
Went in for a simple trim, mentioned over and over to the barber, I am growing out my hair and beard, I only wanted to fix the unruly straggled hair, left the shop being charged for a haircut rather than a trim and beard half the size of what it was with one side shorter trimmed down than the other. I told him I dont want my beard shorter, while he tried to convince me he had taken off no length but only “cleaned” the bottom as if I cannot see in the mirror the horrendous job that was done. The hair that I had been meticulously growing out is now shorter and uneven. DON’T waste your money. I GUARANTEE you will find equally better cuts if not more so at a barbershop MUCH MUCH cheaper. I thought they were higher prices due to quality, boy was I wrong.
Best barbershop in NYC
Nice employees, very professional and kindly. I’ll come back again.
I always get a great haircut. Andrew is great.
I originally used to work in this neighborhood when I started coming-in, but three years later, living in Harlem, and no longer attached by work to the hood, I still have to come down to see Andrew and get the haircut hookup.
Friendly place, good cut!
I stop in here once in a while. I always use someone different and they all have been great so far. There are some that have been there a while and are AWESOME. I never had a bad experience. Sometimes they even offer a glass of whiskey. They have online scheduling that I prefer and small barbershop atmosphere with an energetic vibe. GREAT PLACE.
Shhhh. As a male, my go to place for relatively affordable, friendly, quick, low key, clean cut haircut (and shave). I am tired of the overpriced salon for a simple trim or overall haircut, again, as a male. Barbers (stylists, if one wants to sound fancier) are all very experienced (really what matters) and knows how to properly cater haircuts to different peoples head / face (shape) and style. And did I say its affordable and quick, again?
I dont remember how I found this barber shop, but its the only place Ive gone for hair and beard trims in the three years since my discovery.Thomas is an artist! He listens to what you want, what you dont want, and then masterfully finds that middle ground to make you look great. The staff are friendly, the interior is old-fashioned and cozy in the best possible way, and the neighborhood is great for a hundred other things before or after your cut.The prices are in the higher end of the spectrum, but when you factor in the location and personal attention, its well worth it in my opinion.
Travelling from Australia, thought id get myself a shave and hair cut but wanted something with a real NY feel. Somewhere I could experience real atmosphere and cool experience all in the one place. Well i found it. Great hospitality and great individual characters there. Now im looking smart and smooth. Thanks guys.
Stopped in here as a tourist wanting a good NYC barber cut! What an experience. Shop is very clean, good vibe, fair prices, and amazing attention to detail. I wanted a taper fade and beard trim. This place did not disappoint, I saw yuriy! He was the best barber/cut I’ve had. Check him out and the place, you will leave with a good experience.
Awesome vibe and cut! Ive been getting cuts with Andrew for a long time now. Always a great job! Everyone here is awesome and chill! Love this place!
Love the online booking system, but last couple times I went in I ended up waiting 20 minutes after my booked time anyway. Otherwise good. Atmosphere is friendly and barbers are skilled. Some small perks like hot towels and a whisky shot are pleasant.
Today will be my last day going there. Ive had 2 good experiences here, both were by barbers that are no longer there, which is why Im giving it 2 stars. Today I called to schedule an appointment and told them I had a below par experience before and requested that I be out with someone who was good. Obviously they believe all their barbers are good and say thats it all about communication so they sit me down with someone named Jasmin. Fine - I was very clear when I told her the hair cut I wanted, she said okay and proceeded to give me the opposite of what I asked for. At the end when she was showing me the cut in the mirror I told that I didnt like it and it was what I asked for. I specifically asked for a taper with a little off the top and she gave me a mid fade. It was way shorter than what I wanted. The next thing that was wrong was that it wasnt even blended in thoroughly and its not symmetrical. Apparently its not about communication its about whatever the barber wants to do to get you in and out. This is a $40 haircut I expect more. I will say that they only charged me $25 but even then that was still too much for the experience I had. She said that she has many years of experience and that it was a good cut and she even said Its too late to go back. Obviously! If she had many years of experience she should know that you start high, ask is this okay?, and then you go lower if it isnt. You dont start with a lower guard and hope you were right.Lastly I told the front desk person, who I spoke to over the phone, that this was exactly what I was afraid of and that it wasnt what I asked for. He said thats $25 gave me my change and proceeded to speak with someone else that was there. Im sure people have good experiences here but when you charged $40 I expect a level of professionalism. Again I wont be going back there.
My favorite barber shop in the city. Ive been to many, but now only come here (even though Ive since moved to Brooklyn). Theyll offer you a shot of Old Overholt Whiskey when you sit down, which is the best way to start anything, right? The staff is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Ive had many great cuts from Andrew and Khalid, two of the favorites, but my favorite has to be Jasmine, the only girl in the whole joint. Shes really soft-spoken, but when I told her what I was looking for, she told me straight up why certain things probably wouldnt look so good on my specific head (and she was 100% correct), and then she offered better remedies.Anyways, she has cut my hair twice, and theyve been my favorite cuts to date! Check this place out-- youll never be disappointed.
$45+tip for a cut that was not spectacular in any way.The place looks and feels like any old Barber shop only the staff has a better than you attitude, which I guess some reviewers respond to.Not worth it.
Really impressed! Great service and very friendly staff and operation. In the past Ive done the $12 dude with clippers and the $120 luxury salon experience but this is an awesome perfect place right between that.Whole cut was done with scissors, got a nice phone call remind about the appointment and its on a great block in the West Village.
Excellent haircut, style and full barbershop shave and beard trim. A bit pricey, but well worth the mp eye for a chance to pamper yourself.
One of the best places in NYC to get your haircut. Everyone is super fun and friendly! I have been coming here for almost 6 years now. I dont know what I would do if this place was not here!
Quite possibly the best haircut I have ever had. Great vibe in the shop. Listened to what I wanted. And even gave me an AMAZING beard trim. Working out the details to come back with my groomsmen for my prewedding haircut/shave. Definitely worth checking out if you havent been. I am hooked already!
Best haircuts Ive gotten in 28 years living in New York at ANY price. And love that old school hot shave! Great jazz tunes, staff, vibe, and atmosphere as well. Very relaxing.
Love this shop! Classic clean look and barbers who know what they are doing. Always recommend it to guys in the neighborhood and my dad visits when hes in town. Solid choice.
Amazing spot with a great old school vibe. Alex is always attentive, gives his input and listens! They take reservations which is a huge plus for me, I just come straight after work no wait. The hot towel at the end is the icing on the cake. Highly recommended, you wont be disappointed!!
Antique wonderfully blended with modern. The barbers address you by name, offer you refreshments, make sure you are comfortably seated, all before giving a stand out cut, even among the styles of soho.Beautiful wooden furniture is matched with elegant black and white photographs. While the necessary electronics could detract from the air of a 1920s barbershop, the charm of the staff and the classic decor is impossible not to appreciate.
Wow!! Came with my boyfriend last week and he came out with the best haircut. I literally re fell I love with him lol. Definitely highly recommend it
Absurd. I asked for a trim, using a 1 clipper on the side and a taper in the back. I got all of my sides cut down to the skin and almost the entire back of my head shaved off. The taper apparently meant cutting of almost all of my hair like a skin fade. Unbelievable. After being shocked by how awul the haircut was given what I had asked for, I also was told they wouldnt give refunds. Im sorry, but that is simply ridiculous. 1 star.
Highly recommend!!! Very friendly staff and great work.
Went for a haircut and beard trim, the haircut was just ok but the beard was just awful, too short despite my specific ask to keep the length, uneven and asymmetrical. Way overpriced
While I was having a haircut there was a rather peculiarly looking gentlemen sleeping on the chair next to me, clearly not feeling well, to say the least. Its a dump, lets be honest, could use some proper cleaning. Ok haircut tho.
A good cut, and little additions (whiskey, towel) are nice. But $55 for a basic, simple mens haircut is absurd, and they only accept cash. I dont mind paying more for quality, but compared to similar establishments this seems $10-20 too rich.
They have a very clean, cool, retro decor. Youre offered a free shot with your cut. The barbers here are very professional. Although some people might balk at the price, compared to your typical $12-15 cut; the treatment you receive here is way above what youll find in the cheaper places.
Such a safe place. Staff is professional and smart. These guys really know what there doing.
This place blends well in the area. They charge more than a low end barber but the shop and the service are worth it. You can make an appointment online and you get free booze while you wait, never a bad idea.
Stan did a fantastic job on me, a walk-in, with no real specific idea of what he wanted. He helped me figure it out and then gave me exactly what I wanted. Neighborhood Cut and Shave was just what I needed!
Great attention to details, Jasmine was amazing in that she knew what she was doing and what would look good on me.
My go-to for 5 years, always a pleasure.
Cool team, excellent job no matter who cuts your hair...
Go to Naomi. John sent you.
Such a great feel. They never disappoint!! Amazing barbers.
Ask for Alex Ruiz; incredible barber and hair stylist.
These guys are awesome. Great vive, the shop amelled amazing and i literally got the best haircut of my life. Highley recommend this place. Totally a safe choice!!!
Impeccable cut and a shot of whiskey too. Great looking shop guys, wish I had somewhere like this in the UK.
Top-notch haircuts and interesting (if sometimes blood-boiling) philosophical and political conversations to boot! This is my go to place.
My barber Alex is the best barber in the WORLD! Go check her out!
DopeAF. Following Crystal who used to work at Astor. Cool vibe, a couple of blocks away from West4th and just across from The Grey Dog (so get your grub on before or after).
Great spot. Make sure you ask for Yuri
I had the worse experience ever. The funny part is I have a wedding to attend tomorrow. I went in for a quick trim.I wear glasses so I cant see what they are doing with my hair.1st impression the lady cutting my hair asked me what I wanted. I told her just a little fade from the sides and thats about it.10 mins later shes like your done. I wear my glasses and pretty much I had a brand new hair cut which I wouldnt even get if it was totally free. The women cut me off in the middle and said i know i know dont worry give me your glasses. When I asked her if she can fix them shes like this is how your hair are and that was that. I WONT EVEN RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY ENEMY.
Top notch service. Jesse is a pro. Thanks brotha
Can’t go wrong
My go to barbershop the last few years...Tommy will take care of you. Great barbers!
Great people, great cuts.
Such a great neighborhood shop. Love it
I love this shop. Great barbers!
I come from nj to get my hair cut here since the first time i found this place. Great atmosphere and barbers
Great Barbers, loved my new cut
How cool the vibe is !Very helpful and smart staff
Excellent on all accounts - these guys are the best around.
Awesome cut, good guys all around, shot of whiskey. Cant be beat!
Number 1 place, they always make you feel at home.
Will not go anywhere else. Professional and talented!
Awesome haircut, found my place in Manhattan to go to.
Zero care about what the client wants. Recently moved to the area so tried it out but avoid this place if you can. One of the worst hair cuts in a very long time.
Arrived at 9:00 waited ten minutes. They weren’t open and had no sign indicating a closure
