I had a very nice experience at this salon and got my nails well done by Kim. Specifically, I got moderate length gel acrylic nails with a slightly sharpened style nail tip. I was very specific for tip style, length, and color. Kim was very accommodating and detail-oriented, which I super appreciated!The salon felt clean, neat, and organized. I also think it is nicely decorated which contributes positively to the experience. The small lobby area had bottled water, coffee, and tea, along with some mints/candy which is a nice touch. Expect street parking, but there is usually plenty nearby. There is also a Dunn Bros coffee right around the corner so the location is great for grabbing a to-go drink and then heading for some enjoyable salon time.I love the way my nails turned out and the staff members were very nice. This is not a cheap salon but I feel the quality, attention to detail, and the environment is worth the price and seems fair. I paid $55 for my nails to be done and added a tip.I certainly recommend this salon, and plan on going back for the next time my nails need attention.

Ehhh, I didnt have a bad experience but it certainly didnt feel very personal.As for the service (Gel Mani) I have definitely had better. There are lots of color inconsistencies - like areas where I can clearly see through and edges that are bubbly/not smooth - and a few of my nails werent filed evenly... but I guess on the bright side I was in and out of there in a flash haha...Basically, I left there feeling that though my manicurist was pleasant enough, I wont be coming back. *I left there thinking I Know I couldve done a better job myself, so much so that I actually went to Sallys (and Amazon) and bought my own supplies to do so.

This was my first time trying V star nails and it was nothing short of amazing. I did not feel rushed even though it was later then their closing time. Lisa did an amazing job on my pedicure. Certainly the best I’ve had in Minnesota and I would gladly give 10 stars if I could. Van slayed my nails, very precise and took her time to ensure that the shape, thickness and colors were exactly as I wanted. Can’t wait to be back!!!!

$50 is the most I’ve paid for a dip manicure, but it was worth it. Thanh was incredibly meticulous and my nails turned out perfectly - great shape, not too thick, and he helped me pick a nice color. Like most nail salons, they prefer cash.

Tim gave me the best mani/pedi of my entire life. I got a gel powder manicure with tips added for an extra $5. Then received a deluxe pedicure which was lovely! Tim was friendly, professional, and made me feel very comfortable. After such a positive experience and amazing nails, I honestly will probably only go here to get my nails done from here on out.

Absolutely amazing experience! I received a mani/pedi from Van and she was wonderful! She is extremely precise, and listens to what you want. The prices are very reasonable and the shop is conveniently located, very clean, and relaxing. I never leave reviews, so that in itself says a lot. I won’t go anywhere else for my nails ever again. Thanks Van! Also, reading some of the poor reviews on here really upset me. Every single person in this establishment is very friendly and accommodating, so much so that they kept the shop open late just to finish my nails (I’d also like to add that I didn’t even have an appointment, and they got me in right away.) Someone also commented that this place was dirty which is a complete joke. I am OCD and one of the first things I noticed was how clean it was. Lastly, a woman posted that their cuticles were cut which, again, is hard to believe. My cuticles look amazing, and Van was very gentle. You should also speak up if anyone is being too rough while they are doing your nails and not complain after the fact. Everyone has a different style, and everyone’s skin/nails differ. I have had my nails done all over California, Minnesota, Arizona, and this has been the best place by far. Gel polish is even and smooth, and the quality of the nail and gel itself is amazing.

Vanessa did an awesome job on my nails! She did an ombré sparkle over white nails and it turned out beautiful! I also really appreciated that she got the color really close to the cuticles so I feel like they will last a few days longer. I will definitely be going back to Vanessa again!

I’m no expert at how these nail places operate. I’ve been a few a few times for a pedicure and overall cleaning and scrubbing of the feet.And they do a pretty good job. They didn’t try to rush me through and kindly treated me as equally as the ladies.That said, I have seen them treat some women customers with contempt and cattiness. Given the nature of their business I imagine this is common.

Very clean and comfortable location. I’ve been going here for two years and have never had a disappointing experience. I don’t go to a “regular” technician and can say all the women/men are great.I mostly get pedicures and the luxury pedicure is easily worth the extra 10 dollars.I’m moving soon and sad to be leaving this place behind.Some posts have implied that the pricing is not transparent but like most nail places they take cards but you have to tip in cash and there is a sign when you walk-in that clearly states the prices.

This has been my go-to place since I moved to Minneapolis! I’ve consistently had a great experience. The one time I didn’t, the owner went out of her way to reach me and make it right. She’s fabulous and really wants her customers to enjoy their experience. They give an extra little shoulder/neck massage with their manis which is my absolute favorite part and why I recommend them to all my friends. Thanks Van!

I loved this place. I do not get my nails done mich but they do an awesome job of pampering for a decent price. The pedicure involve a leg massage and hot towel wrap which feels awesome. After the manicure, they give you a hand and neck massage. Friendly staff. Gel manicure lasted a long time.

I went there with my mother for a manicure and pedicure. I had the most sincere and wonderful lady do my pedicure. Her name was Theresa, she was new to the salon. She was kind and genuinely sweet. She did an amazing job. Perfect actually!! I plan on going to her for now on😀 I also had the owner Van do my gel manicure. What a sweet, professional lady!! There is a reason this salon stays busy! My mother and I both remarked how clean and nice Van keeps her place. She does an amazing job running a fantastic salon. I would recommend this salon to everyone!!

I’ve been seeing Van for my nails for 4+ years and followed her to her new salon when it opened. She is always accommodating when making appointments and has such pride in her business. My toes and nails always look perfect and she’ll go the extra mile to make sure of it. Her leg and shoulder massages are so lovely and a great bonus to the beautiful nails. I recommend her to everyone!

Went due to all the posts about how it’s the best place in Minneapolis. The look of the establishment is great, no complaints in that area. It was nice and clean, a lot better quality than places I have seen. The manager, or who I assumed to be the manager, was extremely sweet and I was seen upon entering the building. The issues I have was the work that was done on me. Paying $50 for gel nails is something I expected back in Miami and I definitely did not $50 quality nails. I don’t have a job where I use my hands roughly, I wear gloves when cleanly, the works. I’ve been getting my nails done for years so I know the routine on upkeep. When I got my nails done 4 DAYS AGO, it was very confusing to understand the pricing. Although the sign says $40 for gel nails, I was told that it was $50 for polish. No where did it say here was an extra charge for color polish versus clear polish. So that’s questionable to begin with. Whatever, got my nails done but an older woman and they were decent looking. She didn’t really speak to me while doing my nails and to me, that’s just awkward. The nails were not the best.4 days later, I already look like I need a fill. I’ve never had nails that look this old after 4 days, not even a week. The gel color is not meeting the cuticle nor is it even evenly coated. The gel itself is lifting on three separate fingers like I’ve had it for past 3 weeks and beginning to chip. Then they are beginning to turn green at the cuticle like the UV was not down properly. I’ll bite the bullet and chop it up to being new in the area and not knowing better. But to pay $50 for barely passable quality, I don’t think they are for me.

Love this place! Primarily work with Tim, but everyone here is top notch. I have lived in Edina/SW Minneapolis for some time now and been to nearly every salon (Honey Nails, Kims Nails, Diva Nails, Crystal Nails), but V-Star is by far the best. For one, I love that when I make appointment, my tech is always ready for me. At many other places I became a regular, and even with an appointment, my techs were always late and seemed to take walk-ins right before our scheduled time. Not here! The staff at V-Star definitely aims to please.

Ive been going to V-star nails for about 2 years and have always had great experiences. They are clean, friendly, professional, and high quality. The one time I had a nail chip a couple days after the appointment (gel), I walked in and they quickly re-did that nail at no charge. My gel manicures typically last a full month without even a chip!

I went to get my gel off and get some fake acrylic nails and they are beautiful! It was very time consuming, and when the lady was bringing out the pockets to put my nails in to take off the gel, a big piece of cotton soaked in acetone and full of polish was inside of it! She still used th exact same one, and when we were done using them, she stacked the pockets up and just put them into her box without washing them. However my lady was very nice and checked in to make sure she was doing what I wanted!

Had a great experience here. Went in for a regular manicure. Was pleasantly surprised by the length of hand massage and shoulder massage. On a cold winter day, I walked out of there feeling GREAT! I will be a returning customer. The facilities were modern and it had a pleasant atmosphere.

I moved to MPS a year ago and Ive been looking for a nail salon to call my own. Many places Ive visited were dirty (like turn around and walk out dirty) and most gave only mediocre service. V Stars was a nice contrast.To start, it was clean; the staff were friendly but not overly chatty (my idea of relaxation is quiet, not conversation). The massage chair worked and looked as if it were still solidly in its prime. I didnt feel rushed or pushed through the service. And at the end of the mani, they offered me a short but totally unexpected (and unnecessary but appreciated)shoulder massage. Yes!Beyond these, the technician asked if the color worked, if her shaping was on point, etc. I liked that I was consulted, but not overly so, and her work was on point. She was meticulous and fastidious and expertly skilled.I will be going back.

Really disappointed with my first and last trip here. I thought the ratings would hold up. 😬I knew I should have walked out when a nail tech lied to a customer that the shop did not accept card for payment. The customer then informed the nail tech that she had paid with a card in the past. He then took her card and processed the payment.I called in a few days ahead to schedule an appointment for liquid gel nails. On the day of my appointment I called to see if I could get in earlier. I was able to. Went in, got my nails put on, then was told I didn’t make myself clear when I said gel nails. The nail tech proceeded to inform me, the cost for basically acrylic powder nails with a gel top coat, would cost $50. I really wanted the real deal when it came to gel nails, especially since it was only $10 more. They couldn’t/wouldn’t do it and offered the alternative option. I settle for the cheaper option...basic acrylic nails ($35), because they couldn’t offer me what I really wanted and showed me they only care about the money and not about the customer’s needs.My thumb nail is shorter than the other nails, the nail tech filed into my skin (but did apologize), and the technician touched me without warning when I was drying my nails and gave me an unwanted, unannounced massage that caught me off guard and I didn’t know how else to respond but with a smile and a thank you. She also made me pay first before she painted my nails but I think it was to ensure I didn’t leave without paying because the other customers weren’t asked this when I was there. The other customers paid after their nails were painted and dry.Very shady shop, would advise to go somewhere else with better work ethics and are honest with their customers. I mean who lies to their customers about payment and then takes it back when caught?

They are nice, I went for my birthday with my friend and they didn’t bother having us sit together when we where getting our nails done. They will speak to each other very loudly in another language as they are doing your nails witch I think is rude. But there pedicures are the best!

The salon is very clean and everything is sanitized after each use. I have been going to Candy for almost a year for gel fill-in and gel color. She is very sweet and is super competent. My nails always look terrific. Try her and see.

Everyone was soooo pleasant! A genuine care for what they do. Tina did an amazing job on my feet, and An did a beautiful job on my hands!!! They are so sweet, and made me feel like a Queen. The conversation was nice, they are hilarious, and I will be returning!

V Stars is my favorite nail place in town. It’s super clean inside and parking is easy. Their nail technicians have a great attention to detail and my nails always look perfect after a visit to V Stars!

Friendly staff and great color selection. Pricier than some other places nearby. My nails and toenails looked great. In order to get good exfoliationi would have had to upgrade my pedicure. Also the upcharge for gel was a bit high.

Very fast, efficient, and friendly my manicure looks gorgeous. I have very sensitive skin and nails and my tech was gentle and picky, which is my type of tech! They fixed up my nails after another shop did a horrible job. Definetly my new go to place

Love isnt a strong enough word. I have never had to worry about which nail tech I was going to work with becuase each one is so talented and professional. The place is always clean and doesnt smell like a typical nail stuido. Their facials are also amazing and my great aunt loves their eyelash services.

I took my friend here for a manicure for her birthday and the customer service is great. The ladies took their time to provide the services to us ..and even gave their signature shoulder massages after manicures with no extra charge . Would go back.

Ive been to quite a few nail salons in the metro and this is my first review.1) the place is filthy.2) I could tell the towel my hands were resting on hadnt been changed between customers.3) I was bleeding from 12 different locations following the desecration of my cuticles4) the lady took breaks from slicing my fingers to count the tip money in her drawer in front of me5) the polish is bubbled up because she didnt use any alcohol or acetone to remove the oils before applying the polish6) for some reason, she had me put my hands under the uh light before ever putting anything on the nail... pretty sure that doesnt do anything.Do not spend your money here.

I cant say that I am a regular at getting manicures and pedicures, usually only special occasions, so maybe my uncomfortableness at this place is what people put up with. I wont go back there. I didnt like the experience at all. Constant upselling, pushing me to spend just $5 more for this or that. I wouldnt say the pricing is clearly stated. I cant say the quality was there either. I felt like my tech was just going through the motions, nothing extra. I was nicked several times during my manicure as well. My fingers hurt afterwards! I also think I was charged more than what I saw as the price on the sheet. For what I paid today, Id rather go to my regular salon where I can understand the person and she can talk to me rather than her co-workers in another language, and Im not coerced into paying cash or a check made out to cash.

My nails are pretty, but they really push the envelope for cash payment only. They offer a back massage (with a manicure) which is really weird and uncomfortable, but hand massage was great. There were just a few things about the place that seemed a little off.

I give this salon a 5 plus rating. The staff are all very welcoming and provided the best service. I found this salon very pleasing to the eye; the atmosphere is very calm, where I was able to relax and enjoy my mani-pedi, without loud voices and chaos around. This salon is very clean and organized. The nail products to choose from are current and nicely displayed. So, if youre looking for an excellent salon, this is the best choice. I have visited many, many salon... none compare to V-Star Nails.

I had been several times no problem then I come with my 4 year old and I got a younger lady who did my nails wrong horrible job I hate to say anything then another lady came to look and told her it was wrong and she was redoing it and very inpatient and rude I had my 4 year old daughter with me so was trying to be polite and patient which we where but the nail job was horrible this time the lady did not know what she was doing and her peers where telling her it took several hours it was a horrible experience luckily my 4 year old got her nails painted and I kept my cool but I will never go back. We love Solor Nail on Crabb River Road!

This was just bad. I asked for acrylics and while she was filing my nails, she was very aggressive and cut my skin, im not sure if she noticed that I was watching her because she carried on. I was bleeding and she just wiped it off with acetone. She said that they were done drying and touched them....it left a finger mark. There are also bubbles and a hair in my nails.

Never been yelled at nor reprimanded by techs. After they were done, I explained my mother had an emergency and calling to cancel my appt slipped my mind. EVEN STILL, on phone, I told them I had to take care of her and probably couldnt make it for 20 min. They said Fine, took me, complained again when I showed up about how they had to wait on me (then y callback? y not just cancel me? Tk some1 else); had 2 ladies rush work on me- stretched across 2 tables very uncomfortably until 9:15pm, shapes were not same; gel didnt cover entire nail and NEXT DAY, Chrome came off. I showed mgr, then SHE reprimanded me for being late, as if to justify the shabby work; but said to come back in 2 hrs to fix them. I explained to HER (a 3rd person) about moms emergency and how I,yet & still, rushed to get in and mk the appointment, she gv a non chalant sorry, but I was so tired & disturbed, I just went to another salon for fix. I think they confused me w/ another customer who missed appt before because they asked me Arent you the 1 who comes when u visit your Aunt here...uhhh no, just my 2nd time. .Either way, its no way to talk nor treat a paying customer (BTW, tech initially sd its be $50, but charged $60 out of spite).

I am dumbfounded by the reviews. I brought my sister, daughter and her friend for a fun experience of getting a pedi/mani. The minute we walked in, the man who greeted us, seemed put off. Everything was rushed. I had to go back the next day because three of my nails had already chipped. To fix the chipped nails, they put polish over the chipped nails. Yep, you guessed it, they chipped again. There are so many great nail salons, I would not bother going to this one.
