They are raising rent by 500 without notice. Avoid at all costs. The renovations the owner is claiming to provide, after evicting all of their current tenants, fall under basic maintenance.Seeing strangers leave the office crying and the elderly being forced out is outrageous.Do not be scammed by this corporation.EDIT:The comment they posted was literally a lie and here is a photo as proof! No lease renewal was ever offered and no renovations occurred.

I am still a resident at this condo and I’ve seen a lot of people moving out. I would like a concrete answer as to whether or not I will have to leave as well. All I’ve been told is to “keep my options open”. Since I’ve seen that management answers reviews on here, I need to know if I’ll be asked to move out before I go looking for a new apartment and waste time and money

UPDATE 3: The fire alarm went off multiple times in a row for many nights, preventing people from getting any sleep. It appears that the best managers were relocated or let go. The new people are rude and have hung up on frustrated tenants who tried to voice their concerns. This place is getting knocked down, DO NOT MOVE IN! The response is a lie, nobody has been in contact with me!--It has been 2 months since I wrote my original review. I felt it was necessary to post an update, but not to change the star-rating (1/5). Heres why:The main concern I initially had was the laundry, which has not been fixed at all.For those who didnt read my first review, many of The Cloisters units do not have in-unit systems and rely on pay-per-use laundry machines. These machines operate on laundry cards, which cost $5 to buy and $5 to reload (it does not come with a starting balance). To use the dryer and washer costs $3.00 ($1.50 per machine) so that your card intentionally needs to be reloaded with another $5 each time you plan on doing laundry. Now, this wouldnt be so bad if everything worked as its supposed to. But it never does. The dryers have NEVER properly dried my clothes. In the 2.5 months Ive lived here, I have pulled damp clothing out of the dryer every single time. Ive tried putting in 1/2 the load too, but it still leaves it soaking. To make matters worse, the laundry card machine (second picture) occasionally swallows $5 bills and the washers/dryers sometimes double charge your card for one load (happened to both my roommate and me).The staff has been in touch with the company that owns the machines (they are not owned by The Cloisters) to service the machines, but no matter which laundry room I use, my clothes come out soaked (Ive tried 3 different ones with the same result each time).Ive had to step on airplanes wearing wet clothing because I thought the dryers would work after being serviced. If you need help imagining the most uncomfortable feeling in the world, I suggest you start with that: sitting down for a 5-hour flight in wet clothing.Ive been in contact with the management to fix this issue, but they refuse to get new, working machines. They have credited me towards rent and offered to refund the money Ive spent on my laundry card, but have ignored my ONE request: get rid of these clunky old laundry machine and get a decent washer/dryer. Ive thrown the same exact loads of laundry into my friends washers/dryers at the University Village and they come out crispy and warm every time! Now that Ive addressed the laundry, I should address the bugs.We determined that the fruit fly invasion we had (HUNDREDS of fruit flies) was because the management irresponsibly left overflowing dumpsters in the parking lot directly outside our apartment for weeks. Since they were removed, the fruit flies have disappeared. Nonetheless, it spelled out for an almost un-livable week.As for other issues, the Wi-Fi goes out every night at 2 AM exactly, and intermittently throughout the day as well. This is incredibly troublesome if you have exams, smart home lights/doorbells, or anything that relies on a stable connection.Like other reviewers wrote, our apartment was not ready to move in when we arrived. Our dishwasher was not plugged in, there were various stains/water damage on the walls and ceiling, and it overall did not feel clean. We were told that our backyard (all dirt) would be filled with gravel, but it has not been.Lastly, the parking gate remains open all of the time. This is a massive security threat. If somebody really wanted to break into The Cloisters, it wouldnt be that difficult.Ultimately, if you value clean clothes, clean apartments, smart home appliances, or security, dont rent here.If you want my recommendation, I recommend Red Road Commons or Modera. Each is comparably priced, and I have friends living in both who report significantly fewer problems. They also have way more UM students living in their communities which is a massive plus if you go to University of Miami.

I called and asked a few questions about any available units and Dylan Webster answered and was willing to help me with any and everything that I had to ask. He was the best service I’ve had trying to find new places to live in. I’ve called over 40-50 different places to ask for information about available units and Dylan was by far the best and most helpful for anything. I appreciate his kindness and how we went out of his way to please me. If anyone sees this, please thank him for me, he was amazing. Thank you again

One of the best hidden gems in Miami, I have lived in several apartments in the area and I have to say that The Cloisters offers the best price per square foot! The pool is absolutely gorgeous and the office staff and maintenance team are always super helpful! If you have any friends looking for an apartment at UM look no further!

The Cloisters is in need of additional personnel to accomplish the goals of what CA Ventures espouses their properties to be. CA Ventures needs to address the personnel shortages as well as the overall deteriorating conditions of the property now that they have decided to keep the Cloisters.

The experience has been below par. I specifically went above and beyond to get this apartment. I stayed in other places so that I could move in October. Amongst other things, the style was what I liked, so I leased the apartment to walk into an apartment that wasnt like the one shown. The AC NOT working, the blinds not on, a door split open, clogged sinks, outside lights not working, baseboard not on, not thoroughly cleaned, and a broken toilet. Oh forgot to add a broken refrigerator- so yes, food has rotten due to that and from a style output- floors that do not match. Maintenance has been in and out of the apartment, which only adds inconveniences with COVID-19 still being a concern. They are in the middle of transitions. However, in a year, a lease will total around $18,000. Its not too much to want to walk into a ready apartment. I feel fooled into committing to a lease here when I could have moved into an apartment ready, which would have saved me all this hassle, and I would have been less stressed. When preparing an apartment, word of advice, pay attention to detail, and hire more people if needed. Also, if an apartment is not completely ready, dont waste anyones time and energy. The first time not being satisfied in an apartment, and I hope this is the last.
