We just recently moved in to a furnished unit and we absolutely love it! I travel for work and needed a short term fully furnished place on the fly and the staff was more than willing to get us in on the day we arrived from out of town! Amber was such a huge help in getting our application and lease done in a hurry and stayed late to accommodate us. Maintenance has been fantastic also! We had a couple of lose fixtures in the unit and Michael and Calvin came by within 24 hours and got everything fixed up for us immediately. Super friendly staff. Everyone you see smiles and says hello to you. This property is perfect for medical travelers (hospitals within blocks). There’s also lots of food and shopping options within walking distance and you’re a short ride from downtown. Seems like a very safe place so far and we love the gated parking deck, which is only a small fee more each month. Love it here!
Great place to live with a perfect location: close to Vandy, midtown, Church St. watering holes, and lots of walkable restaurants. I was hesitant to move in because I had heard about elevator issues and mismanagement. I later learned they had changed management teams some time ago, which explains why Ive only had positive interactions with everyone who works here (and the elevator hasnt been down once in the 3+ months Ive lived here). Great amenities and competitive pricing for the area are an added bonus. My only complaint would be the noise from the street traffic, but I live on the Church St side of the bldg on one of the lower floors, so if this would be an issue for you, try to get a courtyard facing apt or one on the east/west-facing sides of the bldg.
Great apartment in perfect location. There are so many places like restaurants and bars around which you can just walk. The centennial park is also close and I love walking to the park. The apartment staff are so helpful and it is great working with them. So far no noise issues and anything else bothering. I would recommend this apartment for anyone looking in midtown.
Let me start off by saying the staff here is AMAZING, however, the apartment is not... For less money you can get a townhouse less than 2 miles away in a better neighborhood.Want to cook dinner? Preheat your oven before you go to work.Want to cool down your apartment? Turn on your AC a week ahead of time.Like clean hallways? Avoid the hallways.Want a good apartment? Go somewhere else.
I have really enjoyed my 4 months here at 1818. The staff has been super helpful and nice helping me transition back to this great town. The building has a great location whether you are heading to Broadway or a nice restaurant on West End Ave. I would definitely recommend 1818 to anyone. They have a nice gym and a great pool so there are lots of things to do to relax while you are home.
I love working with these folks! and the community is AWESOME. The staff is on top of every request for maintenance and if you just want to chat, they give you that sense of HOME.
Great place to call home, the two ladies that run this place are very helpful and friendly. Even maintenance are friendly and quick to respond to any requests or issues. Overall you cant go wrong with 1818 Church!
Ive been here over a year and Ive loved everything about the property. When I looked before I renewed my lease the people here is what brought me back because they are great people. Management has always been quick to respond and always speak to everyone that comes through their doors. They are what kept me here for a second year.
This was my first apartment out of college. The units themselves are nice, however, people leased apartments and then rented them out to Airbnbs every day! My unit was surrounded by airbnbs and were constantly loud. Every weekend, there would be 6+ people staying in a 1 bedroom apartment partying at all hours, music blaring and running/yelling down the hallways. Frustrating that this building is where people live, not a hotel.
Lived here for almost a year now and never had any major issues. The management staff is very responsive and resolves any questions or issues as quickly as possible. Its perfect walking / biking distance if you work anywhere in the West End area (Im two blocks from my office). Its a great community here and I would recommend this place to anyone.
This property is beautiful! The location is perfect and the pool/courtyard is amazing. I cant speak highly enough of the staff. They truly care about their residents, on a professional and personal level. YALL ROCK!!!
As soon as you walk into this apartment building, it was a nightmare. The staff here was absolutely horrible, the building manager Katherine was extremely rude to my family and I visiting family members. As a veteran coming home from a long deployment, I didn’t feel very welcomed here. She even went as far as to telling my family and I that we couldn’t stand in front of the building to wait for our Uber. Extremely rude, the whole time. My family is considering on moving because of this experience.
I have lived ALL OVER this city and this building is my absolute favorite so far. There is a great sense of community and the location is killer. Dont even get me started on how amazing the staff is. Can it be summer now so we can hang at the pool?! 😍
I rented an Air B&B in this building for a girls weekend in Nashville, and I would NEVER come back here. The building manager, Catherine, was one of the rudest, most condescending “business managers” I have ever come across, and I was both amazed and appalled at how she spoke to me during our stay, especially while in front of potential renters. She made it very clear that she is not a fan of Air B&B rentals in the building, and made it a point to make us feel unwelcome. There was a misunderstanding regarding the elevator, that easily could have (and should have) been handled much differently. Catherine was showing the building to potential tenants at the same time my friends and I were getting on the elevator attempting to find the pool level. Unbeknownst to us, there was a separate issue with the elevator from before we got on which made Catherine wait downstairs with the potential tenants for (according to her) 5-10 minutes. When she finally got on the elevator and saw us there, she immediately assumed we were holding it open for an unnecessary amount of time, and before she could even ask us if this was true, started berating us and talking down to us in front of her potential renters. We were confused and did not know why she was blaming us, but we just apologized for any confusion.A short time later, we got a phone call from the host letting us know that she complained, and informing us that we cannot hold the elevator open for any reason. Completely understandable, however, we wanted to clear the air and apologize for any miscommunication. So the next day, we went to the office to speak with Catherine and apologize, and she could not have been more rude and condescending to us. She interrupted us while we were attempting to speak to her, and made it very clear that Air B&Bs are not welcome in that building. She stated that she lost that potential sale due to the elevator confusion, blamed us for the sale loss, and stated that “people like us” cause nothing but problems for the people that live there, and are not welcome in her building. If you have so many problems with people renting Air B&Bs in your building, then you should not allow it. However, if you are going to allow it, then there is absolutely no excuse for the complete lack of professionalism and the way she talked down to guests of her tenants. After that, she was completely rude to my friends and I for the rest of the trip. On our last day as we were leaving, my friend attempted to ask her a simple question regarding a local restaurant. As my friend was trying to ask her if she could speak with her, she very rudely interrupted her, stuck her hand up and said “any questions you have are not for me, call your host” and walked away before my friend could even get another word out. This interaction actually happened with a client sitting right in front of her. Any sales she may have lost during that time had to be a direct result of her attitude and unprofessionalism, and had nothing to do with us getting off of the elevator. I would absolutely never give this woman my business again.
Shaina and Catherine are killin it, they were extremely helpful in getting me set up in my new place. Give em’ both a raise!
A wonderful place to call home. The staff is awesome, and the building is placed in a great location near downtown!
Great Location and Great place to live. And a Wonderful Management Staff
First let me begin by saying that 1818 Church has some amazing amenities, the apartments are nice and spacious, and the staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. Honestly, this place would be perfect except for 2 exceptions that have somewhat ruined my experience here.First, the apartment is situated in a pretty shady neighborhood. The apartment does a great job with security, but still, weve had a couple people have their cars broken into and I always see homeless people chilling outside the complex. This, in and of itself, isnt that big of a deal breaker because its not something the staff can really do about or fix. Just be aware that the complex is pretty close to a shady part of town.Second (this is the big one), the complex does nothing to control its air bnb guests. Having an air bnb, in and of itself, isnt that bad but, I live on the third floor, and I constantly hear people yelling outside my window in the patio area at midnight on a weekday. This happens consistently and it is absolutely ridiculous that the staff does NOTHING to address it. If it was just weekends, then I wouldnt care so much, but as I type this, at 11:00 on a Wednesday night, I hear a group of air bnb guests yelling, as usual, in the patio area. This, to me, is a deal breaker and why I will not be leasing with 1818 Church next year. Unless this issue is resolved, or you manage to get a room facing away from the pool / patio area, I highly recommend you AVOID staying here.
I would not recommend living at this apartment building. They knowingly lease apartments to AirBnB hosts and are not honest about their actions. A quick search of AirBnb will show all of the available apartments to rent in this building. All of these operations are in violation of Nashville law. If you are wondering why there are few other negative reviews, this management company is in the practice of bribing residents who post negative reviews in return for deleting them.
We are one of those AirBnb people that many are complaining about. We had no idea what we were getting into when we rented. Neighborhood was very unsafe. Our daughters car was broken into. My review on Airbnb was deleted?
Lived here a few months and so far everything is great. Staff is friendly, responsive and prompt. Nice location and easy to walk to local bars and restaurants. Lyft/Uber always minitues away with quick rides to other areas of the city.
The staff are wonderful. Tha apartments are clean and the balcony is really cool.
I do not want to write a review as I do not want any drama, but I feel compelled to let others know what theyre getting themselves into. Wonderful location and beautiful amenities. However,I never heard my next door neighbors at all, but my upstairs neighbors and I got into it hard. Police were called numerous times due to noise and her dog constantly barking (it was 90 pounds which is 30+ pounds over the weight limit for the building and barked non stop which is against the regulations in the lease agreement), My upstairs neighbor finally shoved her way into my apt and refused to leave and I was forced to pull my gun on her (in my own home after asking her to leave MULTIPLE TIMES) to get her to leave. What did the office do? Let her stay and warned us both...the girl broke into my apt!!! The police even warned her that it was breaking and entering and I could have shot her legally. I called the corporate office 7 times in the next week asking for a district manager to call me and I never received a response. NO RESPONSE PEOPLE to me almost having to shoot a neighbor who broke into my home and she was allowed to stay.Multiple peoples cars were broken into. The neighborhood is pretty unsafe in and of itself, there was a murder on the street right in front of it in October of 2016, and people constantly prop the door open with rocks and such. They had every tv stolen off the walls at one point. Mail and packages are stolen all the time. Oh, and the biggest thing? its an Air BnB hotel that seems to be run by the front office. You used to could see the whole lobby full of people with suit cases every day around 4pm. Its beyond annoying when youre paying a lot of money to live here. Youre trying to sleep on a Tuesday night because you have work in the morning, and youve got bachelorettes and children running screaming down the halls all hours of the night.
Christina, below, I dont know how ethical it is for either you or your staff to be leaving positive reviews concerning the property at 1818 or Elmington PM, your employer. Especially considering your review, which advises the staff are very reciprocal, responsive and empathetic, when you, yourself, have not replied to any of my emails. I will start by advising: I am not a disgruntled resident (as I already know the reply to this review will ultimately make me out to be), but rather, I am a highly perturbed resident. I feel as if Im paying a substantial amount of money to live in an Extended Stay Hotel. A large portion of the property consists of Airbnb. The hosts of said Airbnbs use our amenities as selling points on their host pages. So needless to say the long-term residents pool and clubroom are completely inaccessible on the weekends. The one day we typically get to use our amenities are on what we residents call: Resident Sundays, when the Airbnb guests are checking out. When we do go to the pool on, lets say, a Saturday, the guests are passing around glass liquor bottles in the pool, popping bottle tops on the sides of the pool. When we report said incidents, we are intimidated by the guests, who then use veiled threats or obscenities towards us, forcing us to leave our amenities, our home, because we no longer feel safe. When we complain, only a text is sent out to the Airbnb hosts warning them to mitigate the situation. A letter was disseminated by a resident to all residents advising of the proper channel to complain about Airbnb nuisances, which is not via the property management, but rather directly to the source- Host Compliance. One of the hosts attempted to intimidate me, by bringing down his bodyguard, and advised the complex would never sever their relationship, nor would the city, as he pays the city 6% tax and $50k a month to the property. He offered to pay us hush money, then solicited drugs. (To whoever replies to this review): Do not doubt the validity of the content of this review, as it is documented by the front office, or it most certainly should be documented, and was sent directly to Host Compliance. We residents continue to complain about the nuisances, but it falls on deaf ears, as we all know- money talks. By complaining to Host Compliance and Metro City Councilman, Jim Schulman, we can truly cause a sea change. Midtown is an area that is ripe with gentrification- therefore, the dangers of having your car broken into are high; our soft-top convertible was sliced open. These isolated incidents could be prevented if 1818 would have a security guard present as well as locking the gate and outside doors, at all times. 1818 has contracted a booting company. Our registered car has been booted twice now, with decal on dash. But 1818 isnt concerned about taking ownership of these complaints, but would rather have us start an endless battle directly with the booting company. I am supposed to meet with the front desk of 1818 to come to a conclusion, after complaining about certain events, but I already know the conclusion: we residents are expendable, and should treat our complex as short-term leasing, rather than long-term. I will not bore Elimington PM anymore with the quotidian details of a disgruntled resident. But I will remain obstinate in advising: if we, my husband and I, are put in danger one more time by an Airbnb host or guest, there will be no mediation, no mitigation... Elmington PM and the Host will be taken through an extensive litigation process.
Stayed here on our trip to Nashville for the weekend. Air BNB prices for a rental here were much, much lower than any hotel within 30 miles. Walking distance to Midtown with many spots for food and drinks. Small corner store within 3-4 blocks and a liquor store about 3 blocks away. Amenities were great even though we didn’t use them. Gusto Properties I believe was the company renting out the Air BNB we stayed in. 700sq 1 bed apartment with tv, internet, cable, full kitchen, fridge, stove, ect... we enjoyed it and would definitely come back to 1818 Church and rent with Gusto Properties.
Horrible place to live for the amount of money it cost a month. The office staff are not attentive and will lie to your face. The garage is not a safe place to park there have been multiple cars broken into. Countless AirBNBs in the building causes the place to be extremely noisy anyday of the week. I wouldnt recommend you wasting your money to have this address.
I dont understand how 1818 has the legal right to rent space to airbnb guests. This is an apartment HOME for the many residents who pay high rent for a yearly lease. This is absurd...and case in point, why I no longer have an interest in renting an apt at 1818.
The security of the complex is close to nothing. Already had our car broke into and the manager stated unless we could narrow down the time theyre unable/would not be able to find out what happened. They constantly leave the parking garage door open throughout the night. The manager of the property is very rude and defensive when bringing anything to her and I regret renewing my lease.
